  • Ross's place was absolutely beautiful and he was so welcoming. It was perfectly clean and so comfy. It's situated right by the river, which was stunning. It was great wandering the garden, with the fruit trees, birds and honey bees. We really appreciated the home grown pears too! We loved staying here and would absolutely recommend it!

    Julia2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great location on a beautiful part of the Motueka River. Ross has a great rustic cabin on offer, full of character and with comfy beds and a hot shower. We loved eating the apples, pears and grapes straight from the garden. We had a private and enjoyable stay.

  • Fantastic couple of days stay. The place and surroundings were absolutely stunning. Couldn’t have been more surprised when my other half proposed ! Will never ever forget it 🥰

  • Amazing space surroundings and views

    Ed2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place is epic and beautiful. Ross let me check in early as I was stranded and no one has stated the previous night. It's such a beautiful location and you can see all the love that has been put into the land and the house, especially in all the woodwork and carvings. You can tell this place is filled with good vibes.

    TBird2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Magical spot! The house is old and quirky. Only one bathroom so do not come here if you like modern luxury, but if you just want a clean and comfortable bed in wonderful surroundings then you will love it. Ross was very friendly and helpful. He is a talented person, there are many of his wood carvings scattered around. The weather was kind to us. The River is lovely for a dip. We only stayed for one night but would have loved it to be longer.

    Kay2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous spot on the Motueka river. It's comfortable and quirky, and the lawns are lovely. The site of a former music festival. The host was friendly and accommodating as we brought a dog and two children. It's a pity that the river has the "rock snot" weed but we still swam in it, alongside the locals.

    Catharine2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to sit back and unwind. To see the river from the kitchen window is magic along with the expansive lawn down to it. Ross and his dog Freya are really friendly and helpful.

  • This little slice of paradise was such a quirky and comfortable place. The immediate area is lovely and peaceful, with stunning views. After exploring the area you can lay down and unwind on the comfy bed with the wood burner crackling away and the sound of the river close by. Beth and Mike were very friendly and communicative, and the housekeepers Heather and Phil are lovely. They even built us a little temporary shelter for us to cook outside on our stove. Ideal if you want to escape to the wilderness for a few days.

    Catherine2020-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights here and absolutely loved it. So tranquil & peaceful, beautifully decorated and such a comfy bed. Couldn’t have been better! Thank you so much Mike & Beth for sharing your truly special space with us.

  • A rustic, artistically designed tiny house in the midst of charming nature, tastefully furnished with many small, loving details. We had fun using the outdoor shower, which is so new that it smells of wood. Nearby is a long swing bridge a 10 minute walk. Great to eat in the evening and in the morning in front of the tiny house. An experience!

    Jonathan2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Mike and Beth’s studio. Great views and peaceful place, also very romantic!

    JoAnn2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing place! Jan’s home is beautiful! The location is amazing, and the loft is spacious, comfortable, and clean. Breakfast every morning was fresh and delicious, and Jan was even nice enough to let me do a load of laundry. One of the best Airbnb’s I have ever stayed in-Jan and her family are lovely! Highly recommend. I hope I’ll be back one day!

    Jessica2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous spot, very clean and cozy. Up a fun little road with lots of animal friends, peacocks and sheep and goats! Jan is an excellent host, very friendly and helpful, and her breakfast is delicious. Wish it weren’t raining so we could enjoy the views more, but the rain was excellent for sleeping at night.

    Sarah2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • 100% stay here. The pictures don’t do this place justice. It’s got amazing views and the rooms are comfortable, bright and fresh. Jan is an amazing host and serves the best breakfast. Not to be missed! Thanks Jan!

    Alicia2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Jan is the best part of this airbnb! She is a fabulous host and goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. Glorious view of the Kahurangi Mountains from the house. Notably, (1) there's a long zig zag gravel driveway up to the house by my compact car made is up fine (2) there are 3 small dogs (which I enjoyed) in the house; outside sheep and peacocks and (3) the bedroom can get a bit hot during the summer and there's no A/C or fan inside the bedroom. I had a great time here.

