Our house is 2640 square feet. We own 1.34 acres in a wooded area. It's very quiet where we live and we have very few houses near us. We are also offering the use of our first floor: a shared living room and a shared kitchen. Guests are welcome to use the deck for hanging out or grilling.
All guest must remove shoes upon entering the house. Please place shoes on area rugs when entering. Guests are welcome to wear slippers, as long as they have no outside dirt. Please note that there will be a $5.00 fee for the use of the washer and dryer.
We live 1/2 mile from PA's largest natural lake. Our lake is approx. 8 miles around. You may take a bike to ride around the entire lake. We have bikes here to use , but you must remember that you ride at your own risk. Ricketts Glenn is approximately 25 to 35 minutes from our house... it depends on which trail you want to hike. There are a few restaurants around the lake to check out. Grotto Pizza is a must for pizza lovers! A must see spot is the public boat launch, where you can see the boats go out and come in.
  • This was a very nice room to rent. It is in their house that they live. It was comforting to know other people were right there.

  • Kyrstons place had everything you could need plus some! Beautiful, comfortable home in a nice serene area! Location was close to Ricketts Glen which I visited while there. She and her family along with Snickers (their friendly dog) were very welcoming! I’d definitely stay there again!

    Shari2019-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great and Kyrston is super personable. You can't beat the location and the value. I was there to work the local fair and it was perfect for me!

    Courtney2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean and orderly, accurate communication, lovely surroundings (walk the Falls Trail at Rickett's Glen!), and a gracious place to stay! Thanks!

    Jeremy2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We were welcomed us as we walked up to the door and were settled in quickly. Everything about the stay was terrific! The room was extremely comfortable and we were made to feel very much welcome. Her info about the local sights were spot on and made it easy to have a great time. Thank you, Kryston!!!

    Roger2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kyrston was a super host and made us feel comfortable in her home. The room we stayed in had a private balcony and a mini fridge which was very convenient and a nice view! I was a little worried that it might be too hot but the ceiling fan in the room and fans throughout the house kept everything cool that there was no need for a/c. She provided a basket of great breakfast options which we could just help ourselves. We were able to enjoy the lake and Kyrston provided us with chairs, towels, and even took us down there. Lastly we enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July barbecue with her and the family which was a great ending to a our last minute get away!

A TRULY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE -returning guest review ✔ Proud to be rated as GOLD KEY SUPER HOSTS by Airbnb since 2014! ✔ Go off-grid in this yurt with a Cedar Hot Tub all situated in a pristine wilderness in rural Pennsylvania. ✔ This is the place to reconnect. This is the place to be in touch with the environment. ✔ Did we mention the cedar hot tub is ALWAYS AVAILABLE for use?! :-)
✔ This is an ideal vacation spot for our city friends looking to unwind and disconnect! ✔ The yurt is off-grid, but we do supply you with two solar chargers if you need to charge your phone. We do have plenty of space for your tents if you want to bring friends. (The yurt sleeps a maximum of 2.) The area is widely known for birders. The property has nesting birds of many varieties including red-tailed hawks, robins, owls, hummingbirds, phoebes, blue jays, mockingbirds, king fishers, pileated woodpeckers, among others. Other noted aviary visitors include bald eagles and migrating geese. Fauna on the property include deer, foxes, groundhogs, chipmunks, squirrels, and rabbits.
This area of Mehoopany is sometimes called Champion Mountain, so named for the family who once live on our property. The ruins of their old homestead dates back to the late 1700s. The are only about 10 other houses within a mile of the cabin and many of them are our relatives, as one might expect for an old family farm.
  • Perfect weekend! Eddie and Liam were very helpful between bringing our bags to and from the yurt and answering all of our questions very promptly. We had a great time hanging by the fire and cooking with our dogs. We did a beautiful hike on Saturday morning and enjoyed the Grovedale winery (both only about a 20 min drive). We started the hot tub as soon as we got back and were able to enjoy it at the end of our night. We will definitely be back!

    Madison2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Pleasant hosts and clean accommodations. If you enjoy the outdoor experience you will like this step up from tenting it.

