Applegate Cottage is an adorable cottage right on Highway 13 in Herbster, WI - the gateway to the abundant orchards and wineries of Bayfield, and the Apostle Islands - all just half an hour away. A very short walk to beautiful Lake Superior, located on the Lake Superior Circle Tour. Enjoy kayaking, or explore the sea/ice caves. One hour from the infamous Birkie Trail. There is absolutely no better place to enjoy any season of the year!
Applegate cottage is a open lay-out modern home. Enjoy the upstairs loft, complete with a balcony and screened in-porch. The kitchen is ready for you to work your magic, but there are also several places to eat in Bayfield, Port Wing, Washburn, Corny and Herbster.
  • Comfy, clean little house close to Lake Superior. Great for a quiet getaway with access to lots of nature. Very friendly, accommodating host. Thanks Holly!

  • Great location to check out all of the great locations around Lake Superior

  • Applegate Cottage checks all the boxes. It's cute and spacious, the location is fabulous, and the price is fantastic! Holly is a great communicator both through the instructions given and in messaging back and forth. She changes the door code with each guest, so it feels secure while being a breeze to check-in. The cottage is a short walk to the beach and is right off the highway for super easy access to Herbster and other area towns to explore. You have to check out all of the little shops and restaurants along the shore. So many wonderful places to visit and Applegate is the perfect place to call home while you do. Highly recommended! Thank you, Holly!

  • Our stay at Applegate Cottage was relaxing. The cottage was warm and inviting from the minute we opened the front door. We had plenty of space to curl up and read a book, watch a movie, eat a few delicious meals and play cribbage (and sleep, too). The cottage is located a little bit out of the way from the things we were planning on doing, but we knew that going in. The drive to all of our hiking/snowshoeing destinations was fine because we didn't have a schedule. The shower was a great warm up at the end of a chilly day outside. The location is a close walk to Lake Superior, which would be wonderful in the summer. A very enjoyable stay!

  • Applegate Cottage is a great place to stay for a weekend getaway. We enjoyed our experience there and were thrilled that we were able to have our pet with us for the weekend!

  • Beautiful open and quaint space. Nice hole-in the wall bar that is only a five minute walk. Great access to the calmer shores of superior. Will visit again.

Garden House provides a quiet adventure near Lake Superior's South Shore featuring fine arts, collectable books, and the art of conversation. It is set on five areas of gardens and forests in the fishing village of Port Wing, Wisconsin.
The Suite has a private ground floor entrance to a large room with a queen bed, and a sitting area with a sofa and two side chairs. The adjacent room has two twin beds, a chair, and a dresser. The two rooms share a common bath with a shower. It is not wheelchair accessible, but does have low thresholds that people with walkers have used. It is adjacent to the common family room, gallery, and small gift shop. Breakfast is served in the dining room, which is seven steps up. If staris are an issue we can make other arrangements.
You can "read all about it" at the Port Wing web site. Spend time at one of three beaches, two of which are in State Natural areas. Shop at the Hoth Lee Art Gallery, which features top regional artists, and the Fisher Under Cover Quilt Shop. Eat at The Port, The South Shore Bar, the Bear Paw, or one of the community dinners - they sure know how to cook in Port Wing. Visit the History Center, if it's not open, ask around and find a key.
  • Stunning setting in a wooded area with deer meandering through nearby woods. Impeccable hospitality of hosts, Tom and Karleen, who are delightful and charming! The food was scrumptious, the service lovely, the home beautiful—filled with interesting art, and sparkling clean throughout! And a sweet, well-behaved dog.

    Becky2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Tom's the Suite at Garden View was truly a great place to stay in Northern Wisconsin. Their hospitality was "over the top" for an Airbnb. Tom and Karleen are truly wonderful hosts.

  • Such lovely hosts! I immediately felt comfortable and welcome! I would suggest this place to anyone who is looking for a cute place to stay!

    Sara2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • This is very nice bed and breakfast. The breakfast was presented in a lovely way and tasted delicious every time. The location is quiet and not too far from the sea caves in cornucopia. Finding places to eat was the only difficult part, if you dont like bar food things are limited and places close early. Overall I would come here again as it was a great stay, the hosts were informative and welcoming, and the grounds were beautiful.

    Zach2019-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Expect quiet, spacious, beautifully decorated areas in this B&B. Tom and his wife made the most amazing homemade breakfast for my family. She gave us ideas, suggestions on shopping, sight seeing, places to eat. Would most definitely recommend the family suite to families of 4. Beautiful home, backyard and comfy beds. Would 10/10 stay here again!

This rustic, but modernized farmhouse is on 110 acres of woods, apple orchards, and a scenic creek bed. Located just 3 miles from the South Shore of Lake Superior, and 30 minutes from the Apostle Island Sea Caves, Kinney Valley Farm is a quiet place, great for bird watching and relaxing, shared only with deer and coyotes. A comfortable place to stay, while exploring Lake Superior beaches, nearby inland lakes and waterfalls, woodland trails, and the pastoral beauty of Northern Wisconsin .
The house and farm are located on a quiet country road, and are set back from the road. The farm and surrounding creek and woods are easily explored from the house.
Rural gravel roads with cows and neighbors well spaced!
  • Great hosts and a great place. Both rustic and comfortable.

  • Nice cozy house! Great ski trails to explore all throughout the property!!

    Shelly2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time staying at Ann and Dave's place-- it's become our and our friend's go-to spot for cross-country ski weekends on the North Shore! Ann and Dave are incredibly thoughtful, sweet people, their cottage is as cozy as could be, and you're surrounded by the beauty of the North Shore with a number of great cross country ski spots not too far away.

    Jessie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay. Our second time here. We use it as a base for skiing. The hosts are extremely friendly & helpful. Its a cozy little farmhouse & the surrounding countryside is peaceful & lovely.

  • Super friendly and accommodating. Loved the peace and quiet :)

  • This cozy house is perfect for a getaway in Wisconsin! Beautiful scenery and wonderful amenities. Close to town but far enough to be out in nature.

    Elise2019-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing! Come here in the fall and stay a while. Great location between Ashland and Duluth making short day trips easily doable. Ann and Dave are the epitome of small town hospitality hostess and we couldn't have asked for better. The apple farm is beautiful and the fall colors were just making their appearance. The space is clean and easy to find via GPS, even in the dark. Ann had great tips for local thigs to see and do and even has a binder with more information. I can't say enough positive things here. We will definitely be back!

    Renie2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sweet little farmhouse on the beautiful South Shore. We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen for making our own meals, loved the book shelf options, and enjoyed hiking around the orchard as the sun set. Ann is a lovely, responsive, kind host. This is a great option of where to stay for anyone wanting to explore the South Shore.

The water at the artisan well is the BEST I have ever tasted and only a few minutes drive!! Nice time to check out from everything and just relax with no wifi and limited service!

  • This is such a neat place! It’s wide open (besides bathrooms and main bedroom) with lots of room for activities. There’s a hammock, treadmill, TRX bands, and much more. Lots of places to hangout and listen to music with the integrated speakers and aux cord. There is no traditional kitchen (no stove or full size refrigerator) but there is a small fridge for drinks as well as a microwave oven. I would absolutely stay here again!

    Michael2020-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cool space. Full of (good) surprises. Great value. Would definitely stay again.

    Garrett2020-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of space! Beat staying in an over-pricey hotel room. Perfect for anyone traveling with kids. Host responded immediately to any questions I had.