    Uma2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Jan's accommodation is great, in an idyllic setting surrounded by mountains and on a very well decorated farm, the welcome by the hostess is warm and the breakfast is excellent. Don't miss it!

    Christophe2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • Oh, where to begin?! This was such a lovely experience! Outstanding hospitality in beautiful surroundings. The space is both rustic and modern at the same time. And meticulously clean. Beautiful bedroom, bathroom, and loft area. We absolutely loved the farm animals (goats, sheep, peacocks, and chickens), but Poppy, Gizmo, and Cruise (the three small dogs), stole our hearts!! And then there’s the view and the stars! The food was fantastic, and Jan goes all out to ensure that everything is as you want it to be! If a pampered stay in a peaceful, rural setting is up your alley, this is for you! It’s also an easy, picturesque drive to Abel Tasman National Park for fantastic hiking. Thank you, Jan and Daman. It was such a pleasure to meet you both!

    Ngatimoti, Motueka, Tasman, New Zealand

Nestled in the heart of the serene Motueka River Valley and located just 15 minutes from the Motueka Township, Stratheden Cottage is a newly refurbished farm cottage with high quality modern facilities, situated on 250 acres of rolling farmland and native bush. With its spectacular mountain vistas and stunning night skies, this is a perfect hideaway for those looking to escape. This is also the home of our Valais Blacknose sheep, termed the cutest sheep in the world.
Sit and relax on the deck in the sun and watch our native birds or be up close and personal with our cattle and rare Valais Blacknose sheep. (We have our pet half bred valais lambs Benny and Pumpkin for you to pat and also our beautiful purebred valais ewes one of whom had a lovely lamb on the 1st December) If you prefer something more active, there is so much more on offer in and around the area. These are but a few: Swimming, kayaking, wineries, world class fishing rivers, famous Lord Of The Rings location, Abel Tasman national park (location of one of New Zealand’s ‘Great Walks’). Whether you’re visiting by yourself, as a couple, or bringing the whole family, this is the perfect holiday spot for everyone. This property primarily specialises in farming grass fed cattle, providing beef to Silver Fern Farms. It’s usually possible for visitors to walk around the farm and as a working farm, see the animals up close (subject to farm conditions). At certain times of the year you can watch our Valais Blacknose lambs playing just beside you or if you wish you can feed them their snacks. The two bedrooms contain a queen bed in one and a double/single bunk unit in the other. The property is child friendly and fully fenced with a highchair and portacot available on request. Unfortunately due to the proximity of our sheep to the cottage we are unable to allow dogs on the property. There is better than average phone and WIFI coverage. The cottage contains full kitchen and laundry facilities. The open plan living gives spectacular panoramic views. A BBQ and outdoor seating completes the experience if you enjoy Al Fresco dining on the deck.
Beautifully private with amazing activities just a short drive away.
  • Our family had the best time at Lindsay, Sally, and Jess's place! We loved every minute. The space was comfortable and perfect for our little family of four. The farm is beautiful and we had so much fun meeting the sheep and exploring the grounds. Sally and Lindsay were so friendly and responsive. They taught our girls all sorts of things about farm life and my youngest daughter exclaimed that she loved them :) A really fun and relaxing stay!

    Nicole2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The place is well-furnished. We have the cutest neighbors, the Valais Blacknose sheep that my wife wants to take home to pet. We have enjoyed our stay!

    Ken2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stratheden Cottage was our first time staying in a farm. It was beyond our expectations. Sally and Lindsey were so friendly, yet not overbearing. The beds are so comfortable, the common area is stylish, well stocked with everything you might need. On top of that, our seven-year-old got to feed those cutest sheep in the world, and we got to see the most brilliant night sky! We can’t think of anything else I could ask for!

    Weicai2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous setting with beautiful mountain views. Lindsay Sally and Jessica were so hospitable. Cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The cute sheep were great neighbours and we loved our farm tour. We wished we could have stayed longer.Best place we’ve stayed at.

