  • Joyce replied quickly to messages and was accommodating when we had to change the date. We got into the place easily with clear instructions, and we found the place clean, cosy and welcoming. Joyce had even thoughtfully left a bottle of milk and tea and coffee so we were able to have a cup of tea on arrival - the most important thing for a true Brit!!! Thank you for a lovely stay in a beautiful place :)

Welcome to Fairholme, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Fairholme is a wonderful Grade II listed property which sleeps four guests, in two elegant bedrooms, with a spacious family bathroom. Dating back to the 17th century, this Cotswold stone property has retained lovely character features including exposed beams, an exposed Cotswold stone chimney breast and a large fireplace in the living room with a roaring real fire. These period features have been complemented by stylish furnishings and modern facilities, including wireless internet access, a Freeview TV and a well-equipped kitchen. There is a pretty garden to the rear of the property and free on-street parking is available close by. Fairholme is located in the picturesque town of Northleach, an unspoilt town which boasts a number of independent shops, restaurants and pubs, including The Wheatsheaf Inn which is just a stone’s throw from the property itself. The town prospered during the Cotswold wool trade and this funded the impressive 15th century church of St Peter and St Paul. Every Wednesday, locals and tourists alike come to the town for the open-air market which showcases local produce, and the annual Northleach Charter Fair and Music Festival in June is a wonderful event for all ages. On the outskirts of the town sits Stowell Park, a private estate whose stunning gardens are open to the public during the months of May and June each year, offering fine views over the Coln Valley and displaying gorgeous flowers. Northleach is surrounded by the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with many cycle routes and walking trails on its doorstep to explore. It is also well placed for visiting the other lovely towns and villages of the Cotswolds, including Cirencester, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Chedworth, home to the Roman Villa which is owned by the National Trust. Further afield destinations such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath are also within easy reach for day trips. • Lovely stay. Unbelievably comfortable bed ! Beautiful original wood beams and stone walls, tasteful decor and a lovely place to unwind in. Came for a long weekend of total peace and quiet to relax and recharge ..... and pretty much got exactly that. Hosts left me all the details I needed and didn’t disturb me once , which I really appreciated. Thank You !

    Mitch2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is absolutely what you see on the photos - it is spotlessly clean, modern and on trend. The amenities leave nothing to be desired, even down to the little touches like dressing gowns on the bed and fresh milk in the fridge on arrival. The ‘check in’ was very quick and easy, all that was required was a key safe code. The property itself is in a perfect location, an idyllic little village with a pub straight across the road (that does amazing food!) and not too far from Bourton-On-The-Water which is beautiful and well worth a visit. Could not fault our stay and will definitely be recommending to our friends and family!

    Samantha2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Don’t hesitate to book The Hayloft if your travels take you to the Northern Cotswolds. Beautiful home, perfect location, serene surroundings.

    Philip2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful stay and perfect location for visiting the stunning Cotswolds x

    Georgia2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is absolutely gorgeous. Looks exactly as it does in the pictures. We really enjoyed the extra touches like biscuits in the kitchen and lovely smelling body washes in the bathroom. The apartment was also really warm and cosy. Location is great for general cotswolds exploring and the pub opposite (The Plough) is cosy and friendly. We were enjoying our stay so much that we requested an extra day, which the owner allowed us at no extra charge! We really couldn’t have been happier with our stay. I should also add that the bed is really comfy and everything felt sparkling clean.

    Emma2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is a unique and beautiful location in the Cotswolds! Much bigger than I expected and we had a lovely time. Highly recommend.

    Amy2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay and is in a really great location only a few minutes away from Bourton-on-the-Water, with lots of other walking stops nearby. Amenities are brilliant and the area the cottage is in is lovely and quiet. Would stay again

    Victoria2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Hayloft is a wonderful place to stay in the Cotswold, as being located within 45 min to 1 hour of main places to visit. Cold Aston is very quiet town with a family Pub across the street. We were able to rest a lot. No street’s sound, just the sound of birds to wake up to... The particular care and attention with a bottle of milk in the refrigerator and of bathrobes were much appreciated. Thanks a lot.. we have not left UK yet to get back to Canada, but we are already planning coming back to The Hayloft over next few years.

The Notgrove Estate is a 1500 acre family run working farm owned by Harry and Diana Acland. Set high up in the Cotswold Hills it has 400 acres of grassland in deep valleys and 100 acres of woodland and rolling arable fields. The farm has a mix of sheep, cattle and arable and has diversified with two horse livery yards and a holiday cottage business. In the last few years Harry and Diana have put in new foot and bridle paths and entered into a wildlife conservation scheme planting 200 acres of special plots planted with wild bird mixes, corn bunting mixes, pollen and nectar mixes for bees and beetle banks that promotes the preservation of our natural wild birds. The scenery changes with each season as does the pattern of farming; we have an abundance of lambs and calves in spring, harvest in summer, colourful autumn leaves and dramatic winters, often with snow.
  • This place is everything you need and more. The pods are adorable and have a lot more room inside than you would think. We stayed for one night but wish we had stayed longer. Definitely order the fire pack if you can, it was pretty windy but we still managed to get the fire pit going and it was such a lovely way to end the evening. We met the owners when having brunch at the onsite café called the Nuttery. The food hit the spot and the staff and the owners were so welcoming and extremely hospitable. Definitely somewhere you will want to go back to in the future, we are already looking to book this place again! Thank you so much again! See you soon!

