Eurobin Creek runs along our property and we'll share with you the directions to a secret local swimming hole a few minutes walk from the house. With no wifi or tv reception, and limited mobile reception - Nine Steps is a rare opportunity to really switch off and reconnect with nature and with family, friends and loved ones. Room configuration: • Bedroom 1 - queen bed, deck & ensuite • Bedroom 2 - queen bed, deck & door into main bathroom • Bedroom 3 - two single beds Check our Instagram @NineSteps.Bright for more images of what makes us happy! The House • Nine Steps is a three bedroom, two bathroom home with a large open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, as well as a smaller second lounge. • The house is designed so guests are sheltered from the weather, while still feeling a part of the environment. Large picture windows are a key feature of the house, along with the many covered decks. • The great room has a large wood burner, air-conditioning and three ceiling fans, as well as opening windows to catch the breeze and cooler evening air. • The fully equipped cooks kitchen is set around an island bench with bar stools - perfect whether you're preparing breakfast or enjoying some local cheese and wine. The Environment • Nine Steps was built to be environmentally friendly with a 6 star energy rating. We're also members of our local Landcare Group and the Australian Conservation Foundation. • Nine Steps is self-sufficient for water - collecting rain water and spring water which is then treated via sediment and UV filters. • If you wander around the property you will see many wombat burrows and hear many birds (lots of kookaburras!). Signature Experiences • Private chef and fine dining experience: Nine Steps offers a private chef experience - a three course meal with local produce, table service and you won't have to do any cleaning up afterwards! Nine Steps has a 3.7 metre long dining table and a fully equipped kitchen, so why not add a private dinner experience to your special occasion, girls weekend, family gathering or cycling weekend. • Private yoga class: The large 'great room' is perfect for a private yoga class, or experience a beautiful yoga practice outside in the 29 acre grounds of Nine Steps. Our yoga teacher can cater for all levels and will structure a practice to suit your needs. • Alpine Concierge Services: To make your stay at Nine Steps even more memorable, imagine arriving to a hamper of local produce for breakfast or dinner. Or perhaps you need help organising a romantic occasion, or special event. Alpine Concierge Services can create a bespoke experience just for you. • Weddings: We would love to host your wedding! Our approach is to charge for the house accommodation and a per head charge for guests. We leave the organisation of catering, seating, decorating, portaloos, etc to you so you have complete control over your special day. We can also connect you with local event organisers. **Read our reviews and you'll see just how special Nine Steps is!**
Nine Steps is the closest accommodation to Mount Buffalo and has stunning views of this spectacular mountain. You'll have all 29 acres of Nine Steps to yourself, yet are only a 10min drive to Bright and its' food, wine and chic shops.
  • We had a wonderful stay at Nine Steps. It was the perfect place to escape and unwind for a few days. The beautiful home caught the spectacular view of Mt Buffalo and brought the outdoors in. There were lovely warm touches around the house, and everything was perfectly clean! Melissa was a friendly and responsive host, definitely highly recommended!

  • Nine steps is simply stunning. I can attest to this having been the first time round and being so blown away we couldn’t wait to book again. The property was flawless and the surrounding nature is magical. Sadly we did not make our last visit due to unforeseen and difficult circumstances. However, Melissa’s kindness, communication, flexibility and responsibility as a host is second to none. Very highly recommend this property.

  • Nine Steps was a perfect getaway. Idyllic location and gorgeous accommodation offering everything you’d need. Thank you Melissa for being a great host, your communication and for offering such a welcoming place to stay.

  • Amazing piece of land next to Mt Buffalo and a house befitting of splendour upon which it sits. We loved being out of town but so close it was no hassle to drive in. Wildlife, morning sun on the deck, evening sun on the other deck, and perfect peace and quiet.

  • Melissa was the most amazing host - completely responsive for even smallest questions! This house is divine and perfect for two families. Two separate spaces were wonderful. We had a fantastic five days. And everything we needed. Thank you.

  • Fantastic hosts. Fantastic property. Couldn’t fault it. We had an amazing time.

    Ben2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property in a stunning location. Great place to escape and relax. Hope to return one day, we had a lovely time.

    Angela2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • There are not many places where you can wake up and watch the sunrise hit a waterfall cascading down a mountain side while you drink your morning coffee. You then turn to see that the corellas, galahs, and magpies have all landed in the yard from the surrounding forest hoping for the morning feed from the birdseed bucket. This a beautifully constructed retreat with a thousand nice touches through out. You can tell a lot of time and effort was put into every room to make it is as pleasant and well thought out as possible. The location is amazing, and an easy drive from everywhere we wanted to go. It’s a perfect place in a perfect part of the world. We’ll certainly be back.

  • Wonderful, private hideaway near Lake Buffalo. Perfect for a couple getaway. Beautifully finished cabin with top quality fittings. Some of the best amenities in any Airbnb we have stayed at. Very tastefully furnished. The property is lovely if you are after something secluded – although it's only a short drive to Myrtleford. Highly recommended!

