  • Katie’s studio was perfect for my husband and I. Beautiful sunrise outside the front door was a special treat!

  • Beautiful view. You'll definitely want to spend some time hanging around the space. Small place with beautiful Costa Rican decoratives. There is a bit of noise coming from passing cars, since the studio is right on the street. There's no AC and so it can get quite warm, however there are too large fans to keep cool. Katie was kind and provides a local guide to getting around Golfito. I would absolutely come back.

  • The highlight of the place is the view you have (you cant see it from inside) , the garden is adorable, there was any stove to cook, near of everything, very satisfied!

  • Beautifully decorated small guest suite with amazing view from the patio. We called to get directions when we got to Golfito and were immediately met at the Banana Bay Restaurant parking. The communication is great and the towels are so soft!

  • If you are looking for a peaceful and comfortable place in a stunning location surrounded by nature, you should definitely visit Cesars personal paradise. The house is very nice and clean, kitchen very well equipped with all new utensils, there are fans as well as the airconditioning. The terrace is also very nice and spacious. The property is full of fruits and surrounded by nature and wildlife. There is a beautiful river just a few minutes walk from the house, with clean, crystal clear blue water... all to yourself! Great for swimming, exploring, trekking and im sure you could find a heap of wildlife out there too. You feel like you have this whole Jungle Oasis/Paradise to yourself. Its exactly the sort of place we we were looking for for our Costa Rica trip. The host (Cesar) is very helpful and friendly, he genuinely cares about the guests and their experience. He includes cleaning services too. We have been in Costa Rica for two months doing a lot of air bnb , and this was definitely the best place we stayed at. We were only upset that we didn't find it sooner as it would of been great to stay longer. We will return whenever we come back to Costa Rica... Definitely recommend!!!!

A simple rustic cabaña at a walking distance to an authentic quiet beach on a 40 acres reserve where you can observe a lot of wildlife. Cañaza is a little village with a football field, a couple of churches and a general store. Corcovado touches Cañaza and the Golfo Dulce is lovely! We can provide you with a cooler and a gaz stove if you would like to cook something or we can also offer some healthy tropical meals.
Rustic cabin with a bed, a kitchen and a shower. The beauty lays outside!!!
Cañaza is an authentic costarican village with small scale farmers and Fishermans. The beach is very quiet, you might only see a cow on the beach certain days.
  • This place is a little slice of paradise! We loved our stay here. It’s clean and comfortable, with a beautiful jungle back garden. We spent our days on the beach just down the road, fishing and dolphin spotting and walking through the jungle listening to monkeys. If you want peace and quiet in a beautiful part of Costa Rica, then we can’t recommend highly enough! Thank you Maria.

  • We loved our stay at this sweet Cabina, it has all you need and nothing more. We enjoyed the beach and swimming in the Golfo dulce down the road and waking up to the monkeys in the morning :) if you are looking for peace, quiet, and simplicity this is the place for you!

  • Very simple, but great location and with possible family connection and food. A lot of peace and privacy, very close to the sea, walks with river, pond, forest. Rich wildlife right by the house. Fresh fruits straight from the farm. Thank you for the hospitality!

  • It was absolutely magical to spend a week here. The hosts showed us many beautiful places and food in the area. They often invited us to dinner with them and made us feel at home. We had a lot of pleasant conversation with the hosts and the locals in the village. I liked to adjust to the rhythm of life here. Between the ocean, the forest and the mountains, it is a paradise for nature lovers. Having said all this, there are some caveats. This is in the field, so there are MANY insects (too big). There are MANY animal sounds throughout the day and night (it cost me a bit of adjustment). Every morning, around 5 in the morning, we were awakened by the sounds of several monkeys passing by. For me, those things did not detract from me in the least and I loved the experience.

  • Franz's spot was a great place to decompress after hiking out of Corcocado to Los Patos. The nearby beach was lovely and breakfast was great.

  • This was one of our best stops in Costa Rica. The cabina was very comfortable and the beach was beautiful. We saw dolphins and manta rays jumping and snorkeled with large sea turtles. Franz cooked us some great meals each day and made us feel welcome.

  • Great value, it’s 50 meter from the beache of Playa Blanca, a village with 50 houses, one vendor, one restaurant and one bar..It’s a place to stay put and enjoy the beach, close to Puerto Jimene and the road to Bahia Drake. We stayed in a big tent with bathroom and a extra ventilator. Nery was very helpful and kind and Franz was welcoming. They manage a restaurant that offer fresh fish dishes which I recommend. The restaurant is the common area, but Nery has also a garden with several kinds of trees. Thank you again for having us !

  • This is a very peacefull place. The people in the area all know each other and are very friendly. The owner of the place is a professional swiss cook. He has a restaurant on the premises and makes a lovely breakfast. For dinner he made me something different every day. His Costa Rican wife also cooks and made lovely traditional Tamales. The beach which is just a few steps away is very calm and the water is nice and warm.

  • Surprisingly easy to find, despite google maps not showing any roads, and it's so cool to be right next to the Golf and surrounded by all kinds of wildlife (tons of scarlet Macaws!). Our hosts were super sweet and fun people, and the breakfast was hearty, delicious, and authentically Costa Rican. The pictures were misleading, though as they all show the physical cabin, while our stay was actually in more of a large tent built into a permanent structure (That wasn't pictured at all in the listing), so it felt a bit more like camping than a cabin. Fortunately, I love camping, so I enjoyed hearing jungle sounds all night, but it wasn't quite what was advertised. Wifi was also barely fast enough to send an email and only available in the restaurant, so it wasn't quite my chance to get work done that I thought it would be. But, that said, while the description wasn't accurate, this was easily one of my favorite stays in Costa RIca. The good folks, rich wildlife, and unique area definitely made up for it!

We hade very warm welcome and a hearty breakfast. Very good value for money. We highly recommend this place.

  • Perfect place just outside of puerto Jimenez. We used this as a base point to take trips to Matapalo and that area. Anthony was a kind and easy host. The house is super cute, cools down at night, and it had everything we needed. I used the internet to teach my online classes and it worked great. We will be back!

  • Hosts are incredibly nice, above the average really. Ask them also to show you the pet crocs who live in the backyard pond... The place is rustic, not posh at all, but it's part of a real costarican adventure in contact with nature. I was perplexed at the beginning, then loved it.

  • Nice house as in the description, just minutes from Puerto Jimenez The family is adorable and attentive Very pleasant stay

  • My stay was very pleasant, even though the host was not there, the family welcomed us and attended excellent. There were problems with the tv cable and they immediately solved the problem. The only drawback is at night there is no privacy as there are no curtains and clearly seen through.

  • We had a nice time in Anthony’s jungle house. The location is great and we even met a really pretty frog in our house. Would definitely recommend!

  • Really lovely family and little place to stay in Puerto Jimenez. They were always available to answer questions and it was a very quiet and cute place to sleep!

