We welcome you to be our guest in our comfy, warm cabin nestled on the lower Wisconsin River. We disinfect entire cabin between each guest. We are close to many area attractions including Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin, House on the Rock, American Players Theater, Wisconsin Dells, and much more! Activities include canoeing, fishing, hunting, shopping in quaint villages, or just relaxing watching the river... Our cabin is easy to get to and close to area villages but in a private setting.
Our cabin sits about 30 feet from the river. We have a spectacular view of the river from a large picture window in the cabin, or from sitting on the deck or back yard bench.
  • Very nice little cottage. The view of the river was lovely, and the brownies the host left were a delightful touch.

  • Terrific cabin on the Wisconsin River. Amazing views with outdoor activities at your fingertips. Rick and Sandy are great accommodating hosts. Much looking forward to our return trip.

  • Loved the stay here much. By the second day it was already feeling like home. These two are wonderful people and with the early snow they made sure we were taken care of. Sandy works in a lovely flower shop half an hour away that we were invited to visit.

  • What an absolutely lovely stay! Sandy was a quick and communicative host, and made it easy to extend our stay. She also made us some chocolate pudding, which we all enjoyed! The cabin was extremely well equipped— we made dinner there every night! The views are spectacular, and the changing colors of the leaves were lovely. There is a grill that we used, and a fire pit where were made a fire each night. The space was more than comfortable for myself, my fiancé, and my mom. We stayed upstairs in the bedroom, and mom had the downstairs level all to herself—lots of privacy. We could not have asked for a better stay! We would come back to the area in a heartbeat— just to stay at the delightful little cabin and enjoy the fall views! Do yourself a favor, and book Sandy’s cabin!

  • Wonderful place to stay! Sandy was a great hostess, meeting is us at the end of the drive and showing us around. She even went as far as leaving a pumpkin pie and whipped cream! Beautiful scenery as well! Highly recommend this place.

  • Sandy was so considerate and baked special treats for our friends from UK. She responded to all my questions very quickly and was genuinely a wonderful hostess. I would love to come back again soon.

  • What a wonderful cabin and wonderful little place on the Wisconsin River with great views from the back window and also from their deck Sandy and Rich were great hosts and we hope to go back there again someday also the fishing was good for a few days did get a few big channel catfish smallmouth bass and a drum but the following day caught many fish including a few flathead catfish but they were all on a small side.

    Marty2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a place where you can walk out the back door and be a few feet from a gorgeous, wide river, this place is for you. A deck overlooking the river where you can grill on the grill or roast marshmallows over an open fire, while listening to the sounds of nature. Or you can sit inside and watch the river through the large picture window. Then in the evening, if you've had enough quiet, you can watch the very large TV - including Netflix and Amazon. Your hosts are gracious and helpful and there is comfort all around.

  • The cabin is beautiful and spotlessly clean. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed the quiet, rural location. We saw deer and a fox, as well as a ton of birds at the bird feeder. It was an ideal setting to catch up with family, cook in the nice kitchen and stage day trips.

  • Beautiful location. Super cozy cabin with all the important amenities. Julie puts lots of TLC into the place. Loved it!

    Jamie2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet place in the woods. It was the perfect place. Julie was helpful and offered to bring us clean linens whenever we needed. I would definitely stay there again!

    Marissa2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Julies cabin was more than we expected. It was very clean and Julies response to any questions was quick and with all the information we needed. We will be back! Tim

    Tim2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hilltop Hideaway was exactly what we needed and more than we hoped for. Peace and quiet was what we were looking for and Julie's warm, welcoming and secluded hideaway delivered! The surrounding driftless area hills are gorgeous. Even though it was foggy and rainy most of our stay, the woods were beautiful and so peaceful blanketed in fog. The cabin was so clean and everything we might've forgotten was provided. Julie was responsive when we messaged her asking about local amenities but otherwise she gave us our privacy. We'll definitely return again.

    Christine2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a fabulous cabin for our weekend get away! The place was clean, inviting, and stocked with everything we needed! Julie is a great host!

    Amy2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect getaway location for my family. The cabin was GORGEOUS!!! So clean and tidy. Thank you for the highly organized how to book (I'd never have figured out the TV remote without it). We loved the fire pit in the evening. Indoors Julie had such thoughtful touches the book nooks were amazing. The video collection had something for just about everyone (e.g Clue, Shawshank Redemption and some Steven Seagal movies) and the option of VHS and DVD. We appreciated having no Wifi. The phones still had data if we really needed it. We enjoyed playing board games and were pleased to find some in the cabin. This place is AWESOME!!! We're already considering a return visit.

  • I had a hard time choosing only one thing on the first question as so many things were great. Denise was super responsive and very accommodating. We have done rentals like this in the past and found this home to be a little better stocked than others. We did a small family Christmas gathering at the house and everyone immediately fell in love with it.😍

    Renee2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to stay. Deffinatly going to bring some friends for a retreat.

  • My partner and I have now come back for the second time in a year to Kathy and Dennis's yurt paradise. We love the simple, amazing space, the outdoors, and interacting with the wonderful hosts. We were able to bring our dog and co-exist in the wonderful space, even though it's very small. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful get-away, this place is perfect!

    Jessie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy and Dennis were incredibly wonderful. This stay was much of an experience and lead to a unique vacation for us while not straying too far from home. Dennis helped up navigate in the harsh Wisconsin snow and Kathy was personable and accommodating. Would for sure recommend to a friend!

    Lyndsey2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • It was so fun and relaxing to stay in the yurt. The area is beautiful and Kathy and Dennis are thoughtful and kind.

