  • This was our second visit to Cat's Cove. We had a lovely weekend at the cottage. Having the pool available is a wonderful aspect of this property. And Kathy is a marvelous host. I cannot recommend this place enough for those that are looking for a quiet peaceful time away on the Northern Neck.

  • Everything was just perfect! The cabin was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the hostess had everything we needed to be relaxed and enjoy our weekend away! We loved the porch on the cabin and listening to the water and wildlife! Her garden flowers were beautiful! Kathy was so welcoming!

  • A gorgeous stay. My partner and I stumbled upon Kathy’s cabin on AirBNB, and we feel so lucky to have found it. Kathy could not be more of a gracious hostess, and the setting was absolutely stunning.

  • Kathy and Charlie were fantastic hosts with a gorgeous property. The cabin was easy to find, and Kathy welcomed us and showed us around. We had everything we needed and had a blast kayaking, relaxing on the waterfront screened in porch, feeding the goats, swimming in the pool, and hanging out. This is a perfect place to get away from it all, and you’ll feel the stress melt away immediately. We enjoyed every aspect of the trip and can’t wait to come back.

  • If you are looking for a relaxing peaceful weekend then look no further!! This was the BEST experience and stay I’ve ever had on air bnb! Kathy and Charlie were excellent and welcoming hosts. The cottage is literally sitting on the water and the grounds are amazing. Don’t look elsewhere! You will not be disappointed. We also found amazing restaurants in Reedville on the water! We will be back to experience every season :)

  • Cats Cove is a little paradise on the Northern Neck. The views and wildlife are endless. The hosts are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They are very accommodating. Also, the local restaurants has some of the best seafood I have ever tasted. We would recommend Angelo's Pizza Co in Montross. They have a to die for seafood steamer with crab legs, clams, oysters and shrimp. No sauce needed it was so fresh. Also, the pizza was incredible.

Search the web for Reedville, Virginia or the Northern. Reedville was named for Captain Elijah W. Reed (1827-1888). In 1874, Reed, a sea captain from Maine, came south to the Chesapeake Bay and recognized the potential of the menhaden fishing industry. As early as the 1620s, in the area which became New England, the Native Americans had taught the Plymouth Colony's settlers the value of burying menhaden in each hill of corn, as fertilizer. Captain Reed moved his business from Brooklin, Maine, to the Northern Neck, and brought to the established community of watermen a method of extracting large quantities of oil from the fish, by rendering them by the millions. Their oil was used as a lubricant and in lighting, as whale oil was; and the leftover bones and carcasses were valuable as fertilizer. He opened the first processing plant. By 1885, Reedville was heavily engaged in the menhaden fishing industry. Menhaden processing factories on Cockrell Creek produced fish oil, meal, and fertilizer from menhaden. The menhaden fishing industry brought tremendous wealth to Reedville and to Northumberland County. Reedville, a town of approximately 500, was once known as the wealthiest town in the United States, due to its large income produced by the menhaden industry.[2] Fishing boat captains and factory owners, who made their fortunes from menhaden, built homes along what is now Main Street. Dozens of fish processing factories, most recently Omega Protein Corporation (successor to Zapata Haynie, Reedville Oil and Guano Company, and Haynie Products Company) and Standard Products Company, have dotted the Northumberland coastline near Reedville and other fishing communities. Omega Protein remains the largest industrial organization in the area. The company, with several hundred employees, has a fleet of large oceangoing fish-harvesting vessels supported by a number of spotter aircraft. Menhaden, once caught, are cooked in large mass and processed for further use in various applications including as a protein additive for poultry feed; Tyson Foods is a large customer. Businesses in Reedville also offer sport fishing charters and regularly-scheduled cruises to Tangier Island. Lodging in the small community is offered in bed and breakfast establishments. Several large houses on Millionaire's Row are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2008, newer homes were built in the last-remaining available lots on Millionaire's Row. The Reedville Fisherman's Museum has restored the oldest home in the community; known as the Walker House, it houses the museum in conjunction with adjacent buildings. The museum also has two vessels, the skipjack Claude W. Somers and the deck boat Elva C, which were entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The museum, which dedicates itself to preserving the watermen's heritage, has historical information about Reedville, the Chesapeake Bay, and the menhaden fishing industry. • Our stay at Julian & Anne's place was better than we expected. We were there for a Christmas stay and love the place. It was the perfect size for my little family. The kids love the kiddie playground set in the back. Everything was there for us to have a good family time. It was super clean. The hosts were very nice and came over just to say "hi". Btw, Belle Isle park is just 10 min away; it is an awesome place to have a picnic and for the kids to play in the playground just 20 feet away!

  • My family and I were attending a wedding nearby and we decided to make a mini-family vacation. The house was spotless and had everything we needed during our stay. We fished of the dock, trapped some crabs, swam and kayaked. The most important thing was that we got to do were to relaxed, enjoyed the gorgeous view and got the “big city” out of us. Julian made sure that we had everything that we needed and enjoyed ourselves. Thank You and we will be back.

