  • Laurel and Réal are excellent hosts. They provided lots of information on local things, and made truly excellent breakfasts, including home made preserves, crèpes, pain doré, bacon and eggs, etc. On a suggestion from Laurel, we visited Rathtrevor Provincial Park and saw a very large very recently dead sea lion. You could never safely get that close to a live one. We also enjoyed the sunny downstairs sitting room for reading, internet work, and conversation. Thanks, Laurel and Réal!

  • Wonderful stay - Laurel and her husband were outstanding hosts. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and the neighborhood was very peaceful. Breakfast was amazing! They were very accommodating of my fairly late check in (11pm); I wish I could've spent another night. Highly recommend.

  • Laurel was very accommodating as we checked in the same night we booked due to the road being blocked to Tofino. Very comfortable room and great breakfast the following morning!

  • We give top marks to the hosts of Laurels cottage, where we had a fabulous stay. Laurel and Rajel were warm and welcoming hosts. Their home ideally located, in walking distance to the village and the beach. The cottage is so cozy and inviting. A comfortable bed and everything clean. We really enjoyed the full breakfast which was an added treat along with the home made blackberry preserves. Everything was top notch. We will be sure to stay again when we are back in the area.

  • Warm welcome and delicious breakfast

    Angie2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel and Real are great hosts and really made us feel welcome at their house. They can give you tips on what to do in the area or direct you to the best restaurants. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean and the breakfast delicious.

    Claudia2017-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Laurel was away during the one night of our stay, but Real was a delightful, courteous and helpful host, and a fantastically quick cook of a very nice breakfast! All rooms were very clean, including a nice guest sitting room and the dining room. Communication with Laurel was easy and helpful. Particularly with a cooked breakfast for two, this listing is a very good value for the money. Thanks for the blackberries, Real !

We thoroughly enjoy hosting people from around the world. Choose from our extensive Breakfast menu and we will do our best to treat you like royalty.
Our home is a sanctuary where you can unwind and relax at your convenience, we like to serve breakfast by the pond on warm summer mornings, or in dining room in colder months. Please let us know if you have any allergies, we can accommodate everyone! Your bedroom has a silent ceiling fan for warm summer nights, a room darkening window blind, and a funky bamboo desk! I wash ALL bedding after each guest, so do not use a top sheet as the duvet cover is always washed. We are in a quiet neighborhood so you will be comfortable sleeping with your window open. A few steps down the hall is your own private bathroom, also newly renovated. You are invited to choose from our breakfast menu, breakfast is served at 8.30 a.m. unless you request a different time. Roelof makes all organic breads, and fresh croissants. I make preserves from local fruits. Everything we serve is organic, our yogurt, milk, eggs, vedgetables - everything. Wireless WiFi is available. We have a very friendly Old English Sheepdog named Knut who is very well trained, non shedding and non allergenic. If you don't care for dogs just let us know and he will stay in our space. Roelof is fluent in Dutch and German, he is a retired European Pastry Chef and I am a passionate home cook, we prepare delicious meals daily. Check in time is after 5 p.m. and check out is before 11 a.m. but we are flexible if these times don't work for you.
Quiet, relaxing, stroll around our quiet neighborhood; within ten minutes walking in different directions you can be at the local quiet beach, on hiking trails, on a golf course, or the bike trail to Qualicum or Parksville passes the corner of our street.
  • Susan and Roelof have a beautiful home where they run a top notch bed and breakfast. The room is clean and the bed is very comfortable. Their entire home is tastefully decorated. They have all of the amenities that you could expect from a high quality bed and breakfast. Furthermore, they went out of their way to accommodate our request for a small electric cooler in which we were able to store some of our leftover food. Checking in and out was easy and they made us feel right at home immediately. They made pleasant and interesting conversation with us but they also very thoughtfully gave us our privacy when we wanted it. Their dog, Knut, is very sweet. He was willing to be petted as much as we wanted (a lot) but he never bothered us a bit. Susan and Roelof are both passionate and knowledgeable about good food. The breakfasts they made us could not have been more delicious. I was also very impressed with Roelof's home made beer which he shared with me in the evenings. Susan and Roelof are well informed about all of the various things to do in and around Qualicum Beach and, of course, they know all the best restaurants. Their garden, where we spent some of our time and ate one of our meals, is gorgeous. Susan and Roelof have clearly put a lot of work into making their bed and breakfast as excellent as it is and they deserve to be very proud. I would very highly recommend it to anyone who loves good food and wishes to spend a relaxing, yet interesting time in Qualicum Beach. Thank you both for a wonderful stay!

