Places to stay in Rockley
When you drive through the gates of 'Tara' you immediately relax taking in the beautiful garden and country side. 'The Cottage' is self contained with a country feel outside and a contemporary design indoors. The historical village of Rockley was established in 1850 and delightful to explore just 5 mins down the road offering a cafe and heritage pub for refreshments.
The cottage was one of the original fixtures when we took over the property in 1993. For many years is was used as a mechanics workshop, hence the original Ampol fuel bowser. It then became the gardening shed until 2017 when we converted it into a self contained unit. A large side patio and one at the front of the cottage gives extra comfort in the warmer months. We also offer undercover parking next to the cottage. Kitchenette available with microwave, crockery cultery, condiments, tea & coffee. Homemade cake tea/coffee complimentary on arrival.
'Tara' Cottage is ideally located 5 minutes drive from the village of Rockley. The National Trust listed Village, has not changed much with time, full of stone houses steeped in history from the discovery of gold in the 1840's. The natural and historic beauty of Rockley offers many attractions from the Heritage Pub and cafe to tennis courts and Stevens Park for recreation.
  • You can expect exceptionally nice and warm-hearted hosts. Janelle & Peter are very kind and lovely people. Their hospitality is outstanding. Initally we planned to stay one night, but ended up extending our stay every morning we woke up. We really enjoyed our long weekend in the cottage and on the farm. Such a peacful place. We look forward to returning soon!

  • Tara is a lovely place to stay with all the touches to make it a tranquil retreat. The cottage, it’s cleanliness, the verandah and the gardens are all very special.

  • Immaculate place to rest Janelle & Peter too many generous and friendly I have to go back

    Andres2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Janelle's cottage is absolutely beautiful...very stylish and very well appointed with touches of luxury throughout and so, so comfortable. It is surrounded by stunning gardens. We were met and welcomed by Janelle and her husband Peter and immediately made to feel at home. The delicious home made cake for afternoon tea was a lovely surprise. They asked several times if there was anything we needed or wanted. We were going to the Elton John Farewell Concert, as were Janelle and Peter, who very kindly drove us into Bathurst and back home again. We were so, so appreciative. We look forward to staying again and to meeting these very lovely and helpful people again. Thanks Janelle xx

Winburndale is an award winning vineyard overlooking the Bathurst Valley. Kangaroo and Goanna cottages each have two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large kitchen, dining and lounge overlooking the vineyard. There is a pool and tennis court. The town of Bathurst is just 15 minutes away. There you will find plenty of shops and restaurants. You can drive around the famous race track. A stay at Winburndale can include a private wine tasting and vineyard tour. Kangaroos run freely in the vineyard.
Winburndale is situated on the slopes of Mount Fontana, overlooking Bathurst. Here, Carlo Guiseppe Fontana discovered gold in 1862. In 1998 Helen and Michael Burleigh bought the property and planted vines. The first vintage was in 2002. Since then the wines have won numerous trophies and medals.
  • Great spot to stay on an old historic vineyard called Winburndale. The dirt road off the main highway takes you past some scenic farms with local wildlife and bush land and leads towards the main property. The main cottages have great views overlooking Bathurst city towards Mt Panorama. The infinity pool was a great feature with great views over the vineyard. Complimentary local bottle of wine was a kind gesture. Great communication from Henry throughout the stay. Would highly recommend for a nice weekend away in Bathurst. Cheers.

  • Sparkling clean cabins with gorgeous views of the surrounding valley and bush land, perfect for a quiet getaway or road-trip stop over!

  • I cannot express how amazing this stay is, my partner and I were lost for words. The views from the cottage were beyond compare, and the hospitality we had was above and beyond. Truly an amazing trip every moment. Michael truly knows how to look after his guests and taught us a lot about the area. 6/5 stars 🌟

    Isaac2019-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • My otherhalf stayed in one of Michael's cottages for two weeks whilst at an extended and demanding job nearby and thoroughly enjoyed his stay. It was like it was meant to be. Clean and well appointed, amazing location and views at the winery, lovely hospitality, and major bonus points for access to beautiful boutique wines hand crafted by Michael himself and the on site tour of old mines on the property. My otherhalf highly recommends this stay and would return again.

