  • This cottage is clean, cozy, and right in the midst of everything...beaches,redwoods,elk,hikes!

  • This place was extremely clean, well stocked and comfortable. We enjoyed the area, view and hearing the seals on the beach below. We even had some peacocks come visit our yard!

  • My husband and I had one of the best romantic getaways ever at the Alder Cottage. Not only did we arrive to a property that was impecably clean, the host had the heater on and some welcome music playing for us. We had a small hiccup with the hot tub and Vacasa was incredible with their response time in resolving the issue. Real top notch service. They made us feel like VIP's instead of a nuisance as some hosts can do. One of the highlights of the house is the well equipped kitchen. This is one of the rare airbnb properties that has a good, sharp set of knives. All the dishes, cookware and cutlery were of excellent quality. Do take the time to walk down to the bluff and enjoy the breathtaking views. All in all, the property felt very private despite sharing a driveway and yard with the neighboring cottage. My husband and I agreed that this is one of our favorite airbnb stays of all time, and we've been to quite a few. Highest regards to the Vacasa team and can't wait to return!

    Lanette2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I spent several days at the cottage and were amazed with the location and amenities. The views from the bluff are gorgeous and the hot tub was a great addition to a chilly vacation. We enjoyed waking up to the sounds of barking sea lions and going to sleep to the sound of the ocean. You don’t have to leave the cottage for great views - you can watch the peacocks on the lawn while you have breakfast! If you must leave the cottage, Fern Canyon, Prairie Creek Redwoods, several beaches, and the Humboldt State Marine Lab (for little or big guests) were a short drive away!

    Nat2020-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • The space was just right for what my husband and I were looking for on our getaway. The proximity to the ocean was such a special highlight, it was clean, cozy, and in such a great location! Would definitely book again in the future!

  • Everything was above and beyond! Our trip was perfect, we barely wanted to leave the property. Hot tub, Sauna, heated toilet, the VIEWS, the sea lions, the private trial and beach, all the little artistic treasures. Amazing. Curtis was kind and communicated great! He let us borrow his camera, since my girlfriend left hers. Also I left my glasses after check out and he is sending them back to me. Great place = Great Host Loved our stay, cannot wait to go back.

    Robert2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Curtis' place! The interior of the Airbnb is so quirky and cosy. The outside space too is breathtaking! The hot tub was a great touch and we loved being able to drink out morning coffee over looking the ocean. Highly recommended!

    Fay2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This space was amazing! Being able to see and hear the ocean while relaxing in the hot tub was magical. The view from the bed was amazing and a comfortable mattress. The path down to the beach required careful navigation, but was a hidden wonder itself. There is so much beauty to explore in the near vicinity....and this place was a perfect space to unwind after.

    Danielle2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The place is even more impressive in person and Curtis was a great host! Everything was amazing and we loved all the little touches and the prescriptive instructions to how everything worked, it made it so easy for us to relax and not have to worry about figuring things out. We would stay here again!

    Emilio2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great everything! All the comfort of home and such a unique stay.

    Brian2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a magical place with unique touches and surprises around every corner. Check in was easy and once we read all the instructions located in a binder, we had no trouble using any of the wonderful amenities. No other place we have stayed has had an outdoor shower, hot tub, sauna, and an incredible view! We loved the trail to the beach, complete with waterfall! It is truly special spot and we would love to return!

  • This place exceeds all expectations. Host is attentive and very friendly. We will return many times. A truly beautiful and very well appointed place to visit.

    Bernard2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was absolutely easy and beautiful. I highly recommend this as your number one choice. The recommendations were lovely, the view was great and the decor made us feel so cozy! Thank you Richard and Suzi for a wonderful and safe place to stay!

    Frances2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is amazing! The view is spectacular especially at sunset and sunrise. The hosts were so thoughtful and even had a bottle of wine waiting for us. I wish I could’ve stayed all week. We will definitely be back at some point. Side note: Brian from next door was incredibly friendly and helpful.

    Jessica2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • So going into this place I was t sure what to expect. We got delayed and Suzi was right on it making sure everything was still okay. We checked in next door and drove over to our cottage. It was dark by the time we got there so we didn’t have much of a view. We walked in a turned on the heater/fireplace and it was cozy inside. We woke up to a breath taking view!! This house is clean and easy to work but it was all about the view! I woke up each morning and just stared out the big beautiful windows for hours! We could hear seals and sea lions from the porch and could see them using the binoculars they left for us. Patrick’s Point is less than a mile away and there was food and gas stations 15-30 minutes away! We were sad to leave! This place was just beautiful! Thanks for sharing it!!

    Brittany2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful view of the crashing waves. Very friendly and helpful check in hostess. Beautiful place. Lot's of information on the surrounding area. Even included a book of the remodel of the cabin. Very informative. In general, a very peaceful get away location.

    Roger2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had such high hopes for this place, given the amazing reviews... and was not disappointed. This place is everything everyone says, and then some. Our welcome was warm and hospitable (thanks Brian!), the views were epic, the sunsets absolutely breath taking. The surrounding area is amazing as well. Ancient forests, endless views, an air of sacred ground. We had such an amazing time... Thank you again, and again.

    Ks2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous location for a weekend getaway or writers retreat. The views were incredible and the house itself was cozy and equipped with everything we could ask for. Richard and Suzi were flexible on our check in since we arrived later at night, and finding the place was pretty easy. Would absolutely recommend for the seaside views and proximity to Redwood National Park and other attractions around NorCal!

    Matthew2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Incredible place. One of the best I have ever stayed in. Such an amazing place in a wonderful location. Go see Brian at the Lost Whale next door. The food and people there are second to none.

Our cliff house has its west side almost all windows facing Pacific Ocean, natural wood siding, cabin look, quiet neighborhood, dead end road, newly built in 2016
    1300 square feet
Peaceful environment and friendly neighbors. But the cliff is 175 feet high. Don't get too close. You are responsible to your own safety.
  • Our group loved staying at Dale's place and would come back again in a heartbeat. Everything was taken care of and Dale was quick to respond if we need it anything. The house is beautiful and we loved watching the sunset over the ocean every night. We would stay here again and highly recommend, probably one of the best places we've ever stayed! We also loved that lots of toiletries were provided and that the kitchen had a lot of equipment to cook meals with. Finally we like that there was no TV and internet it let us really relax. Book now!!

    Emily2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home, with everything you need. Very thoughtful with the toiletries. There wasn’t a TV , not that you really need one with that Veiw!! I would defenatly stay again for longer :))))

  • This place is why I love Airbnb. We so enjoyed our stay at this house. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, this is your spot. The house sits just off the ocean cliff and is extremely quiet. The view is amazing and a beach walk is just a short distance from the house. We could have sat on the cliff and stared at the ocean for days. It is also very close to Redwood National Park. The house was very clean. With no WiFi or tv, it’s a great place to disconnect. We would love to come back someday!

    Gwendolyn2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

  • If you are looking for a secluded, stylish, comfortable, cabin home, then Dale’s place is for you! My best friend and I booked Dale’s home last minute and were pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the home was, how easy it was to locate at night, and the breathtaking ocean view. He communicated fast when we had questions and had great local suggestions on places to visit! Perfect location for stargazing and feeling far from the city. Loved sitting outside and being able to listen to the sounds of the ocean. Also close location to Big Lagoon park and the Redwood forest. We ate breakfast and got coffee in Trinidad which was conveniently nearby. We would return anytime, Dale’s is worth visiting if you are into unplugging and relaxing in nature, didn’t realize there was no WiFi, but had a fun time playing board games and relaxing with a good book.

    Morgan2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Dales place. The view is amazing and we loved all the extras the home had. Wish we could have spent more time here!

    Jessi2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • It's a bit pricey. But it's worth it!!!! A great house but a phenomenal setting. My husband and I decided to make our night on the road a special occasion, and Dale's place did not disappoint. Who can argue with a glass of wine and tapas during sunset over the ocean with the waves crashing below? And we saw whales! If you are tempted, go for it.

  • Incredible place to say in. Was secluded, if you're into that, and the place was very clean. The design, layout, and all the furnishings were amazing. Tons and tons of extras in the house. The hikes the host recommended were amazing. Highly recommend.

    Jacob2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give Carole's place 10 stars instead of just 5 for location, I would. The farmhouse is wonderfully located a hop, skip, and jump (just minutes!) from dozens of terrific hikes. The place itself is cozy and comfortable and made for a great home base for exploring the Redwoods.

    Anne2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This fairy tale house is perfect! Access to the redwoods and Praire Creek/Fern Canyon couldn’t be easier. The house was clean and comfortable. All amenities were easy to use and we wanted for nothing. The grounds are pretty, especially in spring and the nearby stream can be heard. We loved our stay and highly recommend!