  • My family stayed at Lacey's property for the second time around. Just like my first review, nothing have changed. Still again another wonderful relaxing and fun experience. We enjoyed fishing and crabbing from the dock; and relaxed to the tranquility of the beautiful peaceful nature. Lacey ensured that we were comfortable and amenities at our disposal. We will definitely return again. Lacey is such an amazing super host!

Lovely little quiet open plan cottage on the Corrotoman. Great views out to the Rappahannock. Wonderful private dock for crabbing, fishing, birdwatching or just relaxing. Nice little sand beach to get into the water and swim, kayak or float. Unplug and unwind on the porch, in a hammock or on the water.
Shaq-ri-la is right on the Corrotoman near Yankee Point Marina and the Merry Point Ferry. You probably won’t want to go anywhere once you settled into the porch and hung out on the dock. Belle Island State Park is nearby and it’s not too far a drive to Kilmarnock.
Yankee Point Marina with boat ramp, store, cafe & pool. Merry Point Ferry, free cable ferry that takes you across the Corrotoman for a shortcut to Kilmarnock & Irvington. Belle Isle State Park is just a few miles up the road.
  • It’s a great house, Beautiful Sunrise very comfortable bed. Very secluded and no WiFi really helps you reconnect with your significant other. We had a great time. Would visit the house again

    Maureen2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I were in the area for a family wedding. Everything was perfect. Loved the enclosed porch and the fireplace! The “unplugged” aspect of the home also allowed us to take advantage of spending more quality time with each other away from our devices. The bikes were a great added touch as well! We enjoyed a nice morning bike ride. Would definitely recommend this spot for a nice secluded get away.

  • Beautiful location! Things we clean and neat and the home’s layout made for a very comfortable stay for my boyfriend and I. There was the perfect amount of amenities and the view from the house was gorgeous. Amanda was super easy to get ahold of and communicate with. We are excited to hopefully stay there again in the future! Everything was perfect.

    Kylie2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was an amazing getaway destination. I was planning on just taking it easy and enjoying a nice view while reading books or playing games, but we ended up having so much fun I didn't read at all on this trip. Amanda suggested a local moonlight canoe tour at the nearby state park the first night and it was just lovely. Amanda also had crab pots available and kayaks and the next day we spent crabbing and kayaking the river right there. There weren't many boats on the water and it was such a joy to be out kayaking. We actually went pretty far. She had lifevests available in each kayak so you don't have to worry about safety. There was also bottled waters available for drinking (not because the local water is bad, but just different.) The porch was one of my favorite features. We enjoyed our crabs out there and could see the moon and water easily. This is a remarkable little getaway and I cannot wait to visit again!!! I highly recommend it. You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

Mom and Pop's Honest Point Home has been in our family for almost 70 years. It has been and continues to be a haven for anyone seeking a relaxing rural property. The cottage is situated on 25 acres surrounded by water and wildlife. Your only neighbor is the owner's home which is next door. Make sure you read the details below
Please read this entire description before renting as it contains detailed information about what to expect. For over 70 years our family has owned Mom and Pop's cottage. Reputed to be the first home on Honest Point. the cottage is the epitome of relaxed uncomplicated living. The house was renovated and upgraded for guests about 8 years ago and we continue to add improvements as the needs arise. Mom and Pop's cottage is situated on deep water and has a small beach. The shore drops off slowly providing small children with safe places to play in the water. The surrounding 25 acres provide ample opportunities for children and pets to roam around The interior includes an equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, (a queen bed in one, 2 doubles in the other), one bathroom w shower, living room office space and two screened porches. The house is located in the historic Northern Neck region of Virginia. Enjoy crabbing, fishing, boating, kayaking, winery tours, and the historic homes of George Washington, Robert E Lee and James Monroe. If you prefer wildlife rather than night life this is the place for you. Wake up each morning to eagles, geese, herons, and local crabbers fishing their pots. This is a quiet rural location with plenty of acreage which will give you the chance to get away from the bustle and stress of the city. Most amenities can be reached within 30 minutes. A note for those from the city -- we live in an area where "critters" are a fact of life. Some of them are a pleasure to see and some of them are a nuisance. We make every effort to accent the positive and eliminate the negative critters that you may encounter . Can be rented for the summer or the year at reduced rates HURRICANE and INCLEMENT weather policy. If weather conditions threaten your trip, contact the owner by telephone or text before cancelling or travelling. Generally speaking, if the house is safe and ready for occupancy, there will be no refunds made. If the owner has to cancel your reservation for safety or other reasons, you will receive a refund. Other options may apply so be sure to call or text.
This is a very rural area but there are ample restaurants, stores, and historical sites within easy driving distance. If you are seeking wildlife not nightlife this is the place for you.
  • The private beach access and privacy were the best part. We spent the weekend fishing and looking at the stars at night. It was so peaceful and nice to get away.

    Christina2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything you'd want for a relaxing get-away you'll find here. The water views are spectacular, and the cottage is charming and super comfortable.