    Penny2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • my husband and i loved getting off the grid! we had a fantastic time and the guys gave us a lot of very helpful info for our stay.

    Mary2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Eddie & Liam's place out in the woods was absolutely perfect! They provided everything we needed to have a comfortable and peaceful weekend away. All amenities were well thought out and they provided an easy to follow video that showed us everything we needed to know. Check in and out was easy, and the resources they provided for places to eat, things to do, and highlights of the area was perfect. Fall is such a beautiful time to visit! Highly recommend.

    Aaron2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful location to stay! Our first time staying in a yurt and keeping everything off grid was a really nice added touch to help reset and just immerse in nature. The hot tub was AMAZING. My bf is probably tired of hearing me rave about the scent of the cedarwood but it was so relaxing. The outhouse was better than I ever expected it to be and super clean. The instructions were very easy to follow as well. We definitely over packed as they have so much stuff for you to use while you stay. All you really need are clothing food and some toiletries. I cant wait to come back and stay again! P.s. dont forget to look up at the night sky. Its breathtaking 💜

    Hailey2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Let me open with our stay was great and this place is great! Very unique and private. A few things you should know ahead of time: communicate your check in time with hosts so they can plan to help bring up your things. The hike to the yurt was a bit more than expected, (steeper and up hill) but worth the hike. The hot tub is awesome! I liked it more than the on grid electric ones. But, be forewarned that it is cedar and cedar seeps into the water like a tea. At first the water looks like it's dirty... And that might be a turn off, but it is a cedar tea bath which is much better than chlorine. There are wood chairs by the fire pit, but they got wet from rain, good idea to bring camp chairs or pads in case of rain. Nobody's fault but the weather, but that's outdoor life. This is info to help your stay be the best. Really beautiful and quiet. Great stay! Enjoy!

    Robert2019-09-05T00:00:00Z

  • Incredible facilities and an even more incredible host. Lisa made us feel right at home and it was just the relaxing vacation we were looking for.

    Chi2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • This place was just what we were looking for. Lisa was a wonderful hostess and made us feel right at home...literally. We were having work done on our home and had to leave for 5 days and Lisa’s place was close, let us bring our kitty with us and was a very comfortable home away from home. Very quiet too!

    Heike2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • I am a frequent visitor to Lisa's place and have never been disappointed. She is a great hostess and I feel right at home when I am there. My room is always very clean, very private, and well decorated and comfortable. And Lisa is always busy making improvements to the property to make it even more appealing. It is totally a relaxing and serene place for either a stopover, or an extended stay. Highly recommended of course!!

    Ryan2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is a fantastic host. Her place is located between NYC and Toronto, which makes it great when you want to start driving right after work and continue the rest of the trip early in the morning. Her property is very spacious and cool. We had a fire pit going by the pond, and her property has an extensive yard to play. I Highly recommend it!

  • Quiet and private. Karin is a great host and you won't be disappointed.

    Bill2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Karin is a timely communicator, the listing is accurate, and the space is very clean! Plus, the bed is a very cool log-style frame with flannel cotton sheets and woodland décor. Very comfortable!

    Kara2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Karin’s approach to being an Airbnb host is just right. She offers accommodations, amenities (stacks of towels, fresh coffee), and privacy similar to a traditional hotel experience, except that I, the guest, am in her home and completely comfortable with her and her dogs/cats. I feel like I’m visiting a friend. This is my second stay and it couldn’t have been better.

    Pascha2018-06-03T00:00:00Z

One of them even joined us for a little walk in the snow. We really liked it. The house was beautiful and the environment very quiet. We would recommend to stay with Karin to anyone.

    Linda2017-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stay here. It is away from the hustle and bustle, and completely relaxing. Karin has wonderful pets that are friendly and fun, and Karin herself is kind and gracious as a host. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom is updated and beautiful. Karin even made breakfast for my son, which was greatly appreciated.

    Marie2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • We have spent a wonderful time at this place. Karin welcomed us in her home super friendly. The view from the porch is very nice and the pool is great. The dogs are very friendly and they get along with the cats. We recommend this place as a retreat before/after a city visit.