  • Susan and Roelof are wonderful hosts, and Knut is such a friendly, gentle dog. The garden is beautiful and the food is delicious! The house is well kept and the room is cozy. Definitely an oasis my friend and I will miss.

    Winnie2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous stay at Susan's garden paradise. The home baked breakfast pastries, organic granola and yogurt and island ripe fruit plate are amazing!!! What a garden they have grown that breakfast is served in. Susan wrote to us telling us of Canada day fireworks and a music festival that we could stop at on our drive in to her from the ferry. In the morning, she guided us to the incredible Saturday market in qualicum beach. Her husband is great and their blue eyed English shepherd dog is a real sweetie. We will look forward to returning soon.

  • This was so much more than just a "stay." We left our wonderful experience with having made new friends. Our stay receives five stars in every way. And breakfast; perfectly delightful! My husband and I were both smiling and had "happy hearts" as we left the driveway (hoping to return again)

Private guest room with shared barhroom. B&B style. We are a family of 3 originally from Barcelona, so at home you would find a Mediterranean lifestyle with its flavors and chilled vibes. We like playing music, meditate, going to the beach, and enjoy a glass and a good reading by the sun on our deck. Our 4 year old likes to play hide and seek. We love cooking and Esther likes to offer breakfast to our guests. We interact with our guests as much as we all feel like, no pressure on any side ;)
The guest room is on the main floor, next to the kitchen and common areas. It has a double bed. The other two rooms are in the first floor and that's where we sleep. The house has a big living room, a sunny deck and garden that we all share.
The house is in Sandpiper area, 10 minutes walk to Sandpiper beach and 40 minutes walk to the restaurants area and supermarket (Co-Op)

Spacious house, tranquil peaceful setting. Short walk to Englishman River National Park and Englishman River Falls, with tons of hikes and spectacular scenery, falls, and crystal clean swimming holes. Fantastic beaches at Parksville, see Goats on the Roof in Coombs. You can experience farm animals in person at Tiger Lily Farm. I welcome everyone from all backgrounds. 我會說普通話/我会说普通话.歡迎來到加拿大/欢迎来到加拿大
My home is really unique because it's in the middle of a forest, only 2 km from Englishman River Falls, and the Englishman River provincial park. It's very peaceful here and you will surely get a great night's rest.
I live near Englishman River provincial park, where there are tons of hiking and biking trails, all within a short bike ride's distance or a 2 km walk. Down the road there's Tiger Lily farm, http://www.tigerlilyfarm.ca/, where you can pet goats and ride horses, and the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre, where you can see animals being rehabilitated, including bears, eagles, owls and rabbits. https://www.niwra.org/ There are farms in the surrounding area, and no matter where you go, either driving, cycling or walking, you are amid beautiful natural scenery at every turn.
  • Kerry is very accommodating, very comfortable bed and area with separate bathroom and full use of kitchen and area. Loved the outdoor area for relaxing. A very quiet lovely area to stay!

    Karen2018-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Kerry's place is a hidden gem. If you are looking for a quiet setting, close to mountain biking and walking trails, with a fabulous host yet not too far from a full service urban setting then you really need to check this home out. We would definitely come back to Kerry's place!

    Chris2018-09-13T00:00:00Z

  • Kerry's home is extremely comfortable and beautiful, and is only a 15 minute drive into Parksville. The bed is extremely comfy and we slept like babies every night! She went out of her way to make us feel welcome, including providing us with visitors guides and had lots of great tips on the area! She even baked us some yummy carrot muffins. I would strongly recommend her place to anyone who is visiting the area and would like a fantastic place to stay.

    Jenn2018-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • I CAN HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. KERRY IS GREAT LOVELY WARM HOST. Beautiful and quiet place surrounded by just pure nature. You won't to leave it! Kerry was very helpful, gave us a lot tips where to go and what to see. Many thanks!!!

    Jean2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • At Kerry's place you can expect to be greeted with a smile and a great relaxing place to stay. Wonderful linens, old fashioned bath tub! A great place to sit on the deck and listen to the " silence" and look at the stars. It's so quiet and peaceful. Kerry is super chill and so easy to talk to . We loved our stay and wished we would have stayed longer . It was the last night of our vacation and it wasn't long enough!