    Jennifer2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

This gorgeous new development, surrounded by open countryside, is built on the site of the old Westwoods Grammar School, with Rixon Road named after one of the old school houses, itself named after William Augustus Rixon (1858–1948) who was a renowned artist, landowner and Sheriff of Gloucestershire. The historic town of Northleach is just a few minutes’ walk from Hawthorn Cottage and is one of the best surviving examples of a medieval “New Town”. It was built in an area of almost entirely open sheep country by the church and local landowners who wanted to develop a network of markets where rents and levies could be collected! By 1227 the town was granted its market charter and really began to prosper (a market takes place to this day, every Wednesday). The town’s gentry prospered on wool from the famous Cotswold Lion breed, with the architecture of the town, and in particular the church of St Peter and St Paul, reflecting their wealth. With the decline of the wool industry, the town’s fortunes declined, but it picked up again with the development of a coaching route between Wales and London. The route that became the A40 was itself the reason for the second decline in the town’s fortunes with the rush of modern traffic through the town centre. In the 1980s a bypass was constructed, and the town returned to its peaceful market town roots, luckily with many of its historic 15th-, 16th- and 17th-century landmarks still intact for today’s travellers to explore. (See ‘Local Amenities’ below for more details of Northleach, including restaurant recommendations.) If you’d like to explore the well-known historic and natural sights of the Cotswolds –perhaps wander around Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford and the grounds of Sudeley Castle or visit Cheltenham Races - yet prefer modern, luxury living to beams and thatched roof tops, look no further than the sumptuously equipped Hawthorn Cottage in the ancient market town of Northleach!

  • A lovely stay for me and my group of friends. Comfortably houses 8. We were allowed to have our friend’s dog with us, which made all the difference. The weather was cold and raining (and sadly no wood burner for us as it was out for repair) but plenty of info out for local jaunts. We holed up away from the rain and had a wonderful time!

  • The stay was perfect. The apartment is in a strategic point to visit the Cotswolds. Northleach is really very welcoming. Council to take croissants and fresh bread every morning from the baker in the square at 2 min walk from the apartment. Even if the check-in is automatic, you are equally warmly welcomed by a chocolate cake and fresh milk in the fridge. Nothing is missing! Moreover, the three times we needed a favor, Dani immediately worked to help us! Thanks for making our stay a blast!

    Veronica2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • Malt Cottage is a cozy home, wonderfully situated in Nothleach. We walked next door to the pub for a pint upon arrival and then made a fire in the wood burner to enjoy while we made and ate dinner. An initial pile of wood was provided, along with a bit of milk and a Victoria Sponge. The beds were comfortable with plenty of blankets. Home is well situated to host a family and meet its basic needs. Note, there was no body soap in the shower. Thanks so much for a quick but lovely stay!

    Kristin2019-11-17T00:00:00Z

Not a modern house in sight! Just a clutch of pretty cottages, a medieval village square and church – a Cotswolds bubble of peace. The Guggle is quirky, there's a classic cottagey beamed sitting room with an inglenook fireplace, games, well-thumbed Penguins, sofas to relax on... it's a homely space for families. The hub is a light airy kitchen where you pull up a pew at an eight seater table; and look out to the west-facing enclosed cottage garden, perfect for for al fresco meals and run-around space for the kids. For a first night or treat, order locally cooked pies and crumbles: delicious. There are four pretty bedrooms. Up a spiral staircase (not suitable for the elderly or infirm) to the first floor there are two beamed bedrooms which share a shower room, upstairs to the second floor there is a beamed master bedroom with en suite bathroom, a further double bedroom room and en suite shower room is on the ground floor. You can stroll to the pubs and shops in the village, cycle along the Cotswold lanes, walk along beautiful pathways or drive to National Trust houses and gardens Chedworth Roman Villa, Sherborne Lodge.
The quirkiness of the cottage, it's very old c.1600 so expect low beams, spiral staircases (carpeted), exposed cotswold stone walls, and the unique Guggle room, a domed Cotswold stone room, with original 1700 wall painting.
One of the Cotswolds 'forgotten' towns, with lovely places to eat and drink, bakers, butchers and village shop
  • We had a wonderful time at the Guggle.

    Adam2020-02-15T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful time at the Guggle. The kitchen was really well stocked for a larger group with plenty of hot water and heating. Maps, games, speaker and tv were all welcome, along with wood for the fire and a bottle of fizz in the fridge. The Guggle was cosy and spacious. Loved all the extra touches...thanks again.

  • The Guggle is a great place to stay for anyone looking for a typical cotswolds property in a central location. The property is well equipped and relatively spacious. We were three families with two babies of two and three months and despite all the baby equipment it felt big enough for us all. There are some low ceilings and beams which guests need to be aware of, two of the men in our party were over 6 feet so the phrase 'watch your head' was used quite a lot. The old spiral staircase also takes a little bit of getting used to but is all part of the character of the property. I can't fault Emma as a host, she got back to us straight away when we had one or two queries. Overall a great experience.

    Rose2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! I would go back in a heartbeat. The cottage is beautiful, with a lounge spacious enough for the 8 of us. The beds were super comfortable and we all felt relaxed and welcome from the second we arrived. The village is cute, and we had an amazing meal in the Wheatsheaf which is a stones throw away. Emma was so friendly when we arrived and showed us everything we needed. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

    Shona2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cottage in a really picturesque village. The Wheatsheaf Inn being close by is a real draw. Wonderful host.