  • Wonderful serene stay. Bring your waterproof hiking boots this time of year.

    Peggy Sue2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing place in an amazing location! Highly recommended, a perfect gateway to the Redwood parks

    Jacob2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This location is in the heart of the Redwoods Forest. Expect to be the only house in the area. I loved it. There are hikes literally in the back yard and across the street. Drive in to Trinidad for groceries though and make sure your tank is full. It is a great place if you want the outdoors experience.

    Robin2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the space. The location was perfect for our adventures of all the Redwood National and State Parks. We bought groceries for breakfast and lunch might have added some for dinner as well but it all worked out great. One morning the side yard was filled with Elk, so fun!!! The place was clean, cozy and very comfortable. Kitchen is very well stocked with equipment as well as some basic supplies like salt and pepper and some other spices which was nice. Would definitely stay here again for a Redwood adventure.

The Cabin is clean, cozy and very private. It's surrounded by woods and has a very large wrap around deck. The Cabin will accommodate up to six people. The living room offers a queen size sleeper sofa. It has a 46" flat screen TV with a DVD/VHS player, Dish TV with Sirius radio and Satellite Wi-Fi is provided. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. A full size kitchen and a cozy wood stove... we supply the wood! Dogs are considered. There is an additional $20 pet cleaning fee.
Surrounded by the beauty of California's northern forests, and the sounds of Smith River echoing through the landscape (during winter) this cabin is the perfect getaway to nature and seclusion. Inside is a smoke free environment and pets are considered. The Cabin is approximately 864 sq. ft. and will accommodate up to six guests on almost an acre of land, with a pond, and completely fenced for your privacy. Offering two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed and a 39" flat screen TV, and the other with a twin-over-queen bunk bed set (top bed has a 150 pound weight limit). The living room also boasts a queen-sized sleeper sofa, and there are additionally two bathrooms. The living room is a great spot in which to unwind, with a large flat-screen television with DVD/VHS player, Satellite internet, and comfy seating. A range of books, games, DVDs/VHS and Sirius radio are provided for entertainment. A fully-equipped kitchen (no dishwasher) allows guests to self-cater in style, with complimentary gourmet coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Outside, a spacious wrap-around deck is the perfect place to gaze over the forests full of local flora, with an outdoor grill for alfresco dining and cooking. The host provides many pantry items such as cooking oil and spices. Air conditioning and heating are featured throughout the cabin, which, along with a wood-burning stove, will keep things cozy in every season. And we supply the wood! A private washing machine and dryer will make even longer stays comfortable, and guests will also have access to a two car garage. All linens and towels are provided by the host, as well as shampoo, body wash and laundry detergent. The Cabin is in a remote area so cell phone reception is variable depending on your service provider and phone. There is a land-line and WiFi is also provided. There are many times when it's foggy at the coast but it's sunny at The Cabin! It's just a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive to the pristine Smith River. It’s the largest free-flowing (no dams) river in the state, producing the largest Steelhead and Chinook salmon. Dogs are considered, please tell me how many, how old and how large/small. No cats please. There is an additional $20 pet cleaning fee. From The Cabin it’s just 11 miles on scenic Hwy 199 to Redwood National Park and Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park. Some of the tallest trees in the world reside here and there are many trails to explore. Drive or bike through Redwood National Park on unpaved Howland Hill Rd. There are massive Redwood trees! Like the ocean? We’re only 22 miles away as you drive through the Redwoods and Crescent City. In Crescent City there is Battery Point Lighthouse. In fact, there are many lighthouses along the coast. There is a great view from these lighthouses to do some whale watching. Gray whales migrate from December through May. You may also see Orcas and Humpback whales. Northern California and Oregon have some of the most beautiful coastlines. Yet, on those foggy coastal days, Gasquet is usually in the sunshine. Great Fishing -- Along with Steelhead and Chinook, the Smith also has runs of Silver salmon, Coho and sea-run cutthroat trout. The Chinook runs start in late August, going through late December, with its peak in November. Steelhead starts their runs in early December and goes through March, with their peak in January. The Smith River flows through some of the most beautiful scenery in California. From Six Rivers National Forest through Jedediah State Park, people say that it’s hard to decide which is better, the scenery or the fishing.
  • Great cozy cabin surrounded by dense forest! We used it as a home base to go hiking in the Jedediah Smith park; it was a warm, comfortable respite to come home to. There were plenty of supplies to cook a full meal every night. The wood burning stove was our favorite part of the cabin!

  • There are a lot of options to stay in the Redwoods Forest and we’re so glad we picked this cabin by the Smith River. The location and river views were so beautiful and more than we could have expected. Diane’s cabin was perfect, homey, cozy, and warm. The stove fireplace came in very handy. Thank you Diane for being so responsive and accommodating and a perfect host.

    Mona2020-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • Our family had great time, while staying at Diane's place. As the cabin is located in the middle of mountain area, during the stay, it reminisced my summer camping during the youth. I gave max score, as I had very meaningful experience here. However, If I give some additional comment for the improvement. If the cabin provides better internet speed, it couldn't be any better. Download speed: 0.31 Mbps / Upload speed: 0.7 Mbps. However, it gave us better chance to read more books and play more games.

  • The Cabin was great - we had a thanksgiving meal here and the kitchen was fully stocked with cookware and utensils for our use. Beautiful home and location, would highly recommend to anyone!

  • We had a FANTASTIC time at Susan’s beach house. It was just as described; pleasant, clean and relaxing. We will be back!!

  • If you are looking for a special place with amazing views, this is the place for you.

  • Susan’s place sits on a cliff with a gorgeous view. We enjoyed our daily fires and view at the same time. Access to the beach was close. You can use the little private road or the Big Lagoon day use. The house was clean, warm, and comfy. We were able to bring our beloved dogs which was one of the reasons we chose Susan’s. We had never heard of Agate Beach and were amazed by the beauty of the beach and forest. We will definitely be back for a longer stay. Six days wasn’t enough. Thank you Susan.

Enjoy a cozy, warm inviting studio and be gently rocked to sleep by the sound of the ocean waves. A short walk to the beach and lagoon. Sea views from every window, the Cottage is located across the street from the ocean. Quiet and private space to relax and unwind. Visit the redwoods, hiking trails, lagoons and of course, the ocean and beaches, all from the comfort of this inviting little "Cottage by the Sea"
The neighborhood is very quiet. The most prevalent sound is the ocean waves.
  • Marea's place is perfect if you are in the area for spending time in the Redwood National Park. The park is just a 20 minutes drive from her beautiful home. The space is perfect and cozy for two people. In a compact area, Marea has packed it with all the amenities one may require, and yet it looks very spacious. The house is close to Murphy supermarket, a beachcomber cafe (charming breakfast/brunch place), and also to Larrupin Cafe, which is ideal for dinner. You have a lovely view of the ocean, and the beach is 5 minutes walk. The Check-in process was extremely smooth and easy. Marea was kind to stop by and say hello to us. It was a short trip, but we intend to return to her place soon.

  • This was my second time staying at Marea’s place, and I would gladly return again! Quiet, adorable little place tucked away along the Lost Coast. What more could you ask for?

  • This place was beautiful... close to the beach, close to parks, and perfectly set up. I hope it is available the next time I am in the area!

  • Marea’s cottage was absolutely perfect! The coziness of everything made coming home after a long day of exploring that much better. Not only was it a short walk to the beach but at night you could go outside and see all the stars perfectly. Marea was always great with communication and making sure our stay was amazing.

