Aly's place was great, the lake is beautiful and had great amenities. She baked us fresh goodies and the fridge and pantry were stocked. Warning that the wifi was not the best and had to take a dirt road in order to reach the house and would definitely recommend arriving before dark as it is hard to navigate at night. However it was a great place and an amazing getaway!

We had a wonderful few days at the Whole Life Villa where w completely relaxed and made best use of the boat and fire pits. Ava welcomed us on arrival and gave us a detailed guided tour of the property. We fell in love with the enormous kitchen and cooked lots of delicious meals on the BBQ outside. It is the kind of place where wonderful memories are made. Our host was extremely warm, helpful and we feel lucky to have been welcomed into the family home. The communication with this host was impeccable, she was on hand for anything we needed and went out of her way to make us welcome. I wish to return to this property in the future and will be telling others to make Ruth Lake a must stop off point on their trip to Canada. Thank you

My friends and I had a fantastic long weekend here. Charlotte & Ava were perfect hosts and were available to answer any queries we had. The property and surroundings were exactly as described. Perfect for a relaxing weekend away for anyone looking to unwind. Ample space for large groups. Property is right on the lake and there was a boat & canoe available for us to enjoy. A BBQ was also provided at our request. We even had a deer come to the window while we were enjoying a meal one night. Would definitely recommend Whole Life Villa and hope to make a trip back myself.

We had a wonderful family weekend at Whole LIfe Villa. All four of our children came and hung out. Very peaceful and beautiful location. We were there in the fall and the leaves were beautiful. It's a bit of a drive, but if you are in the area its terrific spot to stay while you visit with other friends and family. It would be lovely in the summer for a longer stay and really enjoy the water and maybe some fishing too!

We had a wonderful time staying at Ava & Charlotte's place. We chose this place to have a big family reunion after many years, and it turned out that it was a perfect choice. We spent 3 days in the middle of nature, enjoying beautiful lake view, cool breeze, and soothing sounds of nature, or just relaxing silence. The kitchen was fully renovated and equipped, and the beds were clean and comfortable. There was a rather large boat and a canoe, and there were several life jackets available. When we arrived, Ava, a very friendly and nice lady, was waiting for us at the cottage. She warmly greeted us and patiently explained to us all we needed to know about the equipment and appliances, bathrooms, phone, internet connection, and all other details, and she told us to contact her in case of any issues (which we did not have any) There is a 20-minute drive to Powassan, a very small town, and it takes 40 minutes to drive to North Bay. Thank you so much Ava and Charlotte! We defiantly recommend this place to others, and we will be looking forward for other opportunities to revisit.

Just a great spot with really great people. Lots of nature and wildlife and a class1 hospitality by Rosemary and Mike, the owners of the island. Just enjoyed this trip so much!

Christine and Clark are simply the best. They were exceptionally helpful, gave us many tips on what to see in the area and made sure we had an awesome stay. People like them are the reason why airbnb is just the best way to travel and experience a foreign country. Their two cats are incredibly cute and very well-behaved. We also enjoyed the lake very much. Thank you, Christine & Clark, for allowing us to use even the canoe, kayak and fireplace!!

We had a wonderful stay with Christine. Her cute and cosy house is right on the lake and offers beautiful views. Christine is very friendly and attentive. She answered all questions prior to our arrival and once we arrived, took time to chat and give tips about the area. Her two cats are adorable and loved playing with us. The bedroom is a little small and crowded for three, but it does the trick for a few nights and Christine did offer us the use of the downstairs room as well. The bedroom and bathroom could have been cleaner.

We really enjoyed our visit with Christine & Clark. The cottage environment was relaxing, the cozy room was somewhat small but it was a nice overnight stay, in spite of the nocturnal cat fights. We wish them well in their new cottage life.

The trip came together super quick. I'm glad we were accommodated on such short notice. Thanks to Brenda for setting it all up before we arrived. We made use of the entire faculty, including sauna and hot-tubs. The cottage is beautiful. Nice Hiking and lots of wild life. The perfect Quiet getaway we were looking for.

Incredible place. Scenic drive up from Toronto. Beautiful view from the sun room, dining room and bedroom. The house was a loft style which was really cool. It has been kept up to date unlike most cottages you find that have been left in the 80's and labeled "rustic". He had satellite tv which was useful because we wanted to watch the Eurocup. The bbq's were top quality Webers. Al was more than accommodating. -beautiful cottage -good fishing -family friendly -breathtaking views -good bang for buck Would definitely revisit.

