  • Beth's apartment was perfect for my wife and I along with our 3 year-old daughter. The apartment was clean, well-appointed and in a perfect location. Beth was also very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed for a successful trip. I look forward to staying again in the future!

    Travis2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beth's place is fantastic. The place is right near all kinds of great restaurants and sites to see. Although in town there was not too much noise and was really a safe and hip town.

  • This is such a lovely, beautifully designed space combined with over-the-top attention to detail, special touches and genuine thoughtfulness to ensure our stay would be perfect. Highly recommended! And gals: the clothing store 412— directly downstairs is your best bet in all of Maine for well curated fashionables!

  • This was our first Air BnB experience and it was absolutely fantastic in every way! We feel refreshed and recharged after staying with you! We loved the beautiful location, the well-designed accommodations and unlimited amenities. Beth, our host, has thought of everything to ensure the comfort and ease of her guests, from check in to check out, with high ceilings, lots of windows and a spacious layout; stylish furnishings and dish ware; a high quality mattress, pillows, sheets and towels; organic soaps and shampoos; and a relaxing, spa-like palette of gray, green and creamy white. We loved the keyless entry, reserved parking area, excellent Wifi service and being able to walk to everything: especially, the Farnsworth Museum, Suzuki’s Sushi restaurant and sailing charter opportunities. We also appreciated and enjoyed the ground coffee, half & half and box of fresh baked scones, muffins and croissants awaiting our arrival in the fridge. What a pleasure it was to meet our host Beth. My husband and I left his laptop computer and some articles of clothing behind and did not realize it until we reached Portland, 2 hours south. She located the items and immediately reached out to someone she knew who was heading to Portland and the items were delivered to us in Portland that same day!!!!! A thousand thanks, Beth, for continuing to make our lives easier, even after we left. You are truly the most amazing person and our experience with you has exceeded all of our expectations in every way.

    Phipps2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Echoing so many other reviews already posted, Beth's place is an outstanding choice to book for your next visit to Rockland. Great host communication, easy parking & check-in, spacious, clean, comfortable, and nothing left to want. We really couldn't have asked for better accommodations.

    Joseph2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t wait to stay again! Amazing space, great location, one of the best Airbnb experiences yet!

    Justin2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • It is tough to know where to start with this review, because so much of our stay was amazing. First, Beth’s check-in process was seamless. We were in the door in no time, and the apartment was exactly as it looks in the photos – beautiful all the way around and sparkling clean. It was so nice, that my wife and daughter took several photos (each day of our stay!) and looked at pillows, sheets, kitchen items and more for clues as to where Beth got all the stuff that she has turned into a true haven for travelers. When it was time to go explore more of Maine, we often found ourselves lingering in the apartment and saying, “I don’t want to leave.” It was an attraction for us, the same way a lighthouse or hiking trail or boat tour would be. Beth provided a thorough guide to the Rockland area, and it didn’t disappoint as the restaurants and bakeries she suggested were excellent (we LOVED Café Miranda). Providing local baked goods and coffee for our first morning was an extra-special touch. Some fancy new windows were in the larger bedroom, and one had trouble staying put after it was opened. This was not a huge deal to us, as A) there were fans and a nice breeze from outside and B) we were out of the apartment most of the day. But I alerted Beth because she’d want to know if her windows weren’t working, especially on days when the weather wasn’t as nice. Beth responded quickly when we made her aware. And she had her “window guy” take a look, but first asked if it was convenient for us for him to arrive. This was typical of the way she communicated with us: Quick to reply, taking our needs into account first. That includes when I accidentally took one set of keys after we checked out of the room, not discovering this until we were well on our way to Portland. I texted Beth, assuming she’d want us to turn around on U.S. 1 and return the keys promptly, but no, she was very understanding. She told us not to waste such a beautiful July day and mail the keys back later. I did that about 24 hours later in Portland, which was far easier than having to backtrack. Beth could coast on the fact that the apartment is beautiful and in a fantastic location for people who love coastal Maine, food, art and more. But the stay was first-class because of her responsiveness and kindness. It was just two nights that we stayed, but it will be etched in our memory forever.

  • Dee's place is just a few blocks from downtown Rockland and the water. There are many interesting shops and restaurants to explore. Too bad most were closed during my visit due to the virus closures. I'm already talking with my wife about returning after things open up again.

