  • This was our second stay at Rosie's. We had a great stay again. Its a stylish flat with plenty of room, and everything we needed for an overnight stay. Helpful information about the locality is provided. Lots of interesting places to eat and drink within walking distance. Thank you Rosie.

    Jane2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Rosie's apartment for one night as I was attending a concert in the area that evening. But nonetheless I was made to feel very welcome - the apartment is spacious but cosy, plenty of natural light and quiet enough not to really be aware that Rosie and her family live 'upstairs'. The check-in details were simple to follow too. It's a short 10 minute bus ride from Sheffield train station - ideal! AND there are plenty of local amenities and places to eat as well.

    Paul2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The most amazing host and the most beautiful space. A week of retreat from building works. Rosie couldn’t have made us more welcome. Fabulous!

    Tiffany2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great Airbnb in a fab location for both Ecclesall Road and the city Center. Fit 4 in perfectly, would come again if needing a place to stay in Sheffield

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here. The flat is spacious and very stylish. We couldn’t fault our experience.

    Aaron2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place, exactly as described, but with plenty of thoughtful extra touches. Rosie suggested some great places for us to eat, was an excellent communicator, and the flat was extremely clean and comfy. We had a double air bed, and a double futon, and extra blankets and storage heaters kept us nice and warm. Would definitely recommend.

  • We loved staying at Steve's place. The room is cleverly deigned to make use of the space and comes with lots of thoughtful touches like a record player, tea, coffee, access to the garden and everything you need for a weekend away. Great location in Wirksworth with ample walks and day trips from the doorstep or a short drive away. Planning our next trip back already!

  • Another great stay at the Brew House! We love this cosy and stylish space, and Wirksworth in general! Lots of lovely places to eat, drink and walk.

    Joanna2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Where to start? Sue and Steve we’re away whilst we stayed (would love to meet you both next time!), so we were looked after by Steve’s daughter, Harriet, who was absolutely lovely. She really took care of us and made us feel very at home. On a particularly rainy evening, she lent us a DVD so we could curl up with a bottle of wine, out of the rain! We were so grateful! The minute you open the chunky gate to the property’s garden, you are completely blown away by what I refer to as - The Secret Garden. It’s a garden of my dreams, alive with beautiful plants, antiques and vintage charm. Up some steps, there’s even more garden and it doesn’t disappoint. It’s even given us some inspiration for our own garden! The outhouse is beautiful, the record player, book selection and decor really allows you to have your own private little space away from the world. The Brew House itself is stunning. A teeny tiny cottage which is so cosy. Even though Storm Dennis tried to put a dampener on things, we still felt so relaxed. The Brew House is a gorgeous vintage blot hole and we loved having a record player. We brought our own records but there was also a lovely selection there too! The bed was comfortable and warm, the bathroom is exactly what we needed. There were some lovely touches such as the soap, chocolates, coffee, biscuits and milk supplied, which we were very grateful for. Locally, you HAVE to visit The Feather Star! A stunning micro pub with delicious real ales, records to browse and buy and it was full of interesting and kind people who were all willing to have a chat. Everywhere is dog friendly which was great for us as we’d left our dog with family - it gave us the perfect opportunity to stroke ALL of the dogs! We particularly enjoyed the Hope and Anchor pub who served us a wonderful meal (far beyond what you’d expect from a pub!). We loved Mercia, which is just around the corner and we ended up having breakfast there most mornings! We’re vegetarian and they did a wonderful veggie breakfast!! The Heritage Museum is also worth a visit for those of you who enjoy local history! Le Minstrel gave us one of our favourite meals too, ask to sit downstairs as the chic decor is really pretty and the wine selection is perfect! The StarDisc is lovely - would highly recommend a walk up to it. The views are breathtaking! Only a stones throw away are the beautiful Cromford and Matlock, which we visited for walking and Scarthin Books is an absolute MUST for any book lovers! I honestly can’t recommend The Brew House more, it’s given us one of the best trips away we’ve ever had! Huge thank you to Sue, Steve and Harriet for allowing us to stay and giving us lots of wonderful memories! Xxx

    Fiona2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the cosy& quirky Brew House (and the orangutan in the garden!). We were made to feel very welcome& were showed/told us everything we needed to know on arrival. The bed was very comfy& there were some special touches which were appreciated (including some very tasty chocolates!). We really liked Wirksworth itself - a very nice town with great places to eat& drink & with very friendly people :)

    Elisabeth2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for providing us with a wonderful stay. Steve and Sue are superb hosts & full of information on what is on offer in and around the village. The grounds are beautiful, even in the middle of winter, we had a very relaxing evening in the garden room before going out to dinner. We’ve never had as much fun getting in and out of bed since our childhood. All the best Ian & Sheila.

  • Fantastic little place right in the heart of Wirksworth! Steve was so friendly and accommodating - he gave us lots of tips about the area for our stay which really helped us make the most of our time there! We loved having a drink and listening to music in the cosy snug! We will definitely be staying again!

