Amazing accommodation for what you pay! The photos are a bit misleading however it is a great base from which to explore Black River National Park and the surrounding area. Nitisha is an awesome host, great hospitality!

Si vous voulez être immergé dans la culture mauricienne, c'est l'endroit idéal! Pas grand chose à faire à pieds depuis l'hébergement mais des hôtes incroyables qui vous reçoivent avec générosité vous font découvrir la gastronomie mauricienne et les bons cocktails! Grande chambre dans un studio à part avec grand salon, grande cuisine. Parfait pour éviter les hôtels et clichés touristiques, et parfait pour aller découvrir le sud en voiture. Bref, super rencontre, super découvertes!

A very basic room at a very good price :) One drawback is that the room is getting really hot during the day, but apart from that the place offers anything you might need. The owners are really nice and welcoming, they can help you arrange trips to all kinds of attractions nearby.

It was a great place with a huge balcony! They had a huge kitchen that is well equipped. And as the previous comment states, you're near the beach, a botanical garden, Rochester waterfalls and suoermarkets. It's a small but quaint town. Jay and his wife were very friendly and immediately showed us around Souillac and offered to help us plan things out! I highly recommend the place

The parents of Lavi welcomed us with juice and gave us helpful tips for the next day. A supermarket and Gris Gris are not far away and reachable by feet. We also had dinner with the family, it was the best meal of our journey! First we booked two days but decided to stay two days longer. When we left, each of us got a fresh coconut from their garden.

The 3 days I spent at Shyama and Siam were so peaceful. They were so nice with me, and Shyama is such a great cook ! (thank you again for the roti recipe !). I would hardly recommand this place and I'll be glad to come back anytime.

I had some nice days in the house of Lavi, all clean and good. The mother of Lavi was very caring, the indian-inspired food great. Would always come back!!

We enjoyed our stay a lot! Communication with Lavi beforehand super easy and responsive. Lavi's Dad picked us up from the bus stop close by. Warm welcome with home made local bites and fruit from the garden. Very helping and nice chats. Her Mum prepared a delicious dinner for us. Spacious and well equipped room with terrace to relax. We had the best time at Stephanie's place. It's conveniently located, easily accessible & very safe. It's close to many visiting spots & just a few mins drive to the beach. It also has a fully functional kitchen & that was a life saver for us being vegetarian! There are a couple of supermarkets nearby where you can find everything you need to cook like in your home. The beaches here are pristine and so peaceful unlike the beaches in the north & west which are very crowded. You can find stretches of sand that are untouched and we had a time of our lives in those beaches. Having a car would be the most convenient option although the place is also conveniently located for using public transport if you prefer that. The village itself is quite big & you'll find a lot of eateries if you do not like cooking all the time. Best of all, it's just a few mins drive from many prominent places to visit. Stephanie & her family made us feel so welcome and treated us like family when we were there. It made our stay 100 times better. Special regards to Ricardo and Emily, who always had answers to all our questions with a smile and went out of their way to help us. That's something that we'll always have fond memories in this trip. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to have a great time in Mauritius. We had a marvelous stay in Chemin Grenier at the apartment from Stephanie! We've spend a week in the south of Mauritius. Stephanie (and all of her family) pays attention to detail - everything in the apartment is nicely decorated and clean. It is located less than 10-20 minutes away from the beach (by car or by walk). The city center of Chemin Grenier is close by, with a lot of local shops, restaurants and a big supermarket (Winners). The kitchen is very well equipped - so you can easily cook like at home. The "Check-In" process was quick and her family welcomed us very warm and showed us around, fluent in English. All of them very eager to help us. They have given us good advices where to go and what to see in the south. Here you get the real Mauritius to see, we would say. Better than to stay in a hotel. Superb! We would definitely come back again :) Thanks!

