  • This home is a true gem and wonderfully upkept. Mike was responsive, reliable and did everything in his power to make sure I had a great stay. This house belongs in Architectural Digest. The highlights are the high ceilings, wrap around porch, amazing light and updated appliances in the kitchen. The bed was very comfortable, and Mike made me feel right at home. I highly recommend this property for anyone that is looking for a peaceful and fun mountain retreat.

  • I’ve rented dozens of cabins in western Maryland, this one was the most beautiful. Great location, great town, great cabin!

    Ricky2020-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Michael’s cabin is not only a beautiful home but a great getaway to get off the grid. Secluded and right next to the trails but not too far from town, we could not be happier with our stay. Michael was a great host who endeavored to ensure our stay was superb.

    Chris2020-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's place was a perfect getaway into some quiet nature. I spent most of my time reading books by the fire and tromping around among the trees. At night, the sky was dark and starry and cold and perfect for sitting out on the porch with a hot chocolate.

  • Absolutely wonderful visit! House was beautiful, clean and cozy. Great amount of space for our family of four. Grounds were terrific - loved the fire pit and the backyard hike. And location was perfect - close enough to amenities like grocery stores etc but also to many state parks, sites, etc. Best of all Michael was so responsive to every question and need. Would absolutely stay again

  • Peaceful mountain retreat with comfortable indoor space and beautiful outdoor area. Great way to spend a long weekend with friends. Mike was a great host. 👍

    Jens2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Mike was a thoughtful host who was great at communication, providing recommendations, and the house was stocked with all the extra things you don’t think of when renting a house, the hospitality was terrific. From my experience with Airbnb and rentals, Mike goes above and beyond in “customer service” and making his guests feel welcome. The house is a beautiful getaway, just as pictured, in a remote (but not too remote) location, it’s very quiet and peaceful. The house very comfortable - spacious and modern amenities, yet has a beautiful rustic cabin vibe. Thanks mike for a great weekend!

Relax and escape to the peace and quiet by the Potomac river, and wake to beautiful romantic views of the river and mountains, in this romantic 200 square foot tiny house situated on 2.5 acres, 450 feet of river front land. Explore and partake of all the activities on the river and surrounding area, just 1 mile from Shepherdstown. Fish, bike, kayak, tube, or just sit by the river and watch the birds and wild life. Read by the river or in the quiet comfort of the house, w/ some wine on us.
This is a 1940s refurbished fisherman's cabin. It was likely built in or about 1942 as the original electric fixtures are from that date, we had to modernize them though as they don't meet current code. It is very likely that the structure was built to replace an older wooden structure in the same location. There is electricity but no running water, water dispenser is provided. NOTE that the bathroom is a pit outhouse located nearby. On the west side of the 200square foot room, you will find a very comfortable Queen sized bed with CertiPUR foam mattress and lots of pillows. There are several blankets. At the foot is a WWII mail crate restored and converted to a trunk that was found in the tiny house, used to store extra linens and blankets. Above the headboard is a fantastic decorative shelf made from river maple that fell by the river in front of the building. Right in front of the bed is a window affording great views of the river. On the east side of the building is the sitting area with kitchen cabinets. The counter is made from old reclaimed barn door complete with the clasp. The shelves above are from the from of the barn door complete with hinges. Equipped with utensils, a microwave, dorm fridge, and crock water dispenser. A table for two in front of another river facing window. Outside is a small porch with two comfortable chairs and BBQ, that has a commanding view of the river. The cabin and this sitting area are nestled back into the wooded hillside loved by a plethora of songbirds and woodpeckers. To the East of the porch is a small three seasons outdoor shower and sink. The shower is fed by cold water but has a 5.5 gallon solar warming tank attached (long showers will get cold). NOTE that we will be shutting off the outdoor shower before the first frost. Home sits on 2.5 acres adjacent to the Potomac river with C&O national historical park across the river. This section of the river is usually shallow and often can be walked across, near Packhorse Ford. Between the property and Shepherdstown is the historic battlefield of Shepherdstown with walking path and markers. Nestled to the other side of the tiny house is the very clean and comfortable pit toilet (out house). It is in the original location but all rebuilt with modern seat and plenty of privacy, well vented and stocked with hand sanitizer.l
The home is a short bike ride or drive to historic downtown Shepherdstown. You will go by some historic ruins and Shepherdstown Battlefield, on the way by Packhorse Ford. Close to NCTC, Antietam, C&O canal and Harpers Ferry.
  • This is a fantastic spot in a really unique location. It's rustic as described, yet has everything you need and is full of charm. Highly recommend!

  • Great spot to get away from it all. Secluded and not too far away. The fire pit at night especially came in handy. Right off the river. We had a really good time. Very peaceful.

  • This airbnb was basically exactly as advertised! Cute, quaint house and the location was lovely. Amenities seemed to have been well thought out ahead of time by the hosts and were well accommodated for. Outhouse very clean though be aware there are some spiders, as one could expect with an outhouse.

  • Perfect tiny little place for a short get away. We were trying to breathe some fresh air away from the city in these weird times of pandemic and that was perfect. The weather was not great but we enjoyed playing the Baby Boomer edition of Trivial Pursuit!

