It is nice basic accommodations in a residential and nature setting. it is a short walk to nature trails at the Pomfret Audubon and airline trails, and also popular for biking on the back roads.
The apartment is over the garage in a nice spread out nature type residential development, close to hiking trails and downtown Putnam. The space is basic, clean and comfortable.
The neighborhood is adjacent to nature areas and two miles form downtown Putnam with shops and restaurants.

  • Really cute place. Clean and amazing!

    Jeffrey2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful cozy place. I went in the cold of the winter, which is definitely not the best time for a lakeside cottage but I still very much enjoyed it. It has everything I needed. There is a lake in front and woods behind. Nice getaway for sure.

  • We had a great time. We will be back again.

  • Amazing place, clean and cozy and much bigger than I expected. The location is perfect and beautiful, falling asleep with the moonlight shining in and the view of the lake. It’s worth every penny.

  • Adam was a fantastic host. I needed a place last minute, and he responded to me within 20 minutes. The lake cottage is very cute and well kept. The cottage has a beautiful view of the lake. It was nice and private and also offered plenty of space. I would recommend this place and Adam as host to anyone.

    Rachel2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Place was nice and clean and had everything you need. Description and photos were accurate. Easy to communicate with and fast to respond. Space was big. Only slight draw back about the space is that the bedrooms are on the side of the house close to the road so you can hear traffic and also the train tracks are across the street so you could hear the train multiple times in middle of the night. Thinking during the Summer when the A/C is on, you wouldn't hear the noises. Overall excellent place and would stop through again.

Choose the ones that fit your preference. They are all hypoallergenic. - Soft and warm blankets The Bed Room: Spacious! There are two luggage rests for easy “out of your suitcase” living... or you can unpack as there is plenty of closet space and a large chest of drawers. Living area: Open floor plan! The kitchen, dining and living area is open making it easy and comfortable to share the space and keep the conversation going. The Deck: Scenic! Enjoy your coffee overlooking a babbling brook. Winter alternative: build a snowman and drink hot cocoa. ;) Nature Trail: Serine! Go around the left of the building, down the deck stairs and find yourself brookside where the bustle of a hurried life is cleansed away by the babbling brook.
Pomfret Landing is a borough of Pomfret Center located in the “Last Green Valley”. This area is called the “Quiet Corner” of Connecticut. There are sanctuary’s, farms, rolling pastures and rock walls everywhere. This whole area is truly beautiful. People routinely come to this area to drive their motorcycles and vintage vehicles. All this rural charm and you are still only 5-10 minutes from all kinds of restaurants and shopping.
  • Denny’s property offers a great home base to explore Connecticut’s Quiet Corner. It offered us a great sense of privacy and an opportunity for relaxation in this beautiful brookside property. The sound of the water flowing in the brook is such a relaxing experience. Communicating with Denny was a breeze. We stopped by to say hi on our second day there, but you can easily check yourself in.

    Soha2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, very comfortable and the host was very hospitable. He went so far as to leave fresh farm eggs and cereal, milk, soup, etc. I would definitely stay there again.

    Carriene2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and I just had our 2nd Christmas stay at the Chalet. Everything was great again. They were kind enough to leave us vegan treats and invite us to their little holiday party again. They also now have a ping pong table set up in the garage and we were invited to play if we wanted. (The garage is located under the bnb place, but they said they try not to play when guests are there in case you're worried about noise.) We remembered to bring our own pillows this year, so we slept well this time too. I'm sure we'll be staying again when we're down visiting family in future.

    Liane2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Denny is a great host and we're so happy we found this listing. We have family in the area and needed to find a place to stay for the Thanksgiving holiday. Check-in was simple, the apartment is beyond adorable, well furnished and the brook/stream running in the back of the property is peaceful to listen to. The small touches make this truly a home, from chocolates at check-in, and just enough in the kitchen to make breakfast a breeze. We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again in the future. Denny's place gave us the privacy needed when visiting with family during a busy holiday.

