  • With all that is going on in the world right now it was lovely to escape to the mill to celebrate our anniversary. We spent the majority of our time in the mill, but the surroundings were beautiful to go for a walk. Clare was an amazing host and responded to us straight away to help with starting the fire. The little touches and attention to detail were just perfect and I'd definitely recommend the mill for some time away. Thank you Clare, Lilia and Ellie xx

  • We booked Clare’s place as a very last minute escape following the cancellation of our trip to Berlin because of the ongoing Coronavirus situation. We wanted somewhere rural and private as a kind of ‘escape’ from the current situation... and what an escape it was... The location was amazing.... lovely views of the countryside and wildlife... to wake up to chickens and ducks playing in the pond opposite the mill was very cute......you can stay in the mill and see no one if you like, or drive 5 minutes into a lovely quaint town...perfect. The mill is simply stunning....no other words; beautifully finished and furnished... an absolute testament to Clare who project managed the mill’s restoration.. It was spotlessly & professionally cleaned before our arrival, the bath was amazing and the bed ridiculously comfortable. Clare was very generous & kind. The ‘perfect host’. Communication was excellent and all the extra touches on arrival ( I won’t ruin the surprise) made us feel special & welcome. If you don’t stay here, you really are missing out!! In this current climate of uncertainty and anxiety, this is really the perfect escape. We’d love to stay again in the future. Thank you Clare

  • Absolutely stunning accommodation, we will be back!

  • Clare is a lovely host and really made us feel at home in the mill! It is a beautiful property and well worth a visit.

    Ethan2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a really amazing stay at the windmill. It’s such a unique building and really nicely done inside. We really enjoyed sitting out on the staging to watch the sunrise, despite the single figure temperatures. Claire is an excellent host! She was really helpful - lending us some bits to clean up our walking boots after encountering a huge bog on our afternoon walk. Highly recommend a visit and we’d definitely be keen to stay again.

    Suzy2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • A really special, well designed space. We couldn’t be happier that it rained the whole time as it meant we got to spend the whole stay in the windmill! Thanks

    Steve2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing Windmill and what an amazing location! Clare was also so kind - and even gave us some fresh rhubarb from her garden. She was incredibly helpful and gave us lots of tips for the area. Would recommend this place 150 percent!

    George2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • The most perfect place for a relaxing break away! So unique & quaint, with the most heavenly bedding! Clare is a great host.... we can’t wait to come and visit again! X

The barn, in the grounds of our 15th century house but nicely private, is decorated in comfortable, modern rustic style, with underfloor heating and a wood burner. Outside is a fire pit for toasting marshmallows and stargazing before climbing into the king-size bed, dressed with soft Egyptian cotton. There's a large walk-in rain shower and robes. There are books to read, DVDs to watch, board games to play. Tear yourself away to explore the stunning local countryside, gardens, vineyards and castles or to eat in great pubs and restaurants.
Our holiday let is set in the grounds of our 15th century house, yet it is not overlooked. It has recently been refurbished (March 2017) and we have tried to make it the kind of place we like to stay in ourselves. The large, light-filled, open plan living/kitchen/dining area has floor to ceiling bi-fold doors opening out onto its own garden. Sit outside - choose from the table and chairs or the big double sun lounger - and listen to the birdsong or go for a stroll in the meadow. By night you can enjoy a starry sky by the light of the fire pit, which also has a grill for BBQ - or marshmallow toasting! The decor inside is 'country cool' - luxuriously comfortable and with nods to the area's heritage as 'The Garden of England', including vintage apple crates used as kitchen shelves and a framed photo of workers in a local hop field in the 1940s. In fact our house next door was, until recently, the farmhouse for the surrounding hop farm which still operates in the traditional way - one of the last remaining in Kent! There's a bedroom with king sized bed and garden views. The bed linen is 600 thread count finest Egyptian cotton, the duvets and pillows goose down. There's a Moroccan style shower room. Things are kept cosy with underfloor heating and fluffy rugs, a woodburner, soft bathrobes and slippers. Board games, books and DVDs will keep you busy plus there's free WiFi and a large flatscreen TV with freeview. The kitchen has all the essential equipment - whether you want to cook up a feast or simply prepare snacks to sustain you in between visiting the many excellent restaurants in the area. We provide a welcome hamper including milk, bread, butter and eggs plus a bottle of local wine to kick off your stay. You will find olive oil, salt, pepper, dried herbs and spices, tea, coffee and sugar. There's washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, cloths and cleaning products and, in the bathroom, heavenly Aromatherapy Associates body wash, shampoo and conditioner. We also provide logs for the woodburner and for the firepit. End of stay cleaning is included. John is a rehabilitation specialist and also teaches Nordic Walking and Pilates. So let us know when you are booking if you are interested in knowing more. We can offer private 'Learn to Nordic Walk' stays - a lovely safe way to exercise, to discover the local countryside and learn a skill that you can use when you return home - visit www.nordicwalkingkent.co.uk if you'd like to read about this increasingly popular activity. Likewise, if you have a niggling problem with your back, knee, shoulder...whatever!...speak to us about having private rehabilitation or remedial massage in the studio, which is right next to the holiday let. One-to-one and two-to-one Pilates can also be taught here. Alternatively, book a whole weekend or week long 'overhaul', with several hours of mixed exercise and advice on diet and lifestyle. It's all possible...Let us know what you want and we can tailor something to fit. ...

  • Little Bugglesden is a beautiful place for a cosy getaway. It's off the main road and outside of Tenterden so is gloriously peaceful, and after being warmly greeted by John on our first night we had a lovely weekend of going for walks, enjoying local food (The Three Chimneys was our favourite) and curling up on the sofa in front of the fire. The place is spotlessly clean and had everything we needed, and we would love to go back one day!

    Frances2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • I’m agreeing with previous comments on here. There were 10 of us and the place didn’t seem crowded at all. Some interesting furniture pieces. We walked to Sissinghurst castle which is worth a visit. My group all said how relaxed they all felt afterwards.

    Reece2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of 10 friends who were having a weekend away in the countryside and Tollgate Farm suited our requirements nicely. Tim was always prompt with his replies to any queries and the house was clean and as described. It was also spacious and didn't feel cramped even with the size of our group. We had a very enjoyable stay here.