The welcoming living room has a sofa, two leather armchairs, a wall-mounted Smart TV and an ornamental fireplace and the dining room on the other side of the floating staircase has an Oak effect dining table with seating for four and a second ornamental fireplace; Kitchen: The compact yet well-equipped kitchen overlooks the garden and contains an electric oven with four-ring induction hob, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, a compact dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. The wooden staircase leads up from the main living area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: This lovely spacious room, with high ceiling and views of the lane below, has a double wrought iron bed, a pretty vanity table and a freestanding wardrobe; Bedroom 2: With a lovely feature Victorian fireplace and dual aspect views, this pretty room has two single beds, a vanity table and a built-in wardrobe; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. There is off street parking for two cars on the gravel driveway at the front of the property.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

  • A lovely period cottage in the middle of the beautiful Bourton on the Water village. Short walking distance to everything in Bourton including restaurants, pubs, bakery and supermarket and nice walks. Lovely garden and good functional kitchen. Perfect for two couples or family. Highly recommended.

  • Book this lovely cottage if it's available! The instructions and self check-in was a snap, a bottle of wine and helpful tips were waiting on the table, milk in the fridge, coffee, tea and biscuits in the kitchen and a beautiful apple tree in the back yard (in September). You could not be any closer to the high street of Bourton-on-the-Water; a 30 second walk and you were feeding ducks on the river. Parking was right at your front door, too. The cottage was beautifully appointed with thoughtful and useful items throughout, and, more importantly, was sparkling clean. Everything was done in advance to make our 5 day stay idyllic! So glad we chose this as our base in the Cotswolds! Thanks to Michelle and everyone involved for our perfect lodging.

    Abby2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage in a perfect location. Even though The village is busy during the day, it’s still ideal. Two stunning bakeries and lots of nice eating places. The fact that the village is flat makes for easy getting around. Good walks from the village though for those who want. We really enjoyed the easy walk to Lower Slaughter for lunch and onto Upper Slaughter . Highly recommend North Cottage

  • Bank Cottage is in a great location to explore The Cotswolds. Five of us stayed for three nights (including x3 teenagers) and found it a comfortable base. Mr Ross (the caretaker) was very welcoming & there is a convenience store a stones throw which is superbly stocked & open 8am-8pm. Would recommend.

  • We were 4 old friends for 4 nights in Laurence's rbnb: it's a nice place! Northleach is a quiet village, central in Cotswolds, so it was easy to go the most interesting spots in 1/2 an hour. We were delighted by the fireplace prepared for us in the chimney! We warmly recommend this cottage!

  • Lucy's house is great and has everything you'd want from a Cotswolds cottage. Great location and excellent amenities in the house - we appreciated the cake very much!

  • Spent a lovely long weekend here with friends - you couldn’t ask for a better location, there are some lovely places to eat and drink steps away from the house and other towns are a short drive away. Bedrooms and big and spacious - the master bedroom has a lovely open plan bathroom attached to it, however the toilet is probably a bit too on the public side for us haha. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, everything is super easy to find and of good quality too. Loads of board games and entertainment inside the property too, which is perfect when staying home of an evening with the little ones. Cosy, warm and clean - great spot for exploring all the local areas.

    Lucy2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing stay at Lucy's cottage. The location was even better than I expected - a 20 second walk to the main square of a wine bar, pub, shop, cafe, takeaway and more. The cottage was perfectly clean and had everything we needed for 4 of us and a dog. Lucy even had a delicious cake waiting for us on arrival. Check in and out was very simple too. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone visiting the Cotswolds!

    Emma2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Lucy is such a thoughtful host, we were staying over the festive period and she had decorated the cottage beautifully and left little touches to welcome me and my family. It was our second trip with our newborn and the cottage was very well equipped with travel cot, washing machine etc. Not only that, the place is pet friendly she provided a dog bed and biscuits, our pooch was very happy and we had some lovely walks in the surrounding area along the river and countryside. The cottage was spotless and she was very communicative to answer any questions. I loved Northleach, not as touristy as other villages in the Cotswolds (which are in easy reach by car) and just 1 min walk you have a lovely wine bar, coffee shop serving breakfast and a village store open 8-8 everyday. We had lunch on New Year’s Day in the trendy Wheatsheaf pub, it’s recommended to book ahead as it’s popular. Would definitely recommend her place and we would happily visit again in the future. Fabulous stay and was sad to leave!

    Mark2019-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy cottage for stay with little people and dog. Lucy was very accommodating.

    Simon2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is spotless and so cozy. The fireplace makes all the difference, especially for days when the weather doesn't cooperate. The cottage is spacious and well maintained, it wasn't cold and provided for a great weekend escape. Lucy was very responsive and flexible with arrival and check out time accommodations, which made all the difference to us. We loved our stay in this cute little village and I hope to return back soon.

