A nearby walk offers antique shops, galleries, restaurants, and playgrounds. On the stream, kayaking, fishing, and bird-watching are all available right from the yard. Boat with motor, kayaks, life vests, and fishing nets are all available on-site, as well as a registered Maine Guide and licenses. The area offers many hiking opportunities including the Appalachian Trail, Baxter Park trails, and Mt. Katahdin. Swimming, moose tours, rafting, hunting, and snowmobiling are also nearby!
Pots, pans, dishes, utensils, linens for the beds, towels & washcloths, hot water, heat in the Winter and AC in the Summer are all included in our cozy, vintage home. We also have a space-heater for additional heat in the winter, if required. I am also a Registered Maine Guide and can issue both fishing and hunting licenses for an extra fee, as well as actual guiding services. On the subject of entertainment, there are books and magazines in the house, but it's not cabled for TV. We do have a new 40" flatscreen Samsung TV (not shown in pics) & VCR in there for some nostalgic old movies (there are about 3 boxes worth of movies available), but no actual "TV" service. There is HDMI hookup for laptops or consoles you bring, if desired. For WiFi, there is a router in the AirBnB providing 15mbps download, 1mbps upload. As far as beds go, there are 5 physical beds: 4 twins upstairs, 1 double downstairs, and 2 single-sized floor mattresses are available if more sleeping arrangements are required. Comfortably, the accommodation can sleep 8 total. I want to mention children under 12 are free! So on the checkout, just select the number that are coming minus children under 12. That being said, we do not provide crib space for sleeping.
Residential. Just two blocks from "downtown", right on a 2-mile walking path through town, and with full access to Millinocket Stream right from the back yard.
  • Great place!

  • We loved staying in the Base Camp Cottage. The owners are next door and extremely accommodating. Sue had everything we needed in the kitchen- pots and pans, utensils, plastic bags, foil. The description of the Cottage is accurate. We used this location as a stopping point between St John NB Canada and Portland ME. An 18 mile drive to the southern portion of Baxter State Park was a beautiful drive. Although there is no cable tv, we would have enjoyed to traditional games and old movies provided. We were so tired from our hikes that a quick meal and a hot shower were enough!

  • I so enjoyed this beautiful old house (1910 if I remember correctly). It is a museum piece! It was also very clean and comfortable. It had absolutely everything I needed and more. The neighborhood is very quiet. I slept so well! The river behind the house is beautiful. I took tons of photos of the fall trees reflected on the water. So beautiful. The owners are very nice! I hope to return soon!

  • Alfred and Sue live right next door and are always willing to help, or chat. The kitchen is well equipped. The house is just 16 miles from Baxter State park.

  • Alfred and Sue's place was everything we needed for a great and comfortable stay while visiting Millinocket. The location is perfect - Just a 5 to 10 minute walk to different restaurants, cafe's and the bar. The place was stocked with plenty of blankets and pillows to keep you cozy when in the cottage. This lovely home isn't for those looking for high tech, high speed internet. Instead, explore the beautiful river behind the house! That's what Maine's all about. Alfred and Sue were a pleasure to talk to as well, offering their insights and tips about the area. Very communicative and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Alfred and Sue were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The accommodations were quiet, roomy and comfortable. It was a perfect location for visiting Baxter State Park and surrounding areas. It has everything you need for a great stay.

  • Amazing communication! Flexible check-in. I have stayed in Airbnbs across the country and I always love it when I meet the host. It was late at night but he still met us and made sure we were all set. The place was absolutely spotless, warm and cozy. If you’re heading up to northern Maine definitely check this host out, you won’t be disappointed. Highly recommend!!!

  • Alec's apartment is in a super convenient location right in the center of Millinocket. It's a comfortable, spacious, and very clean apartment. We came the night before a Katahdin hike, and wish we'd stayed longer!

    Jake2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. It was perfect for our Baxter State Park/Katahdin hike. It was spacious yet cozy. Alec and Sharon went out of their way to provide us with everything we needed. Sharon was very attentive and helped us out in the clutch early in the morning on the day of our big hike. The kitchen and bathroom had everything we needed, and the whole place was very tidy. Thanks again Alec and Sharon!

    John2019-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay and Alec went above and beyond in hospitality. I asked if we could extend our check out time and they were very accommodating. Coffee and fruit were available and we had everything we needed in the kitchen to cook some food. After a long day of hiking it was nice to come back, relax, and turn on some Netflix. Also, my husband forgot his phone and Alec was so nice to offer to mail it to us first thing the next day. The only issue we had was the smell of smoke inside the house.

Kiss all your cares goodbye, rest and relax, or seek out the many adventures here in the great north woods. Even during this crisis, I invite you to come to Bear's den where I am doing everything in my power to clean and disinfect my camp thoroughly between each guest. We are situated on a peninsula over looking Deep Cove and Ambajejus lake. Just 11 miles from Baxter St Park, and 40 min to KATAHDIN Woods & Waters. We have a Gorgeous New Down Filled Sectional Sleeper w/Chase Lounge and 2 bunk bed
Bears Den is a cozy cabin nestled in the woods on a Peninsula over looking Deep Cove, and you have a very private beach on the other side of the road over looking Ambajejus and Mt. Katahdin. Sunrise on the Cove Side, and Sunset on the Beach!! The views from the picture windows are stunning. The interior is all knotty pine, in classic Maine style. The kitchen is well appointed, and there is a full bathroom, but it is small, and it is not handicap accessible. I have an incinerator toilet, but Please don't use it without getting the instructions directly from me. It's a very private location, quiet and beautiful. 25 minuets from Millinocket, and just 10 minuets from the Trading Post. We have our own Boat Ramp on the Causeway leading into camp. You also have access to 2 Kayaks, a paddle or peddle boat, one Stand Up Paddleboard, an Old Town Canoe, and a small boat with a trolling motor. 350lb max weight limit for the boat. There are steps going into the camp, going down to the bathroom, and a dozen steps going down to the dock. Bears Den is in God's country. It's in a beautiful rugged part of Maine, but we are in the north woods 3 miles down a dirt road and up a rocky hill. The camp and surrounding areas are not accessible to individuals in a wheelchair or those who have trouble negotiating tight spaces. Please be sure to read thru the listing completely, and have everyone in your party do so as well. It is important that everyone is clear about the directions, rules, amenities, and the little nuances listed here.
We are in God's country. It's an amazing beautiful place. Bears Den is located on a peninsula, and there are several other camps around, but can't really be seen. We are literally in the woods. There are ton's of activities nearby, and some wonderful stores and restaurants. The Trading post has quick convienece store items, plus GREAT pizza, lobster rolls, and AMAZING homemade desserts as well as souvenirs and clothing. They have a wonderful kids section! Next door is the Big Moose with a nice pub and local brews on tap. Close by is River Drivers restaurant and the new England outdoor center which is my personal favorite. In town the Appalachian trail Cafe has a great breakfast and they serve homemade donuts. A Few Museums and Art Galleries are a must on a Rainy Day If you choose adventure, there is White Water Rafting, Sky Diving, Pontoon Plane Rides, and so much more. A side note, if you are planning on climbing Katahdin be sure to make a reservation, and don't underestimate the mightiness of this mountain. Please do your research, and be prepared for anything. I also strongly Suggest a Minimum 3 Night Stay for anyone Climbing. Note also there are no dogs allowed in Baxter State Park. If you want to use a guide service please go to the link below. Paul is wonderful guide super knowledgeable and I guarantee you will enjoy it. https://www.moosewoodsguideservice.com https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10214987085504796&id=1658990200 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1236822833147304&id=866272530202338 Check out the link above for a local View of the Katahdin area
  • This cabin was the perfect lakeside location for our leaf peeping vacation! It was the most unique place we have stayed at and we loved burning our poop (in the incinerator toilet).