    Hannah2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised -- cozy little place with no shower and in the winter time no running water. But it was good -- happy I stayed here. If you are a light sleeper (like me), you might want ear plugs for the beautiful and calm wind chime outside and the space heater that kicks on every hour or two. Not a big deal, especially if you can sleep through soft sounds like these. I recommend this for the adventurous :)

    Tyler2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had the perfect winter adventure in this place! The yurt is wonderful, gets nice and toasty with the heater on! Can’t wait to be back in the summer and explore the area more! Kathy and Dennis are super nice people, very helpful. They helped us to get the car out the snow!

  • This was hands down one of the best places I've stayed using airbnb... and I have stayed in many! Sandy and her husband were excellent hosts! They were upper responsive, gave us local suggestions, and even baked us some of the BEST cookies we have ever had! The cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for! This would be the perfect place to go for a relaxing weekend away, or an adult friend/family gathering! It is right on the Wisconsin river so I would be nervous bringing small children, but man... the sunsets were unreal! We will definitely be back!

    Chelsi2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was very warm and comfy. The view is fantastic. We had all the amenities we needed to snuggle in for a couple of cold, soggy days. We were able to cook meals, play board games (some provided), watch movies (even used the DVD player for some Redbox rentals) and cuddle up in front of the fireplace. Sandy is a great hostess, she was very sweet to meet us upon arrival and give us the ins and outs of the cabin. It was very clean and nicely decorated. We will definitely be back again!

    Misty2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beyond my expectations! Everything about it was beautiful but the view was the best part! Sandy was also a great host and very quick with the responses, she also made the best pumpkin bread ever!!

    Shania2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very pleasant place, the owner Sandy is really nice!

    David2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place and friendly hosts. The basement area with the bunk beds was a little cold but there are a lot of windows so it’s understandable. Very cool layout and relaxing place.

    Kevin2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely spotless, comfortable furniture and beds, lots of room. The deck is right overlooking the river and very peaceful. Listen to the wildlife, you will hear many things, owls, coyotes and such. Very relaxing environment. There's a nice little winery in the area to check out as well as the countryside.

    Josh2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place to stay. I expected it to be a little noisy being that it’s above a bar and it was a Saturday night, but very little noise. Nice view from the deck, hope to enjoy the deck in the summer when visiting family again.

  • A spacious quiet apartment with an amazing shower + a great price!

    Nathaniel2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This place was just as described and fit my bill perfectly. There would have been plenty of room for 4 people, and the shower was very nice. The location isn't around much but was in the area I needed, and having a restaurant downstairs was nice. I could not hear any noise from the bar, except the employee door opening/closing went they were taking out the trash or something. That was rather loud, but not annoying or anything.

  • The space was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Marshall greeted us and gave us ideas for dinner. It is a short drive out of town, but the room has a lovely view!

    Carol2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marshall's place is in the heart of the most amazing Wisconsin countryside I've ever visited. He was a great host and the place was super clean, quite, and the drive to get there was breathtaking!

    Eddie2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying in Marshall's home. It was very clean and the view was incredible.

  • Rich and Karen's place is a perfectly cute option for a getaway. The location is off of the main roads which made for a lovely drive through the beautiful area. We would definitely stay there again.

    Kaley2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent home with a fully stocked kitchen(pots, pans, cutting board, strainer, and dinner setting for four). The laundry room was stocked with detergent and fabric softener. I appreciate the hosts providing multiple sets of towels, hand clothes and face clothes, with body wash. Additionally, they provided extra tp. Both bedrooms were nicely decorated and had extra blankets in the closet for the winter months. Simply put the hosts prepared the house as if they were living there. The only drawback was the spotty cell phone reception, but that could be a plus if you want some peace and quiet.

  • If you are looking to “get away from it all”, this is a relaxing place to be. Very rural location and beautiful drive. The cabin had everything you need for a comfortable stay, and Rich and Karen are very accommodating hosts.

    Carrie2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • Rich and Karen’s house was great! It was the perfect size for my boyfriend and I. The house was very comfy and cozy, I felt like I was right at home. The house has everything you may need and more. Very very clean as well and decorated very nice!

    Kelsey2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Rich and Karen were fantastic hosts. A friend and I stayed at their hideaway to be close to our deer hunt. All the amenities of home were present. Having a washer and dryer for use was a blessing for a couple guys out in the woods every day. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. The small touches were enjoyable. If you're looking for a relaxing stay in a small town setting, I highly recommend booking a stay. Rik Munson

  • This place is amazing! I highly recommend staying here! The views are breathtaking even in the middle of winter! I planned a surprise weekend away for my fiance for his birthday and our anniversary and it happened to be valentine's weekend as well. Gloria and Jeff left us a box of chocolates and had the lights on, radio going, and a candle burning when we arrived. It was so cozy! We spent the weekend relaxing watching Netflix and doing a puzzle. We also went to Driftless Cafe as recommended and it was so good! Our dogs also enjoyed the house and loved running through the snow on the property. Even prettier then the pictures!

    Kali2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gloria and Jeff have created a beautiful space and have thought of every possible small touch to make the stay that much cozy. Truly home away from home!

    Mackenzie2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely place! We definitely hope to be back. Jeff and Gloria's place is a wonderful "home away from home". Sparkling clean, tastefully decorated, and an amazing view of the surrounding countryside. It had snowed just before we came and we had so much fun sledding on the amazing hill behind the house! Jeff and Gloria are very sweet hosts. We enjoyed meeting them. They made us feel comfortable and welcome. Thank you!

    Darlene2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This place is absolutely amazing. Every little detail was beautifully executed in this sweet cottage. Not only did it feel cozy and comfortable inside, but the 40 acres of beautiful countryside outside our door was unbeatable. The hosts did everything they possibly could to make our stay wonderful, including hunting down a package that we ordered and did not show up at our door. We felt very well taken care of and can not wait to return on a future trip to the area.