  • A wonderful, peaceful, spacious home from home, we really had a great time, loved the house and all it had to offer, also enjoyed our time in Cranbrook and surrounding areas. We had a little trouble with the WiFi whilst we were there, so recommended you print off the information pack before you go, everything is on there you need to know, just in case you can't download it off your phone or my phone is out of the dark ages, really not very techo or the service provider was down at the time?????? I would fully recommend staying at Tim's, we had the best time ever. Thanks TIM

Fancy a short break from the everyday? Why not get back to basics in this beautiful hand made shepherds hut located in the heart of the beautiful Kentish countryside?
Set in 12 acres of beautiful Kentish countryside. This beautiful hut was designed and hand built on our family farm, it gives you a unique experience of living as our shepherds once would have done, albeit with the luxury of modern day life! So why not try a bit of 'glamping'? The hut has a fully functional kitchen, with hot and cold water to the sink, electric hob, combination microwave/oven, fridge, toaster and kettle. Plates, cutlery, pots and pans are all supplied. A small inbuilt table and two stools provide you with space to indulge in any tasty meals you have rustled up in the kitchen. Heating is provided from an electric heater situated in the kitchen plinth. A comfortable double bed to rest after a long day, with storage beneath to tuck away your suitcases. Bed linen provided. There is a small wall mounted TV with inbuilt freeview. A DVD player can also be found in the kitchen cupboard for those of you that fancy a chilled evening in. A separate toilet and shower room can be found on the side of the double garage in front of your parking space, towels provided. Guests also have the use of a small bistro table and chairs for those nights when you fancy a bit of alfresco dinning
I am the fourth generation of our family farm, where we have been since 1893. So it would be fair to say we love this area, and I'm sure you will too! Our country pubs make for a lovely atmosphere to relax, have a delicious meal and perhaps one too many drinks! There are a couple of popular ones less than a miles walk away. The area has plenty more to offer depending on what you're looking for. Leeds Castle and Scotney Castle are within a twenty minute drive. With many other national trust gems not to far away. The rare breads centre at Woodchurch is something for you animal lovers. Perhaps golf is your sport? Chart Hills is only 2 miles away, a brilliant course designed by Nick Faldo, and my brother in law is the resident golf pro if your looking for a lesson to hone your game! Headcorn airdrome is within walking distance, you may even be lucky enough to see acrobatic planes performing from the comfort of the hut! Or if you fancy a closer look there is plenty of space to set up a picnic or enjoy a bite to eat in the Wings Bar. The airdrome also hosts many events throughout the year which prove very popular and are well worth s visit. Biddenden vineyards with it famous Biddenden cider is in the neighbouring village or try some wine tasting at Chapel Down Winery in smallhythe. Explore some of the county's fantastic churches or visit some of its historic towns such as Canterbury or Rye. For those of you that fancy a little retail therapy a trip to Mcatherglen designer oulet in ashford or blue water shopping Centre may be up your street. I could go on forever but I'm always happy to advise if there is something in particular your are looking for.
  • Lovely little Shepard’s hut in a beautiful location. Dog friendly pubs ten minute walk away too! Can’t wait to come back in the summer. Thank you!

    George2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely stunning little shepherds hut. Much more spacious than we were expecting. I very very highly recommend staying here if you're wanting a quiet getaway from the busy city. 11/10 superb

  • What a amazing little place! It worth going just for the peace and quite. Really clean and tidy and a experience in its self. Definitely would recommend staying here I will also be going back

    Glyn2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely spacious Shepard hut, must bigger and warmer than anticipated. It warmed up very quickly. It was nice that the key was available in a coded box as sometimes when you met the host its often ackward.

    Steve2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the shepherds hut for two nights overall and we absolutely loved it! The place was amazing and beautiful. There is little lake outside the hut and you get enjoy great countryside views. There are lots of things to do around the area (visit the big cat sanctuary, visit the castles, or simply just enjoy the countryside). The area is very quiet and peaceful, but with a few groceries stores and cafes/pubs nearby (5-10 mins away by car). The hut was bigger in reality than what it looks like in the pictures. We had everything we needed and it was really nice that we were able to even prepare a meal if we wanted to. The heater would warm the hut quite quickly as well considering that it can be very cold during the winter. The check-in was very easy and quick and the details were provided in advance by Grant. The place was little bit tricky to find as we were not able to find the street name on google maps, but we figured it out easily following Grant's detailed instructions. Great place overall with nice little touches and clearly well cared by the host. Would definitely recommend without hesitation and would love to stay again soon! Thank you so much Grant!

    Angeliki Maria2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Grant's beautiful rustic Shepherd's Hut. He was a fabulous host and we would highly recommend this getaway. Great local pubs nearby and lots of lovely walks. Many thanks, Sophie & Reece

  • We really enjoyed our night at the hideaway. It’s a great spot to escape the city for the night. Went into the nearest village for dinner and drinks. Cosy on an autumn evening. A little difficult to find but Grant was on the other end of the phone to put us in the right direction! Would definitely stay again and recommend.

    David2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • By far one of the best value for money air bnbs I have stayed in. The Shepard’s hut was cosy yet spacious with everything you needed for a relaxing getaway. The location was fantastic and surprisingly secluded, we will definitely be returning in the spring.

It is such a stylish space and perfect for enjoying time with friends and family. Emma was super speedy with responses and easy to communicate with.

  • Our weekend at Bemba's barn was fantastic- thank you so much Emma. Emma was very patient / responsive to all our questions, helpful, and the barn is really gorgeous - great kitchen to cook in, lovely log fire, and super comfortable sofas. Just what we were looking for from a winter weekend. We did try walking directly from the barn to a local vineyard but got quite lost in the fields on the way - if you want to go for walks from the barn, make sure you understand the directions from Emma first!