Your home will be a fully self-contained cottage next to the main homestead at Triangle Flat Farm. Built in the 1830's, the cottage is surrounded by gardens and farmland. Enjoy magnificent views and getting back to nature. Triangle Flat is a working sheep and cattle farm 40 minutes drive from Bathurst and 15 minutes from historic Rockley village. We will be on the farm during your stay and can show you around the property if you are keen to explore, or leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Over the years the cottage has served as a series of farm outbuildings, including a meat room, workshop and garage. The cottage was renovated over the past 10 years, and is now fully self contained including a kitchen, bathroom and large living space with wood burning stove. You might notice some of the leftover quirks from the cottage's previous uses. Kitchen The kitchen has basic appliances, including a fridge, microwave and double burner electric cook-top but no oven. There is also a gas BBQ available for use. As we are 40 minutes drive from the closest supermarket in Bathurst we recommend stocking up on supplies before you arrive. Breakfast is included and we can provide other meals with advance notice. The Rockley Pub does decent pub meals for lunch and dinner and is a 15 minute drive from the Farm. Living Room The living room includes comfy leather couches, a dining area and wood burning stove. There are books and games available for use during your stay. Master Bedroom The bedroom includes a queen bed. A heater and electric blankets will keep you toasty in the colder months. Second Bedroom and Loft Room The second bedroom includes a queen bed and couch that would be a suitable extra bed for a child. Upstairs from the bedroom is a loft with two single beds. Please note the steps are steep and this room is best suited to slightly older children and above. There is no door separating the loft from the downstairs room. Access to these rooms is via a separate entrance on the front veranda. To access the bathroom, kitchen and lounge you will need to enter the main entrance of the cottage which is just next to this room. Internet Please note that there is currently no internet at the farm. There is reasonable mobile phone signal on the farm, although it can be patchy in parts of the cottage. Outdoor space The cottage has a front veranda where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful cottage garden. The adjacent main house also has wrap around verandas which offer great views and bird watching which you are welcome to use. The cottage is set on 620 acres of working farm land. We are happy to facilitate explorations of the farm including our own bushland area during your stay. Guests should be mindful that we are a working farm set in the bush. You may encounter animals during your stay including native wildlife such a kangaroos and wombats, as well as the sheep and cattle. We also have the occasional snake visitors in the garden during the summer months. See more photos or follow us on Instagram and facebook: www.instagram.com/triangleflatfarm www.instagram.com/yeehacreations https://www.facebook.com/triangleflatfarmstay/
Time at the farm offers the perfect opportunity to escape from it all, and enjoy uninterrupted peace and quiet. We have good mushrooming in the Autumn, bush walks and bird watching. For the more adventurous, there are a range of attractions in the area. Rockley Village (15 minutes) is a heritage village built in the 1850's and is worth a stroll. The pub has a cafe and restaurant. Bathurst (40 minutes) has lots on offer, including restaurants, a popular Fossil Museum, monthly farmers market, local art galleries and Mount Panorama. Mayfield Gardens (1 hour) and Jenolan Caves (1hr20) are also within reach.
  • Sophie and Brad provide their guests with a great space to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet of a lovely rural setting. It made an ideal base to explore the region.

    Anthony2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • A nice little Farm stay about 49 minutes from Oberon, Brad and Sophie are welcoming but not intrusive. Very clean and comfortable place to get away from it all. A+

    Rod2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • From the very first contact to the goodbye, we loved our stay here. What a beautiful and fun place to be with amazing hosts. If you want to stay somewhere where you are certain to have a wonderful time then look no further than Brad and Sophie's place. Don't waste time, just book it and go, you will not regret it. Thank you to Brad and Sophie for opening up your beautiful cottage that allowed for an amazing time. All the best, Michael.