  • Nick’s loft is such a fun and unique space. My boyfriend and I felt like kids getting to utilize such a large area with neat touches. We loved it so much and plan to be back again soon!

    Kaylen2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This place was a great find. We loved the ample space and the neighborhood bar below. Nick was really easy to communicate with and greeted us with an immaculately clean studio.

    Mike2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Nick's place was great fun. It was pretty hard not to hook up our phones to the in-ceiling speakers and have a dance party before we hit the hay. It was also nice after a long drive to be able to head downstairs for a beer (and to meet some locals). Our stay was short but sweet and provided everything we needed for a quick stop-over.

    Lorie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great and a perfect place to stay, super close to great Hikes in Washburn and Bayfield. with a gorgeous little walk down to check out the port and peer. A great place to stay in all seasons. Space was perfect giving plenty of room to cook, relax and even do a puzzle.

    Conor2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jon's Unit 3 is a cute and quaint place. It's perfect for one couple and pet-friendly too. It's super clean and has a well-stocked kitchen. Check-in and check-out were relaxed. This unit is located in the woods and near Highway 13, yet we heard very little highway noise. You do not have a view of Lake Superior, but it is only a short walk to the shoreline, and only a few minutes from Bayfield. Parking is limited, so if you are coming with a trailer or boat, be sure to check with Jon on where to park. I'm sure he'll help you out. I highly recommend staying with Jon.

    Paula2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve stayed in Bayfield before and this has been my favorite spot for sure! We had our dogs with us, so having the place to walk them right nearby was great. And the apartment was an nice size and had just the right amount of amenities. Jon was a helpful host and we will definitely stay here again!

    Brigitte2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Jon’s place was a great place to stay if you are doing things in Bayfield. The place was clean and as advertised.

    Randy2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, Jon was a great communicator and made check in really easy. Kitchen was well appointed allowing me to prep some simple food. Jon gave me a good local restaurant tip which was really helpful. He also offered suggestions in case I had to stay longer because of weather. Will be back!

    Dana2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a great place. Serene and peaceful. A calm quiet place to stay that is close to everything Bayfield has to offer.

    Joanne2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • The condo is fantastic, very comfortable and close to walking trails. The kitchen was fully equipped, and it seemed like Jon had thought of everything, down to multiple brochures and trail maps for the area, free WiFi, Netflix, and even a spare Apple charger! He informed us that he's expecting some upgrades in the next week or so, so it is likely to be even better, though we wouldn't have changed a thing.

Explore thousands of acres of the Bayfield County Forest and enjoy endless miles of exceptionally maintained non-motorized recreational trails. The yurt has direct access to CAMBA mountain bike trails and Mt. Ashwabay ski trails. The landscape is also spectacular. Take in the panoramic views of Lake Superior and the Onion River valley. This is a rustic, minimally maintained yurt set in the middle of the county forest, so come prepared to relax, unwind and explore the wonders of the north woods.
This yurt is nestled in the Bayfield County Forest and is only accessible by foot, snowshoe, ski, or bike. Our yurts are 20 feet in diameter and insulated for year round use, complete with woodstove. Fire wood is provided only for heating with the woodstove. The yurt comes equipped with 2 bunk beds; a full mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on top and sleeps up to 6 people. No linens or pillows are provided, so be sure to pack your sleeping bag. A picnic table is also located inside the yurt. Outside the yurt we have a bear proof box to store all your food, along with a deck, picnic table, fire ring, and outhouse. This is bear country and the yurts are made out of fabric. Please use the box to store all food and never leave food inside the yurt. A rundown of the basics: Bathrooms: the yurt does not have indoor plumbing, nor access to water, but is located near a pit toilet/outhouse, which is available year-round. Capacity: Can sleep up to 6 people. Additional overnight guests are not allowed. Accessibility: Only accessible by foot, snowshoe, ski, or bike. No motorized vehicles, of any kind, are allowed. The hike in is about 2/3 of a mile, up hill nearly the entire way. There are steep stretches, so please take your time and plan accordingly. Cooking: All yurts have a picnic table and fire ring with grill grate for outdoor cooking, and a bear proof locker for secure outdoor food storage. No candles, or other open flames are allowed inside the yurt. Cooking is permitted in the yurt only during the winter (on top of the metal hot plate). Extra caution must be used when cooking inside the yurt. Electricity: no access to power. Water: no running water or direct/immediate access to water. Prepare accordingly. Closest water sources would be the ski chalet at Mt. Ashwabay, Lake Superior (must be filtered), or the cities of Washburn or Bayfield. Heat: Yurts have a wood stove for heat. Split firewood is provided for use in the woodstove only. Matches, lighters or other ignition sources are not provided, so please plan accordingly. Firewood: Wood will be provided for the wood stove which heats the yurt. Firewood for the woodstove is stored under a large covered lean-to. Dead and down wood can be collected from the surrounding forest for use in the fire ring. A bow saw and axe are also provided. Pets: no pets allowed within the yurt or on the premises. No exceptions. Smoking: no smoking within the yurt. If you do smoke outside, please discard butts in the fire ring.
The yurt is roughly located in between the cities of Washburn (about 9 miles to the south, from the yurt parking lot) and Bayfield (about 7 miles to the north). Both locations contain gas stations, a grocery store, numerous restaurants and other quaint shops. The city of Ashland is located about 10 miles south of Washburn. The yurt is also in close proximity to numerous outstanding public Lake Superior beaches. Access to the Sioux River Beach (North - Bayview) is approximately 2 miles to the south of Whiting Road. Access to the Sioux River Beach (south - across from Friendly Valley Road) is another mile south of the northern access. These beautiful sandy beaches connect and provide about 1.5 miles of Lake Superior access, with unbelievable views of Madeline and Long islands. This yurt is also located just over the hill from Big Top Chautauqua (about 1 mile to the east). Shows run from around the middle of June through the middle of September. Check their website for schedules. The Mt. Ashwabay ski hill is also located about 1 mile to the east of the yurt (same general area as Big Top). Access to all of the cross-country ski trails is included as part of your stay, but use of the ski hill is not. The ski hill provides plenty of downhill skiing, as well as sledding opportunities. They also rent skis, snowboards and snowshoes. Bayfield County contains more public forest land than any other county in the state of Wisconsin. Nearly 172,000 acres of Bayfield County Forest land, about 273,000 acres of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, approximately 27,000 acres of state owned lands, roughly 6,000 acres of Parks Service lands and around 8,000 acres of other municipal owned lands. In total, about 51% of Bayfield County, almost 500,000 acres of land, is in public ownership. The opportunities to explore and recreate are almost endless.
  • Our stay at the yurt was incredible! We were able to enjoy two days of great skiing (including some fun night skiing), with ski trails accessible just a 2 minute ski from the yurt. Fantastic view, clean, cozy and warm yurt, easy check-in, etc. We hope to be back next winter!

  • My first time in a Yurt and it was great! The hike up wasn’t bad at all. Very quiet and private. The view was amazing! Love reading other guests adventures in the guestbook. Took a bit to heat up but once it was warm it stayed nice.

    Lane2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful, peaceful wilderness retreat! This is about as nice as you can get while ‘roughing it’ in the woods. The hike up the hill is no joke, but so worth it! Lots of hiking and outdoor adventures right outside the door.