We had a great time as a couple. The home was full service and would be great for a group. The place is so beautiful that pictures couldn't even do it justice. This lovely cottage is definitely a place we are looking to go again in the very near future. Al was a amazing host. My husband and I rented the chalet for a Christmas getaway. The chalet was better than advertised and the pictures didn't do it justice. It had a well equipped kitchen and living space and was very clean. The setting was beautiful, right on the lake with awesome views, and during our stay we saw grouse around and a fox come up on the deck. One thing to note, is that this chalet is part of a resort with four other smaller cottages. The hot tub and sauna are shared. No one had rented the others during our stay, but this was something I was not aware of until we had already booked the chalet. I don't think it would be a big deal to share, but something to consider if you are looking for a true getaway. Al was a great host. He was very friendly, answered all of our questions, and checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. He started the fire in the sauna so it was warm and ready for us when we arrived which was a nice touch. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the chalet and would definitely recommend this to others.

Al & Claudine are very friendly and were timely in response to any questions we had. The cottage is nice, and the dock is perfect for relaxing with a few drinks or enjoying the nightly sunsets. Restoule Provincial Park (recommended by Al & Claudine) is also nearby and has some nice trails if you like to get out and explore. Overall we really enjoyed our long weekend away at Commanda Lake!

We were greeted by Al and Claudine's property manager, Brenda. She made the check in process easy and showed us around the property. She was friendly and gave us some local info on walks and services around the area. The home is a fantastic and sitting on the back deck overlooking the lake was a very peaceful. The place is secluded and I would highly recommend a stay here to escape the city. Great experience and wish we could have stayed longer.

Our stay at this beautiful cottage was amazing! The whole house is decorated with great care and we loved the books and Native art we discovered around the place. Tracey was very nice and helpful and had left us a complete information package on the environment. The rolling hills, lakes and wild nature around the place makes for nice hikes. It is definitely a wonderful place to stay and we would love to come back to explore more of the surrounding area!

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect getaway! Tracey and Todd's cabin was quaint, comfortable, clean, just the right amount of secluded, and so stylishly designed (seriously, I've been raving to friends about how incredible the decor was for a cottage. So much thought went into everything). With the perfect amount of modern amenities and rustic charm, we had a glorious 6 days - most of which were spent relaxing in the beautiful screened in porch with a book. Blissful! This cottage exceeded our expectations and we'll definitely be back! Thank you!

Todd and Tracey are great hosts. Tracey was away during our visit, but she made sure we felt welcomed and well informed well before our arrival. Todd welcomed us, and was incredibly helpful showing us local trails, things to do, and the way into town. The cabin is beautiful. It's peaceful and secluded, and a breath of fresh air (literally) for some quick R&R from the city. The cabin is an inspiration for interior design, all the furnishings and decor made the space so unique and gave the place so much character. It's well stocked for your stay, the fresh eggs and pancake mix were a great touch.

Only minutes from Hwy 11 and has all the conveniences of a house... Very Glampy! There is so much thought put into the Cabin from the cleanliness, endless books, unique country decor, kitchen supplies down to the screen porch (which was a life saver from mosquitos even in September). Best part was lack of cell and Internet that made this a true vacation from reality with no distractions and more time for the many many books! Cannot wait for a winter weekend to head back when we can use the wood stove and have a fire!!

We absolutely loved our stay at this cozy cottage. The views are spectacular and the hosts warm and hospitable. The visits from the loons, chipmunks, frogs and hummingbirds were an added bonus while we relaxed along the edge of the lake taking in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Highly recommend this place to anyone seeking any R & R.

Had a great time at the cabin. My boyfriend and I were able to relax recharge ourselves in a cozy and beautiful environment. Our host was helpful and accommodating. Will be making this a regular trip.