    Michael2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Without a doubt the best place I have ever stayed. Very clean and tidy. Great hospitality and most things were supplied and organised. Can't wait to return back. And the views were spectacular

    Haydon2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Brad and Sophie's place was amazing. The cottage has been beautifully renovated, retaining many of the features of the original building. On the 2nd day of our stay, Brad drive us around the farm which was really lovely as we saw many farm and wild animals as well as the vast farming land. We were originally booked to stay at Jenolan Caves, however Jenolan Caves was closed due to the weather, so our adventure took us on a very different path of which we were all very greatful. Meals can also be ordered with Brad and Sophie. They cooked a beautiful Japanese curry which was well worth paying for!! Thanks guys, it was such a pleasure to have come across your property!

    Marian2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • I had a really awesome stay with my friends. Cottage has been really well fitted out and the amenities are amazing. The hosts took us on a tour of the farm which everyone really enjoyed. I will definitely be booking in to stay longer next time.

    Gianmarc2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Brad and Sophie's. The directions were spot on and they were very friendly and welcoming. They told us about an Australia Day village fair in Carcoar which we went to - it was great ! There are also some nice historic villages nearby to explore like Carcoar, Millthorpe and Rockley. The cottage was nice, clean and well-stocked with books and games. We didn't miss the tv at all. The thick stone walls meant the place was pretty cool despite it being in the early 30s outside. Recommended :)

    Danielle2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The most beautiful and perfectly renovated farmhouse with gardens and surrounding landscapes. Perfect for anyone seeking some rest and relaxation in the countryside and kitted with all you could need. Brad and Sophie were fantastic hosts who were super happy to discuss anything we wished to ask about the farm, house and surrounding areas. Lovely people on a lovely property, would highly recommend (also Ernie’s an added bonus!)

  • Cute, Clean and Close. Benny's cottage is everything its advertised to be. Its cute, but with plenty of room. Its stylish, but not over the top. Its clean with everything you need for either overnight or a few days. And, its close to shops, cafes and several hotels. Easy walking distance to lots of eating choices. Benny was helpful and easy to talk too. Most enjoyable and would certainly recommend.

    Gerry2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just like the pictures, it’s very artistic and the space had a lovely welcoming and relaxed feeling. The bed and pillows are amazing and the location is fabulous (the train woke me up, but once I realised I wasn’t in the middle of a hurricane I snuggled straight back to sleep). Really close to town - easy walk - and so easy to come and go from with parking on the street and you can tuck your car in off the road at night. It’s a great place and you’ll be very pleased with your choice if you like the look (I loved it, was a very boutique space). Kitchenette has microwave but no other cooking amenities.

  • The ivy lodge is such a beautiful space. Filled with beautiful art work and photography. Cute finishing touches. Fantastic communication and great tips for the local area. Would 100 percent would stay again.

  • Great location with easy walk to town. I stayed one night and then used for a meeting next morning. Good for this as near main road, lots of natural sunlight with a cool photo studio feel and lofty ceiling. Heritage exterior but modern interior makes it an interesting change to the Bathurst cottage options.

    Nikki2020-02-17T00:00:00Z

  • This is a great off-the-beaten-track location. Beautiful views over the vineyards and plains to Bathurst and Wahluu. Thousands of stars and many kangaroos. Two very comfortable bedrooms and the whole place is spacious and light. Thanks for the top notch tea and coffee. We loved our stay.

  • This is a very peaceful location with wonderful views towards Bathurst. The host is courteous and the wine is delicious!

  • Great little cabin in a picturesque & quiet location. The hot water gas ran out during our stay but Mike was available immediately by phone & a new gas bottle hooked up within 5 minutes. If you’re a cold frog like me make sure you leave the heaters & electric blankets on - it can get cold overnight in Bathurst! It was a nice touch receiving a bottle of wine & block of chocolate to enjoy taking in the sunset views. We would definitely stay again.

We are about 2 km from the shopping centre in Blayney; population about 3000. Bathurst and Orange (population of 30 - 35 thousand); are both about 40k away. Regular train and bus services to Sydney; 4 hour drive. Canberra (The Nation's Capital) is about the same distance. The Elvis festival is at Parkes 3hs drive. Bathurst has several big car races and the B2B cycle race among many other attractions. We have off-road parking. Our street is a quiet cul-de-sac. We are a retired couple.
  • Brendon & Theresa have become good friends. I thoroughly recommend them for hosts on your next trip through Blayney.

