  • Really enjoyed our stay here. The weather was terrible so it was a really nice spot to stay in and watch the weather, and just relax. The hot tub was great as well, managed to see a few stars on the Saturday in between the storms!

  • Janie is a fantastic host, the room and hot tub were amazing.

    Ryan2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Janie the host was wonderful and the place really needs to be experienced. I can't recommend it enough. We loved it..

    Kate2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Had a terrific stay! Loved the place and Janie is a very respectful host.

    Jack2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, would recommend to anyone, just bear in mind you do have to step outside for a second after having a shower before getting back into the room so if you are staying in the winter months it may be worth bringing a thick dressing gown or something similar. The room was comfortable, clean, and unique, and the hot tub is a great bonus!

    Zaeed2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed here for valentines day and couldn’t of chosen a better place. The cabin is beautiful and very cozy. Hot tub and log burner was amazing and just completes the experience. Very close to alot of local attractions e.g Glastonbury and Wells. The host Janie couldn’t of been nicer or more helpful , gave us a tour of the place then left us to our privacy , however we never felt like we couldn’t contact her for advice no matter the time. All in all a great place to escape from the world for a few days.😊

    Glenna2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Very well put together and stylish cosy cabin. Hot tub on a cold evening in February was truly wonderful. Host was easy to get along with, helpful and full of local tips but also gave us plenty of space to feel private. Great stay.

    Emma2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Such a lovely little gem only a stone's throw away from Glastonbury. The ideal location to unwind and relax with a great host and use of the hot tub and treatments. A must return.

  • We had a perfect weekend away at Redlake farm! The lodge was amazing, very clean and always nice and warm with an easy to use thermostat. The hot tub was fab and having tea bags, coffee, milk, sugar etc was a really nice touch. Great location with various things to do near by such as visiting Clarke’s village or Glastonbury. Definitely would stay again in the future!

Summer is coming but still snuggle up together on the leather sofa with some Prosecco in front of the log fire Dating from the 1700's, our newly restored "boutique" style stone cottage is in the rural historic Yetminster Conservation Area with a thatched CAMRA pub. The Bothy is in the beautiful garden of our quintessential English Heritage listed thatched cottage You have great access to our lovely Dorset countryside & the Jurassic Coast One fixed price: No minimum stays; No cleaning charges
Bothy Cottage is in a delightful rural location with horses in the adjacent fields, chickens across the road and a dairy farm just up the lane. I am so happy just pottering around our home here. We want you to be warm and cosy during the cooler months (& English summer), so the Bothy is heated with electric radiators (controlled by you) and a wood burning stove. We include electricity, kindling wood, fire lighters and logs for your stay. Help yourself to more logs from the store behind the Bothy, if needed. The kitchen facilities are suitable for modest cooking and include a single induction hob, microwave with grill & oven facilities, small fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster, filter coffee jug, etc., plus a washing/drying machine. There are two BBQ's suitable for loose charcoal or plonking a disposable BBQ on top. For walkers, Downs Lane opposite leads to various footpaths and access to the local Vecklands Millennium Wood (Visible from your cottage). The Macmillan Way footpath is 200 yards down Brister End. We can chat about various other places to go using your car. In my view, we are in a cyclist's paradise with loads of lanes and a variety of bridleways (Some very muddy) to suit casual through to the serious on and off road bikers (There is a huge specialist triathlon TriUK superstore in Yeovil). You may lock your bikes in one of our sheds. Once you are off in your car then the Jurassic Coast, the sea, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door & Lyme Regis are some 40-50 minutes away and then there are the National Trust places, including Montecute House, Stourhead (Fabulous landscape gardens with the Spread Eagle pub for food).
Yetminster is a village with a load of listed buildings dating from the 17th Century, about twelve thatched cottages (The locals could not afford proper tiled roofs) and a Grade 1 listed church (St Andrews). The thatched White Hart pub (Run by Blanche & Alex) has a variety of locally sourced beers and ciders (Local labourers were paid with cider until the 1950's) plus good pub grub. I have cycled to over 100 local pubs so I can give you tips on them.
  • What an absolutely stunning little bothy, we couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The decor is amazing and the real wood log burner makes you feel so cozy. We would highly recommend this place to all our friends and family and cannot wait to return in the summer when the garden is in full bloom. The outside BBQ area will also be amazing in better weather. Thank you!

    David2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place, lovely personal touches and a warm welcome. Highly recommended!

    James2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Russell and Liz for a fantastic few nights. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere tranquil, stylish and fun to escape to. Will definitely return!

    Jack2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Bothy cottage was such a beautiful place to stay! We had a lovely stay in front of the log burner! Thank you Liz and Russell we will definitely be back!!

    Francesca2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully clean, extremely cosy, homely and in an ideal location for lovely local walks. Super easy off road parking and a gorgeous wood burning stove and super fast induction job in case you want to cook for yourselves! Russel and Liz even popped a bottle of prosecco and some milk in the fridge for us! Can’t rate it highly enough.

    Joely2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy Cottage was super clean. Wonderful shower too. We drove to pub down the road where locals were all very friendly. My husband said the pint he had was excellent!

    Kate2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this little cottage for my partners birthday, and it really didn’t disappoint!! A birthday card and a bottle of Prosecco were put out for our arrival - which was such a thoughtful touch. The cottage is tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean, which is is key for us! The cottage is so stylish, mixing the modern with traditional - the heaters provide plenty of warmth, but we loved putting the log burner on in the evenings which pumped out the heat but also provided that cosy atmosphere we were looking for. To cottage is perfectly located to explore both Dorset and Somerset, with Sherborne a real highlight for us, and a town I would definitely recommended visiting. A huge thank you to Liz and Russel for providing a place for the perfect weekend getaway, and we look forward to visiting again in the future!