Set in private grounds of 18 acres and surrounded by woods and wildlife, Gamekeeper's Cottage offers a peaceful and tranquil setting which is perfect for getting away from it all. Sissinghurst Castle and its famous gardens are only a 15 minute walk away by public footpath and London is one hour by train. The cottage dates from 1798 and was originally the gamekeeper's larder to the main house, which sits directly opposite the cottage. The wood burner makes it a cosy and romantic getaway.
This charming cottage is over 200 years old and has been beautifully restored, retaining many of its original features, including the wooden beams. A very large window provides great views to the gardens, large pond and impressive trees beyond. The wood burner is a favourite feature of our guests, providing warmth and a cosy atmosphere. All wood and kindling is provided. There are also electric heaters for those who don't want to light a fire. The comfortable double bed is on a mezzanine level accessed by a steepish staircase. There is a sofa bed in the sitting area. The bathroom has a shower, toilet and sink. The kitchen area has recently been refurbished. Sissinghurst Castle and its world renowned gardens is only a short walk away by public footpath, through enchanting woods. The property adjoins the Sissinghust Castle Estate so all you need to do is walk to the top of the drive, cross the road and you are immediately in the grounds of Sissinghurst Castle - the Castle itself is about 15 minutes walk away. Gamekeeper's Cottage provides a great retreat at all times of year. In autumn and winter it is cosy and atmospheric, with the roaring fire and wonderful crisp walks on your doorstep. Spring and summer are spectacular, with the "Garden of England", as Kent is known, blossoming and coming to life. Bluebell season, which is usually in May, is a particular favourite, with carpets of bluebells in the woods. The local wildlife is plentiful. As well as the resident ducks and chickens, there are many badgers, foxes and deer in the woodlands surrounding the cottage. In the dead of night you will hear the owls hooting and the dawn chorus of the numerous birds will greet you at day break. The area has many excellent pubs, some of which are over 500 years old. They all serve very good food and first class local beer. The Milkhouse in Sissinghurst and the Three Chimneys in Biddenden are both one mile away. There are many other National Trust properties nearby, including Castles, stately homes and gardens. The charming village of Cranbrook is 3 miles away and the Cinque port of Rye, with the golden sands of Camber, 30 minutes by car. London is one hour away by train and Canterbury one hour. There are many beautiful walks in the immediate vicinity, many of which can be started from the cottage itself.
  • We had an amazing stay here at Henrietta & David's lovely cottage. The setting in & amongst nature was nice & tranquil & just what we needed. Particularly enjoyed using the log fire which was set up perfectly. Hope to be back again another time.

  • Loved our visit to Ashford, Kent. The whole area is stunning and loads of things to do in the area. Especially worth the national trust membership and seeing all the local gardens and castles. Some of the local pubs are well worth a visit too.

  • We had such a wonderful stay - super cute accommodation and our hosts made such an effort in their recommendations - we loved exploring the area. Thank you!

  • We loved the beautiful and quiet situation with delightful views from the large, picture window. The space was well equipped to a good standard, cosy and warm with the welcomed option of the wood burning stove. Lovely walks on the doorstep and good food, wine and beer close by in historic country pubs. We'd definitely come back.

  • Fabulous cottage with a lovely setting. Super cosy once the wood burner is on! It has everything you need for making breakfast and dinner. The hosts are excellent and very accommodating. The local area / roads are great for cycling! Also - would recommend doing the wine tasting at the Chapel Downs Winery which is close by.

  • We had a perfect stay at the lodge. We stayed for two nights for a quiet weekend in the country and were not disappointed! David and Henrietta were quick and easy to communicate with and provided so much helpful information regarding travel, food, local attractions and of course the accommodation. They threw in lots of extra touches to make us feel at home and were super helpful. A lovely weekend!

Located in the High Weald area of Kent which is an AONB, The Cabin at Valley View Farm is set in its own space amongst 16 acres of wood and grazing. It used to be an old hop pickers mobile home but has been lovingly restored to a modern, well presented “mini” haven. A fully self-contained cabin with open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, king size bed in bedroom and a shower room and toilet. Ideal for a couple or two singles as a Z-bed can be provided. Private outside veranda with a fire pit.
Located in the High Weald area of Kent which is an Area Of Outstanding Beauty, The Cabin at Valley View Farm is set in its own space amongst 16 acres of wood and grazing. It used to be an old hop pickers mobile home but has been lovingly restored to a modern, well presented “mini” haven. Peaceful, quiet and isolated. Private veranda with a fire-pit and a small garden where you can watch the birdlife including woodpeckers. Catch the odd glimpse of the deer in the woods. All totally isolated. It is a perfect place for couples and singles to come and get away from busy lives and there is so much to do within easy reach there is not room to attempt to list them all here. Alternatively snuggle in and watch some DVD's and have some much needed down time. Some of the attractions are the harbour town of Rye, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Battle, Headcorn for the aerodrome and Maidstone. Too many NT and Heritage sites to list but you can easily get to Batemans, Scotney, Bodiam, Leeds and Sissinghurst Castles and Hole Park in Rolvenden which is privately owned and Great Dixter Manor and Gardens just down the road. Bedgebury Pinetum and Hempstead Woods offer fantastic walking opportunities and also cycling is a very popular hobby in the area, you can bring your own or hire one locally. There is the Bodiam Boating Centre a couple of miles away where you can take leisurely craft up to the Castle or hire a kayak and go up and down the river at a more leisurely pace. The East Sussex Vintage Steam Railway is to be found in another Cinque Port town of Tenterden which is only a 15 mins drive. The railway can take you on a 10 mile trip through the countryside and up to Bodiam. If the weather is on side Camber Sands is 30/40 minutes drive offering miles of golden coastline and Winchelsea not too far away. The village of Sandhurst is set amongst acres and acres of vineyards and hop fields. Luckily the end products can be tried and tested at nearly Chapel Down, Biddenden and Hush Heath Vineyards in Staplehurst. You also do not have to go far at all for plenty of great places to eat and drink including cafes, restaurants and old traditional country pubs. If the weather is inclement then nearby Hawkhurst (and Rye) offers a lovely boutique cinema, the Kino, where you can sit in small theatres and enjoy the latest films with a glass of wine and some sweet treats !. A fully self-contained cabin with open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area, king size bed in bedroom and a shower room and toilet. Ideal for a couple or two singles as a Z-bed can be provided. The Cabin is set on one level but it has steps up to it. Lounge area has a large sofa and an electric wood burner, a flat screen TV able to play on-demand Netflix, Amazon Prime (guest own account), catch-up TV with a built-in DVD (some DVDs supplied) and a DAB radio. Dining area with two chairs and a table. Bathroom has a shower, toilet, basin and heated towel rail. Wifi included. Decked veranda with Adirondak chairs where you can sit and have breakfas.t, bird spot and see the odd deer in the woods and the ponies in the fields beyond. There is a fire pit where you can roast marshmallows and sit out under a canopy of star on a clear night. There is also a small garden area with a picnic table. The veranda looks out onto the 8 acre wood. Stunning when the bluebells are out.
Our neighbourhood is very peaceful but you do not have to go far for a multitude of sites to see and places to eat and drink. Recommendations can be given.
  • Absolute relaxation is guaranteed. The cabin is spacious and designed to the highest standards. Every detail has been thought about from the living facilities, to kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with everything you could possibly need and more. We had an unexpected surprise on arrival due to change of circumstances and the host was totally accommodating. Looking out of the windows feels like being in the middle of a forest with nothing around but nature. We loved roasting marshmallows at night and beautiful walks in the day without having to use the car. I would definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone. Thanks so much Karen.