  • We use Anthony's place as a base during our stay in Puerto Jiminez. Anthony was the perfect host. He picked us up from the airport and dropped us back. He gave us lots of local info. The guide he suggested for our trip to Corcovado was outstanding. Similarly the guide he suggested for our trip to Matapalo was also very good. Anthony went above and beyond to help us and to make our stay comfortable; although he was super busy, he drove me into town to pick up dinner because it was raining.

Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre is a small town around 300 people. The town is famous for its gold mining and proximity to Corcovado National Park. A couple years ago a park trail for Corcovado National Park (not park entrance) was opened so guests could access the park. This has increased tourism and the town has started to flourish, and is an example of how rural tourism can be successful. Dos Brazos has been characterized as one of the last few remaining towns in Costa Rica that has not been overridden with tourism. Visiting Dos Brazos is an authentic experience and you will feel like you just visited a town that was from 50 years ago. Location We are located approximately 12km from Puerto Jimenez and the fresh clean air and water make for a much different experience than staying in the larger well known town of Puerto Jimenez. Dos Brazos is located in the foothills, of the Osa Peninsula bordering Corcovado National Park along the Rio Tigre (tiger river). Dos Brazos is off the beaten path yet very close to everything you need. Puerto Jimenez is where you can find beaches, fishing, surfing, restaurants, stores, transportation and a wi-fi internet connection. GOLD MINING HISTORY LOS OREROS DE OSA Today, the Osa Peninsula is world-renowned for its extensive biodiversity, however, not too long ago, the landscape was notorious not for its lush greenery, but an entirely different color altogether: gold. For years, dating back to the early 1500’s, there has been much speculation that the Caribbean and Costa Rica in particular were laden with gold and other riches. In 1502, Christopher Columbus became the first European to cross the Atlantic on his fourth and final voyage and settle in what is now considered the Limón region on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. During his explorations, Columbus was most impressed by the ornate gold jewelry worn by the indigenous people who inhabited the area. It was this discovery in addition to the dense natural landscape that many historians believe led Columbus to coin the country’s name Costa Rica or “Rich Coast” as it translates in English. Yet, despite early speculation of the potential riches to be unearthed in this previously unchartered territory, gold was not discovered in Costa Rica until more than 300 years following the Spaniards’ arrival in the region. Unlike other Central and South American countries such as Mexico, Bolivia and Peru which were exploited as precious metal providers during this colonial period, Costa Rica primarily sustained its economy through agriculture. Large-scale gold mining didn’t begin until the 1820’s, though it soon declined shortly after in the 1840’s. It wasn’t until the 1930’s when gold was discovered on the Osa Peninsula that the industry was later revived, spurring gold fever to sweep the country once again. For many years, Osa was considered “el lugar indeseado,” or “the undesired place” as it translates in English, due to it’s intense untouched landscape and lack of inhabitants. However, with the discovery of gold in the region, a great migration to the Peninsula ensued as many fortune seekers flocked to the area with hopes of striking it big mining for gold. Many of those who migrated to the area were non-conformist refugees from other Caribbean nations seeking refuge from the tyrannical rule of their national governments along with former banana plantation workers from the Limón region seeking work following the closing of many of the United Fruit Company plantations during this time. The Peninsula was one of Costa Rica’s largest gold-bearing regions until the late 1980’s and was known for producing exceptionally high-grade natural gold with a purity above 21 carats, considered to be very high for natural gold deposits and some of the purist found in all of Central America. As a result, throughout this “gold rush period,” the region experienced a large economic boom fueled by artisanal gold prospecting. Unlike other gold mining zones of Costa Rica, however, Osa was unique in that gold was not only abundant in the mountainous regions but also littered river banks throughout the Peninsula in sedimentary form. Sedimentary gold, in contrast to larger gold nuggets, can be extracted in an artisanal process known as gold panning, a labor intensive method that utilizes a sieve or gold pan to separate the precious metal out of sand and gravel. This artisanal form of mining was the primary method adopted by many of the local gold miners, known locally here in Spanish as “oreros”. The community of Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre was one of the major gold mining communities settled on the Peninsula due to its location positioned between the two arms of the Tigre River and on the outskirts of the mountainous jungle landscape of what is now Corcovado National Park. During this time, the Tigre River was said to be one of the rivers with the largest concentration of naturally occurring gold deposits in all of Osa. As a result, for many years the primary economic activity of the families who settled here was artisanal gold mining. Yet, due to speculation of the abundance of gold to be found in the area, along with these artisanal gold miners came extensive foreign commercial mining operations. Unlike the practices of artisanal gold miners, however, the operations of mining firms utilized extensive machinery to extract gold. Due to the nature of these commercial practices, these large scale operations had a dramatic impact on the surrounding area, reshaping much of the formerly untouched landscape of the Peninsula. This not only resulted in the destruction of many wildlife habitats in the region, which consequently caused many species to become endangered, but also had a significant environmental impact as a result of deforestation and landslides which altered forest lighting and effected local temperatures. In response to this extensive environmental damage, in 1975 then President Daniel Oduber established Corcovado National Park, a protected conservation territory of the Osa Peninsula that spans nearly 1/3 of the region’s terrestrial landscape. With the formation of this protected territory came significant government effort to eradicate any extractive activities within the park's limits and, by the early 1980’s, the government completely banned gold prospecting in all forms and began to heavily enforce these regulations within this restricted territory. While this legislation improved environmental conditions in the long run, for many locals, the immediate impact was overwhelmingly negative, resulting in widespread unemployment. Dos Brazos was one of the communities most effected by this new regulation, as many locals were prohibited from practicing the primary activities that enabled them to generate income to support their families for so many years. THE OSA PENINSULA A NATURE-LOVER'S PARADISE The Osa Peninsula, a lush remote location tucked away along the southern tip of Costa Rica's Pacific coastline, is one of the country's finest hidden treasures, praised for its tropical landscape of unparalleled richness and exceptional biodiversity. Osa was one of the last frontiers to be inhabited in Costa Rica with significant migration to the Peninsula beginning in the early 1930's onset by the discovery of significant gold deposits in the region. Though settlement during this "gold rush" continued through the better part of the 1970's, Osa is still sparsely populated with much of the region relatively untouched and only readily accessible by boat, horseback or hiking trail. While areas of Osa remain rather secluded, this in part is the very essence of the charm of the region, making it a world-renowned paradise and one of Costa Rica's top ecotourism destinations. Costa Rica as a whole has been recognized for its concerted conservation efforts and environmental practices with an impressive 25% of the country's land protected under the national park and reserve system. Osa represents an important piece of the country's protected natural landscape as this 700-square-mile stretch of land is the distinguished home to 2.5% of the world's biodiversity. Due to the extensive terrestrial and marine ecosystems endemic to the region, nearly 80% of the landscape remains part of an undeveloped patchwork of protected conservation territory known as the ACOSA region, or "Osa Conservation Area". The body of water that separates the Osa Peninsula from mainland Costa Rica is known as the Golfo Dulce, one of four tropical fjords on the planet and the only place on the globe where populations of both Northern and Southern Humpback whales meet to birth their young. The Térraba-Sierpe Wetlands, located on the Northern-Pacific region of the Peninsula, is the country's largest mangrove forest and represents the most significant wetland ecosystem in all of Central America. Osa's terrestrial regions house the largest remaining tract of lowland rainforest in all of Pacific Mesoamerica as well as the largest population of scarlet macaws in Central America and 3% of flora found nowhere else in the world. Apart from the extensive exotic species of wildlife found on the Peninsula, Osa is also known for some of the best surfing beaches (Cabo Matapalo) and is widely acclaimed to have the best snorkelling in all of Costa Rica (protected reserve Isla de Caño). However, by far the most popular tourist attraction on the Peninsula is world-renowned Corcovado National Park, the largest national park in all of Costa Rica with an impressive ecosystem of wildlife and biodiversity unlike anywhere on the planet (please read the "Corcovado National Park" section below for additional details). Yet, whether you're a nature enthusiast, an adventure junkie, or simply looking for a relaxing escape, the Osa Peninsula is truly a unique tropical paradise with plenty of nature tours and adventure excursions that will be sure to make your stay in Costa Rica an experience to remember! CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK THE CROWN JEWEL OF COSTA RICA Established in October 1975, Corcovado National Park is the largest park in Costa Rica and protects nearly a third of the Osa Peninsula, spanning an area of 54,039 terrestrial hectares and 2,400 marine hectares. The park is home to 13 major ecosystems and conserves the largest primary forest on the American Pacific coastline and one of the few remaining sizeable areas of lowland tropical forests in the world. National Geographic named it "the most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity," as the park contains 140 mammal species, 400 bird species (20 of which are endemic), 117 amphibian and reptile species, 40 species of freshwater fish, 500 species of trees, and 8,000 species of insects. Corcovado remains one of the last intact habitats of the New World's largest feline, the jaguar, and is home to four additional species of cats including, the puma, the ocelot, the jaguarundi, and the margay. All four Costa Rican monkey species can be found within the park including, the white-faced capuchin, the mantled howler, Geoffrey's spider monkey, and the endangered Central American squirrel monkey. In addition to the squirrel monkey, amongst the expansive number of species that reside in Corcovado are some of the largest remaining populations of a number of endangered species including, the Baird's tapir, the giant anteater, the white-lipped peccary, the harpy eagle, the scarlet macaw, and the American crocodile, amongst others. Corcovado is open to the public and can be visited on day hikes or overnight treks, however, as of February 1, 2014, all visitors must be accompanied by a certified professional guide to enter the park.