  • Wonderful secluded spot with a breathtaking view! Perfect for a romantic getaway or family excursion. We loved the proximity to the great hiking trails around SW Wi. Our dog was also very much in love with the place! Definitely recommend!

  • What a gem! My husband Dan and I had a great weekend here with our pup. The house is spacious yet incredibly cozy and the views are fantastic. Try to catch a sunrise while you are here! Our city dog was in heaven exploring the surrounding farmland and woods. We've stayed at many AirBnBs, and this is probably our favorite of all time! Thanks Gloria and Jeff.

  • Our stay was great! The home was set up with every thing a person needs; the kitchen and bath had all the tools and necessities; the bedrooms were large and comfortable; the view over the valley was stunning. We definitely enjoyed our stay

  • Francesca and Raul are amazing hosts and the property and home are beautifully maintained and welcoming. We were encouraged to check out their trails on the property that Raul created himself for running, and we were lucky to be able to meet both Francesca and Raul and chat with them about their property and adventures in running different races around the country. They were even kind enough to let me borrow a headlamp to use for a nighttime run through the trails! The basement apartment is very nice with a full bathroom, kitchen with all the cookware you’d need, dining area, two bedrooms, and a private entrance. We also enjoyed sitting out on the deck by the fire pit after a nice chilly hike. Anyone who likes some seclusion and are a little adventurous will love this place. Next time we are in the area we definitely know where to go! Thanks guys, you really made our trip worthwhile!

    Michele2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at Francesca's place - it was easy to find and a gorgeous property with access to their land and walking trails. Spring Green is a lovely little community with so much to do in town and outside of town.

  • The house was delivered exactly as advertised and then some. Extra small amenities like shampoo and coffee were provided. Would stay here again when I'm back in the area.

  • Newly built cabin at the end of a gorgeous valley. Deer tracks everywhere and we were greeted by a pack of wild turkey on the driveway one morning. Everything you might need like pots, batteries, blankets are all exactly where you'd expect them. And Jamey turned up the heat before we got there.

    Sam2020-02-09T00:00:00Z

  • I'm back home and looking at my own kitchen appliances... shockingly disappointed compared to Jamey's cabin kitchen - a perfect little cabin for 2-3 person cooking. Idyllic views of the prairie below. Cozy wood cabin vibes. Responsive, attentive host, that also respects visitor's space (even asked us when it would be ok to plow the drive) = home away from home.

  • Amazing view, lots is sleeping room, Jennifer was gracious enough to let us have a leisurely checkout, beautiful place, in a great location.

    Jamie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place and would highly recommend it. It is located in a beautiful setting right next to the river. The house is not difficult to find. It is wonderfully maintained, very clean and very well equipped. We arrived on Valentine’s Day and Jennifer had set up a welcoming message for us as well as some decorations and chocolates - great touches that helped to make our stay that much more enjoyable. There are things to do nearby. We ate at Vicky’s Cozy Cafe in Muscoda (cute diner with well made food), and went on an easy hike close by. We would have gone on the Frank Lloyd Wright tour if they weren’t closed for the weekend :( Overall, a great weekend escape from the city.

  • Great cabin and very clean highly recommend!!!

    Sam2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jennifer’s property is absolutely stunning, and the river access cannot be beat. We had a blast tromping through the woods and sitting by the river around the outdoor fire pit. (We brought a couple bundles of firewood but there was plenty of extra already at the house.) The river access would be even more fun in the summer! The house itself is clean, comfortable, and super cozy but with plenty of space to cook meals, and good-sized tables for sit down dinners and board games. Jennifer was very responsive and even welcomed us with a cute sign and New Years party favors! I highly recommend!

    Laurel2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • She is a very great host and you can expect to have a very comfortable trip!

    Alex2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space off the beaten path with nature all around. It is set back from the main road, so it’s very well-insulated from noise. Backs up to DNR land. The river is beautiful. The home is a recently renovated space that also hasn’t lost its rustic charm. Very clean space, very responsive host with thoughtful touches. Excellent space just to get away from the hustle and bustle and get some head space. The town of Muscoda is small and charming...not far from Mt. Horeb if you need more supplies or a larger town. Would definitely come back!

This former U.S. post office is a well-appointed tiny house (230 SF) and farmstay in the Driftless Region of SW Wisconsin. You'll appreciate amazing views of our century-old hobby farm from every angle inside the Guesthouse. Nestled in a secluded valley on 13 acres, there is nothing to lose here except the madness of everyday life. This exceptional property offers high-speed internet (5G secure network), is available March thru December and is 20 mins to Richland Center or 25 mins to Viroqua.
Experience hobby farm living and the privacy of your own guesthouse - at Griff Run. This 13-acre organic hobby farm includes nine historic buildings including a dairy barn and root cellar. Inside the Guesthouse you'll find the perfect blend of old and new; antique furniture and fixtures mixed with modern touches like a 14-inch Saatva mattress, on-demand hot water and air conditioning. While we are not farmers ourselves, we love the company of our (outdoor) animal friends - and the menagerie changes regularly: horses, alpacas, chickens, the lovingest farm cats in WI, and one Goldendoodle. In summer 2019 we welcome two livestock guardian pups, Pyradors, and two baby alpacas (crias) - so stinkin' cute! The Guesthouse at Griff Run, itself, is free of animal allergens, however.
Our farm, Griff Run, is nestled in a secluded, private valley in the Driftless Region of SW Wisconsin. We can't see or hear our nearest neighbor, and, while we love them, we love that more. Our neighbors are hard-working farmers, English and Amish, as well as blue and white-collar professionals, like ourselves, just looking for sanctuary. World-class trout streams are a five-minute jaunt down a country road. Roam the area on one-lane farm roads surrounding Griff Run. You'll likely lose your cell signal as you descend into our valley. We tend to think that's a good thing...
  • My stay at Shauna’s was so amazing! We went for New Years Eve and there was a blizzard but it never felt cold inside the Airbnb. It is surprisingly spacious and well thought out with a huge comfy bed and really nice bath. The nearest town is a 20-30 minute drive but we were welcomed to explore their 13 acre property and meet all their super friendly pets. Shauna and her family went above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful. They literally gave us the last 11 eggs in their chicken coop to take home with us! It was so fun and I 100% will be returning!