    Sam2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was such a gem - quality appliances, beautiful finishes, and a great space to relax and rejuvenate. We loved our time at Steven’s place, from the stunning surroundings, friendly cows and horses, to the our hosts quick responses and help in making our stay comfortable and peaceful. Myrtleford was an unexpected treasure too - some great cafes (Coffee Chakra, Cafe Fez), classic country town bakery, and basics like supermarket and even a Target! Such a beautiful part of the world too - despite lots of smoke haze from bushfires, the mountain backdrops and green river valley were a perfect antidote to city stress.

    Sam2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great spot to relax for 4 nights and use as a base to visit wineries and other local attractions. Beautifully fitted out cabin with some great views of the valley.

    Russell2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cabin, deck and farm. A perfect couple getaway a short drive (or bike ride) from Myrtleford, wineries and hikes. Stylish, new and clean with fantastic little touches throughout. Highly recommend. Makes sure you take a long weekend so at least one of the days can be spent enjoying cabin, deck and cows.

Our lodge was built by master carpenters, the massive feature beams impose a secure and natural presence in the lodge. Our combustion fire will ensure the winter chills are kept outside as you dine in full view of Mount Buffalo through our 10m high windows. Our property is a time out zone with no TV reception and minimal phone signal. Leather sofas invite sleepy afternoons, and cuddlesome nights. As a land for wildlife property, you'll meet wallabies, wombats, deer, owls, and king parrots.
We’ve approached every detail with the care an artist would give to his or her masterpiece. The 1st floor is occupied by an indulgent master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and spa bath with views across virgin forest that spoil you. Downstairs there are luxurious queen and double bedrooms, with a shared bathroom that includes a shower and an elegant cast iron claw-foot bath. Our property is at the foot of Mt Buffalo and backs onto Mt Buffalo National Park. Scattered around the grounds are approximately 100 fruit trees, planted as rent by those who stayed in the original hut throughout the years. We'd love you to help yourselves to our organic lemons and whatever other fruit you can find during your stay. The Lodge is managed in accordance with Land for Wildlife, a voluntary scheme that encourages and assists private landowners to provide habitats for wildlife on their property. We provide a spotlight for guests to search for animals at night. You are likely to see wombats, wallabies, kookaburras, lyre birds, bower birds and even occasionally the rare yellow bellied gliding possum on our property. Adults and kids can enjoy the grounds of the lodge with two swings, a tree house, an enormous maple tree to climb and 20 acres of bush to explore or picnic in. We do have tea lights that guests can use, on request, to plan a special night time dine in the forest or a treasure hunt for their loved one/s.
The region is home to a wide selection of boutique wineries, gourmet cheese factories, gin distilleries, artisan bakeries, Chocolatiers, craft beer, olive groves, pumpkin seed harvesters and freshly roasted coffee. Bright has grown to be recognised as the outdoor adventure centre of Victoria. Hang gliding, paragliding, rock climbing, mountain biking, road cycling, hiking are all easily accessible from Bright. The rail trail is popular with families and those who prefer the more leisurely experience off the roads. There are plenty of places to rent bikes in town.
  • We loved the tranquility (particularly hard to find in the mountains at Christmas), the views of Mount Buffalo (and proximity to the National Park), the bird-life - rosellas, parrots, kookaburras galore in our ‘own’ backyard as well as the honey-eaters down by Eurobin Creek. A real getaway treat, we couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

  • This lodge is a perfect place to stay, in the middle of the woods, quiet and peaceful, wildlife all around. We saw kangaroos, possums, wombats and many types of birds. Lovely bathroom products provided as a luxurious touch! Great to have use of the spotlight and telescope also. Eibhlin was quick to respond to questions and gave good recommendations for walks and things to do. This house was very toddler friendly with a portacot and highchair. Thank you again!

  • We had a lovely stay at Emma’s. The house is very inviting and there is a lovely view with the sound of the running stream in the background. Plenty of wood for the fire with additional heating in the bedrooms. Loads of movies to watch and the Wii was a hit ! Just a minor thing was the extra charge for using the second room which we haven’t ever had before on Air BnB but it didn’t impact our stay we thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • The place is amazing and very scenic. It is a must not only for your eyes but for your soul too. It has a warm and homely feel. We had access to the paddocks and other common areas too. We had a guide dog Lottie as a blessing who showed us around. We were travelling as a family of five (two seniors & a nine year old) - all of us loved the place in our individual way. We were fortunate to meet the delightful owners, Sarah and her team (special mention to the little one who became friends with our nine year old). We will certainly recommend this place to our friends and family. And, will be back very soon!