I live with my wife, she is at home sometimes in case you need something. There’s a PlayStation 4 and some games in the room. The wifi passcode is Campos4417
Our place is off the interamericana hwy, is very quiet and comfortable, only a couple of neighbors next door.
  • Charming and very aware of everything. The conversation at breakfast with Eli .... special. Thank you

  • Nolan and Eli were great hosts. They went above and beyond to help us out with our trip and getting to different places to and from their house. Responded extremely fast to all of our messages and were very welcoming and hospitable.

  • Great place to stop for a rest on our way to our final destination. Hostess was very accommodating!

  • Our stay at Nolan & Eli's place was very nice! Nolan weren't home, but we said hi to him on phone and he helped us with a few things regarding information about local attractions and a translation to Spanish. Eli was the host during our stay. She didn't speak English but through the use of Google translate, our very little knowledge of Spanish and gestures we had some nice chats! She made some very delicious breakfast, helped us communicating with the airport and taught us some Spanish! Their dog Pepe was a bit guarding at first, but after a few hours he softened up and got more friendly. All in all a good stay!

    Søren2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • You can't go wrong with this place!! Highly recommended. Clean, has everything you'd need and the price can't be beaten!

    P-A2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • They're really great! Friendly at the point we felt great to go out to dinner with them too!

    Hussain2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • They are in good hands with Nolan and Eli. They are very friendly, helpful and will give you company and pleasant conversation during your stay. Thanks to them I did not go hungry more than once: P. The puppy Pepe is a love! It is a recommended place as a base of operations to know places in the area. As in any coastal place I recommend you bring repellent if you are outside at night. Also if they are addicted to the internet take into account that it is more suitable for messages and communication rather than for videos or so because the internet in the area is not so fast. The place is clean and the house has the implements you would expect from an apartment. Recommended!

  • The place is perfect. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay a lot. We realy recomand to stay there!

    Patricia2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights in Royer & Flor's cabine, it was amazing ! The place is clean, surronded by nature and very cosy. It's ideal for a couple and we higly recommend ! They arranged a guided tour in corcovado for us, we spent the day with Hannia (Flor's sister) and it was really great !

    Martin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! This was the best chapter of our whole trip. Royer's place, knowledge, and family is so wonderful and made our time in Osa so special. They are guides and have so much to share about beautiful places in the region, and even the property itself is a testament to that knowledge and care. Royer showed us tree frogs in the yard, pulled up yuca and ginger from his garden for us to eat, told us about some incredible hikes we took ourselves and even gave us wildlife spotting tips. The little pool in back is as wonderful as it looks, and waking up in the warm glow of that bedroom is a dream. We loved cooking on the porch, the layout is fantastic and really makes you appreciate the natural beauty of the property. Would stay here a million times over.

    Asha2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Royer and Flor went above and beyond as hosts. They are super hospitable and proud to share their knowledge as local tour guides. The cabin is one of the most unique stays we’ve ever experienced - sparkling clean and comfortable, even though it’s right there in the jungle. Puerto Jimenez is a short drive away (though I’m very glad we had a car), and I highly recommend booking a Corcovado tour with Royer and Flor’s company, Ficus tours.

    Alec2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Royer and Flor was everything we could’ve wished for and more! The “Dreamhouse” they built next to their own property is a little paradise. The cabin itself is very beautiful and has everything you need (small kitchen to cook etc. and a beautiful outside shower&pool) - just as pictured and of course very clean. But what makes this space really special is the wonderful jungle-like garden and of course the families’ hospitality. Royer, Flor and their two children took really good care of us and made us feel like home. Royer’s passion for nature and his knowledge about the area is contagious. We also booked a tour with their company Ficus Tours and spent one day in Corcovado with Royer which is just the best thing you can do! As mentioned above Royer is so passionate and therefore able to show and tell you so much about the area, nature etc. Apart from that, communication and check-in were really easy as Royer and Flor were always available when you needed them. We wish we could’ve stayed longer and hope to return soon!

    Lucía2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Flor, Royer and their children have been splendid. The House is wonderful, new, clean and with everything you need to bathe and cook. Royer and Flor have always been available, advising us and giving us information about buses, the park, taxis, etc. but at the same time we had the house for us and enjoy our privacy in the green of nature.

    Anita2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed one night at the residence. The owners we're very helpful and friendly! Even after Royer had taken a hike through Corcovado as a guide that same day, he came to us in the evening to try to spot frogs! They really helped us out when we were struggling with our already booked tour through another tour agency. They are very concerned about you. Also the house is really clean and the back is nicely designed!

    Carlijn2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was great, the cabin is located in the garden but it is hidden and very very well appointed. The bathroom and the kitchen are simply at the top. The accommodation is atypical, pleasant, and above all perfectly clean. I recommend !