    James2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Bothy Cottage is a little like staying in an enchanted fairy tale cottage with an elegant modern twist. The furnishings are stylish, worldly and beautiful. The appliances are slick and modern. The surrounding garden entry is lush, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the firebox adds cozy warmth to the atmosphere. It really is an enchanting place set in a magical rural setting within easy walking to the pub, nature trails and other amenities. It’s perfect for a couple or single traveler. Highly recommended

  • Well what can I say about woodpecker lodge? Absolutely amazing! We wanted a quiet and relaxing weekend to de stress and this log cabin was exactly the perfect place! The cabin was stylish and comfy. The kitchen well equipped for all needs and the log burner was amazing on the cold nights. We loved the hot tub with multi function and lights and even enjoyed it during stormy weather with torrential rain which made it even more special! Keith and his wife were awesome hosts and totally went above and beyond for us when we had a flat tyre! These guys are truly awesome and we will be recommending this place to our friends and family!

    Stuart2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at Woodpecker Lodge! The location is beautiful, private and so peaceful. The hot tub (an absolute favourite) and the wood burner made our stay extra special. Our great hosts responded quickly and couldn’t do enough to help. As a group we would absolutely recommend Woodpecker Lodge and we fully intend on returning for a longer stay in the future! :)

    Jo2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful log cabin set among the forest. Best thing about it was sitting in the hot tub with the star spattered sky above you, listening to the sounds of the wild like an owl and its chicks. You don’t get to hear or see much of that in the city! The cabin was spotless, the log burner a cosy touch and the kitchen was well stocked with every utensil, pan etc. you could possibly need. Perfect little break away and I would recommend to anyone!

    Sarah2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • Woodpecker Lodge is perfect! It’s clean and has everything you could possibly need. It’s in a secluded location and therefore you have your privacy. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

    Hannah2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Really cosy and romantic cabin with plenty of space. We stayed in woodpecker lodge with a hot tub for three nights. For our first night we only had one neighbour but thankfully the hot tub is mostly covered by a wooden screen - the hot tub next door was the other side of some bushes and we could hear the others but it didn’t disturb us. Access to the hot tub was a little chilly as you can’t go from the cabin door down the steps to it, there’s a wooden ramp before hand but once you’re in the tub it’s lovely. The shop was shut when we went to visit for more drinks or kindling (you get enough for 1 fire) but we sent a message and they opened up quickly for us. We were given detailed maps and some recommendations of where to go and what to see. We did the pooh sticks walk which was about 3 miles in total and had some nice views. The amenities were clean but the crockery and cutlery was all poorly washed so we had to clean things as we used them - that’s most likely the fault of previous occupants though and not necessarily the hosts. All in all a positive experience, it was a relaxing, charming atmosphere and comfortable.

    Shaun2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • I would highly recommend this beautiful place. So relaxing and cosy. Staff are very helpful and friendly with giving tips on what to do locally. I would love to come back again.

    Elizabeth2019-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Woodpecker Lodge is the perfect place for a relaxing break. The lodge is bigger than it looks in the photos, and has absolutely everything you need. The hot tub was lovely and warm, and perfect for relaxing after a long day of walking. The lodge is cosy and very warm and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back again.

    Laura2019-11-03T00:00:00Z
  • Woodpecker Lodge is great. Stayed for 4 nights with our dog and we had a fantastic time. The cabin has all the amenities you will need, and is spotlessly clean. There is a small wood burning stove which makes it nice and cozy. The hot tub is lovely and warm and the cabin is secluded by woodland all around to give you some privacy. Its located only a short drive form the coast and we visited Lyme Regis (lovely place) and Torquay. Would definitely recommend Woodpecker Lodge and Keith and his family are great hosts.

  • The nest is the perfect home away from home. From the moment we arrived it was so warm and inviting. Mary had thought of everything, from complimentary tea and coffee, to fluffy towels, to having the apartment preheated for our arrival. The bath in the bedroom was true luxury, and our own private hot tub was perfect. The detailed directions made it easy to find, and Mary was always quick to respond when we spoke. If your looking for a romantic, relaxing escape, this is the perfect place. Would highly recommend and hoping to return in summer!

  • A warm inviting space with all the amenities you need, the use of the hot tub was amazing. We had such a peaceful night sleep and enjoyed the scenery. We want to come back again the summer to enjoy it with our children.

  • We had a 4 night break here, with 5 boys (aged 8 -12) it was beautiful house, with stunning views. Despite storm Dennis, we enjoyed the hot tub every day. There are so many outdoor and indoor activities that the boys were fully entertained and we had little need to go anywhere else. The kitchen is beautifully equipped, wanting for nothing during the stay. Highly recommend holiday. The icing on the cake was a beautifully made Victoria sponge on arrival 😀 thank you Cath

  • We had a lovely family weekend away in February to celebrate a birthday. The house was very spacious and clean and had all that we needed. Cath was very friendly and helpful. Would love to come back again.

  • Very great place, the pictures don't do it justice, amazing views from all areas of the house and the hot tub was perfect and all the other games and bits available kept us entertained all day. Would definitely stay here again.

  • We all absolutely loved our holiday and would highly recommend it to friends and family and would love to stay again. It was much bigger than what I thought it was going to be which was lovely for our 18 week old to have a quiet nap whilst everyone else could talk and the other children could play with no worries. The hot tub was amazing and relaxing the views were stunning and we were made to feel very welcome.