Our stay at Stephanies apartment was just great. Its very tasteful african-inspired furniture made us feel welcome right away. It was well equipped, clean and had a nice view over the sugar cane fields. Just a short walk takes you to the center of Chemin-Grenier with plenty opportunities to shop at the busy local markets and enjoy freshly made snacks like Indian roti. Stephanie was very helpful and a lovely host to us! She showed us around the city, gave us recommendations and explained the Mauritian lifestyle. Her family, living next door, was very friendly. They organised a rivertrekking adventure for us and were so kind to prepare some Mauritian food, which we really enjoyed. Thank you to the Evola family for making our stay a rememberable experience! The house is really comfortable and fully equipped with quality. In the kitchen there is all you need and more. Also perfect for a large family, three bedrooms all with air conditioning and a large outdoor space with BBQ area and a patio to eat. Excellent starting point for the Black River Gorg N.P., Le Morne and the southern beaches. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with a coconut juice freshly caught and fresh fruit, better than a resort! Precision and punctuality perfect.

We stayed for eight days at Villa Filao with our two children and had a great time. The house is far off the track and you are all by yourself, still there is everything you need (supermarket, ATM, gas station) within a 5-10 min drive. The garden is beautiful, the kitchen is well equipped and Sooraj was always there when we needed something! He also introduced us to his friend Baby, who ownes a lovely Restaurant up the street, where we went to for dinner a few times. The only thing that could be improved in the house is the mattresses - we found them to be very uncomfortable. But we're probably a bit spoilt... Thank you Geeta & Sooraj for this wonderful experience!

Le seul regret que nous avons eu est de ne pas avoir rencontré Geeta... En dehors de cela, c'est une ile magnifique, surinam est loin de tous les touristes et proche de tout, l accueil des locaux est tres chaleureux ( en particulier Baby), en conclusion: aucune ombre au tableau.

Fantastique semaine à la villa Filao ! Nous avions la chance de rencontrer Geeta, la propriétaire, qui est une personne attachante et chaleureuse. C’était comme passer les vacances chez une amie qu’on n’a pas vu depuis longtemps La maison est spacieuse et très bien équipée, même pour un long séjour. Elle est entourée d’un joli petit jardin. La villa est située entre le quartier populaire, authentiquement mauricien de Riambel et la mer, on y passe de vacances tranquilles. Au quotidien, vous pouvez toujours compter sur Sooraj, un homme très sympathique et efficace, qui s’occupe de la maison en absence de Geeta. Le centre du village est proche (300m) avec les buses, les restos, le marché, les commerces. La plage de Riambel est accessible à pieds en qq min (coucher de soleil !). Nombreuses possibilités de sorties dans le voisinage (Chamarel, Vanilla Park, très belle plage de Pomponette/St Felix etc.). Un peu plus loin Blue Bay (snorkeling), plage du Point d’Esny (superbe) et la Valée de Ferney (la nature). Très bon gite pour ceux qui veulent voir « la vrai Maurice » loin de tourisme de masse. Et quel acceuil … Grand Merci!

Nous avons séjourner chez Geeta du 15 au 24 Janvier 2017 et nous avons passer des vacances inoubliables. Le contact avec Geeta était très sympatique et les conseils qu'elle nous as données avant notre voyage ont été très précieux ! Sur place, nous avons eu le plaisir de rencontrer Sooraj qui est d'une gentilesse incroyable et qui as su rendre notre séjour encore plus simple et plus confortable, on peux se fier à lui les yeux fermés, c'est maintenant un ami avec qui nous espérons garder contact ! En + de Sooraj, nous avons eu le plaisir de faire la connaissance de son ami " Baby " qui tient un restaurant à Riambel, nous conseillons d'y aller, on y mange très bien et l'accueil y est parfait ! Faire un tour aussi à la boutique de Brinda juste à côté, elle est adorable et ses produits sont très beaux et peu chère. Le logement est impeccable, très bien aménager et situé dans un coin très calme. L'Ile Maurice est magnifique, nous avons eu l'opportunité, grace à la voiture que nous as loué Sooraj à un très bon prix, de visiter les 4 coins de l'ile, tout est vraiment magnifique et les Mauriciens dans leur ensemble sont très gentils et accueillants ! Nous avons tellement aimer notre séjour que nous envisageons de revenir sur l'ile dès que possible et ce sera chez Geeta à Riambel sans hésiter !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comme à la maison! On a finit par se sentir comme en famille après les 8 jours passés sur l'île. JP (le propriétaire) fera pour vous tout ce qu'il pourra pour vous venir en aide, parlera et vous posera toute sorte de questions, pendant que Marie (sa femme) vous régalera de sa cuisine. Ils ont était très arrangent, pour que l'on ce sente au mieux. Les 2 chambres dont ils disposent sont sobres et très correctes. Le village de Soillac dispose d'un bon réseau de bus mais son animation et sa plage ne font pas le renommé de l'île. La route principale (avec pas mal de circulation) rende les lieux un peux moins paisible ce qu'on le voudrais lors de nos vacances à Maurice.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis par JP et sa famille. JP nous fait sentir chez nous. Demander et vous recevrez. Ambiance conviviale et familiale. JP travaille avec le coeur et ne fait pas dans le business touristique. Il a toujours une petite attention et nous a bien rendu service en nous amenant à la gare. Sa femme est plus discrète mais nous a régalé. Merci à cette famille. Il représente la raison pour laquelle nous voyageons avec air bnb !