    Peter2020-02-12T00:00:00Z

  • I had a great stay at B and T's home. This was my first time renting only a room. It went much better than expected thanks to them. Very nice, generous and pleasant people. Definitely went above and beyond to make my stay as good as possible. And they succeeded! I would definitely stay there again and recommend them to anyone that's looking for a room in the area.

They went out of their way to make sure that everything was just perfect for my stay and provided lots of little unexpected extras that made my stay so enjoyable. If you want to feel like you're staying with friends then I can't recommend them enough. Thanks Brenden and Theresa.

Our “little house” is our family name for our granny flat. It is modest, cozy and comfy. We are located mid way between Bathurst and Blayney. We are the perfect location to explore all the nearby villages and their charms. There is lots of natural light, beautiful country outlook. Perfect for a quiet getaway - whatever the weather. A great location to visit the nearby Orange food and wine region, as well as Bathurst - a gorgeous historical town and great for car racing enthusiasts!
The granny flat is attached to the main house where we reside but has a completely separate entrance. There is a queen bed, a sofa lounge that can be pulled out into a double bed, as well as an extra single mattress that if needed that can be set up on the floor. There is a kitchenette complete with a fridge/freezer, microwave, electric frypan, kettle and tea and coffee. We've got an outdoor bbq that you can request so please let us know if you'd like to use it! The bathroom has a toilet, vanity and shower. There is a flat screen TV with a DVD player. There is also an empty wardrobe with drawers, so any guests who like to unpack suitcases and feel at home are more than welcome to make use of that.
We are just outside the small country town of Blayney, and very nearby small local villages. Only 20 minute drive to Bathurst, a historic town with lots of beautiful buildings and great places to eat! Also roughly a 40 minute drive to Orange wine region and town centre.
  • Great place, highly recommend.

  • This lovely granny flat was way more than we expected. This was a much larger space than the photos in the listing portray. Although advertised as a "kitchenette" Jenny has provided a plugin hotplate, electric frying pan and microwave. Plenty of appliances to cook a meal. We were greeted by Jenny who had the A/C on which was a welcome comfort in what was a 37 degree day. Highly recommended.

    Sue2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Comfy and cosy, everything needed. Quiet and peaceful surroundings.

Both bedrooms have their own en-suite and the Eastern bedroom has the extra luxury of a double shower. There is a third bathroom that is designed to be used by any guests using the sofa bed in the living room. The house does not have any steps. We have a fully equipped laundry with a washing machine, dryer and a clothesline. There is an outdoor BBQ area and this too, is situated facing the breathtaking views to the north. In the living room you can sink into the soft and luxurious leather lounge or get cosy on one of the two large snuggle chairs. Settle in at night with a wine, turn all the lights off and gaze at the twinkling lights of Bathurst to the West. Hickory Moon is one thousand one hundred and seventy five metres above sea level which means in winter we get snow. Sometimes we get falls so heavy the roads will not be trafficable and you may have to stay an extra night/s. If this does happen, we will not charge you for the extra night/s. It is not common to be ‘snowed in’ for more than a day or so. The Oberon area boasts many attractions including Jenolan Caves, Kanangra Walls, and Mayfield garden …even if you are not into gardening Mayfield is not to be missed. There are plenty of lovely tourist drives to do and villages with excellent pubs for lunch or dinner. Further afield you have Leura and Katoomba an hour to the East, Lithgow and Bathurst just 45 minutes away. Taralga to the South and Orange and Millthorpe to the West, are great to visit for a day trip. There are a variety of dining options from the café at Mayfield, the two local pubs, the RSL club, an excellent Chinese restaurant and various other local eateries in Oberon. The two supermarkets in Oberon are well equipped if you want supplies to cook your own feast at Hickory Moon.
  • This place is amazing .The atmosphere has such a romantic feel and is perfect for a couples weekend .