Atherstone Farm Cottage is a beautiful and newly refurbished grade II listed thatched cottage in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone in Somerset, two miles from Ilminster. Its rural location and carefully restored interiors make it a great countryside bolt-hole. Both bedrooms are ensuite, one with a roll top bath and shower, the other a walk-in wetroom / shower. The house also has a modern kitchen, with a separate utility room, and a large stone-floored living and dining room with a wood-burning stove.
With a stone floor, ancient beams and thatched roof it's the picture of a romantic country cottage, but now updated with a modern kitchen, bathrooms and entertainment system. Its rural location makes it a great escape for those looking for a countryside bolt-hole, with plenty of pubs to walk / cycle to and things to see and do nearby, and convenient shopping in Ilminster is not far away. There are two comfortable bedrooms, both en-suites., with deep mattresses, 400 thread count cotton bedding, indulgent mattress toppers and fluffy bathrobes, so you can truly settle into the cosiness of the cottage. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and a spacious bathroom with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. The second bedroom can be arranged as a superking-sized double or with two single beds. Its bathroom is a walk-in modern wetroom with heated stone tile floors. The house has a large living area for four people, with a long dining / sitting room. The sitting room has comfortable sofas, a wood-burning stove set into a large stone fireplace and is equipped with a 55’ flatscreen internet-connected TV with a Bluetooth soundbar that can be used to play music / radio through the TV or from a Bluetooth device, or just envelop those who want to relax with a movie. The kitchen is modern and well equipped with an electric oven, hob and dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with a large fridge-freezer (including ice-machine) and a washer-drier. There is also good-sized private lawn, a charcoal bbq and teak outdoor table and chairs for the summer (or the hardy!)
Atherstone Farm Cottage is part of an old grade II listed farm that has been part of the Dillington Estate since at least 1725. The cottage is found at one end of the farmhouse - with the other half of the house also available to rent as a separate 4 bed house. The two are joined through lockable doors on the ground floor for the convenience of any groups renting both. The farm is in the tiny hamlet of Atherstone, which is surrounded by fields and woods that are accessible on foot and bicycle through the myriad of local country lanes and footpaths. Nearby there are several pubs, some within walking distance – like the Barrington Boar – others a little further, but worth cycling or driving to, such as the Dinnington Docks or Lord Poulett Arms. Barrington House, a National Trust house with gardens open to the public, is nearby, as is Dillington House. The Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp are also very close and worth a visit, for the tea rooms as much as anything else. There are several local cider producers whose orchards and presses are worth seeing, Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake being one, and Julian Temperley’s cider and cider brandy distillery over at Burrow Hill another. A little further away the beach at Lyme Regis and walks along the Jurassic coastline are 40mins or so to the South, and the Hauser and Wirth gallery near Bruton is 40 mins or so to the East.
  • Lovely cottage in one of the prettiest areas we’ve visited in the UK. The house itself is immaculate, spacious, and charming. Really appreciated the heaps of firewood for cozy evenings around the living room as well as private garden for breakfast in the sunshine. Great local suggestions as well, we had an excellent lunch at the Lord Poullet Arms nearby.

    Jessica2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a stunning property and it’s one of the cleanest I’ve stayed at, everything is perfect. There’s a fantastic log burner and a big basket of logs for you to burn. The decor is wonderful, everything is really tastefully done. Loved the bath robes and the toiletries that were provided. The Barrington Boar is a very short drive and it’s a really great pub. We went to the Lord Poulet too which was great. Make sure you go to Pips Railway Cafe because their breakfast is to die for and it’s kind of quirky eating in a railway carriage! I would not hesitate to recommend this house and only wish I could move in!

  • Brilliant quiet location with a lovely countryside feel

  • Atherstone Cottage was amazing, quiet, clean and beautiful. We felt at home from the minute we walked through the door and had a very relaxed and enjoyable weekend stay. We particularly loved the log burner, the authentic stone floors, the original wooden doors, coupled with the modern luxurious decor. We can’t wait to come back for longer next time!

  • Wonderful property, comfortable & quiet. Wifi strength is variable. Common area is marvelous with fireplace to keep you warm. Beds are truly comfortable & firm. Location close to delights of Ilminster and supermarket convenience.

  • Atherstone Farm Cottage was a lovely place to stay. Set in the middle of nowhere down some narrow lanes, you really felt away from it all. Facilities were great, despite the farmhouse being rather old! The low beams won 4-2 in terms of days when I hit my head, but that just added to the charm. Check-in was easy (via a key safe), and they texted to say that we were able to check in early, which was a nice touch. Nearby pubs and restaurants were very nice, with particular mention of the Lord Poulett Arms and Pip’s Railway Cafe. (Don’t trek all the way to The Pig, though. We were disappointed). All in all we had a really good time and can recommend the cottage highly.

    Karl2019-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely place to holiday and the facilities inside the cottage were ideal. There are a lovely range of walks and places to visit nearby and some of the local pubs provided some excellent foods as well as being dog friendly. The two ensuites are perfect when two couples are sharing the Cottage. The Dillington Estates were good at providing information and responses to questions regarding our stay.

The cottage was spotless and there was lots to do including tv, wireless, WiFi for our internet, movies and playing cards. • Vanessa is offering just fantastic accommodation in a very interesting area. The accommodation is spacious and everything is well thought out(Vanessa has a great eye for detail). I can’t recommend The Potting Shed highly enough.

    Martin2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was an incredibly wonderful stay. The potting shed has been carefully built to specification taking every small detail into consideration. It is clean, cosy and private. the bed is immensely comfortable, the shower is one of the best we’ve used on any trip and the kitchen is perfectly stocked for making all meals necessary. The eggs Vanessa left were a nice touch and we enjoyed watching films by the fire ( which she had laid ready for our arrival) and playing board games whilst the Bluetooth speaker played out tune!would be our only choice if we stay in the area again.

