This historic farmhouse was built by the Duke of Sutherland in 1865. Guests wind their way down the tree lined drive way to be greeted by an impressive front entrance. Situated next to the Distillery of the same name, this is the perfect place to start exploring Sutherland. The village has a pub, restaurant, bistro, chippy, Chinese and Indian, so plenty of choice for a Highland village! Head East and you'll find Brora beach is one of the nicest in the highlands. Head West and wind your way up some of the beautiful glens in the area. We run sheep and cows as our main business, so during spring and early summer you'll perhaps witness some of natures miracles if you take a wander around the local lanes!
Situated right behind Clynelish distillery about 1/2 mile from the main A9. Rolling farmland with mountains and glens in one direction and the North Sea the other way.
  • Thank you for a wonderful stay. The house is lovely and well appointed. The location is convenient to the main roads but very quiet and peaceful. Victoria was very sociable and helpful, welcoming us into a beautiful old home. The farm fresh breakfast was delicious!

  • I had a really lovely time at Clynelish Farm. Victoria is just the best hostess you could wish for. The house is gorgeous, the setting is beautiful and I couldn't have felt more welcome and relaxed. Oh, and the eggs (layed by Victoria's hens and cooked by her expert hand) are pretty spectacular! I will definitely be going back. Thank you, Victoria.

  • Victoria was very friendly and easy-going. Our bedroom was very comfortable and the lounge, where you could spend time in the eveing and even bring in your own wine using their glasses cabinet, was very nice. There was a great choice for breakfast - you could build your own very individual combination. Thank you very much!

  • This was our best experience in Scotland this trip. The B&B is beautiful, clean, well kept. Victoria was very friendly and chatty but not intrusive. The room was lovely, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was great too! Situated on a working farm right next to the Clynelish Distillery, lovely views and peace and quiet but only about 15 minutes walking distance to town. Can't recommend it enough.

  • Victoria was very helpful over our "last minute" one night stay at Clynelish, we were well supported with travelling information and dining suggestions. The setting of a beautiful old farm house on idyllic coastline made it a stay to remember. Breakfast was excellent and I hope to stay again some day. Would definitely recommend to friends.

  • Victoria is a very friendly host and very helpful. although we had just stayed in the beautiful farm house for one night, we like the house very much. they keep some old features and history of the house. The rooms are spacious. we also like to see all the chickens and cows in the farm and their friendly dogs. I highly recommend the healthy egg breakfast, tasted very nice and fresh.

A pleasant room and a help-yourself breakfast in our family home in a lovely setting next to a working water mill in the coastal village of Golspie.
We have a room available on a hostel-style basis in our friendly Scottish / Kiwi home. The Mill House is right on the edge of the village of Golspie in the Highlands of Scotland, only 150 metres from the main road (A9), but in a very tranquil and beautiful spot. The room has a comfortable double bed and plenty of storage. There's a shared bathroom and a comfortable family sitting room with a log burner. It's a family home, pleasant but not fancy, indeed a bit scruffy in places. We have two very small children who are generally pretty well-behaved but they do scatter toys round the place and might break into song over breakfast. There's plenty of space for storing bikes and drying boots and waterproofs. The house is in a lovely setting, next to a working water mill, built in the 1860's, which we run (find Golspie Mill online to find out more ). We invite you to help yourself to breakfast - we offer Golspie Mill porridge, cereal, homemade bread when time permits, fruit, yogurt, tea, coffee etc or if you prefer you're welcome to use the kitchen to cook your own breakfast. We're also happy to point you in the direction of nice places to eat out locally.
Golspie is a small coastal village, between the sea and the hills. It's an hours drive from Inverness and an hours drive from the spectacular north coast. The area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, with great cycling on quiet roads, an excellent mountain bike track, lovely walks along the shore and through the woods. The popular Lands End - John o Groats cycle route passes the top of the road (150 metres from the house). The Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve is a couple miles down the road and is a lovely place to watch wading birds on the mudflats or look for seals at low tide. Nearby are nice beaches, good places to surf and kayak and we're only 30 minutes from some great hills. Royal Dornoch, Golspie and Brora golf courses are all within very easy reach and welcome visitors. In Golspie, there is a handful of shops, including a small supermarket, a chemist and an excellent hardware/gift store. Bigger shops are in Tain, a 25 minute drive away, where you can also visit the Glemorangie Distillery.
  • That was the best Airbnb family ever! Becky and Tom were great hosts and from the first moment it felt like as if I was a part of the family for years. I enjoyed dinner and the nice company a mit. Tom showed me everything about the old mill the next day. I strongly recommend a visit with Becky and her family!

    Jonas2016-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Becky was a great host. I enjoyed meeting her family and showing her daughter photos of wild animals in Africa. We had a speed chat about Scottish conservation issues which was fascinating. It would be great to intersect with Becky again on the conservation front. There is the stunning Dunrobbin castle and beautiful gardens on their doorstep as well as a magical boardwalks that meanders across the nearby river and finally ends on a viewing platform of a waterfall. A lovely location. Golspie isa charming little town. Thanks Becky

    Rowena2016-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • First Airbnb experience for us and we're so glad we did it! Had a lovely (albeit brief) time with Becky and family. My daughter was captivated by the geese and the trampoline! We highly recommend the local chippy & Poppy's cafe - free wifi and the best coffee in Scotland!

    Renee2014-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for one night at Golspie. Really friendly family home. Lovely location. Will return again in the future.