Welcome to Middle Gable The Old Hall, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Middle Gable The Old Hall is one of the most picturesque and historic properties in the Cotswolds, forming part of an original 17th century manor house, dating from the time of the English Civil War, over 350 years ago. This grade II* listed property sits in peaceful gardens, in the heart of the famous Cotswolds market town of Bourton-on-the-Water, often referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds". This lovely town has numerous shops, restaurants and pubs, and is ideally located for exploring the entire Cotswolds region and beyond. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Middle Gable The Old Hall is accessed via its garden, which leads to the beautiful wooden front door. Inside the house, a small entrance hall leads into: Living room: A grand room, which has been newly refurbished in a traditional style, enhancing the abundance of period features, including stone mullion windows, a large fireplace with wood-burning stove, wooden beams and a centuries old alcove. The refurbishment includes a limestone flagged floor, with underfloor heating, and the provision of a flat screen satellite TV and Blu-ray home theatre system with an iPod docking station. The living room then leads into the Inner Hall, which in turn leads to: Shower room: Contains a shower, basin and toilet; Kitchen/dining room: The kitchen is well equipped, including a cooker with hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washer dryer. There is a good sized dining table, with five chairs, and the layout of the room ensures that all guests can socialise whilst cooking is in progress. Returning to the Inner Hall, a grand wooden staircase leads up to the first floor hallway, off which are: Bedroom 1: The initial highlight of the room is the spectacular super-king size four poster bed and this impressive room also has what is believed to be the original wooden flooring, stone mullion windows and the original “wig and gown” cupboard. There is a flat panel satellite TV in the room; Bathroom: Contains a bath with shower attachment, basin and toilet. The staircase then continues up into the gable of the house, giving access to: Bedroom 2: A very spacious, dual aspect eaves bedroom, with beautiful original wooden beams. The room contains three single beds, two of which can be pushed together and one of which doubles up as a sofa (it is a full size adult bed, however). Heading back downstairs and out of the front door, the lovingly cared for open plan gardens spread out in front of you. In Middle Gable The Old Hall’s garden, extending from the front of the house, there is a bench, for relaxing and looking out over all the gardens, as well as a paved seating area, which contains an outdoor table and chairs. At the end of the garden is a double garage for guest use.
  • Middle Gable is the perfect home in the perfect location in Bourton on the water, everything in the town within a short walking distance. Bourton on the water itself is a great place as close to many other lovely villages in towns within the Costwolds. We stayed here just as a couple but would also be perfect as a family, as its plenty big enough with large kitchen/ diner and living room space. Log burner is a very nice touch in the winter. The bathrooms were very clean, the bed was very comfortable. The host called before arriving with very clear arrival instructions on the location and how to get into the property, and gave a lot of information about the town and surrounding area. Highly recommend staying here, our only regret was that we only booked 2 nights.

    Teddy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at middle gable, perfect position, very comfortable, sparkling clean, would definitely recommend.

    Marie2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Middle Gable is a beautiful house and the location right in the middle of Bourton-On-The-Water is superb. It is the most interesting old building which formed part of the old Manor House and dates back centuries. It was spotlessly clean and the beds were very comfortable. The directions from Cate got us there without issue and the parking for 3 cars was a great addition.

    Jocelyn2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Middle Gable is a wonderfully appointed property whose location is excellent and within walking distance to all local amenities but yet is most private and quiet. I would strongly recommend this property anyone wishing to explore the Cotswolds.

    Edward2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful old house, said to have a history of 350 years, a beautiful large garden in front of the door, and a good location right in the center of the town. The neighbours next door are very welcoming, helping us to carry our luggage and pick up the keys. It is a very good stay experience.

    Wang2019-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place to stay.

    Matthew2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful village and home to stay in. Staying at Middle Gable gives you the full experience of a small Cotswolds village. The location is perfect as everything is within a few minutes walk. The garden is beautiful and the neighbors, Ann and Steve, were so kind and helpful. The village people are so friendly and welcoming. We did suggest to the owners to provide a steamer as an iron was not available due to previous incidences at the home.

Welcome to Weir Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Weir Cottage is a traditional Cotswold stone cottage, located in the heart of the famous market town of Bourton-on-the-Water, affectionately referred to as the "Venice of the Cotswolds", due to the beautiful river that meanders through the heart of the town. Bourton itself has plenty to appeal to visitors, including a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as being ideally located for exploring the other many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Weir Cottage has quite a low front door, therefore guests typically enter the property via the conservatory door at the rear of the property. The following rooms are on the ground floor: Living room: A lovely cosy room, with low beams and a real fire, which contains comfy seating for four and a flatscreen TV; Kitchen: Spacious and well presented, the kitchen contains an electric oven, four ring ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, and a washing machine; Conservatory/dining room: Bright and airy, with a door out to the garden and an open plan connection to the kitchen, the conservatory contains a wooden dining table, with seating for six; Reception hall: Currently empty, this low height room leads to the front door; Hallway: There is a tumble dryer under the stairs in the small hallway. Stairs lead up from the hallway to the first floor landing. All the first floor rooms are lovely rooms in the eaves of the cottage: Bedroom 1: Contains a double bed, with a memory foam mattress; Bedroom 2: A flexible room, which can be set up as either two single beds, or a super king size bed; Family bathroom: A stylish feature bathroom, which contains a bath with an overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and electric heated towel rail; WC: Contains a toilet and a hand basin. There are good sized, peaceful gardens to the front and back of the cottage, with outdoor tables and seating available in both gardens. At the end of the front garden is a gravelled parking area, with space for two/three cars, a major advantage in a town where parking can be difficult.
  • An adorable cottage right in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water. Equipped with everything we needed and more! We travelled with our toddler and the host provided a cot, high chair and stair gates which was a great bonus. The cottage is in a great location and we were able to walk to lots of different shops, restaurants and local attractions. We would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Absolutely amazing experience. The cottage was charming, cozy and everything we could have hoped for. The host was quick in all communication and even called to welcome us the evening of our arrival. Everything worked wonderfully amenity wise and the rooms, beds and couches were all cozy. We had a 6 month old and were supplied with a travel cot, high chair and baby gates. The host even left a nice surprise for our group upon our arrival. Highly recommend.