Hand sanitizer at entry. 700 metres from town, but in the countryside with views to the hills and a Eucalypt framed lawn outside your room. living space features large, glass sliding doors to nature and has a wood lined cathedral ceiling, modern kitchen with microwave, gas cooktop, electric oven, refrigerator and all food preparation necessities. The house has wifi, and at the guest end of house is one other guest room, plus bathroom, laundry, and toilet.(I live at other end but share kitchen).
The room is a single bedroom with external sliding glass door, and lockable internal door for your privacy. There is a shared kitchen/living space, and shared laundry/bathroom, and toilet. There is one other room adjacent to yours, a queen size one, so it is possible that there could be up to two other guests sharing the common areas with you. Your host, Paul, has his own bedroom and bathroom at the opposite end of the house.
Yackandandah features two pubs, a number of eateries, supermarket, and assorted other retail and tourist outlets. There is a museum, art gallery, and nearby are over 50km of single track mountain bike trails. For the mountain biker it is 4.8km to the trail head, which can either be ridden or driven to, and this point, as well as the trails from the trailhead, is higher in elevation than the township, so after a ride it is an easy roll back down the hill to home. Nearby is an artisan pottery.
  • I was in Yack (Yackandandah) for work at a nearby winery and spent a couple of months at Paul’s. It is very close to town, easy walk (although I mostly drove); nice spacious room, open plan living (1 wing is guests with bedroom and bathroom, Paul lives in the other wing) Very peaceful rural setting, quiet with the added bonus of the town literally minutes way, town has all the necessities; a couple of pubs, post office, supermarket, post office etc (Not in any particular order!!!). I throughly recommend it as a top over if you are breaking up a drive or for an extended stay.

  • Had a great stay at Kent and Sevasti's lodge! They provided us a lovely bottle of champagne and chocolates and left out lots of booklets of places to eat and explore in the area. They responded to my messages very quickly and at all hours and sent us updates of the smoke. The area is beautiful and we got to meet Eric the Elk. They were very flexible when our plans had to change. The spa was really nice with lovely views out the windows, bed was comfy, and they had the aircon on and ready for us. Definitely great hosts and I would recommend anyone go there.

Come and stay in our beautiful, homely farmhouse. Set in the foot hills of Mount Buffalo, on 1 acre of lush land with many trees and birds, our farmhouse can be your home away from home. Enjoy bushwalks from the front step, watch the sunset in the valley from the back seating area, swim or fish in one of the two rivers that borders the property or ride bikes to spectacular Lake Buffalo. Cosy up next to one of 3 fire places inside, or bake a cake in the traditional country kitchen.
We have plenty of room to move, with a paddock to run free in and veggie patches and fruit trees to help yourself to. We also have some shy African Sheep roaming the land to help keep the grass down. Feed them your food scraps, and they'll love you! Inside you'll find a comfortable and cosy living space, with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is a cosy, rustic country kitchen. A 'summer' lounge with a Bakers Oven fire place and wrap around windows to watch the bird life in the garden. As well as a 'winter' lounge with an open fire and floor to ceiling bookcases filled with books for you to peruse, with lovely views of the back of the property.
We are perfectly located at the base of Mount Buffalo, only a 5 minute drive from Lake Buffalo, where you can enjoy boating, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. We have stunning views of Sugarloaf peak and have direct access to 4 wheel drive tracks and hiking trails, with our own secret waterfall to visit. The property is nestled between two rivers, safe for swimming and good for fishing. Myrtleford is 10 minutes down the road, which is home to a great selection of cafes and restaurants, and the Alpine Regions 'hot spot', Bright, is only a half hour drive away.

  • Casey's cottage is a lovely rustic get away. Very simple but have everything you need. beautiful atmosphere in the garden with greens and flowers. The location is also great, 10 min driving from Bright. Casey was very welcoming. If you find a nice peace of wood in the forest, like I did, don't hesitate to ask him for tools for carving.

    Chin Lin2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed at Casey’s thinking it was only going to be for one night but I liked it that much I extended my stay another night. Place was warm and inviting. Seperate rooms all joined by a common living area, kitchen and shared bathroom. Place was clean, with eclectic little touches and beautiful flowers in vases. Gardens are just stunning and Casey was very welcoming, responsive and helpful - even offered me his snowboarding gear to go to Hotham for the day!

    Lindsee2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Basic but sufficient accommodation. Great value in a beautiful setting. Will probably stay again.

    Riley2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Casey's cottage is nestled off the back of an old store, surrounded by mountains and moments from a great local pub. An old building, but certainly not without it's charms. The barrel fireplace kept us cosy and the electric blankets were a welcomed addition in our room. Kitchen was fine, everything in working order (a previous reviewer had said it was not?). Casey was welcoming and communicative without being obtrusive. House was tidy, and bed linen crisp. Only thing that could have been better is a lock on the cottage door or bedroom doors (given its a shared space). Other than that, a great stay. Would def come back!

    Gabriele2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I wanted a cozy, affordable place to end our long days of exploring by drinking tea and lounging by a fire. We found exactly that here at Casey’s. A peaceful location with rapid hot water & an amazing large fire place. Casey was willing to help us in any way possible and showed us great hospitality. We are grateful for our memorable stay here—especially for the value since we hardly use the inside of our accommodation wherever we go!

    Audrey2019-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • Casey's place is spacious and comfortable. We had a lovely stay and I highly recommend staying here.