    Sara2019-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful, secluded space to stay. It was the perfect place to chill outlastway through a fall road trip and Nancy made us feel right at home in her home. Kayaking on the lake was a real bonus too!

    Alex2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was clean and was exactly as described. It was peaceful and quiet and we enjoyed the use of the kayaks and boat. We would absolutely stay again.

    Wendy2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • My second October weekend at Nancy’s. Absolutely gorgeous location. Comfortable, so clean. Incredible views of the lake on one side and Katahdin across the road (get up for sunrise!). It’s so relaxing and you are “away from it all”. Nancy is a great host! Very responsive, excellent communication and truly cares about your experience. She takes great pride in her camp and the area and wants you to love it as much as she does.

    Michelle2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend stay at Nancy’s quaint cabin was unbelievable! We were lucky to get such beautiful weather which helped us to enjoy everything that this home and location had to offer. Our first night there Nancy told us we had to look at the stars... and let me just say WOW!!! My boyfriend and I spent almost 2 hours out on the little dock staring up at the sky. Neither of us had ever seen anything like that before. The next day we took the boat out on the lake and explored around a bit. This place has breathtaking views and is so quiet. Exactly what you need to get away and detach from reality for a couple days. Nancy was an amazing host and was MORE than helpful with anything and everything you may need. She was always quick to respond to calls or texts. She offered wonderful suggestions on places to go and gave very detailed directions. Nancy is everything you could look for in a host. I hope to come back one day! Thank you Nancy!!

  • Bears Den was exactly what was advertised.

    Darren2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy is the best host we could have ever asked for! Her place was breathtaking, and beyond anything words can describe. It was myself and three boys who made the greatest memories and are already planning another trip to this very spot. The amenities were everything we needed & we made use of all of it. From the lake, to the rope swing across the lake, fire pit & grill. Nancy thank you for letting us stay at your place again. It was the perfect getaway from the world!

    Sydney2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Nancy is a great hostess. She responds right away to texts and initiated a lot of communication with reminders in the days leading up to the trip. Definitely make sure to get drinks and food at The River Driver’s Restaurant. The staff is very polite and attentive. The strip steak is delicious and they have a nice cocktail menu. Nancy’s house is the perfect place for a cozy and private getaway. I highly recommend Nancy’s house.

Small cottage where we live on a chain of five lakes with a loft containing two twin and one full sized beds. Private sleeping cabin (no bath) with a full bed in loft. Large garage with 7 beds in open upstairs room. Full bathroom in main cabin. One spinet piano in main cabin and one baby grand piano upstairs in garage. I want you to know that YOU WILL NOT BE ALONE because we live in the cottage. You will have access to the entire property including the kitchen and semi-private sleeping.
The cabin is accessible year round by a 5 mile private gravel road plowed by volunteers. You will see stars you have never seen before. We will give you “your space” and time to be alone, but remember, WE LIVE HERE. We offer you a “bed and breakfast” - and access to the entire facility.
Summer home (cabin) nestled in the forest on a lake shore with spectacular neighbors. The trees give us privacy if you are a naturalist of prefer to sunbathe au natural.
  • Dave is the most active and attentive host I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know in my stays with AirBnb. This is our second time staying at his cabin for an annual winter sporting event in the area—he is generous, thoughtful, and engaged to the point that our stays with him have become legendary among our friends, everyone wanting to join in for the next year. It is clear that his open-hearted ness is genuine and that he looks as forward to visitors as we have looked forward to our visits. Thank you Dave!

    Megan2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Don't hesitate to book with Dave. A perfect location not far from town and other local attractions. Dave is a perfect host and a local expert. We could not have been more impressed.

    Katie2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I even begin? The basics first: Everything was clean, and lovingly decorated. The place is beautiful with a view over the lake surrounded by trees - just a slice of heaven. We had a private cozy area upstairs in the main cabin all to ourselves and Dave made us breakfast, even when we got up at 5 am. (There also is a big beautiful group sleeping area in his garage that looked super comfy) We were free to help ourself to everything out of the fridge, and there is a big kitchen with everything you could need. Now, he could charge double just for the views, but he doesn't because he is just the most lovely person. He took us out on his boat, let us ride the jetskis and was beyond helpful with everything we needed. We very much enjoyed having his company as we all had dinner together (that Dave made for us) and sat by the fire and we could not have wished for a better time. All in all: Dave's camp is beautiful, but what truly made our stay special was Dave himself. He was so kind to us, and he had the most amazing stories to tell. I dont think we have ever had such a fantastic experience with any place we stayed, and we will keep this time in our memories for quite a while.

    Jan2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! We had an amazing time @ Dave’s place...he is very accommodating. The cottage is adorable and the lake is gorgeous. He took us out on his boat and jet skis. He is a great guy - we had a lot of fun getting to know him. He is very knowledgeable about the area. He cooked us delicious breakfasts, too. This was a trip we will not forget!