    Abigail2020-02-27T00:00:00Z

Approximately 260 sq ft, earth sheltered structure within our permaculture-based, sustainable, off-grid village. It is one of a kind in architecture and theme with colored bottles built into the wall, stained glass windows, center tree pillar with atrium windows above, and medieval Celtic Cross above the Hobbit Hole (outside and atop) give it a Hobbit Church feel.
This is a primitive cabin, it DOES have running water, but NO electricity (you bring your own candles BYOC). Common facilities (kitchen and bath) being shared with the larger community, about 200 yds away. *Just so everyone knows, during heavy rains in our RainForest winter months, sometimes the floor can get a little wet by the door. It doesn't really impede anything, but fyi. And understand, this is essentially a cave, so it can be damp in the winter. I recommend bringing an extra sleeping bag or borrow on of ours, OR bring some firewood (or you can use ours) as there is a wood stove inside next to the tempurpedic, round, Hobbit Love Nest Bed. Breakfast nook has a Hobbit mushroom table and there is a comfy sky chair suspended for luxuriating. Built into the side of a mountain with a seasonal spring (there are springs everywhere here in the mountainous rain forest) that runs through the house -- on purpose -- so there is often the sound of a babbling brook in the HH November thru May. If you are looking for a unique experience in a beautiful natural area and would like to experience life in an off-grid, sustainable, permaculture-focused ecovillage - and all the rough roads, dirt, mud, insects, messes, barking dogs, mosquitos, bees, mice, early morning roosters, communal living, composting toilets, ongoing construction projects in remote wilderness - then we invite you join us in our mountain village! Our property encompasses 160 acres of pristine natural wilderness in Northern California's beautiful Smith River canyon - home of the only un-dammed river in the state. Lush fern-encrusted hillsides slope down to countless spring-fed streams, teeming with wildlife, from cute caterpillars to (also cute, sometimes!) black bears. Accessible only by forestry road from scenic Redwoon Hwy (CA-199,) this is an opportunity to experience our responsible natural relationship with Mother Earth. This location is very beautiful and quite remote, so please be sure you've read through the full description and are prepared for certain elements of "roughing it" and adventure travel. The Village is also a work-in-progress so we are likely to be working and there may be construction, dirt, and messes around! Amenities: •Lighting / Electricity: Your cabin does not have electricity; we try to keep a flashlight, lantern, and/or candle available for your use -- but we recommend that you bring your own lights. •Kitchen: The outdoor kitchen, about 200yds away from the Hobbit Hole, has a small propane camping stove, and plenty of pots, pans, and utensils for your use. We do not have refrigeration but we do have a freezer (with ice packs) and coolers for storing food. •Bathrooms: We use composting toilets (buckets with seats); there is an indoor toilet in the bathhouse. Hot shower in the sauna/bathhouse. It is about 200 yds on average away from most of our cabins •(Lack of) Phone / Internet: Some Verizon and US Cellular service is available, but AT&T and T-Mobile do not service our area. We do not have wifi. The Great Outdoors: •Domestic animals: Between the three dogs who run around at night chasing forest creatures, springtime frog concerts, and the early-rising chickens, it is likely that there will be some animal noises occurring at unpredictable moments during the night and day. •Wild animals: There are various of these that live in the forest, including skunks, chipmunks, foxes, black bears, and many birds and insects. Since we have dogs and people around, the wild animals tend to keep their distance from the areas that we use. If you are lucky, you might spot a black bear on a hike; they are basically like big raccoons and prefer to run away from humans. If you are looking for a unique experience and up for rustic accommodations with a few off-grid perks, we welcome you to join us in our mountain paradise!
Our 160-acre property is surrounded by about a million acres of National Forest. Our neighborhood is all made of trees, huckleberry bushes and animals. We love it here. It is very remote, peaceful, and functionally sustainable in its focus. The closest neighbor is a Buddhist Hermitage about a mile up the forestry road. Also, supposedly, Sasquatch live here! (it is the epicenter for documented sightings) Most visitors to the area are interested in spending time in the redwoods – we are about 30-45 minutes from the nearest entrance to Jedediah Smith Park, home of Stout Grove and other beautiful redwood hikes. Driving into Crescent City, about 45-60 minutes, winds you right through the "gentle giants" on your way to or from Redwood National Park.
  • Awesome space, Dan is very kind, welcoming, I would definitely stay there again or in another building. Dans descriptions are accurate. Also the stars at night are something else ❤️

  • Couldn’t have asked for a better spot for a unique getaway. Everything was just as we were hoping for. During the day you enjoy spectacular views of vast mountains. At night, the stars seem to be within your grasp. It was truly beautiful.

    Jonathan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Unique and cozy space!

    Andres2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everyone we met in the village was warm and welcoming. Dan’s instructions on how to get there were on point. Definitely arrive in the daylight, we would have certainly been lost otherwise. Dan sends out great instructions and expectations. This is not a luxury getaway and he makes that clear. What it is, is an adventure off the grid in some peaceful woods. We stayed in the Hobbit Hole which was wonderful and very cozy. We would certainly entertain the other dwellings in warmer climates!

    Emily2020-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an INCREDIBLE and magic filled oasis - the journey in is just as exciting as the destination itself. Think inner child released, imagination run wild, and all the potential only asking to be tapped. For something so wild, everything was clean and amenities easily accessible. Do it. Do it now!

    Breanna2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 would recommend. This place is SO FREAKING COOL, an absolutely beautiful area, the views are awesome, and the village is just such a fantastic place (there are GOATS!) Dan's instructions on how to get there are really clear and the drive is super beautiful. Dan was easy to communicate with, the place was lovely and clean (honestly unbelievably clean especially considering it's a cave) the space is just incredible, great details, and really comfortable! Could not recommend highly enough!! (Also great job on the eco-ness of the place - I love it!)

    Stephanie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Don’t knock it till you try it! I would disclose that when I went with my partner, I didn’t read the information, saw the cheap price, and clicked right away as we were on a trip and looking for a place fast. But we were not disappointed, after we read the info we came prepared with firewood and some candle lights that we bought on the road. That being said, the house was such a great adventure! It was the most fun I’ve had in a while on a trip. We shuttered up and hunkered by the fireplace and just talked all night as we weren’t distracted due to no electricity or reception. Do come prepared, read the directions provided and do come with a spirit. Walk nicks trail! You would not be disappointed! Thanks Dan for letting us stay! We hope we can come back!

The cozy studio is right above the beautiful flowing creek in the small town of Happy Camp. We are surrounded by Wilderness areas, a true nature adventure paradise. With loads of hiking, biking and river rafting. So many rare plants, birds, fish and animals. A trail-head retreat with creek side relaxation. Between Redwood N.P. the Pacific Coast-Crater Lake N.P., Caves NM, Mt Shasta, the Salmon, Smith, Scott, Klamath 'Wild and Scenic Rivers'. Summertime swimming is best july to October. Enjoy!
The creek side studio and sun patio are right above the flowing creek with a bench and a picnic table. The kitchenette has a small refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate and tea kettle. The bathroom is up a few steps past the shower area all close to nature with much bird and water song. Our home is above. It has a separate entrance and there is ladder access to get down to the creek. This space is not accessible for most disabilities as there are stairs and a ladder. If you want to have time to hike the local trails you really need two nights to have enough time to get out for the day.
The small town is great for getting supplies for adventuring in our amazing wild and scenic area, this is a great place to lay over on route to the redwoods, or Crater Lake.. Mt Shasta is another destination. In other words get out in the National Forest! Go on adventures. Arrange a raft trip, kayak, mountain biking. Or just walk and sit by a clear creek. Let nature sink in. Gas, Market, pizza, deli, post office, bank, auto parts, Karuk Tribe museum, Forest Service office. Small town.
  • The place is absolutely perfect. Art has all the best local tips and tricks on hiking. I also felt such a warm sense of community and trust with Art. Just be careful because the area puts a magical spell on you making it hard to leave!

    Ian2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying at Art's place. Art was very hospitable and extremely helpful, and suggested we take our belongings from the studio when we went to the Redwoods the next day, in case of road closures and bad road conditions, and not being able to return. We're glad he advised us in this situation, or we would have been lost trying to come back in the evening. The listing is accurate, and very close to the creek and the outside bathroom is a cool experience.

    Udara2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Art's house is amazing. He's done great work building the downstairs himself. Highly recommended, especially in summer.

  • This was probably my favorite Airbnb experience so far. The home itself was comfy, cozy, and just big enough for us. It had everything we needed. The outdoor shower was amazing, too! Art and Lisa has breakfast stuff for us in the unit, and let us borrow a few extra things so we could cook dinner. They also gave us a hiking trail tip that was absolutely mind blowing. If Art suggests a spot, definitely follow his instructions - he does not steer you wrong!! We felt so lucky to experience their world and we can’t wait to come back again. :)

A newly renovated bungalow located in a quiet neighborhood in the historic city of Etna. A great location to start and end your days while enjoying the outdoor recreation and history of the area. Walking distance to downtown Etna with many eateries to choose from; Denny Bar Distillery, Paystreak Brewery, Main Street Bakery, Wildwood Cafe, Etna Brewing Co, Bob's Ranch House, South Fork Bakery and Dotty's Corner Kitchen. Or enjoy a relaxing treatment at Mountain Healing Spa.
The interior has been fully renovated with newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom, as well as new hardwood floors throughout and a modern decor. The exterior has plans for a new front porch and side deck coming soon!
The neighborhood is residential and quiet comprised of homes, both modern and historic and is a 10 minute walk to downtown Etna.
  • The place was perfect - quiet, clean, perfect amount of space for our family. The interior is stylish and modern, and very comfortable. We would definitely stay again in the future!