  • Tom and Hollie were all round amazing hosts. The house is so beautiful inside and out- surrounded by wildlife and captivating views. If you are looking to immerse yourself in a serene beautiful nature this is the place. Hollie and Tom was so kind to cook for us during our stay and offer tips for an adventurous trip. Everything about this place is amazing !!

  • We will remember forever the beautiful place where we stayed and the hospitality received

    Juan Gerardo2019-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We were at Hollie and Tom's place during the start of the wet season. Great thunder and lighting. Animals galore (monkeys, toucans, sloths, parrots, turkey vultures and other birds). Hollie and Tom's place requires an SUV/Jeep or Tom can pick you up in his pickup which is what we did from the bus we caught in San Jose to Golfito (we got off a bit early to meet Tom). The roads turn rough as you get closer to Casa Zenn (their place). The room we had was a good size and a comfortable king bed with private bath. Shared living space and great covered veranda in the back for viewing wildlife. Their two cats were very friendly and also provided some entertainment. We got some breaks in the weather in our 4 night stay and went to near by Golfito by boat/ferry and returned via a mangrove canal only passable at high tide. We enjoyed a dip in their pool which was refreshing after the jungle walk on their property. We didn't take advantage of the yoga area under the palapa (we probably should have). Tom also arranged a kayaking tour up a near by river of mangroves (saw two crocks). Tom is a great cook, so we opted for eating in most of the time at a very reasonable cost. Tom also provided transportation on request at reasonable costs as well. We went to a local restaurant nearby one night. We did fine without a vehicle. We'll be back!!

    Sam2019-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a magical place! My wife and I decided to spend the night somewhere a little different than usual, and we came to an amazing house. Holly welcomed us with open arms, and made us feel at home. The scenery was magical, the house was clean, the meals Holly and Tom served us were at the levels of 5 star restaurants. Tom and Holly were charming, sharing their journey to Costa Rica and giving us time. The trip to the beaches is very short between 10-20 minutes. I must mention that I awoke in the morning to the concert. The sounds from the jungle surrounding Tom and Holly's house were amazing. Enjoy every minute, I recommend to anyone who passes through the area to stop for at least one night. Thank you very much was awesome!

    Itay2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • You have to go, the place is awesome, it's worth the trip. Hollie and Thomas are the best hosts one can find. Casa Zenn is simply a paradise !!!

    Carlos2019-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Zenn was a perfect experience. We stopped here towards the end of our 2 week trip to Costa Rica . It was everything we wanted and more. Our hosts were super sweet and Hollie is an amazing chef. She made our meals every night and they were delicious (different types of cuisines and ingredients made with love). The outdoor space was beautiful. There were hammocks and a pool as well we had our own private area of the patio where we could watch the sun set and the monkeys play. It was the exact experience we were hoping for. We also kayaked which Hollie and Thomas set up for us. They made staying here very easy and comfortable. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We will always remember our relaxing time at Casa Zenn.

    Gabriel2019-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a glorious 24 hours at Casa Zenn. How we wished we’d stayed longer…. A pure slice of tropical paradise and only just off the beaten track. A warm welcome from Tom and Hollie (and their 2 delightful cats) our well travelled hosts, with a refreshing home made lime juice, followed by a dip in the pool. Drinks on the veranda with stunning views over the surrounding countryside, jungle and sea. Dinner was a delicious plantain lasagne – an absolute must. And this was only one of the many tempting dishes available on the menu. Our en-suite bedroom was spacious, cool and comfortable with our own sitting area. Birds, butterflies and wildlife abound and it is worth getting up early and watching birds and monkeys from the veranda. After a great value hearty breakfast, we borrowed the boogie boards and drove 15 minutes to palm fringed Zancudo beach which was almost empty. A cold drink at Sol y Mar, and then sadly we had to collect our bags and say goodbye to Casa Zenn…

Our beautiful and spacious cement house was just completed in December 2019. The spacious bedroom offers a queen bed, and in the living room there is a comfy full-sized sofa bed. We have an additional single bed with mattress that we can set up in the living room or bedroom upon request. The spacious bathroom with beautiful stonework is inviting for taking a nice hot water shower. The fully outfitted kitchen is a semi-outdoor space, all screened in with mosquito netting. Nice outside patio.
The entire house is surrounded by maintained garden and fruit trees such as bananas, coconut (pipa), plantain, lemons, avocado, starfruit, and more. Parking is right outside your home on the driveway. The property is around 1500 square meters in total.
The neighborhood is quiet and there are only a few houses around. Behind the rental unit, there is farmland with plants and with our two horses Mora and Morita. Next to the rental towards the North, there is a property that no one currently lives on. The street out front of the rental home is a dead-end road with a few more families that live there. We are currently the last house on the road with grid-tied electricity. The families further down the road use solar energy and sometimes run a generator. Right around the corner, around 5 minutes walk, there is primary and secondary forest with all 4 monkey species, sloth, coati, agouti, Tyra, pumas, ocelot, and more! The Bambu hill is connected to world-famous Corcovado National Park, so all animals that are found there can also be found here. If you're into birding, there is ample opportunity to bird watch. We have toucans, scarlet macaws, parrots, and hummingbirds right on our property, as well as Trogons, Red-capped Manakins, Torquoise Mot Mot in the forest right around the corner. Often you can hear the howler monkeys right from your front porch in the early mornings (howling over at the forest around 5 minutes walk).
  • Excellent Host and neighborhood!!!This was the best experience we have had in Costa Rica. First of all, the house has everything you will need and its well designed,I love the bathroom and the kitchen. The big yard outside is like a botanical garden with many different kinds of plants which attract different birds everyday. One day morning, we had three pairs of Macaw on the tree in front our house!Janina is a wonderful host, she is warm hearted and responses fast. The town is veey close, its not a very big town but got everything(big supermarket, bank, hospital, pharmacy, meat shop, liquid shop, beach......)Don't miss Josh(your wonderful neighbor)'s tours! On the first Day, He took us to do a river Walking tour where we saw at least 15 kinds of birds. The next day we did the ocean tour, paradise! We would love to come back again!

  • Our stay at Janina's and Ronny's far exceeded expectations. Janina and Ronny are awesome hosts and very hospitable. They both went the extra mile on everything. Janina picked us up from the airport, took us to the store with her so that we could get some groceries for the week and brought us around the town to show us around and give us some land markers to get back to the place easily. The place was tastefully decorated and the outside kitchen is an excellent touch. There was so much thought put into everything - it was a home away from home and we enjoyed out stay. Thanks Janina and Ronny!

  • This house was amazing. The Casa de la Bambu is situated around 10min (by car) from the city. We had everything what we needed. You will see that Janina put a lot of love in this house so that everybody feels just like home. So the bed was very comfortable and we had everywhere an ventilator. In the bedroom was an AC. The kitchen was fully equipped. You could sit at the terrace and simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings and hear the chirping birds. We wished we could have stayed longer. But we will definitely come another time back here. We can highly recommend this Airbnb house. Janina is a very friendly and warm host. She was there for us and gave us a lot of tips.