  • An amazing stay, in a great location making it a short drive to anywhere that you would want a day out. The Cleanliness and little touches inside the cabin make it all that much better after a long day out coming back to a very homely feel. Shops near by for anything that you may need as well as restaurants make it a great get away for whoever needs a peaceful break.

    Tarron2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I was working locally and found Karen and David’s property. It is serenely peaceful, beautifully equipped, clean and comfortable. My partner joined me for a few days and we couldn’t have been made more welcome, in fact leaving today was a little sad! We are already planning another trip.

    Helen2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful rural cabin surrounded by countryside and even a beautiful little private area of forest! The perfect way to escape for a break of relaxation in the middle of nature. Karen and David were wonderful hosts, always on hand to give advice and recommendations for local walks, cafes, restaurants etc. We would 100% recommend a visit to Lime Wharf cafe by the boating station which has amazing breakfasts and the best brownies ever! Karen and David have some wonderful animals, ponies and dogs, who were beautiful and very friendly, and we were lucky to be able to spend some time with them, and hearing their stories. Thank you Karen and David for a wonderful weekend!

  • Lovely, quiet place right on the doorstep of the forest. The nicest part of our stay was waking up in nature and listening to the birds on the veranda as the sun was going down. Cozy and well equipped little cabin. Perfect size for 2.

  • We spent a fantastic weekend at Jill’s place. The barn itself is beautifully finished with everything you could possibly need, but the real draw is the land... backing onto a vast plot complete with lakes and geese, our dog had never been happier! A superb retreat from the pace of life in London. Oh and Jill gave us afternoon tea on arrival with fresh bread every day! Was fantastic!

    Ricky2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • 5 star country retreat in every way. We arrived to freshly made bread, cream scones and the most amazing Victoria sponge cake. If that’s not enough the entire place smelt beautiful. The location, serenity and facilities are perfect. We loved it and left feeling restored and refreshed. Treat yourself!

  • A wonderful stay at the Oak Barn for a long weekend with family. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, cosy and picturesque, look no further. Jill made a great host, providing tea and homemake cake on our arrival. The bedrooms are spacious, beds are huge and comfy. The lounge and kitchen areas are perfect for unwinding with friends & family with everything needed to look after yourselves during your stay. The grounds however are the ultimate plus for your stay, surrounded by acres of fields, trees and lakes to explore - a perfect backdrop. I loved the indoor log burner and outdoor fire pit, perfect for relaxing in the evening or on cold days. Thank you once again, Jill - Certainly looking forward to coming back in the future.

Robertsbridge Cabin is conveniently located on Robertsbridge High Street, with its own private access. There is a large double bedroom with a cosy Chesterfield arm chair, plenty of storage and tea and coffee making facilities. Guests always comment on how comfy the bed is! Adjacent to the bedroom is a separate modern bathroom, complete with underfloor heating and complimentary toiletries. Fluffy robes add to the comfort! Private patio area, where you can enjoy star gazing or even a BBQ!
Situated just off the high street, this is a log cabin style property, with a modern bathroom and comfortable bedroom.

  • Rebecca’s cabin is absolutely gorgeous! Tucked away off the high street we followed the fairy lights up to the cabin with Rebecca who showed us the space and gave us some tips on the area. This is a great spot for walking around the beautiful area and we loved it lots! Good sized space with tea and biscuits (super important!) and a good sized bathroom too! Also super cosy, just what we needed! Highly recommend!

  • Really lovely place to rest your head! Excellent personal touches!

    Nicola2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca saved me in an emergency when I found myself too far from home to get back at the end of a work trip. She responded to my request within an hour, prepped the lodge and heated it, and it was ready for me within three hours of my first enquiry - if not two! It's plain and simple, but stylish - and the chair and generous bed are both incredibly comfortable. The shower room is unexpected - completely luxurious (especially given the situation at the top of a network of gardens), with strong shower, lovely towels, underfloor heating plus heated rail. Essential toiletries, tea and coffee (and chocolate biscuits!) are laid on - and I needed those! The night I stayed there was yet another storm, and the rain pounded on the roof and chunks of tree were thrown about by the wind - but it was still warm inside, and the verandah turned out to be really sheltered, so even going to the loo in a storm was no hardship. It's a great place to stay, and Rebecca is just amazing. Thank you!