    Margaret 2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most amazing stay at stratheden cottage! The place was beautifully furnished with all the amenities one would need, coupled with small thoughtful touches around the house that just makes the stay even more comfortable. Had an amazing tour around the farm too, to see the cutest and most friendly sheeps ever. A must stay if you are in the area! One of the best airbnbs ever! Highly recommended! :))

    Merissa2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely few days we’ve spent at Sally and Lindsay’s place. It is a great base to explore the wider region. The house is very well equipped and super clean with gorgeous views. Meeting Sally and Lindsay, who were so warm and welcoming, made the whole experience very special and the children clearly adored being able to meet the sheep and lambs. Would definitely recommend.

    Gregory2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to spend a few days. Wonderful hospitality!

    Leslie2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time staying here and would highly recommend it! The cottage was comfortable and extremely clean, with a very well-equipped kitchen and a much-appreciated assortment of breakfast goods left in the fridge for us. Lindsay and Sally were such genuinely warm, generous hosts and we really enjoyed our chats with them. And the sheep - even cuter in person if that's possible!

Country retreat, close to Motueka Valley River, 5mins drive away. Motueka Town, known as the gateway to the Abel Tasman national park is 15mins drive away. Quiet location which allows you to get back to nature. Accommodation provides a modern self sufficient experience with access to private courtyard outside area, with views of the surrounding countryside.

  • Newly renovated place in a beautiful setting ... we just love feeling butterflies in our stomach when we’re approaching an unknown airbnb spot and this was so so much better than the average listing. Pheasants (and then the hosts) welcoming us was a cherry on top of an already very tasteful cake.

His sweet chickens are your neighbor :) just the right place to enjoy some peace on the country side. Markus is such a lovely host! We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in the garden and the surrounding countryside: perfect for biking or going for a small hike to the hills with beautiful views to the Tasman mountains. Our stay felt like living with friends or family :) We would totally recommend it to everyone!

  • Amazing stay at Dave's house. The house is directly a luxury, super comfortable, spacious, with a large garden, good bathroom, grill and even Jaccuzzi! Dave is a great host, willing to help, he even approached us at the bus stop when we left. We spent beautiful days at home. Ideal to visit the Abel Tasman Park 10 minutes by car and with offers of tours in front of the house. Thanks for everything!

♥Have the entire place to yourself ♥Unlimited Internet ♥Unlimited Netflix HD and Youtube and Spotify ♥Very central location. ♥Restaurant in the same block. ♥Supermarket on the corner ♥Wholesalers across the road. ♥Kaiteriteri beach 15 mins by car (access to Abel Tasman ) ♥Abel Tasman 20 mins (Marahau) ♥Nelson is 35 mins ( with all the boutique wineries and arts and crafts in-between) ♥Mapua Wharf 15 mins. ♥Nelson Lakes 1 hour ♥Golden Bay 1 hour ♥There are high fences and a lockable gate.
We are extremely Central. Close to everything very secure parking for your motorbike or your precious car. There is a bar 2 doors down another bar on the corner a supermarket on the other corner with great restaurants in between, a bank 1 block away and wholesalers across the road. What more could you possibly need? The very popular Kaiteriteri Beach with its golden sands is 10 minutes away, The Abel Tasman (the jewel in our crown) is accessible from Kaiteriteri or Marahau if you want to walk. To the south, we have the beautiful Nelson Lakes. There is a motorcycle workshop 3 doors down and an automotive workshop just down the driveway. If you are wanting to wake up to bird song this is not the place for you.
The apartment is right in the middle of town. All the cafes and bars on your doorstep and a supermarket on the corner.
  • Excellent location in the centre of the town. We had everything we needed for a 5 night stay. Good walking close to the home.

    Anthea2020-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Well located in the centre of Motueka, the apartment is large and close to restaurants or supermarkets. With 2 bedrooms, it was perfect for 3 adults. Be aware that the walls are thin, so you can hear noises from the garage during working hours (same building) or from the street (traffic). But if you wake up to enjoy Abel Tasman area (hiking, kayaking, beaches,...) it won’t be a problem. Good communication with Adrian.