    Johnny2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Vanessa is the best host we have ever stayed with. The stylist touches and the thoughtful extras always make the difference. We will definitely be staying again and are already looking forward to a summer stay. Thank you again for such a lovely stay

  • This was our second stay at The Potting Shed, and, (hopefully), not our last. It is so beautiful, so quiet and tranquil. If I'd been any more relaxed I'd have been in a coma! Vanessa is very thoughtful; providing lots of extra touches like fresh eggs, cotton buds and tin foil. We love it so much that I don't even bother looking at anywhere else on Airbnb now, just go straight to The Potting Shed. I don't believe there could be any place better in the UK

    Melanie2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful accomodation which was perfect for us and our 2 well behaved cocker spaniels. The enclosed courtyard was perfect as well as access to the secure field across the road for a little run around (They never get tired even after hours worth of walking through Somerset!) Vanessa lives on site and came to say hello when we arrived even though it was later at night than planned. She was always easily contactable if needed. The Potting Shed is in a beautiful location and enabled us to explore some lovely areas We would definitely love to come back!

    Millie2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Potting Shed was absolutely perfect. It's a beautiful barn conversion with everything you could need. Vanessa was so welcoming and there were lots of little touches like fresh eggs and local cider. She also gave us loads of helpful local advice. If you want to relax by a log fire in a beautiful rural location, I cannot recommend this place enough.

10 minutes from the M5 and an easy drive to both North and South Devon coasts (30-45 mins) The Shed is a set in a secluded part of our garden with beautiful views across the fields and a view of the Culmstock Beacon. It is separate from the house with an en suite shower and toilet, a small kitchen area with fridge-freezer and a patio for your exclusive use. It has underfloor heating. Perfect for couples but a double pull out bed can be provided for children. It has TV and WIFi.
The Shed is a new build that offers peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. Tea and coffee are provided along with basic cooking equipment. Breakfast is not provided but, at your request, we can supply basics such as fresh bread, marmalade, butter and locally sourced eggs for your arrival. If you don’t feel like getting your own breakfast there is an excellent café/deli 3 minutes walk away that does a very satisfying breakfast. Also excellent for lunch! The local riverside pub is a short 5 minutes’ walk through the village and serves very good food both at lunch time and in the evenings. There are plenty of great walks, or just simple strolls along the river. For cyclists, this is an idyllic location. For example, Beer, on the Jurassic Coast is a 50 mile round trip – also Exmoor and Dartmoor are on the radar for enthusiastic cyclists. There are many shorter round trips to be enjoyed for those who do not want to go so far. Both my husband and I are keen cyclists and would be able to give help and advice on the best local rides. BIkes can be securely housed during your stay. Or simply come and relax, breath in the Devon air and enjoy the peace and quiet of the gorgeous countryside.
  • I cannot put into words how wonderful the Luxury Shed is. It exceeded all my expectations and is quite simply the best AIRBNB place I have ever stayed in.

  • We stayed at Mary’s place with our 2 year old son and what a wonderful weekend it was! Mary has a lovely spacious home, with lots of well thought of touches - the cuppa and biscuits on arrival was most needed after a long drive! Although the weather wasn’t in our favour, with wellies and coats we were able to walk around the beautiful grounds before going back inside for a lovely roll top bath! The hot tub was lovely and we really enjoyed everything about the weekend (except storm Dennis!) Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend. Plenty to do if you’re willing to drive, and would recommend The New Inn about 6 miles away for lovely pub food! Thanks Mary for being a wonderful Host and sharing your beautiful home!

A rustic stargazer where you can fall asleep watching the stars and wake up to the sound of birdsong! A rural spot, far from street lighting, the sky lights up on clear nights. Simple, basic, but unusual accommodation. This is a wooden A-frame structure with enough room for two to sleep in with a mainly glass roof.
Where else can you stay in a stargazer?! Our large Devon stone house in a quiet valley on the edge of the pretty village of Holcombe Rogus, surrounded by countryside. The house is half a mile from the village, which has a small shop, a garage and a pub. The Prince of Wales pub does pub food as does the Staple Cross Inn which is about 3 miles away. (food not available every day) Both Dartmoor and Exmoor, and the north and south Devon coasts, are about an hour away, and there are plenty of pretty walks close by, including the Great Western Canal. The cathedral city of Exeter is 40 minutes away, and the market town of Taunton 30 minutes. Nearby Wellington and Tiverton have a range of shops and supermarkets. There is quick and easy access to the M5 at both junctions 26 and 27, and is a 15 minute drive from Tiverton Parkway Train station. We also have available a single room. Please see separate listing.
  • Neat star gazing opportunity in a warm and relaxing way. Lovely quiet place.

    Lauren2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Simply amazing with lovely hospitality. Couldn’t have found a better place to stay surrounded by beautiful nature. Thank you again Tess and Richard!!!

    Charlotte2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • COSY, FUN AND QUIRKY! My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our night in the little stargazing hut! Tess and Richard were kind and friendly hosts, and made us feel very welcome. We had the use of a private bathroom during our stay, with a lovely hot and powerful shower, and the conservatory to keep our bags in. Tess and Richard very kindly allowed us to bring our Thermomix, so we spent the Saturday evening sharing their kitchen, as we cooked a Mushroom Risotto, and enjoying a chat with them. So much nicer than going to a restaurant! In view of our dietary preferences, we used our Thermomix on the Sunday morning, too, to make a green juice and smoothie. Richard also made us a loaf of homemade malted bread, which was lovely. Cereals and preserves were also on offer. The stargazing hut itself was very cosy, and there were plenty of duvets to keep us warm. A fun way to sleep under the stars, and a very enjoyable experience all round!