  • Yocencia was such a lovely host! She responded extremely fast to our questions and made sure the house was stocked with anything we might need along with some cute touches. The views of the river were beautiful! We loved spending time outside by the firepit. If you’re thinking about staying here I recommend it! As soon as I saw this place I knew I would love it and my expectations were not let down at all!

Peaceful countryside surrounds you with woods, streams, and pasture. The restored farmhouse has loads of room and porches where you can soak in a sunrise and a sunset. Birders paradise! Harper's Ferry, Frederick, Shepherdstown offer loads of fun and history. Two other houses, and a re-purposed Dairy Parlor are available for retreats too. Your stay supports farm programs that we offer children and adults from low income communities, people suffering with PTSD, and other life challenges.
Spring House is a part of Fox Haven - a historic organic farm and non-profit ecological education center located along the Catoctin Creek in Jefferson, Maryland, within one hour of Washington D.C. and 15 minutes from the charming town of Frederick, MD. The restored farmhouse is in a tranquil location, surrounded by fields, forests, and trails. Wide-planked wooden floors, found treasures from the farmland and creek, beds piled high with handmade quilts, and porches with views that immediately lower your blood pressure and make you sigh, “aah” create a haven for a weekend getaway, family vacation, working retreat, and learning adventure. - 1 bedroom with queen bed and full sized futon - 1 bedroom with double bed and 2 twin beds - 1 bedroom with 3 twin beds - 1 bedroom with 4 twin beds - 1 downstairs room with double futon Full kitchen with dishwasher Half bath on first floor, 2 full baths and washer/dryer on second floor. When you want to explore beyond the farm, lovely downtown Frederick offers a variety of shops, award winning restaurants, parks, performing arts theaters, Frederick Keys minor league baseball, and free concerts during the summer months. Jefferson, I dare say, has one of the best pastry shops within 100 miles. Let the sweet smell of homemade donuts and cakes guide you! Harper’s Ferry, Antietam, Sharpsburg, and even Gettysburg are all within a 20-50 minute drive for those who relish civil war history. For the adventurer in you, take a rafting or tubing trip down the Shenandoah or Potomac Rivers, or head up to Annapolis Rocks for a climb, or even hike a section of the Appalachian Trail – all within 20-30 minutes of the farm. There are several wineries and ciders within 10-40 minutes of the farm that give tours and tastings regularly, as well as breweries that create some tasty beer. We take extra care in disinfecting all surfaces and linens when we clean.
Spring House is surrounded by fields, woods, and streams. Wildlife abounds! The Catoctin Nature Center, Appalachian Trail, Harper's Ferry, the wonderful town of Frederick with loads of fine restaurants, shops, galleries, museums, live entertainment is a 15 minute drive away, and Brunswick provides easy access to the C&O canal towpath for bike riding. So much to do! Jefferson itself has a delightful diner full of local character, an ice cream and sandwich shop, Hemp's meats (all local and delicious), and the Jefferson pastry shop to fill your belly.
  • This place was such a nice farmhouse get away from the DC metro area. There were plenty of rolling hills around it and cows in the area that you could get close to. Our children really enjoyed this. We would recommend this farmhouse to anyone.

  • A picturesque location with a wonderfully warm farmhouse feel. JoAnn is an excellent host with quick responses to all questions.

  • My family and I can't say enough wonderful things about the Fox Haven Spring House and working with JoAnn. We were looking for a cozy winter venue to throw a small baby shower (20 guests) and also have family stay for the weekend (8 guests). I was really wanting a baby shower that would feel cozy, intimate, and rustic -- and boy did the Spring House fit the bill. The house is large with enough seating for many guests, but has such a historic charm and warmth. All the decorative touches feel so authentic, from the quilts on the beds to the wooden carvings on the mantle place. Also, if you are interested in having a large group (I believe the house allows 16 guests total overnight) the Spring House has about any dish/food prep item in the pantry that you could ever need. We came so over-prepared with utensils, dishes, cooking implements, etc. to make food for the baby shower and we used almost none of it. In the huge pantry, there are mugs, glasses, dishes, serving trays, skillets, utensils - even a warming tray for keeping things hot. The stove, dishwasher, coffee maker, tea pot, fridge all worked perfectly. We REALLY appreciated all this as we prepared to host a gathering. The house is in a peaceful, remote area of the countryside and there are friendly cows on the property as well. If you're looking for a country getaway, this is it. Frederick is close by and has adorable shops and restaurants to experience as well. Few things to note -- make sure you really want a country experience. There is Wi-fi, which worked great, but no TV (who wants that anyway?). You may see the occasional spider, but that didn't bother us. The fireplaces are only decorative, but there is a great wood stove that helped keep us warm. There is central heating, which is kept at 65 degrees during the winter. During our stay, we ran out of wood for the stove and JoAnn was great about getting Taylor over to replenish it. She also allowed us to turn up the heat by a few degrees, since it was a cold weekend. Working with JoAnn in general was wonderful - she was so quick to answer all my detailed questions (throwing a baby shower is stressful!) Also, keep in mind that your stay will help Fox Haven support their wonderful non-profit programs, which you can learn more about on the website. Overall, we had the best stay and my family all agreed that we're so grateful for the memories we made this weekend. We're already talking about a return trip! Thanks to JoAnn and Fox Haven for making our weekend and baby shower such a special memory.