    Inge2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Karins accommodation is very remote. Very quiet and in the middle of nature - perfect to escape everyday life. Nevertheless you have everything you need. The room is large, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom very clean. To have Karin as a hostess is perfect, the cohabitation and communication can not be imagined. Worth every trip, only to be recommended!

It is close to: quaint towns with restaurants, movies and shopping; the Susquehanna River; outdoor activities; PA Route 6; and it is in the vicinity of larger towns like Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, PA. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is just 1 hr away. You’ll love the privacy, location, comfort. Great for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers... or anyone who wants to get away from it all for a bit.
Enjoy lake living in this 2nd floor lake apartment. The apartment is set just off the lake, which allows for greater privacy while still having easy lake and doc access. The living space is bright and open - with a large bedroom, large bathroom and large living room, all with plenty of closet space. It is spacious and looks out over the lake through four large windows. There is also a desk for your use. When the weather is favorable, enjoy the private deck. The outdoor grill and table are yours to enjoy, as is the lake view - pretty at every hour of the day. The three mile walk around the Main Lake is a favorite activity, as it takes you by many picturesque homes and cabins as well as through a beautiful natural area (Lake Carey has two sections, the Main Lake and the Flow Pond - your apartment is on the Main Lake). The lake is fantastic for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and rowing.

  • Place was very clean and comfortable. The hostess had clear instructions for everything. Kitchen was very organized and provided numerous useful things including ketchup/mayo, paper towels, coffee, the fridge was clean and had ice premade for us. Felt like every detail was well thought out for making is comfortable...

  • The Airbnb was very clean and well kept. There was a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and overall the place was perfectly functional and quaint. Amy was quick with responses and also left little notes with clear information. The only thing was that we thought we were renting the whole place but it was actually the bottom half of a house. This didn’t end up being an issue though so it was fine.

    Sara2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Amy’s place is great! It’s in a beautiful area. The rooms are clean and cute. And she’s super responsive and helpful with planning things to do.

  • Clean and very thoughtful touches made our stay here amazing. Dining table had oranges and apples waiting for us. Bed was very comfortable. Fire pit can be moved anywhere away from the house - Amy had fire starter, dry/wet logs. Sit by the fire while drinking wine and let the wet ones dry up while enjoying the fire.

  • Lovely location! We loved the outdoor chairs and pergola area with the river view. We went for just the weekend and did so much! Kayaking, winery, state park trip and went out to dinner! The bathroom is super cool, and the cabin is cozy and quaint. Would definitely stay again, especially since we brought our fur babies. Thanks so much!!

  • We had a super relaxing weekend by Robs cabin. The cabin was really cute and comfortable and it was a good place to unwind. Rob and his wife came by after we checked in to make sure everything was in order and to answer some of our questions. The cabin is steps away from the river which is amazing. But you do have to cross the road to get there so it’s not as quiet as we hoped it would be. You should note that the tap water smells of sulfur but spring water is provided for drinking. We especially liked the pergola where you can sit overlooking the river. And the surrounding area is quite beautiful. Thanks Rob for a great weekend.

    Ellen2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • I came here to get awag with my pup for a few days. I brought/picked up basic cooking and grilling needs, which was a good idea. There are stores within a 15 minute drive if you do happen to forget anything. The property and cabins are super peaceful and there is plenty to do between hiking, fishing, and kayaking. Rob was great and answered all my questions promptly. I stayed in the smaller cabin, which was great for my needs but may be cramped for more than two people. There is no hunting on the property, but you may hear gunshots in the distance. Overall a really enjoyable stay.

  • Great stay! Visited the local kayak shop (walking distance from cabin) for a day trip, as well as the local winery which was lovely and about a mile down the road. Also located close to great hiking (rickets glen)! Cute little cabin that had everything we needed.