    Cornelius2019-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you have a chance to stay here, don’t pass it up. This was the best Airbnb experience we have ever had. Dave is an amazing host who is so welcoming. He offered to take us out on his boat and even built us a fire at night. We are planning on returning next year. The house is SO adorable in the perfect location. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway, this is your spot!

    Lexi2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Dave and the place was amazing! We came in late after hiking katahdin and Dave was there to great us when we pulled in with lights all over the place and food! Highly recommend thanks!

    Charlie2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's hospitality was outstanding. He and his family made sure we felt at home during our stay and we loved spending our free time talking to them. The cabin is very cozy and offers a stunning view over the lake as well as a well-equipped kitchen to prepare your own meals.

    Elisabeth2019-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Dave’s cabin for the Millinocket Marathon in December. From the moment of reservation, Dave was communicative, thorough, and hands on. He seemed to invest himself fully in our experience, anticipating our needs in advance and giving generously and energetically of his time, care, and resources to not only meet our needs but to surpass our expectations. We came to know him through this process so this was definitely not the kind of AirBnb stay in which we stayed anonymous to our host—all the better as making connections to a region is what the Millinocket race is all about. We learned a lot about Dave, the cabin, and the region and enjoyed ourselves greatly. The cabin is cozy and cute with a kitchen as stunning as the view.

Bruce the host was incredibly hospitable and friendly during our entire stay and even offered advice on things to do in Millinocket when we had free time. The home was incredible where everyone was comfortable and warm especially from the harsh and cold winter weather. Amazing host and home!

  • You will not be disappointed. This cottage is a piece of paradise .The advertisement for the cottage is 100% is accurate. Very spacious, clean, view is amazing. The location is excellent. Very private yet close to town for any needed items/groceries. We will definitely return again.

  • Very clean and spacious space. Everything was as we expected. Super frontage on the lake. Plenty of room to move both indoors and outdoors. Again, every detail to make a stay away from home was thought of. Very close to Baxter and north woods hiking trials. Great time and place!

    Nate2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was a perfect home base for our weekend adventuring around the Baxter SP area during peak fall foliage season. We loved the inside of the cottage and how much room there was for every person to have their own space. The view of the lake were incredible and sitting outside by the fire pit at night couldn't have been any more relaxing. Would definitely stay again if ever heading back up to the area! The communication with the hosts was great as well. Recommend eating at River Drivers Restaurant for any and all meals out if you stay here as well. The food was great and loved the overall vibe!

  • Photos on here, enticing as they are, don't fully capture how idyllic this place is. Wonderful for paddling, grilling, firepitting, sitting very still, and making excursions into Baxter. Plus, Jon and Stephanie were super responsive to our last-minute request for an extra night's stay. Even after that, we we could have lingered much longer.

    Will2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stephanie & Jon’s cottage was absolutely perfect for our weekend! We hiked in Baxter State Park on North & South Brothers Mountain. The home is a 30 min drive to the park. We enjoyed the paddle boat, fire pit, and ample space to host our crew of 6. They are very welcoming to pets and our chocolate lab spent the day “fishing” in the lake via the walk in beach. The cottage was super clean and had every piece of cookware/cutlery we needed for our stay. This home in the woods is perfect for anyone looking to get away and escape to the woods! Highly recommend.

  • The best place to stay if you’re visiting Millinocket and the surrounding area. We were super close to town and Baxter State Park. Property was clean, right on the lake and very quiet. We will definitely stay here again.

  • Perfect take of spot for Baxter on Katahdin Woods and Waters.

    Josie2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot though location is a bit remote. Perfect for Baxter State Park visitors and families. Comfortable beds, clean and more than enough kitchen essentials to be able to cook which is good as there is Limited restaurant availability in the area.

  • Excellent communication, always prompt response to questions. Perfect location, and they have great advice on good places to eat!

    Joy2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house was perfect for us. We were walking distance to restaurants while in a quiet little neighborhood with friendly folks. The house is spacious and we had plenty of room to lounge around when we weren't off to Katahdin. Communication was great and everything was there just as we expected.

    Addison2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Large character filled home close to white water rafting and hiking in Baxter State Park. It is older but you will be very comfortable. The beds were cozy and all had a good nights sleep, the kitchen was well equipped and the bathrooms were enough for our group. We did have a couple of minor issues when we first arrived but it was quickly sorted out. The host was excellent in providing insight into the local community for markets, restaurants etc and they were quite to respond to any concerns we had. Top notch service, great location and cozy home. Highly recommend this home to anyone!

    Ronnie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly good value for money, lots of space in the house.

    Ross2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a perfect base for our 6 d of hiking on the AT. Five women had plenty of room for sleeping, cooking, and hanging out. House was clean, lots of towels, washer & dryer was much needed, lots of hot water with good water pressure. We really appreciated the extras in the kitchen - condiments, spices, plastic wrap and baggies. Check in and out was easy. You should know that there is a set of narrow steps up to the master bedroom, about 4 steps up to the other single bedrooms, and steps into the house. No problem for us (other than being sore after hiking :-), but not sure it was in the listing. Recommend this house as a great home base in beautiful Maine.

  • We were upgraded to the Fox Den cabin and just loved it. Warm stove and shower, comfortable bed, and nice balcony on the back. Very clean and stylish space.

  • So we ended up getting upgraded to an actual cabin, so I cannot comment on the one on this listing. But Matt and team were very fast communicators and directions were very clear. The outdoor center (a little down the road from this listing) was beautiful and had a very nice restaurant attached. The location was also fantastic for hiking Katahdin (and this listing is actually 6 miles closer to the park than where we ended up staying). The drive to the gate in the morning was easy enough (and we saw a moose!).

  • The cabins are located close to a beautiful lake. Guests can borrow canoes or kayaks for free and enjoy a stunning view on Mount Katahdin. The site with hot showers is also a great place to spend a night after hiking in the state park. Our cabin had 4 beds with blankets and pillows, a fire pit and enough space to park the car. The staff was helpful and all check in/out procedures were without a problem.

  • Jeff's place is just what we needed for our stay. The place is in a good location and near a good breakfast place. The place was meticulously clean and had more than enough bed linens and towels as well as kitchen basics. We were very comfortable during our stay.