  • WOW!!!!!! This was my husbands and my very first stay at a B&B and our standards are now set high. Beautiful views, trails and wild life. I was lucky enough to be able to get some snaps of the eagles and sea lions on the private ocean area. Breath taking area.

  • If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway, this is the place to stay! We were there for the weekend with our pup, and nobody wanted to leave. Rick and Shannon were very accommodating hosts, and we were free to use their backyard space as desired. It was such a treat to stay with them!

    Tracy2016-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Rick and Shannon were great from the time we rolled into the driveway until when we pulled out. The downstairs space was all to ourselves as the other room was not booked. We spent one night outside and had a campfire and came inside to a wood burning stove. Great clean space, amazing view, a short drive to town and a tasty breakfast. Highly recommended.

    Steve2017-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • From the moment of entering the property the serenity and peacefulness of the gardens and landscape set you at ease. The passion of the owners generates and very welcoming ambiance. The breakfast and common area is pristine and the breakfast fitting with the natural surrounding of the location. The bedrooms or suites are beautiful and comfortable with that country holiness to them. The passion and congeniality of Shannon and Rick make me proud to say I am also from Canada. They can never offer enough to make your stay more enjoyable whether it is the history of the place, ideas for dining and hiking or just being sociable it is all good. The terms of this visit were such that the serenity and peacefulness offered a great escape to reminisce, next time on my return with my better half Ina I hope to expand the time and partake in all the adventures and hikes that Shannon and Rick mentioned. I highly recommend this sanctuary for any type of vacation or stay be it short or long. Bring a smile and truly enjoy;-))

    Jerry D2016-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We could wright a lot of positive things about that lovely place and our nice hosts Rick and Shannon, but the one most important thing: we felt at home. And this wonderful spacious garden place were we could do our barbecue and relax while watching the Pacific sunset. Perfect!

    Oliver2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • I am so glad I decided to visit Driftwood Island Retreat, in Qualicum. The expansive yard has an amazing view with beautiful landscaping. You could spend all your time on the property just relaxing or, since the location is very accessible to nearby beaches (including one attainable from the back yard), restaurants, and attractions, you could go out and enjoy what the Island has to offer and return home to this oasis. Perhaps have a BBQ dinner or just sit back and enjoy the stars, which are incredible, in Qualicum. Shannon and Rick were very gracious hosts and kind souls, who provided me with all sorts of helpful suggestions on where to go and what to do. There was always plenty of food for the continental breakfast, and Shannon was so generous as to bring something fresh down, every morning, such as eggs, seasonal fruit and baked goods. Thank you Shannon and Rick for the lovely experience. I hope to visit, again.

  • You could not pick a more lovely location, beautiful and comfortable place to spend time, and delightful, friendly and helpful hosts. The amenities, two places to grill and sit and have dinner, bald eagles flying and calling, seals below in the Strait - sheer magic.

  • We loved our stay here and it was the perfect location, clean, very quiet and peaceful! We saw deer every morning and the bed was very comfy! Breakfast was thoughtfullly laid out each morning and there is a small fridge and microwave as well. Phil was wonderful and I would definitely stay here if I come to Hornby Island again in the future!

    Iris2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Located not far from the ferry terminal you will find Phil and Louise's beautiful home. It is quiet and very clean and we loved how much room we had, a spacious bedroom and a wonderful , bright bathroom, as well as a cozy sitting area. The breakfast was lovingly prepared for us every morning with freshly picked fruit and other delicious treats. It is a wonderful place in a woodsy, quiet setting and we enjoyed every minute of our stay.

  • Everything was fabulous for our family vacation. Great hosts. Beautiful place. Nice and clean. Great to have a deck for hangin out. Close to the bakery and Phipp's Point for sunsets. Couldn't have asked for more. Phil and Louise are a dream team.

    Tara2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Nice, clean place. Friendly hosts. There is an adjacent room they host which has thin walls. It was no issue for me but if there had been a noisy couple or kids it would frustrate me. There are no locks on room doors if you’re untrusting. If you want a cozy place to sleep/bathe has a nice tub and cozy bed.

    Kyle2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely home, and family, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Phil is an outstanding photographer and has decorated the space with beautiful photos, all from the Island. I recommend it highly.

    Douglas2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The property was great and Phil is an excellent host, Hornby is small enough that no matter where you stay you are close to everything and Phil was happy to share his local knowledge. His photos of the island also inspired us to seek out a couple of off the beaten track spots.