  • Just DELIGHTFUL! This quaint and cozy home was just delightful. The space is beautifully appointed and Kimberly has thought of everything! We arrived later than expected and after our long drive were thrilled to find the refrigerator equipped with refreshingly cold water. So thoughtful (and there was really good coffee for the morning)! This set the tone for our wonderful stay. Everything was as pictured and described in the listing. The beds and baths were excellent! The outdoor deck facing the lake was such an awesome bonus and the mild fall weather allowed us to spend time relaxing out there, even after sunset. We were all very comfortable and highly recommend this rental to anyone visiting the area. The location is super convenient to anything you might need. Be sure to treat yourself to Massimo's Pizza on Main street (a 5 minute drive) for delicious pizza and pasta. We loved it! Head over to Montrose Produce (Russell Farms) for delicious cider donuts and a plethora of other goodies. Do allow yourself time to browse. I can't emphasize enough how sweet this home is and how accommodating Kimberly is, a great hostess! Treat yourself, book here. We will definitely be back!!

  • This house is immaculately clean and so roomy! We’re four friends who came to the Endless Mountain region for an art opening in Binghamton, a party near New Milford, and the Montrose Blueberry Festival. The house was a perfect home base for all three. Comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen, and wonderful patio overlooking the lake make this a great place to stay.

Peaceful, spacious, with three cute rooms upstairs. A full bathroom upstairs & downstairs—and a lovely patio to sit on and enjoy our morning coffee while watching the lake. I’d highly recommend this home to future guests!

We live 1/2 mile from PA's largest natural lake. The lake is approximately 8.5 miles around. Guests will have access to the first floor: a shared living room and a shared kitchen. Guests may also use a shared deck with a grill, table and 4 chairs. We have a Keurig and K-cups, so if you would like to make a coffee in the morning, please feel free to do so.
Our house is 2640 square feet. We are a family of 3 people, 1 dog and 1 cat. Our home is a no-shoes house. You will have to place your shoes on the area rugs upon entering the home. You are welcome to wear slippers, as long as they have no outside dirt.
On our street, it is very quiet. We have neighbors, but not too close. At night here, you won't hear much... maybe just some baby frogs out in the pond at the back of our house. You may even see some deer in our front yard.

  • Kryston was a fantastic host, had coffee and toiletries, as well as everything being very clean and inviting. I would highly recommend, did I mention that she was a great host?

    Christopher2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most wonderful stay with Kryston and her family! The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable and we loved having our own balcony off our room where we gazed at the stars at night. The fridge on the balcony was helpful too. Kryston, her husband, Chuck, and her son, Cameron, are all so friendly and helpful. When we ran out of something, they were there offering us some of theirs to use. When we couldn’t find anywhere to rent kayaks to go kayaking on Harvey’s Lake, Kryston offered to rent me hers. She has a single and a double kayak. The lake is a private lake, so there are no public kayak rentals. Her son, Cameron, even paddled the kayak to the boat launch for us so we could enjoy a morning kayaking on the lake. So we didn’t have to transport it at all. He brought it right to us! They also had so many helpful suggestions on things to do and where to eat in the area. We had an amazing time with Kryston and her family!

Cozy home on the water with private dock on Harvey's Lake. ( We do have a two night minimum stay). Incredible views - hike, bike, kayak, fish - it's all right here! We are very close to Rickett's Glen, Misericordia University, Penn State Wilkes-Barre Campus, Irem Gold Course, Huntsville Golf Club and many other area attractions. Not too far away you will also find Steamtown, Montage Mountain, Elk Mountain and all the sights of Northeastern Pennsylvania's Endless Mountains.
The home is equipped with wi fi, coffee maker, microwave, tv. You can walk 50 yards to the Skillet for the best breakfast, lunch or dinner on the lake. Drive 1 mile to Grotto pizza or for fine dining, Damien's on the Lake. Relax on the screened in porch or take in the views from the second story balacony porch - with any luck you might see an eagle or two.
  • Great location, great home. The beauty of the lake and the area made for fabulous and much needed getaway. Would absolutely book again. Justin could not have been more accommodating and helpful at every step from booking to check out. Great host!

  • Beautiful, clean modern lake house. Can’t ask for more if you want to unplug and just relax. Hotel-quality linens and towels, little extras like chocolates and travel shampoo were great. Not many channels on tv and only one tv in living room, if you want a DVD player they do offer one which was great. Beautiful place.

  • Great Harvey's Lake location with thoughtful amenities, a helpful host, and an easy walk to breakfast. Recommended getaway for NEPA travels.