    Deb2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our time at Evergreen! The sunset from the deck as on our first night after the hike in was wonderful. We had planned to ski our sled in, but after seeing the snow conditions and the steepness we opted to walk. I would recommend snow shoes in the winter over skis!

We spent our evening walking through down town and enjoyed sitting at the beach watching the sunset. Sandy was awesome and is such a kind host. I would highly recommend the "Raccoon House". It was such a nice stay for a wonderful night away! There is no other place like it in the area. We will definitely visit again. Thanks Sandy!!! Michael & Liz

  • Good location for a great price. Makes a good home base for exploring the north shore. Michelle is very friendly and communicative, quick to respond and offers great advice.

    Andrew2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Michelle’s place was a lovely little spot to spend a solitary weekend during the beginnings of the pandemic in MN! We spent time reading on her comfy couch in her living room and hiked trails she had maps of in her place! She was accommodating and kind, the space was cozy and peaceful! We’d recommend it to anyone!

  • We had a great time at Michelle’s place! Her home is cozy and comfortable and full of fun art. It had everything we needed for kitchen, bedding, bath, etc. we explored 5 nearby parks on our stay - Tettegouche, Split Rock, gooseberry, palisades and jay cooke. We also loved adventuring out on the breakwater. We hope to come back soon!

Welcome to Casa Cranberry! Settle into the peace and quiet near the south shore of Lake Superior in the northern Wisconsin woods. Have a campfire next to the Cranberry River, and let the sounds of the river lull you to sleep at night. Fish in this class A trout stream, play on the Herbster and Cornucopia Beaches, hike in the woods, or kayak on Lake Superior. Casa Cranberry is a perfect jumping-off point to explore Bayfield and the Apostle Islands.
Casa Cranberry is a perfect year-round cabin. It is wonderfully peaceful in the summer, with miles of forests and beaches to explore. The cabin has all the comforts of home, nestled in the Northern Wisconsin Woods. It is very kid friendly and is a perfect family get away. It is also spacious and accommodating for groups of friends for a get together. The cabin has internet and some cell phone service. AT&T works well, but that's about it. The kitchen is fully stocked. Plan to bring all your own groceries. There is a charcoal grill available to use. There is no hunting or firearms allowed on the property. Fishermen are welcome. Pets are not allowed.
Casa Cranberry is three miles from Lake Superior and picturesque Herbster Beach; 10 miles from the Cornucopia Beach and shops; and 30 miles from Bayfield where the ferry leaves for Madeline Island. There are cross-country skiing trails about 20 miles away at Valhalla Recreation Area. The Cranberry River - a class A trout stream - borders the property. The river is right out the front door. Enjoy falling asleep to the sound of the river.
  • This is a beautiful home. Well-appointed kitchen. Spotless. Big bonus was the turn-table with classic albums. Rebecca's communication with us was stellar. Five adults enjoyed the place comfortably. I can't say enough good things about this place!

    Amy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A very well-stocked kitchen, and cozy space made this a great place for a winter vacation. We snowshoed during the day and came back to cook dinner, relax, and play board games. A cozy and comfortable cabin stay !

    Alicia2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of four was right at home at Casa Cranberry. Cozy (plenty of blankets, cards & board games, gas fireplace) and organized well for a seamless stay. Location was gorgeous and close to Herbster and Hwy 13 for getting around the south shore. Our host, Rebecca, was responsive to questions and check-in was a breeze. We really loved our stay there and would love to visit again.

    Jess2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin in the woods was a perfect place to stay while we were in the area for Book Across the Bay! The cabin was well stocked, especially in the kitchen area, and had ample space for our group of five. The record player was an especially nice touch! Rebecca was very easy to communicate with and check in and check out were very easy. The local suggestions she had were also very helpful-we really enjoyed eating at Maggie’s in Bayfield as per her recommendations! I think this would also be a great place to stay in the summer. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a woodland get away!

    Britta2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The kind of place that would be easy to go back to.

    Paul2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin is the perfect place to stay for a northern Wisconsin getaway! Very nice amenities and atmosphere in a very private and remote location

    Seth2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Really enjoyed my stay at Casa Cranberry! The cabin location made the ice cave hiking trail easily accessible, and was a cozy place to relax in after our time outdoors.

    Hannah2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Casa Cranberry was beautifully secluded, but was still only a couple miles from the nearest town. The snow and stream by the house were gorgeous when we were there. The host also went above and beyond in her hospitality.

Relax with expansive views of Lake Superior as you bask in the glow of the fireplace's radiance. Waves echoing off the brownstone cliff upon which this special home is perched, absorb the splendor of bald and golden eagles soaring the sky only feet away. Minutes from your nest is Meyer's Beach, the common entry point to begin your kayak or hiking excursion to the sea and ice caves of this, the greatest of all lakes. Bike, hiking, motorsports and XC ski trails abound. Rest or play. It's all here.
A wall of windows keeps glorious Lake Superior in view while you enjoy the solitude of this home in the woods while lounging on all new, stylish furniture. Snowmobile and ATV trails/routes are literally at my driveway's entry point. The area also has world class, well maintained fat tire bike trails that are groomed for winter riding. Wanna mush your own sled team of dogs? That's available nearby as well. If indoor gaming is more your speed, just short of 20 minutes from Sky Fire towards Bayfield, "Legendary Water's & Casino" awaits your arrival. A peaceful, 1.3 mile walk from the home will have you stepping foot onto a glorious sandy swimming beach. With Lake Superior literally lapping at your feet, this beach stretches over a mile to the quaint town of Cornucopia where you'll find the marina, coffee shop, restaurant/bar and the, "It has everything" general store that is *Ehler's. A 23 mile drive into Bayfield, WI will take you to a charming community serving tourist and locals alike, all of whom have an affinity for the allure of the nearby Apostle Islands that await your visit. Just a short ferry ride away, quaint Madeline Island is yours to explore and enjoy. There are several wonderful hiking trails that lead to hidden oasis-type waterfalls in the area, to include nationally recognized, Siskiwit Falls! Siskiwit Falls carved out and polished a natural rock water slide that has been enjoyed for generation by those lucky enough to have discovered it. The cost for all of this family, outdoor fun enjoying the trails, falls and swimming holes? None and the return of memories made is priceless! Your wonderful day having turned to night, the dark, amazingly starry sky over Lake Superior may grace the night owl with a show of the amazingly beautiful northern lights. *Ehler's opens for the season on May 1st
Oh my goodness. Cornucopia is your starting point to the Apostle Islands National Lake Shore. As such, the outdoor activities to be had in the area are as endless as your imagination. Less than eight miles from Sky Fire lie the Sea Caves of the south shore that can be explored by kayaks. and boats alike. In the winter, these very caves become the Ice Caves you've seen covered by national media outlets. You can charter a captain to take you out in a boat to tour the Apostle Islands. A ferry is available in Bayfield (23 miles away) that's capable of taking you and your car/camper across Lake Superior to spectacular Madeline Island. Fishing charters are plentiful in the area. Hiking trails and more amazing hiking trails abound. If you like ATVing or biking, we have trails for those pursuits as well. Awesome nearby waterfalls include nationally recognized "Siskwit Falls" that makes a natural water slide for those playing in her waters and "Lost Creek Falls" with its great swimming hole at the base of the falls. There are parks and class 1 trout streams all within minutes of Sky Fire. If you are a seeker of the Aurora Borealis, otherwise known as the Northern Lights, the north view across the expanse of Lake Superior right from the comfort of the home provides excellent viewing opportunities should the Aurora forecast be in your favor.
  • Breathtaking views. Cabin goals. We’ll revisit soon

  • Space is lovely- great views, clean, well stocked and peaceful. There are 2 other properties but we didn't hear them. We didn't stay long enough to walk around, but I suspect it provides for some great sight seeing. Great space for 6 people with enough room, especially if you can enjoy the outside

    Beth2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A true home away from home and for a mom with grown children and grandchildren, it was a home to reconnect and enjoy each other’s company. The house was perfect and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. Not to mention Lake Superior right outside! Would definitely stay here again!