JP est à nos petits soins , vient nous chercher avec sa voiture et n'hésite pas à nous faire plaisir pour nous emmener découvrir les alentours. Marie nous prépare de bons petits plats typiques. Toute cela dans une ambiance familiale et chaleureuse.

We had a lovely time at Helene's studio. There is a wonderful swimming pool that our children loved. Perfect for cooling down in the hot weather. A fifty meter walk down the garden gets you to the beach which is very beautiful. Not great for swimming right there because of urchins but fantastically beautiful for walking on and not crowded at all. A ten or twenty minute walk to the left gets you to a swimming beach and walking to the right will also get you to a good swimming spot. Helene was very kind to us, giving us lifts to the shops and also giving us salads and fresh coconuts. Riambel is a beautiful part of the island and we'd live to go back there.

A very large and clean apartment for the price. Close to a lovely beach but we recommend having a car. Take ear plugs as the road is noisy as are the birds on the tin roof.

Everything was great, Hélène was a wonderful host, she also made dinner for us and prepared breakfast (two weeks in Mauritius and her is still the best fish curry we had). She gave us lots of tips on what to see and where to eat, she doesn't just share her residence but also her Mauritius The studio is quite big, it would easily fit at least 2 more people I'd say. It's really close to a super quiet beach (you go through her garden and Voilà), to swim you have to walk a little bit, but it's a really nice walk on a very nice beach. Also we arrived very unprepared for mosquitoes and she helped us out, which was super appreciated thank you again Hélène!

Helene and Adrien were fantastic hosts. The flat is huge, well equipped, pretty and super clean. The flat is easy to find and directly at the beach.The communication was convenient, we felt very welcome there. Best choice to stay for discovering the south.

The last message I wrote to Hélène before leaving home was: we're looking forward to peace and quiet. That's what we had in mind when we rented this cottage. And indeed, the cottage is charmingly decorated with some beautiful paintings by local artist Rirettte Faron. It is adequately equipped (but no hot water at the sink). The landlady knows how to make you feel welcome and was so friendly to lend us her electric juicer so we could have fresh orange juice every morning. Our first night, however, turned out to be quite an ordeal. Around 6pm some kind of chanting started coming from the fields in front of the cottage. It says côté plage, but that simply turns out to indicate that the house is situated that side of the road, the beach being some hundred metres deeper down behind the landlady's house, so no gentle sounds of the waves in your ear in this cottage. Quite the contrary, it's straight onto a busy road. The porch looks charming, but no one would ever dream of sitting on it for some reading for example, except if you enjoy watching the trucks, buses and motorcycles hasten by. The piercing chants turned into quite heavy bass beats, still coming from the fields in front of the cottage and lasted till well after three (when we took out our earplugs to check). Turns out there is a Wedding Hall there. I was happily surprised that the landlord was going to call the police to complain and he did so twice, but of course nothing happened. It was like having a room above a pub or next to a karaoke bar. For comparison, the hotel near the airport was a lot quieter. We were told this could happen over weekends maybe, but people don't marry only during the weekend, and Monday there were festivities alike. Hélène was very understanding and emotional and did all she could from her perspective, and it's true this noise does not come from her premises, but the sad thing is that this wedding hall may well kill her business.