Designed by eminent Edwardian architect Edgar Wood, the Parsonage House at Thurlstone in South Yorkshire is a delightful Grade II listed family home dating from 1906, situated in a beautiful and peaceful corner of South Yorkshire. I have spent more than a decade restoring the property to its original splendour, creating a stylish but relaxed atmosphere, ideal for both entertaining and unwinding. A spacious building with private garden overlooking the neighbouring Thurston Parish Church and with views extending towards Woodhead Pass - Tourist Board 5 Star Rating. The house makes a perfect location for reunions, family gatherings and those attending a wedding. PARTIES - please contact owner first to discuss. In addition, the village of Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters and now one of the world's most famous centres of literary pilgrimage is just one of many other attractions. Although most visitors are expected to arrive by car, the Parsonage House is also easily accessible by public transport, with a regular train and bus service to Penistone and full bus link from there to Thurlstone. For relaxing at the end of the day, the Hunstman Pub, just a short walk from the Parsonage House in the centre of Thurlstone, in a well-known real ale house, while in Penistone there is a full range of restaurants, including traditional English, Italian and Indian. • Parsonage house is beautifully maintained and very well equipped, the house was clean and super toasty due to the aga. Jonathan is a excellent host and very attentive, we were celebrating a birthday, and he very kindly brought us a bottle of champagne.

Special healthy outdoor space 5 miles from the nearest town. Our Mongolian yurt sleeps 5 and is very warm with a wood burning stove. In the Peak District hills opposite the Duke of York in Pomeroy, it has a seaside themed private underfloor heated bathroom and additional toilet. Guests bring their own bedding and pillows. Towels provided. Sorry no dogs
Fully equipped with wood burning stove, gas hob, kitchenette with crockery and cutlery, fridge and electric sockets. There is a double futon bed and three single mattresses on the floor. The yurt is only 16' diameter so it is quite cozy with five. Please bring your sleeping bags and pillows. Check out is 10 am except by prior arrangement. Please ask before arrival as it can often be later
The yurts are in a field behind Street Farm with a panoramic view of the hills. Near Parkhouse and Chrome, this part of the Peak District is near the border with Staffordshire, and also near the beautiful market town of Bakewell and to Chatsworth
  • Wow! I have never stayed in a Yurt but when I did at Rachels Yurt a few weeks ago I was blown away at the comfort and how warm the yurt was after lighting the log burner! I arrived around 6pm and lit the log burner (which was already ready to go by the host). It was very cold outside and pretty much a storm! I never thought the log burner would be so effective in the yurt! After only 1 hour it was almost like a sauna within the yurt! We had the door open. Rachel turned to to meet me after check-in and after chatting I relaised that I left my sleeping blanket at home. She went home and returned with pillows and a sleeping blanket for me to use! Such a nice lady and a great host! Rachel has another Yurt on her property which is even bigger for rent. This would be great for 6 people in comfort! These are clean, cosy and warm yurts with great hospitality.

    Richard2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely winter break! Really fast responses from Rachel who was great. The fire keeps the Yurt really warm and cosy!

    Lauren2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this yurt. Authentic, traditional Mongolian style which looks and smells great. The woodburner warms it up really quickly and keeps it really hot all night; the kitchen is simple but perfectly adequate; the bed is comfortable and we had a great night's sleep listening to the rain. We will definitely be coming back.

    Bridge2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Cool little yurt, hidden away with a lovely log burner.

    Jack2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful spot for a few days of tranquility!! Once the fire got going it was wonderfully warm, and we made a huge den with all the pillows. Don't forget to bring extra blankets to sleep with. We loved every little detail to the eggs, wine and brioche!! So lovely. The area is incredible, walks nearby, noun opposite, Buxton just down the road. Highly recommended!!!

Charming and comfortable cottage for two located in the guest wing of our long traditional farmhouse. We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience. *IF YOU INTEND TO HIRE THE HOT TUB OR SAUNA, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS AVAILABLE WHEN YOU BOOK* (extra cost - for price see 'other things to note' section) Through its own front door you have a small entrance hall with hanging space for coats, a cosy sitting room with log stove, books and a big flat telly if you need it. This leads to a light and comfortable kitchen dining room. This room, with its glass roof, used to be the old barrel ceilinged wash house with an old copper for heating the water. Now it has a small, simple but well equipped kitchen and a big table where you can relax and watch the cows or sheep wander past. The back door, leads up old stone steps to a tiny patio area with garden furniture, but, of course you can also enjoy the big country garden at the front of the house too. Up the main stairs there is a little landing which leads to a spacious bedroom with the best of the beautiful views across the Peak District and beyond. There is a canopied king size bed with beautifully laundered Egyptian cotton sheets in which you can oversleep and the room's en-suite bathroom has a rainfall shower. We have a large biomass boiler which provides plenty of hot-water and keeps the central heating going whenever you need it so you will be cosy and warm all year round. Walk straight from the door over beautiful Bunster hill to Dovedale and its famous stepping stones, or along the ridge of the Manifold Valley, or beyond, there are so many walks to choose from.
Swallows skimming about, the scent of homemade organic bread and a selection of local and homemade goodies are the things that may greet you when you arrive at our organic dairy farm in the Peak District National Park. Our home is a farmhouse on an organic dairy farm in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Built from local limestone the farmhouse has been added to over the centuries since the 1500's. We run our business in the most environmentally friendly way we can without compromising on comfort for our guests. In 2018 we won gold for Sustainability in the Enjoy Staffs Tourism Awards! We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience (make sure you reserve this when you book your accommodation as it is very popular - and does cost extra).
The farm is set in the most stunning scenery and looks over the valleys of the Peak District. There are three self catering cottages on the farm, but none are overlooked. The village of Ilam is picturesque with beautiful chocolate box Swiss style houses and past the Anglo Saxon church there is Ilam Park, a National Trust property with a lovely tearoom. Our nearest towns are Ashbourne and Leek, both market towns with quirky shops and boutiques alongside the usual shops and supermarkets. There is a host of interesting villages such as Tissington with the best traditional sweet shop ever or Hartington with a delicious farm shop cafe and legendary cheese shop. Further afield there is Bakewell, Buxton, Tideswell and Eyam. We are spoiled for choice with interesting places to visit: Chatsworth; Haddon Hall; Sudbury Hall; Go Ape; Alton Towers; Peak Wildlife Park; Coombs Valley Nature Reserve; Crich Tramway Museum or The Heights of Abraham are just a few. We are really lucky that we have some brilliant pubs and restaurants in the area for a great selection of real ale or really delicious food.
  • Lovely quiet break away just what the doctor ordered, loved the fire and cake was a lovely touch

  • This is a brilliant place to come and relax. A cosy property, great views, lovely hosts. And for us, having access to an electric car charge point was a real plus. Highly recommended.