    Hedi2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • When booking a place for two 50-something friends to do our annual girls trip (without husbands/kids), we decided on the Bayfield/Madeline Island/Apostle Islands. We contemplated staying in each of the mentioned cities, bit determined that Bayfild was a bit too busy/expensive, Mad Island did not have enough to keep us busy for 3 days and this place seemed just right. Close enough to Bayfield to drive daily (25 minutes of easy driving) and so reasonable on price. So, we booked. Pros: Price/Location: The price is absolutely wonderful compared to homes in the cities mentioned. It was pretty centrally located to everything we wanted to do, and Lost Adventures (best kayak place) was minutes away for a caves trip. After spending nights in Bayfield, we were VERY happy to retreat to our quiet locale after dinners. Ehlers Market is a store about a mile from the house that had staples. Think hardware store with groceries (including high end cheeses and crackers, meats, milk and other staples). The Space: The space is WONDERFUL - gorgeous views of Lake Superior and insanely quiet and peaceful. The home is nestled in the woods overlooking Superior. Great room is large enough to feel spacious and the yard area is ample. Amenities are great....From the google system for music to the nicer appliances, we wanted for nothing. Fire pit area was wet appointed and even had marshmallow sticks! There are two bars that serve food within a few miles (note that they are not open Mon-Weds though!!!) The Cons: If you are looking for a party palace, this is not it. It is in a quiet residential area. If you need bars close to home, stay elsewhere. Bars/restaurants and nightlife is a drive. For us, this was not an issue as I prefer sunsets over Superior with wine in my hand! One bedroom had windows that only opened to the shared porch. Not an issue for us, but not a lot of airflow which could be an issue for some. If you are looking for GREAT value and a wonderfully clean space, this is it! We had a simply fabulous time and will 100% be back. I may even bring my husband and dog next trip! :) Thank you, Eli, for a great peaceful slice of life. Your home is amazing!

    Diane2019-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous cabin! It's attached to the owner's home through a breezeway but honestly I wouldn't have ever known - the cabin felt totally secluded and private. You get gorgeous views of the lake (no water access at the cabin but there are several wonderful beaches super close by!). The cabin itself was beautiful, clean, & cozy. Also a huge plus is that it's pet friendly!!

Be a part of nature and stay at a house among the trees. A unique place to unwind or recharge, or a home base to explore the many activities of Lake Superior's north shore.
The ReTreet House was completed in the spring of 2019! It is a well insulated and heated two story house built among the many white cedar trees on 30 acres of woods. The first level is a very comfortable bedroom with a queen size bed and large window overlooking the surrounding woods. The second level features a tree top view of the white cedar forest with a peek of Lake Superior. There is a full size sleeper sofa, kitchenette area with microwave, fridge, toaster oven, coffee pot, tea pot and a counter height table and chairs. A t.v. with Roku is mounted in the corner and wi-fi high speed internet is provided. There is no indoor plumbing, but a cold and hot water dispenser is available. Also, just steps away from the dwelling is a cute, clean, heated outhouse for your comfort.
The thirty acres we live in is heavily wooded, quiet and very private. Neighbors are not visible from the ReTreet House dwelling.
  • The treehouse is picturesque and has everything a person could ask for for a nice getaway. It is beautiful and clean as well as cozy. It was the perfect balance of camping and homey.

  • This was the best AirBnb experience I've had! Nancy and her husband had the fire going when we got there, and they came out to greet us right away! They showed us around and gave us some fun ideas of things to do while we explored Duluth! They were available for anything we needed, and even started the fire for us when we were on our way back from Duluth, so it was nice and warm when we got there! The tiny house was better than expected, and we even had some DELICIOUS pumpkin bread waiting for us. I would love to come back here again in the summer to experience the lake.

    Lexi2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much for such a lovely stay. The cabin was beautiful and warm, perfect for a cozy slow weekend in the snowy woods. Nancy and John were really quick with communication and extremely hospitable and welcoming. We had an amazing stay and hopefully can come back and enjoy it in summer time as well!

    Isabel2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • John has already started the fire for us upon arrival. After we arrived they walked us through the cabin and showed us how to start the fire back up again and gave us a map of hiking trails near by. Great cabin tucked in the woods on the lake, 10/10 would stay here again

8x20 post and beam one room tiny house on my south forty. Secluded and very private. There is a sports field 200 yards north of the cabin. There are groomed walking trails throughout the eighty acres the cabin sits on. This land is my little slice of heaven. There are thirty acres forested and fifty acres of open field. You're welcome to walk on and explore all of it. The cabin has a small kitchen and there is a grill outside. The fire ring has two benches and there is a composting out house.
There is an abundance of free fire wood all around the cabin due to much pruning I've done in the woods. Bring a camp saw if you want camp fires. I haven't built a shower yet but will be working on one as soon as I get a water heater. I provide you with 25 gallons of water but you may want to bring bottled water to drink.
This area is very rural and is surrounded by farm land. It's quiet and secluded and very peaceful.

A sea of green pine trees and white birch is all you see when looking out of the windows of this cozy, secluded cabin. You will hear a variety of birds, frogs, and other wildlife wandering throughout the 10 acres of full, lush forest, while you lounge on the deck, in the screened porch or next to a roaring fire in the firepit. This beautiful cabin is the perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking Houghton Falls or Meyers Beach, shopping in Bayfield, or paddling on Lake Superior.
There is a wood burning stove for heat if needed. For more recreation...you can drive your ATV or snowmobile right out of the cabin driveway and explore the area in any season.
There is much to do in the area...Just 1.5 miles away, at the end of Little Sand Bay Road, there is a Marina, a gorgeous sandy beach, and a beautiful campground. It is a great place to launch your kayak and visit the Apostle Islands, or drive 20 mins to Meyers Beach and explore the unique sea caves.
  • Stop looking and just book this place. You won’t be disappointed!!! Such a unique, cozy & stylish retreat with so many things to do nearby & on the property. Definitely coming back ASAP.

  • This place was so gorgeous I never wanted to leave! Cute and cozy inside, peaceful and serene outside. Just a 45 minute walk to Lake Superior! I saw tons a turtles and a huge beaver in the pond out back. The fireplace is a great touch. Kristin is kind and helpful. She told us where the best trails and food were located. Will definitely be back!!

    Anne2020-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Kristin has a very lovely place here! If you are looking for the perfect cozy North Woods cabin this is the place. I had quite a few other locations I was comparing the Copper Squirrel with but I’m so glad I discovered Kristin’s cabin. Very dark skies for stargazing. Very clean cabin. Kristin is a very responsive host. 10/10!

    Nick2020-03-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, tiny, cozy, and warm. Full amenities in beautiful isolation.

    Drew2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Kristin’s place is cozy, clean and off the beaten path. Exactly what we were hoping for. We loved our time there and hope to return in the future!