  • An idyllic and bucolic little house in the middle of an alpaca and chicken and dog and cat working farm. We loved our time in Griff Run! If you're looking for a cozy spot to cook and get away from urban life, you'd love it here.

  • What a wonderful gem in the beautiful driftless area. The tiny house is very comfortable, well appointed/stylish and super clean. The farm fresh eggs were a delicious touch! Shawna and Matt are fabulous hosts. We highly recommend!!

  • This place is such an adorable cottage! We had such an amazing time and can't wait to come back again and stay longer. So many personal touches with the great coffee, tea, eggs and even cream. We had everything we could need to stay comfortably, especially in the kitchen. Also loved the cute bathroom and of course one of the most comfortable beds. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and cozy place to stay, not to mention some of the most beautiful nature to explore in this area.

    Annie2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a super cozy place to stay that truly impressed us with the personal touches. We loved the coffee and fresh eggs! Our weather was rainy, otherwise we would have loved to sit outside and enjoy a fire, but we enjoyed our relaxing time indoors as well. We also liked hiking in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and visiting Viroqua. Truly a fantastic get away!

    Kayla2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Magical little hideaway in the Driftless, complete with alpacas, chickens, and other furry friends! The guesthouse is even more charming than the pictures, and the craftsmanship and little touches show that a lot of hard work and love went into making this place special. Wear your grubby clothes, and shoes you don't mind getting dirty, as you'll want to do lots of exploring around the property. Sparkling clean, neat as a pin, bed was comfy, shower was nice and hot and had great water pressure. This was my first Airbnb experience, and Shawna couldn't have been more accommodating with my last-minute need for a place to stay. I almost want to keep this place a secret because I loved it so much! Hope to return very soon!

With the CoronaVirus threat, it makes sense to travel closer to home for a while. Our beautifully renovated 4400 SF Barnhouse is in a vintage 80-year-old apple orchard with a creek running through the middle of it, a private, spring-fed pond, 1100 acre county park with a "No-Wake" lake and close to Wisconsin Dells. Everything the Wisconsin outdoors has to offer without driving all the way up North to get it. We're only 45 minutes north of Madison and 30 minutes from the famous Wisconsin Dells.
Envision walking through the vintage apple orchard, you pause for just a moment, close your eyes, and take a deep breath of fresh country air and blossoms while being serenaded by the songbirds singing their hearts out. You focus shifts to notice the creek's gentle, soothing trickle running through the middle of it all, and the rest of the world disappears. That was the vision we saw the minute we looked at this property and we knew it had "vacation getaway" written all over it. It just needed a little TLC to get it there first. We created a living space and surrounding environment that we would want for the ultimate place to unwind, forget the rest of the world, forget work, soak up nature, and yet, not be too isolated if we decided we wanted a little more civilization now and then. And of course, it had to have all the creature comforts to make it a completely relaxing stay and not work. You can't get more relaxing, peaceful and convenient at the same time than this place. We would vacation here; and we do! We know others will see what we saw in it and appreciate its amazing location and features as well. It is a hidden gem in this part of Wisconsin. The orchard is a very peaceful setting with a variety of colorful songbirds that are attracted to it and a gently cascading creek through the middle of it. We also have a wonderfully shady walnut grove that is a great place for a hammock, or picnic, under the shade of one of the largest walnut trees in the state that we named Old Henry. It takes two people to put their arms around Henry's trunk, and there is something very peaceful and soothing about laying or sitting under his huge protective branches. The lake has a nice, clean beach for swimming, a boat landing and is stocked with bluegill and bass. There are groomed walking trails all the way around the lake, as well as rv/snowmobile trails, horseback riding trails, cross country skiing trails and picnic areas. This particular county park only charges $5 per day, or you can get an annual pass for only $25. You will never be able to kayak or fish all the lakes and rivers that Wisconsin has to offer in your lifetime. If you like the water, the forest and wildlife, this is the place to vacation, and our Barnhouse rental offers it all without the grueling drive all the way up "North". Don't worry about getting bored, if you desire some unique entertainment, we are only 30 minutes from the famous Wisconsin Dells where you can go mini-golfing, schedule a duck boat ride through the beautiful sandstone cliffs of the Dells, shop the souvenir stores, dine out or experience the largest water parks in the United States.
Very safe Amish community on one side with unique crafts and shops, farm community on other side, county park across the road and woods to the South. Just a 30 minute drive to Baraboo and the famous Wisconsin Dells entertainment and shopping. 45 minutes to Madison night life.

  • Had a wonderful stay at the cottage. We went to House on the Rock and Cave of the Mounds. We also enjoyed ice cream at Grab a Cone and got popcorn at Rural route. The property is beautiful and peaceful and very clean. Would go back again.

    Christopher2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a total gem. A peaceful, relaxing retreat in a lovely farm community. The house is spacious and the property is beautiful with a huge backyard to wander or let your pets explore. You’ve got everything you need at this cottage, whether you’re planning to stay in and kick back or venture out. We personally came into town to visit the House on the Rock and it was a quick, easy drive to and from. Such incredible value! And Lisa is an easygoing, helpful, generous, thoughtful host. She even had fresh fruit in the fridge for us for when we arrived!

  • This cabin was wonderful! It was so cozy and the property is beautiful. I would recommend this to everyone!