  • Justin & Sherri were wonderful hosts! We were in town for a wedding and this was the perfect place to stay. The house had a beautiful view of the lake, was walking distance to a great restaurant, and they didn't miss any details! My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend at the house! Would book again!

  • The Splash Inn was excellent! Such a big house with amazing views and right on the water!

    Elizabeth2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Above and beyond is how I would describe the experience of our stay. Justin is an amazing host and is quick to communicate back and forth. There were so many amazing little touches: healthful continental breakfast options, a Keurig or drip coffee maker depending on what you are comfortable with, a nice selection of tea as well. Everything was so clean and organized, it was easy to find the silverware, cleaning supplies, etc. The best part of our stay is how calm and relaxing the location is. Anytime we needed a break from family activities, the Splash Inn was waiting with open arms. We only stayed a long weekend but we will definitely be checking availability next summer for a longer stay so we can enjoy the lake access and more local fun. We definitely would suggest Splash Inn to anyone visiting Harvey's Lake or surrounding areas.

4 acres of Railroad bed for hiking. This is a rural/country setting, but not too far to stores and shopping. There is wild here. I mean there is nature ... and wild places for them to live.

  • Lisa's place is better than advertised. I came for a weekend away from the busyness of home and work and intended to focus on some important projects. There is very little traffic in her area, the property is large and beautiful with several awesome amenities, and her pets are friendly and particularly well-behaved. It was a productive and refreshing weekend for me and I look forward to booking again.

    Seth2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's house is a little bit of heaven! We were greeted at the door by Rusty, a huge orange and white tabby cat, who was absolutely the most affectionate cat we had ever seen, he even spent the night sleeping on the foot of the bed! The house is full of special touches, such as salt lamps, art works, glass paperweights (which reminded me of my great grandmother, who collected them), incense and candles, and lovely old furniture. Outside there is a patio with hot tub, which was great to relax in, listening to the wind chimes and looking out over a spacious lawn complete with pond and deer. Lisa was a perfect host and we can't wait to stay there again when we come back that way in the fall, if not sooner!

    Robin2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is a wonderful host. Great hospitality and very nice. "Off the beaten path" definitely described this stay to a t. I loved it. Relaxing and inviting. Beautiful countryside. Dont forget to enjoy Lisas beautiful artwork and the hot tub - best when weather is cold 😁 Will visit again.

A wonderful and relaxing place to get away with the family or group of friends. It has an elevator for all 3 floors, jacuzzi, and balconies that give beautiful views of the lake and sunsets. Dock, grill and bar are included with the rental.
The location is in a perfect spot on the lake to view the sunset, and is also a short walking distance to the restaurants/ bars in the area. This house can easily accommodate everyone, from people with physical handicaps (with the elevator) to children (we have rafts and small life vests available). It is a wonderful place for a group of friends or family to stay, or even have a corporate retreat. The house regularly sleeps 8 people, but 2 extra twin air mattresses or cots can be added in the larger rooms to sleep 10. We do charge an extra fee for groups over 10. The house has a SmartTV. The size of the house is a good size for group activities, but big enough (3,900 sq. feet) to give each person their own space to be alone and reflect. * Please not that we MUST collect a mandatory 5% local tax upon arrival, as Airbnb only collects occupancy tax. We appreciate your understanding. Thank you.
Harvey's Lake is a quiet place and tends to get busier during the weekends and holidays. Many people from the busier towns of Wilkes-Barre and Scranton areas have their vacation / second house here. There are a few restaurants / bars around the lake, 3 within walking distance. It's very relaxing to sit on the patio or read on the dock and sunbathe. You will probably want to spend much of your time on the dock, since it is where you can grill, drink, entertain, sunbathe, play music and swim. *The closest grocery / beer store is 5 miles away at Weis Market in Dallas, PA. You may want to go there before arriving at the lake house. Also the closest liquor store is next to Connor's Grillroom in Dallas.
  • Maria’s place was beautiful, well positioned and the perfect winter weekend getaway. With four little kids, there was plenty of space to move, and the elevator provided a lot of entertainment. We would happily come back during the summer to take advantage of the dock and water sports.