    Jonathan2020-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location - walking distance to main street shops, etc. Clean and cozy!

    Michelle2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and quiet suite for travelers looking to be in Rockland but a few steps removed from the bustle of the coast and downtown. Nice kitchen area, clean bathroom, and comfortable bedroom and small living room area. We appreciated the attention to saving resources, recycling, and mindfulness. Dee communicated clearly, went out of her way to find local information, and made us feel safe and welcome. Her sweet suite is highly recommended!

    Laura2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay at Dee’s! She was so helpful and responsive when we were booking our reservation. We were so impressed with the space when we arrived. It was so cozy and perfect for what we were looking for. Dee also provided really excellent options for sightseeing and dining in the area. Overall, it was a lovely experience.

    Robin2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our two night stay at Dee’s place. Check-in was easy and Dee did a great job getting us acquainted with the apartment and neighborhood. The location is very convenient, on a quiet residential street just a short walk to the Farnsworth, shops and restaurants. The apartment is very well equipped, with everything you’d need to cook a snack or full meal. The bed is comfortable, and Dee provides toiletries if you forget anything. It’s a cozy space, but didn’t feel cramped for my husband and me. Much better than the usual motels we stay in when in Rockland. We highly recommend Sweet Willow Suite!

    Susan2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Super cute and comfortable private space. Bedroom had attached kitchen which we didn’t use but was well-appointed. Bed was really comfy. Nice touches throughout. Our hostess, Dee, was pleasant and thoughtful. She asked about our interests, and suggested several attractions/restaurants which we enjoyed. We would definitely stay their again. Parking was in driveway, off of the street.

    Kevin2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great location to enjoy the town of Rockland! Dee's place is a gem, perfect to come home to after a hike up 1300 feet at Camden State Park, best time at the transportation museum near the airport! And of course, a light house to see! The cottage was spotless, updated, cozy, and the kitchen perfect for our morning coffee. Can't wait to come back!

Many great shops and restaurants and a great trail along the coast for a walk or run. Sauna is a gem and Hulu was commercial free! We had a great weekend and look forward to exploring more costal towns this season!

  • This is a charming cottage is very clean and located in a quiet part of town. Nicole is very gracious and easy to communicate with. The manual provides a clear description of what is available for the guest, food, wifi, tv etc., as well as where things are, there is even a list showing the restaurants where the locals hang out. We really enjoy staying at Nicole & Scott's place and wouldn't mind staying at their place again the next time we visit Rockland.

    Lan2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Nicole was right there to help me access the property and to provide a needed air mattress. The house was clean as a whistle and they provided the little things that count - like breakfast fixings, trash bags, and toiletries. Lovely house - just perfect for our three generations gathering.

  • Nicole was really responsive and available if we had any questions. The house is spacious and nicely set up. We really enjoyed Rockland and this was the perfect place to stay for the whole Maine experience. It's really central for going to Portland or Acadia, and we kept coming back to Rockland for the great restaurants. Would totally go back!

    Michael2015-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and tidy place with everything we were looking for. Nicole had very clear instructions laid out, and that made the stay very smooth. Highly recommended.

    Arthur2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Clean home, decent amenities. Nicole waived the two night minimum for us, in light of the fact that we were just traveling through rather than staying in the area, and that was much appreciated! Oversized, fluffy towels provided.

  • The home is exactly as described, very clean and in a wonderful location. We have been going to Rockland for 30 years but this was our first time using Airbnb there and Mat's place was perfect. It's a short walk to town and the water, and had plenty of room for all five of us. The two bathrooms is always helpful with that many folks too! Mat was quick to respond and very accommodating when we needed to checkout a bit later. We knew it would snow while we were there so we brought a shovel, woke up Saturday morning to clear out our cars and the pathways only to find it had all been taken care of! Would definitely recommend this home to those looking for a relaxing weekend in Rockland!

  • We stayed in Mat's home for several weeks, and we highly recommend it. Mat was easy to reach and was always available to answer questions. The location of the home is perfect for us. We loved being able to walk into town to go to get coffee or dinner. Most of the time it was just the two of us, but we also had friends and family visit, and we had plenty of room. The kitchen has every possible thing you might need to prepare meals. I don't think I've ever seen such a well-equipped kitchen in a rental home. In fact, everything we needed was provided from laundry soap to paper towels. Although we didn't get to meet Mat, we did meet the next door neighbors who are familiar with the home and were available to help if we needed them. We would definitely stay there again if we return to Rockland.