  • Dan and Loretta’s cabin was the perfect fall getaway (and one of the nicest AirBnB’s I’ve encountered). The cabin is beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable, with plenty of land to explore. It feels remote but is just a short drive from town. There are plenty of kitchen extras here (sugar, flour, spices, charcoal for the BBQ, etc.) but if you have forgotten something or can’t find something, Wal-mart is a short drive away. Be sure to grab some firewood in town and take advantage of the outdoor fire pit! Also, be on the lookout for wildlife - we saw deer and several wild turkeys meandering through the back yard. I highly recommend this place.

  • Great place as described. Immaculate. Great setting. Great views. Perfect setting near Spring Green (ATP), Taliesin, foodie spot in Viroqua. Loved it. Will return.

  • The cabin is clean, roomy and just very nice. Outdoor wraparound deck and the property is spacious and quiet. Enjoyed the fire pit, privacy and beautiful star-lit sky at night.

  • This house is breathtaking. We couldn’t help but be awestruck at the view and the house. It was incredibly clean and welcoming. We plan to revisit and highly recommend it to everyone.

  • This cabin was exactly what we wanted for our weekend getaway. It was quiet, comfortable and very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed and if you do forget something, Walmart is just 6-minutes away. We enjoyed the fire pit each night and were amazed by the star-filled sky. You really cannot go wrong here, we did not want to leave.

  • The cabin was secluded and cozy. The wood burning stove kept us warm when the temps got into the 30s at night, and we enjoyed the beautiful views the area had to offer in the morning. Sherri was a very thoughtful and hospitable host. She started the stove for us before we arrived, and gave us a wonderful tour of their family farm the next morning. The cabin is a great place to relax in nature and escape the busyness of life.

Cozy little A-Frame cabin located in the Driftless area of southwest Wisconsin. Very private, off a quiet country road nestled in a small valley. Just a few miles from the Wisconsin River, the quaint little town of Boscobel, and 45 minutes or less from Spring Green, Taliesin, House on the Rock, Mineral Point, Dodgeville, Platteville, Mt. Horeb, and Richland Center. It is ideal for couples or families who want a comfortable, private place to escape the city and spend some time in nature.
The cottage is right over a small bridge, which crosses a (usually) dry creek bed. It lies in a two-acre valley, with another 9 acres up a steep wooded ridge behind it. The immediate area is a combination of year-round farms and little weekend cabins. While it is just off a paved road and we do have neighbors tucked among the hills, it feels private and secluded. The cottage has all the amenities you will need to be comfortable, including forced-air electric heat, air conditioning, cozy bed linens, a full bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of seating and storage. The bedrooms are upstairs and each has its own private balcony. There is a futon-style couch in the living room that can accommodate 2 small children or one adult.
The cottages are located in the Driftless Area of Wisconsin, in the southwest corner of the state. The area is full of high rolling hills, valleys, streams and rivers. It is about 8 miles to the Wisconsin River, and less than an hour to the Mississippi River. There are lots of things to do outdoors, including hunting, fishing, biking and hiking, and also quite a few cultural attractions. The towns of Spring Green, Richland Center, and Mineral Point are all between 30-45 minutes away. The town of Boscobel is about 15 minutes away, and has a grocery and hardware store, restaurants, a movie theater and canoe rentals for trips on the Wisconsin River. While there are plenty of things to do and see, it is also a perfect spot for a quiet weekend, in a place that truly feels away from it all. Listen for the coyotes yipping in the distance, tree frogs and wild turkeys in the woods, whippoorwills after dusk, and great horned owls hooting to each other under the stars. On a clear night you can see the Milky Way!

Welcome to our home: where we have found peace and relaxation for over 20 years. A German native, Big R fell in love with the open land and rolling hills of Wisconsin, becoming a US citizen in the 80s. He met Curly, a Chicago city girl, who brought a little city to his country life. They enjoy raising buffalo and spending warmer days on their porch enjoying the fresh air and beautiful views (with no mosquitos!). Now they want to share their idyllic and peaceful home with you. Drive down a dead-end road and pull up to a rustic cabin filled with high-tech and cozy amenities. We have something for everyone with a gas fireplace, tv (complete with dish, Cinemax, HBO and a Bluetooth sound system), board games and a full kitchen. Take a drink outside to soak in the hot tub or sit around the campfire. When the day is done, you will fall asleep instantly on the memory foam bed, either in the loft or the bedroom, and wake up to a beautiful sunrise looking out over your little getaway.

If you would like the amenities of home while on a short or long stay, then consider The Den. It has a patio, tables & chairs, charcoal grill, fire pit area, living room with a sofa sleeper, dvd player & movies only, WiFi, full kitchen, full size bed, bathroom with washer and dryer. Sit back and listen to the country sounds. Ask about stays that are a month or longer.
The Den has a western décor. It is cozy and affordable for up to four people. Why stay in a hotel when you can bring your food and enjoy some time in the beautiful country of southwest Wisconsin. Books and games are in The Den for your use. Bikers welcome. Towels and linens are provided. Full Kitchen with utensils and cookware. The Den is located below The Driftless Lodge.
Our neighborhood offers a lot to see and do. It has some very nice restaurants too. There is a golf course a mile away and disc golf 5.5 miles. Trout streams and the Wisconsin River are near. We have a snowmobile trail that goes thru our property. Check out our guidebook. Some of the information is on there. There is information in the Den for you to look at when you arrive.
  • It's out of town, so it has a country well. If you prefer non-chlorinated tap water, it's great! It's really out in the middle of nowhere, so if you're looking for some peace and quiet, it's great. We were there during the winter, so we weren't able to enjoy the farm stuff, but it was okay with us to just stay in and watch movies or use our phones. Wi-Fi is included, but there is a strong signal from Verizon Wireless, so I didn't really use it. There are actually two beds. There's one in the bedroom, and the couch has a hide-a-bed. While we were there, the temperature outside was extremely cold, but the heat worked just fine. The water pipes froze one morning, but they were thawed out about an hour after I let her know. The water pressure seemed a bit lower than what I'm used to, but maybe that's just me.