    Nicholas2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved Kristin’s place. It was the perfect getaway. It was very clean and had the majority of the essentials you would need. It’s located in a great spot to explore Northern Wisconsin. Then you can come back to the cabin and snuggle up by the cozy fire.

    Alexandra2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The perfect getaway for anytime of year. The perfection of a cabin in the woods realized. Easy to access, hard to leave. We will return again.

    Nick2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We could not have asked for a better experience and place to celebrate my boyfriend's surprise 40th birthday getaway! From the moment we stepped in the door, from the twinkling lights to the beautiful surroundings , we knew we were truly in a special spot! The cabin is warm, cozy and quiet. The wood stove was already going when we got there and our dogs almost immediately plopped down in front of it. It has all the amenities you could want and is clearly owned by someone who loves it very much! Kristin was very attentive and answered all of my questions via message and on the phone. She had many suggestions of places to eat and things to do. We took full advantage and her suggestions did not disappoint! (Though it was tough to leave the cabin! ) We're already planning to return in the summer! Thanks again for a truly awesome experience!

A unique vacation experience in a real log cabin listening to loon calls and enjoying beautiful sunsets. Cabin includes a kitchen complete with dishes, cooking utensils, coffee maker, pizza oven, and microwave. Bed linens are supplied. Please bring your own towels.
  • A great spot for a family! We caught fish from the dock, took boats out, played games, made smores, watched movies, and then did it all again. The location is great. We took a day trip to Ashland and Bayfield/Madeline Island and there's so much else to do nearby that we'll just have to come back for. The cabin is comfortable and the screened in porch really lovely. Sweet modern quilts decorate the rooms and it is clearly a loved family property. Thanks so much!

    Brooke2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Mary was a good hostess, meeting us at our convenience and sharing some local information. The cabin was just what the doctor ordered for a nice, quiet, secluded time away from the hustle and bustle of city life! Charming and cute, a lot of kitchen gadgets made cooking a breeze! Add in the handmade quilts and loons on the lake, it couldn't have been any better <3 Looking forward to our next trip up North!! Thanks again, Mary!

    Stacy2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! Very quiet neighborhood, property was very private, could only really see one neighbor's house from the fire pit, otherwise it seemed like we were in total seclusion! The lake was clean and great for swimming, kayaking etc. We made a day trip up to lake Superior and had fun exploring beaches and waterfall. Everyone had a great time! We only stayed 3 days but wished we had more time. Will definitely return next year!

    Penny2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to spend a vacation or a long weekend. The cabin has a nice selection of movies and games(if raining)and activities to do in the water(in the sunshine). Nice location and very clean. Listen to the loons calling first thing in the morning!! Any questions about the place are answered promptly. Thanks Mary for being a great host! Sandy

    Sandy2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Great location and great, family friendly cabin. Met all expectations.

    Matt2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Loved the screened in porch.

    Kathy2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Mary's cabin on Spider Lake was the perfect place for our week in Wisconsin. Not only was it a charming abode on a beautiful lake, she thoughtfully supplied 2 kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat--along with life vests--all of which saw ample use. That's not to mention a couple of floats for a lazy day on the lake and the 2 bicycles we didn't get around to using. We had such a great time on the lake, fishing, splashing, and just relaxing. Each night the loons would sing us to sleep and we would awake each morning to the chirp of birds. With town of Iron River just around the corner, it was easy to get our groceries, grab a meal, and learn a little local history. We found the location additionally wonderful because we could do easy trips out to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Pattison State Park (home to the tallest waterfall in Wisconsin), Duluth, MN, and blueberry picking in the nearby pine barrens. Mary left a list and brochures for plenty to do in the area--more than we could realistically do in our time there--and was always available should we need her, though we never did. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a North Woods get-away!

    Jeff2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Mary, We had such a wonderful visit at your authentic cabin! It felt like a luxury camping trip with loons, lake, kayaks, sunsets, s’mores, grill, cool night temperatures, screen porch and even more yet also with comfy beds and warm showers! There was more here than we expected. You thought through details which made it extra nice and the decor (like bed and wall quilts) made it feel like such a special place. It is obvious that you love this home. Thank you for making it available to our family with adult children and grand-baby. It was super fun with things nearby for mini day excursions!

The Cornucopia Sweet Retreat is a unique open concept living space above Corny Coffee in Cornucopia, Wisconsin. We are just steps from Lake Superior and the Cornucopia beach shops. Lost Creek Adventures is across the street and offers guided kayak tours to the sea caves, and Ehlers grocery store has wonderful deli sandwiches and salads. We are located 20 minutes from Bayfield, Wisconsin and the ferry to Madeline Island. The Cornucopia Sweet Retreat is a no smoking / no pet space.
The Cornucopia Sweet Retreat has a private entrance and parking behind the Corny Coffee shop. There is a private deck with a gas grill for guests to use. The rental unit has stairs in the entry way that go up to the rental space. Although the space is an open concept, the living and sleeping areas are defined and partially separated with shelving and furniture lay out. Towels and linens are provided as well as a nicely equipped kitchenette with dishes, glassware, and microwave cookware. There is a nice size refrigerator, coffee maker and grinder, crock pot, microwave and blender. There is a smart TV and free WiFi. A balcony off of the bedroom has a lake view where brilliant sunsets can be viewed.
A perk of staying above a coffee shop is the availability of purchasing fresh locally roasted coffee and homemade baked goods and ice cream during your stay. As a guest you get a complimentary coffee, tea and scone or similar priced bake good each morning of your stay. You are a few minute walk to a shallow, sandy beach on Lake Superior. Gift shops, kayak tours, quaint grocery store with a deli, farm store, post office, fresh fish and more. We are also 20 minutes from Bayfield and the Madeline Island Ferry.
  • Lovely room with great details. We loved all the books, in particular the book by Rien Poortvliet called Gnomes. It was very cold outside (We were a bit out of season, most things in Cornucopia were closed for the season) but we left with a warm feeling.

  • Amazing place!

    Jacob2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Terri is an incredibly thoughtful decorator with a great eye. The place was pristine, furnished with a homey sea theme. We loved the little touches she left for us, including circling her favorite hiking spots in a brochure. Also, staying above a coffee shop was definitely a daily morning pleasure. Hope to be back someday!

    Tiffany2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Spotlessly kept, very cozy. Movies and books and coffee and perfect use of every inch of space! The ONLY down side was the noise in the coffee shop in the morning if you’re a sleep in kind Vacationer. Otherwise, perfect!

    Shawn2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Like many of the other reviews, we also thought that the space was more spacious than we were expecting. There was a smart tv and a nice selection dvds (for grown ups and kids) for those times that we wanted to stay in and relax. A beautiful view of the lake from the balcony. Delicious treats when we arrived, and a breakfast credit. Each day that we were there, they offered 1 delicious savory option for breakfast and a variety of bakery items and coffee. CUTE coffee shop! We loved our stay there.

    Savanna2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Terri's place!! Truly a SWEET RETREAT!!! We absolutely loved all of their personal touches that made us feel so welcomed and loved! The place was extremely clean and simply adorable! They have thought of everything to make your stay as relaxing as possible! We even had delicious cookies waiting for us when we got there! We loved getting all the hints and tips on what to see and do and to top it off the morning coffee and scone were out of this world! We can't wait to go back! :-)

    Brooke2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Terri and her daughter went above and beyond making our stay feel cozy and comfortable. They even supplied a pack and play for our son and child gate making traveling with a little a little easier and safer. The space was so beautiful and had everything we needed including nice soaps and even some soaking salts for the bath. Coffee and treats from their amazing place downstairs we’re a special bonus we enjoyed every morning. Would highly recommend the sweet retreat for anyone looking for a genuine and warm experience on the south shore. We hope to come back again soon to explore more of this gorgeous area. Thank you!