  • This accommodation was probably the best we ever had in New Zealand. Everything what you need is provided and much more. Nicky was really fantastic and she is really really nice and her dog is also very lovely. We would come back all the time and we highly recommend this accommodation.

  • Weka cottage is a lovely place for anyone who wants all the comforts of home in a beautiful river valley with mountains all around. Nicky is a fabulous hostess and the cottage is really charming with full green views. We only stayed 3 nights but would have loved to stay longer. We climbed Mount Arthur which was really close and swam in the river across the road, baked our favourite things we needed for more camping and tramping. Nicky has a yoga studio. Wish we had done a class! It was really nice to be able to feed the chooks and enjoy Cora the gentlest dog we've ever met. Awesome place. Would definitely come back if it's available again.

    Lou2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • If you want to be immerse into nature this place offers that, the Weka cottage were my family and I stayed recently was spacious, cozy, and beautiful outdoor. It was clean and tidy. We had a lovely relaxing time.

  • Nicky is a genuinely warm and caring host. The yoga studio is new and well equipped..wish we had more time! The cottage is light, sunny and spacious with a very homely feel. The setting is idyllic...lush green spaces, tall trees, bird sounds and the rapidly flowing Motueka river lulling you to sleep. The location lends itself to all the natural beauty of the Abel Tasman Region..heaps of exploring, great trout fishing..nice to return to a quiet place away from the crowds. We loved the BBQ at sunset and actually stayed 2 extra nights! Excellent for couples, small families and definitely highly recommended!!

  • We got our dates mixed up and were unreachable as we were out for the day in Abel Tasman National Park with no network. We were supposed to leave in the am but thought it was the next day! Yveta was expecting other guests on the same day and she was kind enough to pack our things and made sure it wouldn’t get wet had it rained etc. So nice, thank you so much. Great place with the outdoor dining area and the dogs are lovely!

Luxury modern studio with private spa pool and luxury furnishings, set peacefully above the banks of the Motueka River. Situated in our 55 acre rare breed farm, with trout fishing and a swimming hole at the foot of the drive and bush walks up to the top of the hill, the Sanctuary is a place to relax, unwind and switch off to the sound of the river, native birds and very little else. Guests report "this leg of our honeymoon has been the most relaxing, memorable and tasty of the trip so far".
The Sanctuary is a modern studio with private spa pool on the deck overlooking the valley and the river, an enclosed garden suitable for a small dog, and luxury furniture and fittings - "everything you could ask for" according to guests. We feature local artwork and our own photographs around the space, with everything designed for a couple to have a relaxing break away from it all. Situated up a long private drive through paddocks of sheep, past the olive grove and fruit orchard, the Sanctuary commands a view northwards up the valley. Designed for two, we can cater for infants in a cot on request (no extra charge). Everything here is provided for your stay - luxury linen and towels, bath robes for the spa, eco-friendly toiletries etc., along with free range eggs from the farm, homemade preserves, muesli and bread and fresh milk.
The Havens is located about 25 minutes south of Motueka on the banks of the Motueka River. We are about 55 minutes from Nelson airport, 90 minutes from the Nelson lakes, 5 minutes from the Kahurangi National Park and 45 minutes from Abel Tasman. Situated just on the edge ofthe Nelson Taste Trail - one of the best known cycle trails in New Zealand. We are about 15 minutes from the nearest takeaway, store, petrol station or pub - so bring your own food or talk to us in advance to stock the Sanctuary for you. Our local pub is the Moutere Inn - a fantastic place to drop in for an evening, with great beer (reminds me of home and English country pubs!), good food and some good local music too.
  • I highly recommend staying here for a few days to relax and check out the gorgeous valley. The farm itself is lovely. The sheep were very curious about my campervan. I loved the complimentary bread. Best AirBnB experience I have had by far.