We are perched on top of a hill on the edge of a beautiful and typical Cotswold village in an area of outstanding natural beauty. At the top of our driveway, tucked away from the main house, is our barn. If you are looking for something a little bit different but with a modern feel, gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside and privacy, then this will be for you. Our pool house was converted from a small stone barn and, as the name suggests, there is an outdoor pool and one side of the building looks out on to this (though it's only open June-August). The other side looks out on to uninterrupted views of magnificent rolling hills, complete with sheep, pheasants and birds of prey. Outdoor furniture is available. Inside it's a little non-conventional, and is open plan, with a mezzanine bedroom area that has a huge gable-end window and an 11-rung wall-fixed ladder to get you up to it. Up there is a low-level double bed and a cargo net that pulls across the mezzanine opening for extra safety, if needed. NB We are very sorry but this won't be suitable for anyone who cannot ably and confidently use a ladder to go both up and down. There is a separate toilet with a small hand basin and a walk-in overhead shower (please note no bath) with a connecting changing area where you can also store/hang things out of the way. The main room is open plan and has a kitchen area with an island and seating for 6. It's well equipped and includes gas hob, electric oven, fridge with small freezer box, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle (no washing machine/dryer). There is a huge, very comfy corner sofa for relaxing and there's a TV with an Amazon Firestick with a small selection of channel apps including Netflix and Amazon Prime. It has under floor heating throughout. Please note we do not have curtains on the massive sliding doors on each side, however it is private where the barn is situated with no buildings overlooking it. There are removable blackouts that can be used on the gable-end window on the mezzanine/bedroom level, for those who prefer less light when sleeping. Outside there's a lovely deck and beyond the pool is a private garden area leading on to a paddock. Wifi works very well, mobile not very well at all, though you can hook-up to the wifi and use wifi calling, if you have it and that works perfectly.
Our area is very beautiful, very green, very quiet and very rural. This makes for a relaxing and peaceful stay. It's also super-dark at night as we have no street lights. If you are looking for night-life you'd have to go to Cheltenham (15 mins drive, cab possible with a bit of pre-planning). Please note you will have to drive to get to a pub or shop.
  • Our stay was perfect! The converted barn was just what we needed and had everything for a lovely weekend. Views were amazing and the host left us to it but was only a message away. Highly recommend this place.

  • Thank you for a very private, enjoyable stay in your pool house. The decor is modern and minimal as shown in the pictures- the bathroom and shower were functional and spacious. Even during stormy weather the views are beautiful and it’s very peaceful. We went to Cheltenham which is only a 15 minute drive. We didn’t go walking because of the weather but the pack in the barn is full of ideas. A pint of milk in the fridge would be my only suggestion. Otherwise everything was perfect.

The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

  • The cottage was spotless and seems new, location to the village was convenient. The closest grocery is about 15-20 minutes away so stock up before you get there especially if you plan to eat at home sometime.Kitchen was well equipped. Very nice and cosy for a couple.

  • To call this place outstanding would be underselling what my experience was. The cottage was more than comfortable, we immediately started referring it to home. Immaculately clean with nice touches like the towel warmer, a comfortable, a true Queen sized bed that was comfortable beyond expectation and a very simple check in process. This was way beyond expectations and nothing I would ask to be modified. In the village it was conveniently located steps from The Swan which provides a great location for pints, breakfast, dinner, whatever was needed that day. I had considered staying at The Swan and fortunately didn't as it would have been a mistake to miss out on this cottage. If you are out of country looking at this location (I am from Canada) do not hesitate to jump right in and book. It will meet your expectations and more. Personally I hope to get the opportunity to stay again.

  • Charlotte's cottage is fantastic and far exceeded our expectations. Cosy and clean it's the perfect home away from home. The cottage had everything we needed and Charlotte was a great host, she was on hand to answer any questions we had throughout the stay. Northleach is a good base when visiting the Cotswolds, a few minutes drive from Bourton on the Water not far from Cheltenham & Cirencester. Make sure you visit the Wheatsheaf Inn and get a takeaway from 'The Takeaway' as well.

  • An excellent cottage in the centre of Northleach. Stumbling distance from the Wheatsheaf Inn and brilliantly located for dog walks and the other wonderful opportunities that Northleach has to offer. Charlee stocked the house with milk, tea, cake and firewood - we couldn’t have been happier! We will be staying again and have recommended the cottage to friends who live in the village as a place for future guests.

    Catherine2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage in a fabulous location! Charlotte’s house was perfect for our stay. She had kindly left a cake and some milk to welcome us so we settled in with tea and cake. The pub opposite was lovely-we were lucky to have wonderful weather so spent lots of time drinking (eye wateringly expensive!) wine in the pub’s garden. We didn’t use the cottage’s kitchen but it was well stocked and clean. The shower was good and there’s a separate bath if that’s your thing. Charlotte was very responsive to questions and accommodating about an earlier arrival time. We have family in the village so now we’ve found Charlotte’s cottage we’ll be back!

    Jude2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Great weekend spent in this lovely cottage, fulfilled all our needs and would book again.