  • We spent five lovely days in this beautiful, charming home. We found it exactly as described. It was clean with a fully stocked kitchen and three tastefully furnished bedrooms. We also enjoyed the fenced-in backyard and the cozy porch. The house was in a quiet neighborhood in walking distance to the harbor and downtown Rockland. Communication with Mathew was easy and prompt. We can highly recommend Sea Shell Cottage and we'd love to return when we are in the area again.

    Brigitte2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, three bedroom place. Walkable from downtown but not downtown... took about ten minutes. Good for a group or family, Mathew sent a message with clear checkin instructions so couldn’t have been easier.

My intimate bed and breakfast is a popular and fun place. It’s fantastically close to the harbor and a block from town and all the restaurants and activities. Primo is a 10 minute walk. Come see and stay for a bit.
Adorable queen size bedroom and private bath near the front porch. Yes it’s a lively fun town with lots of activities for active people but just the right ambiance for relaxation too. Common area with microwave and fridge and coffee and tea. Cable tv there too, if necessary.

  • “NamaStay” was a great choice for our family of 7. It is an older house with lots of character and lots of space to spread out. All of the amenities (WiFi is essential for our family!) worked perfectly. Also the location is great- on a quiet street but only a short walk to the many attractions of Rockland. Definitely recommended!

  • The place was very nice. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and a block or two from the main area of town. The owner came by and was extremely nice and gave us a few tips on places to visit and to eat at that were in the area while we were there and was helpful. It's in an area that is right in between Bar Harbor and Portland which was great for us in particular. It's a great place and we wouldn't mind staying there again in the future.

  • Jennifer's loft is large, very well lit and amply furnished. Located on the main street of Rockland it is convenient to shops, galleries and restaurants, all within walking distance. There are views of the harbor from the bedroom and the main street from the living area. It is located on the top floor of the building with no elevator which may be a challenge for some. • Absolutely a wonderful place to stay. Upscale and comfortable, and an added bonus of a quite and scenic roof top deck. Location is in the center of Main St and that is where everything happens, on Main (Maine). No matter how long you are staying, plan on an extra day, you will wish you had, just to take a day to add extra relaxation inside the apartment. Jennifer is very helpful should you have any questions. Great stay AAAAAA

  • The apartment is beautiful, clean and in a central location. I felt like an artist in my small town Maine loft! The decor and feeling of the space was hip and inviting and the bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed exploring the Maine coast from this central location. In the evenings it was perfect to walk the town to go out to dinner and enjoy the area. Also the rooftop access was such a treat and a great way to spend the afternoon enjoying the beautiful weather when we first arrived. The process of checking in was easy and quick. Thank you Jennifer, we loved it!

A light, bright, modern penthouse atop our 1880s sea captain’s home offers breathtaking views of Rockland Harbor. Enjoy downtown shopping, art galleries, museums and fine dining, all a short walk from home. No worry in case of unusual weather, comfort on both floors is a push of a button away. The penthouse can provide rare privacy for two couples or for a family with older children who appreciate space of their own. In all, there’s a living room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, one on each floor, and two and one-half bathrooms. There is air conditioning on both floors. The main floor bedroom with an adjacent half bath is furnished with a queen-sized bed and office alcove. A full bath and laundry facilities are on the same floor. The upper-floor suite offers a king-sized bed and an adjacent room for reading, sky and water gazing or as a third, single bedroom. There’s a full bathroom (shower only) on that floor. Internet for streaming your favorite shows. The Rockland Harbor Lighthouse is visible from the third floor and the snug, second-floor deck and early risers can treat themselves to spectacular sunrises over Penobscot Bay from there or most any room. One caution: The penthouse starts one flight up, making it unsuitable for people with mobility problems and for very young children. Finally, five things that made us fall in love with this wonderful place in Midcoast Maine: 1. Rockland is an easygoing coastal gem with a unique, hard-scrabble history, given to reinventing itself, where the people are welcoming and the water accessible by schooner, ferry, foot and lobster boat. 2.In fact, one of our favorite treats is a ride with Captain Jack, a fisherman who tells you almost all about his trade as he pulls up lobster traps. Just six people aboard at a time. Find out more at 3.The city offers foodies a mix of coastal and summer classics. For a start, lobster at Claws, Maine’s most vaunted hotdog at Wasse’s and blueberry pie most anywhere – as well as upscale dining at the intimate In Good Company and garden-to-table Primo with Melissa Kelly, a James Beard “best chef in the Northeast.” On the home front the reward for a 4-minute walk is a sunset aperitif at Archer’s on the Pier, a good spot too for seafood and generous shore fare. 4.There’s plenty of local food to gather by foot and enjoy at home, too, from Rock City coffee roaster, the neighborhood Southend Grocery, Jesse’s Market for fish or Wiggen’s Meat Market and the new gourmet Main Street Markets downtown. 5. For entertainment and education just down the street, Rockland boasts the Farnsworth Museum, home of Andrew Wyeth’s works, the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, the Children’s Museum, the Strand, a downtown theater with a full, eclectic schedule of cinema, music and comedy and the Museum of Sail, Steam and Power, featuring maritime history, Maine’s only Foucault’s Pendulum and evening musical delights, live and introduced by the inimitable Captain Jim Sharp. • Loft #2 is spacious, stylish and uncluttered, with everything we needed and nothing we didn't. A full kitchen (with lovely dishes) makes staying in and cooking a fun option, though great restaurants are literally steps away and we appreciated Beth's list of her favorite places in the area. Motion-sensor lights in the outer hall and nightlights in the bathroom and hallway make navigating an unfamiliar place a breeze.