    Betsy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The home was private, with lots of land for our two little boys to run and explore! We appreciated the well stocked kitchen (including coffee!) and bathrooms.

    Jessica2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Mom & Pop’s is a wonderful property right on the river. The house itself is cute and charming with a lot of history to it. Nicely appointed kitchen with decent tools & cookware, and a gas grill outside with grilling tools. Really enjoyed the screened in porches for watching the kids play with the pup, or just watching the occasional boat pass by. If you follow the shoreline to the right (Easterly), there’s a little path you can take to a strip of beach. Really cute, fun place to visit. Thanks Nancy!

    Nathan2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was a fun location; perfect for kids, with a small sandy beach and a gradual increase in the depth of the water. We enjoyed crabbing, fishing, and watching the hawks and bald eagles. Nancy worked us in after a last-minute booking, and was a gracious hostess!

    Laura May2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, charming cottage on the bay. Very relaxing. Bald eagle soaring above, fish jumping out of the water, boats cruising by, very peaceful and picturesque. Our dog loved the little beach area, we loved the serenity, was a total win for everyone. Nancy and her husband were awesome hosts, very nice and informative. The place was amazingly clean and fully stocked with everything you might need. We had a much needed stay from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. $30/dozen crabs were right down the road.

    Heather2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This home is charming with fantastic views! It's a great place to relax and wind down. The welcoming touches like fresh flowers were particularly nice. The front screen in porch was the perfect place to sit in the evening and watch the spectacular heat lightening! We highly recommend this beautiful home and location!

    Tommie2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • A clean home with sweet touches such as fresh flowers in every room, a bottle of wine when you arrive and the invitation to pick fresh veggies from the garden and herb garden located off the back porch. Beautiful breezes while you sit on one of the two screened in porches, begging you to stop and slow down and enjoy the peace and quiet Mom and Pops house offers. I felt as if the world stopped and I was back in simpler times with no worries in the world. I will be coming back!

  • This is without a doubt the best-kept secret on the Northern Neck! The cottage is everything anyone needs for a quiet, relaxing stay, and Kendall goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome! It is a beautiful setting, indoors and outdoors, and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the area. It is secluded enough to have that "get-away" experience, yet close enough to great restaurants and venues. We recommend it to anyone coming to our area to discover how beautiful" Rivah life" can be!

  • Beautiful little cottage with many modern touches. The best part of this place are the gorgeous sunsets as it faces the water to the west. Great dock that would be a lot of fun to swim from in warmer months. Kendall was a fantastic host. At one point I had thought I had locked myself out, and Kendall responded immediately. Great host, great house.

    Jerson2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing vacation. So peaceful and very relaxing. Very clean spacious house on a great property. We kayaked, crabbed, fished, and enjoyed the big yard. No need to leave the property. Thanks for being a wonderful host. Best family vacation we’ve had.

  • Christine was a wonderful host! She was very quick to respond to my questions and super accommodating with our requests. The house was very clean and right on the water. We hung out at the dock, went swimming and kayaking, and enjoyed some lawn games in their big yard! Thanks so much, Christine!

  • Christine's place was very clean and spacious. She was quick to respond to my questions. Whether you are fishing or just sipping on a cup of coffee at the private doc it's just so peaceful. I had a wonderful and restful stay here. Will definitely be visiting again!

    Inyoung2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • The house has plenty of space for a family. There is a bedroom on the main floor and the other three bedrooms are on the second floor. The house is on the water. The hosts have kayaks and plenty of life vests, so you can enjoy the water. The town of Reedville is 10 minutes away. I recommend taking a day trip to Tangier Island. You have just enough time to visit the isolated beach and grab a soft shell crab sandwich for the boat ride home. Arriving at the house, opposite the turn, look for an American flag in a cluster of mailboxes. You turn on a gravel road. Follow the road around the curve. You will see a driveway split, you take the first driveway.

  • A great time was had by all! Being on the water, grill available and the place was perfect for my 79 year old dad, husband and three sons! We would definitely want to go back.

  • Lisa’s place is located in the perfect setting overlooking the river. A charming home, fully equipped and very roomy. We especially loved using the dock to launch our canoe and small sailboat. The perfect getaway for our family. Highly recommend!

    Ann2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was very peaceful we had a great family getaway. If your looking for a place to relax and drop off the grid this is the place for you. Don’t expect high speed Internet or distractions because this place was made for quiet relaxation. The water is brackish we saw baby jelly fish and stingrays our skate fish. We took the canoe out for a spin and it was quaint. I suggest you plan on cooking or eating at home unless you want fast food. The one restaurant that we went to breakfast at was not good. We played games and relaxes the whole trip.