    Natalie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z

Mill View is a spacious and light one-bedroom house in the beautiful Cotswold town of NorthLeach.
Mill View has been recently refurbished throughout. On the ground floor you enter into a well equipped and spacious kitchen/diner, with enough space to seat at least 6 people if you have guests. Upstairs is a large living room with a great corner suite that coverts into a sofa bed using the ottoman. The huge bedroom can be set up as either a large double with super-king bed, or a twin room still with plenty of room between and around the beds. The newly fitted bathroom suite is again spacious and light, with modern tiles and fittings.
  • Great place to stay - centrally located in Northleach, clean and smart inside, parking, and Colette was helpful and quick to respond.

    Adam2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Self check in was easy with a lockbox, didn’t get to meet Colette but she was helpful through messages and really sweet to have left us complimentary wine and chocolate. We enjoyed this cute and clean place. Two rooms upstairs with 2 single and 1 sofa bed as described in the listing. Shower is great with the temperature and pressure. Provided disposable shavers, tooth brushes, and shampoo+condition+lotion. Appreciated those. We didn’t however use the laundry machine as we didn’t like the smell it had altho we really wanted to. A funny note - we struggled a little to lock the door, didn’t know how but managed to figure out in the end. Not sure if it’s a UK specialty but definitely something we weren’t familiar with. Haha oh and we appreciate that the wifi at this place worked well. oh and there’s Netflix included. Yay

    Yin Hsuan2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Arrived at this great place with no issues, directions and instructions were spot on. Colette had everything perfect for us, from a travel cot to plastic plates and cups for our little one. The house is very stylishly decorated, the bed is huge and super comfortable and there was plenty of space in the bedroom for a travel cot. TV having Netflix was good, we were able to watch films in the evenings. Location was great, close to other towns and places of interest in the Cotswolds. Within Northleach itself, we had a great lunch in the black cat cafe and everything was in walking distance. Would definitely recommend this place.

  • My mother, boyfriend and I visited the Cotswolds for the weekend and really enjoyed our stay at Colette’s home. Colette was very quick to respond to any queries we had and her home was just beautiful. It was very comfortable and just walking distance to the local shops and a short drive to other towns. Thank you Colette!

  • This is a wonderful quaint place in the Cotswolds. Everything you need is accessible within a 2 minute walk. The house is done up beautifully and comfortably houses 4. The cleanliness of the place was outstanding and the amenities resemble how any good house should be. The place is maintained very well and Colette is a great host - She communicates quickly and clearly with you on whatever you need. If you are searching for a place in the Cotswolds, your search should end here!

  • Very nice cottage true to the description an pictures. Colette's cottage was sparkling clean, nicely decorated with all amenities we needed. We appreciated Colette's kind attention (bottle of prosecco and biscuits on the kitchen's table on our arrival) and responsiveness each time we had a question. The cottage is situated in the centre of Northleach with a Budgens less than 5 min away (walking), which is quite handy. Good location as well to visit other villages. My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Colette's place.

A beautiful clean and warm house in the Cotswolds which welcomes pets and children. Just 20 minutes drive from Cheltenham so ideal for festival week. Catering and transport can be provided - please ask for details.
I opened the doors in October 2017 where everything was brand-spanking new, the beds have the most comfortable mattresses with duvet toppers - honestly you will never want to leave! Whenever I receive a booking I get a little boost and when I read the reviews I feel so proud. This house is everything I would want - the kitchen is so well equipped one can just as easily knock up a cake as cook an entire meal, everything you need is there from sharp knives to pizza stones etc. This year (2020) I have just replaced all the sheets - 400 count and the towels because I believe if you are putting your trust in me then I should return the favour and give you the best. I do all the cleaning and laundry myself - in the summer the sheets are dried outside and have the wonderful scent that only air dried linen can have. I try to present the house as spotless and I really welcome constructive criticism on how I can improve the service and offer value for money so you leave happy.
My property is situated just behind the market square but in a quiet and beautiful location. Northleach is a very small but incredibly friendly little market town. The butchers opposite the house cannot be recommend highly enough. I also the the little bakery directly behind the house. They serve yummy cakes and Cornish pasties (amongst other delights). The Wheatsheaf (2 mins walk away) is a hotel/pub/restaurant and I love it here. Fab food, great relaxed atmosphere and a large sunny terrace for those rare days of al fresco dining! The wine bar behind the house has a great following and they do lots of pop up food nights but I can’t vouch for the wine bar as I haven’t visited since it changed hands.
  • Amazing location in the Cotswolds. Really lovely place. Great facilities all provided. Extremely comfy beds and sofa! Easy self check in. Quick communication from host. Couldn’t recommend more

  • 6 of us stayed here for a girly weekend break. We had a fantastic time! Didi's house is wow and the amenities were perfect. North Leach is a tiny very quaint village and Didi's house is right in the center making it perfect to pop to the shops or stumble home from the wine bar. It was warm, the beds were ridiculously comfortable, showers fantastic. Overall cannot recommend more.

    Samantha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • The house was perfectly clean and very stylish; beautifully presented. The spaced worked really well for two families coming together - enough bedrooms and bathrooms to keep everyone happy. The location is wonderful and we had very relaxing facials at the beauty parlour that is literally round the corner. The locals were very friendly and we were made to feel welcome to their stunning village. Didi is a brilliant host, even taking in our shopping that arrived early and putting it away in the fridge for us. We considered ourselves very lucky to have found this gem of a place.