  • We booked The old wash tub for a final break before back to work after Christmas. The cottage is lovely, welcoming and clean, in a beautiful location. It’s very quiet which is just what we wanted. Alex and rob even had cake waiting for us on arrival which was a really lovely touch! We also loved that the fire was lit and they even had a little Christmas tree in the cottage. We booked the hot tub experience which was amazing. We used it from 6pm and it was lovely and warm all evening, we enjoyed Cava and chocolates with the luxury package and candles and the fire had been lit in the cave, it was amazing! On booking I did think the extras like the hot tub prices are a little expensive, but I’m still really glad we did it, it was a lovely way to spend the evening (and of course it was our decision to book the extras, we where in no way obliged to, we just couldn’t resist!) All in all we have had a lovely weekend and have already told our friends about your lovely place. Thanks Alex and rob!

  • Great cottage and lovely people

    Jayson2019-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • Having stayed in a number of rental cottages over the years, the Wash house, by far, comes at the top of the list in terms of quality of accommodation. Alex & Rob have created a home from home with this place, we would change nothing, top rate.

    Dave2019-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Beechenhill Farm and the Old Wash House is an idyllic location from which to explore the upper reaches of the River Dove. Superb views across the dales and hills from the bedroom the Old Wash House is tastefully decorated, warm and cosy the Log Burner provides additional heat and enhances the relaxing atmosphere. You are guaranteed a comfortable nights sleep in the feature bedroom and the en-suite shower WC and washroom are clean and inviting with plenty of towels. High Recommended

    Andrew2019-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Alex & Rob's place. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The local villages are conveniently located and the apartment is very quiet! Would absolutely recommend to stay there! Will certainly revisit in the summer months!

    Cam2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place to stay, spacious, all the amenities and more, lovely hosts, we couldn’t have asked for a better trip! We were very well looked after, the hosts went above and beyond. The location is stunning and there is so much to do nearby - with personal favourites given from the hosts - and their recommendations should definitely be followed! Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away and we will definitely be coming back.

The Loft is essentially a self contained Studio flat with an external garden space and parking. It measure 15sq/m. Not an enormous space but well appointed with the guests comfort and convenience a priority
Tintwistle is located on the Woodhead Pass, in The Longdendale Valley. This is a primary transport route across the Penine Hills, connecting Manchester to Sheffield and Barnsly. The Village is in the Peak District National Park, one of the oldest national parks in the UK. The scenery is stunning at any time of year, it is a joy for walkers and ramblers or cyclists and motor cyclists. The village is small with less than 1500 people, it has a Pub, a General Store, a Cafe / Bakery, a Cricket team, a Football team and most of the usual attributes of a tiny village. There is a Fly Fishery on Arnfield Reservoir, Clay Pigeon Shooting at Boars Clough Farm, Golf and Tennis at Glossop. The nearest rail station is Hadfield, just over a mile away. It gives you good connection to the main city life in Manchester, Stockport and Glossop - our largest nearby town. Manchester Airport is a 45 minute taxi journey away, giving you connection to the world.
  • Wonderful little bolt hole that I have found. Well proportioned space. Everything you could possibly need for your stay. I was comfortable, warm & cosy. Excellent communication, Tony replied immediately and always on hand if I needed anything. I'll be back, thank you so much Tony. Excellent airbnb. Highly recommended.

    Becky2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Tony’s place completely exceeded our expectations! If you’re looking for a quiet and relaxing getaway, with beautiful scenic walks right on your doorstep- then this little gem is definitely for you. It’s a small space, but tony has thought of absolutely everything that you could possibly need. Most of the touristic towns mentioned in blogs like Bakewell/ Dovesdale are in the south of the Peak District (and Buxton still 40 mins away by car)- so I was a little concerned we might be a bit ‘out of it’ - but Glossop is just on your doorstep which has lots of shops and restaurants if you need them... and for a peaceful weekend away- just being surrounded by the countryside in Tintwistle was perfect for us. I’d highly recommend the Longdendale Trail (although the bike hire shop in Glossop didn’t seem to be open anymore- so you'll have to complete by foot if you haven’t brought one)! Excellent value for money, and a really cozy stay!

    Vicky2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great little Place and have already booked to return.

    Tom2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Tony is a good host and his place is great. It's private, clean and has everything you need. Recomended

    Chris2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The place was incredibly tidy and Tony gave us a few personal touches which we were really startled and happy with, for example, Prosecco in the fridge (as it was Valentine’s Day), he was in constant communication from the minute it was booked to help us decide where to go over the weekend and was very keen to help. Wonderful host and world class service.

