“Ama Laxei on Kallidromiou is also a local favourite. With an outdoor courtyard that is always packed in the summer, as well as a vibrant indoor space, this historic spot is an essential Exarchia bucket list. Serving up a range of traditional Greek cuisine, the menu is a flawless mix of delicious meze and succulent meat plates. If you’re in a big group make sure to book in advance.”

Meze Restaurant

“One of my best Taverns in Athens. You will find a big variety of cold cuts, cheese and greek spirits (ouzo, raki, etc). Everything here comes from small producers around Greece. Fanis (the owner) has always a big smile on his face and ensures that every customer will get the most out of this food experience. When the sun is shining take a seat at the back yard, order 3-4 different dishes (called Mezès and come in small plates) accompanied with a glass of Ouzo ( ice is a must) and feel the local vibes while you are in Athens! P.S My personal best is their handmade Dolmadakka (vine leaves stuffed with rice).”

“2 Michelin-star molecular gastronomy restaurant. Fixed tasting menu (with wine pairing optional), that is truly a unique experience. Will relocate to the f. Athens Hilton soon, so unfortunatley it is currently (2019) closed to redefine the menu”

Modern Greek Restaurant

“The restaurant is a perfectly restored villa from the early years of the previous century. The decor strikes the perfect balance between luxury and ambience, creating an atmosphere which is quite formal but still unpretentious, cozy and elegant. The restaurant's creative cuisine has been awarded many times and promises to impress you with a brilliant parade of re-synthesized Greek cuisine ”

“A vermuteria located on a lovely cobbled square, beside a Byzantine church, Odori is busy from late morning until late into the night. One of Odori’s perfect wood-fired pizzas makes the ideal drinking buddy.”

“Live music into the wee hours is what has made Klimataria a favourite with locals. Set in a 100-year-old tavern, down the back streets of the fish market district, this is an original ‘steki’ of Athens with sandstone walls and wooden wine barrels.”