  • This Cornucopia gem is not to be missed! As one visitor noted, the photos do not do it justice. It's an adorable space and attention is given to every detail. I came as a single person along with a married couple and it was perfect as a twin nook is situated at one end of the unit, and the larger bed, along with another twin is at the other end of the unit. It should be noted that the front bedroom is not completely closed off, if privacy is an issue. This would also be suitable for families. While coffee and a pastry from the cafe downstairs is included, there is also a coffeemaker in the suite, along with a small bag of beans. Cornucopia is a perfect base to explore the peninsula. It's small and quiet with a nice harbor, but not far from Bayfield and only 1.25 hrs from Duluth. I hope to go back!

Enjoy this beautiful 2.4 acre spot on clear Long Lake. Long Lake is 280 acres of fishing and recreational fun. The cabin and land are situated on the end of a point, providing you with 180+ degrees of relaxing lake views. With 267 feet of lake frontage, the property is located at the end of a dead end road so it feels very private, but still included in all of the things the lake has to offer. Bring your own boat or rent the pontoon. Enjoy the lake during the day and the sauna at night!
Bedroom 1: King Bed Bedroom 2: Queen Bed Living Room: Couch and Futon Bunkhouse (3 season): Queen Bed, Full Bed, and (2) Day Beds You are sure to soak in everything that this spot has to offer. While most northern Wisconsin lake lots are 100 feet of frontage, you will enjoy the additional space that this 267 foot lot offers to guests. Enjoy your morning coffee while watching the lake’s neighborhood eagle, or relax around the evening fire while listening to the loons. For guests that want to use the lake, we have a relatively sandy bottom access area for swimming (*this can fluctuate some with lake levels*). If the water is high you can always rent the pontoon and lounge on that. For those that want to fish, bring your own boat or fish right off the dock. Largemouth bass, northern, crappie, perch, bluegill, and the occasional walleye can all be at the end of your line casting off the property. We have a canoe and paddleboat available free of charge and there is a pontoon available for an additional daily or weekly fee. The house has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with a fully furnished kitchen. The living room ties into a cozy lake viewing area off the front of the house. Two decks can be found on either side of the house. A washer and dryer are provided in the house for your convenience. Just behind the house is a cute tongue and groove bunkhouse that can comfortably sleep a minimum of 4. The bunkhouse is insulated and heated but we treat it more as a 3 season sleeping area. Please take note of this for sleeping accommodations when planning a winter trip as it will reduce the amount of guests allowed. A gorgeous wood-fired sauna is located on the property for you to use at your leisure. We provide all the wood you will need. In the lakefront shed you will find some yard games, campfire accessories, and swimming toys for children. The driveway can easily accommodate a handful of vehicles and utility or boat trailers so bring your toys if you wish! The ATV and snowmobile trails are approximately 1 mile from the house and can be accessed directly from the property. Additionally, Long Lake has a public boat launch on the other side of the lake. We want to provide you with the best experience we can and pride ourselves on improving the stay for each continual guest. We love our property and hope you will as well!
  • This place is so perfect. Not far out of town and super accessible. Cabin is clean, fresh, and new. The sauna and resident eagle at the lake major add to the experience big time. You will have everything you need in the kitchen to make great meals and the cabin is well stocked with everything you will need. Great movie selection too, for quiet evenings. Owners are a dream to work with: they communicate well, are flexible, and super accommodating. Great place for a cabin stay, no matter the season or weather situation.

    Eric2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a snowmobile trip with 8 guys. The cabin is very homey and has a great view of the lake! The snowmobile trail is easy to access from the cabin. The cabin was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The driveway has plenty of room to park trucks and trailers. The host is very quick to respond to any questions you have and was very easy to work with! We had a great time staying here and will definitely be planning a future trip at this cabin!

  • This place was an amazing find. It was our family’s first time in the area for the whistle stop marathon, and it could not have been a more convenient location in proximity to the start of the race. When I mentioned we were traveling with our 3 young kids, Jeff made sure that sleeping arrangements were accommodated for the little ones. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a nice variety of kids toys, books, and games when we arrived. Information on all of the cabins amenities was very clearly and thoroughly documented, and Jeff was extremely responsive and helpful leading up to our stay. This was a great spot to get away and enjoy the fall colors. I’d love to visit again sometime in the summer to enjoy the lake a bit more. Overall this was one of the smoothest Airbnb experiences we’ve had. Thanks again Jeff!

    Zach2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my family of 8 came here for a small family reunion of sorts and we were very comfortable here (even more people could fit easily). The host were very nice and quick to respond. My family and I absolutely loved the sauna there so take advantage of that! Overall it was a beautiful view to the lake and only 1 hour from Duluth. Perfect location to do some adventuring as well as staying in to enjoy a very cozy house on a lake.

    Alena2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing and we loved our time here. The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths and a kitchen with everything you need to cook with. There is an open deck with a place to eat and a gas grill to cook with as well. There is a separate bunkhouse that has 2 queen beds and 2 couches that my granddaughters stayed in. They loved having their own space and the adults loved that they had their dance off parties in there as well 😂 The outdoor sauna was amazing and fires in the outdoor fire pit complete with S’Mores and Jiffy Pop popcorn happened each and every night. We also rented the pontoon for a few days and really enjoyed jumping off and swimming in the middle of the lake. Plenty of “sunnies” were caught off the dock all day long and we are pretty sure we caught some a few times! My 5 year old grandson said he was going to buy this cabin when he turns 21😂 Such a great place...you won’t be disappointed!

Our property was renovated in 2012 as a wedding venue, but our couples loved the Cottage so much they kept asking to come back. It's a cozy one-bedroom house set up against the treeline. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning on the private porch, go snowshoeing around Brule River State Forest in the afternoon, then watch a few movies in the evening with your sweetheart. Check out our other listing "Farmhouse at Brule River Barn"
The Cottage is a small cottage with an open living area, single bedroom, and a full bathroom. During the summer months, it serves as a place for couples to stay as they get married on the property. For the rest of the year, it's a quiet hideaway for couples or a small family to get away from it all. We strive for 5 stars, so please let us know right away if anything is amiss so that we may rectify the situation as soon as possible. We want your stay with us to be memorable in the best way possible!
Even though Brule is a town of 600, there's no shortage of things to do. Whether you're drinking coffee on the porch, kayaking the Brule, or shopping in Canal Park, you will never be bored. The Bois Brule ("Burning Wood") River is the best-known river in the Lake Superior watershed. This river is famed especially for its trout fishing, revered for its prolific mayfly and stone fly hatches. The lower river (near Brule, WI) falls 328 feet over 18 miles through the rocky Copper Range region. Here, flashing cascades tumble over rocks and ledges and between steep river bluffs forested with aspen and balsam fir. This makes the Brule especially good for canoeing and kayaking, with a number of available runs that vary from short and flat to longer and more adventurous. Duluth is only 40 minutes from this quiet getaway, and boasts many local shops with unique offerings, as well as a thriving arts and entertainment culture. There are also many top-notch eateries in Duluth. Enjoy Duluth during the day, and relax at the house at night.