  • Patricia was easy to get in contact with, check-in and check-out was a breeze. The space is modern with a beautiful kitchen. Etna is lovely little mountain town and it’s a nice 10 minute walk to downtown from the house. Would recommend and stay again!

    Brian2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place was as beautiful in person as shown in the pictures. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen perfectly stocked, the bathroom had extras of almost anything you might forget (except toothpaste--which I did forget) and everything was just easy in this house. We went to Denny's and did a tasting tour of their distillery and really liked the female owner who showed us their distillation equipment and talked about their spirit making process. The food there was fantastic but we did wish we had made reservations--they were packed. There is a small bakery only a few shop fronts down from Denny's that had delicious and fresh croissants, pastries, and bacon sourdough bread among other special baked goods. My drive there did increase by an hour because Hwy 3 going south of Etna closed after I booked this place, so, pay attention to that if time is an issue. We felt safe and the locals all waved as we drove or walked by and were friendly and helpful. We were able to buy groceries at Ray's which was a few minutes from the house. The kitchen had all the tools we needed to cook. We were able to make a full dinner, sign into our amazon account on the TV, and watch a movie and enjoy some repose. This is a relaxing house, town, and area.

    Suzanne2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great little bungalow! The details are amazing and the hosts are great people. The place is well stocked and makes traveling to Etna simple and a great experience. The bungalow is cozy and inviting enough to stay in, but make sure you check out Denny Bar while in town...it's a hidden gem in downtown Etna.

Riverside cabins just inland from the Redwood Coast in a little-known corner of N. California with winding rivers, granite canyons, and majestic mountains waiting to be explored. The warm, sunny interior of the Klamath offers an alternative to the cool and foggy Redwood Coast, and you'll be far from the crowds. We can arrange a rafting trip, point you to a trailhead, or you can just relax by the river and explore on your own to see what you find. You won't be disappointed.
This riverside cabin comes with a full kitchen & linens, private bedroom, bathroom and a deck that looks over the Klamath River. Enjoy the view of the river from your private deck and sleep with your door open to the sounds of the river. The interior has a clean, aesthetically pleasing, rustic appeal of solid redwood interior with hardwood floors. The bedroom has a queen bed, and two more twin beds can be made in the common kitchen/living room area. Each cabin has identical floor plans, with the exception of Cabin 6, which is slightly larger, (it has a second bedroom with queen bed, and more windows facing the river). Pets welcome, as long as they can behave around our goats & chickens!
The Klamath Region is a remote corner of Northern California and Southern Oregon and a little-known vacation spot. Officially designated a Wild and Scenic River, the Klamath River encompasses two nationally recognized scenic byways. Miles of rivers and creeks offer world-class white water river rafting and kayaking vacation opportunities, as well as crystal clear pools for swimming and fishing. The Mid-Klamath offers some of the finest, yet least-known steelhead fishing on the West Coast. In sharp contrast to the "shoulder to shoulder" experience of the river mouth, seasoned anglers will be refreshed to find entire stretches of the Mid-Klamath River to themselves, and it's a great area for beginners as the chances are high of hooking fish. Opportunities abound for fly-fishing, bait and lures. You can fish from our own stretch of river bar, choose several nearby river access points, or take a drift boat tour. We work with expert drift boat guides who can put you right where the fish are. These local guides live and work on the Klamath River and know it intimately from years of experience. Situated in one of the largest tracts of remaining wilderness in the lower 48, the region's four Wilderness areas (Siskiyou, Marble Mountain, Russian and Trinity Alps) offer exceptional hiking. The Klamath Mountains are the cross roads of the West, where north meets south, the coastal range meets the interior Great Basin, and the Sierra Nevada meet the Cascades, creating a rich and unique region of endemic plants found nowhere else in the world. We're in a secluded spot, where the peace and quiet of the river and surrounding mountains are the main attraction. There are no restaurants in this area, each cabin has a fully equipped kitchen, so bring your own food. There are a few small country stores nearby that stock the basics.
  • Blythe and Mark have curated an excellent space. It was a pleasure to stay on their property, see their farm operations, and read about their local restoration work. They also have some adorable dogs that will absolutely come stare at you every time you cook.

  • Beautifully located cabins, great stay if you love nature

    Lucas2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cosiest cabin in the woods and near the river. Friendly people, dogs, chickens and goats. Beautiful starry nights, misty quiet mornings. Truly relaxing and magical. Get away from everything and connect to Earth and River.

  • For starters wow! I wanted to do something different and get out of town so I took my sister and my roommate up to Sandy Bar Ranch for a weekend getaway. Even though I wasn't aware of how many cabins were on the property and housing options it was still really nice and I felt like I was part of a community while I was there! Between the goats and the chickens and the three dogs that visited with us while we were there we felt so at home in just two short days we were in disbelief of this place! Don't hesitate just book!!!!

    Jailyn2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is the real deal! Location is amazing, hosts are friendly and helpful, goats/chickens/orchard is wonderful. Great experience, would love to come back and stay longer.

  • This was our second time staying at Sandy Bar Ranch. It’s such a gem of a place. Tucked away from the hustle bustle of the city, by the beautiful Klamath river- it’s truly a pleasure getting to spend time here. We will be back!

    Ahana2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • These are simple but nice hunting- or fishing-type cabins in a super-beautiful location, right on a river. There are lots of potential activities in the area and, surprising to me, a small but fancy grocery store at the end of their road. If you need this sort of thing (we did, alas), there is a pretty good Internet connection, even though the location is pretty remote. Blythe and Mark are great hosts, full of useful information, very friendly. I guess that to sound more reasonable I should say something critical, so here goes: their garden, just outside the cabins, is so fabulous that it will make most home gardeners feel inferior.

    Charles2019-06-27T00:00:00Z
  • Rustic and tranquil. Beautiful gardens and lovely goats. You can bring your dog and you can swim in the river. It is a place to unplug and recharge your emotional batteries.

If you are looking for a unique experience in a beautiful natural area and would like to experience life in an off-grid, sustainable, permaculture-focused ecovillage and all that a wilderness area has to offer -- rough roads, dirt, mud, insects, messes, barking dogs, mosquitos, bees, mice, early morning roosters, communal living, composting toilets, ongoing construction projects - then we invite you join us in our mountain village! Amenities: •Lighting / Electricity: Your cabin does not have electricity; we try to keep a flashlight, lantern, and/or candle available for your use -- but we recommend that you bring your own lights. •Kitchen: The outdoor kitchen, near your cabin, has a small propane camping stove, and plenty of pots, pans, and utensils for your use.
  • Wow! What a unique & excellent spot! In addition to the cozy cabin, the beautiful property, and friendly farm-family, we had the opportunity to spend time with the newborn goat and take the other goaties for a walk in the woods. Dan was a very friendly and knowledgeable host. 10/10 would recommend!

  • The best AirBnb experience I have had! I absolutely love the place and people!

    Dustin2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here as a get away, to unplug for a night and enjoy the serenity of the mountains. The views did not disappoint, the skies were clear and so we could see every star- absolutely breathtaking! We walked the short hike down Nicks trail- serenity trail, enjoying the babbling stream, and when we returned to the cabin, the wood burning stove was a must in the cold February weather ! Dan was pleasant and accommodating and we love love loved the animals! Happy the dog came to visit us in the evening and a sweet black cat came and sat in my lap by the fire for hours! My son enjoyed watching the chickens and goats too! As we were the only ones staying on the property we were allowed to look in all of the other cabins which was awesome! The witch’s hut was perfect for us as we were able to lay our 2 year old down for bed in the loft and my husband and I stayed up later by the fire downstairs. Things I would note if you’re skeptical: this is a rustic cabin- you will have no cell service, limited power, the toilet is shared between cabins and is composting (ie a bucket with sawdust), it is a working homestead/ community so there will be construction, gardening, general work going on but everyone was super friendly! lastly bring what you will need as there weren’t utensils or other items like that for us to use, I’d also recommend candles and headlamps! These were all things that we were expecting and looking forward to, I.e. and unplugged night alway from “the city”. We can’t wait to go back in the spring when the garden is flourishing and perhaps we can use the swimming hole!

  • Thanks for having us! We loved the Witches hut. It’s quiet, cozy and full of character. We took Dan’s advice and arrived before sunset. This really helped us get the lay of the land. Cheers!