2 bedroom rustic cabin, with modern updates, sleeps 6, on Ambajejus Lake, with gorgeous views of Mt. Katahdin off your front deck. If you love the outdoors, you will be in your own little piece of heaven here. Fishing, boating, hiking, biking, hunting, and tons of wildlife. Feel like you are in your own little cabin, as this cabin is our personal home away from home. We share all our outdoor fun toys with you, for no extra fee: 2 canoes, 1 tandem kayak, a paddleboard, and life jackets.
The property has two waterfronts. The front of the cabin is facing Mount Katahdin. There are blueberry bushes, and a small beach area. There is also a built-in fire pit that looks over the lake and mountains, surrounded by hammocks, and camp chairs. The back of our property is on a cove, where we have a path that leads to a staircase down to our dock. This cove has calm water, the perfect place to tie up your motorized boat, to fish off of, or jumping in for a swim.
Our cabin is on a small Peninsula with seven other cabins. These are all second homes to people either from the town of Millinocket, or Southern Maine. If you know people from DownEast Maine, then you know how friendly and helpful they are. We found it nice to have neighbors, as they will always look out for you, and help in a pinch. Summer tends to see the other cabins inhabited off and on throughout the summer. The remainder of the year, you may find yourself the only inhabitants on the peninsula!
  • Beautiful setting and views.

  • Cabin was clean and organized... easy to find pans, towels, games, whatever you’re looking for. The canoes, kayaks and paddle boards afforded hours of entertainment for us and our 7-year-old, and they were in spotless condition. Relaxing spot and would 100 percent come back.

  • The Casey cabin is clean and comfortable with an incredible view. The owners provide a host of options for entertainment and relaxation, plus information on local hikes and what Baxter State Park has to offer. It’s obvious that many great memories were made there, including our own.

  • We used this cabin as a base of operation from Monson, Maine, to Mount Katahdin supporting Appalachian Trail Thru Hikers. Our stay was beyond words with views that words do not adequately describe. The cabin was extremely comfortable, clean and very well equipped. Our family fished, canoed, and paddle boarded and enjoyed the fire pit. The star gazing will take your breathe away. The sunsets and sunrises were stunning. The location was very private and convenient to Millinocket. We enjoyed putting cell phones and computers away and taking in the nature around us! We enjoyed eagle sightings, ducks, fox and moose sightings. Baxter State Park is minutes away. We do plan to go back! This is truly a real piece of paradise.

Rent your own private island with stunning views of Katahdin on the fifth largest lake in Maine. Total privacy with no other buildings within a half mile of the 1/2 acre island. The island has a rustic 475 sq ft 1 1/2 story camp. It is totally off the grid, but has excellent cell phone/wireless connectivity. The lake is large and clean and mostly undeveloped. Miles and miles of shoreline with remote beaches and islands to explore.
The cabin has a kitchen/ living area. The kitchen is equipped with basic cooking and eating utensils. There is a futon, a table and four chairs, an apartment size propane range, a sink with a hand pump for water from the lake. There is also a bedroom with a queen size bed on the main floor and a sleeping loft upstairs with two twin beds. There are four rechargeable LED lanterns to provide lighting inside. The lanterns and cell phones and other devices using USB charging ports can be recharged by a small solar system. The cabin has a deck outside the entrance. There is also a propane grill, a picnic table and a firepit. The outhouse is new and clean. The island has a 16 foot dock and a mooring for your boat.
  • The location is everything. You don’t miss heat or power when you have that view, not to mention the cabin is lovely. We had a blast both out on the boat and on the island. Excellent fishing, and a kitchen stocked with every utensil you need to make a fine meal out of your catch! Would absolutely stay here again.

    Susanna2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The island and cabin are outstanding! Very well-maintained, and great hospitality from the host, Bob. The island is a lovely get-away that comes with a kayak and a canoe. It's away from everything, and the cabin is very nicely built with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. I went to the cabin with my dog and three friends, and the stay was great. The rechargeable lanterns provided were helpful and provided plenty of light for cooking or hanging out in the evening. Be aware that the lake can get a little choppy (1-2 foot chop) when there's a breeze. Because of the chop, I had to go slow with my flat-bottomed boat, but it was definitely manageable. I'd love to go back again!

    Brandon2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Bob's place was everything we had hoped for, quiet, peaceful, beautiful views, good fishing, and all around great place to stay and reconnect with your family. The cottage was incredibly clean and well kept, Bob was very pleasant to deal. He met us at the boat ramp and escorted us to the cabin. I look forward to going back.

    Adam2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • If you need a place to unwind and recharge, this is it! Get away from the hustles of everyday life and gain some peace at Bob's island. My husband and I brought our puppy and it was perfect. She could roam around safely and we soaked up the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The lake is not very populated so there was hardly any boat traffic, which made it even nicer for us. The cabin had everything we needed to get along fine for 5 days. We brought plenty of ice and food and drinking water, so make sure you don't forget to bring those. The boat launch is a few miles away and was a long yet beautiful trek. The 2000 piece Star Wars puzzle kept us busy during a stormy day. All in all, it was just what we needed. Swimming, beaches to explore, hardly any bugs, fishing, camp fires, and more. We highly recommend this spot.

    Melanie2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • “Epic” is the word that I found myself pulling out when answering to family and friends inquiry “How did your family vacation in Maine go?” For our family of 4 it was surely a trip to remember with fond memories. Our 14 and 12 year old daughters enjoyed the adventure of having our own island. We spent 4 full days and 5 nights. Our first day we headed up north along the western shore exploring coves and beaches bringing back some driftwood to add to Bob’s already available firewood pile he had in store for our use. Second day we headed southeast from the Island across Twin Lake to an uninhabited island coming across old logging camp fires and cookware to boot. After bush whacking across the island we paddled back in northerly direction towards Perrow Point. It provided the perfect lunch spot providing a relaxing break in the sun to enjoy our lunch and an afternoon siesta. Bordered by cat tails behind us and Maine’s northern forest and in front of us the lullaby of North Twin Lake lapping upon the shore this was the definition of “Out Of Office”. After a nice family siesta we headed back across Twin Lake to the island where a nice meal of New York strips, salad and baked potatoes on Bob’s grill awaited us followed by a campfire and a star filled sky. Our third day was socked in and rainy giving us opportunity to play inside games including Bob’s simple but effective 7 games in 1 taking advantage of Chinese checkers, backgammon , followed by cards. Cabin fever set in later in the afternoon so of course a cannonball contest ensued off the dock with Dad bringing home the title for the most displaced water! Later on we ventured across the sandbar to the nearest shore and found a short trail through the North Maine woods to a lumber road. Good stuff for exploring. Last day we had high winds and white caps for most of the day which was fine for us playing our own make shift Frisbee golf course on our little private island. Winds finally died down allowing us a last sunset paddle before returning Bob’s boats to their resting place for the next fellow traveler. We found Bob’s description of the island and the house and its features to be spot on! If only we had read his description more closely we have cut our questions to him by 3/4 – sorry Bob but thanks for being so responsive! Helpful hints for those traveling in our wake, we brought our own cooler to transport the 4 blocks ice, two in ours, two in Bob’s large cooler he already has for you in the house. Solar system providing power for all 4 of our devices as well as his lights for the house worked perfectly. Kitchen had bowls, plates and silverware along with pots and pans. Propane stove worked great. Water pump bringing in lake water to the...