    Kevin2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • If you are seeking solitude and love the sounds of nature, Sanctuary will be a good fit for you. Everything you could possibly need has been thought of and provided in a very efficient space. Richard, Susan and Cassie are attentive and friendly hosts. Two things you should know before you go: 1) while private, the unit and particularly the hot tub are in general view of the hosts home. 2) for longer stays, be prepared to cook meals because the dining options are few and far. (We LOVED the Moutere Inn!). As others have said and it’s worth repeating, this property has a million dollar view. Simply stunning. Awesome rental. We are grateful to the hosts for sharing it with us.

    Amy2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • The sanctuary really lived up to its name! Such incredible hospitality from Sue and Richard and a wonderful space to unwind and enjoy nature on their land. Cannot recommend enough for a great respite on the South Island.

    Shaun2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The Sanctuary has a beautiful view of mountain ranges. The cottage has a good combination of a great rustic feel and modern comfort. Both Richard and Sue are super hosts! They provide farm-fresh eggs, milk, orange juice and other great amenities. Sue is a superb cook. My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

    Ken2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic place, unbelievable views from the accommodation which is superbly appointed. Very welcoming hosts who left nothing out.

    Steve2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a special, tucked away little spot of New Zealand. We feel so incredibly lucky to have been able to stay here; if only our trip were a little longer to have booked in longer! Richard and Sue are so incredibly welcoming and full of knowledge, from detailed information on the area, to seeing the animals they are raising (the cutest little sheep, ducks, chickens) and their sweet dogs Archie and Toffee. They are building something special here and you’d be lucky to stay here and see a snippet of that. Amazing fresh bread and homemade spreads, fresh eggs, milk and OJ, coffee/tea, homemade muesli from their own nut trees, everything for an amazing healthy breakfast. Their orchard is incredible. The shower and bathroom is huge and sparkling clean, and we had the best sleep in the bed. Wifi was very speedy. Richard even took the time to show TJ the best fishing spots. The views here will leave you breathless. Don’t miss this special spot, book right now!

    Michelle2020-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • A great place for more than one night in a beautiful valley. Very friendly hosts.

    Thomas2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Have to say out of all the places we have stayed doing the great taste trail this one was the best. The hosts were lovely and the accommodation was fantastic with so many thoughtful touches and really quality furnishings we were really impressed. Even the outdoor spa was really clean and such a wonderful addition. Also the value for the quality is really excellent, again in relation to more expensive but less quality places we have stayed at on the trip. Highly recommended and if we are ever this way again would be a place we would be keen to stay at, especially ads romantic get away without the kids next time (but was really family friendly if you bring them along).

We enjoy hosting visitors in our Christian family home. The room has a queen-size bed and a single bed. Shared bathroom facilities. We are close to the entrance of Motueka, to local cafes, the hospital, the Catholic Church, and nature walks.
This room has a queen size bed and a single bed. We have a portacot and a high-chair available for use. The house itself is not set up for curious toddlers, but we welcome guests with children with parental supervision.
We are located in prime distance to a local cafe (Toad Hall) as well as being very close to the maternity and geriatric hospital. The estuary walk is also very close.
  • They are so friendly welcoming people. I heard good stories from them and they made me laugh a lot. I also love the breakfast, especially the home-made sourdough. It was fantastic. I'd like to visit them again:-)

  • Andrea and Bruce are lovely welcoming hosts, and made us all feel very welcome into their home. The house and room are perfectly clean. Breakfast provided was excellent.

    Aaron2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome twosome, wife and husband duo. Andrea was a perfect host and Bruce a great personality. We enjoyed the early checkin offer and Andrea made us very comfortable from the first minute we met her. Bruce went on to show his lovely garden and even allowed us to pluck the Lemons from his small orchard. The breakfast was well laid and personally served by Andrea early in the morning and time was no constraint. We loved the hospitality and recommend anyone who wants to visit Motueka. And a personal note - please interact with Andrea and Bruce that is what they are there for. We will be back soon.

    Rohinton2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The days with Andrea were very nice and felt like home. Andrea and her husband are very hospitable and you have the opportunity to sit in the garden after a hard day in the evening or in the living room with them :) I also had brochures about nearby restaurants in my room, which was also quite helpful.