We arrived after sun-set in Mauritius, tire and anxious having traversed the first two of the three legs of our journey from Boston, to South Africa to Madagascar and finally on to Mauritius. As we exited Customs we were met by Aksu and the driver he arranged for us. This was important because we never would have found "Home Sweet Home" on our own in the dark. It was more like a homecoming than an AirBNB rental. Aksu's wife had warm samosas waiting for us and with balmy breezes drifting around us Aksu explained the workings of an absolutely magnificent apartment. After a nights rest Aksu brought breakfast and afterwards we met our driver and we were off to begin to explore the island. After a great day of touring, we returned in time to join Aksu and Sam, a beautiful golden lab for a walk down to the beach...and some refreshment on the way back at a small local restaurant. While we were there Aksu made arrangements for my wife and I to have dinner (URL HIDDEN) was fantastic, and I would highly recommend it! Over all we could not have had a better host. Aksu watched over us but never intruded and we had some wonderful conversations ranging from conservation to politics to science. Recep picked us up close to his home because in the first moment it might be a little bit complicated to get there. But when we arrived we felt so comfortable from the first moment and very much enjoyed the really sympathic ambience and our host. The house is situated away from the main road in a charming rustic location surrounded by other villagers and their domestic animals. Surinam village centre is a short drive up the lane. Given the surroundings, the home is a revelation-a sophisticated Parisian decor! Beautiful objects, original artworks, books, arranged with taste, utter cleanliness and comfort. We stayed only one night as we were travelling around the island and it was the end of our holiday. Mr Aksu was very attentive.

Aksu and his wife were really nice and lovely people. They gave us all the advice on trips and beaches Tha appartment is very spaceous and neat. A wonderful place!

Aksu is a kind, generous and accommodating host. We had a great time in Riambel and can only recommend to stay with Aksu and Marie. The apt is constructed and decorated beautifully. It is well equipped and only a mere 8 minutes waking distance from the beautiful wild beach. We were accommodated very last minute after out planned booking didn't work out and even though we arrived very late, Aksu welcomed us with yummy Samosas made by his wife. His breakfast was equally good and it was nice not to have to go shop early in the morning after having arrived late the previous night. We recommend renting a car to get around in this slightly remote area, it helped us a great deal. Do be aware though, that the place is not so easy to be found. Get directions in advance and try to arrive during daytime. The Mauritians are very friendly though and with a little asking around, we found the place, even in the dark. Big thumbs up!

Great place, very spacious and well equipped, nice balcony. Close to the great Gris-Gris beach, supermarket, restaurants, bus stop and Saint Aubin rummery where Bigfoot company resides and offers full day quad trips (2 persons) which is the best option to see the south of the island, 50km trip offers seeing many waterfalls, ocean shore (clifs) and many great places including free lunch (best we ever had) on the top of south part of the island with great view and a park. Fast wi-fi, no mosquitos and most importantly, Jay and his wife are very nice, helpful and funny people, Jay also gave us a ride to the park and many other places so you may rely on him if you don't know what to see, best vacation ever! Nous nous sommes bien évidemment perdues en arrivant à Maurice, mais Jay et Mantha (les parents de Jakub) ont été patients, nous ont guidés et très bien accueillies une fois arrivées à bon port. Nous avons passé une semaine " comme à la maison" et avons beaucoup apprécié leur spontanéité et leur sourire . Si je vais à nouveauà Maurice je passerai forcément par Souillac !merci beaucoup pour les mines exceptionnelles et le briani tellement énorme !!!!