Qualicum Beach (pop. approx. 10,000) is a quiet little town located on Vancouver Island British Columbia, Canada. . It is situated at the foot of Mount Arrowsmith, along the Strait of Georgia on Vancouver Island's northeastern coast. It is gloriously free of big box stores and the typical fast food restaurants but for a small town the amenities are comprehensive. The town clock chimes the hour. Deer stroll through residential gardens and raccoons wander about at night. People come here for the beaches, the forests, and the friendly small town appeal.

Relax and enjoy the gorgeous views of Nanoose Bay in your own private sitting room while eating breakfast which is included in rate, a choice of organic cereals, homemade muffins, or scones, artisan breads, or croissants, hard boiled eggs, or mini omelettes, Greek yogurt and fruit parfaits or fruit salad, a French press pot of freshly ground Saltspring Island coffee, assorted teas, and juice, all served for your convenience in the sitting room. Amenities include toaster, coffee maker, dishes, utensils, kettle, microwave, small fridge, table and chairs, 40" HD wall mounted flat screen TV, DVD player, gas fire place, and enjoy the comfort of radiant floor heat throughout the B&B. There is not a cooking facility, as it is a bed and breakfast, but there is a small grill outside for guests use. Enjoy a stroll along the beach which becomes an extensive area, as the tide recedes, or maybe enjoy a paddle in the clear and calm waters of the Bay with complimentary use of 4 adult, and 2 kid sized kayaks, view many sea birds, as well as Eagles, Blue Herron who live in the vicinity of the Manor. Centrally located to Oceanside communities of Nanaimo, Parksville, Coombs, Qualicum Beach, and a convenient stop over from Tofino and Ucluelet. There are many attractions within 30 minutes of B&B to visit during the day. Fairwinds Golf course, Schooner Cove Marina, Rathtrevor Beach, hiking trails at Englishman River Falls, and other Provincial, and Regional Parks. Local supermarket, liquor store, bank, P.O. Coffee shop, and Pharmacy at the Red Gap shopping area, a few minutes away. B&B comfortably accommodates 4 people, but I do have an air bed or rollaway cot if an extra bed is needed. B&B is more suitable for adults. Beautiful outdoor venue, for a wedding or event.
It is a quiet, and peaceful country residential area, on small acreages.
  • Elaine's place is nicely decorated and full of details we appreciated. the view from the living room part of the b&b is right on the water. also the place is very clean, comfortable and inviting. Elaine gave us recommendations for restaurants which were totally to our taste and we enjoyed very much.

  • We loved our stay at Elaine's place. Could have easy stayed longer. Highly recommend it.

  • What a fantastic location! A lovely bnb - great value for money-big, clean bedrooms and bathroom, and a delicious breakfast. Elaine was great-she even made our baby Heidi a mini breakfast of yoghurt and strawberries! Which she loved! Elaine lives in the suite next door, but our section was still very private. We also paddled out onto the lake in her kayaks. We wished we could have stayed longer!

  • High Recommendation. :) Country Bay Manor Bed and Breakfast is an amazing place. Surprisingly not far off the highway yet rural, beautiful, quiet and private. Elaine is a lovely host, and the breakfast was delicious, fresh and prepared with care and attention to detail. The place is tastefully appointed, very clean, beautifully laid out with a stunning location. An architectural gem. The two bedrooms are bright yet warm and comfortable. The light in the sitting room was beautiful on a late rainy afternoon, I'm sure it must be a stunning view of Nanoose Bay in the sunshine. Elaine's place easily compares with some of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.

  • My mother and I absolutely enjoyed this serene and peaceful bnb! Elaine was great at communicating with us and answering any questions! Her garden is gorgeous and the views of the bay are spectacular any time of the day! Breakfast was lovely with fresh French press coffee and toast and muffins juice and a great healthy cereal selection. My parents will be coming back here soon!

    Ann2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place is absolutely amazing. We had a private section of the house to stay which include a ocean view living room and two bedrooms. In the morning we walked to the beach when tide was low. Ocean was just off the backyard. Also fruit, juices and yogurt were served as breakfast. We have just stayed for one night and heading off to Tofino the next day. I really wish to stay here longer and definitely will when next time I visit Vancouver Island.

    David2015-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • This place has the most amazing location right on the water. We enjoyed the serene times sitting on our private patio reading and just relaxing with a wonderful breeze blowing off the bay. Elaine provides the most amazing breakfast every morning. On the last morning we had to leave by 6 am. She got up early and cooked us the best breakfast of the days we were there. Such high quality finishes in the house, extremely clean and views are worth millions. We saw a bald eagle sitting not too far away and soaring through the air. Simply amazing yet so close to many things to see and do.