Sit on the covered porch, relax by the fire-pit and eat on the back patio – or if it’s cold outside, enjoy the wood stove!
Covid-19 note: We are using extra cleaning and disinfecting procedures due to the current situation. You may notice cleaning solution odors during your stay. We will try to keep this to a minimum, but your safety is our first priority. Be sure to check out our mid-week specials! There’s room for 9 people to sleep comfortably. There are two queen beds, two trundle beds (two twin beds with pull-out extra mattresses). Someone could also sleep on the comfortable sofa in the living room. The house has two full bathrooms. The main door to the cabin is further around the porch. For skiers, there is a ski rack and boot dryers. You can hop right in the shower from there to warm up! You can see from our reviews that the place stays clean, but please be aware that the cabin is impacted by the location so you may see some cosmetic impacts. CORONA VIRUS NOTE: We are taking extra precautions with cleaning. You may notice a slight smell from harsher cleaning chemicals. Sorry about that! Please let us know if you have any concerns.

  • Tony's cabin was a great escape from the city in this quarenteen life. We drove out to get away from our apartment and couldn't have been happier. The pantry is fully stocked with extra cleaning supplies and the neighbors can't be seen from the property. The place is super close to the national park for some great early morning hiking and I really enjoyed grilling out in the evenings. The cell service is good enough that I was able to use my phone as a hot spot and take video calls for work during the day.

  • Honestly, one of the best places I've stayed. Just a solid getaway at a cool cabin in the woods. Gave me so much nostalgia. Kids loved it as well.

    Marketa2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Overall a great stay! Peaceful surrounding woods and once you're off the property, the farms are absolutely beautiful. The cabin had just about everything you could need for a comfortable stay. While there is no cable tv, there is a 4G wifi hotspot that we used to stream tv but it was a little difficult. The surrounding Catoctin hiking trails were beautiful, and if you feel like venturing out a little, the South Mountain State Park trails have even better views. Tony was very attentive and answered all of my questions.

  • Beautiful cabin! Clean and comfortable. We had a great weekend with our kids and dogs. Our daughter loved playing outside and exploring the woods and it was wonderful to have a weekend out of the city.

    Kellen2020-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great getaway! You feel like you're far away from the hustle and bustle but still actually close to places in case you need something!

    Ashley2020-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great log cabin in the woods! My husband and I enjoyed waking up to the sounds of birds, and hearing the cows moo from down the road.. so peaceful! We took full advantage of the grill and firepit. Our dogs also had a blast with all of the space to explore! The fort in the backyard is so cool.

    Joyse2020-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • After extending our stay several times, we began to think of this sweet cabin in the woods as a second home and were so sad to leave. My daughter and I hung out and plated in the woods behind the cabin almost every day, and the dogs were in heaven every second we were there. Hiking at Catoctin Mountain Park on my birthday was amazing, and it was so good to be outside in nature while maintaining social distancing.

Within 500 feet, you'll find a Starbucks, Volt (of famed Bryan Voltaggio), Cakes to Die For, Pretzel & Pizza Creations, Firestone's Culinary Tavern, and more. Baker Park is 4 blocks (.4 miles) away. • Pros: Amazing location, easy check-in, cute space, comfortable bed, very clean, private entry, parking space, everything you could want is within walking distance. Cons: It is a renovated basement, so you can hear noises from the rest of the house. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and would stay here again.

  • This is a perfect spot from which to explore downtown Frederick. Very clean and comfy apartment with everything you need and Julia was very good with instructions and local tips. Being a basement unit, there is some noise from above but not too bad. Garbage trucks in the morning are another issue... That said, we still want to go there again for a longer stay next time and explore more of Frederick’s rich history.

    Jackie2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Glen & Julia were amazing! The location was perfect, everything is within walking distance of the two main streets in downtown Frederick. Their place is spotless and extremely comfortable. Any question I had they responded extremely quickly, and also had nice touches around the suite to help guide you to some cool places in Frederick. I honestly could go on and on about how hospitable Glen & Julia were! A friend of mine lives in Frederick, and this will always be my air b&b when I come to visit!

  • The Jewel Vinsota Artist's Guesthouse is a special place. We have traveled to many Airbnbs over the past 4 years and this is truly one to remember. Just the getaway we needed to unwind and reconnect with nature! This would be the perfect spot to set up a canvass, work on your novel, or enjoy a quiet retreat. The house is very comfortable with lots of personal touches. We cooked and ate all our meals in and had no trouble thanks to the well-stocked kitchen. The shower runs hot with great water pressure and the wifi is strong. The trail on the property is fun to explore with lots of spots to sit, relax, and reflect.

  • This is an amazing place. We wished we'd planned to stay longer, but we will be back! It's hard to describe the blend of enchanting strangeness and comforting homey-ness they've managed to create within this space. We've probably stayed in a dozen cabin-y get-a-ways in easy driving distance from DC/Bmore, and this is hands-down the best experience we've had yet.

    Andy2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very cool little getaway. Pet friendly with a very cute artistic vibe. Secluded and private but still close to amenities. Would go again.

  • This was our third stay; it’s become our go-to spot when we want a quick getaway from DC. It is on a quiet street and is a short drive to Harpers Ferry. We enjoy taking our dog to the trails and then enjoying some craft beer at Harpers Ferry Brewing — a great dog-friendly brewery with beautiful, panoramic views. Highly recommend!