    Jake2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a fabulous place in great location definitely worth a visit and Tony is a great host. Our second visit and we will.be back

    Fiona2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem a fantastic flat with everything you need. Tony is a fabulous host and nothing is too much trouble. Location is amazing you are so close to lots of interesting places to visit. The view from the window is picture postcard. Thanks again Tony

    Fiona2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very good three nights at the Hayloft on a short walking holiday in the Peaks in January. Tony was prompt, clear and courteous in his communication prior to my arrival. The flat itself was clean and equipped as described in the listing. I was particularly impressed with the heating and the shower, both of which I enjoyed after coming in cold from walking. The outside steps to access the flat are steep but there is a good light to illuminate them. At the price you would be hard-pressed to find a better self-catering option for the northern part of the Peak District. Definitely recommended.

The Bunker is a quirky retreat for outdoor lovers with the beautiful Peak District right outside your door. A self contained space with private entrance. Excellent walking in all directions right from the doorstep. A old fashioned English pub 300Metres away with real ales and log fire.
Other things to note There is a village shop selling essential supplies in Longnor, a Post Office/deli, 2 cafes and a fish and chip shop (1 mile away). The Pack Horse Inn is 1 mile walk away (closed Mon/Tue) with other pubs in Earl Sterndale, Longnor, Hurdlow and Hartington. Nearest town Buxton is a 10 minute drive away. The Bunker is well equipped for 2 people, don't expect 5 star luxury, but if you fancy a comfy bed, log fire and the country side on your doorstep with a traditional pub a few steps away, then book with us. The Bunker has its own entrance, a sofa bed, log burner with a skittle of coal, sticks and firelighters included. We provide fresh bed linen and towels, kettle, mini fridge, microwave and cutlery and plates. There is a shower and toilet. A short drive away, the historic spa town of Buxton provides both culture in the form of the Opera House, and practicality in the form of the Waitrose supermarket, which is open until 8pm. There are wonderful hikes right from the doorstep to the dramatic peaks of nearby High Wheeldon and Parkhouse Hill, or on to Chrome Hill and the Roaches beyond. The quiet, local roads and the Tissington and High Peak Trails provide more gentle routes for cyclists or walkers in inclement weather.
  • This is a very quirky but superb find! Location is second to none and Paul is an A1 host with superb information before we arrived and great touches like the fresh milk and welcoming beers in the fridge. Would def recommend but if your over 6’ you might have a problem as it’s a very low roof 😀

Paul very kindly showed us the best spots and drove us to the nearest pub for dinner. We could definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quite escape to the Peak District!

    Estelle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Bunker is just as described quirky and cosy with all the basic necessities plus a lovely wood burner to keep you warm. Paul was very quick to answer any questions and provided tips for local amenities and walks. He also came in person to check everything was ok as it snowed on our second day. It was a perfect birthday weekend.

Rambler Cottage was completely renovated in the summer 2019. We think it is about 200 years' old with lots of character. The cottage is situated in a conservation area of Bradwell in the rolling hills of Hope Valley, Peak District National Park. The village and surrounding areas are breathtaking. Castleton is a 30 minute walk away or 5 minute car drive where you will find the infamous Mam Tor. You won't fail to have a relaxing holiday here, unwind and recharge those batteries.
You are booking the whole cottage with a private garden front and back. You will have your own key to come and go as you please and unless you want to see me you won't be bothered your entire stay. There are two double bedrooms, 2nd is a double bed but classed as small double. There is a log burner in the lounge for cooler nights and the cottage has central heating. The kitchen is fully fitted with all the gadgets
There are two good pubs walking distance from the cottage. An excellent chippy, bakery, Post Office and Co Op convenience store. You are also walking distance from one of our favourite restaurants in the area The Samuel Fox. There are so many walks right from the front door. I’ve put an information pack in the cottage and there are lots of leaflets on places to go, see and do. There are also local maps for all those lovely walks.
  • Very lovely cottage. Marieanne was very helpful and accommodating. Easy access to walks in the peaks like stanage edge

    Ish2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat this cottage is! Stylish, comfortable, every detail well thought out! Spotlessly clean! The location is perfect for exploring the High Peaks. We loved every minute of our stay! This really is an exceptional place to stay - we cannot wait to return to the area or any of Marieanne's creations.

    Donna2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is lovely and cosy. It’s a short walk to Castleton and perfect for exploring either by foot or driving around the area. Marieanne is a lovely host and the little touches of leaving dog towels for our lucky pups was much appreciated. We loved coming back in the evening and curling up in front of the log burner as well. Would definitely book again with her. Thank you

    Lisa2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • BOOK BOOK BOOK! From the moment we booked Ramblers Cottage for our minimoon, we knew we had picked the right place! Marieanne was quick to respond and gave us all the information we needed prior to arriving. The house itself is BEAUTIFUL and spotlessly clean! The finishing touches (I won't spoil the surprises) were thoughtful and sweet and really made us feel special. Even Ginny (our cockapoo) was catered for, with a few dog towels! We had an amazing time at Ramblers Cottage, its within easy reach of some great walks to explore the Peak District. Castleton is literally a 5 minute drive away as is Hope Valley. This is the best Air B&B we've stayed in and is truly a gem of a find! Thank you Marieanne for making our minimoon perfect!!

    Amye2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful cottage in an amazing location. Marieanne was so understanding when we didn’t arrive until a day later as the weather was so awful! A really well equipped place to stay. Wonderful to have little touches like a local pork pie and bottle of wine to welcome us!

    Katy2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage, very cosy and if you’re lucky enough to be able to book take advantage. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever.

