“The Fort of Sagres is located on a dramatic, narrow headland that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean to form Portugal's most south-westerly point. It dates back to the 15th Century, a time when the Portuguese coast was often the target of raids from the Barbary pirates who heralded from the nearby North African shores.”

“The most southwestern point of continental europe: a landmark! It holds the second largest lighthouse in Europe, with great importance for navigation. It was here that once people thought the world ended! Sacred place of pilgrimages and contemplation. Here you can watch the beautiful sunsets over the ocean and feel the mysticism of this landmark. ”

“One of my favourites place to eat and maybe the best in Sagres. Ask for a Cataplana or for "Feijoada de Choco". With very fresh fish and cozy ambiance.”

“There are four beaches in Sagres and all of them are different! If you want to go windsurfing or have a look at the family resort, go to Martinhal. If you don't mind a hike, walk the steps down to beautiful Beliche - and take a cool drink at the beach bar or watch the surfers. Tonel and Mareta are located in "downtown" Sagres and are great for surfing, too. On weekdays, you can go down to the port of Sagres where fresh fish is brought on land in boats and is sold. You can watch this from the restaurant/snack-bar "A Sereia" - and they obviously serve great fish at a great price. ”

“Another fortress from the discovery time! Unfortunately it's closed due erosion on the cliff's affecting the chapel, but it's a place you need to go, check the views to Sagres. A most do, it's the path sculpted on the cliff on the way to the water. Yes here you can do down the 35m high of the cliffs in SAFE!”
