Mountain
“A visit to the Aspen area wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the iconic Maroon Bells. The twin summits of these 14,000 ft peaks are beauitful with their striated red rock and snow patches throughout the year. The mountains are framed in a high alpine valley full of aspen trees and wildflowers sitting behind a tranquil lake. The view is great, and there are a few easy hiking trails to further enjoy the area. Be on the lookout for deer, marmots, pika, and porcupines.”

“Glenwood is known for it's hot springs but this one is unlike the ones in town. You will need a reservation to soak here but its well worth it because it will never be too crowded. They also have yoga on Saturday mornings and a soak after for the same price, best Saturday ever! The views from this hot springs are the best around! ”

“You always need a backup plan (Meat & Cheese and Tatanka are right next door), as the wait can be obnoxious. But the chicken sandwich is the best! Small menu that is the same for lunch and dinner. French dip is also really popular.”

“this is the old opera house in Aspen and is stunning acoustically, for it's beauty and charm, elegance from a bygone era and amazing quality entertainment. Check out what is playing during your stay, it's always good, worthwhile with a full bar, centrally located in Aspen, just a must if you like live entertainment, theatre, comedy, movies.”

“Located in MARBLE, you will not be disappointed by this BBQ. Open summers only. As it is the only place in town, be prepared for a wait and understand that it's an experiential place. :) The drive to Marble will take you through unspeakably gorgeous scenery. You can also catch the Slow Groovin' BBQ truck at the Carbondale Wild West Rodeo, every Thursday night June - August. ”

Other Great Outdoors
“The highest paved pass in the state, this road (closed Nov to May) is gorgeous. Our cabin is situated at the base of the pass. Stop at the ghost town of Independence, hike, bike, and climb to your heart’s content, or just enjoy a (very steep and twisty!) drive over to Aspen for lunch. ”

“Lively upscale but casual with a great bar and sometimes salsa and tango dancing. Jimmy the proprietor keeps a selection of tequila which will blow your mind and always stunning food. It's been around for a very long time and it's always reliably excellent! ”

“High end, special night out. I prefer sitting at the bar if you have 2 to 3 people in your group. French food, but also have amazing pasta. The bar later in the night is a definite scene”

Ski Area
“Of the four mountains, Aspen Highlands avoids the spotlight, which is perfectly fine with the locals and in-the-know skiers and riders who tackle its uncrowded slopes. Hike the ridge to Highland Bowl for the sweetest run of your life, or simply cruise along the mid-mountain groomers off the Cloud Nine chairlift. Views over the valley to the snow-covered Maroon Bells constantly will remind you: this is Colorado at its best.”

“Cross country ski, snowshoe or take a horse-drawn sleigh ride under the stars to one of Aspen’s most romantic restaurant settings. It is about a 40 minute drive up to Ashcroft (so you will need a car). Reservations are required. In the summer they are open for lunch.”