    Janette2014-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful (sadly short) stay at Becky's. Her and Bob made us feel very welcome, especially when they invited us to join them and the kids for breakfast (their bread is delicious!) and a lovely chat. The room is cozy, warm, with a comfy bed, the mill is beautiful and the location is very convenient while touring the Highlands. Highly recommended! ;)

    Eleonora2014-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Golspie and her house is really local thing. So there is so natural, charming villages and great spactacles. If you want to go natural highland, here is good choise! Becky's family is so adorable and the kindest people I have ever met. The bed was so comfortable and clean with beautiful flowers. Hi, becky! I already miss lovely your home. Your son and daughter poppie, humorous uncles, attentive your husband and even friendly wild birds. And when we were arrived late night, you made us warm dinner with wine. That make me healthy and warmth

    Finger2015-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Becky and her amazing family. From the moment we stepped in the door we were welcomed like old friends and felt right at home. The room was ideal for what we needed. Becky and Bob went out of their way to make sure our stay went as smoothly as possible and gave us loads of tips. Fantastic breakfast too. Would highly recommend! Thanks again.

    Austin And Ailsa2018-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Bottom line: we can't wait to stay again. Becky and her family are lovely, the place is great, and the family goes out of their way to be accommodating. If you have little ones, they are in for a treat as far as playmates go! We really look forward to our next trip to Golspie, partly to stay with the Shaws!

A caravan on a croft (traditional small farm) in the Scottish Highlands. Enjoy glamping here with stunning views, surrounded by nature and animals. Feel free to join in the daily work on the croft or explore the stunning surroundings. Go hiking or mountainbiking in the hills, explore stonecircles and cairns or take a trip to the beach, Dunrobin castle or Glenmorangie distillery - each just a short drive away. We are tucked away at the end of the road, yet within a short drive off the A9.
The caravan is basic and comfy: it has a double bed and a seating area, which can be turned into a bed, too, if necessary. So it would suit a couple or a family with up to two kids, but not two couples / four adults. There is a kitchen with a gascooker, oven, fridge and sink. Also a bathroom with a camping toilet, sink and shower. The water comes from the mains and power is connected, too. The views stretch across the hills and the valley of Grudie, through which the river Brora runs. You can go for hikes here and explore thousands of years of history, from cairns (stone graves) and stone circles to the remains of a clearance village (forcefully cleared in the 18th and 19th century). The caravan is parked up on the Croft and if need be (when it gets too windy) can easily be towed a few metres back beside the old shed building, where it's sheltered. This doesn't change your view much. The main house is a short distance away, so guests can enjoy their peace and quiet. We are a working farm with sheep, cows, horses, chickens, dogs and cats. The livestock are distributed across the fields of the croft, though it might happen that the sheep are grazing around the caravan or bring their lambs here for a snooze. If you fancy, you can collect your fresh breakfast egg from our happy hens. Our ponies happily have themselves brushed or taken for walks. You can also join in the croft activities, if you're up for it. Depending on the time of year, we are lambing, shearing, making hay, feeding out or shifting sheep with our collie dogs. We are surrounded by nature and wildlife, with deer, rabbits, pheasants and owls living in our woods. By going for an early morning or a late night walk you've got good chances of encountering them. From September onwards, the Aurora Borealis can be seen dancing in the sky.
Our croft is situated 1 1/4 drive North of Inverness, 15 minutes from the A9 in the tranquil crofting community of Rogart. The small village of Pittentrail, 10 minutes from here, has a little Spar shop with a post office. The pub opposite is open in the evenings, there's a bar and they do lovely meals, too. Various beaches, the Glenmorangie Distillery and Dunrobin Castle and Gardens are within a short drive. There is a seal colony down the road at Loch Fleet and there is a popular mountainbike track in Golspie. Dornoch has a few nice shops and restaurants an a little museum. The North Coast 500 (A9) is 15 minutes from here.
  • Amazing location to stay in the picturesque hills of the highlands! We had a wonderful holiday in the caravan, it’s located in the beautiful hills, there are very few people or phone signal, it is a great opportunity to relax and get away from everything! The view of the hills out of the windows of the caravan when you wake up is gorgeous, the sunset as you’re going to bed and the lambs wandering around the caravan too. Everywhere you drive is beautiful and we enjoyed going for walks around the place. The caravan is very basic, the shower, toilet and cooking equipment, but this adds to the appeal of it and the very ‘cozy’ feel. Steph and Tom were very welcoming and it was great chatting to them about life on the farm. One of our highlights was helping Tom and Steph out. We helped them with the newly born calf that was having difficulty sucking it’s mother’s milk and feeding a baby lamb a bottle of milk too (Of course you don’t have to help out if you don’t want to, but it is good fun if that is your kind of thing) We recommend making the most of the beef sausages from their cows as they are very tasty!

    Sim2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic caravan. Clean, comfy and super cosy. Amazing views. Steffi, Tom and eleanor were all extremely welcoming. We had some of their steaks and sausages which were extremely tasty. Collecting eggs in the morning was a highlight with the chickens following us around. Would recommend the caravan for a stay and certainly hope to be back again.

    Janice2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Steffi was a great host. Very quick to respond to our questions and helpful when we arrived to get us settled in. Her farm is fantastic and the view from the caravan beautiful. A really fun experience!

    Libby2017-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • It is a wonderful place! The view is amazing and the camper comfortable. The bed slept well, even for tall Dutch people. We made an off the road walk through the hills/mountains and saw a group of deers! It is nice to be woken by the sound of the animals on the farm. Stefanie is a great host. We loved it and certainly recommend it.

    Eva2017-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A treasure! The view is stunning and we even got a breathtaking sunset. Fresh eggs in the morning makes it a perfect farm experience. Would definitely book it again!

    Michael2018-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • The fresh eggs in the morning are amazing. The chickens are really cool as well. They have some interesting breeds to look at. The hosts are really friendly and are happy to chat about what interesting things they get up to on the farm. It was really windy during our stay however Steffi provided us with lots of duvets and blankets so we were nice and cosy! Definitely recommend if you want to get away from the busy tourist route. It's not far to drive to the coast. We went to John O Groats in just over an hour.