This is such a perfect little cottage! Freshly painted with new carpet, it's cozy inside but not cluttered. Great bedding, soft sheets and ample pillows. Coffeemaker is the automatic drip kind. Running cold and hot water inside (lake water) and just the nicest outdoor shower outside, very private, nestled in the trees. The outhouse doesn't stink! The RV toilet is luxury. I wondered about privacy from neighbours before booking, but there's only one visible cottage on one side, about 40 feet away, and with enough trees in between that it doesn't feel intrusive. Kayaks and hammock for use. Lots of dry firewood. Cell signal with Rogers wasn't bad: phone calls were iffy but texting and data signal strength was great. We had to change our dates before arriving because I was having some medical issues, and Joel and his family were very understanding and accommodated the request -- these are good, decent people you'll be renting from! And Joel's Dad is such a friendly guy, dropping by with well water for drinking and loaning us his row boat. His cottage is nearby, but not directly visible from this one. Bring lots of groceries with you, Gerry's General Store in town has amenities (we went every day) but it's expensive and they don't have everything. We ate at the Crow's Nest restaurant one night and it's all right, they don't really cater to food allergies, but since it's the only one around for many miles, it's your only choice! The wings are as amazing as advertised however, according to my skeptical husband, who is a chicken wing connoisseur. But spending time on the dock and by the fire was the highlight, thanks Joel and family for your hospitality and generosity, we'll be back!

Joel was a fantastic host. Very easy to get in touch with, and very helpful throughout the entire process. His family lives at the next cottage over, and they are fantastic people. The cabin was a beautiful rustic cabin, with everything that we needed for our stay and then some. The area is very beautiful, serene and relaxing. We highly recommend going for a hike to Stormy Lake at the nearby Restoule Provincial Park. Do yourself a favour, and stay at this great little cabin in the middle of paradise.

We were greeted immediately by the host-- cabin was clean, water provided, firewood stacked and heat on. Very cozy!

Andrew was very helpful when booking the cabin, and answered my questions promptly. The cabin was more rustic than expected, but the setting was lovely and private. The kitchen was well supplied with cooking and eating utensils, and had a great array of appliances. We loved eating our meals on chairs placed near the waterfront; and enjoyed watching a friendly otter feeding, a duck family preening and an osprey diving! (We limited our flushes and use of tissue, rather than use an open (URL HIDDEN) worked fine.) The posted option was not appealing :(

This little cottage is quite nice, all amenities were available, and the hosts were very responsive and helpful when needed. The grounds were well kept and very private which was nice. The only constructive feedback I would share is; The cottage was extremely hot and no fans were available (aside from the ceiling fan in the living room) to help move the air in the bedrooms so it was very uncomfortable. The water looked great, but there were so many weeds that we could not swim off the dock. For this reason alone we would not return. Lastly, an additional fee is charges for cleaning, however you are expected to take all garbage home with you. After a few days at the cottage and a full car, this is quite the nuisance and takes away from the overall experience. Suggest getting a recycling and garbage plan in place for your guests. Otherwise a fun stay. Thank you.

Great, very clean & quiet place. Owner thought of all ways possible to keep guests busy. Enjoyed playing badminton and football, canoeing & pedal-boating. Loved the screen room facing the lake were we had all our meals. Candles on the table were a nice pleasant touch. If you forgot to bring your own coffee Gerry's general store in Restoule offers AMAZING coffee!!! Also bought honey at the Honey Farm. People of Restoule are incredibly nice. Marina & Tim

A private and beautiful setting for a weekend away from T.O. The cabin is rustic, but pretty clean and well-stocked; anyway, we spent most of our time down at the lakefront (with our dog, who loved it!). Nice place.

The lake was wonderful. Sitting at the end of the pier drinking a beer watching the dragonflies was everything I dreamed it would be! The cooking facilities were good and we had lovely meals on the decking area. We also loved being able to canoe on the lake. Not being from Canada we struggled to find out how to dispose of our rubbish. We finally found a dump in Golden valley but it was only open at limited times.

Andrew was a great host, very easy to get a hold of and quick to respond to all my questions. The cottage was in a beautiful area with a large amount of space. Inside was clean and well lit. All Andrew's instructions for getting there and getting set up were very easy to follow. Lake was very quiet and calm. We got rained out for most of our stay so we didn't make it into the lake. Although it's very weedy and mucky right off the dock so personally I wouldn't have walked through it. We used the canoe and row boat which was very pleasant. The row boat needs a way of holding in the oars. Great getaway!