  • Quaint and perfect for anyone not planning to spend tons of time at the AirBNB. It was clean, had all the amenities for coffee and washing up. It was exactly what I needed, a place to relax after a long day out.

    Ellie2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is our second time staying at Nancy’s & we loved it as much as the first time. Check in was quick and easy, the apartment was sparkling clean, and there were a ton of personal touches and local tips. We had a great time relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet. It’s the perfect spot for a getaway!

    Joanne2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second time this year staying at Nancy's place. It was a clean, welcoming and quiet. She was kind enough to allow my father and I to both bring our dogs. It was such a nice location to reach a lot of little towns and explore Antietam. We love the feeling of stepping back in time in Burkittsville. Getting the key is super easy with the lock box on the door. The extra cot that she put in the room was a full size bed and incredibly comfortable. Way more than I was expecting! There are towels for the dogs. Lots of suggestions for things to do around town. And tons of little touches that just make it feel like home. Nancy left us extra bottled water since there was something going on with the plumbing which we never even noticed. Cannot recommend this place highly enough!

    Amanda2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect place to stay while in town for a wedding- quiet and very clean. There were so many amenities and thoughtful touches- we felt very well taken care of!

    Becca2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing apartment and stay. Nancy’s place is the cleanest airbnb we ever stayed at. It’s so warm and inviting, very thoughtfully and stylishly decorated. We felt at home with the comfortable bed, comfortable, the very soft and high quality extra towels and all the basics available for a convenient stay. The place was quiet. We appreciated the simple check in and check out. Nancy is a fantastic host and extra points for accommodating our well behaved dog.

  • So I bought my friend a stay at Justin's place for his birthday and he had a great time. He was Justin's first Airbnb guest so there were a few details that needed to be ironed out. That being said, the space is nicely appointed and very clean. Also a very good value considering you have your own private mini apartment. I'm sure that future guests will benefit from the suggestions we left with Justin. A strong recommendation for Justin's place.

Walk across the foot bridge to serenity along Middle Creek, nestled between South Mountain State Park & Gambrill State Park, lies a beautiful & relaxed 9-acre private cabin retreat. An amazing place to unwind, de-stress & get away from it all. Let the sound of the creek or rain on the tin porch roof put you to sleep. It has all the essentials of home. Enjoy the fire pit on cool evenings or take a dip in the stream on a warm day. The property provides a perfect peaceful or romantic setting.
The first floor of the cabin features a fully furnished kitchen, living room with smart TV, and bath with shower. French doors open to a large covered porch. The second floor offers a queen sized bed, a day bed with a trundle, a TV/DVD player and reading nook. Step outside and be surrounded by nature. Sit and listen to the peaceful stream or watch the wildlife play. For the anglers, the cabin fronts Middle Creek, a well stocked stream with Rainbow, Brook and Golden Trout. Bring your gear! If you're more into water sports, there are outfitters close by ready to take you on the Potomac or Monocacy rivers. For the golfers, there are several championship golf courses within 15 miles with the closest being 5 miles away. It is centrally located to several parks. The cabin is about 3 miles from the Gambrill State Park trail head which features over 16 miles of trails for hikers, bikers and horseback riders. Greenbrier State Park is 6 miles away and the Appalachian Trail, with several close locations for rock climbing. Cunningham Falls State Park is 7 miles away, with its stunning waterfall. The area is rich in history. The Monocacy and Antietam Battlefields are 12 miles away; Harpers Ferry National Park is 18 miles away; and Gettysburg is 25 miles away. We are approximately one easy hour drive from Washington DC, Leesburg, and Baltimore. If you're looking for a pleasant day out, you can visit beautiful downtown Frederick, Shepherdstown, Funkstown, Boonsboro, or Gettysburg. Like antiques? There are dozens of places to shop! Maybe you just want some peace and quiet. You can find as much of that as you'd like in the cabin on Middle Creek.
The best part about this cabin is you feel like your a million miles away, yet close to everything you could possibly want.
  • BRING BOOTS. The land around the cabin is somewhat marshy and at all times during our trip was waterlogged. Do not wear shoes you do not intend to get muddy or wet here. Otherwise the cabin was just as described, clean, and very peaceful. There is a road right next to the cabin that you do hear occasional traffic from, and there were some shards of glass in different spots (probably not to the knowledge of the owner who was nothing but helpful and kind, but still), so with those two details we weren't completely removed from civilization as desired, but the scenery was lovely and relaxing nonetheless. A couple restaurants were open and offering pickup within 15 minutes of the cabin, and Weis market nearby delivered some groceries for the ultimate in quarantine ease.

  • Mark's place was excellent. The place was cleaned thoroughly and our boy's loved running around the yard, trip trapping across the bridge, talking to Lucy, and throwing rocks in the creek. It was a great experience.

  • This place was a perfect little getaway. It’s charm and authenticity make it a special destination location. The two goats that inhabit the property give it that extra unforgettable touch. • House has everything you could need while still being a cozy cabin. My gf and I were just looking for a weekend to get away and this place was perfect. Plenty of great hiking spots right out the back door and the property provides plenty of privacy with an incredible view especially when watching the sunset!

