New American Restaurant

“This is hands-down one of the top handful of restaurants in the city. I'm a writer and I've written about this place and its chef/owner, Bryce Gilmore, in publications from local to The Telegraph newspaper out of London! It's an absolute favorite of Austinites, and if you're a foodie you absolutely will not be disappointed by a meal here. Highly, highly recommended.”

Dive Bar
$
“Classic Austin mainstay. For years, it was owned by the same people who kept it adorned in Christmas decor - with various theories regarding its origin. Some say it was because the owner's son left for war during Christmas and never came back. Some say it's simply good marketing. It has recently taken new ownership but its halls are still decked with boughs of holly, and now there's a Stubb's food truck outside.”

Park
“Endless gorgeous hiking and biking trails, as well as a 1-2 mile paved path with bridges over Walnut Creek that extends from an entrance on Metric Blvd. to N. Lamar Rd. The creek fills up after a good rain and there is an off-leash dog area. Picnic tables and grills, bike repair stations, and a snow cone truck in the summers! ”