  • Stayed in the cottage which is very spacious and set in old cottage style gardens as the listing suggests .Casey extremely friendly and seems to be around if needed. Pleasure to sleep in such a great bed with the freshest of linen and bed coverings. Ideal for the budget conscious traveller. Casey was extremely helpful when we lost our key to the cottage. Chris

  • We were pleasantly surprised by how clean and cosy the house is. Beautiful surroundings, close to the town centre without being in the middle of everything. Plenty of space for the dogs and the kids loved the pool. The kitchen had everything we needed and was very well stocked. Very well thought out floor plan and the veranda was lovely to sit on, either watching the pool, sitting in the rocking chair looking out at the horses or lazing in the hammock! We had a very relaxing getaway but next time we visit we will definitely book for longer! Thanks so much Alison. You were a perfect host with a perfect place to get away! See you again soon.

  • We had a wonderful, stay at Alison’s. She was a terrific host and the house was airy and spotlessly clean upon arrival! The beautiful decking is terrific for a morning coffee and we spent hours there reading our books under the umbrella. There is plenty of space and the roomy kitchen was equipped with everything we needed and even oil, salt/pepper, tea/coffee. The house is located a quick drive or 5km walk from Bright. We were thankful for the serenity and it was great to relax after a big day in the great outdoors. Thanks for the yummy chocolate too!

La Casetta is a Mud Brick Country cottage with modern amenities. The cottage has a full kitchen, modern bathroom, queen sized bed, wood burning stove, split system air-conditioning & comfortable lounge. Large north facing windows lead to a spacious deck with umbrella, Chiminea and BBQ. Watch the sunrise over the Black Range, catch the sunset on the hills, star gaze at our amazing galaxy on clear nights, unaffected by city noises or lights & bring your furry friend, they will thank you for it!
We have a 5 acre property located at the head of the beautiful King Valley and La Casetta is an original mud brick cottage which overlooks our lower paddock. You are likely to see our Dorpa sheep, our neighbors cows, any one of our 4 dogs, a few chooks and the odd kangaroo. The sun will rise into your large front windows while the Kookaburras serenade you. You can sit on the front deck overlooking this view while having a steaming cup of coffee or a glass of the local wine.
The King Valley, once Victoria's tobacco hub, is home to award-winning wineries, great pubs and fine dining restaurants. When the big tobacco companies closed down the tobacco industry in this lush, green valley in Victoria's North East, some three hours from Melbourne, the Italian immigrant tobacco farmers turned to what they knew best – food and wine. Although the industry wound up in 2006, many tobacco growers saw the writing on the wall decades earlier and diversified into grapes. Today the King Valley is a food and wine destination. Dining Up near the far end of the King Valley, where the bush-cloaked hills begin to close in and the old tobacco sheds give way to abandoned hop plantations, is the new ultra-modern Chrismont restaurant and cellar door at Cheshunt. Cool and white, with clean lines, this large building hunkers down into the hillside, looking onto the vineyards, to the valley floor below and up to Powers Lookout, once the lair of a bushranger known as Ned Kelly's mentor. Inside Chrismont is the cellar door and produce store where you can buy preserved and pickled fruit and vegetables and almond nougat reflecting owners' Arnie and Jo Pizzini's Italian heritage. In the restaurant, either inside by the fire in winter or out on the huge covered deck on those perfect High Country days, it's a casual Italian menu of simple ingredients cooked truly beautifully. Further downstream is the little town of Whitfield. It has a general store, garage, a very good cafe (The Whitty Cafe), cop shop and the Mountain View Hotel. This old boozer dates back to the 1860s and is built next to a culvert, dug by Chinese during the Gold Rush, which sent clean water to their market gardens on the river flats. It flows cool and clear through the beer garden giving al fresco dining a zen-like quality. The staff at Mountain View are mostly European; high-level chefs and sommeliers from Italy. There is fresh local beer flowing through the taps in the bar and the now famous 1kg schweinshaxe – or roast pork knuckle with loads of potato salad and trimmings served at the bar. The pub has launched a new Italian inspired menu which is bright, tasty and good value. A short stroll down the road is Dal Zotto Wines. Northern Italian immigrant Otto Dal Zotto is the man who introduced the Italian sparkling wine prosecco to the Australian wine industry. It was a wine he fondly remembered drinking as a young man in his home town. Try the different proseccos in the cellar door as well as the other Italian varietal wines such as sangiovese and barbera. His family's trattoria sits on the King River flats, surrounded by river red gums and looks out onto the vineyard and the hills beyond. The dining room is built in rustic corrugated iron to reflect the style of an old tobacco shed on the vineyard. The dishes are Italian family favourites starting with prosciutto pizza, there could be a ragu of lamb with homemade gnocchi or a pan-seared Milawa duck breast. Check out Nonna Elena's vegetable garden, where a lot of the veg for the kitchen comes from, or have a game of bocce after your meal. Down by the river flats where the King veers towards the Ovens River at Oxley is a stylish, squat cement brick building that seems to meld into the landscape and surrounding river forest. This is Sam Miranda cellar door and restaurant. Try the wines and see what museum stock is on offer in Pop's Cellar. The food is classic, wine-friendly bistro-style dishes with perhaps a pork and chicken terrine with some house chutney, followed by a Stone's Throw eye fillet, a steak sourced from the beef herd grazing a stone's throw from the dining room. Newly open is the King Valley Dairy. This is the Myrtleford Butter Factory that outgrew its home and had to find somewhere else. Expect good butter, cake and coffee with meals. Cellar Doors Young Joel Pizzini is really embracing his Italian roots and making some truly remarkable nebbiolo at Pizzini Wines. While distinctively different from the Italian incarnations of this grape, his wine making is definitely informed by the great Barolo wines of the Piedmont. The cellar door is home to Katrina Pizzini's A Tavola cooking school. If you have never tasted saperavi before then drop by Trevor Knaggs at King River Estate at Whitfield. He makes this Georgian grape variety using biodynamic vineyard and winery techniques with minimum intervention. Some wine reviewers think it is one of the best examples in the country. The cellar door is an old milking shed and the vineyard and grounds are kept in immaculate condition. While the Pizzinis are from the north, the Politinis are from the south of Italy. They are known for their value-for-money table wines offering the Sardinian white variety vermentino and the Sicilian red Nero d'Avola with tastings done for Politini Wines served in their (licensed) garage under their home at Cheshunt. Glen Merkel grows his grapes up in Myrrhee, a little bit off the beaten track, so bought the pub at Moyhu in the Valley where you can taste his Merkel Wines German-style riesling and gewurztraminer. Since he and his family have renovated the beautiful old pub it's gained a new lease of life serving great pub grub and pouring delicious wines. Brown Brothers have been making wine at Milawa since 1889 and although at the tail end of the King Valley much of their fruit is grown in the further up the Valley. The historic property has a very professional cellar door and a very good restaurant, Patricia's Table. But this is not the end, you can also try Gracebrook Winery and Bistro, Red Feet Winery, Francessco Winery, Symphonia Winery, Darling estate Winery or cross the Black Range to Myrtleford and Beechworth and a hundred other wineries and eateries. We are in paradise here, spoilt for choice. Come join us...... This story has been plagiarized from an article by Richard Cornish Travellers Table: The King Valley in GOOD FOOD June 2016 ;)
  • This is one of the most beautiful places i have been too. Alan and rowena are lovely people. Ill be back .