Bourne Farm Oasthouse is surrounded by hundreds of acres of farmland. You’ll love the Oast because of the comfy beds, the cozy interior and layout of the main living area, the light, the serenity, the solitude. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). Four Poster in Master Bedroom. Pair Swedish XL twin beds in Bedroom 2 Twin beds on the platform accessed via ladder (rec 8yrs+ up there) Although the 2 bathrooms are not en suite they sit within central roundel
Let me know your planned ETA and I can leave appropriate goodies inside the oast to welcome you on arrival. If you're travelling from afar perhaps you'd like a home cooked meal ready to gobble up cooked and waiting in the oven for you? Or perhaps you'd rather have your first mornings breakfast ingredients left in the fridge? LMK and anything can be arranged.
We are the last of 4 houses down the (initially unmade) concrete rutted track and all you can hear is the rustling of the trees, wildlife calling and the early morning dawn chorus. Not forgetting the welcoming bray in winter time as you get out of the car.
  • What a magical little find this Oast House truly is. Alexis is the perfect host, attentive and prompt in responding to all my queries, yet giving you privacy during your stay. The accommodation is very cosy, with plenty of thoughtful touches throughout. We enjoyed all the board games and the DVD collection, kindly left for you to enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need, but plenty of great pub recommendations too - if you don’t fancy cooking. The beds were so comfortable and it’s extremely peaceful at night, with nothing around you for miles. We loved stargazing on our first evening - on the little balcony as you enter the Oast. Our boys also loved the donkeys and Alexis’s friendly dogs. We would highly recommend a stay here. A lovely rural get-away, with an equally lovely kind host.

  • An amazing place to spend a few days taking in the country air and attractions. A beautifully renovated and designed historical building with superb views outside and plenty of space inside with a great communal eating / dining / area. Great for walkers / ramblers / dogs as there are no less that 4 footpaths right on the doorstep. For us it was the perfect choice for 4 old friends to get together and spend quality time doing nothing much at all. Bliss!

We recently converted an outbuilding into a two bedroom house. The house is detached and purpose built. We aimed to create a space that was bright, airy and incorporated the gorgeous woodland and farmland around us. When you stay with us you can expect to be in a peaceful rural setting with stunning views which can be admired from either the patio or through the large bifold doors leading from the main living area.
The downstairs has a lovely open plan kitchen and sitting room with oak beams throughout. The upstairs has a large double and a twin room, with window seats, and a stunning apex window offering fabulous views across the Kentish countryside. The shower room is also located upstairs. Each bedroom has cotton linen, quality mattresses and Egyptian cotton towels. A travel cot and clip on highchair are available for smaller visitors. Downstairs the well equipped kitchen has everything you would need to cook up a feast. The cottage has Wi-Fi and Free View television and a washer dryer.
We are lucky to live on the fringes of the beautiful village of Benenden which is set in the heart of the Weald of Kent. We live a short walk away from Hemsted forest so you have country walks from the doorstep, a lively local village pub (2 minutes drive down the road) serving good pub grub, a little village shop and cafe as well as a butchers. Other attractions are a short drive away such as the gorgeous Sissinghurst castle with its stunning gardens (5 minutes by car), Bewl Water, Biddenden Vinyards and Chapel Down Vineyards (7 and 20 minutes respectively), Bodiam boating Station for canoeing (15 minutes max) and Bodiam castle (15 Minutes) to name a few. We are also located very near the coast so it would only take 30 minutes to get to Camber sands, Winchelsea beach and Rye Harbour.in
  • We stayed at Charlotte’s place for a long weekend in March. The cottage is the perfect little country retreat, family friendly and very well located for Rye and nearby attractions such as Sissinghurst Castle gardens. Fully equipped for kids with high chair, travel cot and boxes of toys. Set in idyllic Kent countryside. Would highly recommend!

  • A very peaceful woodland retreat. Charlotte was very welcoming, quick to communicate. The cottage was spotless, stylish, cosy and very comfortable for the two of us. The views are what made me decide to book the cottage and they didn't disappoint. Would recommend.

  • A super clean, well equipped, lovely place to stay.

    Lucy2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Charlottes place is exactly as described with the addition of being more spacious than that suggests. Perhaps with a slight exception of the bathroom which if you’re 6 foot five like me was possibly a little challenging in the shower department! Having said that everything else was great, super comfy beds beautiful views local tips and suggestions in the folder which Charlotte left were absolutely spot-on and it’s a great part of England to enjoy exploring from a superclean,Cosy and stylish space. We were travelling with our two-year-old and five-year-old and they enjoyed the books and Lego that were in the van, and the views were tickly in the morning at the sunrise were beautiful and we would really recommend to eat the white dog and lots of attractions nearby. Would highly recommend!

  • Great place to escape London for a relaxing break! We even managed a couple of nice long hikes in the surrounding area :)

  • What a place to stay!! Stylish place, very nice touches like fresh daffodills :) Enjoyed staying at Cabin a lot! Catherine is very nice host, gave us some breakfast essentials. When you lay in the double bed upstairs you can admire stars in the sky, also chest of drawers have decorative knobs :) Towels very very soft, enjoyed every moment of our stay. Would highly recommend!

  • Stayed over a long weekend for two nights and it was such a relief and stress free experience especially if you come from the city. Easily accessible though a car or taxi would be needed. We went for dinner st the Milk House pub which was terrific less than 10 minutes away driving. We also went to the Hush Heath Vineyard which was an amazing and tasteful experience less than 20 minutes driving. On a clear night you can see the stars laying from the bed due to the sky lights. We decided to cook one of the other nights and the kitchen has everything you could need for doing that! All in all a pleasant stay in the Kent countryside which may surprise you.

Catherine has done a lovely job of making the place comfortable and welcoming and has added some lovely touches like fresh bread and eggs from her chickens. We love it here, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place to anyone looking for a quiet relaxing break from the madness of daily life.

The place was really well designed and set up. The hosts were very considerate and welcoming. The location was perfect. We were hoping to walk a lot but it rained a bit while we were there so we stayed in and really enjoyed the cosy feel too.

  • We came here for a cosy, lazy, country weekend to get out of London and it was absolutely perfect! Such a beautiful part of the country, the hut itself was beautiful and clean with lovely little touches and the jam in the fridge was to die for. Our hosts were great as we turned up later than expected. Would definitely stay again! Thanks so much Charlotte

  • A very pretty little shepherds hut in an amazingly picturesque part of the Kent countryside. Hosts went above and beyond with prior advice, and extras such as nespresso caps and wine. Couldn’t ask for more and definitely recommend

  • The foxy shepard’s hut is an idyllic tiny house in the beautiful countryside of Kent. Everything we needed and more was provided for: from fresh flowers to bath robes, from a BBQ to complementary wine. While it is situated in a (very large) garden, we still had enough privacy. The wonderful hosts, Cathy and Ian, served us warm croissants and fresh fruit in the morning which made it feel like more like a B&B than a airBnB-experience. The hut is ideally located to visit some of the world’s most beautiful gardens: Great Dixter, Sissinghurst. Highly recommended!