    Bryan2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine was kind enough to recommend me some restaurants near her home before our trip and greeted us and took us for an orientation upon our arrival. She also prepared a beautiful breakfast. she is a wonderful hostess.

  • Very cozy and comfortable place to stay. Rooms are very nice and clean. Hosts are very welcoming and friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the island. Breakfast outside on the patio was wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

  • Lovely spot! Feels private and remote but is only minutes away from shops, beaches and restaurants. Clean, appealing decor with comfy bed and linens. Unforgettable sights and moments thanks to the location suggestions shared by our hosts.

    Wyll2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience! Linda and her husband were so friendly and accommodating!! They know the island really well and suggested some trails and a restaurant for dinner. The trails and coves and views on the island are amazing and well worth the ferry rides! The Sea Breeze restaurant is worth it, I promise! The space is very clean and modern. The bed and linens were fresh and clean. Very lovely. Linda had emailed me days prior to my stay asking about breakfast preferences, food allergies, etc which was extremely thoughtful. The breakfast was delicious! The house dogs and a cat were a joy and so friendly and cute! Felt like visiting friends, would happily repeat!

The room itself is bright & clean, with a comfy bed. Linda & Gary are perfect hosts- and great people! We are thankful for our conversations, and music shared! Their home is very central, and easy to get around Hornby to explore the island from.

  • Bill and Libbie were very welcoming hosts. They were very helpful with medical contacts as one of us was ill. Great continental breakfast. Clean, comfortable, and private accommodations.

  • Perfect hosts!!

    Manuel2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had an amazing time, and I believe Libbie and Bill are the best hosts that any traveler can ask for. I visited Port Alberni for work and I was busy most of the time, but I received a tremendous amount of attention and kindness, while having my own privacy as well. Thank you so much, and should I ever have to go back, you will be my first choice!

    Krisztián2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic experience staying with zLibbie and Bill. Very welcoming hosts, great breakfasts, and lovely cool rooms during a +35 heat wave. Highly recommend!

    Judith2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Libbie & Bill are the most welcoming, friendly people you will ever meet. Hopefully you get to try their home-pressed grape juice in the morning. Thanks again!

    Stefan2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Top of the Hill was excellent. On arrival Libbie was there to welcome us. The rooms may look somewhat dated, but satisfy all desires. The rooms are spotless, which is a big plus. Because of our day trip to Tofino we wanted to have breakfast early, this was no problem at all. The breakfast itself was very good including bread, cereals and fresh fruit. We would recommend Top of the Hill to everyone!

    Maurice2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The least I can say Bill and Libbie were great hosts. Very welcoming and easygoing people, really felt like meeting friends. I would not hesitate staying there again.

    Johanne2016-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Libbie and Bill were the most charming hosts ever! We felt like we were staying with family (without the drama) from the first minute that we arrived. They are an outgoing, intelligent and genuinely warm couple with amazing stories to share. By the time we left we felt like we had known them for years. The room was bright, cozy and quiet with large windows overlooking the gorgeous garden. We slept like babies both nights. Also included was a private bath and den with a flat screen TV. Everything was perfectly clean and well maintained. The house is located a 3 minute walk from amazing forest trails and is very close to all services including the charming waterfront downtown which is at most a 10 minute drive. Honestly, it was a perfect stay. We may return to Port Alberni just to visit see Bill and Libbie again! Jerry & Carol

Welcome to our wonderful, airy, light-filled private guest room, nestled between a quiet country road, our kitchen garden, and stairs to the meadow, pond and beach below. Well-situated at the south end of the island, 10 minutes drive from the ferry.
Maresia, which is a Portuguese word meaning "scent of the ocean", is a stunning property overlooking Baynes Sound and the Beaufort mountains, a very popular destination in the Denman Island Home and Garden Tour held every second year in mid June, with 2 acres of cultivated woodland, ornamental gardens, vegetable and herb gardens, orchard, ponds, and meadow.
  • Amazing accommodation. The property itself is a a magical place that we look forward to seeing in the summer as we could see its potential through the layer of snow! The hosts were very kind, filled with fabulous conversation, and their home showcased their amazing talent and appreciation for art. The space for guests was very comfortable with fine touches of fresh flowers and home baked treats. Highly recommend the dinner option, their home cooked meals were exquisite- from the home baked bread, to the homemade jam, to delicious (homegrown) kale salad- the list is too long to list all the deliciousness. Everything was delightful.