    Bryan2019-11-29T00:00:00Z
  • This was a very special place for us to stay. Very clean. Very quiet and private. From the very moment we arrived, we felt a warm welcome with chocolates waiting for us on the counter. It is very evident that the host has taken extra measures to ensure guests have a comfortable stay. Appreciated the folded bath towels set out for us, an iron for wrinkled clothing in our suitcase, and a floor fan that we are used to for sleep. Most of all we appreciated Internet to look up alternate directions for our trip, the yogurt and cereal left for us, the especially comfortable bed and pillows. Our most memorable experience was sitting quietly on the back deck in the cool Autumn air listening to the bold stream with a warm blanket wrapped around our shoulders. Awesome place to stay. Thankful for this opportunity. Hosts had great communication and directions. We would love to come back again.

    Andy2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place to stay...clean, spacious, beautiful surroundings! Denny is a wonderful host. Something extra that I would give 10 stars for if I could is that the pillows ALL had the protective zippered case under the normal pillow case. I usually bring my own :-) But, this stay was so clean, comfortable and already had the protective cases I didn't need my own! Silly, but it is a little (important) touch that I appreciate. Overall highly recommend!!!

    Colleen2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a restful stay at Denny's place. We were looking for a weekend getaway not too far from home and it was a great fit. It was private, clean and had just about everything we needed to prepare meals and stay in. The bed was on the firm side for me (I'm a petite person), but we still slept pretty well. The deck faced the creek and trees which made for beautiful scenes for dinner or breakfast outside. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would consider booking for future getaways.

  • I love staying at Jessica's place. The location is perfect - close to my son's school and also the shops and restaurants in Putnam. It's bright and airy and it had everything that we needed. This was my second stay. We will be back!

    Lisa2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jessica’s place was absolutely perfect. Myself and my fiancée and some of his family members stayed there for the duration of our wedding weekend. It was spacious, clean, and so convenient to downtown putnam. The only downsides were that it was a little difficult to find the driveway in the dark, as it is behind the house. It would be better if we had arrived when it was still light out. There’s also a towel rack in the upstairs bathroom that fell off the wall a few times, but we just avoided it and it was fine! The super comfy beds and pillows were my favorite part!

    Anya2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • This home was pretty and clean! The host is very helpful and quick to respond, too. Our local family and friends who saw the home were all impressed there is such a nice rental in town. Much better than area hotels! This was our first Airbnb experience and it was wonderful!

Welcome to Putnam, Connecticut! Putnam has been named multiple times as One of the Best Kept Secret's of New England. Putnam combines the experience of taking a step back in time, beauty, peace and the comforts of everyday living. Once a prosperous Mill Town known for manufacturing this "quaint New England town" is nestled on the banks of the Quinebaug River. The town was named in honor of local Revolutionary War hero General Israel Putnam, voted "one of the best 15 towns to visit in New England" by Boston Magazine and a recipient of the Traveller's Choice Award by Trip Advisor. Here is a recent article: onlyinyourstate.com/connecticut/putnam-ct Due to its proximity to the Quinebaug River, Putnam was on the cutting edge of industry; one of the first cotton mills was built here in 1806. With the advent of the railroad in 1840, textiles flourished and Putnam became a major industrial force, including providing clothing and other goods to Civil War troops. In August of 1955, Putnam was devastated when two hurricanes - Connie & Diane - hit the region within a week of each other. The Quinebaug River overflowed, wiping out homes, businesses, mills, and the railroad beds. Putnam became crowned the 'Antiques Capital of the East' in recent years and hosts a multitude of Antique Shops and boutiques. In recent years, the town has been re-inventing itself once again with an 'Arts & Al Fresco' motif. The downtown is now home to an exciting assortment of restaurants, bars, cafes, art galleries, boutiques, theaters, and more. There are wooded walks, places to go bouldering, 4 golf courses, both public and private (Harrisville, Woodstock, Thompson, and East Thompson), frisbee golf, some of the best antiquing New England has to offer, fishing (both lake and stream), swimming (lake), wine tasting, award-winning dining, dancing and live music, and so much more all within 5 minutes drive. • Martha and Tony’s home is a fantastic option for anyone wanting to stay in the Pomfret area. They are warm, hospitable hosts and our room and bath were sparkling clean. It’s close to various boarding schools and close to the airline trail, if you have time for a run or bike ride.