    Steven2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Bob is an excellent host, who balances the essential line between kind, communicative, and welcoming without overbearing. He even generously ferried some of our belongings to the island upon our arrival to the dock with our canoe! The island itself is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and serene. The shores offer good swimming spots, and there are hiking trails within boating distance. The cabin also offers a canoe and kayak for further excursions, a firepit, propane grill and stove, and other additional amenities like board games and maps of the surrounding areas. We loved our few days on the island, and we hope to be back some day!

    Matthew2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a rustic, isolated getaway with spectacular views of Mount Katahdin, great swimming, and canoeing, then this is the place for you! Because there is no potable water, we recommend bringing a portable hand-pump water purifier instead of large water jugs or lots of bottles. We also renewing your fishing license and bringing your gear. There are a couple nice spots you can canoe over to along the shoreline.

    Keegan2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very secluded island camp with great views. Fishing, swimming, boat rides, who could ask for more. Camp was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Thanks Bob!

  • We had a very comfortable stay at Katahdin Crossing. Ridge and Kelly were very prompt in their responses to any questions we had, and accommodating of our two dogs. The first floor of the house was perfectly clean. The house is located on a corner lot on a quiet and pleasant street, minutes from Millinocket. All pertinent information (local maps, plus a binder with all the resources we needed) was readily available. We also greatly appreciated that there were fans in the bedrooms, as we are a white noise-dependent family! We are very happy with our stay.

Check in and out was a breeze and we were thrilled to be able to have our dog with us. She was comfortable there immediately, and can attest to the quality of their space! • Perfect little getaway. Camp was very clean and spacious. Access to many different amenities such as grill, kayak, fire pit, etc. Very accommodating to guests! Worth noting there was no cell service - but this is part of what makes it a nice getaway

  • My best friend and I spent the weekend at Andy's place for my Birthday. We had a great time. The view was amazing! Andy was very hospitable! We hope to make it back next year with our families this time. Such a nice place!

  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay here. It's a very quiet location with a great yard, fire pit, and just steps to the lake. The house was clean (with a very comfy bed!) and the kitchen had lots of pots, pans, etc. which was great since we cooked in each night. Andy was very hospitable and quick to respond to messages. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Absolutely wonderful way to spend the last days before our wedding! Could not have been more relaxing, had a great kayak and sunbathing session on the deck! Convenient spot for traveling to Katahdin and NEOC and very private spot with plenty of land. Especially gracious host allowing us to play with water toys and help ourselves to groceries. Thanks!

  • This property is awesome! The best vacations are to Maine, and this vacation was the best vacation we've ever taken.... The cabin has so much charm, and the views from the window cannot be beat! Having our own firepit, which overlooked the lake, made for awesome winding down for the day... And we absolutely loved having direct access to the lake and being able to use the owner's kayaks and canoe to explore the lake and it's many islands. Did I mention the views!? Beautiful views from any direction across the lake. Be sure to explore nearby Baxter State Park for some hiking, and a short road trip north to Patten!

  • We stayed with Gail for a weekend of hiking/exploring in Baxter. Great location, two minute walk from Millinocket town center/restaurants/cafe. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and comfortable, nice to return to after a long day on Katahdin :) + there were snacks in the kitchen to grab for hikes. Gail was also very helpful about the area and very responsive.

  • 100 Mile wilderness was incredibly clean, comfortable, convenient. Gail was very helpful with her knowledge of Millinocket and Baxter State Park. The ride to Baxter was only about 15-20 minutes to the park and it was very easy to find from the AirBnB. Would highly recommend this location for anyone that wants to visit Baxter/hike Katahdin but wood rather not camp. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This is a very cute cabin right on the lake with an amazing view of Mt. Katahdin. Great deck and dock to enjoy the sunsets. Michael & Vicky were very welcoming and provided me with some great tips for the area! All the modern amenities (TV & WiFi) in a nice quiet cabin! I highly recommend staying at the Dragonfly Cabin!

  • This is a great lake house with a fantastic location. It is within walking distance to NEOC, a short drive to Baxter Park, And reasonably close to town. The views from the backyard on the lake are beautiful. Highly recommend this place

    Stephen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Vicky and Michael's place is amazing! There is so much space and everything you could possibly need. Being on the lake was so much fun and you feel incredible isolated from everything else even with people nearby. I will absolutely stay here again in the future.

    Kelly2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Vicky & Michael’s place. The location is perfect and we enjoyed easy access to hiking at Baxter State Park and the convenience of a few dining options and a camp store within walking distance. My family had so much fun that we even skipped a day of hiking just to relax and use the canoe and kayaks to paddle around the lake and sat by the fire pit under the stars at night! Beautiful home in a beautiful setting! Definitely recommend.

    Theodore2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing getaway on a pristine lake with a stellar view of Mount Katahdin! The house was beautiful and comfortably accomodated 10 guests. The hosts were very helpful and quick to reply to any questions we had months ahead of the trip and during. The location couldn't have been better with regard to rafting, hiking and biking. Highly recommended!

    Justin2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing location, wonderful accommodations and fantastic hosts. Can’t wait to go back.