  • Janina is a great host, you‘ll always feel welcomed by her and your neighbor Josh. The house is clean and private and it‘s only a few minutes by car to the next big supermarket, restaurants and fun activities. Because of the lovely garden there are many birds and even Aras are stopping by. We also never had trouble with the wifi or hot water- it all worked perfectly fine. A big plus is that they have their own filter, so you can drink tab water! Janina and Josh both were really helpful when it came to booking activities or planning trips as they both know the area and people extremely well. I‘m sure they’d also be happy to help if there‘s something wrong or you got questions, concerns or anything else.

  • Janina's appartment is an amazing place! It's huge, clean and contains everything needed! We enjoyed our stay very much. The communication with Janina was easy, her dogs are sweet and Josh easy going and very helpful! We had no car but Arturo was always there to help with transport if needed. We can definitely recommend Janina's place!

  • Janina and Josh were incredible hosts and their place is AMAZING. We were so happy with the comfort level of the abode, the crazy bird life, friendly neighborhood, and the kindness of the hosts. Janina and Josh are invested in their community, and learning about the area through their eyes was valuable. If you like nature, this place is perfect. If you’d like to be a bit outside of town, it’s perfect. Air conditioning was a welcomed amenity given it’s rarity in CR. I was able to work and do video calls with the WiFi easily. We would return in a heartbeat and stay longer.

Enjoy beachfront accommodation AFFORDABLY. This clean, private room sits on the side of a beach-front home in remote, beautiful Zancudo. There is a full bathroom that is SHARED with another small room. Wifi in the room. LOCATION is everything: we are centrally-located, so you can walk to stores (10 minutes), restaurant/bar (100 m/yards away). Your room is just steps from the safe, swimmable and fishable waters of the Golfo Dulce. Here the beach is flat, and 6 miles long: perfect for beach walks.
Your room is one of 3 spaces that I offer guests. Two rooms share an external bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. The other is an apartment with kitchen and private bath. The owners have their residence upstairs, but we run the restaurant next door for part of the year, so we are only upstairs to sleep and shower (and only from October through February). The room is fully screened, with overhead fan and small desk and stools for work-space. Feel free to use the breezy restaurant/bar nearby, if you want a workspace with a view. When selecting accommodation, realize that location affects many things: too far north, there are no waves, and much less breeze (making it hotter) - we have daily breezes, so A/C not required; too far south, and the waves are so strong that you cannot swim, unless you are an expert surfer. We have medium-sized waves out front, where you can enjoy wave-playing without rip-tides or crashing surf. You can swim for exercise just past the breakers - especially good in the morning. We are central: other locations are so remote that it's 30+ minutes walk to the nearest store or restaurant/bar. Here, you can choose to be social or not..
The popular Restaurant/Bar/Cabinas Sol y Mar is next-door to serve our famously delicious food and/or ice-cold drinks. Sports on TV can be shown if available. Your room is private, but conveniently located if you wish to socialize. There is a small troupe of howler monkeys right across the road, and we are occasionally visited by white-faced and squirrel monkeys, sloths, anteaters, various bird species.

Sierpe River Camp provides you with your own private room out in the true Costa Rican wilderness, many kilometers away from any type of civilization, where there are countless adventures to be had. We're located directly on the edge of the Sierpe river, with a rainforest behind the property, and the Pacific Ocean just a 5 minute boat ride away. Please note: the location of this listing is where the office for Sierpe River Camp is located. The true location is far down river.
Important note: the location of this listing is where the office for Sierpe River Camp is located. The true location of Sierpe River Camp can be found by searching Sierpe River Camp #1, or by searching on the map, far down the Sierpe River, close to where the river meets the ocean. If you're having problems, feel free to contact me! First, you should know that this is a project that I, Carlos, a born and raised Sierpe native, recently started. This is not some big well-oiled eco-cabin machine, but rather one man with some help from family and friends that is trying to start something truly authentic and unique. For the time being, there are only two private rooms, this being one of them, so you can be assured that you'll essentially have the property to yourself, minus myself and a helper or two. Sierpe River Camp truly is a camp in the sense that it is an escape out into nature, away from the noise and the busyness of the outside world. Might we mention that our escape out into nature is among the most beautiful, pristine, and secluded in the entire region? Even in Costa Rica, it isn't easy to find a place that's completely off the grid, far away from civilization, but we're just that. For heavens sakes, there aren't even roads to the property! You need to get on a boat just to get there (see more info on obtaining that boat transportation below). We promise that you can't stay any closer to the river than you can with us: its about 5-10 steps steps from the door of your room to water's edge. This isn't just any old river either, but the Sierpe river (a quick image search will show you some of the majesty that awaits you here). The Sierpe river hosts the biggest wetlands and mangrove system in all of Costa Rica, and one of the biggest in Central America. Of course, this brings with it gobs of wild life, including: 3 different species of monkeys, sloths, tons of bird species, crocodiles, and even sharks that use the area as a breeding ground! As if it weren't good enough to stay on the shore of such a life filled river, there are jungle covered hills backing up to the property. Being sandwiched right between jungle and river sets the perfect scene for an authentic Costa Rican wilderness adventure. With the Pacific Ocean just a 5 minute boat ride away, and the largest wetlands and mangrove system right at our doorstep, there are limitless tour options. All of our tours are private, directly through us, leave right from the property, and include a professional guide (myself) and non-alcoholic drinks: - Kayak tour through the surrounding mangroves - 4 hour birdwatching tour by boat - All day Caño Island with snorkeling (lunch included) - All day Corcovado (San Pedrillo station, lunch included) - 4 hour waterfall tour (lunch included) - Mangrove and wildlife boat tour - Mangrove, wildlife, and beach tour by boat (lunch included) - Scuba diving (availability of diving spots depends on how far ahead of time you make the reservation. Please message me if interested to find out what we can offer you) (lunch included) If you have something else in mind, just let us know, and we can plan your ideal personalized tour for your stay with us. Please contact us to get specific pricing info for your group, and any further information that you require. Last but not least: food. We have a fully equipped kitchen, which you are more than welcome to use to cook your meals. Alternatively, we'd be more than happy to prepare native Costa Rican dishes for you at an additional charge. Here are our prices, per person, in USD: Breakfast (coffee/juice included): $6 Lunch (drinks not included): $10 Dinner (drinks not included): $10 We offer an all inclusive and all encompassing escape out into nature here at Sierpe River Camp. Venturing into the Costa Rican wilderness doesn't have to be uncomfortable, a hassle, or wildly expensive. That's why we offer to take care of everything for you, at very affordable prices, so that you can focus on enjoying every moment of your authentic nature get away at Sierpe River Camp.
  • Nice place far from the city. Carlos was very helpful. We went kayaking and scuba diving.

  • Hello my friends, you should absolutely go in this lovely place. Because it's far away from everything, deep in the nature, with people that are very kind and helpful, Carlos, Demira, Esteban and Laoré ! Meals are very good ! And you can have a lot of advices ! Muchas gracias !

  • For those who want to spend a holiday away from the tourist flow, this is the ideal place. The view from the camp on the Rio is magnificent. Carlos takes care of organizing the tours, Delmira is in the kitchen and Esteban is the guide.