  • Fantastic location. Ample parking. Large comfortable home with beautiful view of sunset. Great for large groups. Elevator made transporting luggage & groceries a breeze. Highly recommend!

    Therese2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Maria was an amazing host, from ease of check in to providing a number to contact her at during our stay. Her home was spotless and the location could not be more perfect. We were in town to celebrate my Uncle's 60th birthday so we had some people staying in the home but our whole family was able to be comfortable at the dock for the whole weekend. Good times were had and happy memories were made. From the youngest (2 years) to the oldest (70- something) everyone had a blast. I highly recommend Maria's home to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation at the lake... but not on July 4th because we will be back for years to come!

    Ashley2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The views are beautiful.

    Elizabeth2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Tips: Cook all meals outside on the deck over looking the lake. Fish! Watch the sunsets, they are the best in the world. Don't forget to go to Hillside Dairy to buy ice cream and eat it on the dock!

    Tim2019-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Maria’s place has views for days. What a way to spend some time after work in the area!

    Seth2019-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Maria’s place is absolutely amazing! It is the perfect spot on Harvey’s Lake for a weekend getaway with friends and family. Maria was very communicative and very helpful throughout the whole process. Would definitely recommend!

Newly constructed Chalet style house at Harvey's Lake, PA located in the Endless Mountains. Tastefully decorated and furnished three bedroom house with a birds eye view of the Lake from the large Prow Front deck. Close to Rickets Glenn State Park.
  • Great weekend getaway with family! Good sized 3 bedrooms and 2 nice bathrooms. Nice place to gather and relax with family!

  • Catherine was a great host We truly enjoyed ourselves. The lake with the snow all around was picturesque. We will be back.

    Monica2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Chalet was exceptional! The house is beautiful and modern. It was just the right size for our party of 5 adults. The view of the lake from the deck is amazing. Our favorite part, as always, is that Catherine is accommodating to our 2 dogs. Sometimes when traveling with dogs you have to settle for less than perfect housing, but this is not the case at all with the Chalet. It is one of the loveliest places we have ever stayed.

    Alesha2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great week at the lake. House was a little hard to locate Google maps didn't navigate well and house number isn't visible. The picture of the house helped. The beach at the end of the road was great. House was clean and comfortable with extras in the kitchen.

Welcome to the Bohemian Cottage! Located just seven minutes from downtown Dallas on two idyllic acres, you'll be away from the hustle yet close to nearby colleges, restaurants, and wedding venues. Here, your bedroom will be freshly cleaned and cozy, complete with towels, wash cloth, and a treat, as well as extra blankets and pillows and fresh flowers on your nightstand. I provide guests breakfast and snacks throughout your stay.
The bottom floor of the house is a beautifully renovated apartment where I (the host) live with my super friendly lab mix June and skittish cat Charley. If you are renting a private room, you'll have access to everything except my private bedroom and desktop computer. If you rent the entire space, I will be gone and so will the pets, but nearby in case of any questions or emergencies. The living room is bright and airy, the kitchen is cozy and stocked with fresh local eggs, bread, oatmeal, fruit, and a variety of coffee, tea, and granola bars. Hang out on the large front porch or back deck with swings and rocking chairs. The bathroom has a tub and shower combo.
The cottage is located so close to town and other conveniences yet tucked away.
  • Staying here was the best decision we made. The space is beautifully styled, June is the most loving animal, and Amanda has a gift for people. The home was cleaner than a 5 star hotel and overflowing with healthy plants, thoughtful books, and warm lighting. A true rare gem....the home, the dog, and the host.🌷

  • We love Amanda and the space! She was the best Air BnB hostess we’ve had. Normally we don’t talk with the hosts, but she was so kind and down to earth. Feels like we made a new friend. Plus the house was so fashionable with lots of small touches, like lavender pillow spray! We’re absolutely coming back!

    Shelby2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 perfection. Mwah! Super stylish, cozy, quaint, Amanda and June are the best most thoughtful hosts you could ask for. The house itself is super clean, has comfy beds, great common spaces but the reason we enjoyed our stay was truly the company. Thank you, can’t wait to come back!