Our stay at Andrew's cottage was wonderful. We had the privacy we wanted and the lake was just beautiful. The lot was quite large. The photos are a fair description of the property but it is cuter in person. It was a bit bigger than we expected but I wouldn't recommend more that four guests to stay. The kayaks and canoes were ready and available with life jackets and paddles and there were nice muskoka chairs and other outdoor recliners to use on the dock and the lawn. If you are expecting a completely perfect summer home, this may not be for you, its a cottage and its not fancy- but its what we wanted. The nearby general store was quaint and the staff was friendly. My bed (the queen size) was comfortable and I slept well each night. There is a small selection of DVDs and some puzzles there if you have a rainy morning or afternoon. The bathroom is basic, just the essentials, but that's all you need. The BBQ was in great condition and we were fortunate enough to get to eat every meal outside! As mentioned in some other reviews, the water does have weeds and is mucky on the feet. We basically swam off the dock but didn't do a lot of standing while in the water. This did not bother me. Andrew was great at communicating and was available when I had any questions- particularly upon arrival. I think that about covers it! Thanks Andrew!!!!

This waterfront cottage was such a lovely, private escape from the city. The space is exactly as described. The cottage, as well as the land are very well kept. The lake was so quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our long canoe ride, exploring the lake. We had all the amenities we needed and more. Andrew was extremely prompt in responding to any questions I had. We look forward to staying here again. Thanks Andrew!

We rented the Sunsetview cottage for a few days and really enjoyed our little lakeside vacation. Al and Claudine were great hosts and though all the surrounding cottages were full we still had plenty of privacy and a mini beach to ourselves. A lot of options for activity including fishing, boating and nearby honey farm and farmers market.. Oh and ice cream at the CrowsNest about 20min away. The cottage was cozy and had all the basics we needed, great bbq and a nice back yard that leads to the lake where our pup was able to enjoy some shade under the trees. Will definitely make our way back next year!

Brenda welcomed us warmly, and the cottage was very clean at the perfect location. Jacuzzi + Sauna was a bonus!

Al & Claudine made us very welcome. We were actually given an upgrade to the Chalet! The whole setting of the resort is wonderful. The chalet is very spacious and clean with all the amenities one would need. The patio and the dock are excellent, with excellent views of the lake, and the sunset. All in all we had a great weekend.

The overall trip was fantastic. The drive up to the cabin was amazing. The winding roads and scenery was the best part. The cabin is not car accessible. Peter was an amazing host, and was kind enough to take my group in with his pick-up truck, and at the end gave all of us a ride on his ATV. If your looking for something private, this is definitely the place. Like in the description think glamping. Bring Lots of Bug spray, and be prepared for the bugs!! My group was able to go Fishing and canoeing on the private lake which was great. Thanks Peter for an amazing Trip, we will be back.

The cabin and its setting are wonderfully peaceful. Like other reviewers have said it's basic, but also comfortable. We did not get to meet Peter, but he arranged for his father to meet us when we arrived. However, Peter was excellent at replying to my many questions beforehand by email. It's pretty fantastic to have a lake that you don't have to share with anyone else and the swimming off the dock was great. There are 2 fire pits to choose from for bonfires, and a wood stove to keep the cabin cozy if the nights are cold. If you love nature and tranquility you will enjoy it here.

Tucked away in the woods of North Ontario, this cabin isn't fancy but has tonnes of priceless charm. With only the essentials, this really is a classic, rustic cabin on a beautiful private lake. As long as you prepare as if for camping, you'll have no trouble with the lack of power and plumbing. There's a canoe and kayak there for playing around in and a couple of other assorted boats. Sunrise on the lake on a misty morning was well worth the drive. There are two fire pits, one by the cabin that we used for cooking and one at swim rock down by the lake. We'd love to come back again next year for another un-plugged long weekend!

This cabin was unbelievably rustic and charming, the pictures do not do it justice! From the furniture, to the atmosphere, to all the cool stuff on the walls, we loved it. And Peter made us feel very welcome. Best of all, it was ACTUALLY secluded, which is just what we needed. With not on a soul around, we had the lake all to ourselves. We will definitely be back in the summer.

Our weekend spent at peters cabin was absolutely lovely. It was so nice to unwind and get back to the basics. Peter was an excellent host and the place itself was just as described. We will definitely be back!