  • A most incredible experience! Michael & Selinda took care of every detail to make sure our stay was perfect. Their home & property is like something out of a magazine. The guest suite was equipped with everything (& more) to make our stay comfortable including homemade cookies & apple chips. The suite itself is very inviting - vaulted, open beam ceiling, well furnished, eclectic art, library of interesting books, modern bathroom with heated tile floors & rain shower. There were stunning views of the ocean and beautiful natural landscapes from every window. We had a tour of the expansive gardens with breathtaking views and met the hens who provided us with breakfast, the roosters who announced the morning & stroked bunnies who sometimes became dinner. Michael & Selinda cooked gourmet meals with food provided from their garden and treated us like family. They are very knowledgeable about the island we enjoyed their suggestions on what to experience. We are already planning trip back there.

    Wendy2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Selinda were amazing hosts. Great communication, awesome accommodation and the gardens were unreal. We felt totally at home. Their dogs were a wonderful addition to a wonderful three days.

  • If you are looking for a romantic getaway in a cozy and beautiful place, and listen to birds sing, then this is the place for you! The owners of this house are kind and warm; you will feel as if you are at home spending time with old friends. Thank you for the wonderful atmosphere, delicious and homemade breakfasts, and great conversation. Such a place makes you want to come back time and time again!

    Vladimir2016-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay and still convenient to seeing Denman and Hornby. Don't miss some of Michael's wonderful cooking and the great company on offer.

    Beate2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Michael and Selinda are both very good cooks, and the majority of the ingredients are sourced from their own luscious garden and farm at the back of the property. They are very keen on sharing their home recipes and culture, giving us a unique experience of living. The lovely couple spent a lot of time and effort maintaining their 14 year home, making the beautiful house a wonderful retreat to stay at. The room was spacious and bright with a super comfy bed, and the kitchenette had all the essentials. The bathroom is a bit small with a standup shower, so be prepared, but the optional heater in the bathroom made it very cozy. All in all, our experience was lovely and we would definitely stay with them again!

    Adrien2017-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • It is a very lovely suite with a comfy bed, and a loft with another single bed. The breakfast each morning was fabulous, and Michael and his wife are gracious, interesting hosts. The gardens are beautiful, but there really isn't a private patio for guests to sit on.

  • A Proper B&B! Sun and Sea B&B by Petra and Gary is the most amazing place my fiancee and I have ever stayed at. The rooms are large, very well appointed, new, and immaculate. Owners make very delicious breakfast in the morning and take great care of you. Definitely a place for you to have a short getaway and enjoy the nature.

  • This was our third stay. This is an amazing place anybody in the area should try out. Take a trail ride while you're there, it's worth it :)

  • Beautiful!

    Justine2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly, take the chance to go on a trail ride with the horses! The hosts ranch is amazing and they clearly do a great job of taking good care of their horses. The room (mountain) was huge, with a beautiful view, great ensuite and a lovely private balcony. The ranch is easy to find and the hosts are great at communicating. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer! Wherever you are from, staying here will be a great getaway :)

    Rhiannon2017-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts communicated via text and email right up to the day we checked in and even once we had settled in to sort out a time for breakfast the next morning. The view of the snow capped Moriatry and Arrowsmith Mtns in the morning were breath taking. The bed was super comfy with pillows and bedding that literally enveloped your body. The breakfast was top notch delicious.

    Tanya2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Neat place. Super comfy bed and nice linens. We were only there for a quick overnight unfortunately.

    Kathy2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Paradise Acres was perfect. We were sent texts to make sure we found our way there and we were met upon arrival. The location was close to Parksville and the 5km Foam Fest we were participating in, but felt secluded, quiet and relaxing while there. The king bed room was spacious, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom was gorgeous. We were lucky to be the only people staying there and had the pool table, fooseball table and living room area to ourselves. We spent a few hours sitting on their massive patio soaking up the sunbeams while gazing out at the horses, meadow and mountains. So relaxing! There was a hot tub and in room sauna, but we never had time to use either. The next morning we were treated to chef's fruit smoothies, latte, juice, and pumpkin and Chinese 5 spice pancakes. A culinary delight! The only slight downsides of the suite was that sound does carry from the main house to the B&B bedroom area - not that our hosts were noisy, but you could tell when they were up in the morning. Secondly, there are no blinds on the bedroom window,s so if you are a light sleeper you are going to be awake when the sun comes up. Overall, we felt like our stay was way too short. I really want to return to enjoy the view again, a trail ride, and the nearby river and mountain biking. Thank you for our stay...I'm hoping to return sooner rather than later!!!! :)

  • Phil’s place exceeded my expectations. It was clean and well kept, great quiet location, bedroom overlooked a private backyard. Cereal+fruit+coffee breakfast was provided, which was a pleasant surprise. Phil was quick to respond and provided us with plenty of local tips.