  • Honestly The photos on air bnb don’t do it justice, woke up every morning in the comfiest bed you’ll ever feel in your life to the most beautiful scenery. Maxine was amazing, she and her husband were so incredibly nice and helpful! The house was sparkling clean, and had some beautiful touches that made it so unique. I can promise you now You won’t get this type of experience at a 5 star hotel My partner and I will definitely be back for our anniversary and hopefully for the snow

    Janice2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • At Hickory Moon we received courteous and prompt communication from Maxine. The design of the house and thoughtful furnishings provided for our full immersion in the uninterrupted view of the countryside. I didn’t realise how tense I was until I sat outside in the absolute quietness and listened to the silence. We spent 5 nights in this extraordinary house at its extraordinary location. Oh, and the sheep were entertaining each evening and morning. Hickory Moon provided isolation at a location that is actually close to good food, coffee and local produce... and for us the cars at Bathurst. The house is fully screened so you don’t need to worry about bugs and critters, and it is completely level, with access from the garage straight into the house via a glass walkway. I better stop writing, but Hickory Moon is sensational, and I’m not sure where else you get this experience for such good dollar value.

  • Absolutely stunning and idyllic property! Would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for an idyllic luxury property with a panoramic view.

  • Maxine’s place was amazing to say the least. As soon as my partner and I walked through the door, our jaws dropped with the view! The pictures definitely don’t do this place justice. From the bathtub in the bedroom, the amazing views in every room and the double shower, everything was just so luxurious and relaxing! My partner and I could barely get out of the bed because we were in such a relaxed state. Maxine gave us some great recommendations to visit in the area and was quick to respond. The check in and check out was incredibly easy and she gave us simple instruction to reach the place which made it very easy to find. Want to commend Maxine for building such a gorgeous home with such thoughtful touches! Definitely want to come back during the snowy seasons.

  • We had a very cosy and comfortable stay here. The interior of the house was spotless clean and stylishly renovated. The combination of the oil heaters, indoor fireplace and electric blankets meant we felt the full warmth of Jessica's hospitality!

  • The cottage is amazing, sparkling clean, comfortable and close to the shops. Jess went above and beyond the definition of Superhost! She even helped us get a local babysitter for an event that we had to attend to. Very friendly and helpful, what more can you ask for. Thanks again Jess, we had a very memorable stay.

  • We absolutely loved our stay here! We spent our days at Jenolan caves and came back to warm up by the fire (with the firewood kindly provided) and cooked our own dinner. Bathroom was well stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner and there was a hair dryer and hair straightener too! Very clean, easy to find! Highly recommend!

  • Had a lovely stay at Pine Needle Cottage! It has been beautifully renovated inside, with new furnishings and very comfortable beds - and there is plenty of space! The location is wonderful - we were visiting for the annual Oberon Rodeo, and it’s a short walk to both the Showground and the shops / restaurants. A particular highlight of our stay was sitting out on the back veranda, either having coffee in the morning or enjoying a beer in the afternoon - it’s a lovely space, and very peaceful. Jessica is a lovely host, prompt communication and provided all the information in advance. We had a lovely stay and I’ve already recommended it to a friend heading to Oberon in a few weeks time! Thanks Jessica!

You will be staying in a tent in our backyard, with easy access to our lower ground level. In a couple of steps you will enter via the laundry, then you can walk into the bathroom or into a small preparation space with basic kitchen supplies to prepare meals. A continental breakfast will be supplied. You will have access to a fridge, microwave and gas cooktop. I will leave a tub for you to return dirty dishes, which I will wash and replace. To eat your meals you can return to the tent or sit under a lovely shady pergola area covered in vines leaves.
The neighbourhood is very safe and established. Mainly residents are owner occupier. It’s a fairly upper middle class area because of the views towards the Blue Mountains, although many of the brick “mansions” are ageing now.
  • Wonderful friendly family environment. I thoroughly enjoyed my glamping experience.

  • My stay was amazing. Gideon was a great host who went far and beyond what was needed. It was great socialising with them and having the many chats. The dogs were beautiful and friendly. The weather was against me for trying out the pool but a very serene setting! Locality to the university was perfect and it was definitely value for money. LBGTQ friendly.