  • Such an amazing experience, down the river from Sierpe near the mouth of the river. Carlos is very knowledgeable about the area, he can pick you up on his boat and give you an in depth tour of the mangrove swap where you can see birds, snakes, monkeys, sloths and gators if you're lucky. Hands down one of the best places I stayed while I was in Costa Rica

    Erick2019-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was an adventure to enter 25 kilometers by boat through the canals of Sierpe, until we reached a hostel, very well equipped, where we stayed in front of the wetland with all the comforts. Carlos Daniel accompanies you and gives a lot of security. During the day you can see different birds and crocodiles, and at night an incredible sky without light pollution, and the relaxing sound of the jungle. RECOMMENDED...!

Casual, Rustic, days spent on front balcony in hammock or swimming, see pictures for best description. A picture is worth 100 words.
furnished cottage/cabin laundry on site Roadside parking Remote Jungle Oceanfront Bay This is not for everyone, Rustic But Ohhh so Beautiful What is Costa Rica anyway? It's all about Animals, Jungle & Ocean. If you want to experience the 'Real Costa Rica', this is your opportunity. First let me tell you what 'is not'; 1. No driveway to the House, It's a walk down through the jungle of 100 meters, heavy jungle. 2. No television 3. Nothing fancy, rustic beauty. 4. Sometimes there could be a water problem, it depends on the waterline. Please check for current condition 5. No A/C What it is; 1. Rustic, unlike anything you've experienced before. 2. It's real jungle, very Natural, bare feet welcome. 3. It's totally private 4. It's about the Jungle, the Monkeys, the Macaws 5. The Bay/Ocean is 7 meters from the front of the House 6. It's One of a Kind 7. It's an experience 8. It's your Vacation 9. It's the Rainforest 10. It's Beautiful 11. It's Incredible 12. It's Peace and Quiet 13. It's available by the day or several days The house is older, wooden, we battle with termites. We mostly have water, if not we have a small holding tank. It's really incredible, the views are unbelievable. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, no close convenient store, so stock up. It's a place you want to hunker down and relax for a few days. It's not for everyone, that's ok, we don't want 'everyone' we are looking for a few persons that understand what this is all about. If you are ready to sit back, swim, (oops an occasional gator) read, relax and absorb what Costa Rica was like 30 years ago, then you'll love it here. If you don't have a car, no problem. There is a local boat-taxi service that crosses the Bay from Golfito for 1000 colones each ($1.75 one way per person) If you have questions pls don't hesitate to write.
There is one restaurant/bar nearby also on the waterfront, and one more a bit further away, but this is a bit more loud and a few characters best to not mix with.
  • Tranquility, beautiful sea and a super friendly Dave. The best to rest and be in touch with nature.

    Ellen2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most beautiful place during our 4 month trip (THE most beautiful place) Clean, quiet, secluded, rustic but cozy, .... What a pleasure to go back and forth to the city by small boat! What a pleasure to spend the evenings in front of this enchanting view of illuminated golfito, which is reflected in the bay right in front of you !!!! What a view!!! What silence !!! Ideal temperature !!! With the visit of dolphins! Families of monkeys !! Birds, pelicans, owls .... This house is just a daydream! Traveling for 4 months and we who travel 4 months a year, this is THE guaranteed favorite! In addition David is super nice and helped us when we arrived with our 6 suitcases, helped us to do our shopping and find us a phone card !! Mega pura vida !!!

    Ludovic2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Little piece of heaven. The house is charming and warm. Dave is a really nice and welcoming host. I would come back anytime.

    Nancy2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The House is Amazing and quiet isolated (junge feeling). The Garden is Huge and the House was good equiped. Definitely worth the money .

    Alvaro2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's Wildlife Jungle Lodge is exactly that what you expect to see and have during the stay in Golfito. Please don't be scared like my wife of the lonesomeness. It's not like it sounds, a little village is just around the corner, where you can walk to when its low tide. Otherwise you have to walk a little bit the mountain up through wilderness and then you are in a place called Playa Cacao where it gives two restaurants. The house itself is fantastic, well equipped, perfect located and has a beach direct in front of the house. Perfect to relax and have some days off the trouble within normal live. For a water taxi you can call Orlando which brings you around the area for about 1000 Colones p.P. So try it out, its worth. Chris

    Chris2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Dave's home is a true haven of peace. We immediately felt at ease in this beautiful environment between calm sea and tropical forest. The decoration is charming and the house well equipped and well maintained. Access is preferable by sea (preferably at low tide) but it is also possible by car; in this case, you will have to carry the suitcases on a fairly steep path in the humid forest. Not easy, except for the seasoned globetrotter! The house is a stone's throw from the pretty Cacao beach, accessible either by road on the back or from the sand at low tide. Only one regret, that of not having stayed long enough.

    Francis2020-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place! Stay there at least 2 nights and you will love it!

    Natanael2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Dave’s spot is very special. The house itself is gorgeous, with ample spots for lounging and watching the tide rise and fall from both downstairs and upstairs’ outdoor areas. The kitchen was a lovely place to cook and has multiple views of each side of the gorgeous garden which we spent most of our time in watching wildlife and sunbathing and even fishing. When you’re done relaxing, there are fantastic jungle hikes to the back of the house and when the tide is low, you can walk on the beach all the way around to a restaurant if you wish. Water taxis to Golfito were definitely highlights and just being out on the water in this area is so beautiful. The house has multiple fans if it gets too hot and we were pleased to see we weren’t getting bit by insects at all. Dave was super gracious and helped us with every question we had about the area. 10/10