Dream house in the calm and authentic south. Stephanie and Gyan made us feel like at home taking care of any desire being it cooking, grocery shopping, arranging excursions, etc. House is very spacious and the pool is clean and big. View from the terrace over the garden and sea is breathtaking. We will for sure return next time when in Mauritius.

Fantastic stay at Villa Philibert, its the most amazing place with 3 lovely bedrooms, a large kitchen, comfortable living room and a great poolside seating and dining area. The swimming pool is clean and spacious and the gardens beautifully kept. The location on the less developed south coast is great, with a number of good local restaurants nearby plus easy access to smaller shops for everything you need. The best thing about our stay was the wonderful welcome and ongoing care of housekeeper Gyan and housemaid Stephanie. They really made us feel at home and looked after us very well. I fully recommend Stephanie's cooking, its wonderful and very good value! We also made use of the babysitting service on a couple of days, meaning that we could spend some time exploring while our children enjoyed the pool. All in all a perfect stay at a perfect villa. Recommended and especially good for families. We hope to go back soon! Jim, Natalie and family

We think Villa Philibert is an awesome place! The description given on Airbnb perfectly matches with the true experience! The villa is situated on a giant plot away from the main road. The huge garden has coconut palms all over and at the end of the garden your beach begins! The living is connected to the big outside terrace with pool. We were out most of the time, but used it a couple of times and it's just perfect! The owner provides for a housekeeping service; Stephanie and Gyan are there on a daily basis to provide with breakfast etc should you need it. Stephanie also cleans daily and can cook you local dishes if you like. We asked her to do this a couple of times and we would definitely recommend it! The quality is great and they are both very friendly and helpful people. We went mainly for kitesurfing and diving, Bel Ombre beach is a 15 minutes drive away, offering a kiteschool and various resorts with dive centers. You would definitely need a car or regularly make use of taxis to get around the island. We rented a car for the week and that I would recommend to anyone coming here. It's easy and convenient. All in all we would recommend Villa Philibert for sure for anyone looking for a true tropical break away on the beautiful island of Mauritius.

Located in the south of Mauritius (NO tourists, NO drunks, NO noise – BUT private pool, beautiful garden, birds and true tranquility), Villa Philibert is the perfect spot to discover the whole island. Waterfall bathing, walks on empty beaches, swimming in the cozy lagoon or at the magnificent, nearby Le Morne peninsula – imagine heaven and you found it HERE. The best: the lovely, unobtrusive, helpful people caring about you. Stephanie, a warm hearted lady looking after of the house and cooking exceptionally good food (do ask her for that service to enjoy creole delicacies!); Gyan, an attentive gentleman who masters all questions regarding the house and the vicinity (and helps even with a house visiting MD if necessary); and charming Robert, who has an eye on your privacy on the premises – thanks to all of you, guys, you were really, really great!! Très bon emplacement avec un jardin magnifique qui donne directement sur la mer. Très tranquille.

Une semaine fantastique dans la villa Philibert. La maison est parfaite. Elle a comblé toutes nos espérances (voire au delà). Fonctionnelle, bien équipée, jardin très beau, piscine extra, d'un calme absolu avec accès direct sur la plage. Un énorme MERCI à Gyan, le régisseur de la villa, Stéphanie, la femme de ménage et cuisinière émérite et le gardien. Rentrer de la plage pour mettre les pieds sous la table et se régaler des plats mauriciens préparés par Stéphanie ou des fruits et langoustes rapportés par Gyan, que demander de plus. Une occasion aussi d'en apprendre un peu plus sur la vie des mauriciens tant ils ont été ouverts, chaleureux et accueillants avec nous. Bref, que du bonheur ! Nous recommandons vivement.

Maison et jardin très agréable, idéalement située sur la côte sud encore sauvage de l île, sur une très jolie plage. Très bien reçus par Stéphanie (femme de menage et excellente cuisiniere) et gyan (homme de confiance), nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances.

Great place to discover the South of Mauritius! Stephanie and her family made us feel very welcome from the beginning and were very helpful during our stay. The apartment offers everything you need and has a great location to discover the beauty of the South. We would definitely stay there again.