  • Great little place perfect for a rural retreat. We stayed 24-26 December, Sharon greeted us & was really helpful & friendly. The welcome pack with tea, coffee, eggs, bread, butter, milk and home made cake is great, there was even a Christmas tree in the lounge & some decorations outside making it feel festive too. The cottage has all you need for a break away, it's clean with great kitchen & bathroom facilities. There's even an out door seating area with bbq but wrong time of year for its you take advantage. Would recommend and consider returning again or staying at one of Sharon's other properties as I'm sure they will all be of the same high standards.

  • This place is perfect for a getaway. It was SPOTLESSLY clean, how do you get the oven so sparkly?! There were some lovely touches even fresh flowers. It's perfect walking country and wonderful views over the countryside. Milk, bread, butter and eggs were provided and apart from the food we were going to eat, we didn't need to take anything. Lots of interesting places to visit nearby either on foot or in the car. We stayed in 4 Coopers Cottages which has 1 bedroom but is very roomy. Lovely patio area outside where we had breakfast and dinner listening to the birds and just taking in the view. Honestly it was just perfect and we would highly recommend it.

More professional photography coming soon! Inkpen Cottage is a charming, detached Grade II listed red brick building originally thought to have been a farmworker’s cottage. You’ll find it tucked away on Strawberry Hill Farm, where the owners are working towards developing a self-sufficient lifestyle. There’s plenty to see on the farm itself, including a vegetable garden, fruit trees, a poly tunnel and geese and chickens, not to mention the odd pig or two! Recently renovated, the cottage has been refurbished to a high standard. The attractive, locally-made clay tile flooring has underfloor heating throughout, while the open-plan sitting room and kitchen benefits from a wood burning stove with French doors leading out to the private garden. The garden has wonderful views of the East Sussex countryside. In one corner, you’ll find a copse with a hammock and hot tub, perfect for relaxing after a day out exploring. The cottage is situated in the High Weald, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with ancient woodlands, iron workings and meadows teeming with wildlife. With many beautiful villages and towns nearby to explore including Battle, Rye, Burwash and Tenterden and the south coast is a short drive from the cottage. This holiday at a glance Sleeps two guests. Bedroom with 5' king size bed. Shower room. Open-plan kitchen and sitting room. Wood burning stove. Enclosed garden. WiFi. Gravel parking area. Sorry, no children or dogs. Minimum two night stay. Additional features Electric oven and hob. Fridge with freezer compartment. Microwave. Dishwasher. Cable television. Sonos speaker. Hammock. Hot tub. Garden furniture. Attractions and nearby amenities Cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, historic buildings, Rye is a delightful place to visit at any time of year. You’ll find lots of independent shops and cafes nestled amongst the narrow medieval lanes and passageways like Mermaid Street. St. Mary’s church tower is normally open to the public, from where you can enjoy a magical view of the houses and streets below. Camber Sands has to be seen to be believed. The beach here is vast, with a backdrop of magnificent sand dunes. People say that the best end of the beach is towards the west, where the River Rother meets the sea. If you like your history good and ancient, a visit to the town of Battle will take you back to 1066. Re-enactments of the battle are held regularly and there are arts and music festivals throughout the year. The medieval abbey is worth a visit too. Bateman’s was the last home of Rudyard Kipling, whose widow left it to the National Trust. This 17th century Jacobean house has a moat and a beautiful romantic garden too. The house is laid out as it would have been in the Kipling family’s day. Bodiam Castle is another National Trust property, also complete with its own moat. This dates back a lot longer, to the 14th century, when it was built by a knight of Edward III. The interior is now a ruin, but the exterior looks just how you’d want a castle to be. Sissinghurst Castle is famous for the garden created by Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicholson. The couple created a series of separate garden rooms, including the Rose Garden and the White Garden, with its wonderful monochromatic colour scheme. If you’re an art lover, you’ll want to visit Hastings. The town is home to Hastings Contemporary, a vibrant centre of the contemporary arts that’s just a few steps from the beach, while White Rock Theatre hosts everything from rock concerts to panto. If opera is more your thing, don’t forget about Glyndebourne, where the Festival Opera is held every summer. For additional inspiration on what to do within the area, please click here.
  • Absolutely perfect country getaway! Beautifully decorated, warm and cosy, many thoughtful touches, delightful hot tub and fireplace, comfy bed and gorgeous bathroom. Couldn't wish for more.

  • This is one of the loveliest Air Bnbs we have ever stayed in. The cottage is beautifully put together, with everything you could need for a relaxing countryside stay. It is very cosy, especially with the log fire on in the evening. Will definitely visit again!

  • Julie's place was just fabulous! Warm, cosy and stylish. Julie and Mike made us feel so welcome. We would definitely recommend.

  • The best birthday weekend ever!! From the moment we arrived it was so relaxed and so calm. We were greeted by Julie and Mark and they are so warm and welcoming. Julie showed us around the cottage and we were so so impressed! The little touches were amazing and the place was so clean and so gorgeous. The fire was all ready and the under floor heating made the whole place very warm and homely. Instructions for walking to Bodiam castle were more than accurate and we got there without taking one wrong turn. I would recommend the walk as we saw so much of the local nature and felt lovely to breath in the fresh air. We would recommend the Bodiam castle tea room especially the Victoria sponge cake. We will definitely be returning 2 days is just not enough. Thanks for a lovely relaxing stay

  • Julie was such a great host. She contacted me before arrival to let me know the checking in process and was really helpful in suggesting some eateries locally. The house is beautiful and spotless. It was the little touches that made it so special, everything had been thought of and the bread and jams/milk etc were a lovely addition. I loved hearing the owls in the garden at night and the whole area is special. We will be returning this summer. Thank you.