The Fusion Home is a modern, eco-friendly treetop home located within the Finca Bellavista Community in Costa Rica's wild and beautiful Southern Zone. Intentionally designed as an off-grid sanctuary to allow guests the opportunity to be immersed in the rainforest without sacrificing amenities or comfort, this is an ideal space for adventurers, nature lovers, and those interested in off-grid living. The home was featured on F@cebook Watch "Most Incredible Homes" (Episode 1 - The Jungle Home).
This rental option has the tiny house below the home occupied by your hosts, Amy & Matt. If you would prefer to have the entire property to yourself then please make a booking directly from the official Fusion Home website (type "The Fusion Home" into Google and you'll find it!) * In addition, and very importantly - please review the entire listing carefully (including the House Rules) to help you determine if you will be a good match to stay at our home. Staying at The Fusion Home is an amazing experience, but it's not for everyone! Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any questions about what to expect that are not answered in the listing. * * As a guest of The Fusion Home you will have access to the hiking trails, waterfalls, swimming holes, and tropical gardens around the property, and are free to explore at your leisure throughout your stay. This is a fantastic place to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with yourself while still having access to modern conveniences and comforts. * * The Fusion Home features: -Spacious balconies with panoramic rainforest views of the Osa Peninsula and Piedras Blancas National Park. The upper balcony (the "SkyLounge") has a hammock, sofa, BBQ grill, and yoga mats. It's also the best place to enjoy a jungle sunset or watch the rain fall. -Memory foam mattresses, quality sheets and bedding, and energy efficient ceiling fans for comfortable sleeps. -A full kitchen made of locally-sourced teak, equipped with a large fridge, stainless steel farmhouse sink, gas stove top, and oven. Coffee, tea, cooking oil, salt, pepper, and some spices are included for your use. -Indoor living room with large wrap-around sofa and and LED projector. -Rainwater plunge pool and lounge chairs overlooking the gardens. -Tasteful and cozy tropical/bohemian decor to make you feel right at home -Binoculars and a bird guide book are available for your use. You will wake up naturally to a symphony of birdsong. We have identified over 50 species of birds from the balconies! -Organic gardens and fruit trees. Little by little, we are working towards creating a small "food forest" on our property and producing as much of the food we consume as possible. We're still beginners, and we can't guarantee what will be growing during your stay, however you are more than welcome to pick fresh ingredients when available! * * ***IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS / PLEASE READ*** -Finca Bellavista is an off-grid pedestrian community located in the rainforest - as such, our home is accessible via hiking. On average, it takes us 10-15 minutes to hike to the home from base camp/the parking area. The access trail is a steep, uphill road made of loose rock and gravel. The hiking time depends on your physical fitness level and the amount of gear you are carrying. Pack lightly and bring comfortable hiking boots. -Due to the access and remote location, we do not recommend staying at our place if you have serious health concerns or do not consider yourself in good physical condition (or if you don't like hiking / aren't willing to embrace the hiking as part of the adventure!) -A 4x4 vehicle is required for the last 3km to Finca Bellavista from the main road. -You will have the entire main house to yourself. We live in a small flat under the main house. The only shared space is the lower deck/plunge pool area, but you are welcome to use it any time during your stay. On most days, we spend our time at base camp, and some days we won't be home at all. We will respect your space, and you can always let us know if you need anything by messaging us through Airbnb. -The home is built on stilts (above ground level), is surrounded by trees, and offers an integral experience with the canopy and surrounding rainforest. However, there are no trees incorporated in the physical structure of the home.
Finca Bellavista is such a magical and unique neighborhood in itself that you probably won't want to leave site once you're here! If you're curious and want to explore the surrounding Southern Zone of Costa Rica, the close-by Interamericana Highway provides easy access to modern day amenities like airports, supermarkets, hospitals and restaurants, along with some of the country’s most stunning National Parks and wildlife reserves, including Piedras Blancas National Park, Corcovado National Park, the Terraba Sierpe National Wetlands, and the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve. We are located a 1-2 hour drive to Puerto Jimenez, Golfito, Uvita & Dominical. Our favorite beaches are in Uvita, as well as some great restaurants (see our guidebook for our favorites!)
  • The Fusion Home was fanominal! Matt and Amy are so kind and thoughtful, thinking of everything we could need and giving great tips for things to do and places to go. Finca Bellavista is a wonderful community- everyone there is so kind and the food is great, from zip lining to hiking and even a waterfall to swim in Bellavista has everything you need and more for the best Costa Rican Jungle vacation ever! The fusion is the best in all of Finca Bellavista as are the hosts!

    Darren2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing experience, community and home. The perfect escape/reset and place to reconnect with nature. Matt and Amy are such great people and hosts, and Finca Bellavista is absolutely stunning. Two of us had the best birthday experience being there this weekend. Don't hesitate in booking, truly such a special place. An unforgettable experience. Would definitely go back to Finca Bellavista and stay at the Fusion Home.

    Ted2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic place for a retreat. Peace and nature - Amy and Matt’s house is highly addictive.

    Fanny2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a paradise on earth! Everything from the shower to the views is amazing! Having to leave was the only hard part! Amy and Matt are beyond awesome. These two truly inspire you to live out your dream! We traveled the entire pacific coast and the fusion home felt most like home! The animals, views and food were more amazing then we could have imagined. We aren’t trying to figure out how to vacation there again, we are trying to figure out how to move there!!! Seriously!!!

    Erin2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • A magnificent house, in an incredible setting in the middle of the forest, exceptional, attentive and welcoming hosts. Delicious and hearty meals like you've never eaten. One of the best AirBnB accommodations. Everything was perfect. I highly recommend.

    Gina2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great excitement when you turn off the main road and arrive at the Finca Bellavista after several kilometers of gravel road. At the latest when you cross the rustic suspension bridge you are deep in the jungle and you wonder if I chose the right thing for a few days in the middle of the wildlife. After a short walk uphill you come to the Fusionhouse and already looking at the small pool and the hammock you feel like staying here. From the moment the door opens and you walk through the well-equipped kitchen / living area you get big eyes and at the latest on the upper terrace you stop with your mouth open and wonder how the two hosts Amy and Matt managed to do this here to have. The house is completely self-sufficient with electricity and water and still has all kinds of luxurious equipment. The bedroom has only mosquito screens and you have the feeling of sleeping in the middle of the jungle without fear of uninvited visits. The hosts Amy and Matt are lovely people who take great care of their guests. We recommend Greetings Conny Oli and little Leo

    Constanze2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a phenomenal place to stay. Not only is the treehouse incredible, the surrounding area is amazing to explore. Amy and Matt were super helpful and made our trip more comfortable. A once in a lifetime experience, waking up to capuchin monkeys in the trees, watching them from bed. If you’re hesitating or unsure, book now because you won’t regret it!!!

    Sophie2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We knew the FusionHome would be fantastic, but it was even better than expected. Matt and Amy have achieved a truly unique experience by blending so many modern touches in a remote and beautiful setting, with careful thought to energy management and self sustainment. This is an inspiring and wonderful place for anyone looking for something special a bit off the beaten path. We enjoyed this for 5 days with our kids, ages 11 and 10, and it was unanimously our favorite spot in Costa Rica!

  • Antony and his family are genuine good people. Antony picked us up at the bus station and drop us off at the little airport when we left, making sure the plane was still leaving due to the coronavirus. If you need anything ask Antony’s mom, Rosie. She only speaks Spanish but she is very sweet and will always be happy to help! She even made us delicious arroz con leche. We found the tent comfortable. Puerto Jimenez is a very humid town therefore expect the habitation to be humid. We appreciated to be part of a small community and not in a touristic spot. As we didn’t have a car, the location was convenient for us. Note that the tent is not far from the road and a garage, so you cannot expect the same tranquility of being isolated in the jungle. However, you will hear and see a lot of wildlife without leaving the backyard. As expected when in Costa Rica, you might encounter some bugs! Thank you Antony and Rosie for your generosity and good luck with everything.

    Jon2020-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Super spacious and well equipped tent very close to Puerto Jimenez. We recommend!

  • Anthony’s Airbnb succeeded my expectations beyond belief. It’s such a gem of a place, would love to come stay again someday.

    Natalia2020-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We were driving to Drake Bay and didn't want to do the dirt road at night, so we booked Anthony's place last minute. He was very nice and had the place ready quickly, he also checkd with a friend to get the latest conditions for the road to Drake!! We enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it to any one looking for a safe and comfortable place to stay while exploring the surrounding area or as a stopping point before heading to Drake. The furnishings were comfortable and the wifi worked great!