Quiet, remote rural setting. Perfect place to relax for a weekend. Outstanding views, highest point around. Has hookup for RV electricity.
Small towns with historic downtowns, ponds and the Wisconsin river as well as world class trout streams for fishing. Some of the best 4th of July fireworks and other holiday parades.
  • We love coming to visit here and this place is awesome! It is our little home away from home, and we have never been disappointed! The electricity went out during our stay and Ryan went above and beyond to ensure that we were taken care of, even though it was completely out of his control! We have stayed in numerous air bnb's and none of them can compete with Ryan and his families hospitality! They truly make us feel at home! The kitchen is easy to cook a meal in and has everything you’d need for simple meals. The beds are comfortable and the location remote and peaceful. We look forward to staying there again very soon!

  • We loved our stay here! It was very peaceful, beautiful, and private.

  • The second year in a row we’ve enjoyed this little slice of solitude! We love this place and Tracey’s thoughtful hospitality.

  • I loved my stay at Steiner Hollow Farmhouse! It was just what I needed to unplug, recharge and reconnect with nature. The property and surrounding landscape is so beautiful and peaceful. The farmhouse is cozy, comfortable, and clean. I really enjoyed walking around the property out in the brisk winter air and then coming in and making a fire in the woodstove and sipping tea while reading a book on the comfy sofa. I also loved that I was able to watch several deer from the farmhouse windows. The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking. There are many nice touches such as books and games. The decor is lovely. I could go on and on. It's a great place! Thanks Tracey!

  • This home is charming, comfortable and cozy. The location is beautiful - even in the dead of winter I was amazed by the starry sky and beauty of the woods. I’d highly recommend for anyone looking to get away. One note: it’s very remote - no WiFi or cell service - which made it lovely for an unplugged weekend.

    Elizabeth2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The place is amazing. Everything was better than expected. We had a wonderful family time. Just remember that you are not going to have cell phone reception or internet connection or even a TV - some times it is exactly what you want. The house provides you with several table games and books. But if you need to do some work from there, you have to drive 1 mile or so up hill to get your cell phone working. Highly recommended!

    Rodrigo2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to get away and simply enjoy yourself and the scenery around you! We loved it.

    Aric2019-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely gorgeous home. Every detail is beautiful. I was able to cook a full Thanksgiving meal here. Though I brought my own pots, pans, utensils due to the complexity of the meal, the kitchen is very well equipped for standard cooking. Though the oven is small it was wonderful to cook with. The living spaces and bedroom were incredibly comfortable and so stylish. The bathroom was great as well and I enjoyed the clawfoot tub. We knew there would be no WiFi or cell service, so we enjoyed some time off grid, but be aware you will be disconnected here. Plenty of books at the house to keep you entertained. Really enjoyed spending time in Viroqua 30 minutes away as well as closer local spots.

  • Nice little place for a small group of 2 or 3. Plenty of information left by owners about the town and upstairs tenants. Upstairs floors make noise when tenants walk around. Didn't bother us except for our last night there when we were trying to go to sleep early. Overall a great place to stay, close to a supermarket, restaurant and other amenities.

  • I've found my new home away from home in Spring Green. I come up every year for a weekend at APT, and I've struggled to find a good place to stay. Spring Green has lots of doily-covered B&Bs that serve breakfast at 7 a.m., lots of dusty old motels that use the Frank Lloyd Wright influence as an excuse never to update anything, and one overpriced (and equally dusty) resort. But this place is modern and clean, and it's right in the heart of downtown Spring Green, just steps away from the shops and restaurants. Parking is easy, check-in is smooth, and the decor is unique and interesting. Highly recommended!

    Ashley2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tucked in the heart of downtown, you can walk to coffee, shopping, dining and the farmers market right from the front door. Big fridge, hot water, plenty of towels. The queen size bed is very comfortable and they offer outlets and charging ports at the bedside. Good ceiling fans and a quiet location made for great sleep. If you’re coming into town for APT or Taliesin, you’re super close. We hope to stay here again!

    Aaron2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect location in downtown Spring Green. Spectacularly clean and all the right amenities fit perfectly into the space. This is a gem you’ll enjoy staying in. Thanks to Shawn and his family for a great stay.

  • This is probably the best Airbnb location in Spring Green. The unit is perfectly clean, charming, comfortable and has everything you need. The hosts were exceptionally responsive to the few minor requests we had. I would recommend their Airbnb to anyone looking for a spot in Spring Green. We were lucky to get a reservation--I'm sure it's a very popular space.

  • Dede and Aaron where great hosts. They were quick to respond to our one question. Their place was wonderful, much larger than we expected and well furnished with all that we needed. We love the quiet neighborhood and friendly community. We enjoyed checking out the sights of Taliesin and House on the Rock. Being a Monday and Tuesday we were disappointed that many of the local restaurants were closed but we did enjoy dinner at the Wisconsin Riverside Resort.

  • This small but ample guest suite is clean and attractive and well-appointed. Its location in the heart of Spring Green and within walking distance of the quaint little town was perfect. And, it's just a few miles from the House on the Rock and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. Spring Green is a lovely and friendly town, with good restaurants and shopping. Dede and her family are friendly and welcoming, and their sweet dog and cat were a nice addition to our sense of feeling right at home.

  • Aaron's place is cute and cozy. The location is perfectly convenient whether you're there for House on the Rock, Frank Lloyd Wright, or any number of things within a small drive. The place is clean and comfy and blocks from an awesome dog park if you bring your dog. Aaron was incredibly responsive with any questions and easy to work with. We'll happily come back!