    Karen2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay with Tess and Richard who were wonderful hosts and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The hut was great and we could see so many stars and ended up downloading a stargazing app so we could tell where the constellations were, just beware of a few small friends if you’re frightened of bugs/spiders but they kept to themselves. Would highly recommend for a few night to just chill out and spend some quality time away from busy day-to-day life.

    Rachel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Tess and Richard were very welcoming and relaxed. The star gazer was very cosy and a lovely space to stay. I would thoroughly recommend a night there!

    Lydia2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at Tess's and Richard's place as well as their warm hospitality.

    David2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly what it said- lovely star gazing hut with cozy vibe. Intentionally basic to not distract from nature & starry nights. We had a lovely weekend

    Luis2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tess & Richard are fabulous hosts, really helpful with tips on where to eat etc during our stay. The hut is lovely and cosy - plenty warm enough with the extra duvets we were given. Lovely breakfast too, and really useful to have use of the conservatory for storing belongings, and enjoying the evenings. Overall a fab trip, and was really happy to meet such lovely hosts!

  • Very clean comfortable private accommodation, hot tub under the stars with lovely countryside views, Beverley a great host nothing too much trouble to make your stay special

    Gary2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved the house, the setting is stunning and the hot tub under the stars is perfect even in January! Beverley looked after us so well, and the animals are super friendly.

    Julia2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • Such a fab place! I'd looked online for log cabins with hot tubs but there wasn't the option to stay for 1 night only and they were SO expensive. Pretty glad I found Beverley's place on air bnb! So much better than a log cabin! A beautiful 1 bed guest house with a huge bedroom and bed. So warm and snuggly and lots of Christmassy touches which was cute. The hot tub was... INCREDIBLE!! Plus lots of animals around outside which we loved. We will definitely be returning!!

    Kerry2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time, Beverley was very welcoming and explained everything and the view was stunning. It was a shame we only had one night and no time to explore locally as it all looked so beautiful.

    Melissa2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • We spent New Years here and it was wonderful and relaxing. The views from the property are incredible; just rolling hills as far as the eye can see. The hot tub was a real highlight, and Beverley was a wonderful host. Very helpful, and quick with any communication. We would highly recommend, and would return.

    Niall2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at this charming cottage for 2 nights and it was perfect. It had everything we needed, felt secluded enough but was also very easy to reach local amenities and things to e.g. nearby Bruton. Clean, comfortable and actually quite spacious within we really enjoyed the time we spent here. Doey made check in very easy, and gave us a breakfast basket which was great. Would thoroughly recommend staying here!

  • Great little house in a really nice spot to get away and spend some time together. When it rained we lit the fire and stayed in, when it was clear we walked to the local pubs and around the fields. The hosts Simon and Doey were really friendly but not intrusive at all. Made us feel very at home instantly. Would 100% recommend.

Step into the enchantment of this heated treehouse which offers idyllic countryside views. Fix breakfast with tea in a quaint kitchen and cosy up in the charming decor and wood-panelled walls, surrounded by nature. This a perfect place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city - especially if you are wanting to maintain social distancing/self isolate during the current coronavirus crisis. The treehouse is up a long private drive, surrounded by fields so it's a great place to get away from it all with some wonderful walks directly from the front door.
Twiglet is the perfect romantic holiday for those wanting to get away from it all. You can sleep in a cosy double bed in a tree house with nature all around you. Downstairs is your own private bathroom with a shower and a loo. The shepherd's hut next door comprises a kitchen with its own fridge and cooking facilities. You can sit and enjoy a drink on the decking in front of the pretty pond which runs in front of the property. From there, you can take a stroll through the orchard and into the fields beyond.
The house is located in Mells, a village that dates back to the 11th century with a reputation for being one of the most serene in Somerset. It has an award-winning pub, the Talbot Inn, as well as a village shop, cafe, and many historic buildings.
  • Such a unique, wonderful, peaceful and romantic stay. We loved it and can’t wait to come back in the summer. Breakfast provisions are a really thoughtful touch. Loved sitting on the swing on the porch just enjoying the quiet! Definitely recommend.

    Mandy2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely one nights stay in the treehouse. It was every child’s dream. So lovely and peaceful and their lovely cat made our stay extra sweet with lots of cuddles. Leaving us a generous breakfast, plus milk, bread etc was a really thoughtful touch and although we didn’t visit, the local pub looked lovely! The decoration is so well done and they have made use of the spaces really well. We would love to come back again in the sunshine for a longer stay to be able to appreciate it all fully and make use of the thoughtful outside spaces. Daisy was really welcoming and when she realised a WiFi box was missing when she was showing us our accommodation, she sorted this immediately. Your place is really special, thanks for letting people share it!

  • The Twiglet treehouse was the perfect location for a relaxing weekend away. Everything was as the images show, and the location was just lovely! During our stay we visited the beautiful Frome and it’s independent shops and cafes, before coming into Mells and visiting the local pub. The food, service and staff were friendly, warm and welcoming, it felt as if we were one of the locals. The pub is an easy 15 minute walk from Twiglet if you want some fresh air. Mells village shop is great for essentials if needed too. The river flowing around the edge of the building, the swing seat and the complimentary bacon and eggs were just things that made the experience even better. We even had the loveable cat visit us both mornings, who will expect plenty of cuddles and fuss! Everything felt clean and well cared for around the whole site. We would recommend taking some shoes to slip on when going from bedroom to sitting room as the steps can be wet and slightly slippy too! Highly recommend visiting :)

  • A great place hidden away - great for a couple to disappear from the world for a while, pop into the local pubs (walking distance) and enjoy the hot tub. Would thoroughly recommend.