A marvelous little getaway gem!! Peter was a kind and helpful guide and what a fun ride down the lane (4x4 required!) and the view to greet us was amazing! The cabin was so charming and surprisingly well-equipped. We found it very neat that everyone who visits feels like leaving a little something to make the next guests' visit easier (extra TP, nice sea salt or a half bottle of rye). We are already planning our next getaway!!

The cabin is rustic, secluded, well equipped (even with water toys), and seems to have a great history of cottagers visiting over many years. In short, it has a great vibe! With three fire pits, one just for camp cooking, and a BBQ, great group dinners and smores are well accommodated. The lack of electricity and refridgeration is quaint rather than frustrating - and propane lanterns keep the place well lit at night. The swimming is fantastic and there's also plenty of room for suntanning on the rocks or dock. We were also able to take out the canoe and water boards. Our host was very accommodating and helpful. If you are looking for quaint upscale glamping, then this cottage is a must! We will be back.

We had the most incredible weekend at the SawwWheat Retreat! Janice and Bill were so friendly and accommodating. They had a ton of fun activities, and we spent our afternoons floating and canoeing on gorgeous Lake Nosbonsing. The place was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed! We can't wait to come back!

Janice was warm and welcoming. Her place is more beautiful than the pictures. Everything is immaculately cleaned and convenient. We really appreciated the fully stocked kitchen, the patio BBQ, the nighttime fire-pit and the awesome new floaties to lounge in the lake with. The water was warm and beautiful and the stars where incredible at night. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to get out of the city and recharge their body, mind and soul. Absolutely gorgeous! Those are the first words that come to mind. When we first arrived everything was beyond what we expected. We were warmly greeted by the hosts Janice and Bill. The view is spectacular and the apartment is cozy and warm. Offering everything you could want or need, fully stocked kitchen, excellent working appliances, incredibly clean and quiet. Janice and Bill were the perfect hosts! While respecting your privacy if you wanted it, they were very generous at sharing their beautiful property. We were so greatful to have them show us around the lake on their pontoon boat, and they even took us out on an evening fishing cruise. We made use of the canoe they made available, and there was great fishing off the end of the dock as well! We thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the lake and Janice has a great selection of floaties you can use as well. In the evenings we enjoyed a quiet fire and loved listening to the loons sing across the water! The star gazing was breathtaking! If you've forgotten to pack something don't sweat it! There is a grocery store with an LCBO attached within 2 km of the apartment. There's also a little convenience store right down the road which stock bait for fishing and snacks if you want them. This location is perfect for a romantic getaway but would also be perfect for a travelling business person. Access to wifi made it easy to stay connected if that's something you're looking for. This gem of a location will absolutely be on my list of places to return!

Our stay was wonderful! We were greeted as soon as we pulled in and was shown around the spacious apartment and deck. Really beautiful place for an individual or couple getaway!

Our experience began before we even arrived. Janice was prompt at answering all our questions prior to and after booking. We arrived and were met by Janice who showed us to our apartment and gave us space to check it out. Once we were settled in she directed us to the boat launch and how to get from the launch to her dock which she graciously provided space for us to tie up our boat for the weekend. We were also provided a topographical map of the lake to help us navigate around. We then shared a drink with Janice and Bill (ask Bill about his old fashion) and had a fire over looking the lake in the evening. This is a beautiful space with a great view and pretty good fishing right off the dock. The little extras like water chairs, noodles, a hammock, coffee, snack bars and some toiletries in case you forget yours were an added bonus. We will certainly be recommending this space to our friends and would definitely return in the future.

Al & Claudine were great hosts and very accommodating to our needs for the duration of our trip there . Al helped us with a lot of things to making the perfect wood fire to the camp fire and he was a very and knowledgeable about the area . Overall we had a great stay !

The cottage was exactly what we were looking for. We were right on the water with all water activities at our finger tips. We could enjoy a nice late nigh bonfire right on the lake where we could watch the sunset. The docs were all easily accessible with enough space for each cottage. It was also nice to have a cottage that came equipped with kitchen supplies so that we did not have to worry about packing extra things. We thoroughly reccomend this cottage and will be back again!

Had an amazing time at the cabin. Al was quick to respond to messages and Brenda was very helpful at checking us in especially when we got lost. Clean, cosy cabin , would recommend !

The cottage was just as described and we spent a fantastic weekend there. It has a great view of the lake and everything one needs. Thank you!