  • Little Lodge is a perfect weekend escape. We’ve been twice and will keep coming back. Hiking, quiet and cozy nights by the fire, quaint dinners in Boonsboro or Shepherdstown. Perfect!

  • Our family had such a fun and memorable winter visit to this lovely cabin that we are sure to come again. It was cozy, clean, private and had everything we needed. The outdoor access on the property was wonderful, as was the chance to chop our own firewood for the wood stove. We even got to watch the game on the big TV. Our two boys loved sleeping in the cozy loft. If you have very little kids, you’ll want to be wary of the steep steps up to the loft. There were stink bugs and lady bugs (dead and alive) all around, but we were in a rustic cabin in the mountains, so it didn’t bother us a bit. We loved the house so much that we never left to explore all the surrounding attractions, so we’ll save that for next time. The host was so responsive and accommodating. Thank you!

  • Beautiful home that felt very secluded, but close to various locations. Great place to get away and unwind.

  • The little lodge is beautiful and very classy. The Christmas tree was a nice, unexpected touch to end the holiday season with. Mike is an excellent, accommodating, and thoughtful host. Thank you for the experience!

  • Everything was so very lovely! Such a peaceful, beautiful, cozy place. The decor details and structure itself were like something straight out of a better homes and gardens magazine or Magnolia decorating show. Absolutely loved the gas woodstove, the plush and comfortable bed mattress, the linens soft as butter, fluffy towels, gorgeous beams and loft, and all of the cute decorative touches. Everything we needed was provided, and so close to the town center with a few really great restaurants and pretty golf course. Thank you again!

  • The cabin is a gem. Its in a great location, we enjoyed the quiet of Middletown, hikes, and Frederick as well! The cabin was amazing, it was lovely and cozy, we spend a lot of time inside just enjoying the cozy cabin with the thoughtful touches everywhere. It was so relaxing and wonderful.

    Liana2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a unique stay with a feel of the past. Despite our stay in February, we were cozy with the gas stove and tons of blankets! Very clean, good bathroom, nice space overall. In a neighborhood, but you can pretend it’s more remote from the interior, and it’s close to lots of restaurants and shops/groceries. My family enjoyed the feel of being in an historic space for an overnight. We used the insta bed to sleep all of us, and that was quite easy. Fun stay in the past!

This is the perfect place to stay while visiting this historic and interesting area! This is the ideal starting point for family functions, weekend getaways or sporting events in this region. We're close to State and National Parks, trails, sight seeing and more. We are bicycle friendly, we have private parking off the street. We are two and a half miles from the Appalachian Trail; less than 5 miles from the Red Heifer Winery, less than 10 miles to Hagerstown.

  • If your are fortunate to stay with Elisa, you will forget everything you know about AirBnB's.. The craftsman space was inspirational. The attention to detail was astounding. The Easter breakfast was 100% gourmet. We loved the spot and the amazing architecture that is her home. We cooked burgers on the grill and the fire in the fire pit was so inspiring. We saw stars we hadn't seen in years. We wish her much success. She has raised our expectations for Airbnb's. We will be back. Peace.

We offer a guest suite on the lower level of our house, with private entry, 10 minutes from historic Frederick. The suite's access is from a terrace, overlooking a wooded hillside, with a fire pit, grill, table & chairs. The suite has a bedroom, bath, laundry, and a family room with a fireplace. The suite includes a mini-fridge, coffeemaker, microwave, and dining area. Nearby attractions include several state parks, the Appalachian Trail, and wineries in the Middletown valley.
The suite is located in a ground floor walkout, with full west-facing windows, and a private entrance, below the main level of the house. We live on the upper level with separate access. The guest suite has its own climate control. You'll enjoy our terrace and fire pit, hammock, grill, and seating for a small group with a view of the sunsets over South Mountain. The laundry provides washer and dryer and a commercial kitchen sink for our guests' use. Our property is about an acre and the yard areas are bounded by woods on three sides. Our landscaping is generally rustic, but in the spring you might be lucky enough to share in the blooming of the azaleas, snowdrops, or bluebells! For our summer guests, we provide several fans. Although we do not have air conditioning in the guest suite, it is very rarely necessary in our location on Braddock Mountain. Please note that for health and environmental reasons we do not use pesticides within or outside of the house. We are happy to provide citronella candles for use on the terraces and citronella bug spray.
We live in a semi-rural residential area about 10 minutes drive from downtown Frederick and less than 5 minutes from Interstate 70. Our county road has no sidewalks, but has wide enough shoulders for strolling. In addition to historic Frederick, nearby attractions include four state parks within a 20-25 minute drive, plus the Appalachian Trail, Harper's Ferry, the C&O Canal, Antietam, etc. We provide a detailed guide for our guests of recommended restaurants and places to visit in the area.
  • Great place for a long stay. We were there three weeks. Lovely backyard and patio to enjoy. A lot of amenities. Very cozy. Easy to get into state/national parks or downtown Frederick.

The guest suite is cozy and filled with books, board games, and other comforts that made it feel relaxing and inviting. We would definitely return again!