  • Great jumping off point to explore the redwoods. We stayed in the witches hut - I like this one because it is closest to the communal kitchen and bathroom. It heats easily with a small wood stove and there is a pile of wood outside the cabin ready for splitting. The village is well organized and everything works - the showers were hot and the cooking facilities were great. Bring all your food with you as there is nowhere to buy groceries nearby. The water there is amazing. We found a helpful sheet in the communal kitchen describing an amazing trail through J Smith park to the Boy Scout tree - it is off an unmarked path on the way to fern falls - we would not have found it without Dan. If you aren’t afraid of driving on dirt roads, can cook and can make a fire and split wood than this is the place for you. Truly a unique experience.

  • Certainly not your typical airbnb, but a lovely experience for those looking for a bit of adventure and seclusion in the beauty of the landscape. The drive in and out was dicey for our small city car; we took it really slow and were relieved to make it out. The space was charming and we enjoyed meeting the other guests staying on site. Thanks, Dan for sharing in the fruits of your labor.

  • I stayed in the witch's hut for two nights in mid December, I'll try to give a description of my experience. Dan has spent over a decade creating this village (it deserves the title) with the help of others in the spirit of Maitreya (friendship). The state of the village on the edge of 2020 was extraordinarily impressive. It is clear that an astounding amount of work was put into this community; all of the buildings (I saw the interior of most) are crafted with loving attention to detail and a playful creative spirit. As you stay in these building you will feel the incredible amount of care and effort that went into the construction of each one. Each building I visited was spectacular, but the Witch's hut in particular taught me that I had never before in my life known what it truly meant to be cozy. It was raining and so I rarely left the hut, but I didn't even mind, it was so comfortable to stay and work in. Thomas Jefferson would undoubtedly be proud of America if all he saw of the future was the agrarian village of Maitreya: a community of friends living and thinking as independently as possible. I personally used these two nights to write, and so found it perfect, but I warn that this place is not for everyone. If you want to be pampered, if you don't like losing access to internet, if you don't like animals, if you don't like losing modern amenities (there is a composting toilet, welcome to nature!), you should find some other establishment.

    Brian2019-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a rustic experience, but 100% worth it if you're into that.

  • Honestly, this was one of the finest Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in. To begin with, it’s in tiny Klamath, California- a very small town close to everything perfect: The Redwoods, amazing hiking trails, the beach, and a variety of vistas to watch the sunset. It’s just a mile off 101- perfect! The place was so clean, and it smelled so fresh and inviting. Three bedrooms- full kitchen and great water pressure for a nice hot shower after a long hike. The kitchen has a cabinet full of spices! There was fire wood for the wood burning stove and for the pit outside. Sally and her husband are amazing hosts! They have three goats that my children loved to visit with and pet. Sally brought some fresh warm blackberry cobbler with ice cream, and it was heavenly. Sally definitely had great local tips- we took her up on every one of them, and they did NOT disappoint! Honestly, it’s perfect. We want to be back already. Leaving was hard. This place is a hidden treasure. You’ll be happy when you walk through the door and rested and satisfied when you leave.

  • Sally’s place was really wonderful. We were only there a night, but it was great! She truly has thought if everything. Fresh eggs, bagels, pancake mix—so thoughtful. So many coffee and tea choices for her Keurig. The living room seating area was very comfortable. We were three adults traveling together, all single, so the ability to have three separate bedrooms was awesome!! When we arrived, Sally came to greet us and have us GREAT recs for hiking and places to see. She told us about the best eating establishment in the little town of Klamath (and it had GREAT burgers). Her place is in a valley so it is incredibly quiet and dark. At night the stars are so bright and vivid—just gorgeous. She’s created a new fire pit area. We didn’t use it—just too tired. But it will be perfect for those that aren’t! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are grateful she hosted us during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 period. Though it was the perfect place to enjoy and practice social distancing. Thank you for your kindness, Sally!

  • Sally was a superb host and her home was absolutely wonderful! She knows the area and its history like ‘the back of her hand’ and she went above and beyond to accommodate us, to make many recommendations and to make sure that our stay was everything we hoped for. Her home is also in a perfect location for exploring the Redwoods, the Pacific Ocean & the Klamath River. It is sparkling clean, beautifully decorated with a homey, cozy cabin feel...we loved the interior, especially all of the thoughtful touches and the wood stove (which was stocked and ready to light when we arrived). She also stocked the house with practically everything (from kindling & wood, to. condiments, food storage bags, candy, laundry soap, bathroom essentials including toothbrushes, coffees & tea, creamers, butter, spices etc.). We can’t say enough about her place! Oh and its absolutely worth booking for at least two nights, just so that you can try her homemade blueberry cobbler and ice cream...Absolutely delicious! :-) Thank you so very much for everything, Sally! ~Many Blessings~

  • Sally's place was an amazing stop on our way up to Washington. Her place had everything we needed and more with added touches such as breakfast, coffee bar, and her amazing cobbler woth ice cream. My family and I felt at home for two days which is hard to get when you travel.

    Natasha2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place! Comfortable and relaxing! Wonderful host who made it feel like home with the added special touch of fresh cobbler on our last day. If we are ever back in the area we will for sure stay here again. Thank you for the awesome stay!

  • Me and 3 buddies wanted to get away for a weekend to explore the redwoods. We booked this cottage and it exceeded our expectations. Very clean place with thoughtful touches and a few surprising sweets (loved the jelly bellies and chocolates!). Fresh coffee, bagels, and a variety of breakfast choices. Sally was very kind. She made us a delicious berry cobbler with vanilla ice cream which was one of the highlights of our trip! Check in and out was easy. I appreciated the variety of travel brochures in the cottage. This helped a lot with planning our hikes the next day. The place can sleep 6, there were only 4 of us so it was even more comfortable. Would definitely come back to explore again.

    Joshua2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a gem. Super Clean. Spacious. The cobbler was warm and delicious. We couldn’t wait for it to cool down and demolished it in minutes. The goats were cute and friendly. My kids loved them. There is room to explore and run around. We were glad to come to this cottage at the end of our day and relax by the fire. We all slept comfortably and were glad to have plenty of coffee and breakfast choices in the morning. We loved this place!

  • Amazing hospitality! My trip started out with getting lost and stuck but the people at the mountain village took great care of me. Dan even pulled my car out of the mud for me with his truck. The village is serene, well-kept and welcoming. An ideal location to reconnect with natural and slow your pace of life. Just a precaution from someone who had serious trouble finding the location. Make sure you have good traction tires, arrive during daylight, and follow the instructions carefully on how to get there. Here are my super simplified instructions once you turn on Little Jones Creek Road off Hwy 199: 1. Follow Little Jones Creek road a couple miles until you reach a fork. 2. TURN RIGHT AT THE FORK onto the DIRT ROAD with the sign saying 17N08 3. Drive a couple miles until you see the SMILEY FACE SIGN on a tree and a traffic cone. TURN RIGHT. 4. Keep going and you can't miss it. And like it says in the directions definitely do not follow your phone's directions. You will end up in a scary place further up 17N05 with signs like "Beware of Owner" with a gun pointing at you.

    James2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • Maitreya Mountain Village is an incredibly beautiful off the grid place. We loved our 3 nights in the tree house. Even though the weather was a bit nippy, we were warm and cozy due to plenty of covers. Being able to breath in the fresh mountain air, gaze at the stars and moon, listen to the babbling brook, and watch the mist rise from the valley floor was magical. And we loved being able to participate in some of the life of the village. Seeing the milking, feeding, and care of the goats, as well as the making of cheese was especially cool. Loved also drinking the pristine water, the conversations with the volunteers, and hearing about their world experiences. The common space with kitchen facilities and wood stove was great for after dark. We appreciated that the road in was good and not at all a problem for my Pontiac Vibe. We hope to return soon.

  • This is truly a cozy cabin in the woods destination. It is definitely remote, so if you are not comfortable being away from a town then it might not be the best location for you. However, if you enjoy being alone in the woods then this is the perfect cabin for a couple or a small family. We literally drive past a herd of deer less than 5’ from us when we were going down the long private driveway. Tip, you should definitely drive a truck or SUV to get to this location, the private driveway is a dirt road that isn’t exactly well kept, lot of pot holes and mud puddles. We woke up to a deer just hanging out in the side of the cabin. This is an awesome location for stargazing at night.

  • The people with Vacasa California have made the complete experience absolutely memorable. While booking the place, a mistake was made on my side, but I was easily and promptly able to communicate with them and get it solved; off to a good start. The instructions to reach and get in to the house were clear, and the place was even better than the pictures. The amenities in the house were really thought out and made the trip even better. We wanted to relax and enjoy a quiet trip. We were able to sit outside on a "bench" right next to a small creek in the back yard. We were able to stay cozy on a couch and just watch TV, they had bunch of streaming services. The Redwoods were basically 20 minutes away. Additionally, go see Fern Canyon if you're here, you won't regret it; especially the Jurassic Park fans. Really, it was a great trip, we cannot wait to plan it again and could not recommend it more!

