“ Newark Air Museum website. The air museum is located on part of the former World War Two airfield of RAF Winthorpe, close to the Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire border. Aviation heritage has been at the centre of our historical site for more than forty five years. Our aircraft, helicopters, aeroplanes, aero engines and aviation exhibits are sited partly on leased land next to the Newark Showground and land that we own. Very little remains of the original wartime buildings and what remains of the original runways are no longer fit for us. There is also a cafe on site and various events throughout the year. ”

“This austere building, the most complete workhouse in existence, was built in 1824 as a place of last resort for the destitute. Now operated by the National Trust, the stories of those who lived and worked here in the 1840s help bring the building to life and prompt reflection on how society has tackled poverty through the ages.”

“It was Britain's deadliest conflict and one which shaped our modern world. Why did brother take up arms against brother and how did a once all-powerful monarch lose his head to the axe man? Discover how the people of Newark survived three sieges by dodging cannon fire, hammering flat family silver to make coins, only for plague to ravage the town. Put yourself on the front line, feel the weight of armour and weapons and aim to destroy the Governor’s House as a Parliamentarian gunner.”