This historic jewel box suite designed by "the pencil in Mr. Wright's hand," boasts exclusive views of Taliesin, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. "Beyond the Functional - into the Poetic," reads the 1959 House Beautiful description of Inwood, designed and built by Taliesin apprentice John Howe. Perched high on a rugged hill, this remote and serene space delights guests with its classic organic architecture, modern amenities and location. Come feel the magic of the Driftless Region.
This classic mid-century two bedroom/one bath guest suite will take your breath away. With its unparalleled, sweeping views and gorgeous architectural detail, guests are sure to love overlooking the Taliesin estate in the valley far below. Guests will enjoy their own spacious 1300 sq. ft. suite with a private exterior entrance. This unique guest suite is attached to host's home with a locked interior door to ensure utmost privacy and comfort. Step up into cozy bedroom #1 with its woodland, courtyard and waterfall views. Step down through a narrow stone stairwell into the Master bedroom with unforgettable views. Fabulous interior architectural elements throughout the home will delight the most discerning guests. Your guest suite is furnished throughout with an eclectic mix of modern style mixed with mid-century Frank Lloyd Wright designed furnishings. Entry through the exterior entrance requires good balance and mobility as guests must navigate a stone bridge and stone steps without any hand rails to reach the entry door. As is typical in Frank Lloyd Wright style homes, ceiling heights vary throughout. If you are tall and forget to stoop now and again when moving through the interior space, be forewarned. You will bump your head. The stone stairwell needed to access the lower of the two bedrooms is narrow, about 2 feet wide. The cottage was built in 1953 with an apprentice wing for visiting Taliesin apprentices added in the mid-sixties. The building techniques used at the time could best be described as experimental. Inwood's design was dictated by the landscape. It is perfectly sited in a natural, rustic, rural environment. It is a limit pushing sanctuary for city dwellers. Complex and serene, rustic yet elegant, Inwood requires an adventurous spirit. To reach your private deck, guests must carefully navigate natural limestone steps up the hill above the home. The views are incredible and there is seating for four. While one does not need to be an athlete to enjoy the property, it helps to be sure of foot and reasonably fit. Inwood is not commercial. It was not designed for public access or tours, nor is it a tourist attraction. Rather, It is a private midcentury home, designed by a renowned architect that is now available for guests to enjoy. It is the only home that overlooks Taliesin, located directly across the valley. It is built directly into a hillside, deep in the woods. It is built on rock and surrounded by rocks. The landscape is rugged. Exterior lighting is very limited. One cannot access any part of the home without having to climb up and down natural and uneven rock steps without any handrails. This minimizes access and maximizes privacy as was the architect's intent. All of these factors are purposeful so as to maintain the organic architectural integrity of the space. If you have mobility challenges such as difficulty climbing uneven steps without hand rails, this will not be your best vacation option. If living in the woods is scary to you, please book elsewhere. Do carefully consider all of these factors before booking. The space has a small kitchenette that includes a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and tea kettle with service for 4. There is no ice maker. If you want ice, you will need to bring it in your own cooler. There is no stove. There is no oven. There is no dishwasher. There is a propane grill outside. The space has a portable air conditioner that along with fans for air circulation, keeps the space cool during the summer. Due to the architectural details, ceiling/roof lines and age of the structure, there is no duct work in the unit. Guests have reported satisfaction with the portable heating and cooling systems in place. Your suite is surrounded by expansive grounds and woods ensuring utmost privacy. The suite's unique open floor plan consists of the entire original mid-century Howe designed cottage, called by some a "jewel box." Host's 1/2 mile-long winding, uphill driveway connects to a rural county road that will take you to a biking/hiking trail. Walk along the paved trail adjacent to State Highway 23 to the Visitor Center where Taliesin tours begin. Enjoy spectacular scenery along the route, including Unity Chapel, organically farmed fields and the Taliesin estate. There is a secondary vacation rental on site attached to host's home, however, there are no shared walls with this separate guest suite. Each suite has its own private outdoor deck/patio. It is not uncommon for both spaces to be rented. If you want absolute privacy you can rent the entire home. Please check out host's other listing for this opportunity. The home sits on approximately 10 acres of a wooded hillside. Pets are not allowed. Children can get lost. Host's 10 acres adjoins hundreds of acres of other privately owned woods and prairie. Tree frogs may sing you to sleep. Coyotes may howl at the moon in the middle of the night. You will waken to lively bird songs. You will likely not want to leave and wish you had planned for a longer stay.
Inwood offers exceptional privacy while centrally and conveniently located near area attractions. Enjoy a short, scenic 5 minute drive to the Visitor's Center where Taliesin tours begin. American Player's Theater, a preeminent Regional Theater, is a quick 2.5 mile drive. The Village of Spring Green is an easy 10 minute drive from your front door. Eco-tourism and geo-tourism related to the natural gifts of the surrounding Driftless Region are becoming increasingly popular. Wisconsin River recreation beckons from nearby Peck's Landing.

  • We came to Spring Green for a short, fall visit. We had great weather which made for a wonderful weekend. Tia gave us great tips for the area and we were able to enjoy the fresh air and spectacular views from the house. Lots of nature to be enjoyed - deer, eagles and a beautiful sunsets. The house was amazing and a great study in the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. Would recommend this place to others.

  • The house is an architectural gem and fits in wonderfully with the Taliesin story. The views and the house itself are spectacular. There is not a better location to be had if you are interested in touring Taliesin, attending a play at APT or walking through the House on the Rock. We enjoyed a wonderful three days in the area and would gladly stay here again if we come through the area.

