  • This is probably one of the best Airbnb locations I've stayed at! We had planned to stay only two nights before moving along in our travels but we were having such a great time, we decided to stay an extra night! The décor is a country, eclectic mix of all things horses and is wonderfully cozy. There's tons to do whether the weather is beautiful and sunny (there's a lot of spectacular nature around to be explored!) or if you get rained out (try the head-scratching murder mystery game, or some Nintendo and popcorn!). The views to be had nearby are stunning! We woke up in the morning to see beautiful cranes just a few feet from us! And the drive along to her street is a breathtaking corridor of green and trees! If you are a horse or nature lover, I highly recommend this place!!

  • This is probably the best airbnb I've stayed in! The place was cozy and incredibly welcoming with all kinds of fantastic little touches. Halley is a great host, offering suggestions for things to do and see as well as being very quick to respond to questions. Thea area is a little out of the way but the surrounding land is stunningly beautiful! Highly recommend!!

    Emily2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Was looking for a quiet respite enroute to a camping trip snd Halleys place was perfect. Sweet, quiet cat and dog greetings were the best! Place was clean and the welcome touches very appreciated. Wish we had more time to explore the area. Definitely a place to come back to. Thank you so much!

    K2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and cozy! Pretty country views. Slept well on an older firm bed. Good keurig coffee available for ease. Halley was very friendly and accommodating! Great stay, great value!

  • Great spot for a little romantic getaway. Halley was quick with responding and VERY accommodating. Couldnt be happier with our stay there! Highly recommend taking a walk on the trails. It's the cutest little area.

    Grayce2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay! It's very nice, clean, and so quiet. The stars were visible at night and a group of Sandhill Cranes stopped by in the morning. Grassy paths with beautiful wildflowers and lots of birds along the edge. There are paths into the woods if you have more time. The Haehnle Sanctuary is nearby with trails. Met Halley and Pickles (cat) on arrival and Pickles stopped by in the morning.

    Chris2019-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Five stars all the way. Host is A+ communicative, spot is accurately described, super clean and was such a lovely/relaxing retreat. I was in the area covering a music festival for work so didn’t have much time to do anything else but sleep and shower, but this is clearly an awesome spot to hike/get away to. If I’m staying in this area, I’ll be back. Close to the highway that leads you to Jackson, Ann Arbor, Marshall, Lansing, etc.

  • What a view! The deck is worth the price of admission alone

    James2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The Lake House was exactly what we were expecting & everything we dreamed of for our mini "mom's retreat." A cozy, clean, & private space to sit & catch up together. We could swim, share a meal, & enjoy the view & firepit while chatting together in a relaxed atmosphere. Having been to a cabin on a Lake up north, this absolutely felt just like it, without the 3 hour drive attached. We appreciated this gem so much & can't wait to visit again in the future! Tips for guests: if you have more than 2 electronic devices, bring a long power strip! If you're allergic to fragrances be sure to unplug all their air fresheners right as you get there. The scent cleared out quickly, so this was def minor but i hadn't expected that before I arrived! Lastly, don't forget your lighter if you want to use the fire pit!

    Becky2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great views and lake access. A lovely balcony to sit and relax. All round a fantastic cottage to get away.

A cozy, comfortable cottage offering lake views with private screened in porch & deck. The property is embraced by the 21K Acre Waterloo Recreation Area - take a hike, run or ski on the Waterloo-Pinckney trail, right outside your front door...or relax and unwind in front of the gas fireplace.
Spend the day fishing, swimming or just relaxing on the refreshing spring fed lake. Wildlife sightings include Blue Heron, Egret, Bald Eagle and more! Enjoy a game of outdoor ping pong or a family dinner on the concrete table. Paddle-board, Blue Kayak, paddle-boat and life jackets provided.
Very quiet and serene area with an abundance of wildlife. A few of our Spring Lake neighbors are year round and others use their cottages for 2 or 3 seasons. The area is quite beautiful in all seasons, winter full moon evenings are amazing. Access to the Waterloo recreation area trails, lakes, and nature discovery center available via a small trail just down the street. (map provided in cottage) There is a small convenience store within a 2 minute drive (The Point) located at Glazier and Cavanaugh Lake Road - they have plenty of last minute items you might need during your stay. The town of Chelsea is nearby and has full service grocery stores, gift shops, great restaurants, bars and more! Check out the Guidebook for our local recommendations.
  • Beautiful lake views from most windows and great hiking practically in their backyard.

  • Funky and Fantastic!!! A vintage lakeside cottage close to I 94 and downtown Chelsea with charm galore and very clean and comfortable. We didn’t want to leave. Anita is the hostess with the mostest. Book a stay and prepare to relax.

    Steven2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • A cozy cabin. Very clean and comfortable. It's very peaceful here!

    Chad2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Anita's cottage was clean and exactly as advertised. I would (and may) stay here again.

    David2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Anita's cottage is a lovely, peaceful place. It's sparkling clean, looks out on a pretty lake, and has a good kitchen. It's wonderful to hunker down in the winter and lounge in front of the fireplace and watch the snow fall.