Owls Loft is a self contained holiday cottage with a private outdoor seating area and paddock. In a tranquil, rural setting, with views of the Cheshire Plain, this is a great place to recharge your batteries. It is well located to visit the Peak District, or get the train into Manchester from Macclesfield or Congleton. There are a number of National Trust properties within easy reach, as well as Alton Towers, Chatsworth House, the antique shops of Leek and the pottery towns of Stoke on Trent.
Owls Loft has a cosy cottage feel, but is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen and shower room are located on the ground floor and upstairs is a sitting room, with log burner, and a double bedroom. Outside there is a private patio seating area and you have exclusive access to a small paddock.
Owls Loft is on the edge of Biddulph Moor, a village in the Staffordshire countryside. We have 2 pubs, 2 shops and a school and we are just a few miles from Congleton or Leek, and any amenities you may need are available in Biddulph, just down the hill. This is a lovely area for walking, and we are just up the road from Biddulph Grange Gardens and country park.
  • The place was amazing. Located in a beautiful country side and the house itself has all the amenities u wud need. They have gone far beyond and thought about how to make ur stay as comfortable as possible. I loved it and wud definitely recommend it to anyone visiting nearby

    Tanya2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place. Perfect for dog owners. Thoughtful touches, dog towels and blankets and little paddock for the dog to run in. Very clean and stylish. Very comfortable. Five stars!

    Louise2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking and thinking is this place as good as it seems ...then the answer is YES and more. Just book it and make sure you are ready to relax and just take it the fresh air and unwind for a few days. My only advice to anyone is to book at least three days and of course visit the local National Trust locations nearby ( 2 within 15 minute drive ).

    Terry2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sue's place was exactly as described in the other reviews, cosy, clean and homely. We stayed for three nights and could have stayed for more, the layout was a clever use of space which made it the perfect size. Owl's loft was equipped with everything we could have possibly needed, which was great especially as we love cooking when we're away. If you are looking for a walk definitely visit Lud's Church, about a half an hour drive away, Biddulph Grange Garden National Trust is also a must see. One thing I would say is if you were looking to visit a pub for the evening you'd probably have to get a cab as the property is down a lane that wouldn't be ideal to walk down. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to stay, great location and very homely.

    Charlotte2020-03-01T00:00:00Z

Sausage Cottage is a beautifully converted pigsty in the village of Ashover. We are ideally located for visiting Matlock, Bakewell , Chatsworth, Hardwick Hall , Haddon Hall and Crich Tram Museum. We have World Heritage sites close by, such as Arkwright's Mill in Cromford, along with a variety of picturesque Derbyshire villages. Sausage cottage is within the village of Ashover , with many walks from the door. The village has 3 Pubs, Post office, café, butchers, grocery store and a gift shop.
No expense has been spared in the renovation of the property , from a bespoke kitchen, locally reclaimed timbers , the log burner, beautiful light fittings and furnishings.
Ashover has won Calor village of the year on 2 separate occasions. We have 3 excellent village Pubs, all of which serve food .The Poets corner is a real ale establishment and also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner . Stamp Cafe is open 7 days a week from breakfast to 4pm. Marsh Green Farm Shop is also worth a visit and serves lovely food, has a deli counter and a butchers shop . We also have our own village butchers which sells dry groceries, home made ready meals and excellent pies . Not forgetting The Tuck shop for home made baking , bread , eggs, sweets, ice cream and gifts . There are many beautiful local walks right from the door , along rivers and streams , through fields and woodland. Ashover is a great location for road cycling , with many quiet country lanes from the village and mountain biking is very popular here too .
  • I can’t say anything nice enough about our stay at Sausage cottage. The place is immaculate, and Lindsay, the host, incredibly thoughtful. We stayed as we had some essential safety works to be done at home. The cottage is perfect, and absolutely everything has been thought about for any kind of stay. Thank you again Lindsay.

  • We were so happy with our stay at the Sausage Cottage. Everything about the space and the surrounding is just amazing. The cottage itself is a wonderful space with thoughtful touches throughout, meanwhile you’re right on the doorstep of some amazing nature and with great walks being so accessible. Last but certainly not least, Lindsay is a great host and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Highly recommended!

Panoramic Views: Cosy up next to the log burner or pamper yourself in the wood-fired hot-tub under the stars. This fabulous, cosy barn conversion is compact, bijou and perfect as a romantic retreat for two. Gaia Lodge, a former piggery, nestles in an elevated position on the Derbyshire and Staffordshire border which falls within the southern area of the Peak District National Park. Gaia Lodge boasts panoramic views of the undulating countryside, dotted with natural hedgerows and dry stone walls; so characteristic of the Derbyshire Dales. It can be found 165 yards away from the family run caravan and camping site of Upper Hurst Farm, which has been awarded the coveted Environmental Quality Mark award. The warm, gritstone cottage has been renovated with much love, with exposed Douglas fir King-post trusses, stone flag flooring and a log-burner for cosy nights in. Logs are provided free of charge as is WiFi. Inside the Cottage: The cottage is lavishly furnished with hand-made linen curtains and blinds, goose-feather & down pillows and duvet. We also have Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels, fluffy dressing gowns and a mini-breakfast hamper on arrival. It is enhanced further by fully controllable underfloor heating for toasty toes! The kitchen has a granite worktop with quality fixtures and fittings and modern appliances, including a dishwasher. There is a stone-flagged seating area with a westerly aspect overlooking Ecton Hill which includes a washing line. Outside the Cottage: There is a small, gated and walled garden with a north-west aspect where you can enjoy the last drop of evening sun. This garden leads to a further completely private, decked patio area (south-west facing and becoming a little sun-trap) with a red cedar, wood-fired hot-tub, to provide a truly special and memorable stay. Within the decked patio area there is also a gas-fired barbecue and seating with sun-loungers.
"What a little gem – in every way. Sue has created a relaxing and luxurious little retreat. The lodge is beautifully and lovingly decorated and furnished. Sue has thought about your every need and equipped the lodge accordingly. The hot tub is absolutely fantastic – especially during November. Sue is so kind and generous and there to help if needed but not in any way intrusive. The local walking is stunning and there are plenty of places to visit locally including good pubs and restaurants. Sue – you should be incredibly proud of your glorious lodge. A high thank you from us both xx" - John and Steph - Derby
We are very rural and in the centre of a Derbyshire Dale (1 mile) and a Staffordshire Dale (1 mile) so there are walks and cycle rides immediately from the site. We are also very central within the four major Peak District market towns of Buxton, Bakewell, Ashbourne and Leek all about 10 miles away. Chatsworth House and Matlock are about 12 miles.
  • Had an amazing time here. Lodge was amazing and the hot tub was lovely. Definitely would come back again.

