Park
“Amani Nature Reserve lies on the slopes of the East Usambara mountains, a mere 60 km from Tanga City. An easy to do day trip to this intricate tropical rain forest, this is an excellent place to go for hikes. Drive a little further up the mountain to Amani to enjoy cooler temperatures, lush forests, and view the old and lush tea estates that still thrive here.”

Lodging
“This very old hotel, the original 'Bandarini Hotel,' although renovated approximately 10 years ago, still looks a little run down. However, if you like Indian food, this is the best restaurant in Tanga. The seafood dishes are amazing and the price is low compared to anywhere else in Tanzania. Located opposite the Forodhani Gardens of Tanga, a cool place to hang out, observe the quiet pace of Tanga City go by, and savour some excellent dishes and cold beers. Opens at 19.00 hrs for dinner and has a bar that is open throughout the day. NOTE: like just about any restaurant in Tanga, the waiting time for a meal can be from a minimum of 30 minutes or more.”

“This market is tighter than the one in town, has a more local flare and caters for the local residents. Because of this, it is cheaper than the one in town. ”

Farmers Market
“This is just one of many markets in Tanga; this is probably the easiest to find and is conveniently located right opposite the town's first supermarket. Other markets (Ngamiani) is on Street Number 13 and caters more for the "local" clientele.”