    Melissa2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • A classic old farm house with the view of a big barn out back. We loved the spacious bed, big breakfast, and the dogs of course. Martha is a kid at heart

    Mike2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Martha and her husband Tony are friendly and interesting people. They’re excellent and experienced hosts. This is a true bed and breakfast and it’s the opposite of the cold, impersonal, and sterile experience of staying in a hotel. Martha’s an excellent breakfast chef! The house and barn are really nice places and the area is beautiful. I won’t hesitate to book again next time I need a place to stay in the area.

    Parker2019-06-24T00:00:00Z

  • Wonderful place to stay in Pomfret! We had a great time - Martha's place has great access to the popular hiking and walking trails as well as easy access to the restaurants and shops in Putnam. This was the perfect place for a quiet weekend away. Martha and her husband were wonderful hosts and took great care of us during our stay! I would highly recommend!

    Olivia2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with Martha. She could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. Her house is a true New England gem set in a beautiful location. We are going back in the spring!

    William2018-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • I had an amazing time staying with Martha this past weekend. I was performing in a theatrical production nearby and wanted a place to stay that was more comfortable and private than the production's accommodations. Martha greeted me with a big smile and friendly conversation. The room was absolutely beautiful. The bed was super comfortable, the pillows were lovely, and I loved the quilt spread. I had plenty of room to stretch out and rest. Across the hall from our bedroom was a spacious bathroom with a claw-foot tub, a charming painted ceramic sink, and lots of lovely decorating touches throughout. Martha was kind enough to offer me breakfast and coffee each morning I was there. I had lovely scrambled eggs, peasant bread toast, strawberries, orange juice, and delicious coffee. It was the perfect way to start my day, and they really treated me like a member of their family. Their house is beautifully decorated, and I loved meeting their chocolate Labrador retrievers, Jenny and Katie. I had early mornings and late return times during my stay, and Martha was incredibly flexible and accommodating. I'm hoping to stay with them when I'm in town again, and I can't recommend them as hosts more highly. My stay was a pleasure from start to finish!

    Eileen2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The landlord is very hospitable and has the opportunity to interact and share local life and guides every day. The Labrador kept at home is very smooth and is a happy experience for those who love dogs. The house is very close to Pomfret high school and Rectory.

Cottage is located at pristine Alexander's Lake on a short private road that ends at the beach area. Lake is deep and great for diving and boating. Quiet, happy, family friendly neighborhood. Kids ride their bikes on our paved road, sidewalk chalk drawings frequently displayed in the middle of the road. Everyone looks out for each other. Backyards are roomy and private.
  • We enjoyed this little cottage. Susan was responsive and welcoming.

    Kimberly2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a peaceful location with swimming and fishing in a crystal clear lake and friendly neighbors this is the perfect spot.

    William2019-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is the perfect antidote to "busyness." There's no need to rush to do anything, and it's incredibly quiet. The lake is relaxing and calm, and is great for open water swimming as well as floating around, getting some sun. Many food options and groceries are super close, should you need more provisions. I can't recommend it enough for decompression from city life.

    Stephanie2019-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Susan is absolutely one of the most gracious women you will ever meet. Her home is exactly that, a home away from home. She goes above and beyond for her guests to ensure their comfort. Everything every other review has stated is so true, great goodies on arrival, great location, great neighbors, and absolutely fantastic hostess. Susan and her home are the best.

    Christina2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! Susan is a wonderful host!