We toured the islands for five weeks and had a few different places where we stayed, but this one was the best by far. Very recommendable :-) Thank you very much

It was an amazing stay for me and my friends! We practically spent almost our entire trip in the house, making our own meals, resting in the living room, watching football and chilling at the balcony. Bedroom was clean and organised with areas to hang our clothes and sufficient towels provided. Stephanie even made the effort of compiling a handbook of information ranging from food, places to visit and many other useful information. Thanks Stephanie for your kind hospitality!

Did you not yet find your place ??? Just go there find it out by your self how wonderful your stay will be. The house is located at the end of a small village peaceful and quiet. All food you need, you can buy there . If you have your own car , you can reach all this beautiful places around Chemin Grenier and Mauritius very easy. For Kitesurfers..... you are in the middel of all this amazing spots. Thank you so much dear Stephanie and your lovely family Haben sie ihren Platz noch nicht gefunden?? Dann besuchen sie Stephanie und ihre herzliche Familie. Sie werden selber heraus finden wie wunderbar ihr Aufenthalt sein wird. Das Haus befindet sich am Ende eines kleinen Dorfes, freundlich und ruhig gelegen. Fast alles was sie benötigen kann dort auch gekauft werden. Wenn sie ihr eigenes Auto haben können sie alle diese schönen Plätze um Chemin Grenier und auf Mauritius sehr leicht erreichen.

Dear Stephanie, it is hard to find words. Thank you so much!!! With your help and the stay in your flat it was an unforgetable trip for us. On of the best trips in our life. It was a very clean and high standard appartment with much of space. Located near the beach and in the authentic south of Mauritius with all the sights in the near. We come defintliy again!

The apartment was great, exactly as decribed and shown in the photos, well equipped and really a lovely place to stay. The location is good for exploring the south of Mauritius and there are lots of interesting places to visit in the area. We enjoyed exploring the Black River Gorges national park, the local beach, the west coast up to Tamarin, and more. Communication with Stephanie and her family was easy and she responded instantly to the few queries we had. We would certainly stay there again, preferably for longer than the 3 days we were there.

Everything is so perfect, the villa area is located in the southern island of SO Sofitel Mauritius hotel. Quiet environment is also very beautiful, fully equipped, very spacious and luxury. This villa is the ideal place for a family vacation. Not only has the spacious and bright living room, the kitchen and dining room with complete configuration, four sets of independent housing each other does not disturb, wide swimming pool and outdoor recreational dining area also very comfortable and beautiful. We can drive golf cart to spa, restaurant and beach ourselves. There's nothing to be picky about. It is worth saying that the housekeeper Poonima couple have a thoughtful service and can arrange for airport pickup and car (URL HIDDEN) also can prepair great meals and wondeful garden BBQ . They help us buy groceries. We had a wonderful holiday and perfect experience. Next time, we will arrange all the accommodation here in Mauritius.

Our Family had a lovely Time at this beautiful Villa. The views to the open sugarcane fields from the pool deck are amazing ! A great place to stay when visiting South of the Island. The house Help Wanda Is a very nice lady and very helpful. Owner The Guy is very helpful with any question you have before you book or during your stay and Surely cares for his guest`s Comforts. Also an Advantage with the villa is the location within the same complex of So Sofitel so you can take the Golf Car to Spa or Restaurants or the beach. A very nice destination for Nature lovers and Family trips.

The villa is situated in Bel Ombre, within a resort which also contains the luxury Sofitel hotel. It's a beautiful villa which lacks nothing. The couple caring for it were really nice and made our stay even more enjoyable. They prepared excellent meals and were really helpful with the grocery shopping. We had a great vacation.

The staff and owners are wonderful people, helpful and respectful. The place is even nicer in person and a gem.

It's a perfect place for a family holiday , it's comfortable, luxurious , beautiful and just perfect for a group of 8 people. The pool is amazing, the kitchen is well equipped the bedrooms are spacious and the entire house has a beautifully open feel to it. Everything about our this place was a 10/10..