    Earl2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is an incredible host and makes the stay super easy! The cabin is beautiful and the sights are worth way more than price to stay. The cabin is super clean and everything you need is on-site. If you need anything, Kilmarnock is minutes away. We are usually beach goers but this year I decided something different would be fun. We really enjoyed the R&R we received in Burgess, VA. It was a slow pace vacation and it’s exactly what we were looking for. I have children so you tend to worry they will get board but the boat dock kept them busy as well as the games and of course, the occasional treat of ice cream. We really enjoyed the restaurants and speaking with the locals. They told us about Hughlett beach which we went to. The sand was pearl white and the water was amazing. There were only 5 or so families there so we were able to have space and enjoy ourselves. BTW, Tangier Island rocks! Wi-fi is iffy but it’s a vacation, who cares! Great family spot!

    Brent2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • The place was wonderful—beautiful, peaceful, full of charming antiques, and way bigger than we realized. My kids had tons of fun crabbing off the dock.

    Kelda2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our group of women had a fantastic weekend at Lisa's! The space is perfect for groups. We loved hanging out on the porches and on the dock, cooking meals in the kitchen, and exploring the sites in the Northern Neck. We would definitely stay here again!

    Emily2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, quiet cabin on an equally gorgeous and calm river. Tons of indoor and outdoor space(like the dock or back porch areas) make for great summertime gatherings intended for relaxation. Great for families as well as friends. Very well equipped with essentials and close to a food lion and ABC store(liquor store in VA). Do be careful about the river in mid/late June as there seemed to be a large population of jellyfish that I became well acquainted with — though to be fair I was definitely warned ahead of time!

    Will2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay and the privacy feeling we experienced. There were plenty of places to relax and just enjoy each other’s company. The entire home was well furnished - especially the kitchen. Recommend picking up wine on the way there, otherwise you’ll be forced to make your selection from the local Food Lion. Overall, it was an amazing weekend with the family!

This is a beautiful 15 acre property surrounded by water. It's been in our family for generations, and was part of a 5000 acre land grant given to an ancestor in the 1600's by the king of England. The historic original mansion borders the property. It has a deep water pier, good fishing and crabbing, a fire pit, regulation horseshoes, and a huge lawn for most any activity. It's a great place for couples, solo retreats, families and big groups. Also a picturesque setting for weddings.
  • Nice stay in Kilmarnock. Great views of the water and plenty of space for guests. Thanks, Bart!

    Jared2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing view, old but clean and cute house with all you need!

    Susan2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Don't forget your fishing poles! Live bait can be found at the gas station in town and at Walmart. Fishing off the newly done pier was plentiful.

  • Our group of twelve adults and six kids spent a long weekend here and had a blast. The setting on the river and the outdoor space are truly incomparable. As others have noted, the house itself is quirky and a bit dated, but it was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The house has lots of different gathering spaces which made it perfect for our large group of multiple families. Bart was a great communicator and made our stay very easy.

    Jessalee2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • What a great trip! This house is perfect for large crowds. The property is beautiful, inside is cozy, porches are fantastic, and Bart was incredibly responsive with any question I had. We enjoyed lounging on the dock, playing in the yard, and relaxing on the porch between wedding festivities. Highly recommended!

    Ashley2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Beautiful location!

    Brent2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location! You can’t beat the views from Bart’s house. Easily one of the largest lots on Dividing Creek. We swam off the dock and brought our own boat which is highly recommended! Plenty of beds and seating throughout. Everything we needed was provided. But don’t plan to stay inside too much. Bring the yard games and enjoy the huge yard and water views!

Carolyn has information about the area in the cozy library area and gives personal recommendations when asked. I will return to stay and explore this area again. • Exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The setting is nicely secluded with a water view from the back porch. The morning coffee, muffins and fruit was a nice way to start the day. We’ll be back.

  • A fantastic location to explore all of the Northern Neck & Middle Peninsula area from, as well as a beautiful setting to relax and unwind right on a very serene cove just off the Rappahannock River ... Carolyn & John were the best hosts with several very thoughtful touches all weekend during our stay. Their friendly dog Sally? was also definitely part of the very welcoming team ! One of best AirBnb experiences we have ever had from first contacts, reservation, greetings, knowledgeable advice of the area and its unique history, to daily chats, and a genuine, heartfelt welcome to their home as if we were part of the 'family' made it such a great weekend for my wife and I ... • Kate’s place is very well described. It is roomy and neat as a pin. We will very definitely stay at here again. Kate responds quickly and clearly. Kinsale is a beautiful place to be.

  • I really wish I hadn't been traveling for work so that I could've taken advantage of the lovely waterfront location - the sunrise from the kitchen is beautiful over the water! Kate's home is not only in a great location, but it is extremely clean and well-stocked. Kate provided us with everything we needed for our trip. She was also extremely responsive and accommodating, couldn't recommend this place more!

    Andrea2019-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was a perfect weekend getaway. The cottage has been nicely updated and the view from the kitchen is worth the drive. We have two kids and this was the perfect place for us to crash for a weekend on the Northern Neck. The house is nice but not so nice that you are scared to let your kids touch anything. Very clean with everything you need. It very much felt like home. We enjoyed walking down the docks and watching the wildlife. We grabbed some local crabs and had a feast on the deck/dock. There are a couple places within five minutes that cook them fresh to order (when in season). Overall, awesome trip.