  • Fabulous location and fabulous accommodation

    Julie2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was just perfect. What stood out were the little touches, like a well-stocked cookie jar, freshly picked herbs in the kitchen and a beatiful rose on the nightstand. All the essentials were well covered, and plenty of luxurious thoughts as well, like a snuggly throw on the couch, eggs fresh from the chook pen and no TV, a luxury which is easy to forget! Can't reccomend this place more highly, Alan & Rowena will think of everything you need before you do. But you can cenrtainly ask for pretty much anything, as well.

    Susan2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding hosts, outstanding accommodation, outstanding value... this was our second stay at one of our favourite places in the world - no exaggeration!

    Josh2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Alan & Rowena’s place is awesome. So chilled, perfect location and everything you need for a couples weekend away. Great access to all the local wineries, pub, brewery etc... and there dogs were so great. You can even go get some freshly laid eggs for breakfast from the back garden, and Alan went and got us some freshly baked local bread 👍 highly recommend this place, we will certainly be back 😊

    Victoria2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Such a secluded and relaxing gem. Minutes from 4 or 5 of the best wineries in King Valley. Super comfortable and well appointed cabin with so many great personal touches and extras. Alan and Rowena are excellent and knowledgeable hosts and their dogs adopted us in seconds.Just an awesome escape.

    Brett2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Allen and Rowena were super welcoming. Their place is very homely and comfortable, with lots of considerate touches. The setting is gorgeous. We found them to be wonderful hosts who very kindly shared their local knowledge with us. A great spot.

    Jessica2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • La Casetta is the perfect little home for your winery escape. A beautiful setting surrounded by bushland to walk or ride. A short drive to local wineries & brewery, quiet location, pool, friendly dogs to brighten your morning & a great selection of board games available to reignite some old school rivalry. We highly recommend this location If you're looking for a quiet getaway with a loved one.

My place is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Bright, where you can access the Ovens River and enjoy wonderful restaurants and cafes. You’ll love my place because it offers a quiet, peaceful location with a laid back retro feel, on the doorstep to all the amazing activities in the area.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids).
Baker Gully Retreat is situated in a beautiful garden setting, surrounded by large pines, boarded by Bakers Gully Creek and only a 10 minute walk to the town centre. 2 Bedroom budget 1970's(unrenovated) style self-contained unit(listing is for 1 unit, ask us about the second) with the ability to sleep up to five. Unit contains 1 double bed in the main bedroom, 2 singles in the second bedroom and a futon couch in the lounge. The units comes with a fully equipped kitchen (nothing flash, just the basics) allowing you to cook up a storm at home or with the property only a 10 minutes walk to town you can stroll down and enjoy a meal at one the many eateries that Bright has to offer. The retro furniture and decor in the units will take you back in time to a time of carefree living, and the gardens surrounding will make you feel relaxed on arrival. Bright has so much to offer, the activities seem endless. While staying you could try: - Golf at our 18 hole golf course. - Paragliding. - Mountain bike riding in the Mystic MTB Park. - Bike riding along the Murray to Mountain bike trail. - Swimming or Kayaking at the Ovens River or Lake Catani, Mt Buffalo. - Hang gliding. - Local tennis court are for hire. - Splash Park - Stake park & BMX track. - Amazing walking/running tracks. Day trips are a must when visiting Bright. Wandiligong, Harrietville, Beechworth, Mt Beauty, Milawa and of course Mt Hotham, Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo all offer visitors much to see and do. If Food and Wine(or Beer) are your passion here in Bright & surrounds you will not be disappointed, you can take your pick from so many different restaurants you wouldn't have to eat at the same place during a week long visit. Bright is known for its four distinct seasons and the Spring & Autumn Festivals help us to celebrate two of them, with open gardens, fireworks displays and parades in the main street. Bright also plays host to many other amazing events over the course of the year including, Hot Rod weekend, Brighter days weekend and numerous sporting events.
  • Situated in a quiet location on a large natural block- kangaroos at night and kookaburras in the morning! All as described and the shower was magnificent after long bike rides.