    Jennifer2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a relaxing, silent hideaway corner, this is the place to be! The views are stunning and it's a great starting point for exploring the northern tip of Scotland. The caravan was clean and well kept with the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. Would definitely recommend this little gem on the Scottish highlands

    Alistair2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Stefanie's place is wonderfull. Its perfect to het away from it all but not too remote and easily reachable by car. Our children really enjoyed the animals on the croft and were allowed to bottle feed a lamb and feed the chicks. Caravan itself was clean and comfortable and the view amazing. Will return here on our next Scotland trip. Thank you Stefanie & Tom for making this An unforgetable experience.

The Annexe comprises of one bedroom, one bathroom with shower over bath (quite powerful), and a kitchen/diner with wood stove, oven, dining table, sofa, fridge, microwave and TV. Free wi-fi is available throughout the annexe, however, it should be noted that mobile coverage and TV reception is poor; an Amazon Firestick is provided for your use (free digital channel viewing) and a small selection of DVDs. You also have your own deck area with table, chairs and a small chimnea - BBQ on request!
Welcome to Amberskye Annexe, so-called because, at sunrise and sunset, you can expect to see shades of amber, pink and purple on the horizon. At certain times of the year (mainly Nov-April), this spectacle is occasionally upstaged by the infinitely more mesmerising Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) illuminating the night sky during Winter (we witnessed them several times last winter!) Even on Summer nights, the valley is quiet and the stars are plentiful and piercing. Definitely worth sitting outside on the annexe patio and keeping cosy in front of your own little chimnea! Amberskye is surrounded by croftland, so sheep are often found in the fields behind (along with machinery). However, spring time is a wonderful season to view newborn lambs here, which can be magical. From the north side of Amberskye, the valley of Lairg spans out before you, encompassing the view of the Loch and stunning mountain views towards the West and North West Coasts - there are plenty of opportunities for fishing, water activities, mountain/road biking, walking/hiking, mountain climbing, bird watching, dining, entertainment and playing golf on some of Scotland's finest greens.
Tomich is a quiet, crofting neighbourhood, situated less than 2 miles from Lairg village.
  • It's a really nice appartment, a bit hard to find, but very romantic landscape! It was very clean and lovely decorated. We enjoyed our stay!

  • Cozy and beautiful accommodation, comfortable bed and a really fantastic view of the highlands. Stunning place. Absolutely recommendable!

    David2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Heather was a great host and we fell in love with her adorable annex. We had to change the dates of our stay, and Heather was very accommodating. Also on our way there, there was an incident on the road, so we had to find an alternative route. Heather was very kind to share her local knowledge, which made our detour shorter than it could have been. Although we never met in person, Heather was so quick to answer all of our questions. The annex was actually larger than we expected and had all the amenities that we needed. The kitchen was fully equipped, wifi was amazing, and the fireplace was a great way to end the night. We had breakfast in the back deck while watching the rolling hills and sheep roam around. It was such a peaceful stay, just wish it was longer. There was a lot of local touristy spots, which Heather has pamphlets and a house manual that gives descriptions on the local attractions. If you want a great city getaway, peaceful respite, and even an place close to adventure, definitely choose Heather's place!

  • It’s a nice clean cottage in a very quiet but beautiful environment. Many services are included and the price/night is highly reasonable. The rooms are large and nicely decorated. It’s a perfect base to explore the Northern Highlands. From Eastcoast to Westcoast, and even the tip of the North are all within a short drive distance.

  • Peter's house in the highlands was the ideal place for the six of us to explore the north of Scotland! Great place to undertake daytrips (and walks) to the westcoast, John o' Größte it the orkneys. Situated just far enough outside if brora to make you feel as though there was no one else except yourself in the vast loch that streches out infront of the house and the mount right behind it (just as shown in the photos). The house itself is large and spacious and at the same time very cosy! Great spaces to be together in our large groupe and at the same time the possibility to remove oneself and have some peace and quite in the conservatory etc. Peter was very helpful when he heard that our luggage had been lost by the airline. Would have loved to stay a little longer, maybe next time!

Broomfield Cottage is 154 years old and an original crofters cottage. With exposed stone walls and a roaring wood burning stove, it really is a taste of the Highlands. The garden is organic and natural and host to an array of wildlife and our free range hens. The view over looks fields and the Dornoch firth in the distance. The bedroom is spacious, comfortable and newly decorated. It is up stairs with its own bathroom. We are situated 4 miles outside of the Royal Borough of Dornoch.
Broomfield Cottage is our home that we love and we share with Biscuit Cat. Situated up a single track road surrounded by neighbouring crofts. We are only 4 miles from Dornoch a beautiful highland town with a great beach, shops, restaurants and our favourite cafe, The courthouse. Broomfield is only half a mile off the NC500 Route. We also run a wee glamping business, check out our other listing. Our cottage is full of character and highland history. A beautiful place to relax and unwind. The bedroom is up stairs with its own private bathroom. Our room is down stairs so you have up stairs to yourselves. The living area is shared, you are most welcome to sit and relax in the living room or take in the Highland air in the garden. Please see other notes about breakfast.
We live in a crofting community 4 miles out side of Dornoch. There are several places to eat in and around Dornoch or if you want to try the best chips then the Trawler in Golspie is the place to go. The Courthouse cafe is our favourite hang out. Really lovely place to enjoy a cuppa, breakfast, the best toast, lunch or a delicious cake. It has great decor and friendly staff. The coop shop is open till 10pm for any food food supplies, the lovely general store is open til 6.30pm and 8.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturdays during the summer. Definitely our favourite shop and has a good selection of vegan and free from goodies. Definitely worth a visit The beach is just a short walk from the town centre. A beautiful beach. We can guide you to see the seals at low tide at Loch Fleet, Dunrobin Castle is only about 10 miles north in the town of Golspie Tain is 9 miles away there are bigger supermarkets there including Lidl, Asda and Tesco's. Grants the bakers sells award winning pies, freshly baked breads and more.
  • We had the most wonderful experience with Jim, Gill and Biscuit. We couldn't have felt more welcome to their little slice of paradise. Lovely conversation and lots of advice on things to see and do nearby. We also enjoyed the most delicious breakfast, and Gill even sent us on our way with a bag full of delicious home baking. We wish we had booked to stay for longer!