    Gail2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Beth's apartment over the weekend in order to visit our college-age son who stayed on campus over the summer. From booking to check-in/out, Beth provided us with quick communication and easy-to-follow instructions. The apartment is in the middle of Rockland's Main (main) Street, which could be a bit noisy at night, but was also within steps of nice shops, good restaurants, and a variety of art galleries. The apartment is beautiful: huge, airy, well-decorated and well-appointed. The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the hallway with a cute little sitting area separating them. The arrangement also provided a little more privacy than we expected. Beth generously left bakery sweets and coffee in the fridge for us, and directions to the local bakery (Atlantic, down the street) so that we could get more. Rockland is at the south end of the coastal Maine summer-tourist towns which probably accounts for far-more reasonably priced mid-summer accommodations. These towns are an easy drive and believe me when I say, Beth's apartment is well worth the drive. We were very happy with the value-for-money and would happy stay there again.

    Diane2018-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beth’s place is amazing - incredibly spacious layout, everything you could need in the apartment, and immaculately maintained. The location is perfect for exploring Rockland, right in the center of town and walking distance to a bunch of restaurants, riverfront path, and the ferry terminal. Being right downtown there is some street noise at night from a pub downstairs, but the rear bedroom was very quiet. Beth couldn’t have been more accommodating and had a book full of local tips, plus more Maine magazines than I’ve ever seen! Would absolutely stay here again if we find ourselves back in Rockland.

    Leslie2018-09-03T00:00:00Z

  • We enjoyed our stay at Ripples very much, Sandi is a wonderful host, Our room was very comfortable and the breakfasts are delicious. The location is very convenient to downtown Rockland and all it has to offer.

    Rob2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Great location, one block from the water. Really liked Hills restaurant 1 block away and we easily walked into town and to the YMCA, etc. Sandi told us about the local restaurants. The rooms have a lot of charm. There is no air conditioning but we did not need it and didn't even use the window fan even though there was a "heat wave" while we were there. Sandi sets a lovely table and we enjoyed the breakfasts. Also enjoyed sitting/swinging on the porch.

    Ann2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house is charming and comfortable and Sandy made us feel right at home. The bed was cozy and my husband and I slept very well. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast that Sandy prepared and served in the morning and it was nice to chat with other guests at the family style table. If you are looking for a low key, relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of daily life this is certainly the place for you.