  • It was so amazing, my wife and I loved every minute of our stay. So serene and peaceful. The balcony, hidden among trees with autumn leaves and a magnificent view of Mount Bogong was the best part of our trip. The good-sized spa has also have a breath-taking view. Sevasti and Kent were so kind. Sevasti showed us the farm and gave us some carrots to feed the Elk. Yes, there was an Elk on the farm. We would love to go back there.

If peaceful, private and picturesque is what you are looking for, this is it. Five minutes from restaurants and pubs even though you feel like you are way out of town. The communication was great. We are just sorry we didn’t get to meet the hosts as they had to be away. Highly recommend this stay. Julie and Ron.

Clean place, with hand sanitizer at entry. Just 700 metres from the main street yet outside the urban area, with hillside views, and on an acre of land private from neighbours. There's a communal, living space (kitchen/living room) with cathedral ceiling, sliding glass doors, and a guest area with two bedrooms, bathroom, toilet, laundry - each bedroom with access to the lawn via a sliding glass door. House has wifi.
The room is a queen size room with a glass sliding external door as well as a lockable internal door.
Your bedroom has a sliding glass door and screen door opening onto a lawn framed by eucalypts, and visited by many different birds. In Autumn the driveway is a myriad of colour as trees begin to lose their leaves. There is a collection of old books and DVDs (old school) which guests are welcome to use, as well as playing cards, board games, and an acoustic guitar. From here it is a short walk into town, and an easy mountain bike ride or drive to the single-track mountain bike trailhead (4.8km). Yack tracks has a network of over 50km of dedicated single track mountain bike trails, constructed on natural loam terrain - well drained in wet weather, but low dust in hot weather. The trails are higher in altitude than the town, so after a ride it is an easy roll down the hill to home. Most trails are contoured, making hill climbing an easy process, and on the way down, the flow of the trails means both experts and beginners can enjoy the ride, each traveling at a pace comfortable to them. Yackandandah has two pubs, a number of coffee venues, a supermarket, and numerous other interesting shops. Ladies, don't forget to visit Karen in Klimt for your fashion! Art lovers can visit Charles Sluga's amazing gallery, while lovers of history will be enthralled with our local museum, cemetery, and mining past.
  • Stunning property. Conveniently located. Paul made everything feel seamless from start to finish. Will be returning!

    Tania2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Yackandandah is a perfect place for a stop over and Paul's place is wonderful. The living space and bathroom is shared as Paul rents a second room. If you are OK with that, then the place is just perfect.

    Orsola2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Paul's place is just out of town but nice and quiet and a lovely outlook from the bedroom. Its well set up for guests with the bedroom/s and bathroom at the other end of the house to Paul's. Nice to have the use of the lounge and kitchen area. Enjoyed my stay.

Saje's Pod is a two storey self contained unit with private access and parking. It has a queen bed with ensuite and an upstairs living area and kitchenette, opening onto an undercover shared deck. Saje's House has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, a comfortable living room, two bedrooms, (two couples, or, one couple and two singles) two bathrooms, a laundry and a shared deck.
So much to do and see and so little space. Come and enjoy the surrounds.
  • We had a lovely three night stay at Saje's Pod. The apartment was clean & modern, within walking distance of the town & very close to the rail trail, which we made the most of. John was prompt with his messages & instructions were clear, allowing for easy access & use :)

    Rebecca2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Peaceful place with an amazing view. Well organized hosting. The Pod is clean and exactly like on the pictures. Our short stay was perfect. Thank you John !

  • For a couple wanting to explore this picturesque region of Victoria, this makes an ideal base - easy striking distance of Bright, Beechworth, Yackandandah etc. Alternatively, it makes an perfect stopover on the rail trail, which was our reason for being there. This is a brand new, stylish, 1 bedroom, 2 story apartment. With a large downstairs bedroom, with large comfortable bed (& electric blankets), it has a cozy upstairs lounge room with TV and kitchenette. For cyclists, there is a secure bicycle lock up. All up - highly recommended. It’ll be our “go to” spot if we’re back in this region.