  • Uncle Bob’s Cabin is exactly what I had in mind for a North Woods getaway— it is the quintessential cabin. We enjoyed the view of the partially frozen lake and the tall pine trees out the back windows, all along the lake. Our pups enjoyed the smells and hikes we took in the area. We had everything we needed in the kitchen to make a great meal. On a side note— I thought it was charming that the spice cabinet had herb containers dating back to 1979– we didn’t use those ones of course. Our other favorite part was making a fire in the evening and enjoying the warmth and ambience until we were too tired to keep talking. We will be back again when we can get out on the lake for some fishing and boating.

  • Ed's cabin was wonderful. He met us to let us in, showed us around the place, and was very warm and welcoming. The cabin could comfortably sleep 6 between the two beds and fold-out couch. The fireplace is gorgeous and warm. We had a great time cooking over the fire outside (despite the snow on the ground!). The lake was frozen and walkable still in mid-late March. The cabin is close enough to town that it's easy to get groceries, gas, etc. But the cabin is far enough that you feel like you're really in the woods. The Brule River spillway is nearby with great hiking - we saw only one other person on the trail. We woke up to lynx tracks on the ice on the lake, and heard the howling of wolves at night. What a lovely place!

The 'kitchenette' was a special touch and we especially enjoyed the little extras treats. The house is perfectly located in Washburn with a breath-taking view. We look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful weekend away! Phil and Heidi

  • This is a lovely place to return to each day. Lots of goodies in the pantry and pop in the frig and a fresh pot of coffee each morning from your hosts. Extremely clean and lovely Northwoods decor. Soft king bed and wonderful shower. My daughter and I just loved the place. It is a couple of miles drive, inland from 13, and you will find total peace and quiet out there. And darkness to view starry skies.

  • Pilgrim’s Rest was a wonderful escape; immaculately clean and peaceful. The location gave easy access to the many activities of this beautiful area. Kent and Mary Beth were outstanding hosts and we enjoyed visiting with them and hearing their stories. We appreciated the amenities like a binder of suggested activities, restaurants, and area brochures. They also have a cozy gas fireplace, snacks (including instant oatmeal), dishes, games, smart-TV with a Blu-ray player and lots of movies. Although it is in the lower level of the house, it doesn’t feel like you are in a basement as it has high ceilings, and large windows and a patio door that look out into the beautiful woods. We highly recommend staying here and plan on coming back.

  • There were so many thoughtful touches that the hosts, from the bathroom amenities to the food & beverages that were available. Kent helped us check-in, showing us around the BnB and explaining the various features and tips for the area. I'm very thankful that I found this BnB and would definitely recommend and return!

  • Kent and Mary Beth's place was perfect!! Very clean, comfortable and lots of extras that were not expected. A wonderful couple to visit with and get ideas for places to eat, visit and explore. They know the area well. They were respectful of our privacy and also available to answer any questions that we had. Our only regret is that we did not stay there the entire week! We are looking forward to staying with them again in the future.

  • "Pilgrims Rest" is a nature lovers paradise! The location is perfect for exploring everything the Chequamegon Bay Area has to offer. From breathtaking landscapes, that include waterfalls, hardwood forests, grassy beaches to the birds and animals that inhabit them, there is so much natural beauty to experience. Kent and Mary Beth's home is a perfect place to come back to after a day of exploration. It's own paradise in a nature setting, there are trails to explore and beautiful gardens attracting many species of birds, colorful butterflies and SILENCE from human-produced noises. (Something many of us don't get to experience very often) We prefer to stay in accommodations nicer than our own home. Pilgrims Rest checks all the five star boxes for Cleanliness, Comfort, Design, Amenities and Warmth. We look forward to our next stay and more exploration of your beautiful Naturescapes.

Secluded cabin that is great for a peaceful getaway. Tucked in the woods with access to trails right out the front door! Snowmobiling, four-wheeling, cross country skiing, skijoring, dogsledding, etc. Pellet stove for heat, a loft that sleeps two comfortably (also a pullout loveseat that will sleep one, and a couch), fridge to store your food, and a hot plate for cooking. No indoor bathroom but there is an outhouse. This is a great place for a small group that wants to enjoy a weekend in the National Forest! We do offer dog sled rides in the winter months. Visit Firestar Kennel on Facebook. The sled dogs do reside on the property as this is a working sled dog kennel. There is a separate entrance to the kennel and there are people there twice a day to care for the dogs (morning and evening).
Surrounded by National Forest. Six miles from the Town of Iron River and twenty miles from Ashland. Access to Tri County Corridor and endless trails in the National Forest. Saw Dust Lake is just down the road from the cabin. Iron River has many restaurants that can be accessed from the trails.
  • We had such a wonderful stay in this adorable secluded tiny house! Perfect weekend getaway! Easy to find, and it was an easy commute to the Whistlestop half marathon starting line for me. Krystal was very helpful and responsive on any questions I had. We would definitely stay here again!

  • We loved it here. The location is great, the cabin is adorable and Krystal was so nice and helpful. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Our yurt offers a sweet retreat in the woods about 10 miles outside of Bayfield. We are located on a small working organic farm with a high tunnel, gardens, apple trees, and rustic accommodations. We are close to great outdoor recreation near Lake Superior and are about 6 miles from Meyers Beach in the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Our property is located on 40 acres and is very remote. We are on the edge of thousands of acres of county land. The perfect escape!
A Few Notes: Electricity: We are an off-the-grid solar electric farm, so we have a limited amount of electricity. We suggest bringing a headlamp or flashlight as well as there is only one light in the yurt. In addition to the light, there is an iPod dock/radio. After November 1st, the fridge is turned off, but you can still store your food in it. Bathrooms: We have an outhouse with a composting toilet, so expect to venture out of the yurt to use the restroom. There is no shower onsite. Communication: We have a phone in the yurt for local calls and for emergencies. There is no WIFI or cell phone service. If you are looking to unplug, this is the perfect place for you! Heat: The yurt is heated by wood stove and wood will be provided. During the winter, know that it can take several hours to warm the space and be prepared to feed the fire overnight. Please do not bring your own firewood. We suggest bringing slippers to keep your feet warm during colder months. Pets: No Pets allowed! Period... Smoking: No Smoking INSIDE the yurt. Feel free to smoke outside, but dispose of your butts safely. Bedding: We have one full size futon in the loft and another full size futon on the main floor. Bedding and pillows are NOT provided. Please plan accordingly. Capacity: We have beds for 4 people, but we allow up to 6 people to stay. Obviously, that means numbers five and six have to sleep on the floor. We have hard wood floors, but a sleeping pad is the ticket if you are the lucky person on the floor! Or, feel free to set up a tent on the property if you prefer to have more space. Cooking: We provide a few basics: a set of dishes, silverware, pots/pans. We have a 4 burner propane stove. There is NO oven. We have a fridge for storing food, but it is turned OFF in the winter. You may still keep food in there during your stay. Please make sure your food is secure in the fridge or in a cooler inside the yurt. There are black bears around and we don't want them to eat your dinner. No candles or open flames in the yurt. Water: We provide a 5 gallon jug of water, during the summer months, but during the winter, (November-May) you need to bring your own. The nearest artesian well is in Cornucopia, WI. Otherwise, you can bring water before you come. Garbage: We are a leave no trace operation. Please pack in and pack out your goods. Kids: Here's the deal-kids are welcome, with caution. The yurt is not child proof. We are open to the idea, but it may be more work for you as the parent! I know we live in the woods, but please respect our wishes.. No firearms. No fireworks. No hunting. Camping: Is allowed. However, the number of people onsite cannot exceed 6.
We are located near lots of natural beauty.. the most beautiful beaches Lake Superior has to offer, great hiking, biking, paddling and fishing. If you are more of a city girl, we are close to great restaurants and shopping in Bayfield. Either way, the yurt is perfect balance for the person on a budget, who wants to explore a unique setting and have a bed to sleep in!
  • Great!