  • A lovely, small cider barn that has everything you need. We loved the hot tub and wood burner. We recommend this to anyone who wants a cosy and relaxing stay.

This private bedroom is one of 3 guest rooms within an indoor courtyard (atrium), all set in a self built Eco house, surrounded by woods, scrap, art and artists, workshops, walks, etc...if you are in need of creative inspiration or encouragement , or you just want a quiet couple of nights in the country.. That's us!! 10 miles from Bath and Bristol. Close to Glastonbury, Wells, Stonehenge.
What makes it unique ? Well, what doesn't!! First of all I would suggest reading some of our reviews. We are very proud to have over 600 reviews across our 3 listings, and you won’t find many that are unhappy :-). There are probably not many places like this (in England at least)... It's more like a West Coast USA house as seen in Lloyd Khans amazing books (look him up). This is our own self-built eco house set in 5 or 6 acres of its own land. The house itself is in a private area, but within the grounds of the property there are many other spaces including a therapy suite ( you can book separately for massage, acupuncture, hypnotherapy etc) , workshops for metal and woodwork, recording and rehearsal studio, a part time vegan cafe, a huge and eclectic collection of obscure artefacts from aeroplanes to gypsy caravans, and anything in between!! It is also home to upwards of 20 other people who are engaged in work with circus/ festivals and events management. There is an early stage forest garden , solar hot water and electric and more being added daily. There is always something new at Rockaway! If you're looking for somewhere fastidiously neat and tidy or you're scared of spiders it's probably not for you , but if you like what you see, we'd love to have you here ....,( although of course we do our best to keep it neat and tidy, I am just trying to put off over- fussy guests :-) We like to think we understand the ethos of Airbnb and the desire to change the world for the better by encouraging conversation and the sharing of ideas. We have found the whole experience to be thoroughly rewarding and we hope you will too. Please note we have another (cheaper) room available in the house, with two single beds and a shared toilet, and also an apartment that can sleep 4 comfortably. We are able to accommodate extra people, so if you're traveling with kids or friends and think our listed rooms are too small to fit all of you, please enquire. Look forward to meeting you. Mark and Marta
The house is set in approx 6-7 acres of land part of which used to be a scrapyard and some of which we still run as such. There are woods and great walks very close by and good bus connections for Bristol, Bath, Wells and Glastonbury. We are about half a mile from the village of Temple Cloud in a secluded, redundant stone quarry. There are mature oak trees all around the house and the site. We still run a van dismantling business from the adjacent yard and help out from time to time with artistic projects involving scrap, including photography, film and video projects. If you're looking for inspiration or looking to meet people to help further your ideas and plans , we may be able to point you in the right direction or hook you up with the right people... I'm hoping that the B and B will just help to make further and far reaching connections and not just be a soulless interaction... Of course though we are just as happy for people to come and just chill. Tourist attractions in the area include: Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury Tor, Roman Baths, Wells Cathedral, Wooky Hole Caves, Bristol city and all it's attractions from amazing graffiti art to Brunel's architectural achievements.
  • A friendly welcome and a comfortable stay at an eccentric and amazing venue.

  • Marta and Mark are the most amazing hosts! Their home, which we shared for two nights, is exceptionally beautiful. We enjoyed every second of our stay and we left already planning for our next visit. This place is one of kind!

  • Amazing stay!!!! What a gem. Can't wait to come back

    Laura2020-02-29T00:00:00Z
  • From the first moment we felt home in this house. Everything was clean and of good quality. Even in winter time we never felt cold in our two rooms. Kitchen well equipped and good beds to sleep. Thank you!

    Adrian2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Marta’s house is the most unique place i have ever seen. You could spend an entire day just inside her house, unfortunately we were there only for a day and couldn’t spend as much time as we would have liked to. She made us a delicious breakfast and even invited us to eat with her. I highly recommend her house for anyone who is visiting bath or Bristol. Her house is a 20 min drive to either places. Will definitely look forward to staying at her house whenever we visit Bath again.

  • Very cool and off beat vibe with plenty of nature close by. Relax and the the location worked perfectly for me to do day trips to Glastonbury, Bristol and Cheddar. It was a fun stay. I also enjoyed chatting with some of the other guests that were staying there. It had a nice community sorta vibe.

  • Great little place! Very clean and cosy :)))

    Rose2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for one night and we couldn't fault it. The converted barn was stunning, full of character and very warm and cosy. The kitchen had all we needed for cooking our evening meal. It was in a very pretty, quiet spot and waking up to birdsong was really nice. Shame it wasn't the weather to sit in the cute little outside space. All in all a little gem!

  • Weve stayed at 2 of Mel,s properties now and both are as excellent as each other . They are clean , comfy and have everything you need . We even cooked a lovely roast dinner whilst we were there . Mel has thought of all the welcoming and practical things and the cottages are to such a high standard that it is a pleasure to stay...we will definitely be back ..and maybe try the third cottage next time too . Thank you mel for being such a brilliant host and your communication with us along the way has been excellent .