    Katrin2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea and Bruce were amazing hosts! They warmly welcomed us and made us feel very much at home. Breakfast was a highlight with Andrea’s homemade sourdough bread. We also loved breakfast being served on a China dinner set - a lovely touch. Their house is in a very quiet part of town but not too far from local shops and they have a lovely garden which you can sit out in and enjoy, with the occasional cluck from Andrea’s chickens. We will definitely stay at Andrea and Bruce’s if we return in the future. Highly recommended!

  • I thank Andrea for the open and warm hospitality, giving us as many insider’s tips as possible as to enjoy the local amenities! We appreciated a lot the wonderful walk towards the sea in the late afternoon, fantastic sunset, really invigorating! The breakfast was good, still I greedily expected those pancakes you see in the picture as you book. Well we were happy we spent 2 nights at Andrea’s!! Warmly recommended!!

    Massimo2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Very kind couple, giving us nice tips about the surroundings, we enjoyed a fantastic walk from the house towards the beach, with low tide than and heaps of nice birds to see, spectacular sunset! The breakfast was ok, I was just missing the pancakes from the picture I saw during booking the room. The location is very nice, so we decided to stay one more night. I would recommend the place !

I stayed in a room within her house and it was great: comfy large bed & bedroom, great shower pressure and she had a great kitchen she was happy to share. Mountain River Retreat is located in the Pearse Valley on a 700 acre farm with grassland, forested hills and a mountain backdrop. The Pearse River forms a natural boundary at one end of the farm with several streams meandering through the property; Valley slopes are grazed by deer & cattle. The Cottage retreat is tucked away behind trees, surrounded by the sound of flowing water and native birds, as you look out over a crystal clear river.
  • Our stay was magical. What a beautiful place. This was the perfect start to a perfect vacation.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Ursula’s cottage. She is very welcoming and has great local knowledge on the walks and swimming holes. The cottage is private with a lovely outlook over the river. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. There is also excellent wifi. We found the cottage conveniently situated between the two National Parks, which meant within an hour you could be at the start of a fabulous day walk. We highly recommend this accommodation and plan to stay again.

  • Loved staying here. Its wonderful to be surrounded by trees and the sound of the stream at night was amazing. Its a bit of a drive from Motueka town but we explored the area which has loads to offer. The kitchen has more then you need to be able to cater for yourselves too. Ursula was always very responsive and even left us some yummy plums. :) Id easily recommend this cottage.

  • Just the right place for us - clean, comfortable, very friendly but not 'in your face', rural and lovely and quiet.

  • A wonderful, peaceful location with stunning views. Barbara & John are delightful hosts and provide a warm welcome, conversation and helpful insight into the area - the complimentary breakfast of home grown produce is delicious and a real bonus. An amazing place to stay made all the more special by the care and attention provided by Barbara & John

    Howard2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I have just returned from a beautiful 3 night stay with Barbara and John. The perfect location for anyone wanting to explore the local area and have a real New Zealand experience. Barbara and John were fantastic hosts, the room and facilities were excellent - everything has been thought of and more, and the attention to detail was perfect. I was made to feel very welcome and at home here and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

    Amy2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay, the homemade jam, honey and fruit preserves were delicious! Barbara was really helpful, gave us advice on the local area and recommended restaurants etc for us to go to. Having a fridge, toaster and kettle provided was a nice touch (the fridge was a great help to us in summer!)

    Daniel2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely & spacious room with a private access. The picnic table outside is great for a sunny breakfast. We loved the quietness of the space and amazing night sky! Barbora and John are very welcoming and are always busy around the house (keeping up the garden and fruit trees) and come by every now and then for a chat. The homemade honey at breakfast was delicious! My only tip would be to have a bit larger portions at breakfast.

    Pieter2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you spend times to Barbara and john’s house you will find lovely people who will share with you their passion and hobbies. You could spend a wonderful moment and surprising moment if you just let it go. It s a very confortable and quiet place to stay near from the beach and the town. You have to book their. The view is just amazing.