    Stephanie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda has a cozy little hideaway, not too far from Wilkes-Barre. Just what we needed for a restful stay. The queen bedroom was quite comfortable, and I really liked her pour over coffee station with quick to-go snacks. Wish we had more time to enjoy the front and back porch, but we mostly just lounges in the living room. Overall a very charming place, one of the coziest AirBnBs I’ve ever stayed at. Even though host Amanda was not around much that weekend, she kept in good contact with us and helped us find what we needed. You won’t be disappointed!

    Joshua2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amanda is amazing, the house is beautiful, June is my new best freind, looking forward to future stays, 10 out of 10

    Dave2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • It was such a joy to stay at Amanda’s place - a peaceful, beautiful rural setting.... her home has so many thoughtful touches.... lovely books thoughtfully placed, that say “read me” ...... a wonderful porch at the front, and a sun room/ patio at the back ... both great places to just hang out, and chat, or read .... Amanda is an incredible host and creates an easeful atmosphere. The bed was as sooo comfortable! The sheets pretty, and with a new crisp, clean feel. Amanda provides local eggs for breakfast which are delicious. Snacks and tea / coffee are available. Honestly I did not want to leave! I feel recharged.

This lakefront cottage is an ideal getaway, and the fishing is GREAT! Relax and take in the view of Little Elk Lake and surrounding farmland. You may also catch a glimpse or our resident bald eagle, blue herons or beavers! The lake is small (42 acres) so no motor boats are allowed, keeping it nice and quiet. Fishermen tout the wide-mouth bass, perch, grouper and more. There are so many ways to enjoy the outdoors--swim from the float, lounge on the shore or enjoy the fire pit at night.
    • The "great room" has a picture window looking out over the lake. There is also a flat-screened "smart" t.v. with basic dish service. • There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and pull-out couch. • The second bedroom is more of a sleeping alcove than a bedroom (see diagram) but has a comfortable full-sized bed. • Additional sleeping is in the loft over the great room which has 2 twin-sized mattresses and 2 additional sleeping mats. The loft ceiling is low but it looks out over the living room so it does not feel cramped. • The cottage sleeps up to 8 adults plus 2 children. See cottage diagram for more info. • Child friendly amenities: Travel crib, clip-on chair, some toys. • The kitchen is old (think “Brady Bunch”), but clean and has everything needed for most cooking as well as some basic staples. • Propane grill and a smoker.
Located in the Endless Mountains between Binghamton NY and Scranton PA. It is a very rural area with several charming country towns to explore. • Montrose, with its white courthouse and town green is 9 miles away, has restaurants, a brewery and Salt Springs State park. • Tunkhannock sits on the Susquehanna River 11 miles away, where you can enjoy hot-air ballooning and skydiving (did I say ENJOY skydiving??) there are also many little shops and restaurants and 2 parks one with a boat launch. • Honesdale and Wyalusing are a bit further but also fun. • Elk Mountain Ski resort is about a 50-minute drive. • The Corning Glass Museum, about an hour away, is a great outing for a rainy day.
  • Talk about a view!!!! Simply breathtaking. The cabin is comfortable, clean and relaxing. With all the things you think you may need: games, pantry items, boat, dock, and a campfire pit. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. Doug and Karen were amazing hosts with quick responses and patience showing our daughter a woodworking project.

    Danielle2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Karen was very quick to respond, accommodating, and pleasant to work with. The cottage was absolutely perfect in every way! I grew up on Big Elk Lake, and visiting home is always a wonderful time. Karen's lake cottage is set up perfectly with just the right amount of country charm. It is clean, inviting, children friendly (the loft is the best), and super fun! We will definitely be going back as soon as possible!

    Sarah2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Super kid friendly! All the basic kitchen essentials you need for baking or cooking to your heart’s content. Great for multi family or a large group. Super relaxing and low maintenance setting.

    Nicole2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view of lake! Great fishing! Looking forward to returning!