    Phillip2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Two couples who were visiting Kinsale last weekend asked me to find an Airbnb place for them to stay. They couldn't have been more pleased with Morningtide Cottage. The location was perfect, an easy short walk to the village. They loved the view, the layout, and the furnishings. Everything was neat and clean and comfortable. They can't wait to return!

    Alice2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • The place is great! We really loved the view and the water access. I recommend bringing a small boat, rafts, or kayaks. The house was very clean and ready for guests.

    Scott2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing house, can't recommend enough! The area is beautiful and quiet with a private lake dock. The house feels more like a home than like an Airbnb, with great appliances + kitchen cookware (small detail but nice touch). We easily slept 8 people.

This cozy cottage is perfect for couples or the whole family . This space is the perfect beach get away with a full bathroom, kitchenette and an outdoor gas grill with eating space. Tucked away with woods on one side and the beautiful Chesapeake bay on the other side. Lay with windows open at night to hear the waves crashing and walk down to the private sandy beach that is perfect for swimming , playing , fishing or just relaxing
Guests will love the seclusion of this cottage . It is situated on a 1 acre lot a short distance from the main house. It is private and tucked away, but amenities such as public boat launches , stores , restaurants , and the fisherman's museum are just a short drive away.
We have the best of both worlds here. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle with wooded areas and the bay. At times you can stay out here for days and not see a soul or you can go into town and visit the locals. Everyone is friendly and welcomes you with a smile. The sunrises are spectacular and the seafood cant get any fresher .
  • Great stay !! The house is spotless. Our family had fun at the beach.

    Siddhartha2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet location. Beach and trails, peaceful spot, dogs welcome. Ola was present anytime we needed anything, but otherwise let us have the quiet break we needed. If you need to work online while on vacation, you may need to go to the porch of the main house for wifi. I personally enjoyed being offline for a bit!

  • This is an amazing place!!! The host were so welcoming and more than accommodating plus super friendly!! The views and private beach is wonderful! The only draw back for me was the huge birds that I had to worry about my little Yorkie being scooped up by but the host warned me immediately about the danger so all was good just had to keep an extra close eye on him!! My children had a great time and my parents made much needed memories with our family!! Thank you Olga and Chris for being the best host thus far on my Airbnb adventures!!!

    Dana2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at OC's Peace of the Bay was quaint, cozy and overall well accommodating to our party (including our retriever). The bungalow itself was a clean and comfortable sleep, and the couches were great for lounging and playing board games. The first morning in our stay our golden retriever had a bad stomach from drinking bay water and Ola gave us a container of rice to cook up for her and it was a lifesaver as our retriever quickly recovered. Crabbing in the bay was thoroughly enjoyable as well, and we went kayaking in the inflatable kayaks every minute we weren’t waiting out stormy weather or sleeping; we had multiple catches which we took home with us. In addition to crabbing and fishing from the kayaks there was fishing to be had from the shore. It’s amazing to sit by the fire pit and stargaze with the constant wind coming off the bay. A beautiful location and such a quaint bungalow. Ola and Cody were wonderful hosts.

The most relaxing place we have ever stayed and we will be recommending to all our friends in the UK! A very friendly couple and a lovely area if you want a break from the world. • We were in town for a wedding and chose Bluebird cottage for it's proximity to the venue. The location, pool, dock, etc. were definitely a bonus. The most important thing to me is cleanliness. I usually end up cleaning before I unpack at hotels or rentals, but that was absolutely not necessary in this case. The home was spotless. It was well stocked. Our check in was easy. Our host was friendly and super accommodating. He was always quick to respond. The pictures online are nice, but the home is even nicer than the pictures show. Our family of 5 had a very nice stay and would certainly return!

    Mary2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This house provides a restful and peaceful visit. We spent our time catching crabs, watching the Osprey, and relaxing by the pool.

  • Richard and Laura’s place is a wonderful cottage with breathtaking views of the Yeocomico River. The cottage was like a home away from home. The details of it were so warm and cozy. Their hospitality was above and beyond. We enjoyed our stay and our grandchildren enjoyed spending time with Richard and Laura’s grandchildren. We can’t wait to return again.

    Paula2019-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • As stated by a previous renter, the pictures don’t even do justice to how beautiful this spot really is. Rich and his wife (who were great and friendly hosts) have an amazing estate, with a sparkling clean pool and a cottage that is spacious and well equipped for all the cooking we did. Even with Tupperware for meal prep which was a big bonus for us. But the crab traps were a huge hit and was a big highlight during our stay! We went to a beach nearby to do some shark tooth searching and were overjoyed to give some to Rich so others may come to the area and be inspired to do so as well- it was a very special experience for myself, husband, and baby boy. We cannot wait to return!

  • Chris was a great host, and we had a fantastic experience at his house on the water. We brought our dog, and Chris was more than accommodating and helpful. We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience.