    Nadia2020-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The farm is in a quiet location with a beautiful view of the ocean. Barbara & John are very personable. The room is big and very clean. To go to the small bathroom, you have to go through a garage that is now used as a storage room (but this is not a problem, since it is also clean and immediately adjoins the room). We would go back anytime.

    Carola2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara's Tirohanga was a true retreat. Overlooking the turquoise waters of the sea, it was a refreshing experience. The place was well equipped with all the amenities we needed for our vacation and served as a great location for a base to Abel Tasman, Motueka, and Nelson. We truly enjoyed our stay with a high degree of privacy while still having our hosts available for any concerns.

It was interesting to talk with them while eating dinner with the family. The breakfast was all fresh made and I enjoyed it very much. 'Atatū' means "just after sunrise" - our favourite time at the property - the sun travels across the sea to outline the hills and all is clear, crisp and peaceful. It's a great base for outdoor adventures, wine tasting, olive grove picnics, art gallery visits or delicious meals and craft beer in NZ's oldest pub, the Moutere Inn. A glorious spa pool awaits you. The well-specced kitchen and BBQ ensure you'll have all you need to prepare sumptuous meals to complete your Nelson experience!
Atatū sleeps eight people in four bedrooms with 3.5 bathrooms. (Complimentary Port-a-Cot available on request.) The furniture reflects the owners’ many years living in Asia - a combination of Bali meets China, with some modern pieces thrown in. Apart from lovely bed linen and fluffy towels, you’ll find waffle weave bathrobes in your room - perfect for your meander to the Nespresso machine in the morning before curling up on the daybed on the outside terrace, enjoying the birdsong and view, while planning your adventures for the day. Or, of course, as you make your way to the spa pool after a busy day of activities. The home is always warm and cosy. If you need it, we have central heating with radiators in each room, there is a heat pump in the kitchen and a fire in the living room. There is flexible check-in with a key safe/lock box. We'll send you the code for your stay in the Atatū/Hawkridge PDF (Hawkridge is the former name for the property). We have a fully fenced front lawn with toddler-proof locks. There is a washer and dryer should you need it. We only use environmentally friendly cleaning and body care products. It's a wonderful space to hang out with family and friends. Enjoy!
Atatū is close to some of the best outdoor and culinary experiences New Zealand has to offer, but without thronging tourist crowds. German settlers arrived in the Moutere about 175 years ago and started its reputation for high quality artisanal products. There are vineyards, art galleries, cheese makers, olive oil producers, organic skin product creators and mushroom and berry growers to name a few. An annual local highlight is the Moutere Artisans Day on Labour Weekend - see their website for details - a weekend celebrating fabulous local produce with open workshops and cool events! If you don’t feel like cooking, the Moutere Inn, the oldest pub in New Zealand, is only a 7 minute drive away. They have great craft beer, all their wines are sourced within 10 km of the Inn and their delicious meals are made from scratch in the Moutere Kitchen. The Moutere Hills vineyard (12 minutes drive) also has a very good restaurant for lunch or dinner. Kahurangi Estate Wines has Tastology - who provide a delicious range of local foods to accompany your wine tasting or to take back home. In 16 minutes' drive, you can reach the delicious water-front dining and art galleries in Mapua. Nelson airport is only 30 minutes away by car. We can put you in touch with scenic trips and fly fishing excursions run by an experienced local helicopter pilot. He knows the property well (he used to live there!) and can land on your front lawn to whisk you away. Atatū is 5 km from the Tasman Great Taste Biking Trail (the Dovedale / Neudorf turnoff). We are in a great location if you want to do the circular route in stages and have a short break at Atatū to enjoy the Moutere. Our Guide to Atatū also contains tips for some of the many, many adventure and culinary highlights for visitors exploring the region. In addition, there is a Lonely Planet Guidebook to the South Island at the house, as well as many brochures to browse through. We hope you have an incredible stay.

  • Beautiful home with a view to die for. Great location to explore the foodie delights of the region. Huge interior, well equipped with a modern kitchen, spacious bathrooms (with fluffy towels and luxurious bathrobes), a relaxing hot tub, lots of great books and movies, and, importantly, a Nespresso machine. A real home-from-home experience. Would definitely return.