  • Beautiful house with plenty of space for 5 people. Great location for walks and exploring the Cotswolds

  • Didi's place was perfect for our family of six for Christmas. It is a great central location for exploring the Cotswolds during the day and spending cozy evenings at the house on the comfy couches. The village is charming and easily walkable, with market and pubs right around the corner from the house. Didi was quick to respond to any questions and requests we had. She even surprised us with a Christmas tree in the living room!

SOUTHWOLD BARN is a luxurious conversion of five cart barns in Compton Abdale. The village is one of those 'that time forgot' where there are many beautiful country houses, mixed with quirky Cotswold cottages all on little lanes which lead towards the village spring in the shape of a Cotswold stone crocodile! We're right in the middle of the Cotswolds so around 10 miles to Cheltenham, Bourton on the Water, Cirencester, 12 miles to Stow on the Wold. Oxford is only 30 miles away and Bath is an hour's drive. We are conveniently located near to three outstanding wedding barns ( The Barn at Upcote, Stone Barn, Cripps Barn) and host many wedding party groups There lots to see and do in the area with fabulous food, local breweries and Gin and Whisky distilleries within a very short distance.

The fully fitted kitchen opens on to an open plan dining area. There are two double bedrooms on the ground floor, these bedrooms share a bathroom with walk in shower. On the first floor there is a twin bedded room with en-suite bathroom, and a fourth double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. There is also an additional small sitting area with a TV. There are plenty of great places to eat and drink in the area if you don't fancy cooking yourself. All the main supermarkets are available in Cheltenham/Cirencester, about 15 minutes drive away. All supermarkets deliver out to us. This is a fantastic area for things to do: all manner of water sports at the lakes near South Cerney, cycle paths in the Forest of Dean, history/archaeology at Chedworth Roman Villa, Sherborne Lodge and Sudeley Castle, also Warwick and Oxford and Bath are not far away. • Jackie's home is beautifully situated with fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. The bed was super comfy, great shower and we were made to feel very much at home. Jackie was flexible around our check in timing which made our weekend very much easier to manage.

  • We could not recommend this place more highly. The house was beautiful, quaint and clean and the room comfy and beautifully cosy. The real gem in this experience, however, was Jackie who is a fabulous and gracious host! Nothing was too much trouble, but the highlight for us was getting to share breakfast with her as we chatted with her about all aspects of life, which was really wonderful! We’ll definitely be making another visit not only for the house and wealth of things to do in the area but for the lovely hostess with the mostest! Thank you, Jackie!

  • This house was magnificent and fully epitomised our imagination of a charming country home. The location could not be more convenient or beautiful and I encourage all future guests to witness the sunrise here - it's worth the early wake up! Penny was also a superb host who gave attention to every detail ensure we felt at home. Our stay was absolutely delightful and we highly recommend it to everyone!

    Richard2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and had such a lovely time, the place is super cosy, a proper authentic Airbnb, a home away from home. The pictures don't do this place justice, it's a real British cottage, well situated in the heart of the Cotswolds to easily drive and visit the surrounding areas or simply stay in and enjoy peace and quiet by the fire, in the picturesque home, cooking in a kitchen that has everything you might need. Plus the bed was super comfy and warm. Penny was quick to communicate, but left us to own devices. Her attention to detail was remarkable with little touches that made our stay special.

    George2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place and an amazing hostess. There was also breakfast for next morning. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Penny!

    Georgia2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing house! We've stayed at some beautiful and unique houses with Air B&B both here and abroad but I can honestly say this one is exceptional and such a rare find. On our arrival it was beautifully laid out, the lights were on, the breakfast and dining tables were laid and the fire made up ready to light. The house had everything we needed. The village is a good place to explore the Cotswolds from with so much close by. There are so many small towns and Cirencester close by for a bigger town for shopping. The Wheatsheaf about a mile away in the next village served really lovely food although a little pricey. If you want a really nice light lunch when out and about we came accross Huffkins in Stow which was really good. If anyone is looking for a truly romantic hideaway to escape for a few days this is the one regardless of the time of year and the weather. I'm sure we will revisit 'The School House' and the beautiful Cotwolds very soon. And our thanks to Penny and Peter for helping to make our getaway in the Cotswolds unforgettable.
  • Oh My Goodness! Pear-Tree-Cottage is exquisite!! Beautifully furnished, warm, comfortable and with everything you could possibly need. Loved the quirkiness of the house and our kids loved their Attic beds! The village is so pretty - and this is a great base for exploring other parts of The Cotswolds. We would highly recommend this beautiful cottage and we thank our wonderful hosts for allowing us to experience their beautiful home. Ten out of ten! Thankyou Pear-Tree-Cottage for an unforgettable holiday! xx

  • The house gave us a true Cotswold experience. There was so much character from the stunning raffters in the roof, the well and many more little crannies through out the house. The beds were divine. Had one of the best sleeps. The sitting room was perfect for my family of 6 or sit around chatting into the late hours of the night. Also, we didn’t need our car all weekend because the house is right in Burton-on-water.

  • Really fantastic location and a great stay. The host was super easy to contact and really friendly. Would definitely recommend!

    Charlotte2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely adored our stay at Pear Tree Cottage. The home is cozy and inviting. My 3 year old thought she was living in a real life fairy tale! The host also provided a travel crib for our 5 month old and a high chair. Everything was spotlessly clean. The beds had huge fluffy pillows and comforters. We used the washer/dryer & dishwasher several times - both great to have on hand. The location cannot be beat - on a quiet street just steps from shops, pubs, and restaurants. Free/easy parking out front. Additionally, the host allowed us to arrive early on our first day, after a very early flight into Heathrow. This was a major help & we were so grateful. We would absolutely stay again!