    Chrissy2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was super helpful for my last-minute reservation he accommodated my family in every way possible. His home is situated in the sweetest neighborhood. I am actually looking forward to staying again in May with more of my family. The location wasn’t far from the things that I needed and close to my grandparents which was ideal for my stay. Watching the sunset is a must at this property. The neighbors dog can be annoying but that’s small compared to the sense of relaxation you get most of the day. Thank you Again Mr. Mills.

  • Quiet location, friendly host, great view of the bay.

    Edward2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a privately-run B&B that offers truly personalized service. You feel like you're staying among friends. We were traveling with our dog and enjoyed the "Sisters" room, complete with its own exterior door and small patio. We enjoyed a homemade breakfast with Chris and the other guests each morning, everyone sharing stories of our respective travels. We were delighted to take recommendations from the East Coast "locals" on where we should venture next. We loved swimming in the Bay, and taking our dog in one of the kayaks Chris has. The property feels remote with how quiet and tranquil it is, but there are restaurants and markets within a ~10 minute drive.

  • Everything was perfect. The panoramic water around the house, the many windows that open up to the water, the Island with many birds on it across the water, and the perfect house! Kitchen is beyond fully stocked! And the poo was fun too. We hooked up our computer to the large screen TV and got some work done for our Richmond Reproductive Freedom Project retreat. The rooms were great, the board games were great! Everything just great. Check in was a breeze, communication breezy as the bay. Don't skip on this place--it is fantastical. Thanks so much for a stay in your beautiful home!

  • My friends and I had a wonderful experience at Kathy’s house. The house itself is spacious, clean and bright. The bedrooms are comfortable. The house has incredible views. We saw lots of fish, birds and crabs. As a side note there are jellyfish in the river so we didn’t want to swim in there but this wasn’t an issue because there was a beautiful pool with river views. We had the best time! Thank you!

    Elizabeth2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent location and lovely home. Our group of mothers and daughters enjoyed a wonderful weekend. It began with delicious meal at local restaurant (at Kathleen’s suggestion). House was perfect for our needs. Plenty of room inside for our group to play games, chat, prep meals for our party of 12. Setting was nice also, We enjoyed a day pool side and kayaking, enjoyed the view from boat dock and rocking chairs on porch facing river.

    Debbie2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen's home is perfect for a large group. We loved how open the home was, and we spent tons of time in the pool and on the pier. The views from the house and porch were great. If you're looking for a quiet area with lots of space to relax on the water, then this is the place for you.

  • The Farmhouse was a wonderful place to stay for our family! We lived the nice accommodations and the beds were all very comfortable. The heated floors in the master bath was nice since it was cool outside. Everything was clean and there were plenty of dishes and supplies for our stay. The outside property was huge and was fun the explore. A great stay!

  • Amazing is an understatement. The home was beautiful and quaint and had so much for young kids and older kids to play with. We had four toddlers two that were one and two that were 2 and 3. The views were incredible and the kayaks were easy to jump in for a quick ride. The kitchen was beautiful , the pool was great. No cell phone service but WiFi was great. Overall amazing and exceeded all expectations. Will be going yearly!

  • This property definitely didn’t disappoint! The house, condition, amenities, and owner exceeded every expectation. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back next year! Can’t wait.

  • Our stay at the Four Daughters Farmhouse was absolutely delightful. The space was beautiful and clean and the touches added by the hosts were so thoughtful and welcoming. I would definitely recommend to my friends and family.

  • A beautiful house in a beautiful location! Lots to do for a large family including small children. Towns of Kilmarnock and White Stone have some surprisingly great restaurants for such a remote location (recommend Adrift in White Stone, Chao Praya and Car Wash Cafe in Kilmarnock) though the kitchen is so well stocked you can easily cook for a large group without issue. Quiet, serene - just what we were hoping for!

    Rebecca2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Ginny went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent stay. The house is gorgeous and the property is second to none! We had a fabulous time, all of our party had enough space and the amenities of the maze, pool and kayak provided us with plenty to do! An added plus is that the home is close to town, making shopping etc. super easy. Thank you!!!

  • This home was perfect for our annual family vacation. Not only is the property well laid out and tucked away , but it was spotless and well appointed. It felt like we’d chosen the perfect space as it had absolutely everything we needed. We were here during a heat wave and much of our time was spent in the salt water pool keeping us cool. The property has many shady comfortable spots . Whether it be sitting on the back patio -which was shaded throughout the day ,or rocking on the front porch watching wildlife saunter through the front yard nibbling on the fruit from the pear trees out front with our granddaughter , there was always a space to stay cool while still enjoying the outdoors . When those summer storms hit in the early evenings we were able to enjoy the screened in porch and the smell of rain and while eating our dinners out there. Everything about this home felt comfortable and clean. The kitchen was an awesome space for us all to gather and make family meals with it’s beautiful large marble island. Everything we needed was there. We were all in agreement upon the end of our trip that we would love to return and make more memories on this magical property. Our host was very prompt and friendly in her communication with us. Our best Airbnb vacation so far.