    Jenny2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Susan was a great host, and was very welcoming. It was perfect for us and our weekend away with the dogs. We will definitely be back. The hot tub is a great addition! Thanks

  • We stayed at Gaia Lodge for 4 nights in February with our 10 month old daughter. We had a great stay, it was cosy and very clean with everything you could need for a trip to the Peak District. The location is great, close to public footpaths for walks and the Manifold Trail to cycle. We loved the hot tub and went in each night, it’s also lovely to have a log burner in the lodge when it’s cold outside. Sue is a lovely host - she couldn’t have been more helpful.

    Lewis2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy cottage in the middle of a stunning landscape, the perfect place to escape to for a few nights. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well stocked, the hot tub is of course a great addition! Susan was a great host, showing us around when we arrived and explaining how everything worked. She is clearly passionate about making people feel welcome and sharing this special space with newcomers. I would definitely return!

Charming, cosy stone cottage on the outskirts of Wetton, adjacent to a pre 1700 farmhouse. Lovely views of surrounding countryside. Great base for exploring this beautiful part of the White Peak, very popular with walkers and cyclists. Ideal for couples or single guests. Has a galleried double bedroom with shower and toilet. Downstairs there is an open plan sitting/diner with kitchen area. Featuring beamed ceilings. Small south facing sitting out area and off road parking.
Well behaved pets are welcome but please bear in mind that Wetton is a working farming village and livestock will be around various fields throughout the year. Pam and Joh your hosts have lived here for 33 years and are keen to share the information they have gathered over time with you/
Wetton is so well centred at the heart of the White Peak and is surrounded by stunning hills and dales, which just have to be seen. The village also benefits from a great pub serving guest ales and an award winning village hall tea rooms.
  • This place is amazing and glad I went with it. It's super clean and John is an amazing host and answered all our questions . We don't drink so John also threw in some sparkly shloer which we thought was very thoughtful . The place is lovely and really cosy. Would definitely recommend!

    Farhana2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely weekend at Fred’s shed. The accommodation is great value for money. There are so many thoughtful touches that add to the experience. The communication from John was first class. We had arranged to arrive fairly late but John still made himself available to tell us everything we needed to know about the cottage, the village and the local area. His knowledge and enthusiasm was marvellous! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The gate house to anyone planning a couple of nights in the wonderful Peak district.

    Russell2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • John is an exceptional host, we had very warm welcome and John gave us great local tips which we used. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed including nice electric stove that kept us warm and cosy. The nature and all walks were on our door step - the beautiful Dove Valley and caves . We used the car only once to go to a near village pub, the Black Lion in Butterton , that had amazing food and has very friendly local atmosphere. The Royal Oak in Wetton was lovely and very friendly. Had breakfast in the Tea Room in the village - excellent! In all it was great stay!

    Ola2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Had the most relaxing stay beautiful place in a tiny village if you value peace and quiet this is the place ideal base for walking or cycling . Lovely touches when you arrive fresh bread, milk, butter and small bottle of fizz. The village has a pub which is ideal, no shops which for me I loved. Would highly recommend as a single traveller very safe and the local people are so friendly, a place to turn your mobile off get back to the great outdoors and take in all the countryside has to offer

    Robert2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Johns place “Fred’s Shed” was a beautiful, peaceful place to stay for a thoroughly relaxing time . John is the most friendliest host and the welcome he gave us was lovely. We highly recommend the local pub for friendliness and definitely for the food as the old school tea rooms for breakfast. The views are totally gorgeous around Wetton. Thankyou for a lovely weekend.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay at John and Pam's Airbnb. We were blown away by the many thoughtful touches on arrival and they gave us all the local tips we needed to make the most of the area. The place itself is lovely - clean, cosy, had everything we needed and was in an ideal location for enjoying the Peaks. We loved everything about our stay.

  • John and Pam's cottage is an absolute gem, the welcome we received as we entered the cottage on the evening of Valentine's day was so incredibly thoughtful with 2 roses and a platter of valentine's nibbles, candles (though bring your own matches!), heart fairy lights and a well stocked fridge of butter, bread, eggs and milk was so much more than we could have expected. The cottage was plenty warm enough in the middle of storm Dennis, and has a wonderfully cosy feel to it in general. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Swallows skimming about, the scent of homemade organic bread and a selection of local and homemade goodies are the things that may greet you when you arrive at our organic dairy farm in the Peak District National Park. Our home is a long traditional farmhouse on an organic farm in the beautiful Peak District National Park. Built from local limestone the farmhouse has been added to over the centuries since the 1500's. We run our business in the most environmentally friendly way we can without compromising on comfort for our guests. In 2018 we won gold for Sustainability in the Enjoy Staffs Tourism Awards! We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience (Please reserve this when you book your accommodation as it is very popular - it does cost extra).
The farm is set in the most stunning scenery and looks over the valleys of the Peak District. The cottage is one of three on the farm, but none are overlooked. The farm is secluded and quiet.
  • We really enjoyed our stay, certainly recommended. Lovely and clean, and with beautiful views. We really enjoyed the log fire and the Christmas tree.