Spoil yourself in the serenity of our beautiful property. Sidling House is set on 1.5 acres of gardens with newly renovated rooms with pillow top beds so you will easily be able to relax and unwind. We provide you with breakfast with our fresh fruit and nuts when in season! Enjoy the guest lounge, or just snuggle up in your room while taking in the views of the Wandiligong valley
On our property we have the oldest standing structure in the area which is an old hut built by gold miners in the 1850's. Also part of our home is "The Nut house" which is a 4 room cottage built in the 1890's (This is separate to the guest accomodation). Our property is heritage listed to preserve the rich history. We have lots of fruit and nut trees which attract a vast range of native birds, and we also have 42 resident kangaroos that live in the paddocks along the track!
Wandiligong is a sleepy little historic mining town. It is beautifully tranquil and there are lots of lovely walks to do. We have a couple of cafes to choose from and are a short drive to Bright. We are centrally located between Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham and Falls creek, each around an hour away. We are quite the food and wine destination with the area scattered with picturesque wineries and breweries and bars popping up too.

    Ben2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Angela is an excellent host! She prepared fruits and cold drinks for us during the 2 hottest day of summer thus far. Breakfast provided was a good spread of cerea, toast with spread and jams, fruits and drinks. The images and description of her place is also accurate! Overall we enjoyed our stay with Angela and should we visit Bright again in a different season we will defo stay at hers!

    Erica2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Angela’s place is neat and tidy. Close to all amenities Bright has to offer. She is very good to chat with and has kept the house very clean. I would definitely recommend this to others and stay here again. The parrots in the evening is a bonus :) we had a 1 year old with us and felt very comfortable around the house.

  • Staying at this lovely home was a delight. Angela was so warm and welcoming, a truly good hostess. Im happy that we got to meet, and stand by what I said to Angela earlier: I wish all people would be a bit more like her. Much love, Esin and Nick

  • Angela was a very caring host with a lovely home. I would recommend staying with Angela if you are going to the Bright area.

    Rachel2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Angela has to be the most enthusiastic AirBNB host ever. She did everything possible to make our stay perfect. The back deck is home to all the local birds and looks onto the rail trail with it's happy foot and bike traffic. The front deck is a sun trap and hard to leave after sitting down to take off your shoes. Don't think we've ever felt more comfortable with any host and have lots of great memories from Angela's hospitality and home cooking.

    Janet2019-11-25T00:00:00Z

  • A wonderful place to stay and an ideal base for riding the Murray to the Mountains trail. We stayed three nights. The location is lovely, with the property backing on to the river and a short distance to the Whorouly pub which is a little gem. I also went for some nice walks around the local area alongside the vinyard. Possibly the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. . Bryan and Michelle are great hosts and even left figs from their garden in the fridge for us along with a cheese platter.

Green Gables is a peaceful cottage situated in lush gardens on the banks of the Ovens River in Bright. The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is right on our doorstep making it the perfect place to rest your weary legs after a day on the trails! From Green Gables, it is an easy walk, ride or drive into the township of Bright with its boutique shops and eateries, regular festivals and of course beautiful European style landscape all nestled in the foothills of the Victorian Alps.
The cottage is Tudor style on the outside and has a fabulously renovated interior in a modern alpine style. The brand new kitchen features stove, microwave oven, sink and fridge. There is a cosy couch and TV in the living room which opens up to the beautiful garden through bifolding doors right off the living area. Even if it is chilly outside, the views will still be spectacular no matter the season. The deck off the living room is perfect for bird watching or eating breakfast while listening to the river. The loft bedroom is a peaceful escape under pitched roof with a brids-eye view through the trees and out over the garden. There is an big picture window with a cosy daybed to sit on and read or just dream the afternoon away. The bed is a comfy queen you may never want to leave. There is a friendly dog Gillie who lives on the property. He loves pats!
Bright is renowned for its cafes, eateries and boutique shopping. There is always something happening in Bright and the surrounding areas. The deciduous trees and mountain views make it a popular place that people come back to time after time. The ski resorts Falls Creek and Mt Hotham are accessible from Green Gables Cottage or Mt Buffalo is a short drive away for snow play. Mountain Biking has become a favourite of visitors and locals in Bright with the Mystic Bike Park keeping adrenaline pumping! The Ovens River flows directly behind Green Gables and is a great place to cool off or try your hand at fishing.
  • By far, this has been our favourite airbnb stay so far! The cottage/tiny house was so cute, clean and stylish with everything that you could ever possibly need or want. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for our wedding anniversary, surrounded by a huge beautiful garden and breathtaking views of the mountains. There is even a tree house and bench overlooking the country field if you want to relax outside. The cottage design and interior are truly stunning (traditional Tudor style on the outside and amazingly modern /bright on the inside). Everything inside the house was colour coordinated, showing the huge amount of attention to detail that has been put into making this place memorable. We personally loved having breakfast beside the big colourful window, eating lunch under the sun on the porch and relaxing on the cosy couch in the evenings. The fact that the cottage is tucked away in a secluded part of the countryside makes it a perfect place for couples to enjoy some romantic and peaceful time together. At the same time, we also found the location very convenient as Bright town centre is only a few minutes away and the Victorian Rail Trail is right at the door step of the property. There are so many different walking trails to soak up the majestic views of Victoria's High Country from this cottage! All the things we needed were supplied - kitchen equipment, breakfast supplies, coffee machine etc but what exceeded our expectation was when we found a personalised card from the hosts, a small box of chocolate and some fresh blue berries upon our arrival. Gay and Rob's hospitality and thoughtfulness left us speechless. Gillie, the Jack Russell doggie, was another highlight as he was so affectionate and cuddly every time he came to play with us. What an amazing and memorable getaway!!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at green gables, the cottage was beautifuly decorated and cosy, it is the perfect little place to get away and just relax. The hospitality from Gay and Rob was outstanding and we would highly recommend this place to anyone.

