Peaceful Paradise With Mountain View and Full Kitchen
Step back in time in this 70s-inspired 2-story space designed to make the most of the view. Thoughtfully collected vintage pieces blend with numerous plants, plentiful books, and a record player. Watch bountiful wildlife through the windows. NOTE: we live in an area surrounded by wildlife, horses, dogs and a vast array of plants (our neighborhood is called Fernwood because it is the most green & lush from the ocean marine layer) so if you have allergies or asthma, this place may not be best for you. We also occasionally allow dogs, only if approved in advance. The upstairs space is bright and airy and all about the view! The kitchen is filled with a mix of 2nd hand and new kitchen tools. I love collecting beautiful wooden bowls and ceramics, perfect for showing off your homemade dishes. We try to keep the kitchen stocked with some basic essentials like olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt, garlic, mustard, ketchup, soy sauce, and more - this way you don't have to stress about picking up so many items at the store. The bathroom is small and minimal, but has everything you need. I also included a basket with beach towels. Head downstairs to an open bedroom with wood ceilings and a large closet. The bed is a brand new Tuft & Needle King. There is a desk if you find yourself needing to do some work. The room opens up to an enclosed semi-private outdoor space. We live across the way in the main house so you may see glimpses of us through the privacy partition. I am always happy to share any herbs or veggies in the garden. There are concrete floors and lots of natural wood elements throughout the space. There is a wall heater in each room to keep things cozy. Our home was built in the 60s and then updated a lot in the 70s/80s when a hippie commune called the "Peace Farm" lived here. It has a lot of quirks, but that is why we love Topanga :) On the other side of your patio is our courtyard which features two garden beds. Feel free to check them out and pick some herbs. We often see raccoons, bobcats, squirrels and even an occasional snake in our yard, so always be aware of where you are walking. Your private entrance is right next to your parking space in the driveway, so there is a chance you may not encounter us at all. We work a lot and are always out and about, however, we love meeting guests so we can be available if you'd like to meet and get some local tips. Or if you prefer, we can totally keep our distance ;) Stroll the secret trail nestled moments away to meet some friendly neighbors and dogs. The gentle ocean breeze means that locals call this area "climate-perfect Fernwood." From here on the west side of Topanga, it's under 15 minutes to the beach. We are in the hilly part of the canyon, which means the best views, but also narrow steep roads. Take it slow and enjoy the sounds of nature! This neighborhood is known as Fernwood due to it’s lush landscape, which may not be ideal for allergies. It is best to have a car in LA because it’s so spread out. You can walk to our small town of Topanga from our house but it’s about 2 miles downhill and then you have to walk back up!! We’ve done it and it’s not bad. There are also some great walking trails just steps away from us. In our town you’ll find a great bike shop where you can rent a mountain bike and they’ll give you tons of info on where to ride. Uber & Lyft do come up here when requested, but it sometimes takes some patience. We are about 10-15 minutes driving from our local beach with tons of free street parking on Topanga Blvd (look at the signs to ensure you are in a free parking zone). The first time you drive to our house, you may be a little freaked out by the windy curves of the road! It may feel like forever, but it's actually only 1 mile off the main boulevard to our house. Drive slow and take in the sights... beautiful rock formations, the frogs singing by the creek and the quirky houses! We have two small rescue dogs that get very excited when new people visit, so if you don't like dogs, this may not be the best option ;) We take them everywhere with us, so there won't be any yappy dogs ruining your peaceful retreat. Also, we live next-door to horses, so there may be some interesting noises throughout the day and night. Parking is very limited in our small cul-de-sac, so please make sure you park in the designated spot in our driveway. I will send you instructions before you arrive. If you smoke, please use the designated ashtray on the patio. We are in a fire zone, so do not smoke near brush. If you smoke inside, I will have to take a $200 fee out of your deposit. Smoking in the canyon is pretty frowned upon since everyone is so concerned about fires, so I recommend bringing a vape pen so you can avoid glares ;) Cell reception isn't great in the canyon, so please be prepared to not have any service until you connect to our wifi. Be prepared for power and internet outages, road closures, evacuations, spiders and more! You aren't in the city and things can get wild up here ;) Like most Airbnbs, we don't allow non-registered guests on the property without our consent, so please ask us if you'd like to have visitors over and I am sure we can accommodate! There is a 3 person max for this studio for overnight guests. We keep the kitchen stocked with all the basics and try to source everything organic or GMO free: olive oil, balsamic vinegar, ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, hot sauce, crush red pepper, sea salt, cinnamon, etc. PHOTO SHOOTS: We are open to photoshoots, but this must be disclosed ahead of time as we have a separate location fee.

Head out to explore the maze of meandering trails in the park before settling down on the sectional sofa in this cabin with modern style and rustic details. All the amenities you’ll need in an open format studio. Owned by interior designers who put a lot of love and style into this updated cabin. Tucked away in Topanga (yet only minutes from town) sits Chandler Farms, a 500 sq ft cabin. Recently remodeled, the cabin is a perfect mix of rustic & luxury featuring a private deck with a hammock facing breathtaking views and a massive walk in shower. A newly remodeled guest cabin with a private front yard and a huge private deck overlooking the canyon. A gorgeous 2 person bathroom with double sinks and a spa style shower with a bench and skylight. Raw hard wood ceilings with rustic touches makes this a unique yet comfy space. Just a 2 minute drive from rustic Topanga and 10 minutes from the beaches of Santa Monica and Malibu, we are also directly across the street from Topanga state park, the largest tract of park land in Los Angeles. Trailhead is within walking distance with access to miles of trails of varying difficulty. Red Rock Canyon is also 5 minute drive. Over the ridge to the Valley is 12 minute drive with access to all modern shopping amenities and restaurants. Its really up you. We are a super chill couple with years of airbnb experience as both hosts and guests. Your space is your own private area that is connected to the main house by a short trail. We are always available to help with advice about the area or to just hang out and trade travel stories. Topanga is a special place that has been occupied by native americans for hundreds of years. They chose this area for its lush vegetations, calm winds and dry temperate climate. The moisture comes up the canyon every morning and evening to feed the vegetation. It truly is a mountainous paradise within proximity to all LA has to offer. The people are a laid back mix of musicians, artists and film makers from all over the world. You can literally get lost in the maze of meandering roads and trails that give sight to the eclectic architecture and natural vistas. Everyday the weather is near perfect - you have to experience it yourself to fully understand. A rental car is a must in LA. You can use LYFT or UBER to get to and from the city but it is not as convenient as having your own wheels. A taxi can be taken from LAX or Burbank airports to the cabin. Mountain biking and hiking are great ways to explore the area. Several trails originate near our home and can be taken all the way down to the coast. Topanga Creek Bicycles is just down the street and is one of the coolest bike shops on the west coast. They offer great deals on mountain bike rentals and can give you advice on what trails you should explore for your skill level. The cabin is a guest house on our property with its own parking space. We have 2 driveways so parking is never an issue. The cabin has a kitchen with a fridge, 2 burner range and a microwave. The private deck features a picnic table, a hammock, two lounge chairs and a small propane Weber grill. Available for any help/guidance! And we love to meet our guests but fully respect their privacy. The cabin is a few minutes' drive to Topanga and some great organic restaurants as well as fun shops. Drive to the beach in Malibu or stay in the area and commune with nature on a hike or bike ride. Topanga Creek Bicycles is just down the street and is one of the coolest bike shops on the west coast. They offer great deals on mountain bike rentals and can give you advice on what trails you should explore for your skill level.