    Dylan-Ernst2018-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great location by the lake with shopping, restaurants and a laundromat close by. Quiet and peaceful even over the Labor Day holiday. Susan is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us some great recommendations for restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were pleasantly surprised to find freshly baked cookies upon our arrival.

    Peggy2018-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a true cabin experience. If you love a clean lake, the smell of pine , room for guests , swimming, canoeing, or just relaxing with a good book, you will love this place. The host is considerate and just lovely.

    Deborah2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four and 2 dogs greatly enjoyed our stay here! Our kids are 4 and 8 years old, and they loved swimming in the lake, even in the rain! The dock was a great spot for fishing and we enjoyed eating fresh caught bass for dinner. Our children have food allergies, so having a home in which we could prepare our own meals was very important to us. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and we utilized the grill outside as well. Even in the rain, we played games and did puzzles - there were many to chose from in the closet! We live just an hour and a half away from the lake, but this quiet cottage was the perfect getaway from the New Haven area! This vacation spot reminded my husband and I of vacations of our childhood and we are already planning our return. Susan was a wonderful, considerate host! We also enjoyed the scenic bike trails in the area and took the canoe out on the river. We were sad to leave this fantastic getaway spot!

Our neighborhood is made up of many large single family homes of varying styles only minutes away from downtown and I-395. Like many other New England towns, Putnam was a mill town. Over time the mills turned into unique shopping areas and one of the largest mills in town is under renovation to become a gorgeous apartment complex with retail and a river side restaurant.
  • Lovely stay! Everything was super clean, breakfast was just right, and the room very comfortable. Karen and Paul are wonderful hosts. We took a short walk to the downtown area for the Fire and Ice festival and enjoyed the dining options and antique shops. Thanks for a great weekend! Ted and Cindy

  • Place was great! Old Victorian with tons of charm and character. Very clean and well done. I will be staying every time I’m in town!

  • It was a nice clean environment and Karen home made cookies was a sweet touch. I couldn’t ask for more. Felt like coming to visit family.

    Janet2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very tastefully decorated newly renovated 98 year old Victorian. Great location. Gracious and accommodating host. Since it is an old house, there are creeks which add to the character, but you do hear other house noises. You share a bathroom with another room though there were no other guests when we stayed there. There’s no access to a TV.

  • Karen and Paul have a lovely, comfortable home that they have obviously (and thoughtfully) enjoyed restoring. Not often does a place feel equally fresh and vintage, but they have mastered the perfect blend, and it is charming. Everything about our stay was a delight.

    Lisa2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a wonderful host! Her place is bright, beautifully designed, comfortable, and sparkling clean. She had great suggestions about places in and around Putnam. Will definitely be recommending this place to friends and family.

    Julie2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • The owners have put a lot of attention into restoring and enhancing this old house. The place is spotless and I loved having my morning coffee on the cozy 2nd floor porch. The bed is super comfy and breakfast in the morning was yummy. We visited during the summer when all the flowers were in bloom but I bet it is spectacular in the fall with all the trees. Thanks!

    Priscilla2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Karen is a very friendly and attentive, but unobtrusive host. Her home is a lovely old Victorian B&B with tasteful decorations and comfy beds. Our room was very spacious and since she had no one in the other room, we had the whole upstairs to ourselves. We arrived early and she let us check in. The continental breakfast was tasty and varied with fresh baked goods and fruit every day, plus yogurt, cereal etc. Overall a great stay!

  • We absolutely loved our stay in Cris' home. It was our first time in northeastern Connecticut and we couldn't have picked a better place for our trip. The home was clean, beautiful, and historic, and Cris was a quick communicator and thoughtful host. If we're ever back in the area, we'll stay here!

    Rachel2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Cris was a lovely host and I had a great time staying at her beautiful country farmhouse. You can tell the moment you step inside that it's a house with soul and character, and Cris and her family have honored it with every special touch and piece of decor. Cris was welcoming and flexible, accommodating my unusual work schedule. The bed was comfortable, the space was spotlessly clean, and I was happy to see coffee and tea available to me in the mornings. I'd highly recommend this as a great place to stay while in CT!