    Sarah2018-10-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Gill are wonderful hosts with a wonderful home. We only stayed for one night but could have easily stayed much longer. Their hospitality was amazing and they were great company to chat with. Communication prior to arrival was great, the bed was comfy, and breakfast was delicious.

  • It was great experience staying with Jim and Gill. They are both very welcoming and they really make you feel at home. If you follow the instructions it will be easy to find the place. The house is very clean and tidy. The vegan breakfast was homemade and superb. It can not be (Website hidden by Airbnb) must be seen :) I would definitely recommend to other travellers to stay here if they are looking for accommodation in the area. Thank you for the great stay! ☮ ✌

  • We had a great time staying with Jim and Gill, they were very friendly and welcoming, and had thought of everything we might need, including excellent TV choices! Would happily have stayed longer but this was the last leg of our trip. The room was clean, cosy and well decorated, the bed was nice and comfy. We had access to our own bathroom as well. The breakfast was lovely, loads of choice and all delicious. This was our first Airbnb wih a private room in someone's house so we weren't sure what to expect, but we were really impressed!! Thanks again

  • One of the best places we've stayed! Jim and Gill are lovely people and incredible hosts and made us feel very welcome in their cosy home. The breakfast and snacks were super tasty and it was great to chat with them both about the area and their walking adventures. We've already booked our next visit!

    Jenny2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • You can expect outstanding hospitality at Jim and Gill's cottage. This couple are two of the most friendly people around and you will immediately feel very much at home. The home is very clean and comfy and I enjoyed an extremely good night's sleep in a warm, comfortable bed. The shower has some force and is very invigorating. Enjoy your stay.

    Bill2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We would highly recommend Jim & Gills cottage. They are super friendly, knowledgeable about the area and thoughtful about their guests needs. Everything was clean and even nicer than in the ad. We absolutely adored the healthy vegan breakfast Gill lovingly provided for us! We will definitely come back!

Perched on an elevated hillside location with far reaching views across the glen, we have 2 comfortable self-catering A-frame lodges available. Each lodge sleeps 2-4. Set in a truly idealic and peaceful rural location for those looking to get away from it all. The perfect base to explore the north Highlands and the NC500.

The village of Rogart is Approx 2 miles away, where you will find small grocery shop, post office, and friendly pub. Excellent golfing, walking, beaches, cycling, castles, are all available not too far from the lodges.
  • The lodge was clean and tidy with all the mod cons you need if self catering. The view is fantastic. We didn't meet our hosts but if we had needed them they were only a short drive away. Excellent base to see mountains, lochs and castles. Recommend a visit to shin falls if you can. We had no immediate neighbours and the silence was golden. Thanks for having us Cheryl!

  • Had a really nice and quiet stay at the lodge. It's cosy, warm and has a beautiful view. We arrived late after a LONG drive and the comfortable bed was very welcome : ) We used it as a place to explore then north coast, very beautiful and the lodge is ideally placed. I'd go again tomorrow if I could only find the time, it was an extremely relaxing and stress free stay. Obviously we watched the provided Braveheart DVD ;)

    Gavin2016-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it. Can't imagine how a better anniversary week could have gone. The lodge suited our needs to a tee. We were blown away by the view from the living area every morning. The nearby towns are fun to explore; I would particularly recommend Golspie for its walks. We were genuinely sad for the holiday to end. Cheryl texted a couple of times just to make sure we weren't needing anything, and was quick to respond to what few queries we had. Highly recommend! Thank you x

    Navin2015-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very quiet and peaceful location, well off the beaten track but easy to find and with good parking, with an absolutely gorgeous view, particularly with the French windows - watching a local owl and other nocturnal creatures go about their business was fascinating. Comfortable and well-appointed, offering all we needed and more. The hosts can be found/contacted at a nearby hotel but communication before and during our visit was excellent, and we found Cheryl and Angus charming, friendly and helpful.

    Henry2017-08-14T00:00:00Z

Corry Cabin is a super get-away for anyone travelling around Scotland on the NC500 or on your own adventure looking for a unique and homely stay. It has all the amenities you would need for day-to-day life including a sink, running water, mains electric, free wifi, a shower and toilet. Corry Meadow is a working croft with rare breed cattle and sheep and 62 acres of land for you to explore! Go on an adventure to find our waterfall then come home to a cosy fire and a comfy bed.
Corry Cabin is a log cabin, rough on the outside but with a warm and comfy welcome inside. We have decorated it with our own paintings and ornaments to give it a really homely feel. Set up for short or longer stays it has all the plates, cutlery, mugs and wine glasses you would need with a sink and a double ring gas burner for cooking meals on and heating water. There's also an electric kettle. There isn't a fridge but there is a storage box in the shade on the porch to keep items cool. It has a double bed and a sofa that can be converted into a very comfy double bed or used as a single so it's suitable for up to four adults who are quite comfortable with each others company! It isn't suitable for toddlers or younger due to the open fire and off-grid shower but older children are welcome if you think it would suit them. There is a dining table with four seats, a pile of board games and books or free unlimited wifi. Corry Cabin is at the top of our dirt track road in the centre of Corry Meadow. It has views over Rogart and the neighbouring Rhemusaig, which means hill of primroses. There are fantastic walks where you can see right to Loch Fleet or just adventure on the croft itself!
Rogart is a small but very active crofting township. The village of Pittentrail has a pub, The Pittentrail Inn, where you can meet Hector and get a pint and a fine meal. We also have a small shop, Sandy's, where you can buy almost anything you can think of!
  • Petit chalet très mignon perché sur une colline à côté des troupeaux de moutons. Nous sommes arrivés, le feu était allumé et nous avons été agréablement surpris par la décoration. Si l'occasion se représentait, nous y retournerions sans hésiter !