  • Beautiful house with traditional exterior and very modern interior. The quality of the interior and its detail is amazing. Great location and even better hosts. Thank you very much, Gay and Rob!

    Daniel2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Green Gables was a wonderful stay, quiet location, beautiful gardens. Located about 3 km from Bright but an easy walk (on the rail trail) or cycle ( Gay loaned us bikes). Really comfortable place to relax.

    Peter2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful little cottage with all the amenities you need. Very peaceful spot, but still close to Bright and surrounds!

    Daniel2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was everything as advertised and beyond. Gay and Rob have such a beautiful property to roam around just a few minutes by car or bike from town. The space was perfect for two relatively tall travellers for four serene days in the woods.

    Drew2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Gay and Rob were delightful hosts. It is a little bit of paradise in Bright. Thank you very much for your hospitality.

  • Can absolutely recommend the Green Gables without any second thoughts. Amenities and atmosphere are excellent and I can guarantee that you will not want to leave. Our hosts were extremely thoughtful, polite and added personal and seasonal touches for our stay.

  • A great stay for a single or couple wanting to explore the area. A very clean and comfortable space wine some lovely touches to make you feel special. The views from the verandah were great and Chas, the host was friendly and welcoming.

    Gail2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place! Views are spectacular. Quiet and clean. Host is very nice. Would recommend over and over again. Great place to enjoy some wine and cheese from the region!

    Morgana2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Our weekend stay at Chas’ place was absolutely spot on. The location and views are great - we easily rode to several wineries and the brewery in the day from Chas’ place, with plenty of time for stops, tastings, lunch and even a little snooze! The cabin was spotlessly clean and so well organised. Chas provided great foodstuffs for breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed taking coffee and breakfast on the front porch each morning watching the sun creep up the far side of the valley and listening to the birdsong. Chas was always responsive and really couldn’t have done anything more to make our stay fantastic. Coffee machine is a plus, the shower was good and hot and for a one bedroom cottage it felt very spacious. We couldn’t recommend Chas’ place, or a stay in the King Valley, highly enough. Thanks Chas!

    Jarrod2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing weekend in the King Valley staying at the cabin. The views from the verandah are beautiful, and Chas's local reccomendations did not dissapoint. Check-in was stress free, the cabin is well presented and has everything you need.

    Erin2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed here on his birthday and we absolutely loved it. We had lunch at Chrismont winery down the road, and there were many other beautiful wineries right near the cabin as well. The views from the deck are superb, and we spent a long time soaking in the countryside from the comfort of the hammock. You're a couple minutes walk away from a lovely little creek, and we saw some kangaroos in the nearby paddock. Lots of beautiful birds in the area too, saw 4 kookaburras! Chas is a lovely host and thought of so many careful touches like providing dairy free yogurt for my partner and I (we're vegan) and complimentary wine/breakfast foods. If you want to explore gorgeous wineries and come home to a clean, beautiful bush sanctuary, this is your spot. Thanks again Chas!

  • Such an incredibly beautiful location and great for us as cyclists riding the Murray to the Mountains trail. The room was adorable with a lovely little porch for sitting outside - the photos don't do it justice. Ted and Joy are both wonderful people and I wish them all the best. Thanks to Ted for showing us his light plane. Not a negative about the property, but the only thing I'd add as a heads up for other travellers, is make sure you don't leave anything outside at night. A little critter (maybe a bush rat?) unfortunately made off with my shoe. Also (as the AirBnb site can be a little confusing) make sure you follow the host's directions rather than the ones generated by the website (when you click 'Get Directions'). We initially went to the wrong house.

  • Great rural location just outside of Bright. Beautiful lavender farm with lovely views across the hills where you can take an evening walk to spend time away from it all. The room was quaint and had everything that I needed. Jug, plates, cutlery and a little fridge. The bed was very comfortable and warm and I had one of the best nights sleep I'd had in ages listening to the water fountain, cows and birds. The bathroom was clean, spacious with nice towels and very hot water. I loved sitting outside on the grass with a wine in the evening. It was very peaceful. To add to the experience, you couldn't ask for more gracious hosts, even in this current 'virus climate.' Joy took time to have a long chat about the mudbrick house that Ted built from scratch and about the farm (from a socially acceptable distance of course) and I had the privilege of Ted showing me around what I can only describe as a shed equipped for car lovers (especially Ford lovers). Truly lovely hospitality and I look forward to coming back.