    Eileen2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We felt like we were living in a bit of early American history in this lovely historical dwelling. We appreciated the keurig, the comfy chairs in the living room (where I finished a book while bathed in the morning sun), the recommendation of 85 Main (yum), and enjoyed having the hummingbirds inspect us as we relaxed out front. Idyllic.

  • This is a wonderful place to stay. Located in a small town in CT it is quaint and cozy. The room and bathroom were very clean and nicely decorated. We found it very comfortable. Cris and Tom have a nicely furnished common room where you can sit and enjoy the lovely views of the countryside. We enjoyed walking in the fields out behind the home and the foliage was magnificent. We look forward to staying here again!

  • My wife and I had a wonderful weekend. Cris was the perfect host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rural setting could have been a feature story in Yankee Magazine. Cris’ home is a beautifully restored 1730s house. It was like stepping back in time with wide board floors, authentic hardware, period woodwork, trim, and paint…but it looks like a brand new house with modern conveniences. The Airbnb portion of the house is private. Guests have their own entrance. Cris has 2 bedrooms for guests that share a common living room. The home was spotless. We left the window open at night. We could see stars and hear the night sounds of crickets and tree frogs. It was a relaxing way to fall asleep. After a hectic few weeks at work, my wife and I could not think of a better way to spend the weekend. We came back feeling so refreshed. There are many things to do in the area such as the airline trail state park for hiking and biking. We had a picnic lunch at Roseland park and visited the brand- new Taylor Brooke brewery in Woodstock, CT. We also had dinner at The Vanilla Bean in Pomfret, CT. The food was superb, and the live music was even better. I highly recommend the chili. Another few weeks and it will be fall. I’m sure the foliage in the towns near Cris’s home will be wonderful. Thank you Cris and Tom for the enjoyable visit.

  • Much different than a normal airbnb! This house has it's own vacation rental agreement you have to sign and send back by email. It is a bit overwhelming when you are used to how airbnb is normally ran! It all makes sense though once you are there though. It is a an absolutely wonderful space, perfect for large groups. Beautiful outdoor area, multiple bedrooms, nice furnishing, would highly recommend to any group! Thanks Christine!

  • We lived in Northeastern Connecticut for over 60 years before relocating to Florida several years ago. Thinking about visiting friends and family in the area, we stumbled on the idea of renting a lake property in the hope that they would come to us, rather than our having to travel place to place. This property turned out to be more than perfect. It is located on a beautiful, clean lake, with no powerboats, jet skis, or loud parties allowed. The kids in the family (18 months to 17 years old) all had fun swimming, jumping from the dock, and using the water toys provided (kayaks, paddle boat, noodles) with the safety precautions provided by the host (life jackets in various sizes). The adults enjoyed the screened in porch and the shaded patio area. The living area is large enough to host sleep overs as there are 3 bedrooms with extra futons and sofas in various areas. Pre-teens especially loved the ground floor walk out ( a 'man-cave' for kids) with TV and video player, tables for game playing, and plenty of seating. Bonus here is a 3/4 bath for those wet kids to clean up and dry off. The only caveat for older renters is the clearly noted fact that there are lots of stairs - great for aerobic exercise - but can be a bit much for any inactive seniors. A great location, nice property, and a gracious and helpful host.

  • Thanks Paula for being an exceptional host to our family! This is truly home away from home. We just loved the experience

    Viet2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for two nights. Paula the host was awesome. Very responsive and has great snacks and other treats waiting for us. The views and the house itself are fantastic. Very unique and European. I can't wait to stay again.