Our landpod is the latest addition to our peaceful highland glamping escape. The pod sleeps two and is kitted out with Thai mattresses and bedding, the pod has its own outdoor table to enjoy the view from. There is a compost loo, shower shed (we cannot garuantee hot water as sometimes it's affected by local water pressure and weather.) a fully kitted out kitchen shed and free use of washing machine. The facility's are shared with the bell tent visitors so a maximum of 4 other people only.
  • Cute little pod for those wanting to enjoy nature without having to set up camp themselves. Well stocked kitchen was convenient to cook breakfast in the morning!

    Ankita2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you so much to Jim and Gill for our stay, the landpod was fantastically set up. It was also great to have access to all the extra spaces, particularly the dining pod, which was a lovely space to just sit and talk. An extra special thank you for the local tip about the presence of seals, Jim went above and beyond what we expected.

    Heather2018-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jim and Gill were extremely welcoming and flexible for my needs while working locally. Their timely responses enabled me to sort out the accommodation at late notice.

    Andrew2018-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • we stayed in the landpod for two nights and it was just awesome. Jim and Gill were extremely nice and helpful hosts. They gave us a lot of useful tips for things to do around the area (seal and salmon watching, dining...). Staying in the landpod surrounded by the free-range hens was great, plus you can enjoy their eggs for breakfast ;)

    Alexander2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Long story short - Jim and Gill are excellent!!!!

    Rick2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • I am happy to write a review for this place is wonderful. Staying at the dwellings that Gill and Jim have set up on their farm is an experience in itself. I can only imagine how much effort it must be to set it all up. They have cozy kitchen huts and separate huts for shower and the interesting compost toilet. I also liked that they have decorated the place with a nice LED powered by solar energy. My stay here was a great experience. Unfortunately, I couldn't stay here longer and I so wish I had. I very much liked their place but not as much as their warm hospitality. Really a great place just an hour away from Inverness. I do hope the next time I'm on my way to North Scotland I'd make it a point to stay here again for at least two whole days. Thanks Jim and Gill :)

    Deep2018-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • You couldn't ask for more welcoming and considerate hosts than Gill and Jim! The setting and pods are beautiful with really thoughtful touches throughout that make this a really special place. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • During a motorcycle camping trip with my son to Scotland to complete the North Coast 500 (an amazing experience!) the weather turned a bit cold and wet, so I turned to Airbnb where I found this property, that was located in an ideal place for exploring the north coast. I put in a request and Janice replied quickly and made the place available for us the next afternoon. Janice and Garry met us at the property and made us feel most welcome. The property is in a lovely village with shop, chippy and restaurant a couple of minutes walk away. The property is spacious warm and comfortable, it has been updated and decorated to a high standard, the work is currently still ongoing so there were a few unfinished bits indoors and out, but it didn't affect our stay. We definitely hope to return one day!

  • Lovely cottage by the Loch. Good view of the loch from the front door. Walking distance from a coffee shop, convenience store, and fish and chip shop. It's a small town so things open late and close early. The house has everything you'd need for self-catering. Central heating, but it's well insulated and the weather was nice so we never used it. Good wifi. Super clean. Bed was pretty comfortable.

  • I was here for a couple of nights with a group of 10 friends and I can definitively confirm all the positive reviews I had read. The house is really beautiful, clean and well stocked with all the basic things that can be used. There are many towels, shower gel, hairdryer, and pans and crockery in the kitchen. We also found milk, fresh fruit, bagels and butter, yogurt and fruit juice for breakfast. The house consists of three floors. The ground floor is with the entrance, a large and well-equipped kitchen, a lounge and one of two bathrooms. On the first floor there are three bedrooms and the second bathroom and on the last floor there are the last two rooms a little smaller than the others. The rooms are all very nice, especially the three on the first floor and the two bathrooms have a fantastic shower! All taps are with the water mixer, that is not discounted in uk. In addition, the house is a stone's throw from the sea and in fact there is a beautiful sea view. Check-in and check-out was very easy and convenient. An excellent quality / price ratio. Finally, Valerie and Trevor were absolutely helpful and friendly. I strongly recommend this accommodation.

Lovely clean, two storey, large private cottage on the picturesque 400 acre Blarich Estate in the Highlands. The cottage has all modern utilities. It’s just 10 minutes drive off the main A9 and coast road, 54 miles north of Inverness city centre. Just a few minutes’ drive away there is a local pub and small shop. The nearby towns and Inverness itself offer plenty of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants and theatre. We are part of the NC500
You are renting the entire house, complete with living room and kitchen. The property has four bedrooms: Room One is downstairs and has a double bed, upstairs Room Two can be either two singles or a large double, Room Three has two single beds, Room Four has one single bed. All have a shared bathroom (bath, shower & toilet). All the bedrooms have storage space. We provide fresh bedding & towels, free and unlimited Wifi, TV/DVD player with Freeview, hairdryer, full kitchen facilities with basic foodstuffs including tea & coffee, washing machine & dryer, and ironing equipment. The house is warm and cosy with plenty of hot water. The house is set back and quiet, with private garden area and direct access to the entire Blarich Estate where there is hill walking and fishing, plus a full size basketball/tennis court. The small Highland village of Rogart is just two miles away. N.B. We can provide a travel cot, highchair and stairgates, if required
The Highlands is a wonderful place to visit with breathtaking scenery, many interesting local sights and activities and an abundance of wildlife. The nearest community is the small village of Rogart, two miles away. There are a few houses scattered along the route to Rogart but none nearby. Burnside is joined to another of our cottages, Jock's Cottage, which is also a holiday let - very similar in style. The Blarich Lodge is a short 3 min walk away down the driveway . Behind the cottage are miles of empty rolling hills, mountains and rivers which you are free to explore. The family who own the Blarich Estate and who live in the Lodge are very approachable and will happily help you with any enquiries, but equally they will leave you alone to your own devices and respect your privacy.
  • We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It had everything we needed and there were some thoughtful surprises on our arrival. The burn right outside the house is lovely and would make an ideal place to paddle (unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite warm enough!). The house is very well located for exploring both the Eastern and Western Highlands.