  • Great location. Great hospitality. Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. We were so very happy with our family vacation. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend and friendlier hosts!

  • Host was friendly and helpful with suggestions of things to do on the island. The place was very quiet and clean.

  • Welcome host, discreet, accommodating and friendly. We had a excellent and perfect place to stay during our 2 day stay on Hornby Island. Would recommend this place to others looking for such accommodation. Thanks very much.

  • Clean, friendly, quiet, cosy accommodation with helpful hosts and yummy granola! Walking distance to excellent pizza and blackberries.

  • From our first contact to when we said goodbye, we felt welcome here. Phil was quick to respond to our questions and we felt very much “at home”. We arrived on September 3rd, when all the other tourists were leaving the island, so almost everything was closed - including all the restaurants. Phil knew it was our 30th wedding anniversary so he set the table with a linen tablecloth and napkins, and set out wine glasses, plates and cutlery for us, so our frozen dinner was eaten in style. The bed is a bit on the soft side (we’re used to a firm mattress) but it was very comfortable. Great rain shower and a generous supply of towels. A private deck, a communal area for reading or playing games, and a self serve continental breakfast to start each day. Coffee and tea available all day along with fresh fruit from the abundant trees on the property. Phil and his wife are lovely people who we could have chatted with for hours! Staying at Cedar Lane was a great choice for us and we are leaving with great memories.

  • The property is lovely - lots of beautiful animals to make your stay that much more wonderful! The breakfasts provided by our hosts, Bev & Gerd, were delicious! We brought our young dog on the visit with us and they were very accommodating. The common area and our room were beautiful and spacious. I throughly enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back!! Thank you!

    Bethany2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • My 12-year-old son and I had a wonderful time here. We wanted the chance to do a horseback trail ride, do some hiking along the river, and spend some time just relaxing as well. We did all that. Breakfasts were WELL above expectations, and my expectations are fairly high to start with. We had pumpkin pancakes with coconut-fried bananas one day, beautiful grilled vegetables with poached eggs in a curry sauce another, and Swiss-style rosti with eggs and bacon. All were perfectly cooked and presented, worthy of an impressive restaurant. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, and spotlessly clean. We had use of the guest common area so we could heat things up for an easy dinner, and sprawl on the couch to watch Netflix (we never watched the satellite TV provided). The only (very minor) downside was that there were no curtains on the windows, which wasn't a problem at all for privacy, given the way the room was situated, but meant that the very early June sunrise woke me up! But the many positive things about Paradise Acres far outweighed that. We hope to visit again with the rest of the family!

  • Property is beautiful. Horses, deer, bunnies, cats, and a super friendly dog to keep you company. The shared space is quite large with everything you could need including a pool table. Breakfast was cooked by our host and was absolutely amazing, he is a professional chef and and you could tell he really takes pride and enjoys preparing it. We really enjoyed our stay.

  • My partner and I had a lovely time at the ranch! It was an absolutely beautiful property with great views. We enjoyed hearing the horses and waking up to delicious breakfasts! Thank you very much again!

  • Our stay at Barb's, Jack's and the sweet doggies place has been amazing. If you look up Wikipedia for outstanding hosts, there should be a picture of Barb! We really enjoyed being there and would definitely recommend this B&B!

  • Ele's Escape is just that - a lovely retreat with exceptional hospitality that is 5 star! Barb is very accommodating and is so thoughtful. We loved our time there and highly recommend this comfortable getaway. They were very welcoming to our small dog, too! A real plus that's hard to find.

  • Staying with Barb and Jack has been an exceptional experience. From being welcomed with food and drinks, amazing breakfast in the mornings, printed itineries and driving instructions to receiving little chocolates on our bed every night, everything has been perfect. Barb and Jack know the area and island very well and have shared great recommendations with us. We can highly recommend staying as long as possible!