    Brent2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 (kids 4 and 7.5) had a lovely 9-day stay at the Dragonfly. We kayaked, fished, and swam some days, drove up into Baxter State Park to hike on others. Older kid got to be a pretty good paddler! There is a great view of Mt. Katahdin from the dock, and the stars are brilliant on a clear night. The kids loved the ducks that came to visit each day, swaying in the hammock, and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. We didn't use the TV, but there is a remarkable DVD collection if you happen to be there on a rainy day. Also a handful of games and a couple of puzzles, for lazy mornings/evenings. The kitchen has everything you might need and then some (we caught the beginning of blueberry season and baked a pie), and the restaurant at the New England Outdoor Center (either a short walk up the road, or a quick paddle across the cove) has great food. Millinocket town is about a 20-minute drive for groceries, and we enjoyed the Appalachian Trail Cafe in town for lunch and overhearing through-hiker tales. We'd recommend double checking with Vicky and Michael about the check-out routine (where to leave sheets and towels, whether you're expected to vacuum before you go), as we seem to have had some miscommunication there, but otherwise it was an excellent experience!

  • On a scale of 1 to 10, Steve and Debbie are a 20 on the satisfaction scale. Our trip was complicated by a number of "non-accommodations" issues. Ours hosts went WAY out their way to assist with the burdens! As far as the cottage is concerned, it was perfect for us and, frankly, better than I expected. The cottage/cabin and location are suited for activities for ALL of New England's seasons. It is a HUGE plus to have your hosts close by! Five ++ Star Rating for the facility, location, and hosts. Thank you so much!

    Christine2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Debbie’s cabin was perfect for our family. We had 3 families and 2 small dogs and we had plenty of space. All beds were very comfy and had ample pillows and blankets. The kids had a blast out on the pond and hanging out in the loft. The table was large enough to accommodate our puzzle and the living room had plenty of seating for us all to watch a movie at the end of the day. We were also able to meet Steve and Debbie and they are just the nicest people! We will be back! ❤️

My place is walking distance to downtown resturants. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the spacious kitchen, and the safety of the community. Through the back yard is the walkway to the Millinocket Stream. Great kayaking to the River It is at the foot of Mt Kathadin which is a special part of Maine.
Cute house, plain, stream out back. Nice neighbors
Quiet family oriented neighborhood and very safe.

Kitty's Lake House is a 3 season lakefront home with spectacular views of the sun setting over the mountains and the last hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail traversing Mt Katahdin. One of the most unique properties in the area.
Kitty's Lake House is a 3 season lakefront home with spectacular views of the sun setting over the last 100 miles of the Appalachian Trail traversing Mt Katahdin. One of the most unique properties in the area, this home sleeps up to 10 with all the beauty Maine has to offer right outside the front door. Hike the tallest peak in Maine (Mt Katahdin), the Grand Canyon of Maine (Gulf Hagas), whitewater raft class 5 rapids down the West Branch of the Penobscot River or just relax on the beach out front on pristine South Twin Lake.
  • What a special and magical place! This place epitomizes what AirBnB is about... Kittys lakehouse is unique and beyond words. Our group had a fantastic time enjoying the lake and the views. Sunsets were unbelievable! Yesere is a (very infrequent) train behind the house but it just adds to the experience.

    Emily2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • What an awesome stay! The home is beautifully designed and the record collection is outstanding. By the lake we enjoyed incredible sunsets and listening to the loons.

    Alyssa2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's place is unique, beautiful and has an incredible location for what our group was looking to do in Millinocket. Poor weather throughout our trip prevented us from doing the hike we had hoped, but it allowed us to settle into the house which is what actually made the trip as memorable as it was. Embrace the creativity, buy into the quirkiness and you will never regret staying here! Kim was a fantastic host and accommodated us every step of the way.

  • Incredible spot!

    Tripp2018-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Expect amazing sunsets, expect a vast view of the lake when you walk into the doorway of Kim's hand crafted wood cabin, expect artistic touches throughout and stories for each part of this one of a kind home, expect quick, helpful and thoughtful responses. We were 7 in our group and completely enjoyed every moment of our trip. Kim and Renee were so helpful, with a call before our trip "just to check in" with detailed instructions on the area and on having a delightful stay. Beds were comfy, and the water - my wife brought home a bottle of the water and is still enjoying it from the fridge! Kitchen was well stocked for entertaining such a large group, lots of space to navigate and cook. Their lake side location one of the best with a little beach and firepit. We kayaked, we visited Baxter and Gulf Hagis. One of my guests said it was the best trip she had ever taken, which made me the coordinator look like a star :-) . Well, the credit all goes to Kim and Renee our SUPER hosts!

    Scott2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This house looks nothing like any house we have ever been to. This was just like living in a museum. The view from the porch and the amount of interesting art pieces in the house, almost caused us not going out to see the National Park 😊 Kim was really kind and offered us his kayaks, was avaliable to answer all of our questions, an amazing experience!

    Iris2017-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's place is fantastic. We were a group of pretty hardcore hikers, 3 men and 4 women, who were there to hike Katahdin and the Knife's edge. Professionally our group consisted of a home builder, an attorney, a psychiatrist, the owner of a software company, etc.. All of our group absolutely loved Kim's house. The fact that he's an artist and built his house is seen everywhere you look. His home is another one of his works of art, and it's awesome. His attention to detail is amazing with the house itself, and the way he's decorated it. We will absolutely stay at Kim's place again, when we come back to hike Katahdin, next time. Our only regret with the trip, is that we spent so little time in his home with it's incredible view of the lake and it's wonderful sunsets.

    John2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very unique house and we are a unique family so it was a perfect fit. The location was fantastic, close to Baxter state park, quite, and peaceful. The views were amazing! The natural setting was beautifully woven into the construction and design of the home. Theread was wood and stone throughout the house and plenty of natural light. We enjoyed stargazing at night from the second floor deck while listening to the loons. The furniture was rundown but that just added to the rustic Maine vibe. We were very comfortable here, even my 77 year old mother who appreciated the walk-in shower and first floor bedroom. It was fun to explore and discover something new and special each day inside and outside of the house. We hate to tell too many people about this special house because we look forward to being able to return again to enjoy it ourselves.

“The Magic City” Millinocket, has such a rich history, from the Great Northern Paper Company which established the town in 1901, to the book “The Maine Woods” by Henry David Thoreau. Our home sits on the door step to one of most beautiful areas of the country. People come from all over the world to hike Mount Katahdin, whitewater raft, kayak, fish, and in the winter, snowmobile miles of groomed trails. Our beautiful home is a perfect place to start your Adventure!
We totally renovated our home in 2018 with hope we could create something special for our guests. So far so good . People seem to really love it. Comfortable, warm, and beautifully decorated by my wife Karen. We hope you will come and visit. It is the perfect spot to stay if you are climbing Mount Katahdin, Whitewater Rafting, or Snowmobiling in the winter months. We are a 15 minute drive to Baxter State Park and a 2 minute sled ride to the Katahdin General Store where you can fill up with Non/Ethanol gas, buy gear, register your sled, and jump on the trail.
This newly renovated home offers you a warm and cozy spot after a long day of hiking or snowmobiling. We are right by the trail with plenty of parking for your trailers.
  • Awesome stay!