    Shea2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is such a gem!!! Do not let the lack of A/C scare you off-the nights are so cool, even in August- we needed pants and sweatshirt in the evenings. We kept the windows open 24/7 and the home stayed cool even during the day. There are so many great thinks to say: -Amazing water pressure in the shower. -Super comfortable beds ( it was the best sleep I’ve had in months!) -open floor plan with gorgeous views of the lake from every bedroom and the common areas -clean kitchen appliances -comfortable couches -Smart TV -from the access dock you can paddle to the floating dock that is further out in lake to layout on the lounge chair or jump off for swimming and docking the boat and canoe. -fire pit, smoker, grill -Private playground in the backyard -very friendly locals and neighbors! -We went to Uptown Grill in Montrose one evening for dinner and it has the small town feel where everyone chatted and was friendly. -we are a family of runners and soccer players, so one afternoon we grabbed a ball, headed to the local Montrose High School, ran 3 miles on their track and played soccer on their fields- it is such a family friendly community! Karen was very responsive and a wonderful host! We hope to rent this cottage every summer.

My house was constructed new and is about 1/4 mile from the lake. The view from the kitchen living room and dining room is overlooking a brambling brook across the street. If you saunter out onto the deck perhaps you can even hear it. This is a perfect headquarters to discover the wonders of the back mountain, Ricketts Glen or the urban ambiance of Wilkes-Barre. Scranton and it's mine tours not to mention world class Pizza known as old forge style is not far away either. Relax and enjoy.
The whole house is yours to enjoy.
The neighborhood is quiet and and usually serene.

  • The house was a great getaway. The outdoor space was comfortable and provided options to make it easy to enjoy the outdoors however you wanted. The inside was well kept and the open space made for an easy place to relax and had such an inviting atmosphere. We had a great time when we were able to enjoy the space, and it was great for kids as well. We didn’t really try swimming in the pond as we hoped, but boating and walking around it were very nice.

    Scott2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very relaxing! Grilled and floated in the pond most of the day. So many bed rooms, plenty of everyday items needed. Absolutely loved our stay!

  • This Log Cabin is awesome! It’s perfect for small groups of friends or families. Steven was kind enough to allow us to have our weeding reception in his back yard this past weekend. The yard is so beautiful with the big pond and large trees. The house was perfect for our families to congregate in the huge living room and kitchen. We made all of our food for the wedding and the kitchen worked out really well. We also had plenty of room for friends to stay with us who were helping put the wedding together. Even though we had a few surprise quests (we found a stray cat and saw a bear!) We had an amazing time. Steven was available via phone during our stay and was a great host. Thanks Steven!

    Sarah2018-08-20T00:00:00Z

  • Our stay at Steve's place was truly wonderful! We stayed for a little over a month and Steve was extremely attentive and reachable whenever we had any questions. This late 19th century farmhouse has been beautifully restored to feature the original hardwood flooring throughout but comes equipped with all the most important 21st century updates (heat, running water, electricity, wifi). Our 3 bd/ 1 bath home is perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway for couples, friends, or families, whether you want to serve a 3-course meal at our antique dining room table or relax at the picnic table while grilling in our outdoor fireplace.
Our home is set on a relatively quiet country road, with no neighbors in sight. The house is set up in typical farmhouse style, with the common areas downstairs in a flow-through floor plan and the bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor. The view of mountains from the front porch is breathtaking, and the backyard is bordered by a stone wall with a built-in fireplace for outdoor cooking.
This home is conveniently located only a 5 minute drive from Lake Winola or a 10 minute drive from the Susquehanna River. A large part of the area's charm is the vast tracts of pristine wilderness and verdant farmland, but basic amenities (local grocery store, pizza place, and gas station) are available only a short drive away. Locals think nothing of driving 30 minutes to a destination, and there are a vast number of tourist attractions in all directions to impress every member of your party, dependent on the season (wine tastings at Nimble Hill Winery, a trip into a once-active coal mine at the Anthracite Heritage Museum, skiing, golfing, berry picking, etc.) A list of local businesses and attractions is provided at the property for guests looking for recommendations. Our property is also only 5 minutes from the Barn at Glistening Pond, making it the closest lodging available for out of town wedding guests.
  • You can expect rest and relaxation. The birds and animal sounds are so soothing. Definitely worth the trip!