  • Staying at taste of Jamaica with Amos and his family was one of the best experiences one can have. From the very first day, they invited me to eat dinner with them. I had a delicious traditional Jamaican dinner and many other dinners afterwards. They made me feel extremely welcome with their warm hospitality. I felt like I was part of their family. • It was a good experience. The bed was so comfortable and I slept like a baby. The house is very convenient to the interstate. I would recommend Amos’s place to anyone. Again thanks for allowing me to be in your home.

  • Amos’s home is perfect for the value and opportunity for someone new to town. Was in Hagerstown for the Maryland International Film Festival and his home was great. Easy check-in and open communication for returns. He has a wonderful family which makes you feel like home... topped with a beautiful home where it’s a pleasure to visit. If I’m ever in Hagerstown I’ll visit again. You won’t find a better home for the price in this area.

Want to get away from the craziness of life for a short time~then our guest house is for you! Lose yourself among the lush greenery and stately trees of our little taste of paradise. The best part is that you are still only 10 minutes away from downtown Frederick where there are so many unique shops and restaurants. Washington DC and Baltimore are less than an hour away.
  • I had an amazing stay in the blue cottage. The cottage is surrounded by nature, totally private. Lots of fountains and sitting areas with fire pits around the property, a swing, horses and a lovely barncat. You get a great view of the sunrise from the top of the driveway, and right around the corner on Cherry Ln is a spectacular sunset view. Close to Frederick. The cottage itself is stylish, had a fully stocked fridge, espresso maker, and chocolates. It was overall spectacular. I will be back!

    Ryann2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyed our stay very much. Very secluded at the back of the property. Even saw a family of deer in the morning.

    Steve2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely amazing. Because of previous guest reviews, we had high expectations, and these expectations were definitely reached! The cottage is tucked away among trees, along with beautiful landscaping and a wonderful wooden walkway lit by colored lights. It was very private and just what my husband and I were looking for. It felt like a little oasis of our own!! Huge windows overlook a glistening trickling stream, and the sun sheds beautiful light into the room in the morning. The room itself is not only wonderfully and tastefully decorated, but extremely clean and well-stocked with everything from towels to a fridge full of every beverage you can think of (including half-and-half for morning coffee!). The shower felt quite luxurious with a fancy shower head and nice soaps, as well! My husband and I also loved sipping on the DELICIOUS coffee from the fanciest coffee machine I've ever seen while rocking on the bench out on the porch overlooking the previously-mentioned landscaping and bright green surrounding trees. 5-second version: Extremely private, amazing coffee, beautifully decorated, wonderful hosts; Stay at this cottage!

  • ABSOLUTELY AMAZING hospitality and retreat!!! I want to share this adorable getaway with all my friends, yet selfishly keep a secret for ourselves, lol. My boyfriend and I will probably turn into frequent guests. All of the small touches did not go over looked. The Ghiradelli chocolate that I devoured is my favorite (How did they know?). I felt like sleeping beauty on the comfortable bed and linens. The masks were perfect for applying to avoid the beaming morning sun. Yet the views were so tranquil and serene. I meditated by the stream. Mark was gracious enough to let me borrow his yoga mat. Entering the cottage with spa like music was a refreshing and invited a tranquil energy flow. We appreciated all of the recommendations for local bars and restaurants. It rained hard the entire weekend and Mark even offered to dry our clothes for us in his personal dryer. My boyfriend greatly appreciated the gifted beer and fresh zucchini from your garden! I could on but i want you to have your own amazing experience. Mark and Kim, thank you for your generosity and your sweet kindness. We are grateful!

    Tatiana2018-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay in this adorable cottage. Mark was very attentive, checking in frequently enough to see if we were OK but also letting us have our privacy. The cottage itself is very cute, well decorated, with an amazing view of the woods. Amazing coffee machine! Was great meeting the dog & seeing the horses on the property. Have already recommended to friends and would definitely come again.

    Maite2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Would definitely describe Mark and Kim’s place as whimsical! Everything was wonderful and very clean! We enjoyed our stay very much!

    Kelly2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Honeysuckle cottage for an overnight getaway with 2 college girlfriends. It’s tucked away in a gorgeous little spot about 15 minutes from Downtown Frederick, which allowed us both easy access to great restaurants and feeling a million miles away from reality. The cottage was immaculate and beautifully furnished. We were obsessed with every detail, from the rustic light fixtures to the fragrant honeysuckle hand soap. Mark and Kim were great hosts and quickly responded to questions and suggestions for local restaurants, wineries, and breweries, even offering to arrange a private tasting with an up and coming neighborhood brewer. We spent our afternoon at Big Cork winery, a scenic 25 minute drive away, at their recommendation. It was just what we were looking for. Couldn’t recommend this experience more highly!

  • Heather's place is becoming my home away from home. This is my second stay with her, with Frederick being half way between my mom and my dad's houses. It's affordable and allows me to have some freedom between family visits. Very happy with the experience.

  • Very professionally run airbnb, it is clean, quiet, and mellow. This place is easy to recommend without any reservations. It is exactly what you expect/want.

  • Look no further! If you're looking for a genuine and kind host, quiet neighborhood that is close to major highways, and a comfortable and homey stay, this is it. Do not be quick to look elsewhere, if you're hesitant because of a dog or because this is a home with multiple listings. Heather does a great job keeping the friendly dog contained and content. Additionally, do not be intimidated by her highly detailed list of house rules. I greatly appreciated this because it assisted in knowing what to expect. More importantly, with this being a multiple listing home, it was reassuring to know that other guest were expected to follow the same rules. During my stay, Heather accommodated my requests and last minute scheduling changes. She is also a wealth of knowledge about the area while giving you privacy. Greatly appreciate her hospitality and would be happy to stay here again!