  • This is a great place - very comfortable, well appointed, and spotless. Hosts were very solicitous, carefully explaining the check-in procedure, checking with us several times to see if we needed anything, answering questions promptly, and offering great advice on where to eat, etc. Highly recommended. We'll go back, for sure.

    David2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect house for Pre & Post Millinocket Marathon and Half. The house is a mile from the start line and close enough to the course, that we could set out some spikes for one of our runners to grab for her second loop around. The beds were comfortable for sleeping five of us. The house was warm, clean and clutter free to allow our gear and food to be spread out. We loved the simple decor that reminded us of where we were in the world. Karen & Scott provide easy check-in and check-out. I would definitely come back to "The Boom House" and am curious to see their other property, "The Roost", down the street.

    Mark2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I stayed here for a hiking trip and it was the perfect place to come back to and wind down after a long day outdoors! It was immaculate, cozy, easy to find, and in a lovely neighborhood. The hosts were extremely nice and responsive; they made sure that check-in was easy and were very clear about what they expected of us. 100% would stay here again in the future and would absolutely recommend this home!

    Lisa2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice and big house in Millinocket with full equipment and chic style. Ideal base for activities at Mount Katahdin.

    Dieter2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Boom House far exceeded our expectations. The recent renovations were thoughtful and left us feeling like we were staying in a boutique resort. Scott and Karen were very helpful and the area is beautiful. If you are in need of a home base while you explore Baxter State Park, you can do no better!

    Charles2019-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Scott and Karen’s home was an absolutely perfect place for three of us to stay while exploring Baxter State Park. Their place was sparkling clean when we arrived, and the lock box was easy to use on entry. Scott called right after we arrived to give us some helpful pointers and ensure that everything was in order, and was incredibly responsive to all of our questions - it was clear that he and Karen really care about making sure guests feel at home and are well taken care of. We appreciated having a fully functional and well appointed kitchen to cook some of our own meals. The AC unit upstairs cooled things down nicely even on hot days/nights. The bathroom came with plenty of extra towels. Everything in the home was brand new, and nicely decorated. The location of their home is perfect for anyone planning a climb of Mt Katahdin or other hikes in Baxter. Highly recommend staying here!

    Richard2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We highly recommend Scott and Karen's place. It was very clean, comfortable, and has been nicely renovated. We had a great time sitting on the front porch in the evening. The house is equipped with everything we needed. It was a short drive to Baxter State Park where we hiked Katahdin. It's in a good location and we will stay there again when we visit the area.

  • I travel a lot for work and this is the best Airbnb experience I’ve had. The place was clean, stylish but cozy, in a great location and had everything I needed. Communication with owners was clear, detailed and prompt. Just a great experience—would love to return in the future.

  • Great place to stay in the small town of Millinocket. It's not too far from Baxter State Park's south entrance and is right in the middle of the small town. The apartment was recently renovated and in great shape. Great hosts!

    Pam2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Kim's place is cozy, homey, clean, well equipped and very well located. The space is perfect for relaxing and hanging out and provides easy access to Baxter State Park and other outdoor recreation areas as well as local spots to both dine out and shop. Kim provided excellent and extensive information regarding the Millinocket area which proved very helpful- we never would have visited the Woods and Water Shop which was a true find! A great stay with a great host!

  • This is a great location to stay if you are flying out early morning on Katahdin Air Services, it's a 15 minute drive. We drove from Boston to Millinocket the day before the flight. The hosts were super flexible to our late evening delayed arrival times. The space was large, 3 bedrooms and decorated with antiques. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need in the morning.

  • A small group of us travelled to Millinocket for a rafting trip and Dawn & Ryan’s place was more than we expected. The house is super clean and everything that you need is there. The check in process was very easy, even for us late arrivals, and Dawn got back to me within minutes of messaging her. Couldn’t ask for much more than that. We will absolutely be booking here again for our next trip.

  • Kevin and Michelle were amazing, as was their property! This cabin is on the water and has the most amazing views. Hosts are close by in case you need anything but the location of the cabin makes you feel like you’re the only one on the lake. Hosts offer use of their kayaks, fire pit and more. It’s our favorite Maine destination to date!

    Cody2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin in a great location. We loved it and Kevin and Michelle were perfect hosts. The cabin is well appointed and Michelle’s fresh cookies were a big hit. This is definitely a 5 star + stay.

  • Windy Point Cottage was such an incredible find! The house was huge and very clean. The front porch is just steps from Ambajejus Lake (with access to kayaks!) and has a gorgeous view of Kathadin. If you are hiking in Baxter State Park, as we were, it is only about a 10 minute drive to the park entrance. Communication was great and the house was easy to find from directions. Highly recommend this lovely home.

    Briana2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage was so nice that we didn't want to leave. It had a spacious living area with all the amenities you need to cook there. We used the gas grill and nice outdoor firepit. It was very clean which is a priority for me. The deck facing the water was so serene and relaxing. It was a great place to drink your morning coffee, watch the beautiful sunsets and listen to loons and birds. At night we would look up at the sky and star gaze and saw a few shooting stars. The beach was nice for swimming and hanging out in the beach chairs. We enjoyed that we could kayak everyday. It's proximity to Baxter State Park was great for us because we spent some time there every day exploring and hiking. Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go back and hope we can soon.

  • Our stay at Michelle's house was fantastic. There were five of us that stayed at the Lodge during our snowmobiling trip. We couldn't ask for a better location, close to the trails, gas, and food. Already planning our next stay.

    Scott2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Plenty of room for a 4 place 20’ snowmobile trailer and truck. Host is great and goes above and beyond. I will be staying here for any of my trips from now on!

    Manny2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle's house was perfect for our hiking trip up Katahdin. Be sure to go to the Blue Ox Saloon and get a drink, it's steeped in local charm!