  • Annelie’s place is one of the best and beautiful houses we stayed. The location is fantastic, check in bit early to explore. Annelies is a super host!

  • Great place to have a cosy stay and explore the highlands. Brora has a great beach, Golspie handy shops and with a bit of driving Clashnessie, Betty Hill, Oldshoremore all stunning beaches.

  • Sadly, we only stayed one night at Annelies. This cottage is really lovely, very clean and has everything there what we needed. We were greeted with fresh flowers in the livingroom and bedroom and some bottles of wine and crisps. In the evening, we got to use fireplace, which was really nice! Another thing I have to note is how quick Annelie answered our questions. We were even able to check-in earlier than planed, which was really nice of her. If we'll ever get back here, we would stay at Burnside Cottage again! :)

A stable cottage 150m from the beach, where you can hear the sea from your bed, and see the mountains as you look out of the bathroom window at the view. Very cosy, with wooden floors designed so you can come in straight from the beach :... The house is suitable for two adults, and one child between the age of 5 to 16. The small single room is downstairs, with shower off. Double en suite is upstairs in low ceilinged open plan gallery, approached by winding wooden stairs from living area.
Lovely open plan, newly renovated stable cottage with lots of light and wooden floors for coming in from the beach. Cosy cottage with country style, and open plan kitchen for easy use and access. There is wifi available.
Local village shop, gorgeous 2 mile long golden beach, fun surfing (on a rough day) and long walks along the golden sands to Loch Fleet (seals, birds, nature reserve & SSSI) and Royal Dornoch Golf Course (No 12 in the world). Views onto the mountains throughout.
  • The house is lovely and warm, crafted with care and skill from a stone barn. The gorgeous beach is a short pleasant walk and the windows catch the breeze from it, yet give privacy. Mary's gardens were a marvel even my 8 year old son appreciated; he ran to get me to show me some of her plantings. We really enjoyed seeing the many books and photos telling the story of her family. We mistook the home's size and sleeping capacity, but this was from our carelessness, not her representation, and we were still enchanted. Mary helpfully left groceries for breakfast. Highly recommended.

  • Absolutely a marvellous place to stay #airbnbperle

    Ivo2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Mary and Kenneth are so kind and welcoming, they treat their guests like part of the family and really help them feel comfortable. The guesthouse is a charming space, just two minutes from the beach and close to all the attractions of the north-east coast.

    Hugo2016-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed my recent stay. The property is well equipped, clean and comfortable. Mary is a friendly and helpful host. The property is in a fantastic location, with the beach very nearby. I would visit again and be happy to recommend.

  • Cosy place, friendly people, lovely beach! Nice stop! Thank you Mary and Kenneth!

  • Mary and Kenneth are a lovely couple, who gave us a warm welcome to their home. Little Tarbit was very comfortable with everything you might need, and within a couple of minutes of the beach. Embo is a great stepping off place for loads of places around Sutherland and nearby is huge expanse of a beautiful beach.

    Donald2016-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Little Tarbet was fantastic. Mary and Kenneth were faultless warm welcoming hosts who laid the foundations of memorable stay. Little Tarbet was a gem inside and out and we recommend a stay here to anyone wishing ti explore the amazing beaches and stunning surrounding countryside.

  • Little Tarbot's location was perfect for those who want direct access to a beautiful windswept beach, with access to an amazing fairy tale town of Dornoch for shops, walking around and coffee. Magical!

  • Place is great, comfy, very clean, and quiet, which is really important when you have spent a day traveling and you dream about good rest -) We had a lovely stay and perfect sleep here. Hosts are very nice and , helping and friendly. And we definitely recommend this place !

  • From the moment we arrived we knew we made the right choice staying with Trish and her family. We basically had a whole floor for ourselves. The room we slept in was big and comfortable and impeccably clean. Wifi was good and fast, breakfast was perfect with so much to choose from. Trish and her family were perfect hosts, always up for a nice chat without being too intrusive. If you are looking for accommodation in the area don't look any further!

    Thomas2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming hosts, who kindly invited me to join them for dinner as the restaurant in town was a couple of miles away (and I was on a bike, which I didn't fancy getting back on after a long day). Nice room with good facilities, large desk & TV and comfortable twin beds.

    Andrew2016-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Trish and Steve were the best of hosts. The location was perfect for my short cycle tour and I was also very kindly allowed to leave my car - taking up space in their drive - for a couple of days while I toured, which was most helpful. The room was spacious, clean and contained all the right amenities. I'd definitely stay here again if I were to come up for another trip.

    Robert2017-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • We were privileged to be Trish's first Airbnb guests. I had friendly communications in the run up to our stay. We had a lovely welcome and enjoyed a very comfortable night in the very well appointed double room with tea coffee and shortbread. Breakfast was superb and I can heartily recommend.

    Clint2016-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • Spacious room with all the necessities, quiet locationm, welcoming hosts and massive breakfast.

    Lois2017-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • Trish is a very warm, kind and generous host. It was great to spend the evening chatting to her and her family (after being fed generously- just what this cyclist needed after a long day on the road!). The room is spacious and comfortable and the bathroom just down the corridor is great too. Fantastic views from the house of surrounding countryside. Make sure you keep going past the barn to find the house (it's the last on the left!).

    Josh2017-07-28T00:00:00Z

We are located in the country, 5 minutes away from Dornoch. Here you can find quaint shops, fine restaurants, cafes and the most fantastic beach. The famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course is also a 5 minute drive.
  • Lovely location , awesome hosts, a sparkling clean space. Yvonne and her husband provided a nice breakfast too. We enjoyed staying here and highly recommend it .