She showed us our rooms, chatted with us for a while, and gave us the absolute best dinner recommendation. Her home is beautiful, clean, and spacious. My BnB is just a few steps from the harbor and all the fun of downtown Rockland. WALK to harbor, restaurants, museums, and windjammers. Plenty of free parking, great rooms, coffee and tea always available. Light breakfast is sometimes offered. Primo is just down the block for dinner.
Rockland historically, has been a retreat for painters, writers, photographers, cooks and craftsmen. There's something for all creative or adventurous folks here. Restful rooms with private bath and a common area with TV, (free wifi) microwave and small fridge. One block to fabulous restaurants, theater, and Farnsworth Museum. Harbor with ferries and sails.. lobsters abound!
Friendly and stone's throw to Main Street and Harbor Park and all the activities that go on. Food is fabulous in Rockland and Primo is 8/10 of a mile and a pretty easy walk. Cabs are available too, (just in case you overeat or something) Food in town is just great too... can't say enough.
  • Sandy was the perfect host, even making us eggs when the other dish she was serving didn’t fit our diet. So incredibly thoughtful. The place was charming and had a perfect location with walking everywhere as an option. I lavished in a lovely bathtub and slept cozily in a soft and comfy bed. Wonderful other guests made it a sociable and friendly atmosphere. We loved Rockland’s art scene and was so grateful we made the decision to come here. Perfect getaway anniversary weekend.

  • Sandi has a wonderful place. I felt right at home and it is so close to downtown. Really enjoyed Primo and In Good Company for dinner. Worth checking out. I highly recommend staying at Sandi’s! There is a nice common space upstairs (lots of great books and CDs) and especially loved the porch swings. 😊

Stay in the house in which Louise Nevelson learned piano in high school as cited in her biography “ A Passionate Life”. We are directly downtown across from the ferry terminal and have parking for two vehicles. Duel zone Sleep Number bed to adjust preferred firmness. We respect your privacy, and live next door if any pressing situations arise and you need us. Every stay helps us restore this old Victorian back to her glory. We have tons of documented history, and always love sharing it!
Many historic details are present throughout the house. From the 1890’s to the 1970’s this was home to the Birds, one of Rockland most prominent families. Local newspaper archives revealed many literary and music clubs where held in the parlor. Originally built by General Davis Tillson in 1868, it was a two story house. In the latter 1890s, the Bird family lifted the house, added an ornate first floor, and turned it into the Queen Ann you see today. The kitchen is fully stocked with most all cooking utensils for your use during your stay. We also provide a coffee pot with complementary coffee, cream, and sugar for your morning routine. We do have condiments stocked in the fridge and include a large array of spices should you choose to forgo the amazing Rockland restaurants and cook in.
We are just off the downtown strip and are within easy walking distance of Harbor Park and many of Rockland’s best restaurants, galleries, antique stores and local shops. We are also almost directly across Main Street/Route 1 from the Vinalhaven and North Haven Ferry Terminal should you wish to explore the islands.
  • A beautiful place, great location, nicely appointed and the hosts were attentive

  • Ian and Emily‘s place was perfect for my husband and I to spend two nights in Rockland. The central location couldn’t be better — 5 minute walk to the Vinalhaven ferry, shopping, restaurants, and excellent museums of Rockland. The apartment itself was spacious, comfortable, and clean. Ian and Emily were very responsive and nice. A great choice!

  • Amazing stay, location, hosts, amenities-- the whole package! Ian and Emily were extremely responsive to any questions we had, which makes a huge difference when renting a place. They offered some wonderful tips of the area, and were extremely thoughtful in making sure we had everything we needed. Perfect location, only a block to downtown Rockland and a short drive to Rockport and Camden. Thank you Emily and Ian for an amazing stay! Would highly recommend to anyone!!

Wight house was built by James Wight, a machinist and consulting steam engineer when he returned from serving in the Second Maine Regiment as Chief Musician in the civil war. He had moved up from Lowell Massachusetts where his parents remained. Very soon after the house was built, he married Emma Estelle Burpee. The Burpees owned the land on which the house sits and it was deeded to James at that time. Presumably he won over the Burpees and #26 was the love nest for his new wife.

  • This is a lovely, spacious place on a quiet street. We got the key from the lockbox and Sally's friendly and helpful neighbor met us later. The kitchen is full of useful amenities, and the very interesting Farnsworth Museum is just a couple blocks away. We would be happy to come here again.

Better for adults accustomed to living with antiques or in a historic home. The hosts are incredibly responsive and helpful. Many amenities and easy to cook in/eat at home. We will return!

  • The home has quite a history of it's own. It was delightful to stay here in such a quaint (and convenient!) part of this historical town. The owners are very organized, communicative and make the entire experience enjoyable. An acquaintance of the owners comes to greet you (at your convinence), answer any questions you have and give you information on the local town. The home is very clean and welcoming. Would definitely return for a stay.