  • Look no further! You've found it. An amazing farmhouse with all the character of a historical home with countless thoughtful touches to make you feel warm and welcomed. It is impossible to capture the beauty of the home and property in pictures, or the warm welcome that you feel from the moment you step into the home. It truly lacks for nothing. Seriously, book it. You will NOT be disappointed!

Riverfront home on the Great Wicomico in Virginia's historic Northern Neck region! Enjoy a private dock and a spacious front yard for games. Small, quiet community with a grocery store 10 minutes away, and restaurants, wineries, and breweries within 25-30 minutes. Home comes with two kayaks, two paddle boards, floats and fishing and crabbing gear for guest use. Relax on the water by day and marvel at a sky full of stars at night. A great escape from the city, only 2.5 hours from D.C.
The first floor is open concept with a large great room with dinning and kitchen. Large sliding glass doors provide a wonderful river view and access to a deck with Adirondack chairs, dinning table, grill and hammock. There is also a TV and DVD player for entertainment and a fireplace for cool nights. On the first floor, there is a full hall bath, a bedroom with two single beds, a master bedroom with a queen bed and ensuite bath. The second floor includes another full bath, a bedroom with two double beds and a loft area with couch, beanbag and foosball table. There is also a small book collection, board games and some DVDs. There is Wi-Fi internet, but no cable or over the air TV. Guests can use the Roku connected to the TV, which includes Netflix, Prime TV, HBO, and a few other TV apps. Guests can use the washer and dryer in the basement and the fishing and crabbing gear. There are two kayaks, two paddle boards and water floats--use at your own risk. Please wear life jackets! This is a rural location, in nature. Yes, your phone will most likely still work, but there are mosquitos, ticks and other bugs. They won't ruin your fun, but there is bug spray at the house if you decide you need it. We're sharing our home with you so please be respectful.
The home is located in a quiet community off the Great Wicomico River with a neighborhood boat launch. You are welcome to launch your boat or jetski, however you are not allowed to keep either docked at the neighborhood dock over night. Our dock does allow for a boat to be be docked but the river depth supports only shallow hulled boats (ex: Whaler and pontoon boats and jets skis). There is very little car traffic and on clear nights you'll have an amazing view of the stars--something you'll never see in the city. There is a grocery store 10 minutes away and several restaurants within 20-30 minutes in Kilmarnock, Callao, or Montross. There is also a brewery in Kilmarnock and one in Montross. For wine lovers, there are several wineries in the area. Potomac River beaches are about 40 minutes away. For those interested in venturing farther, Colonial Williamsburg is under 90 minutes away.
  • Wonderful host! Great rims at the rivah and a beautiful house. So many wineries and restaurants close by (20 minutes).

  • Perfect for family reunions like ours. We chose it for location near Reedville fishing harbor, museum and historic homes. Kids loved the big downstairs game room, big TVs, big back yard and pier for fishing and crabbing using the provided equipment. Smores around the fire pit was the favorite time of all! We went to nearby Reedville for seafood dinners and a beautiful sunrise/fishing trip with Heritage Charters captain/owner, Dave Fisher. In a half day, we caught at least 6 or 8 fish apiece and brought home enough for a big fish fry for our large family! Everyone wants to go back next year!

    Suzanne2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful view of the river and great amenities! Our group of 8 had a sensational time indoors and out at River’s Edge! We will happily come again!

  • This home is exactly as advertised. Beautiful, clean, lots of outdoor activities and tools provided. In the garage you will find kayaks, a paddle boat, bikes, and coolers. There is a pier to fish on, it is in an inlet of a creek that flows into the Little Wicomoco. I got some bites but the fish were too smart for me. I did, however, catch a crab and a huge stingray! This was a fun visit!

  • If you're looking for relaxation, quiet, great views, and style, this is it. Erin provides a hospitality and welcome that is warm and inviting. The house is beautiful, and you'll love sitting out on the back deck with the view of the bay. There are belted cows across the road, also. Very bucolic. Just lovely. Minutes from town too with a lovely drive through forested land. A nature preserve close by provided us with a wonderful walk down to the shoreline of the bay. Just beautiful.

  • Erin was a fabulous host! She was so friendly and thoughtful. The house was super clean and beautiful. Great trip!

    Allison2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Erin’s home is like staying in your own home turned into a resort. We came to Kilmarnock for a wedding at the cidery which is right across the street. Her home is perfectly situated close to the water and has easy access to Whitestone and Kilmarnock. Erin was extremely easy to communicate with. She provided extra amenities that made our stay feel like we were staying with family. Her home is beautifully decorated, and is very comfortable for an entire family. If you are ever in the Northern neck area, I highly, highly recommend staying with Erin in her home Moved by the Bay.

    Corey2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this beautiful property. The attention to detail is amazing and Erin the owner makes sure your stay is perfectly comfortable. We have stayed at Moved by the Bay twice already and both times it has been a real pleasure.

  • This lovely home is even better than the description. Beautifully appointed with all the conveniences and comforts of your own home. Kilmarnock offers many activities and excellent dining choices. The owner, Erin, is a gracious host, always ready to assist with any questions or suggestions. Easy check-in/check-out. Why would you settle for a hotel room when you can stay here?