  • The cottage and surrounding area are beautiful! Kids will enjoy plenty of books, games, or kicking about in the woods. Comfy, cozy bedrooms, and a nicely decorated communal space with a sweet deck and great view overlooking the creek in front of the cottage where wildlife abounds. Also a foosball table. You can’t go wrong if you stay here!

  • The place is beautiful and set back in the hills with a stream running just below the deck. The hospitality is great and the hosts were extremely welcoming and responsive. I think about 5 cars passed in the 5 days we stayed but it is only 15 min from a good sized town. Our trip was dedicated to hunting and this is a great centralized location to many public lands in good country. I would definitely recommend Kara and Tony's place to anyone.

    Tony2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • 8 of us and 2 dogs stayed at the cabin, and had a wonderful time. It’s a very clean, bright, and happy cabin, with cute little nods to nature in the decor. The scenery is beyond beautiful. We heard or saw many types of wildlife and the night sky is fantastic! The creek was great to explore. They had everything and more that we needed to make our stay comfortable and easy. We will definitely stay again! Thanks for the magical spot!

    Chrissy2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a place of respite from the outside world. A beautiful cottage nestled in the hills. We saw Amish buggies, bought fresh apples from nearby orchards and took a walk along the winding road past streams and woods. Cell phone service is often very weak but this is not a bad thing! Much to do in the area or stay at the cabin with a picnic lunch.Very relaxing indeed.

    Bethine2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The location was lovely. The pictures are accurately portrayed but I did not notice it was a Log Cabin! So awesome. Kara and Tony's attention to small details were noticed immediately. The couches, living room rug, and snuggle blankets were so cozy I want some of my own. We took our 5 and 2 yr old as well as our dog and everyone had the best time. I was amazed at the night sky and the sweet aroma of the area. No phones or electronics were just what my family needed to re-connect and hang out. We decided not to do too much sightseeing as the cabin offered so much comfort but we did take the family on a canoe trip down the Wisconsin river. With toddlers it was slightly scary and completely invigorating since neither adult had any experience. Don't hesitate! It's an awesome trip, well worth it. We cannot wait to visit again! My son called it the fancy cabin in the woods and it really was. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

    Sandra2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very authentic Wisconsin! The comfortable cabin, super peaceful location and beautiful surroundings made this the perfect spot for our long weekend away from the city. I would recommend it to friends and family who are looking for a similar rental.

    Molly2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Kara and Tony's place is a real gem! The cabin and its setting are gorgeous. We enjoyed coffee on the porch each morning, listening to the birds and brook babble, often seeing a doe and two fawns make there way along the edge of the yard. Our family of four were more than comfortable--plenty of room to spread out but the space also welcomed family game nights, movie nights, and campfires. The kids especially enjoyed the large trampoline! It was a bit of a conflict each day--stay and just enjoy being in the nice and relaxing space, or take part in the many nearby activities. We saw a play at American Players Theater (amazing), kayaked down the Kickapoo river, biked along the Sparta-Elroy trail, and just enjoyed driving around the local highways and roads. There is still a lot we wanted to do but didn't have time for--Kara and Tony leave a huge list of great ideas and insider tips. One of the biggest plusses for our family with two teenagers--NO INTERNET! Our kids read BOOKS and JOURNALED and explored the creek! We all had a fabulous time and wish we could back, and back again, and back yet again!

    Rachel2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed are visit to Kara and Tony's cabin. This was our first time using Airbnb and it could not have gone better. This was the perfect location for a family getaway. There were tons of books, games, and DVDs which the kids loved immensely! We had all of the comforts of home without the constant interruptions of chirping, ringing or buzzing phones. The foosball table in the basement was a fan favorite for us. Kara and Tony left a handy guide for local eateries and kitschy attractions as well as a sampling of their local favorites. We really loved the pickled green beans! This is a great place to unwind, unplug and connect with nature and your loved ones. We definitely plan to visit again!

Sandy had great recommendations for the area, and was so helpful throughout the trip. She gave us a tour of her property in the UTV, which was so cool. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

  • Sandy's place provided a clean and quiet retreat from which to base our travels in the area during the fall art tour. Everything was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the space nicely located and quiet. • The Chicakdee Cottage is a great place to stay when in the Richland Center area. The location is excellent with some privacy. The large open kitchen is an excellent spot for prepping meals and hanging out. There are plenty of bedrooms with clean and comfortable beds! The living room is nice, clean and homey with a lot of local touches - a nice overlook view. The smart TV gives you the option to download apps for streaming Netflix, Amazon, etc... Check-in and Check-out was very simple.

  • It’s a beautiful place with an amazing view! It feels like home. Very clean, very neat. Great people and very responsive if you ever need anything. We stay here every year for at least a week for our hunting vacation and it never disappoints! Lots of room for families and friends!

  • This home is so spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxed, laid back girls weekend (hello coffee bar, giant kitchen island, and cozy bedrooms!!). Being on top of a hill, the view was amazing and we even were lucky enough to be visited by a family of deer our first night there. Therese and Paul were great hosts, responded to our questions quickly, and had great suggestions for local attractions.

  • It’s an amazing home! Loved all space. Now that two of our children are grown getting together as a family is a challenge. As much as we enjoyed the location and activities in the area we equally enjoyed the time spent together just relaxing at the cottage. Hosts Therese and Paul have gone WAY beyond the extra mile here!

  • If I could give this place more stars I would! Therese and Paul were lovely hosts and created a lovely space. I’m so grateful they are willing to share their cottage with travelers - it was perfect for our family vacation. Plenty spacious and a HUGE kitchen, which was great for us because we cooked every night. Well stocked with everything one could need. It truly felt like a home away from home.

  • If you are looking for a place to stay in Richland Center, this is the place! Wonderful location and amazing amenities. My only complaint would be we couldn’t stay longer :)