We were lucky enough to see a large herd of elk in the meadow at the entrance of the private drive on our last day. We’d definitely stay here again!

  • The cabin was amazing, it's a nice, quiet and beautiful place. It has everything you need for comfortable stay including parking spot right next to the house, all needed kitchen amenities and even TV with blu-ray player. This cabin is located just 12 minutes from Thomas Kuchel Visitor Center where you can get all needed information regarding Redwoods National and State Parks. Also it's just 1 mile from the nearest place (but we found few other spots along 101 highway) where you can observe wild elk, we've seen them almost every day during our stay. The nearest relatively large city is Eureka, it's about 40 miles from the cabin and it even has Costco store and gas. The only problem we faced during our stay was the very low speed of Wi-Fi internet connection, it's been always no more than 1-2 Mbs, so I would recommend having mobile data available if you need to use internet there. Everything else was great and we had an outstanding experience, I would definitely recommend this place to a friend or stay again!

  • Expect a peaceful, tranquil and fully (+very well) equipped vacation when you stay here. The spacious and comfortable accommodation is perfectly placed as a touring base - we stayed for 5 days and filled each day with trails and watching nature. It was a perfect end to each day, to come back here, cook, eat and settle back for the evening. Good choice!

  • This cabin was perfect for our weekend getaway! It was absolutely adorable, and much bigger than we expected - my husband and I didn’t even go in 2 of the 3 bedrooms, we had plenty of space. Lots of games, dvds, hot tub, and extras like oatmeal and tea that were nice touches. We had an amazing time and saw some beautiful hikes just down the street. We would love to visit again.

  • The pictures do this place no justice! Spacious, fit my partner and kid easy. Full kitchen, comfy bed, living room with an amazing wood burning stove/ fireplace. Step out onto the deck in the morning to hear cows get herded and see horses tucked between two major mountain peaks. Host was reachable and I guess the neighbor but stuck to herself (didn’t see her once) but made it known she was there if I needed help or needed anything. Just the way I like it. Full send on this cabin. Especially if you are trying to detox from city life like I was.

  • We had a great visit at the Hunter Creek site. It was so quiet, and the home was immaculate. Everything we needed, and could want was there-fresh flowers, coffee, bagels, fresh eggs, cozy spaces. Tom checked in with us a couple of times to make sure our questions were answered. We explored the Redwoods and the coast. A relaxing break from reality!

    Karen2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The place was clean, neat, roomy and nicely decorated. The wood stove was already lit for us when we arrived which made it even more homey feeling. Having breakfast food provided was a real convenience and everything was fresh and tasted great. We’ve been on a long trip so appreciated being able to do laundry as we watched movies on Amazon during the evenings. We will definitely return if we make it out this way again.

  • This place is a hidden GEM! 💎 I don’t know where to start, there are so many great things to say. Location: It’s the perfect location for Redwoods, Klamath River, Beaches, Crescent City... it’s close to everything. It’s only like 3 minutes off of 101. Safe neighborhood that is good for taking morning & evening walks. We loved the HUGE fenced yard for our German Shepherd. The deck was nice to sit on.Its nice and sunny too, not foggy. Like a little pocket of sun in the fog. The house was very clean and had all the amenities you need. It was warm with the heaters and cozy with the fire. We loved the organic eggs and the drinks and all the other goodies that the hosts left us. We even went down the road to their farm and got to meet all their animals. Pig, ducks, chickens, dogs, horses. 🥰 We can’t wait to come back. 👍🏼👍🏼

    Jennifer2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended! This place was just what we needed while traveling down the coast. These people are the best Airbnb hosts I have ever experienced; from farm fresh eggs waiting in the fridge for breakfast, english muffins, bagels, homemade jam, drinks, etc....they even had the wood burner all set up for us to light-when my husband opened the door to it he found the kindling already stacked with some paper so all he had to do was light a match and bam the fire was going. They left no detail untouched. They really do care about their guests and you get that feeling as soon as you walk in the door. The mobile home was very inviting and cozy, as well as sparkling clean. The spacious yard was great for our dogs, too. They even had a doggie water dish filled with fresh water outside waiting for my pups! I would definitely stay here again! This place is fabulous!

If you're looking for the perfect setting for a memorable getaway, this beautiful farm home with ocean and beach views is calling your name! Outdoor enthusiasts will love Prairie Beach Home is it's located on 10 acres with an inviting grassy field surrounded by forests, so tranquility is assured. Gather around the firepit with your friends, roast s'mores, and share hilarious and engaging stories while admiring the scenery, or wind down in the living area while watching TV. Take advantage of the fully-equipped kitchen and treat your friends or family to savory meals or use the private gas grill to channel your inner grilling master and prepare tasty grilled meals that you can enjoy on the outdoor dining area. What's nearby: When you come here you are stepping off the busy freeway of life and entering a quiet, serene, natural setting and you decide how you want to spend your days. You are truly surrounded by thousands of acres of quiet beaches, streams, creeks, trails, lagoons, Redwoods, and the Pacific Ocean with infinite possibilities of outdoor fun. The Freshwater Lagoon is five miles south and features miles of dunes and a boat launch area for boaters and kayakers. You'll be just south of the National Redwood Park, which boasts camping sites, scenic hiking and biking trails, wildlife watching, and more! Fun annual events held locally include the Orick Rodeo which takes place in the summer, as well as the Yurok Tribe's Sumeg Village Day, a celebration of the local Native American culture held at nearby Patrick's Point State Park. Things to know: Full kitchen Free WiFi You must be 25 years or older to rent this property. A damage waiver, covering up to $2,000 of accidental damage to the property or its contents, is included in the cost of your reservation.
Once you turn off of highway 101 onto Hufford, the environment becomes rural very fast. The road to the home is a cross between paved and gravel, and a good portion is one lane, so you may need to yield to oncoming traffic. There are the occasional potholes now and again, so please drive slowly. Every once in a while, a curious cow may have escaped its pen, so keep this in mind when going around curves, that this area is the home to livestock, children, and the occasional wandering pet. The Prairie Beach Home is a destination home for those wishing to spend quality time with loved ones in a natural environment, away from the busy city life. Cell phone service and wifi at the home is good, but there is little to no service between Crescent City and Orick and between Orick and Trinidad, and probably no service while hiking on trails or at the beach. From the home, there are stunning views of pastures, and on a clear day you can see the river meet the ocean. Despite appearances, the walk to the ocean isn’t bad, just be careful of traffic on the single lane road. A walk down the yard and roads will lend itself to vegetation and berries (depending on the time of year). Sometimes you will see deer grazing right there in the yard and pastures. Due to the rural environment, some people have seen skunks, raccoons, bear, and wild cats. These are all wild animals, and as amusing and beautiful as they may be, please view from a distance and do not feed them. The town of Orick market is roughly 1 1/2 miles from the home. You will find a post office, the Palm Café (known for their pies), Edebee’s (lunch and dining), and the Shoreline deli where you can fill up with gas and get a deli sandwich to take with you hiking, all in the town there. There are three burl shops in town. While in town itself, may seem a bit run down, please visit the burl shops. There are some talented and beautiful pieces to be found. A short drive north will take you to the Redwood National Forest and the Prairie Creek State Park. As short drive south and you will head to the Lagoons and beach. Stop at Kayak Zaks and rent a kayak or paddle board for the day and hang out on the lagoons or visit the City of Trinidad, 22 ½ miles south of Orick. Trinidad is a small scenic beach village with several dining establishments such as the Larrupin Café (a must! You will need a reservation), the Lighthouse Grill, Seascape Restaurant, Headies Pizza, The Eatery and Gallery, the Moonstone Winery Tasting Room and Murphy’s Market for grocery shopping. You will also find some cute shops like the Trinidad Trading Company and Windansea Gift Shop where you will find the perfect souvenirs before leaving the area. If you can squeeze it into your stay after days of hiking and elk watching, walk Trinidad Head, and drive down Scenic Drive in Trinidad for famous views of Luffenholtz, Camel Rock and Moonstone Beach. Be sure to look for the whales in the Spring and Fall and enjoy the lazy sea lions which are out all year. Just a reminder, this northern coast of California is quite rural, so be prepared to be disconnected from technology from time to time and prepare your maps and guides ahead of time. Welcome to our corner of the world, and enjoy!
  • Cannot beat the location and the view. Wake up and sip on coffee watching the waves on the beach in the distance. A grill outside also with the same view. A fire-pit to have a good chat with friends on a cold evening while breathing in fresh air. Interiors also furnished very nicely. Also very close to several beautiful hiking trails among the redwoods. Couldn't ask for more.