Hosts were so warm and welcoming and we had a brilliant time - thank you so much!!

  • Me and my friends had the most wonderful time at the Beechenhill Farm! The cottage is really beautiful and cosy, beds are incredible comfortable, great water pressure and all cleaning products are environmentally friendly, we really appreciated all the attention given towards sustainability and felt the connection with nature here. We had a night we will never forget in the hot tub and sauna and can’t thank Alex, Rob, Terry and Sue Prince (your paintings are beautiful!) for the amazing hospitality - they took really really good care of us and we felt incredibly welcomed. We got to see a calf that was born on the night we arrived which was magical. The area is of outstanding beauty and we will cherish our memories from our weekend there forever. Can’t thank you enough for everything!

  • Sally's apartment was a great find! The home is on a hillside that feels outside the urban bustle and the studio is cozy and well-equipped. Sally met us at the door with a smile and gave a quick tour. Her notebook of guest information was prolific, and coming and going were easy. If you're driving, especially, this is an outstanding home base from which to visit the area.

  • Sally’s apartment is lovely very clean and a good place to relax at the end of the day. The area which it is located was perfect and had everything you needed nearby.

    Jasmine2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect find for a multi night stay. the room is a little smaller than the photo's portrayal but there is absolutely ample space for 1-2 people to relax and wind down after a day’s busying. Plenty of light during the day and warm at night. Stay was made all the more comfortable with Sally allowing me to keep my bike inside the apartment which as someone who travels with their bike a lot is immediate brownie points! :)

  • Lovely little place perfect for a couple of nights. Bit far out of Buxton but would’ve been easy to walk if the weather had been better for the weekend. Kitchen was well equipped but no frying pan, not a big bother though and the lighting in the bathroom was amazing. Altogether a comfortable and lovely trip away.

Moorhay Retreat is a little gem situated in an elevated position with wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. It lies within the hamlet of Wigley and is accessible to many nearby villages, towns and cities sitting on the very edge of the Peak District National Park. Moorhay Retreat will not disappoint. Outside the property really has the wow factor, with the seating area and hot tub having the most wonderful views to enjoy whilst relaxing in a bath of bubbles !
  • Had a lovely weekend here, it was our anniversary and due to the current climate we had to bring our children, all of us enjoyed it. The hot tub was great, stylish modern place. Will definitely be back again, hopefully child free!

  • Lovely stay in a good location. Very near to nice local areas such a Bakewell. When we arrived Sam mentioned that there was a slight problem with the hot tub but he was working hard to fix it which ultimately he did in a fast manner. I don’t see this as a negative as Sam communicates this with us before our arrival. Would definitely stay again and have recommended to friends. Hot tub is a great touch 👍🏻

  • Really enjoyed our stay at the cottage, perfect space for 2 people with a dog! The cottage was easy to find, in a great spot for walks and super cozy in cold wet and snowy weather. Jenna was a flexible host who was easy to contact and ensured lights were left on for us to find the house ok as we arrived very late. Perfect last minute getaway to relax and unwind. Would stay again!

  • A lovely cosy cottage which is perfect for a couples getaway. Great amenities, included a slow cooker and toastie maker as well which was a good surprise! The hairdryer was very powerful which was great for my thick hair. Great location if you want walks right on your doorstep. Convenient car parking space right outside the front door. Lovely personal touches which included a delicious cake, eggs and milk. Communication was excellent with Jenna and replies were incredibly prompt which made conversing very easy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook full meals and we all loved sitting in front of the fire in the evenings. Would highly recommend the tapas menu at the Bridge Inn. A real hideaway for two, tiny warm and peaceful, in its own walled garden with not another house in sight. We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience. *IF YOU INTEND TO HIRE THE HOT TUB OR SAUNA, PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS AVAILABLE WHEN YOU BOOK* (extra cost - for price see 'other things to note' section) Once a stallion pen, Beechenhill Cottage now has a mural ceiling with vines and doves, a canopied bed and a real fire for cosy evenings. Oversleep in the delightful bedroom with its old polished pine and king-sized canopied bed. Bed linen is beautifully laundered pure cotton. There is a well equipped kitchen with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. You can snuggle up to the coal-burning stove in winter and watch the TV with integrated DVD player. There is also a radio with an iPod docking station along with books and maps from which to choose the best walk.
We have a Swedish hot-tub and barrel sauna in the farmhouse gardens which can be booked and hired by guests for a unique elemental experience (Please reserve this when you book your accommodation as it is very popular - extra cost).
The farm is set in the most stunning scenery and looks over the valleys of the Peak District. The cottage is on the farm site with two other self catering cottages on site, but is very secluded and not overlooked. Quiet, with no neighbours, the only passers by might be cows, hens, or two naughty goats!
  • Beechenhill cottage is absolutely stunning, we found ourselves being mesmerized by the hills which are surrounding the cottage. The cottage is very well equipped, with everything you might need. Bed is very comfy and the hosts are incredibly attentive and friendly. Make sure to do either sauna or hot tub experience and order the freshly made bread, it is delicious as well as other produce you can purchase from them.