Relax and escape to the peace and quiet by the Potomac river, and wake to beautiful romantic views of the river and mountains, in this Historic house on 2.5 acres, 450 feet of river front land. Explore and partake of all the activities on the river and surrounding area. Fish, bike, kayak, tube, or sit by the river, watch the birds and wild life, just 1 mile from Shepherdstown. Read by the river or comfort of the house, or listen to music from Amazon Alexa, w/ a bottle of wine, Elope or renew.
This historic home has a cozy modern addition with kitchen, bathroom, and master bedroom, that matches well with the historic stone travelers Inn, right in the Shepherdstown suburbs. Outside there is a large lawn backed to a wooded hill loved by birds and wild life. Just 200 feet to the river with 450 feet of river front, across the lightly traveled river road. A large fire pit and plenty of log seating overlooking the river. Sit quietly for a bit and you might catch a glimpse of river otters, deer, fox and many other wild life coming to the river. Across the river is the C&O national historic park and tow path hiking trail. This section of the river is usually shallow and often can be walked across, near Packhorse Ford. Between the property and Shepherdstown is the historic battlefield of Shepherdstown with walking path with markers. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king size bed with CertiPUR foam mattress, with extra pillows. There is a walk in closet and full on suite bath. The large windows overlook the river and feature curtains and blinds so you can sleep in. Walk out to the balcony deck for even better views. Also upstairs in the old stone walled side is a large room with comfortable chairs and couch. The couch pulls out for additional sleeping on a comfortable Queen sized mattress. A desk with lots of lighting is a great place to do any work or emails and book case stocked with games and books to trade. The room is well lit and comfy for reading or board games. We have added a TV and DVD player with lots of family movies (but no TV service), for rainy days. Living room on the main floor of the stone house is equally large with overstuffed couch and love seat as well as rocking chair. You can really see the construction of the historic home in this room with exposed rough hewn beams and deep window wells. Amazon Alexa is here to help you with music, games, and information as well as turning on/off the lights ( remote switch as well by the door). This room was most likely the kitchen with the originally large cooking fireplace, now non-functional, but still striking. The Kitchen is bright with recessed LED lighting and under counter lights, a large modern table so groups can chat over meals and plan the daily events, while watching the river from the large window. Fully equipped with utensils, oven, microwave, and coffee maker. Off the kitchen you will find a powder room and full laundry.
The home is a short bike ride, walk, or drive to historic downtown Shepherdstown. You will go by some historic ruins and Shepherdstown Battlefield, on the way by Packhorse Ford. Close to NCTC, Antietam, C&O canal and Harpers Ferry.
  • Yocencia’s place is exactly as described. She was very fast to communicate. My girlfriend and I went for a couple days. The remodeled part seems very modern and the old part is quite charming. The road out front is very infrequently travelled, the river and birds provide the background noise. The HVAC was quiet, the kitchen was well equipped, the grill is nicer than mine, as is the bedroom setup. The location was so interesting, Hawk lived in the yard, short drive to canal. The ground patio has great furniture. We will plan to go back. Glad to find this place.

    Don2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is AWESOME! If you like history, you can’t beat it. It’s essentially on the Civil War trail. There is a higher-end Amazon Echo that I used via bluetooth. While the wifi is not strong, I was able to connect to my work system (Sharepoint) and conduct video meetings (Microsoft Teams). Excellent finishing touches (colonial art, nice lotions, nice leather furniture).

    Rob2020-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little house right on the river. I had a great time staying here and would certainly recommend to anyone.

    Luke2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful property! Super cute, very clean and just an amazing place to get away!

    Amanda2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • I took my sons (11 and 7) here for a boys' night while my wife was on a volunteer trip. We had a fantastic time. The house was clean and cozy--perfect for a rainy night--and the boys and I were really intrigued by the historical aspect. Even in the early March weather, the scenery was beautiful, and we couldn't resist taking a walk along the river and visiting the local historical sites. We capped off the visit with a great breakfast at Betty's Restaurant in Sheperdstown. Check-in and check-out were a breeze, and the hosts were communicative. We'll definitely try to come back for a weekend away.

    Nolan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place! Perfect for a weekend away or a longer stay. Very clean, well stocked, and feels very safe.

    Ellie2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • The wifi did not stream videos and made it very difficult to video chat which is how I do a lot of my work. Other than that everything else was close to perfect.

    Connie2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful stay we had at the cozy stone house!! My husband and I spent the weekend snuggled up on the couches and explored all the little ins and outs of the home. So much thought went into making sure the guests have everything. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need - utensils, dishes, condiments. The bed was so comfortable and cozy with a hugeee closet in the bedroom! And the bathroom was fully stocked too! You have to visit nearby shephardstown. Its the cutest little town with great stores and even better coffee! It was a little chilly out but the view was peaceful and serene and we enjoyed spending time overlooking the potomac river. Highly recommend this perfect little house for your next getaway!!