  • Eles Escape is a totally wonderful place to stay.  We spent 7 days and 6 nights there and enjoyed every moment.  The accommodation is superb, Barbara and Jack are excellent hosts,  and the location is perfect.  It is situated in a very quiet and peaceful area and at the same time is within easy reach of many points of interest in the centre and South of beautiful Vancouver Island.  And those breakfasts - well, they may be death to the figure, but they really are 5*. They have to be experienced to be believed. In our many years of travel all over the world. Eles Escape is right up at the top of our list of preferred places to stay. Many thanks to our wonderful hosts and their lovely dog Ele. Anna and Niels Reinbergen

  • We highly recommend this Nanaimo area B&B. The location was convenient and easy to find. The breakfasts were amazing. The room restful, and the WiFi was convenient. The hosts offered very helpful advice. Our visit to the Nanaimo area was enhanced by these hosts and their very considerate hospitality.

  • We had a wonderful stay in the care of Barbara and Ele! This is really the meticulous housekeeping and service of a hotel combined with the warmth and chattiness of a B&B. The perfect mix! The scrumptious and varied breakfasts kept us going well into the afternoon and Barb provided us with all the tips and directions to the nicest places to see and things to do in the area. - Try sea kayaking when you're there. It's the best! - We loved staying with you and getting to know you. Thanks so much for the perfect final flourish to our honeymoon trip! All the best, Max and Hannah

  • This was our first experience at a true bed and breakfast and it was amazing! Great location, lovely home and fantastic breakfast!

    Keith2016-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Barb was such a generous host, providing us with tasty treats upon arrival and being so helpful on advice for the area. The accommodations were fabulous and comfortable. You really can't beat heated floors on your bare feet in the morning! The food was beyond amazing and we rarely at more than dinner while here as breakfast filled us until dinner! Barb recommended many great things to see and do and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there! We sea kayaked on the ocean, went the most amazing Sushi Bar in Nanaimo (Ryu Sushi), we also stopped at a close by beach to collect sand dollars which there were plenty of, and she had recommended a TeaFarm near Duncan and we totally loved it! Really a great B & B! Highly Recommend!

  • We had a really great stay at Diana's. The house is absolutely beautiful. She has designated the only two rooms on the top floor as the guest suites, so you really feel like you have your own private space. The rooms are huge, (and can easily fit a family of 4 if needed), with very comfortable beds. The house was immaculately clean, and very welcoming. The best part? The breakfast!! What a way to start your day. Fresh eggs, bacon, croissants, homemade muffins, toast, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, granola, yogurt. It was a feast fit for kings and queens. We were so spoiled. We talked about Diana's muffins the whole way back to Vancouver :) We truly felt like we made new friends, and next time we return to Galiano we know exactly where we'll be staying again. Highly recommend.

  • Great place! We decided to stay a second night... see my previous review!

    Anne-Marie2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our two night at Diana and David's house! It's a pretty house with lovely flower gardens and a fragrant bouquet on our breakfast table. Hornby Island is not very large and I would say every location there is a good location (you don't have to drive or bike far to get anywhere) so location isn't an issue for anything on the island. We appreciated the cleanliness and loved your wraparound porch -- lovely breakfast too! thank you!

Tastefully decorated with private bath, cooking supplies, bar fridge and outside “camp kitchen” with BBQ. • Fantastic trip! Betty and Doug were very friendly hosts and went above and beyond. We will be back again for sure! Beautiful above ground suite with a walkway to the water. Very private. Includes an outdoor kitchenette and all the little things you'll need.

  • Amazing place! Nicely furnished and perfectly clean. Incredible views of the ocean. Betty and Doug were wonderful hosts, very friendly, picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry. We had a great time kayaking and biking around the island. This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet off the grid getaway on Lasqueti Island! We are planning to return!

  • Amazing location and fantastic hosts! We loved the blackout curtains and the outdoor kitchen. Thanks for the toys for our 2 year old to play with!

    Natty2017-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Betty and Doug were thoughtful and generous hosts. From picking us up at the ferry to driving us to the Saturday morning market to offering us fresh herbs from the garden. They welcomed us with a wealth of information, tips, and history about the island and its residents. The room was bright, spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. Overlooking the water it made for a beautiful view to wake up to! There were multiple outdoor seating areas overlooking the water where we were able to enjoy our morning coffee and dinners. The outdoor camp kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We loved being able to take the kayak down to the sandy, secluded beaches nearby. We would recommend Lasqueti island & Moonshell Bay to anyone looking for a relaxing and eclectic getaway with opportunities for adventures.