A uniquely appointed wood cabin sited under mature oak trees in our lovely garden. The Shack has one lovely room with kitchen area inc microwave, fridge and toaster, no cooker but a single electric ring. Items for breakfast will be left for your first night and you are welcome to request more. These include homemade bread and jam, milk, tea and coffee and cereal. Well insulated so warm in winter and cool in summer. 3 miles to the coast. A short drive to Exmoor or the Quantock hills. Meet our chickens and dogs, chill on the veranda listening to birds and the river, or stroll to the very local pub.
The Shack comprises a good size room with double bed. There's a kitchenette and your own bathroom with toilet, sink and our special galvanised metal shower! As we are keen to re-use and upcycle as much as possible you will find many examples of this in the shack. There's the pallet wood wall and floor which was taken up from an old pub skittle alley. Lights and other features hand made by ourselves in reclaimed wood.
The Shack is situated in the hamlet of Torre (pronounced tor) just a few yards from the river Washford. The White Horse pub is just a few metres away, has a beer garden next to the river and otters can occasionally be seen. We are pretty quiet yet not isolated and only 10 minutes from the coast at Blue Anchor. Washford has a lovely quirky small zoo which has great indoor and outdoor play areas and is enjoyed by adults and children alike. The Steam railway (which is the longest in the country) stops in the village and the train is often heard from our property. The neighbourhood is very friendly and welcoming. Our property is set in a small valley and there are many trees around. The sound of birds ( Inc owls) around the shack is lovely and we regularly get nuthatches, tree creepers, long tailed tits and goldfinches to our feeders. Sit on your terrace and listen to the river and relax...
  • Our stay with Jill & John was wonderful. The shack is very cozy and pretty. Everything was clean and quiet and John was very welcoming. We were sad we only booked one night :)

  • The Beam is a fantastic place to stay, very stylish and luxurious with homely feel, full of extra touches, that you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. Graham and Emily are excellent friendly hosts. Brilliant location for exploring the surrounding towns. Would highly recomend.

    Jonathan2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at The Beam, so many thoughtful touches were included - even down to dog treats and towels for our dog and a bottle of Prosecco and chocolates on arrival. The place itself is extremely stylish and well thought out, and the hot tub a fantastic addition. Even though Wells was only a 5 minute drive away (great for popping to the supermarket on arrival) you still have a real sense of getting away from it all with some great walks on the doorstep. We hope to return one day!

    Alexandra2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had such an incredible stay! The Beam was stylish, spotless and the hot tub was an added bonus! The host were very attentive but left us to our own devices! They were knowledgeable about the surrounding area and seemed really fun people. I would recommend anyone to stay here who fancies to get away from it all, you really do feel like your in another country. Never experienced anything like The Beam, this will definitely be hard to beat! We will be back!! Hannah, Stacey & Lola ❤️

  • We had an absolutely fantastic time at Zine Farm. The accommodation was rustic and beautiful. The space is perfect for couples and very dog friendly which is always top of our list. Sam was great and couldn’t do enough for us. The area is so peaceful and quiet. I haven’t slept like that in ages (made even more so by the comfy bed!) thanks again for making us so welcome.

  • Delightful location and very accommodating hosts. Property was sparkling clean with some very thoughtful and considerate touches. We can’t recommend highly enough.

    Karl2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic find. We stayed in the aftermath of storm Ciara so was very wet and windy. We were lovely and cosy inside with the log burner. The dairy has everything you need for a short or longer stay. The bed is very comfortable and the shower huge and hot. Short drive to beach or longer walk across fields which we did not attempt due to mud. Fresh eggs were a bonus. Don't want to recommend too much as may become too booked!

    Rachel2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • An AMAZING stay! Sam's hospitality was second to none. There for anything that you wanted but never intrusive or over the top, always on hand to help with any queries such as directions to the nearest beach or which local pubs to visit. The property itself was exceptionally clean with high quality amenities such as a well equipped kitchen and lovely drencher shower. We were greeted with a torrent of thoughtful touches such as the multi fuel stove being already lit, cookies on the table for us, dog treats in a bowl, milk in the fridge, farm fresh eggs for breakfast and a well stocked supply of beer and wine (available to pay for via an honesty jar). The property truly felt like a home from home and we are already planning a return visit as ours was so outstanding.

  • Stunning little place on the middle of a farm. The Piggary was a stylish stay with a lovely log burner perfect for the cold January evenings, we didn’t feel the cold at all the place kept very warm and felt real cosy. It was lovely to wake up and see the sunrise out of the bedroom window where the cows were wandering around. Very clean and lovely fresh eggs on our arrival to the farm from the chickens found roaming around freely. Sam was very helpful in every way possible and did everything he could to make us feel welcome and comfortable on our stay! Couldn’t ask for a better host to make us feel more at home, thank you for such a perfect stay and great hospitality would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to visit and stay in the area!

  • Completely and utterly impressed with this beautiful, quaint and so well equipped accommodation. This is hosting at its very very best. Penny has thought of absolutely everything to make your stay soo homely and comfortable. Was so easy to book in and check out. Fantastic stay while exploring the surrounding area which offers a varied amount of things to do. The local New Inn just a short walk from the accommodation serves delicious food. As we drive home we are already planning a return trip as we enjoyed this one so much. Thanks Penny for having us.

  • We had a very comfortable two-night stay in the chapel. The building itself and the décor are both lovely and there were plenty of thoughtful touches – Penny has great taste and attention to detail. There was also useful info on-hand including things to do locally, the interesting history of the chapel and helpful visuals for how to use the sofa bed. We would definitely stay here again and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a quirky and cosy retreat in the Bath area.

    Faye2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is simply beautiful. Secluded, spacious and homely it offered exactly what I was after to surprise my partner for a lovely little romantic break away. The host sent through a welcome message with all the details on gaining entry, where to go if you wanted to eat out and the contact details if you needed anything. There was a lovely little rest of goodies on arrival (drink and shortbread) along with milk in the fridge. The bedroom in the mezzanine area is spacious and the bed very comfortable! The kitchen has everything you need and the shower room, although downstairs from the bedroom, is light and fresh and has all the toiletries. We ended up eating at The Bunch of Grapes in Bradford-on-Avon, which the food was amazing! Would definitely recommend if you’re happy to spend that little bit more. Could not fault it or the service. Following night we ate at the local village pub, The New Inn. Again lovely, decent pub food, with very good portions. Again could not fault. Will definitely look to return at some point.