    Sharon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful apartment that happens to be both cosy and spacious, traditional and contemporary. Lovely touches from the hosts with a glass each of G&T and breakfast bits.. well worth a lovely getaway and with great towns and places to visit all within half an hours drive.. very attentive hosts

    Bruce2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cowbeach cottage was lovely. So much better than we expected it to be. The cottage has been renovated to such a high standard. Everything was perfect.

    Luke & Isabella2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Julie and Mark are fantastic hosts - very friendly and welcoming, and they have done such an amazing job with the cottage. Although we had terrible weather during our visit, it was the perfect place to stay in and keep cosy by the log burner. Julie and Mark added lots of thoughtful touches which meant that we felt at home straight away. Bodiam Castle was a short drive away and a great place to visit (despite the rain!) - if we come again we would love to do the walk to Bodiam next time. We definitely hope to return in the warmer months!

    Sophie2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous hosts, impossibly high standards which makes it an addictive location - hosts have even organised a Waitrose within a 5 minutes drive... Lovely countryside, walks and places to visit. Plenty of local pubs with great grub. Tranquility. Warmth. A good night's sleep ensured. 11/10 Ian & Triona

  • Lovely place. A lot Of thoughtful details. For example dog treats for our dogs. Trisha is lovely. If we can give travellers a tip I would suggest for people travelling to this area is to book your table for dinner if you would like to go local. Over the 3 nights satay we could find a table for lunch or dinner and ended up with take away from rye or Hastings. Lovely brewery -great beer and lovely atmosphere within a short distance from the cottage.

    Roxana2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Trisha’s apartment was absolutely wonderful! Sparkling clean and very, very stylish. Everything was exactly as expected and I loved my stay :)

  • Trisha’s place was perfect. Very clean, comfortable and full of thoughtful touches. The studio was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We would defiantly recommend and hope to come back again. Thank you, Trisha

    Hannah2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful studio accommodation in the lovely grounds of Trisha’s countryside home. Shame the weather meant we couldn’t use the fire pit outside but that didn’t matter. Place was clean, tidy and loved the pastries and cereals for breakfast. Great spot for exploring Rye Bay, close to a super pub (the red lion) and near to a few National Trust properties such as Bateman’s. Recommended for a country getaway.

Countryside walks from your doorstep across beautiful fields and footpaths!
  • This barn is great. Very comfortable and clean with plenty of fun things to do nearby. Highly recommend.

    Sarah2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • The barn was perfect for us and our young kids (6&4). It's set in beautiful countryside and has everything you might need. A well set-up kitchen, 2 x clean bathrooms and a large lounge area with board games, DVD's and our kids loved running around the tennis court. Maybe it's because we live in London, but the view of the stars through the velux windows was magical! We ate at the 'Queen's Inn' and the 'Old House' in Hawkhurst, both of which were very welcoming to the kids. Also went for brunch at the 'lime wharf cafe' which we would recommend. It's a great base to explore the Kent countryside.

    Adam2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a really lovely quiet spot. Beautifully clean. Spacious upstairs lounge, well equipped kitchen. We really appreciated the coffee machine. Highly recommended.

    Pamela2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice accommodation, clean and well presented.

    Si2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a week with our offspring (age 10, 10 and 13) at the barn. It was a wonderful experience especially for the children whose first visit to England this was. The stay exceeded our expectations. Elise was perfect in providing all necessary instructions before we knew we'd be needing them. We met a clean, cosy, quiet and well equipped retreat in the Kent countryside. Day trips took us to London, Battle Abbey, Beachy Head but we also explored Sandhurst, Tenterden and Bodiam Castle. Many brochures we available and also Elise helped a lot. The evenings allowed for family fun on the tennis court and the one or other board game. Lastly, the weather was really great for English summer.

  • Wow! Myself and my boyfriend had such an amazing stay at Barefoot in the Woods and couldn't recommend it more to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing retreat. It was everything we wanted and MORE! A cosy, well kitted out tent (which felt more like a little studio apartment), with a roaring fire, amazing views and lovely bath. We loved waking up in the morning and doing yoga on the decking looking out onto the stunning views, then cosying up by the fire each evening. We will 100% be returning and can't thank Julia enough for a much-needed break!

    Katie2020-03-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very unusual tent in an idyllic setting. The bed was so comfy, the bath water so hot and the wood burner kept me entertained all week end. I would happily go back, but at a drier time as our walk in the field/forest was one of the muddiest I’ve done ;-)

    Frederic2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing stay in a scenic, secluded spot. Sitting out on the deck looking at the excellent view, watching the light fade and getting a fire going was lovely. Julia is a friendly and accommodating host, who quickly responded to questions but otherwise left us to our own devices. Late checkout on Sunday made the weekend feel much longer! Clean, stylish and quirky space, great for a break that's a bit different to the norm.

    Tim2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Julia's tent is a dream. It combines the best things of both sides – you can hear the rain and wind like in a normal tent, but then take a hot bath while listening to it. Julia was very helpful and welcoming too, highly recommended!

    Carolin2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute GEM of a place. The scenery alone is stunning, then add in the cosy, romantic (I think ideal for couples) spot in the woods and all the gorgeous finishing touches and you have yourself a truly perfect weekend. If you're on the fence... get off it. You will NOT regret booking barefoot in the woods and when the weekend is over, you'll rave about it to all your friends! The weather wasn't great when we were there but it made it all the more cosy. The fire never went out and we enjoyed doing all the camping-related fun bits without the actual camping <3

    Sophie2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Julies place is amazing! We were there when storm Dennis was on and it was still really cosy, warm and comfortable! The wood burning fire is amazing and the views are stunning. The bed is so comfy too! Would definitely recommend and be back!!

    Jess2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderfully relaxing weekend at Julia’s safari tent. She was a great host. In the midst of a cold rainy November I did question the logic of my booking a tent for the weekend as we were driving down... but it was just so cosy and warm sitting in front of the log burner, watching the fire and listening to rain on the tent. A really relaxing weekend, keen to stay again! Rye is a lovely town to visit too, lots of beautiful, historic, cobbled streets. Plenty of great cafes, and just 10 minutes away.