  • This is a spacious, clean home, with a well stocked kitchen and a fire pit. We bought firewood at the grocery store in Orick. It is located in the country, just a few minutes from Orick, so is very quiet. The location is perfect for hiking in Redwood National Park.

  • Great quite place surrounded by awesome views.

    James2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • You can't quite tell exactly how nice this place is by the pictures. It was way more than we expected. Very comfortable. Nice and roomy for 4 people (though only one bathroom, but who cares when you're with friends?). Great view. Nice walk to the ocean. So close to the redwoods, the state park, the national park, and other trails. And a leather chair that I couldn't get out of and wasn't too inclined to share. Although it doesn't say in the description, the house has everything you need, so bring your food and don't worry about the rest. The knives were even passably sharp. And there's a grill. Nice folks at Redwoods Coast Vacation Rentals. I'm definitely going back.

Woodland Villa is the perfect jumping off place to explore the beauty of the Redwood Forest. You’ll love my place because it is a cozy cabin "Where the Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean in the Heart of the Redwood Forest". It's wonderful for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (dogs only) We allow a maximum of 2 dogs per cabin. A one time $20 dog fee is charged for 1 dog, $30 for 2 dogs. Dogs are not allowed to be in the Cabin unsupervised.
We are 60 miles North of Eureka, CA and 45 miles South of the Oregon border. Almost dead center between San Francisco and Portland. My Cabins are clean, cozy & comfy. I strive to make my guests to feel at home.
  • Clean, small room that was perfect if you don't spend a lot of your day there. There were bigger cottages but that wasn't what we were looking for. We went out every day hiking and the place was perfect for us to relax in the evenings, kicking back watching TV.

  • Sharon's cabin was the perfect over night stay after a long drive along highway 101. Check in and check out was super easy, simple, and stress fee. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable! The market had delicious coffee and breakfast for my next morning breakfast before another long road trip. Would stay there again!

  • It’s an ideal, simple place to go back to after a full day in the forest. Breakfast was great every morning. The room was the perfect size for 1-2 people. I was there by myself so it was more than enough room. The beds are COMFY. Shout out to those comfy beds ha! There are fire pits and grills on site so it was great having a fire every night. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to the redwoods

    Sean2019-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was a nice little find to relax and rest while hiking and traveling around the redwoods.

    James2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed at Sharon's place for one night during our road trip down the West Coast. The cabin was simple, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a short stay. We checked in with a gentleman at the store/restaurant and also encountered a young lady who worked there - both were really friendly and helpful.

    Marina2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic place, right in the heart of the Redwood Forest. We thought it was going to be on the outskirts, but it was RIGHT THERE. The folks at the cafe were super nice and breakfast was delicious. The cabin was sparkling clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable and warm. Our host made it totally easy to check in and park. I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Open the sliding doors and enter the home to an unexpected living space, suited for relaxation and comfort, with the bare basic amenities one would need. There is an another upstairs rental, and while guests claim they never see each other, take a moment to say Hello if you do. You never know what new friendships may develop. This home is a destination home with little to no cell service and connectivity, but rather is a place to enjoy, relax and connect with nature. Easy access on and off the highway, the yard lends itself to trees, vegetation and berries (depending on the time of year). Sometimes you will see Elk grazing right there in the yard and meadow. People often and park and admire the beautiful creatures from the road, and that can be just as entertaining to watch as the wild animals themselves. Despite the occasional onlooker, the property is quite peaceful. From the rear, left or right side of the property, there are trailheads to be found, either by walking or by car. A laminated list can be found inside the home for your use. If asked in advance, we can also email a copy to you, too. The town of Orick is just 2.5 miles south of the home. You will find a post office, a tiny market, the Palm Café (known for their pies), Edebee’s (lunch and dining), and the Shoreline deli where you can fill up with gas and get a deli sandwich to take with you hiking. A short drive north will take you to the Redwood National Forest and the Prairie Creek State Park. As short drive south and you will head to the Lagoons and beach. Stop at Kayak Zaks and rent a kayak or paddle board and hang out on the lagoons for the day or visit the City of Trinidad, 22 ½ miles south of Orick. Trinidad is a small scenic beach village with several dining establishments such as the Larrupin Café (a must!), the Lighthouse Grill, Seascape Restaurant, the Eatery, the Moonstone Winery Tasting Room and Murphy’s Market for grocery shopping. You will also find some cute shops like the Trinidad Trading Company and Windansea Gift Shop. The perfect places to grab a few souvenirs before leaving the area. If you can squeeze it into your stay after days of hiking and elk watching, the ocean views off of Scenic Drive in Trinidad are worth the stop and be sure to look for the whales in the Spring and Fall. Keep in mind that this northern coast of California is quite rural, so be prepared to be disconnected from technology from time to time. Roads are often gravel and one lane, so do not be surprised if you end up somewhere that you may need to yield to oncoming traffic. You will be engulfed in the beauty of nature and wildlife. Welcome, and enjoy!
  • We absolutely loved our stay! The loft was in the perfect location and we were able to walk to many amazing trails. It was an easy drive to the Fern Canyon Trail and surrounding towns. The loft itself is just perfect; we loved coming back after a long hike and getting cozy by the fire. We will definitely be back.

  • This is a gorgeous place to stay, and perfect for hiking! There are multiple trails right off the property, as well as the amazing Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park just a five minute drive away. The space was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. I really enjoyed my stay and was disappointed to leave!

    Tim2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • We love it here! We will love to come back soon!

    Martina2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic space, no better place to stay when traveling to the redwoods and prairie creek!

    Cory2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We spent two nights in the “loft” space. As per previous reviews - the house is right off 101. But the traffic is basically non existent after 10 pm. The loft bed is very comfortable. We love being so close to the parks and hiking trails. The Glen Berry trail that starts just feet from the house is amazing! We had two great low key dinners in Trinidad- at the Lighthouse Grill and the pizza place. Both are right next door to Murphy’s Market that had everything else we needed.

Guests have described it here as tranquil, relaxing, rejuvenating, an opportunity to get away from cell phones, a romantic place & 'a place where peace is cultivated'. We have two listings: a guest house and a cabin. This listing is for the guest house.
We provide comfortable lodging in our guest house in Burnt Ranch, CA and a wooded, relaxing property. The guest house is away from the main house in a separate building right next to the garden and has private access. The bathroom is a short walk down a lighted path. Please read below for a complete description of the space and check out our 5-star reviews. Note: We also have a cabin to rent with a kitchenette and bathroom ensuite. (See our other listing called "Trinity River Cabin Hideaway".) The guest house does not have a bathroom or sink inside it and only limited kitchen-type appliances. Burnt Ranch is located about an hours drive inland (East) from Highway 101 (Arcata/Eureka) and about 2 hours West of Redding - WHERE GPS AND ONLINE MAPPING PROGRAMS ARE NOT ACCURATE. (You must follow our written directions!). We are at 2000' elevation, on a creek, in the mountains of the Trinity River Valley. The guest house has two beds in the partitioned room, one queen and one three-quarter size (smaller than a full and larger than a twin) which doubles as a couch/daybed. The guest bathroom, with laundry facilities, is located about 140 feet down a lighted gravel path next to the main house. There is no bathroom in the guest house. The guest house has a microwave, a coffee maker, a small refrigerator and dishes/cups/glasses/flatwear only. There are no other kitchen facilities (and no restaurants nor stores near by). A propane barbecue grill is available for use outside. The barbecue does have a single burner/cooktop and there are a couple of small pots and pans available for use. Our garden & orchard produces vegetables and fruit Summer through Fall and if we haven't left you a fresh garden treat in your room, guests are welcome to harvest their own treats (grapes, apples, tomatoes, berries, peaches....) when they are in season. Deer, raccoons, jack rabbits, squirrels and fox frequent our property. Trails meander through our wooded 6 acres. Many species of native wild flowers have been identified on our property as well as many species of birds. We're located about 10 minutes above the beautiful Trinity River which affords opportunities for swimming, fishing, kayaking and rafting. A popular rock climbing area is near by. Within 30 minutes is the Hoopa Indian Reservation where you can experience their museum and culture. Within about an hour drive you can visit the coast where the Coastal Redwoods and Humboldt State University are located along with fine dining, museums, deep-sea fishing, golfing, surfing, movies and shopping. The temperature in July can range from 95F during the day to 50F at night. During the summer we enjoy warm afternoons and evenings, but it usually cools down at night. The fall colors are beautiful and in the winter it's not unusual to have snow and temperatures dipping into the low 30s. We experience the beauty of all four seasons.
We live in a very rural area and up a hill. Our 6 acres are forested. If you go exploring you will see a few neighboring homes and properties.
  • It was a beautiful space with a great garden to sit in. We loved it! It was like a perfect retreat in the mountains and trees.