  • What a fantastic place and one of the best AirBnb’s we’ve stayed in. The decor was beautiful and location perfect for visiting Bradford on Avon and Bath. Could not recommend Penny’s place enough and we will definitely be returning!

  • We loved this beautiful and thoughtfully arranged chapel. One of the best Airbnbs we’ve stayed in.

    Adam2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely spot in a quiet village. The chapel is a gorgeous little place, one single room with a kitchen off to the side and the bedroom upstairs. Penny was an excellent host, providing excellent communication before and during our stay. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Bath or the nearby area

  • Rebecca was very friendly and quick to respond. Everything was easy. She went the extra mile by unlocking, turning heating and lighting on for my arrival on a very wet March evening. Really clean, lovely place, full of character. Parking right outside. Very comfy bed with warm feather duvet. Would definitely go back.

    Sara2020-03-05T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful stay in the gorgeous out house. It I’m really is the loveliest little space but you have more than what you might need. We visited Hestercombe gardens which is literally next doors so we didn’t have to drive. It was stunning, definitely recommend a visit. We also went to the Farms Arms for dinner which was such a lovely pub and the food and hospitality was great. I would recommend the out house for getaway in a heartbeat. It really is lovely.

Shepherds Rest is a beautiful Shepherds hut on the edge of a lake set on an organic estate. It has a fully kitted out kitchen and bathroom inside and fire pit and bbq area outside in the private garden that leads down to the water's edge. You can watch the wildlife from your hut or the hammock, soak in the Lakeside Hot tub or loose yourself in the Woodland sauna. There is an award winning gastro pub within walking distance and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast is only 30 mins away.
The beautifully designed hut has integral kitchen and bathroom and comfy double bed with Egyptian cotton bedding, there are books, dvds and even binoculars to watch the abundant wildlife. On arrival you will receive fresh flowers, marshmallows for toasting on the fire pit, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, a wood basket for the fire pit and cider or wine.
Shepherds Rest is located on our 265 acre organic estate which is in South Somerset but on the borders of both Dorset and Devon. The local picture postcard village is Hinton st George and offers a shop, tea rooms and an award winning Gastro pub. The market town of Crewkerne is also close by and has a rang of useful shops and supermarkets, but we would always recommend visiting the ever popular seaside resorts such as Lyme Regis and Bridport which are both only 30 mins away and offer fantastic access to The Jurassic Coast.
  • One of my best weekends away! We had a mixture of sun and rain/hail but the place is beautiful and there are lots of lovely walks surrounding it. The sunrise over the lake was incredible, would recommend getting up early if you can! The woodland sauna was a highlight for us, so peaceful, lovely outdoor shower after too. The hot tub wasn't quite hot enough after the 2 hours filling and heating (although love that it's natural) and we were in a rush so we didn't get to take full advantage of it but it's an incredibly location. The hut itself was perfect, comfy bed, great cooking utensils (we made pancakes both mornings). The BBQ we used the instant bbq in the bbq provided but I'd recommend bringing coals and a grill if you'd like to bbq. The pub has a great roast and the walks there are well worth doing. Thanks for a great stay Andrew.

  • Book now, you won't be disappointed. The setting is beautiful, the hut is very private, and well kitted out. Be sure to check out the infrared sauna... Amazing! We would recommend the Lord Poulett Arms, but don't try to walk there in the dark! We hope to be back in the summer.

    Lerryn2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • It’s so perfect here. Me and my partner loved every minute here. They had such lovely little treats, the sauna was amazing and so fun, it’s so cosy and I’m definitely coming back in summer. Thank you so much Andrew for being the best host.

  • Lovely place, couldn't fault it!

    Jennifer2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay and thought the place was amazing! It is exactly like described on the lake! The setting is beautiful and the cabin is stunning with lots of touches to make it extra special. They leave a gorgeous welcome basket and fire for the first wood for the first night. The hot tub was incredible and just added to the experience. We would definitely love to come back :)

    Gemma2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful place to stay, looked just like the photos maybe even better in person. Peaceful location and private setting was so relaxing. The woodland sauna is so nice, didn’t get round to using the hot tub as was a cold winter weekend but the shepherd hut is so cosy with the electric fire. Loved the little extra touches cider on arrival, marshmallows and all of the necessities we needed. Literally the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a winter get away and to get into the countryside for some relaxation! Will definitely be coming back, can imagine it’s a great place to stay for the summer too. Very special accommodation 🙌

    Jade2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Shepards hut was perfect! Just right for a bit of a digital detox in lovely and quiet surroundings. The hot tub was brilliant (even in mid November)! Nice little touches to the hut, which was very clean and easy to access. We will definitely recommend!

    Chris2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t recommend Shepherds Rest enough for a relaxing break away. We loved the hot tub and fire pit especially. You felt a world away from the rest of life, lovely small touches and peaceful area.

The Hole in the Wall is part of a Grade 2 listed building, the owners occupy the main house and the refurbished cottage (which is separate) is at the rear, it is 20 - 30 mins from Bath, Wells, Longleat, Glastonbury & Cheddar. On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen diner, on the first floor there is a large lounge with sofas at one end and a double bed room area at the other end. There is also a separate bedroom with twin beds, there is a comfy foldaway bed for a 5th guest.
The Hole in the Wall was originally a public house and the cottage was the brewery. After being derelict for several years it was completely renovated to a very high standard in 2016. The main lounge had many original Victorian features including a marble fireplace and original ceiling rose.
  • A great friends catch-up weekend in this beautiful property. Wonderfully clean and comfortable and 2 mins from some lovely pubs with friendly locals. Highly recommended. Thanks Emma.