Semi-isolated 1940s cedar-shingled WV cabin with midcentury modern furnishings in peaceful wooded setting. Lovely spot for hanging out or working. Queen bed on main floor. Kitchenette. Waffle station. Fire pit & grill. Front porch with rockers. Outdoor patio dining area. River access 0.1 mi for kayaking, canoeing or swimming. Convenient to Shepherdstown & Harpers Ferry. Modern bathroom with tiled walk-in shower, barn door, vessel sink and heated floor. Echo Dot + CD player & CD library.
COVID-19 NOTICE TO GUESTS: As of May 21, West Virginia is lifting its requirement for out-of-state guests to self-isolate. Masks are recommended for all trips out in public to protect the community and are required for people who are symptomatic. Keep in mind that state rules are in constant flux during the pandemic. ABOUT KNOTT CABIN Built in the 1940’s, Knott Cabin is a cedar-shingled cabin in the woods, a short walk on a rural road from the Potomac River. This homey cabin is updated with stylish mid-century modern furnishings. A queen bed is located on the roomy main floor, and 2 twin beds are available in the loft. Enjoy a contemporary bathroom with tiled walk-in shower, rainshower head and spray wand, barn door, vessel sink and heated floor. The cabin also features a cozy west-facing front porch with rocking chairs, and a shady side patio with table/chairs, fire pit and charcoal grill. Since many restaurants are closed during the pandemic, we've added a camp style two-burner gas stock next to the grill. You’ll be close to Shepherdstown (10 min. drive) and not far from Harpers Ferry (20 min. drive). Highlights from Recent Reviews : “This was perfect…. The photos on the website are 100% accurate. The place was spotless. There was nothing we needed. Everything about it was super comfortable and relaxing. Our favorite “touches” were the rocking chairs on the front porch, the awesome shower, the Echo Dot, the coffee decanter, and I could just go on and on…” — Dave, June 2019 “What a beautiful place to stay... peaceful while only a short drive to either Shepherdstown or Harper’s Ferry! The cabin is very clean & decorated beautifully with extra touches like a waffle station, ingredients for s’mores, coffee & great smelling soap & shampoo. You will not be disappointed! We would definitely stay here again!” — Jennifer, June 2019 The kitchen includes microwave, convection toaster oven, blender, mini-fridge, and a waffle maker with mix provided! Complete coffee and tea station including locally roasted whole beans, grinder, Chemex and electric kettle (traditional coffeemaker too). There is no stove/oven inside the cabin. This is a rural area, so cell phone service is spotty. Bring your tablet/laptop; high speed wireless internet is fast enough to stream music or video. A TV monitor is available with and HDI cable and a Chromecast to facilitate watching content from your streaming device. Note that the loft with 2 twin beds is reached by steep stairs that are open and not easily gated. The cabin is probably not appropriate for children under age 3. No pets please.
Enjoy a scenic 10 minute drive along the Potomac River to the fine dining and shopping in quaint Shepherdstown. Easy 20 minute drive to historic attractions and river activities in Harpers Ferry. Hike or bike the C&O Canal Towpath. Canoe, kayak or go tubing on the Potomac River (we'll provide river access instructions at the cabin). Check the Shepherdstown Visitor Center website for details about all the great things going on in our town. We love our CATF theater guests! The cabin sits on nearly 3 acres of woodland but does sit next to a road that serves a few residents of the nearby riverfront property. You may hear cars driving by, as well as their 4-wheel ATVs which can sound louder and faster.
  • Great place for a getaway. Looking for a place for enjoying nature and being socially distant, the Knott cabin was wonderful. From the beautiful cabin, touchful thoughts like shower amenities, coffee station and waffle maker. To the Amazon echo and great layout, we loved staying at the cabin. BBQ's nightly, and reading on the deck, it was a great rental. The local area is also very nice. From biking the C&O, exploring Antietam, great hikes in Loudon Heights, great food in Sheperdstown, we didn't feel remote or isolated at all.

  • Wonderful cabin, rustic on the outside, modern on the inside. Very comfortable. Fire pit on the back patio was a very relaxing each evening. We spent lots of time touring the local civil war sites. Antietam, Shepherdstown, etc. great location for that. We stayed in the middle of the coronavirus shutdown., so were not able to take advantage of the surrounding towns. Easy walk (5 minutes on a paved road) to the Potomac River. A great place to put a kayak in the water if you bring one. Stairs up to the loft are not for someone that has trouble climbing stairs. We definitely plan to come back.

    Joe2020-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely great place to kick-back and relax! Located close enough to a few towns and other attractions if you want something to do but secluded enough to really get away from the craziness of life. Clean and updated interior that creates comfortable lodging. Great hosts as well, providing plenty of amenities and a plethora of information about the local area and the home. Definitely looking forward to returning in the future.

    Luke2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have asked for a better retreat while social distancing. The cabin is very welcoming and every detail is well thought out. It was spotless and the instructions/set up were intuitive. Will be first place to check if we need a peaceful getaway in the future! Thank you Lynn & Christian!

  • Fantastic location and incredibly well-appointed. Full of so many fun activities - games, puzzles, a great CD collection, reading materials. Not to mention a cute downtown, and beautiful scenery. One word of caution to taller guests that the bedroom loft has a bit of a low ceiling. Everything else was perfect!!