    Janet2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Gideons is an amazing host that takes really good care of his guest and makes you feel so comfortable and at ease

    Claudia2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing host, so caring and attentive. Very clean, amazing personal touchesx. Will definitely be staying again. Their two huskies are absolutely adorable and friendly.

    Nicole2019-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Gideon and Barry were friendly, approachable and easy going. I had never stayed in a private room in a house before so I wasn't sure what to expect. They were both very friendly. The bedroom and bathroom was sparkling clean. Barry made the most delicious coffees in the morning. For breakfast you could have porridge, toast, fruit or avocado. Both were very helpful with tips on where to eat in Bathurst. I thoroughly recommend staying with them. The two husky dogs were a delight.

    Russell2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • Barry and Gideon were two of the most humble and exceptional people I have ever met, and as hosts, this was no different. It was an absolute pleasure staying with them and if a time ever comes again in which I will need to stay in or around Bathurst, I know exacty where I will be going! As hosts, they are so welcoming and accommodating, that they made my time away from home feel like I almost never left. Everything was thought for, considered, and most importantly, done to ensure I get the most out of my stay with them. Their lovely home is very clean, comfortable and appointed. The private room and bathroom (a massive plus considering it is one of, if not, the only Airbnb within the area that facilitates a private bathroom for the guest within a house) is fantastic, being both cosy yet modern. They also have two beautiful huskies which are adorable and very friendly. They are probably two of the most loveable and gentle dogs I've spent time with and encountered, which is saying something as I still work within the pet industry. I truly cannot flaw anything within my entire stay (1 month) with them and that is extremely rare for any place or living situation. If for whatever reason, you're looking for a place to stay and want somewhere you can feel safe, relaxed, comfortable, whilst also enjoying yourself and wanting to make the most of the experience, look no further. I cannot thank you both enough Barry and Gideon! I greatly look forward to seeing you both again soon in the near future! Lots of thanks, love and best wishes. Josh :)

  • Very tidy and lovely house equipped with everything you need. A good bed and nice bathroom. Gideon had excellent restaurant recommendations and wants to share all he knows about the area. I had a great stay!

Leafy shade trees and a neat garden welcome you to a well appointed home. 3 very comfortable bedrooms sleeping up to 6 people, open plan living/dining/kitchen area with reverse cycle air conditioning, 55 inch tv, Google Chromecast and unlimited wifi, 1 bathroom with separate toilet, laundry facilities with a second toilet, off street parking with room for 3 cars (garage is available on request). Our house is located at the very end of Havannah Street in an established part of south Bathurst, with most homes being built in the 1980's. During race week (Bathurst 1000) the neighbourhood becomes hectic but all other times it's pleasantly quiet. There are only 2 adjoining houses and a local primary school oval next door. Bus stop and takeaway/corner shop are both approx 2 blocks of the house. Visit close by restaurants, cafes and pubs in Bathurst's Keppel Street
  • This is the fourth time we have stayed at Jenny's house. • Jenny is a great super host and she has a very beautiful and cosy home... We absolutely loved and enjoyed our stay with our two golden retrievers, Orla and Leo. The location is great and very convenient, very close to the town and great cafes around. It s a nice sized home with all amenities and thoughtful touches. Regards , KP and Mihir

  • A very comfortable , quiet and stylish home, well situated for Mount Panorama. Great dog friendly house. We would definitely stay again.

    Angela2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Jenny's place is like moving house but all you have to take is clothes and food. Everything you need otherwise is there. The house is very clean, spacious, comfortable, quiet and relaxing. The styling is beautiful with lovely art works and photos. The outdoor area was safe for our little apartment dogs. It's unfortunate that the drought has taken it's toll though as it is dry and hard under paw at the moment. There is air conditioning (thank goodness) which cools the whole house and I suspect heats it well in colder weather. We couldn't have asked for more and I will definitely stay again.

Above all, we were also impressed by Raelene’s attention to detail in leaving us a welcoming note on a small blackboard, fresh milk, a loaf of bread and Nespresso capsules. • Fabulous place for a weekend away in the country. The cottage was better than in the photos and very cozy and homely with lovely touches through. Very comfy bed. The gardens around the cottage were a lovely place to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the country. Raelene was a great host and very prompt with responses. Would definitely love to return for longer to explore a bit more.