    Theresa2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful space that is far enough out of Puerto Jiménez that you feel apart of nature, but close enough so it isn’t a struggle getting to the city. Anthony and his parents were very helpful with everything and always answered our questions immediately. He even helped us call a taxi when the bus we needed to take was cancelled. Overall very pleasant stay and I wish you all the best!

    Taylor2020-01-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Anthony's Jungle house. The setting allows you to hear the wildlife like it was right next to you. We spend the morning hours listening to the sounds of howler monkeys and watch birds in the immediate vicinity. The house is split in two and we truly enjoyed the downstairs area, where we spend hours reading and just watching our surroundings. Anthony was very accommodating and let us store baggage for a night while we were in Corcovado. Communication with him was very quick as well Chris

    Chris2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Apart from some little details that were not expected, the place is great. Very comfortable, clean, with the basic facilities for a nice stay. The location is 20 min. walking ( 5 with a car) from the centre of Puerto Jiménez, so is a much closer contact with nature. That implicates more bugs, birds chirping, howling monkeys at night and very friendly dogs from the hosts. A lot of privacy too. We loved that.

we're happy you dropped by. take a load off, sit down and relax. it's very easy to fall into a tropical rhythm in a place where thatched roof dwellings such as chozas, ranchos & palapas exist. They are an essential part of both the historical and contemporary Osa lifestyle & experience. They are simplicity, functionality and beauty all rolled into a fine piece of work. you'll notice the tropical elegance of la palapa hut as soon as you enter.
A private room with single bed, AC and private bathroom facilities including shower.
  • The room is very no frills, just a twin bed and a desk, but clean and totally adequate. It was perfect for me as a solo traveler on a budget looking to access Corcovado National Park. The AC was a nice amenity to have on the hot and humid days I stayed. The property is very well kept and peaceful, with lots of wildlife around, really lovely overall. Andrew was very helpful as a host during my stay and also responsive with communication beforehand. It is an easy walk into Puerto Jimenez and to/from the ferry terminal to Golfito from here, and there is also a market very closeby.

  • Incredible place in the middle of wild life: Macaus, sloth, colorful crabs, frogs... and well placed to explore Corcovado NP. Single rooms very small but nice double rooms. Very friendly staff

  • Andrew's place is ideally located if you're looking for something quiet, relaxed, and laid back. Would stay again.

  • This hut was a nice, inexpensive and convenient place to stay in Puerto Jimenez. It was a short walk to restaurants, the grocery store, the beach and departure points for tours. The room was small but comfortable, with a good mattress and air conditioning. My one hesitation is that the hotel plans to start collecting and sharing biometric information on guests in the future, which is something I'm not comfortable with. For this one reason I would likely not stay again, due to security and privacy concerns. The hotel itself is very nice, though, and the staff are very welcoming and kind. They're also very willing to help you figure out how to get around and how to best spend your time.

  • A unique and enchanting site, really exceptional. I appreciated that we go down the mirror of the bathroom which was too high for my great hahah! Friendly staff and willing to meet my every request, generous explanations when to nature. Several little monkeys who marveled me. Amazing layout. In no case did I feel in danger. The 24 hour coffee was delicious and snacks were much appreciated. In short, I highly recommend!

  • Could have stayed longer. Really comfortable space, very nice people, surrounded by macaws and monkeys.

  • Very natural setting, away from the main part of town, but just a few blocks walk to the Main Street. Very friendly.

  • Perfect spot. Walking distance from the airport, so fly-in visitors have a great spot, but It's nice and quiet. In 2 days I heard 1 plane briefly, and it wasn't loud at all. I'd definitely recommend this spot. The Corcovado NP was amazing. The whole experience, but the room was great, complimentary coffee, and hammocks, outside seating, so much to enjoy!

Puerto Jiménez, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica

In southern Costa Rica, in the unique Golfo Dulce, on Playa Zancudo, set back 300 ft from the beach and off the main road, a secret garden with a safe, clean, quiet and cozy space to relax. Restaurants, stores and bars as close as 5 minutes walking. Located at one of the best spots on the beach to swim, however if you want to surf then just walk south and the waves keep getting bigger the farther you go. If you are looking to explore, play or simply get away then this is the place to stay!
The Cabina is on the first floor of our home. Gardens in front and back. Decks all around the house, including tables, hammocks, couches and a large kitchen. If you want to enjoy your time here more we can serve a fresh homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Quiet and small, a few houses infront of our lot along the road, but next to us are open green areas, also in back. There are two stores on the beach, about 5 and 10 min walks in ether direction, and they have most supplies. If you have special diet or medical needs we suggest you bring it with you.
  • I spent two wonderful nights here and wish I could have stayed longer. Meeting people like Amon-Eros, Nadia, and Nina is what makes traveling so special.

  • A relaxing space and the hosts were very attentive

    Leo2019-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • Very sweet spot in a great location. The beds were comfy, lots of outdoor space and right across the street from the beach. Nights were quiet as you are set back off the road a bit. Nadia and her family are friendly and sweet. Zancudo is a lovely rustic town for those who want to escape from the tourist vibe. If you like dirt roads, miles of black sand beaches, dogs, chickens and everything within walking distance this is a great spot for you.

  • Excellent place and attention Much nature and on the part of the hostess only good things could say

  • Nadia is a very nice person with interesting stories, also prepares a delicious pizza very happy to have known.

  • Right across street from beach, minutes walk to grocery and local restaurants. Hot... And bring your insect repellent, those suckers are nasty. Place was great though, we really enjoyed it and the hosts are super nice, friendly, and helpful.

  • We loved staying in Nadia‘s and Amon-Eros‘ place. The surrounding is just beautiful, full of mango trees and coconut palms and there was a sloths family living right in front of the house. A calm, little paradise ! But most of all the family‘s natural and warm way of hosting us made our stay here special. They showed us all the medical and food plants in the garden , invited us to play beach volleyball with them and Nadia offered us delicious home made bread and pizza for a small price. Thank you so much for these amazing days - we felt like home.

  • I had a wonderful stay with Amon-Eros, Nadia and cute little Nina (and their two adorable dogs) for a few days. This beautiful family was a pleasure to get to know and the guest are is a lovely main floor private space in a quiet garden sanctuary. The accommodations are clean and well-appointed with a large kitchen area if you prefer to do your own cooking. The garden is peaceful and lovely with hammocks on the walk-out patio to relax in. The beach is a short few minutes walk with a direct path. Both Amon and Nadia have lived in the area for a very long time and are both knowledgeable and readily available for any questions you might have. I enjoyed my conversations with them and Nadia prepared some delicious meals for me (at a very reasonable, inexpensive rate). There is a very positive, calm energy in this home and I felt safe and comfortable as a solo female traveller. Thank you Nadia for all the fun conversations, the zumba classes, and the extra coconut water and thank you Amon for helping me get to Golfito for departure and helping me find the post office to mail my postcards and for all your immense knowledge and details about so many things on the tours you provide! It was a great stay with your family. Pura Vida!