    Kyle2020-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this place! The yurt is totally adorable and has every amenity you could anticipate needing. Loved the wood burning stove; cozied up beside it every night. Place is located very centrally on the peninsula, a convenient distance from Bayfield and the Apostle Island Lakeshore with gorgeous hiking and skiing everywhere.

    Julia2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • If you are up for a bit of adventure staying at Ashley’s yurt is an excellent way to unwind and unplug! The cozy wood stove, amenities, and being surrounded by nothing but nature was a great way to step away from bustling city life!

    Lindsay2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was exactly as described! A rustic yurt on a farm in the middle of nowhere but only about 15-20 minute drive into town! Lots of space and very cozy! A whole new experience to being in the north woods!

    Chris2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The yurt is so cute and cozy. A great rustic winter get away and base for all of our ski adventures.

    Samuel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely, wintry time at the yurt! It took us a while to really get it warm, but once we did, it was very toasty! The snowy landscape was beautiful and we enjoyed exploring Bayfield too. We would love to come back in the summer sometime too!

    Sonja2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • What a cozy space in a beautiful place! We were just here for one night in the winter, but we wished we could have stayed much longer. The lack of cell service is a real selling point, as it turns out. I sometimes have a hard time unplugging from the world, but out here, I was able to forget about my email inbox and focus on enjoying my stay. Highly recommended!

    Andrew2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Be prepared to trek in, but the property and yurt are amazing. The wood stove keeps the yurt very warm and comfortable. Can’t wait to come back for another visit!

A beautiful 100 year old home in the town of Two Harbors. A short walk to Lake Superior's Burlington Bay on the North Shore. There are 2 bedrooms with full-size beds and 1 bedroom with a single bed. There is futon in the lower level that could sleep 2 more. Two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining room, living room, along with a bright sun room to enjoy and relax with your morning cup of coffee.
Two Harbors is the gateway to Lake Superior's North Shore. Numerous state parks , hiking and biking trails, waterfalls, and Spit Rock Light house. Walking distance to gift and coffee shops, restaurants, and to Castle Danger Brewery.
  • Clean and easy. Nice place to stay.

    Jerome2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This house was everything we were looking for! The perfect spot for for a north shore trip.

    Noah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • You will find a spacious and clean space, three bedrooms and bathroom upstairs, plenty of room on the main level to cook and eat and hang out and play games and have coffee! The lower level has a very comfortable space to watch movies and/or play darts, or have a sauna and shower! We loved our long winter weekend and would definitely book again!

    Rachel2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Timothy has set up a space that is simultaneously generous, cozy, comfortable and complete. Everything you will need in a great location. This was a long weekend for 3 adults and we had zero qualms about making ourselves at home. The beds were comfy, the sauna appreciated, and living spaces relaxing. I will be back! Super clean, well-appointed, communication spot on, easy to find.

    Steve2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice time in Two Harbors. We wanted to have a quiet get away the weekend after Christmas to unwind and relax with our adult kids. Tim’s house was so comfortable and clean! We weren’t sure if we’d have a lot to do in the middle of winter on the north shore. Our first night we went to Castle Danger brewery, just a few blocks away. We ordered pizza, played games and enjoyed live music. On Saturday we drove north to Tettegouche state park...beautiful day for a winter hike. We got back to the house just as a winter storm hit. We stayed warm, cooked dinner and played games (love the dart board)! It was the perfect house and met all of our expectations:)

Cozy cabin within walking distance ( 1 block) to public beach and boat landing. Very close to local restaurants, bar, store, bank, post office, laundry mat & library. Interior all redone less than two years ago. Sure to enjoy the cabin and the community!
And welcome to the Hartje cabin! For a small town, there is quite a bit to see and do here and in the area. This should help you find your way around. In Lake Nebagamon itself: If you go out the front door & turn left, you’ll see Bridge’s Bar. (They do have live music some nights.) Just to the right of that is Lakelife, which has souvenirs, ice cream, etc. (They are open Sat. & Sun.) From the front of Bridge’s, look left for the swimming beach & dock. At the top of the hill is a Dairy Queen (open during summer months only). Next to that is the Auditorium, then Patti’s Dockside, a bar and restaurant. A little further down is the main boat dock. Turn right from in front of Bridge’s and you’ll see the Chippewa Valley Bank & the post office on your right. Across Hwy. County B is Midland Market Place, the Cenex gas station and convenience store. Next to that is a basketball court and skate park. Up one more block on S. Lake St. and to the right is the laundromat and car wash. In the opposite direction on Hwy B is the Imogene McGrath Memorial Libray, a nice place to pick up a book or log on to a computer. (You can see the back of the library from the front of the cabin.) Next to that is St. Anthony Catholic Church. (There are other churches in town & around the area also.) Down a couple blocks on the right is the Village Inn restaurant. If it is golf you are looking for, there are a couple of courses very nearby, Norwood or Botten's Green Acres, or other in easy driving (no pun intended) distance. And that’s just in Lake Nebagamon! Less than ten miles up Hwy B going east is the town of Brule. In Brule you can dine at Twin Gables Café-Lounge, Round Up North, or the Kro Bar & Grill. You’ll also pass through the Brule River State Forest; great fishing and kayaking/canoeing on the famous Brule River. Go west on Hwy. B to P and you’ll head up to Poplar (Hwy 2), where there is a BP gas station, Ace Hardware store and grocery store. Go back out Hwy. B to Hwy. 53 and you’ll find the Roadhouse & Covered Wagon restaurants and two gas stations. Plenty places to visit within ten miles of the cabin. Want more? Keep going west on Hwy. B and you will arrive at Pattison State Park, a nice place to picnic & view the waterfalls. On Hwy. 2 past Poplar is Amnicon Falls State Park. South on Hwy. 53 will take you to Solon Springs, with a Dollar General store and Lucious Woods County park. Of course, north on Highway 53 will take you to Superior and Duluth. There is too much to see here to even begin to describe. As a taste, there are: • Tall Ship Fest • Blues Fest . Apple Fest • The Whale Back Ship • Richard Bong Memorial • Canal Park Then there is Bayfield, Madeline Island, Hayward, and Iron River in the area. There are dirt track trails and snowmobile trails. Or… in the cabin itself, enjoy local TV, Roku, games, read a book, or just snuggle! Find whatever tickles your fancy. In any case, thanks for staying at our AirB&B. We know you’ll love it and want to come back again!
The cabin is very near the downtown area. Everything you need is within easy walking distance. There is a brochure listing things to see and do in town and in the area.
  • The cabin was clean, very well stocked, and Mary - the owner - was friendly and very responsive. Upon arrival, there were snacks and drinks readily available for us to enjoy. There is a bonfire pit out back and Lake Nebagamon is only a short walk away (you can see it from the cabin). The area is quiet and truly is a great place for a relaxing getaway.