    Mhairi2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The space was modern and extremely well kitted out. We had a wing of the house to ourselves. There were lots of great touches and an extensive "help yourself" breakfast. Great that dog allowed in house and safe area to keep bikes. View was lovely. Quiet. A bit tricky to find but Yvonne very helpful. Several miles outside of Dornoch. Great fish and chips in Golspie. We thought accommodation was amazing and perfect for our needs. It far exceeded our expectations.

    Su2018-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed one night as we were transiting though. We intend to return and explore the area around Dornoch and will definitely stay here again, for us it was perfect Truly warm and welcoming hosts and exceptionally well appointed accommodation in its own wing! We had everything and more that we could have wished for in a beautiful location. The breakfast provided was wonderful and comprehensive I can’t recommend highly enough if you’re looking to stay in the area you won’t be disappointed

Spend some time in our traditional croft house with views over Loch Migdale. Go walking, bird-watching, mountain-biking, cycling, kayaking or fishing during the day then relax in the conservatory in the evenings. With plenty of attractions nearby you can enjoy the best of Sutherland and the North Coast 500 from this quiet, but well connected, location. A variety of options are available locally for wining and dining or simply provide for yourselves from the well equipped kitchen.
Semi-detached cottage on two floors. Downstairs: Lounge with coal fire, kitchen (4 ring cooker, fridge with ice box, microwave, washing machine), family bathroom with corner bath, conservatory. Upstairs: Double ensuite bedroom with shower, second bedroom (double plus single). Electricity and oil-fired central heating included, however, we use an honesty box system for coal.
The cottage is in a rural location, approx 2 miles from local shops and 15 miles from nearest supermarkets. Well placed for all local attractions - beaches, golf courses, castles, distilleries, fishing, walking, mountain biking, cycling etc.
  • This cottage is in a lovely secluded peaceful location with lovely views over Loch Migdale. If following the sat-nav and it takes you over the bridge from Tain towards Dornoch and the Bonar Bridge my advice is don’t go via the Spinningdale single track if late at night. There are some lovely walks from the cottage and it can be used as a springboard to explore this part of Northern Scotland. Just be prepared to use the single track routes to the west and north west at a more sedate pace than when using the A9. Can recommend the beaches at Dornoch and a highlight was using the Nigg two car ferry to explore the Black Isle. Dunrobbin Castle at Golspie is also worth a visit. You can expect a warm welcome from Angus and Joyce who are extremely helpful if you need advice or tips on things to do. If self catering there is a Spar and butchers in Bonar Bridge and larger supermarkets in Tain and Dornoch. The cottage layout is suitable for dogs and there is a private fenced in garden , just be aware of the nearby sheep and cows and ensure the dogs are kept on leads. Enjoy!!

  • Jacqui's home is lovely. This was our first Airbnb, and it did not let us down. Everything about Jacqui's was spot on, and more, Jacqui is a wonderful host, the room we were given had a sea view and was immaculate, as was the bathroom. The breakfast was just right, neither of us fancied a heavy cooked breakfast, so the filling continental breakfast was enough to keep us going until after lunch. It is on the roadside, but to be honest, we did not hear the light amount of traffic. It is ideal if visiting Dunrobin castle, which is about a 5 minute drive away, or not far from Dornoch and Tain. If we ever travel up this way again, we would certainly stay with Jacqui, and we would recommend it.

    Debbie2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqui's place was in the perfect spot directly across the street from a beautiful beach and park. She was flexible when our check in plans changed at bit. Kato (the big, fuzzy dog) is awesome! We love him. I would highly recommend Jacqui's place!

Our vision was to create self-catering accommodation in the centre of the charming town of Dornoch. Our self-contained 2 berth luxury Glamping Pod (King Size bed or Twin) is modern and quirky with a high spec finish. Its within short walking distance to restaurants, pubs, cafes, the world renowned Royal Dornoch Golf Course and Dornoch beach, one of the most wonderful beaches in the Highlands. Accommodation includes off road parking and an outdoor decked BBQ area to relax when the sun shines!
This is a bespoke glamping pod that we have designed and finished to a luxury standard. Its a small space but its quirky, unique and fun! :-)
The pod is located in the secluded corner of a residential area in the centre of Dornoch. There is no mountain view but that definitely has its advantages with many local attractions just a very short walk from Foxy's Den. Within 5 minutes walk to the world famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course, Dornoch's beautiful beach and many local amenities, restaurants and pubs also close by.
  • Well designed, comfy and stylish pod, with easy access to town. Courthouse well worth a visit for breakfast.

    Beth2018-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We have nothing but great things to say about this space and Jacqui/Ewan! The pod is well-decorated, super clean, and just fun to stay in. The hosts include a book of local recommendations. We were only there a night, but are already planning to come back sometime. The town is cute and hospitable; we enjoyed the local restaurants and pubs, as well as the beach. Would definitely stay again!

    Bethany2018-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing little place to stay, you wont be dissapointed!

    Chloe2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon for one night, and we were blown away. The location is amazing - while Dornoch is a small town, the "downtown" is a 2 block walk away. The "den" itself is very comfortable, and it feels much bigger than it actually is - kudos to Jacqui and Ewan for creating such an awesome pod. Jacqui and Ewan were also very responsive throughout our trip, and they made some great recommendations to various places in town. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a fantastic stay and will definitely be recommending family and friends to stay here when visiting Dornoch and the Highlands! Thank you Jacqui and Ewan!

The Bakery Flat is situated in the heart of Sutherland, in the village of Lairg. It is a central location for touring the Northern Highlands and is just 15 minutes off the NC500 route. It is an ideal flat for either a single traveller, a couple or a small family. There is a double sofa bed in the living area. Lairg has many amenities including 3 shops, a post office, bank, 2 restaurants, a pub, café, visitor centre and Loch Shin boat / pedalo hire, all within walking distance.
  • Everything as described, good communication, great value. A1 service.

    John2018-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very cozy accommodation in the highlands. An old, but newly renovated house with a cozy decor. The highligt is a wood burning stove in the living room, which ensures warm highland evenings.