    Lisa2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Taittinger is a credit to Raelene and her family who work hard to maintain high standards. The air-conditioned cottage was tastefully decorated, very clean and well supplied with more than you would need for a comfortable stay. The country cottage is set on lovely lush gardens which attract all sorts of native birdlife. Blaney, Milford and Bathurst are a short drive away and we found most amenities open on a public holiday. Our three-day stay was peaceful and comfortable and our privacy was respected. I highly recommend Tattinger to anybody who is after a peaceful and flawless country getaway. We look forward to revisiting.

  • Brian's property was really homely, he had thought of everything from cooking basics to creature comforts; hot water bottle, electric blankets and cosy blankets. When I had any queries he was really speedy with his responses. The property was clean and had beautiful views. I would definitley stay again.

  • Brian’s place is lovely, clean, quiet and comfortable. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the Bathurst area. And only a few minutes to the local pub for a feed and a beer. Lovely place to stay

    O'connell, NSW, Australia

Ideal for a romantic interlude, escape the city or just for a peaceful and relaxing country stay in a very comfortable, beautifully decorated, private and cosy studio in the beautiful O'Connell Valley, a 2 1/2 hour drive from Sydney. Easy access to many places of interest including Jenolan Caves, Mayfield Gardens and many other historical villages.
Description Spacious, private, clean and comfortable modern self contained studio (The New Lock Up) is a separate dwelling located on the site of the Old O'Connell Police Station (Circa 1865). Enjoy breakfast overlooking the garden with sunlight streaming in or just sit and enjoy the peaceful surrounds while watching a variety of beautiful birds in the garden. The studio is perfect for couples to curl up on a sofa with a glass of local wine or a cuppa. When you aren't out visiting the many interesting places you can relax and watch a movie, play a game of cards, trivial pursuit or just read a good book etc.
Things to see and do O'Connell - the gateway to the central west region of NSW is recognised as having the greatest number of earth buildings in Australia - the surviving buildings located in the picturesque O'Connell Valley are rare remnants of Colonial days in a farming community some dating back to the 1820s. O'Connell is located on the route established by Willam Cox stretching from the Nepean River at Penrith to the Macquarie River at Bathurst. The route was the first incursion into Wiradjuri country and was the first constructed road out of Sydney and was built by 30 convicts in six months linking Sydney to Bathurst , the first Inland European settlement. O'Connell and surrounds has many places of interest including historical villages and towns in close proximity. Enjoy some gold panning, golfing, cycling, bushwalking, trout fishing or some local wine tasting. Just a few minutes drive to the largest cold climate privately owned gardens in the World is "Mayfield Gardens". Spot the playful platypus swimming in the Blue Lake while you explore the underground rivers and crystal formations of the Award winning Jenolan Caves- Australia's most outstanding cave system. Enjoy a bush walk in the majestic Kanangra Walls National Park or nearby Evans Crown at Tarana. For a local Aboriginal experience "Blackfellow Hands Cave" is located just outside of Lithgow. Hassans Wall is also a 4 klm drive from Lithgow. For amazing views and a spot of fishing and/or swimming you can drive for 30 minutes to Lake Lyell. In just a little over an hour you can be in Katoomba to discover the many attractions including the Three Sisters, Scenic World, Scenic Skyway and Scenic Railway just to name a few. An abundance of wildlife including kangaroos, wombats, possums, echidnas and a variety of beautiful native birds can be seen around the beautiful O'Connell Valley. The historical town of Bathurst is just a 10 -15 minute drive away with lots to see and do including the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, National Motor Racing Museum, Abercrombie House, Bathurst Art Gallery, Miss Traills House Bathurst Goldfields and the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, Bathurst 1000 and other events at Mount Panorama. The Goldfields Beekeeper's Inn just a little over half an hour drive West is a worthwhile visit, then continue onto Millthorpe, a beautiful heritage listed village with fine dining which is also famous for its truffle production. Other places of interest include Oberon, Jenolan Caves, Abercrombie Caves, Hill End, Sofala and Orange.