    Daryle2019-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the Gökotta house was a wonderful experience. We stayed there for three nights over the thanksgiving break, enjoying every minute we spent inside the house. Though, the wood stove is not allowed for guest use, due to the extremely cold temperatures, Paula started a fire upon our arrival and inspected all the water pipes to insure our comfort. Other than the great views and comfortable modern amenities found in the house (heated floors, heated towel racks, bidet, etc.), the kitchen is the key room of the house. The variety of appliances, cooking utensils, and space allowed us to perfect our thanksgiving meal. The sun room was also a favorite of ours as the late autumn light brought much warmth as we gazed down on the beautiful pastoral Pomfret landscape. We hope to come back to this wonderful home in warmer weather to better utilize the sun room and the outdoor pizza oven.

    Dennis2018-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Paula and her home were absolutely perfect. From the thoughtful recommendations that Paula provided to the wonderful home, we left relaxed and full of memories. It was an easy place for my husband and my parents to stay. The upstairs provides much privacy as well as a nice working area. The master bedroom bed was soooo comfy! Downstairs in the guest room, there were nothing but positive comments from my parents who said the bed AND pillows were comfortable too! The kitchen has everything you need, the pantry off the kitchen has lots of extra stuff.. like a crock pot which came in handy. We would stay here again in a second. Thank you Paula!

  • The house had everything we needed for playing at the lake and cooking meals. We had ample pots and pans, serving items and even some condiments that we forgot to pack. The lake is amazing and having access to the life jackets, kayaks and canoe just made our stay even more memorable. The neighborhood and neighbors were great. My kids enjoyed their first trip to New England. Thank you Tom

  • Another great stay at Tom and Becky's cabin!!! Even though not one ray of sunshine came out and it rained all week we still enjoyed relaxing on the sunporch, even lighting the wood burning stove and watching movies one night. When the rain would let up we'd go out fishing and we did good, sm and lg mouth bass and rainbow trout, one trip we stayed out in the rain to fight a trout... the lake is beautiful even in the rain. The cabin is cozy and the neighborhood is friendly and great for morning walks, even in the rain. We can't wait to return in the spring. Thanks again Tom and Becky for sharing your home with us.

  • We loved our time at the lake. The lake is beautiful and crystal clear! Tom provides tubes and pool noodles to float on, we also used some snorkel gear too. Tom was very good about giving us all the information we needed for our stay ahead of time, as he was away on vacation during our stay.

    Andrea2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Love, love, love this place!!! From the drive through the neighborhood, to the rustic cabin, and the beautiful lake. Tom and Becky supply everything you need for an amazing stay. We enjoyed taking the boat out before sunrise and catching fish while the sun came up, having breakfast at the picnic table by the lake, swimming all day in the clear water, dinner in the sun porch, then more fishing off the dock...What more could you ask for. We're already planning our next visit. Thank you both for sharing your home with us.

Country living at its best. Renovated guest space on a working alpaca farm. This is a two story unit with a kitchenette, living room and bathroom on the first floor and a studio loft on the second floor. Two decks, one on each level overlook the farm. Recently renovated. Great light floods the unit. Central heat & AC. Enjoy the farm and the bucolic setting in Woodstock. Watch the alpaca from your windows or deck. Cafes for morning breakfast and fine dining await.
Guests have access to the farm except the alpaca barn. Guests can see and interact with the alpacas right outside the apartment.

  • Jeff’s place is absolutely lovely. The bathroom and kitchen area were clean and well stocked. The bed was quite comfortable. The best part for me was the gorgeous property this place sits on. We were here in the fall and the whole surrounding area is picturesque...great for relaxing drives in the countryside. Jeff was attentive and helpful providing us tips on the local cuisine. Be sure to check out Elizabeth’s Farmhouse. Yum!

    Lynne2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Barn Suite exceeded our expectations. We were thrilled to open the door and find such a welcoming, spacious apartment to call home for a few days. The large windows in the upstairs loft bedroom and numerous windows encircling the first floor allow for great views of the alpacas grazing nearby, as well as easy viewing of lovely sunrises and sunsets. The bed is also very comfortable, with soft, warm blankets, and the kitchen area is cleverly equipped with enough appliances and dishes to make a full breakfast (or other meal of your choosing). We were glad we chose to visit in the fall, as the colorful leaves were a treat to enjoy as we explored the local area. Jeff was also very helpful and provided clear check-in instructions and unique area recommendations. Overall, we had a relaxing, comfortable, memorable stay and would highly recommend others take advantage of this special retreat in the countryside.

