Beach
“Popular with locals and visitors to Nelson. Great swimming spot for families, kite surfing and paddle-boarding for the more adventurous (including hire facilities). “Founders Heritage Park is a museum in Nelson, New Zealand, housing a number of groups with historical themes, including transport. A short heritage railway line is operated by the Nelson Railway Society. Several shops operate in the museum, selling bakery and other artisan foods, as well as locally-made arts & crafts”

“Our favorite, no bookings, so you may need to wait but no usually for too long. Its always humming and busy whatever night you go and the food is amazing. If you are looking for an experience this is the place to go. We recommend if possible to grab a seat along the bench by the open kitchen, you get to see what they do plus you may get an extra treat. Even the little dots of sauce on your plate burst with flavor. ”

Cafe
“Situated in what was a garden centre back in the 1970's and 80's, most of the cafe is in an enclosed courtyard with some inside tables in a cosy space next to the counter and kitchens. I love Deville's atmosphere - all kinds of Nelsonians and tourists come in for a coffee and their excellent food. Their date scones are big, full of dates and delicious, especially if you come in early when they are just out of the oven. Another favourite is the Caesar Salad. It is occasionally also a music venue at night. Deville can't be beaten as one of Nelsons many gems.”

Entertainment
“My partner Steve’s favourite pub. Best on a day with good weather as the outside seating area is fantastic. Otherwise very cosy inside the the small converted church. Always has good music playing. The orange Indian restaurant directly across the road will deliver food to this pub too (locals tip)”

Park
“How many city parks have mature giant Sequoias, a formal Victorian rose garden, goose and duck ponds, and a contemplative Chinese garden all rolled into a square block? Some of the plantings date back to the early days of Nelson, including a magnificent Bunya Bunya tree that dominates. Take a quick or leisurely stroll, and all your cares will melt away.”