  • Little Barn is a lovely place to stay and really great value for what it offers! The hosts were very welcoming, helpful, and kind. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the bathroom (plus a second extra toilet) was sparkling clean and the shower is very spacious! The entire space was very well heated even when we were visiting in winter. The location is lovely, with some views just as you walk out of the driveway. And it's in the middle of the Peak District so easy to explore anywhere from here. Just remember to bring bedsheets, duvet/sleeping bag, and towels! The bunks in the bedroom took me back to my school camp days, very quaint! The bedroom is spacious and can easily fit the luggage of six people (there are six beds total).

Rainow is a beautiful village and civil parish in Cheshire, England, in the valley of the River Dean and next to the B5470 road between Macclesfield and Kettleshulme. It straddles the eastern side of the Peak District border of Derbyshire and Cheshire. The area is popular among nature observers, walkers, cyclists and para-gliders as well as those looking for romantic stays. The village lies in Cheshire's portion of the Peak District, just North East of the substantial town of Macclesfield; but visitors would never know it, for the hill of Kerridge shields Rainow on the Western side, while to the East, rise some of the highest of the region's peaks - Cat’s Tor and Shining Tor.  The ridge here at “The Tors” marks the parish boundary, (it's a large parish for a small village) and offers wonderful views across the Goyt Valley, with its reservoirs and forests.  Views from Kerridge are no less spectacular, stretching right across the Cheshire plain to the Welsh mountains.  "Rainow" derives from the Old English for "Raven Low" - "low" meaning "hill" in these parts  - and it is an indication of how bleak an environment this would have been in ancient times.  Nevertheless, the village was right at the heart of things, for ancient trackways met here, in the days when ridges were the best places to run packhorse routes; one went North along Kerridge, (literally, "Key Ridge") while an all important route for Cheshire salt ran West-East.  These ancient ways now make for great walking; the Gritstone Trail also skirts the village, while a veritable maze of local paths can take the walker in any direction, to Windgather Rocks, Tegg's Nose, Pym Chair - resonant names for extraordinary places.  At Tegg's Nose Country Park, a few miles South, there is a visitors' centre and a fascinating archaeological trail to follow on foot. The most prominent local feature, (and great short walk destination) is White Nancy, a folly standing at the Bollington end of Kerridge.  Originally the site of a beacon that would have been lit to warn of foreign invasion, the strange, bell-shaped structure was built to celebrate victory over Napoleon, and was a summer house.  Today it is simply a solid lump of a structure, but it has always been painted white.  The origin of "Nancy" is not certain, but may have been taken from the name of one of horses used to pull building materials up the very steep hill. There are numerous ancient standing stones and bronze age tumuli dotted around the area, testament to an unbroken line of settlement, though the village itself did not really get going until the 18th century, when the River Dean was first used to power early cotton mills.  Two of these venerable buildings still stand; Ingersley Vale Mill, built in 1809, was famous for having the second largest water wheel in the country - beaten only by the great Laxey Wheel, on the Isle of Man.  Rainow's prosperity was short-lived, however, as Bollington, only a mile away, had access to the newly dug canal and thus supplies of coal to fuel new, steam-powered mills.  The coming of the railway to Macclesfield did even more to drag the centre of industry away to the West, so that today one would never guess as to the village's industrial past. Coal was mined in the 19th century out of the East side of Kerridge. One of the mines was known as the California drift mine, after one of the local Vare family that had taken part in the Gold Rush there in 1849. The name was shortened to Cali; the stretch of the River Dean that runs along the foot of Kerridge is still known locally as Cali Brook. The Quebec drift mines were dug on the South slope of Big Low, named, again after another Vare family member who had worked in Canada. Quarries are still a feature of the West side of Kerridge, but the predominant view all around Rainow is heavily rural; green pastures, woods and trickling streams. At The Oaks, an area of woodland near Thornsett farm, there is a remnant of the ancient woodland that would have once covered these hills; the oaks in question are Sessile Oak, an upland species, clearly differing from the Common Oak found on the Cheshire Plain. While it may lack shops, the village is blessed with a fine selection of pubs:- on Macclesfield Road, The Highwayman is a traditional 17th century country pub, serving Thwaites bitter and excellent home-cooked food. The Rising Sun offers equally fine ales and  food, while The Robin Hood Inn on Church Brow is open all day for  food and drink, seven days a week.  It has a function room for up to 80 people, making it ideal for large gatherings. At Common Barn Farm there is a tea shop catering for ramblers on the Rainow Ring walkers' footpath.  Jane Osmond's Studio/Gallery at Cesterbridge Cottage, Kerridge End is open to visitors between 10am and 5pm on weekdays. Jane produces original prints, mostly etchings and silk-screens of our local landscape, and teaches the print technique at her studio. For the superstitious, or the ghost hunters among you, the historical records reveal two oddities:- "Two Rainow women, Ellen Beech and Anne Osbalderton, were hanged after the 1656 Michelmas Assizes at Chester for practising "certain arts from which wicked and devilish acts certain people of Rainow fell ill and died"."
  • Exactly as described! Lovely cottage with an uncanny calm and quiet ambiance! I totally enjoyed my stay . A Very responsive and considerate host. One slight caveat :the phone signals were almost nonexistent; 02 & three which I use , but didn’t make much of a difference for me as the internet was spot on excellent so I could communicate with the outside world through wtsap/skype. Netflix was an added plus ; internet as I mentioned was ample fast as you would like it to be! Overall it was a lovely stay . A Big thanks to Micheal.