    Maureena2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were a little skeptical of a "barn apartment", but it was a fantastic experience for our 12-day stay. We spent much of our time outside on both balconies, when not exploring Jeff's recommendations of the the surrounding wineries, restaurants, and orchard. We also found it easy to stay in and cook full meals in the kitchenette and grill.

    Nick2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The description that Jeff has on the site doesn’t quite do this place justice. More than just a home or an Airbnb, Jeff’s place is a full working farm on a breathtaking property that has alpacas, chickens, natural greenery and tons of character. We stayed here for a week with the intent of having a quiet place to ourselves for a writers retreat. We spent a lot of our time in the guesthouse and on the farm and absolutely loved our time here. The guesthouse is attached to the red barn, built with exposed wooden beams and smartly renovated with central air, a modern kitchen area and bathroom, and a big spacious bedroom. The covered wooden deck downstairs has comfortable patio furniture that looks directly out toward the farm and the grass pastures where the alpacas come out to graze. The barn and the farm have a rustic charm to them, but if you look close, you’ll see that thought and care went into every part of the property’s design, from the flowers, to the pond, to sight lines. We were there for seven days and the farm gave us us a different look from the deck every day—we saw morning light and sunsets, and watched a thunderstorm pass over before the clouds broke and the sun came back again. We are lucky to have travelled a lot in our lives, but I have no qualms about saying that Jeff’s place is a stunningly beautiful and unique place to visit by anyone’s standard. It’s special. To top it all off, Jeff is an incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and generous host. He has a great list of recommendations for the area which he shares with you at check in, including a number of local restaurants and a great ice cream stand on a dairy farm. He is responsive to messages and says he likes things to “be perfect” for his guests, which for us everything was. Do we wish we stayed longer? Yes. Would we recommend this to others? Absolutely? Would we come back? In a heartbeat.

  • This is a special place with in a New England comfortable country setting .

    Amy2019-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Bucolic setting, with views of the farm, surrounding hills, sunsets, and the Alpaca barn and pastures filled with many, wonderful and fun Alpaca! Jeff is a wonderful, and clearly very experienced host. He made us a very helpful set of videos for check in and was traveling in Europe and checked in frequently, while managing the time difference to be sure we had everything we needed! The space is a spectacular custom built apartment in a fully restored barn! It was very comfortable, with a wonderful loft, huge windows, all needed amenities, including fresh flowers, grill, two beautiful decks one upper, one lower, with comfortable seating. The location is several minutes from town - a true country retreat!! Thank you so much Jeff!!!

  • Perfect weekend getaway from busy city life! Jeff was accommodating, gave very clear check-in instructions, and reached out to us during our stay to make sure that everything was going well. The barn suite was such a unique and incredible space... beautiful architecture, plenty of space to do our work, curl up and watch tv, and even relax on the balcony during one of the sunnier mornings! The views from the loft and balcony were absolutely wonderful. We could watch the alpaca from up there as well. We took up some of the local suggestions and we were not disappointed. Would definitely recommend staying at this place.

  • Jeff's farm was the perfect place for us to unwind before our return to Europe after traveling the US for 2 weeks. Both the barn and the surroundings are extremely beautiful and peaceful and Jeff went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. We even managed to cook some decent meals in the little kitchenette (we had contacted Jeff beforehand to ask about the kitchen amenities and Jeff told us that they were limited, so no criticism here whatsoever). For an extended stay, it would be great to be able to cook with a little more equipment and Jeff has mentioned that he is currently considering how to improve the kitchen situation. Other than that, the barn is just plain beautiful with its amazing wood structure and unparalleled country views. We highly recommend this place to anyone who likes to get away from the city buzz and just kick back for a few days in paradise-like surroundings.