    Taylor2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Very nicely kept, clean as a whistle, and a nice location with a pretty water view. this place is as advertised and reviewed.

  • Moved by the Bay was a quiet, peaceful respite for 2 couples catching up for the weekend. There were several places in and around the house to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and chat. And it's very close to town and other points of interest. Erin is a wonderful host(ess), providing lots of little touches to make us feel welcome. The beds were very comfortable, an important note for those who need a good firm mattress! I would highly recommend a stay here and wouldl definitely come again if we're in the area.

Private beach, expansive views of the Chesapeake as it intersects the Potomac River. Behind the home is the remaining 4.5 heavily wooded acres. Remodeled home that has been finished out with granite countertops, tile all throughout the first floor. 4 bed/2 full bath. Large great room with huge dining room table that seats 10-12 people. This home is our true escape. You'll see as you drive to the secluded neighborhood that there are only a dozen homes on this street. It's nature at its finest.
This home originally was a DC-area doctor and his wife's personal vacation home. We had been looking for a couple years for the perfect beach home on the Bay that felt more like a home and not a smelly cabin. Once we saw this pop up on Zillow we knew we had to have it! We've outfitted it to fit our needs of bringing friends and family with us and think you will enjoy what we've done as well. Also bought some new furniture, mattresses, all new linens, etc... Rooms come with clean sheets already tucked in for you, and a towel and face cloth for each guest to use. We even have toothbrush holders by the sink. The bathtub and shower have shampoo, conditioner and body wash so you don't need to bring your own. Please bring your own beach towels. We do have some beach toys for the kids, and umbrella. If the weather is nice, we have a couple kayaks you can use as well. We have lots of games in the home if weather is bad - card games, connect 4, and children playsets and toys, various books. There are 3 HDTVs with rabbit ears for the major channels. A DVD player in the living room with variety of DVDs to choose from. We do not currently have wifi in the home. We are on the waiting list to have service installed. We do have a cell-phone booster in the home so that you can more easily use cell phone as hotspot if needed.
Very quite neighborhood. Some neighbors live here fulltime some only on weekends.
  • The house is awesome. Had everything we needed. The view is amazing! So quiet and peaceful.

  • Great experience, I wanted to just relax and this was the right choice. It was comfortable, cozy, quiet and very clean. With a glass of wine, a good book and the spectacular view of the water it far exceeded my expectations. Very modern decor and the fully equipped kitchen left me with only one negative, my stay was way to short. I will return with my children and grandchildren to explore more of the area that was recommended and I know the grandchildren will have fun with the pool table.

  • Thank you again to Chris for being an exceptional host at the Rivah House as we have grown to call it. This was our second trip to the river house where I was able to bring some family with me and enjoy the peace and quiet away from our busy city lives. The house was clean, we had plenty of games to play to keep us busy during the rainy weekend. Chris let us know about a great new restaurant that recently opened Horn Harbor that had beautiful waterfront dining and amazing food! We also ventured out into Heathsville, where they had a few antique shops to wonder around. Food Lion is also not too far away and we were able to get some items to cook at the house, as they had plenty of cooking tools for us to use. This is a great place to spend time with your family and we are even thinking about booking for the Thanksgiving or Christmas vacations this year! We look forward to our next visit!

  • What a fabulous house in a beautiful location. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Larry and Mary are delightful hosts with lots of lovely little touches, wine, fresh flowers, drinks etc. The house is so comfortable and perfect for a group of friends. We loved having coffee and watching the changing light on the creek. All was perfect. Thank you so much 😊

  • Wow! The pictures barely do the place justice. Larry and Mary were incredible hosts and the house offered everything our group needed. The views of the water were perfect and the house was extremely comfortable, the couches and the beds. The river access was great, the boats at the house were perfect for us to use, all of the grills were very nice, and the kitchen was lovely. I couldn't say more positive things about our experience at the Rivah house.

  • Selfishly, I don’t want to leave too glowing a review, because this home is such a treasure I fear it will be booked on a future trip. But seriously, Larry and Mary’s home was hands down one of my best Airbnb stays, if not the best. The home is new and sparkling clean. As in, “has anyone else ever stayed here?” clean. The location on a small peninsula is lovely. Larry and Mary met us for a short tour and we were impressed with the thoughtful touches in the home. Highly recommend.

  • This was everything we could've dreamt of and just a bit more for a weekend getaway from the DMV. The house sits right on the edge of the river, which gives you breathtaking views of sunrise and sunsets. The house itself is also just as breathtaking! Gorgeous finishings, great beds, and furniture. They have absolutely everything you need to cook, grill, do s'mores, eat crabs, etc. Plenty of space for everyone! We took the kayaks and paddle boards out that they had and it was so fun! At night, we lit up the firepit and just sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air. Larry and Mary were wonderful hosts. From the time we made the booking, through the trip, they were quick to respond and very easy to communicate with. They seem like lovely people! If you're looking for a relaxing getaway by the water, don't hesitate...this is the place to go.