    Art2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing experience and lovely hospitality from Julia! Could not have stayed in a better place for a relaxing and peaceful (yet quirky) retreat into the woods! The pictures do not do the tent justice, it feels very spacious and has lots of thoughtful touches inside including ample supplies of wood, candles and local walks. Despite staying here in November the wood burner kept us nice and toasty and the bath was great after a long days walking. Could not recommend this any more if you are looking for a peaceful getaway, whilst having lots of places to go for day trips!

Wonderful host Monique, she greeted us at her front door and once we were inside you can appreciate the detail she has gone to for making your stay the best possible experience. The bed was super comfy and the continental style breakfast that Sue and Alan provide was a really nice touch...the fresh local bread is delicious. The Bull pub next door is lovely, we only had a drink in there but the food is supposed to be good too and the local area has lots of sights to see, including some excellent Kent wineries. Thanks Sue and Alan for a lovely stay!

  • The Summer House is very private, clean and every detail has been thought out. Alan was a very friendly and helpful host. I didn’t meet Sue but she left a welcome note and was quick to communicate on Airbnb. It is in the centre of the village with the very popular local pub and community stores/cafe a short walk away. A very relaxing stay and I was even allowed a late check-out which was incredibly helpful.

We have renovated the whole house and guest room two years ago. The new guest room has its own entry through the main garden gate, powerful rainforest shower in the stone-tiled private shower . We are located in beautiful Cranbrook, close to lots of National Trust sites : 5 minutes drive to Sissinghurst Castle Garden, 20 minutes to Bodium Castle and Scotney Castle, 25 minutes to the Batemans. An ideal place if you are visiting Benenden, Tenterden, Ashford and Tunbridge well.
The garden ensuite is located on the ground floor, while other bed rooms in the house are on the first floor, therefore guests have their own quite floor in the night. It has its own entrance to garden and drive way, perfect independent space in the house.
Cranbrook is the historical trading town, nowadays is the town full of good schools, very close to lots of national trust sites and the famous high weald trail. If you like nature, history, hiking, biking, animals, castles, beaches, then Cranbrook is the perfect place to stay !
  • This place is very clean. The host tidies the room every day. We also enjoyed our privacy, as there was a separate entrance. I would have loved it even more if I had had a table, 2 chairs, a microwave, and a fridge. It was slightly awkward to close/open the gate. Nonetheless, we are grateful that Melody provided us with simple breakfast the night before. Would come back!

  • Excellent facilities, exceptionally clean and well maintained. Melody is a great Hostess 5*

  • The private room is the guest house of Melody's family home, which I found to be very cosy. The property is on a winding country road. Melody was very thoughtful in her approach to accommodating me and helped me explore Sissinghurst Castle gardens by giving me a lift there as well as advising me on local trails/ walks. I had the pleasure of meeting her sons briefly too. Overall a very good hospitality experience.

My home is on a quiet rural lane. Parking is on the lane but safe. The south facing guest room overlooks my garden at the back, and fields at the front. The cottage is light but cosy. It's perfect to relax here in all seasons. Sadly, not suitable for wheelchair access. Convenient for visiting the historic towns of Rye, Winchelsea, Hastings, Tenterden, Great Dixter Gardens and Bodiam Castle. I'm a chef/local food tour guide so happy for you to pre-book these services too!
Your bedroom has been reently refurbished, with a spacious ensuite shower room, with comfort height toilet. The bed is comfortable -there is a small armchair and stool, and there is space to comfortably put 1 large suitcase, and 1 small suitcase in the room (or 2 small and 2 med cabin size bags). You are welcome to use the facilities set up for you in the utility room anytime to make hot drinks, heat a meal in the microwave, and assemble breakfast with items I will leave for you. The Garden Room is a lovely breakfast room, and you may also eat a take-away ( Fish and Chips :) ) in here too. Ofcourse, if you'd like to pre-book a meal cooked by me, I am very happy to do this. I respectfully ask - NO eating or drinking (other than water of course!) in the bedroom. This just helps keep the room clean for all users. I provide 6-8 clothes hangers, but if you'd like more, please just ask me. This is my home. I have a pretty busy life and enjoy a good social life. The house is cosy, but I am respectful of my guests privacy. Usually my guests respect mine, and we all have a happy time!
There are wonderful walks and cycle rides from the house, tourist attractions and places to eat and drink nearby. Within 5-10 min walk, there's a cafe called Will's, a Fish and Chip shop, and a village shop for groceries and newspaters etc.!! There's a great pub The White Dog ( best to call for reservation if you'd like to eat) in Ewhurst Green ( 5 mins drive, 20 min cycle, 1 hour walk). An Indian restaurant is 1 mile from the village towards the Kent and Sussex Steam Train station.
  • Wonderful host with the cleanest space to stay in the midst of Northiam right near the Dixter! If you get to meet Whizz, Sarah’s pup, you’re in luck! She’s adorable! Great house with perfect amenities if you’re in need!!

Little Hop Bine has main living room with a very comfortable vi-spring super-king bed, dining table and seating area with television and wifi. Comfortably furnished throughout and with French windows leading out to own terrace and garden. You have own en-suite bathroom with generous shower, and a compact well equipped kitchen complete with dishwasher. Also a delightful Granary sitting room with a second television and CD/record player and a west facing sun terrace for a relaxing sun downer.
We have a small estate of 40 acres hidden in a valley classified as an AONB (Area of outstanding natural beauty), so lovely countryside. We have planted over 20,000 mixed broadleaf trees over the last 30 years and we also have over 12 acres of lakes for you to stroll around, very relaxing. You’ll love Waters End. Great for couples and solo adventurers, plenty to do and see in the area or just chill out. Perfect for exploring both Kent and Sussex, and an enormous amount of National Trust properties to visit, Great Dixter and Sissinghurst Gardens are only 12 minutes drive away.
We have a small private estate in a beautiful secret valley with over 12 acres of lakes and plethora of National Trust around us. • Wonderful experience staying at Jill's accommodation. The place was lovely and cosy with excellent facilities. We were greeted with homemade cake and scones which was a lovely touch and really enjoyed a stroll with our dog around the lakes. There are some many beautiful places to visit in near reach with some lovely pubs nearby.