    Tristynn2020-03-03T00:00:00Z

  • Mike and Sarah’s place is so peaceful and serene. Had some of the best sleep of my life, it is so quiet and the beds are so comfortable! We spent our days reading in their beautiful garden or hiking nearby with the help of their local instructions that were provided. They have three fun outdoor cats that love to stay hello during your morning coffee! Mike and Sarah are so welcoming, willing to help with anything. Would definitely recommend staying here and would love to return sometime!

    Veronika2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • It was everything thing we expected and more. Mike and Sarah were very thoughtful and responsive. They provided everything we could have needed. Plus, the place is extremely peaceful and perfect for a low-key getaway. Highly recommend!

    Kyle2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Good place to stop by, if you wait you'll see some deer near the house.

    Hugo2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • This place is adorable. I was only there for a quick stop over and wish I could have stayed longer to explore more. I arrived after dark, but they gave great directions so it was easy to find. The room was super cute, and just what we needed. It was great to have the BBQ available and nice sitting space outside to enjoy the clean night air. In the morning, I took a quick peek at the gardens and property, all of which were lovely. The whole property seemed really well thought out and well done. I'd definitely recommend this gem!

    Pamela2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing little getaway spot, beautiful property. We will defenately refer Mike and Sarah's place to our friends and family and look forward to another stay in the future.

    Dave2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • My visit was very brief, but this was a comfortable and convenient place to land for one night before I embarked on a backpacking trip in the Trinity Alps. I took a little stroll around the beautiful property, and enjoyed reading under the fruit trees in the garden.

Peach Orchard Cottage- Quaint cottage nestled in a fruit orchard, near the beautiful Trinity river. The cottage is set in a quiet pastoral setting that borders always green pastures. There is a seasonal garden lot by the House as well as an orchard where guests can pick fruit in season. The surrounding view is of a breathtaking forested Trinity Mountains. Come enjoy the fresh air and clear stars.
The Peach Orchard Cottage is located on a spacious ranch in Hawkins Bar, CA by the beautiful Trinity River, one of the most beautiful rivers in California. It has a nice living room area on the main floor with a couch, WIFI, SMART TV with Netflix access, a fully stocked kitchen, a full bathroom with a tub shower, and a private bedroom with a full bed. For additional sleeping, we have a low ceiling loft to sleep in upstairs with a sleeping pad. You will love this rural, pastoral setting with fruit orchards and livestock. You are a short 3 minute drive or 20 minute walk to the local Trinity Village river spot for swimming and fishing. The Peach Orchard Cottage is a wonderful country escape where one can see the stars and Milky Way in a whole new way! Peach Orchard Cottage has two years of satisfied guests and we have received many five star reviews. Due to a change in management, we have had to create our listing from scratch so this is the newest listing for our property. This area is generally fire safe. When we do experience power outages, we provide a generator for powering the whole house during the daylight hours. If you are traveling with another couple, there is another rental 200 yards away on the farm called the Creek Cabin of Hawkins Bar that can be rented at the same time.
The Peach Orchard Cottage is located in the Trinity Village Subdivision which has a private local swimming hole. There also is a local Pub called the Rockslide across the river. The neighboring area of Salyer is 5 miles away with a small store and a small town called Willow Creek is 10 miles away with a coffee shop, hardware store, local museum and Riversong Organic Grocery Store. Weaverville is a historic gold-mining town that is 50 miles to the east where the Trinity Alps are located. The coast where Arcata and Eureka are about 1 hour's drive away.
  • The Peach Orchard Cottage was great! The place was spotless, stylish and very pleasant overall. This is a great choice if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, as it is nestled on a working farm. Also, round of applause for Elena because she is an amazing host.

    Kathleen2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here while working in the area. The cottage is located in a charming, peaceful setting. It was clean, convenient, and comfortable. I will look this cottage up first if we return.

    Gregg2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • It’s so peaceful here. Private but not isolated. My favorite part was having coffee on the deck outside and being surrounded by trees and layers of mountains. Hubby liked the blue jays and lil tribe of quails roaming outside. Beautiful spot to disconnect (WiFi is slow but we didn’t mind). Would recommend and visit again.

    Anna2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • This rental was a delight! The farm is a working farm, with fruit orchards, cows and chickens, many birds and other wildlife in full view from every window and porch. The space itself was impeccably clean and modern, had every amenity we needed, plus a gracious basket of seasonal apples, pomegranates and kiwis for us to eat. We were even offered a tour of the farm and gifted a quart of delicious raw milk and a dozen eggs. Our stay was short, at the year's end, so the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, not a soul in sight. We wandered down to the beautiful beach on the Trinity River, exclusive for homes in the immediate neighborhood---very private. We hope to return to the area and swim in warmer weather!

    Wendy2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great place

    Kalyan2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Peach Cottage is the perfect getaway! We appreciated the small touches like the fresh fruits and vegetables. This was our second trip to the ranch and we'll definitely be back.

    Emilie2019-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is the perfect getaway cottage from the businesses of life. Located right off 299 surrounded by mountains and fruit trees. Cottage is well equipped with everything you need, it is very thoughtfully decorated. Our toddler enjoyed running around outside chasing birds and picking apples. Elena and other families who live around the area are very helpful and friendly. We would definitely try to go there again sometime.

My place is close to The Orca Suite is close to family-friendly activities, the airport, Patrick's Point State Park, Prairie Creek State Park, Redwood National Park, 10 public beaches, 5 local rivers and 2 miles from gourmet cuisine.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and big groups.. You’ll love my place because of the neighborhood, the light, the outdoors space, the kitchen, and the comfy bed.
  • Great location adjacent to the redwood parks. Cabins are modern with all amenities and very comfortable beds (memory foam). I enjoyed the fire pit as well which was restocked with wood daily. Patrick’s point state park is right across the street. Park outside the exit and walk in to avoid fees. Lastly and most importantly THEY ALLOW PETS and my pup loved it. Surprisingly good food options in Trinidad also.

    Andrew2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Danny was very welcoming! The place was super convenient for visiting the redwoods and Trinidad!

    Jillian2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was so clean and in a great location. We loved staying here with our furry friend. Marke was a great host, and provided us with a bottle of wine. He even let us borrow some playing cards when we accidentally forgot to pack ours! Overall fantastic experience!

    Grace2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Marke was wonderful and very accommodating!

    Cassidy2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! Marke went the extra mile and made sure we had everything we needed. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality!

    Nancy 2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place and great location!

    Claudia2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Marke has a super location near Redwood National Park, Patricks Point State Park, Trinidad, and the beach. It’s a really cozy cabin with everything you need (and the bed is super comfortable!). Marke provided logs for us to build a fire outside in the fire pit (maybe we’ll do that next trip). There’s a lot of info in the cabin about local sights and the park. It’s a really nice place to unwind after hikes in the parks. Book it!

    Barbara2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Marke’s cottage was excellent! The place was clean and well stocked for our 3 nights there. Marke was always nearby on the property, either chopping wood or starting campfires for the guests. He’s very accommodating and friendly. The cottage was cute. It’s small, but it has a fully furnished kitchen, full bathroom, queen size bed, a love seat and bistro table. The rocking chairs on porch is a nice place to enjoy the complementary bottle of wine that comes with the rental. It was a nice home base for our extended weekend seeing the redwoods.

Wild, remote, tranquil, riverside cabin. Located along the pristine waters of the wild and scenic Salmon River, at its confluence with the Klamath River. This is the place you want to go to get away from it all. A two hour drive from Eureka CA, or 2.5 hours from Ashland OR. Bring a few groceries and you've got everything you need to unplug for as long as you like.
This is a recently remodeled, but rustic cabin in a wild, remote place. It has electricity, lights, and hot water. For spring, winter, and fall, there is a wood stove for heat, with firewood and kindling provided. There is a short trail down to the river spot. you should be comfortable walking on uneven ground to use the trail. The space is perfect for an individual, or couple's get away. It would also work for a couple with one or two kids, as the pull out couch is pretty comfortable. No Pets.
This cabin, while isolated, is only about a 3 minute drive from the local general store. There is free wi-fi at the store, as well as an excellent beer selection, espresso bar, and above average grocery selection. There is no cell service at the cabin, but most phones work thru the wi-fi at the general store.