  • Lovely lovely house, had all we needed...we were 5 Adults a tot and 2 babies had room for all... really good location

    Limor2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house is very centrally located and is quintessentially English. A few low ceilings are far outweighed by a modern kitchen, tasteful and comfortable furniture, and spotless cleanliness. The house is warm and cozy, so much so that we never felt the need to light the log burner. We cooked several meals and found the kitchen very well equipped. We also loved the coffee, tea and biscuits that were left for our arrival. The house has a very clear instruction book that we referred to several times!

    Ben2019-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was a truly wonderful stay in a sweet cottage, tucked behind the main Cotswold village street, overlooking a small garden and pottery shop. Everything was provided and beautifully clean. Highly recommend to those wanting a quiet weekend.

In our beautiful Cotswold garden, wind up through the rockery to this sheltered hillside spot, with its very own private deck and seating area, offering gorgeous views to the surrounding village, nestled in idyllic countryside. This light and airy, but warm and cosy studio has a super comfortable kingsize bed, a desk and a separate stylish modern bathroom, a lovely deep bath, and a very efficient shower attachment if needed. You will be living under the eaves, so headspace is a little limited.
You are welcome to potter about our large garden.
We are just 2 minutes walk from the Seven Tuns Pub, which is a quintessential Cotswold country pub, with good food and roaring log fires - this is a great place to while away an afternoon or have an evening out without any need to drive. We are situated in the most beautiful countryside with miles of footpaths. We have a beautiful church and a Roman villa in the village and a farm shop that serves an all day ‘bottomless’ breakfast. Nearby Cirencester has great independent shops and a Waitrose. Also highly recommended for food is The Village Pub at Barnsley and The New Inn at Coln St Aldwyns. There is also a village taxi service, if you need a lift home. Needless to say, we are right on the doorstep of all the well known cotswold villages and beauty spots, so this is an excellent location from which to tour around.
  • Caroline’s place is a real delight. A picturesque setting with great views and places to explore. A great host from the moment she helped us locate which cottage was hers in the dark! The studio itself was lovely too, with lots of nice finishing touches. Would recommend taking a trip to the local pub, where we had a lovely pie and chips!

    Matt2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just as perfect as the first time! Caroline's hospitality is second to none and we thoroughly enjoyed our second stay with her. Once again the room was very clean and had all the facilties you could need. We forgot how lovely the bath is and how comfortable the bed is, which led to an unplanned lie in - oops! Caroline and her husband had lots of suggestions for places to eat and visit in the area which was greatly appreciated. Communication was also very quick and there was always someone around if needed. We will be back very soon!

    Emily2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and perfectly located!

    Annie2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Caroline was an absolutely fantastic host. We came out for a romantic weekend and this exceeded all our expectations. The space is a lovely separate loft room out in a gorgeous garden. Lots of little touches - including an outdoor 'refrigerator' in the stream that runs through the garden! Caroline provided some excellent suggestions for our trip and this place proved to be a perfect base to explore the Cotswolds - with most of the big names within 20-30min drive down picturesque lanes and through tiny villages. Would highly recommend staying with Caroline to anyone who wants a perfect getaway!

  • Caroline is an amazing and hospitable host! Before we arrived, she sent us so much useful information about Chedworth and the surrounding Cotswold towns, which we found really useful when we were planning what to do for the duration of our stay. She is on the doorstep of a lovely Cotswold pub, as well as lots of amazing trails to walk along. We walked along a path she recommended to us, which led to the Roman Villa - and she was so kind as to lend me and my partner boots for the walk! The lodge was sparkling clean and kitted out with a kettle, cafetiere coffee, and tea ready for us - as well as some milk already in the stream basket! Caroline is definitely a super-host! Her hospitality and attention to detail made our Cotswolds getaway an absolutely amazing experience!

  • Caroline’s place is ideally located for anyone who wants a break in the Cotswolds for a couple of days. It was very clean, easy to locate and a perfect base to explore the surrounding area from. Caroline was always quick to respond to any questions and had plenty of suggestions for things to do in the local area!

Or The Black Horse at Naunton is also a lovely village pub with great pub food and a cosy atmosphere.
  • Our stay at the Poppy Pod was lovely. It was the perfect little space for just my husband and I whilst we were visiting the Cotswolds. We really enjoyed making use of the fire pit, and watching the alpacas across the way. What a lovely little spot.

  • We had a great time in Notgrove. The pod was super clean and cozy. The owner was helpful, we need a blender for making baby food (coz my baby doesn’t eat ready made baby food) and he brought it over right away. Thank you!

  • The cottage is very comfortable and had everything we needed for a short stay. The log burner was great but be sure to take logs with you as none are provided. The setting is very picturesque and we would recommend The Mousetrap for a great atmosphere and food!

  • We, two couples, loved our stay at Inglenook Cottage.. We found it extemely comfortable and a pleasure to come back to after discovering what else was at our footstep. We loved the location within the beautiful village of Bourton on the Water. Lots of eateries within a short stroll if you don't want to cook or travel too far. The proximity to other villages was also perfect. I especially loved the walks we could do in the surrounding areas. Great for couples, a small family, or friends.