    Lindsay2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • We all loved the location, the clean home, lots of towels, cozy beds & the local pictures etc. I’m coming back next year ... will re-book if this home is available. * Easy access to the park

    Jennifer2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were in Millinocket to meet our som as he completed the Appalachian Trail from Georgia! The lake road house was the ideal location & space! The house is really clean and very comfortable! It was the perfect place to hang out after our son’s 5 month hike! Michelle is very pleasant and easy to work with! We enjoyed our time at The Lake Road House!

    DeVona2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great location for access to Baxter. House is very clean!

    Kathleen2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Very comfortable and clean

    Timothy2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A very clean and spacious house for 6. A living room with a sofa as in American movies. A BBQ and an outdoor corner two ideal for the return of walks to the lake or the park. For the kitchen there is the necessary. Only downside is the noise because Millinocket is very well served and is much more important than I thought. Michelle's home is an alternative for those who do not want to be in the woods.

  • There is no way to accurately explain how tremendous this space is. Roomy yet comfortably homey, clean and rustic, with magnificent views that are hard to beat. Mike is generous and thoughtful, and we enjoyed every second of our stay. If we come back for a weekend, we will be staying here!

    Andy2019-12-08T00:00:00Z

  • Can't say enough good things about this place and the host. Perfect location on the water, well provisioned and very comfortable. We were a part of 5 and had plenty of room. Awesome host who was very accommodating. Can not recommend high enough. We will be back!

    Justin2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic lakefront cabin with all the amenities. Canoes and kayaks made for great smallmouth bass fishing on South Twin lake. Only an hour drive to Katahdin. Beats the heck out of staying at a campground. Mike is a helpful and friendly guy. Would recommend to anyone.

    Michael2019-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • By far the best vacation spot we’ve ever found. Everyone from my two year old daughter to my 70 year only father in law thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Even our dogs came home tired! We couldn’t have asked for a better host. Mike was fantastic! My kids are already asking when we can go back!

    Amanda N Brenton2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Mike’s place on the lake. The setting is very serene and peaceful. It is rustic and worth the drive to get there. You truly feel that you are away from it all. We fell asleep to the sounds of loons at night. We made great use of Mike’s canoe and paddle boat which were ideal for a quiet lake like South Twin. My husband loved the fishing. There was enough space for myself, parents, sister and black lab. Mike was very responsive to anything needed. We are looking forward to returning.

    Maryanne2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Just as described and exactly what you’re looking for in a lake side camp near Baxter. The large deck was awesome and with ample chairs as well as an outdoor propane heater it was a great place to relax on a chilly night. The place had everything you need to enjoy the area

Welcome to Cole's Moosehorn Cabins & "The Way It Was"! Unplug & reconnect at this historic lakefront log cabin. Located on Northwest Pond, part of Seboies Lake, in T4R9, Maine just south of Millinocket. The cabin is rustic yet clean & comfortable. Take a paddle on our complementary canoes/kayaks & bask in views of the Chairback mountain range & Katahdin. Look for moose, enjoy the loons, stargaze & swim on this nearly private pond. cabin comes with everything you need and nothing you don't.
rustic log cabin rental on the shores of Northwest Pond/ Seboies Lake in T4R9 Maine (it's an unorganized township in the Katahdin Region of Maine). We are a set of historic sporting camps on the shore of a 2000+ acre pond where you can take a paddle around in one of our complementary canoes, swim, fish and more. Also handy to hiking in the famed "100 mile Wilderness" which is part of the Appalachian Trail. Book a whitewater rafting trip on the West Branch of the Penobscot River or hike the highest mountain in Maine- Katahdin. We have a total of three cabin rentals situated around a main lodge. Each cabin room has a twin and a full size bed in our two bedroom cabins. Bed linens are supplied as well as kitchen towels and cloths. (bring you own beach towel). Kitchen ware is supplied and they have gas ranges and gas refrigerators. There is a wood stove for heat (wood supplied). We provide potable water for drinking and dishes and there are outhouse facilities (no showers- take a jump in the lake!). There is no electricity (gas lights and lanterns) so be ready to get UN-plugged, interact with your company, listen to the loons and watch the night sky! Know before you go: you are going into the wilderness. Cell phone reception is marginal at best. The road into camp is a dirt logging road it is passable in a two wheel drive vehicle but small cars with low clearance will need to take there time navigating rocks. It takes about 35 minutes to reach the nearest town so it's a good idea to stock up before you head in (i.e groceries).
Cole's Moosehorn Cabins is a historic sporting camp dating back to the late 1800's. Sports or guest, would arrive via the railroad and canoe to camp. We are located on Maine Public Reserve Lands and are the only cabins on Northwest Pond part of Seboies Lake. So, lucky for us and you we offer a nearly private pond experience and one that will never be developed beyond these camps.
  • The cabin was very clean! Location was gorgeous. Lots of privacy

    Benjamin2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a little slice of heaven. Wish we would have booked for longer. Katie and Gene are awesome people and Andy was the best. Definitely going back for longer next time!

    Kate2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a truly isolated place to stay, deep in the Maine woods next to a beautiful lake. It is a place to collect your thoughts and take a break from today's busy world.

    Lucy2018-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome stay at Trapper Bill’s cabin. The lake was lovely and we were happy to be able to jump into a canoe when we arrived. Close enough to go hike Katahdin yet far enough from everything to feel secluded. The wood burning stove was great to have and the property is peaceful and quiet. We loved it!!!

    Meggie2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • It’s hard to know what to expect even after reading reviews and checking out the photos… But this place was amazing. The remote location was perfect and the simple cabins were wonderful and clean. My husband and I really enjoyed using the kayaks to go out on the pond to fish and watch the loons.

    Brooke2018-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Our long weekend at Kate and gene's cabin was amazing. The experience we had was beyond words. It is a beautiful place, heaven on earth. If you are on the fence about it, just book it. It is soooo worth it. You won't regret it 😃😃😃

    Letti2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • There aren’t enough words to describe the secluded calm tranquility that we experienced here. Quite a long drive coming in a the dirt road but more than worth it. The cabin has all the small things that you would need. Lots of horse flys, be prepared to swat all night. And pack everything you may need because it takes awhile to get to town. Gene and Katie are welcoming and very kind. We will be back!!

    Sarah2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying at Katie and Gene’s cabin, and it was a great stay again. The location is beautiful and secluded, and Katie and Gene are wonderful hosts. The cabin is quaint, clean, and has everything you need!