  • This home is over the top!!!! We have been traveling for seven months in Australia, Bali, and now New Zealand. Not many places can blow our minds but this view and home did just that. You could stay here and not need to leave, it’s spacious, comfortable, outfitted to cook, ect. Also, perfect for kids. It’s was hard to leave to check out all the surrounding sights and found ourselves wanting to get home to grab a good book and read on the daybed enjoy the views. The hot tub is a bonus and so enjoyable in the evenings watching sunset. Us and our kids loved it!! They would be running around first thing eating a fresh apples from the orchard. Don’t hesitate to book!!! Family of five traveling for a year abroad. Follow our adventures on Instagram: @ThePorterCrew

We are located in prime distance to a local cafe (Toad Hall) as well as being very close to the maternity and geriatric hospital. The estuary walk is also very close.

The Ruby Bay Beach House is ideal for couples or solo adventurers and is situated at the rear of our beach front property. Our little bit of paradise in Ruby Bay is close to the seaside village - Mapua and is a perfect stopover for those cycling the Tasman Taste trail. Day trips to Nelson City and the Abel Tasman National Park are only a 30 minute drive away. The use of the beach front and spa pool is yours.
The Ruby Bay Beach House is a studio guesthouse with a super king bed which can be separated into two singles. Tea and coffee facilities are provided and there is a small fridge to keep your wine cool. In the bathroom there is underfloor heating. All bed linen, bath towels and beach/spa towels are supplied. Transport to Mapua Village to explore restaurants and use of the paddle board and kayak is available on request.
Mapua is described as "the perfect mix of classic kiwiana, charming boutique shops and quality restaurants". One of our favourite things to do is to have breakfast at the Mapua wharf and then take the ferry to Rabbit Island for a picnic lunch and a swim. In the late afternoon, return to Mapua on the ferry for a craft beer at the Golden Beer and fish n chips from the Smokehouse on the beach.

Top of the range bed linen, towels, crockery and glasses. The place was easy to find, and we loved our morning jog to Mapua Wharf for a coffee. Also had an amazing meal at the waterfront restaurant in Mapua the night before. We highly recommend Leigh's cottage.

Very close to the beach with easy access, but the owner’s house blocks any view of the beach or sea from the actual accommodation. The spa pool we were able to use is facing the sea, however. • Lynn was such a great host meeting me at my arrival and giving me the tour. I really appreciated her timely responses. The place itself had a number of great touches including the super comfortable front porch and lovely breakfast. Would definitely go back.

  • Beautiful and stylish place with a great outdoor grill! So peaceful and quiet at night. Lynn was lovely to meet and provided us a bit of information about where to go and brought some things down for breakfast which was very kind. Would recommend!

  • Lovely, quaint little place in the countryside! Well appointed with stylish decor and all of the amenities you could need. We took full advantage of the outdoor grill and kitchen amenities and enjoyed a nice home cooked meal out on the patio. This is a great retreat, perfect for a few days of unwinding and slowing down. Conveniently located near Abel Tasman, town and a great variety of wineries.

  • A great place to relax only a few minutes out of Nelson. Mapua is even closer and a great place to get local food and wine in a township with some atmosphere. Stylish place and we’re bummed we could only stay for one night.

Riwaka is a small charming town famous for being the “food bowl” of New Zealand with a rich history of growing tobacco, hops, apples, grapes, pears, kiwifruit and everything in between. These days Riwaka is a well-connected place with two great cafes, a popular craft brewery, real fruit ice creams and an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables.

  • Everything we needed for a couple of nights stay, cheap petrol station next door. Currently being renovated, and the rooms are very nice. The communal area has everything you’d need. Great stay.

  • This hotel was founded at yr 1853 and has just been renovated. Luckily I become the 1st guest after its renovation. The manager is Steve who is a nice man, guiding me to look at the hotel facilities. He even installs a new rice cooker for accommodating Chinese travelers. I had a very nice sleep during my stay.