    Heike2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet flat and convenient parking. Shop is not far but we used to drive considering the easy parking. Lairg and the area provides entertaining activities and nice landscapes. Catriona has been very nice, visiting us and enquiring if everything was ok and if anything was missing in the flat.

    Emilie2017-08-08T00:00:00Z

Lairg is a good base for exploring the central highlands. Hiking, whisky tasting, enjoying good food, it all can be done from here.

  • Lovely flat in the main part of Lairg, close to shops etc. Great comfortable flat with lovely hosts. Used as a base for exploring the area and would definitely recommend

  • Nice quiet town -place smelt a bit musty but but fine after we opened doors and windows. If you a light sleeper sound does travel through from upstairs. We got used to it after the first night. Overall satisfactory stay!

  • This is a beautiful, clean, cosy caravan. Everything is provided, bed linen is fresh and clean and all the small decorations make this a very pleasant place to stay. We would definitely book again as Dornoch is a lovely place with beautiful locations to see. The caravan park is spotlessly clean and very peaceful. Would highly recommend.

  • This was the perfect place for our family trip to the Highlands! There is everything you could need in Dornoch and it allowed us to explore more remote villages knowing we had a comfortableplace to stay at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend this as a great base to explore the Highlands.

  • The highland escape was truly that. We found a well-appointed, cosy and spacious cottage only 5 minutes from the amazing beach. We could not have asked for a better place for our kids to wind down after several days of strenuous travel.

  • The place is amazing and we really enjoyed our stay. Jackie was a very helpful and easy to communicate with host. The house is spacious with 3 beautiful double bedrooms, large kitchen with a tastefully decorated dining area, and finally a living room with a large window providing magnificent views of the surrounding hills - pure bliss. We were 2 families with 2 under 5s - the place was perfect for us as there was plenty of space for the children to burn their energy, and they simply loved the bubble baths in the huge bath tub!

Best of both worlds! My welcoming Highland home gives you the peace, privacy and off-road parking that’s hard to find in nearby Dornoch itself. One-night stays welcome and no cleaning charge. Watch television from your king-sized bed after a hot soak in your private bathroom. Cycles and motorbikes can sleep soundly in the garage after being hosed-off, and cars slumber in off-road parking. If you are here for a special event and need a lift into town that can be provided by prior arrangement.
Relax on arrival in the sunroom, where you can also eat the continental breakfast provided next day, before exploring this stunning area where ospreys, seals and otters inhabit the nearby glens, lochs and sea. While one day is never enough, when you need to move on, early departures are no problem – do ask about the ferries to Orkney. You can store your own food in the guest fridge provided, and tea and fresh coffee are always available. Being just 1km from the A9 and NC500 route, this makes a very convenient base if you are touring about or taking a hire car from Inverness airport (about 1 hour away). Fancy an easy day? A gas barbeque in my private garden with long-distance views is available for groups free of charge. Come rain or shine, there’s also plenty of lovely walks right from the doorstep whether you want to be up in the hills, down in the forests or along the loch-side. Checkout is 9am if your booking ends during the week (as I have to go to work) but at weekends it's flexible by arrangement. Please ask in advance as I’ll do my best to accommodate your requirements. Access to the property during the day is possible by arrangement for multiple night stays. If you are not good with steps, you can instead have the ground floor double bedroom with adjacent private bathroom, as there’s no steps to get to that; please let me know if you require this option or have any other accessibility requirements, so I can best meet your needs. Basically – just ask beforehand or during your stay if you have any queries or requests; I’ll do my best to make you comfortable and welcome
A tranquil rural setting with commanding views of woodlands and hills; handy for Dornoch itself but without the hustle and bustle.

  • Calum was such a nice host. He was very warmhearted and helpful no matter what we needed. He knows a lot about the surounding areas and gave us a lot of good advice like good hiking routes or a place where you can see salmon and seals. He lives together with three lovely dogs and a cat. He is really caring about his guests. Perfect breakfast with everything we needed and a really clean room and bathroom. He seemed shy in the beginning but you can have really good conversations with him next to a fire in his living room. I would always come back to this fantastic house.

  • Calum was very friendly and accomodating. The only request he had was to leave at 9 am, since he had to go to work, but he had told me this beforehand and it was agreed, so no problem there.

This is not your normal holiday house for rent: this is our family home! We don't spend as much time here as we'd like to, so while we're not here we'd love thoughtful holidaymakers to have the chance to enjoy it in our absence. Minimum three nights stay.
With four bedrooms (two superking doubles, one king double, one twin) and three bathrooms (two ensuite), a large kitchen, a play/televison room and a magnificent old schoolroom – now a spacious dining and drawing room – Blarich Schoolhouse is the perfect setting for individuals, couples, families or groups of up to eight people who want to get away from it all in comfort and style.
Blarich Schoolhouse is three miles outside the village of Rogart, midway between Dornoch and Lairg. The surrounding area is a peaceful and thriving farming community, nestled in the valley of the River Fleet. The nearby coastal towns and villages have stunning beaches as well as world-renowned golf courses, while the local landscape offers great opportunities for hillwalkers. This is cycling heaven, only 7 miles from the NC500 cycling route and the A9 John o' Groats to Land's End route. Wildlife abounds and birdwatchers will not be disappointed in all seasons. Historians, garden enthusiasts and tourists can flock to the nearby Dunrobin Castle, home to the Dukes and Earls of Sutherland; further afield the late Queen Mother's Castle of Mey on the north coast is a hidden gem with stunning views of the Orkney Islands.‎ Whisky connoisseurs can enjoy tours of the local distilleries, and shooting, fishing and stalking are all available nearby.
  • Emma was extremely helpful in all respects, communicating regularly in a welcoming manner. The property is stunning. We will remember the sun streaming in through the old classroom windows lighting the enormous sitting room for a long time. The view down the valley to Rogart (with its convenient rural station) is incredible. Bedlinens and towels all top quality. Highly recommended.