    Krista2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay. Location is amazing, a quick walk to the miles and miles of trails at the park and the view was amazing. It was bitter cold during our stay, but the upstairs was always cozy warm. Soft fluffy sheets on the bed were a pleasant and comforting surprise!

    Sarah2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy place

    Gary2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Anita's cabin on the lake was a perfect spot for relaxation. The porch is delightful, the fireplace was relaxing, and thoughtful touches like hot teas, cocoa, a range of toiletries were extra comforting. I highly recommend this place! Anita communicates very quickly, it took a few minutes for the heat to kick on, and since I'm from AZ I was worried and asked her if I was doing something wrong, I wasn't but she answered me right away, and the house heated up super quick and we were cozy the whole time. The upstairs does heat up more than the rest of the house so be careful not to overheat, a fan is provided though.

Recently updated and on a large and private lake-front lot, this is your quiet lakeside escape! Located only 20 minutes from Ann Arbor, 50 minutes from Detroit-Metro airport and just a quick 10-minute drive to adorable Chelsea, home of The Purple Rose Theatre and fantastic restaurants. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, you'll love being in the heart of the Waterloo Recreation Area. If you're a college sports fan, you'll love being near UofM, MSU, and EMU. Come enjoy our home!
The entire cottage is yours to enjoy! Contact us for special requests involving recreational activities, fishing licenses, restaurant reservations or local entertainment options.
The cottage is located on a private, non-paved road. The neighborhood is very quiet from September-June, then gets a little busier once summer arrives. The community is very safe, locals are friendly and discrete. During the fall you'll enjoy fantastic colors, hiking, and biking. Once the lake is safely frozen, ice skating, sledding, and ice fishing are favorite winter past times and the Waterloo Recreation trails are great for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Spring brings more hiking and lovely bird watching and, during the summer, the lake comes alive again! Swimming, kayaking, fishing, and BBQs on the deck are just some of the things you'll enjoy!
  • Keri was an outstanding host! Her attention to detail and willingness to accommodate whatever we needed deserves 5 more stars! thanks again!!

  • This is a fantastic getaway location. Feels like you’re going up north, and yet still relatively close to home. They had everything we needed in the house. We enjoyed watching the sunset from the back. Lake is pretty quiet and great for fishing. Would love to go back!

    Elizabeth2019-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and clean cottage with stunning views over the lake. We went there for the second time and really enjoyed our stay. One of the good things about this cottage is, that the BBQ area is covered, so we could grill even though it was raining outside.

“I feel thin. Sort of... stretched. Like butter scraped over too much bread.” ~ Bilbo Baggins to Gandalf~ If this is you right now, you've come to the right place. Blue Door Inn & Artist Retreat is designed to be a place where very tired people can come and rest. Sleep, surrounded by nature. Read a book. Receive delicious bodywork and take a long nap afterwards. Listen to crickets or the crackle of a fire. Hang out in a hammock. Be alone. Connect with a beloved. Listen to the silence.
This is a tiny house that's been finished and decorated with an eye toward Latin America and with a high value placed on beauty, handiwork, rest, privacy, solitude. It's located on a centennial farm in a still-rural setting. There are many personal touches designed to make the stay as comfortable as possible - memory foam mattresses, delicious linens, good pillows, lots of natural light, a cozy place to sit and write while contemplating nature, a wood burning stove.
The main house on the property used to be THE house in the area and this family owned all the surrounding farmland. It has since been parcelled off, but many families still have acreage and grow crops.
  • This place was amazing! In my opinion perfect winter get away. The fire place maybe the only heat but it pumps out the heat even in our 10 degree weather that we had and we were nice and toasty. I would pick this place if your looking for a get way from the rigours of normal life and a little escape.

    Noel2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for a retreat during the winter. Woodburning stove and country surroundings provide a unique experience. Naomi is a great host, quick to respond to anything you may need

  • What an amazing space to relax! The wood burning stove made the tiny house so cozy. Amazing coffee! So many thoughtful touches, including beautiful decor, great linens, a library, and yoga gear. The setting is beautiful- watched cranes landing and taking off in the field. Look forward coming back again. Naomi was very responsive and is so kind. This is a great getaway spot.

  • Terrific hospitality, adorable little house on pure Michigan land!

    Ryker2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The tiny house is perfect for a getaway. Bright colors, quiet farm and kind touches can be found here. Great coffee. Love the hammock! Wood burning stove is easy to use and kept the whole place warm and cozy on a fall night. The composting toilet is amazing! Surprising easy to use and no odor! Naomi was easy to communicate with. Will defiantly be back!

    Keegan2019-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! Cozy, romantic, a perfect place to get away and enjoy some quiet time. Has a wood burner inside as well as a fire pit outside to enjoy the stars at night. Offers a hammock to relax in as well. Has everything you need to enjoy a nice almost rustic get away with the comforts of a house. Highly recommend this place if you are just simply looking to get away!

  • The pictures of location are seriously lacking. This location is divine. You are not crammed along a shoreline with all of the other houses. You are on a tiny peninsula in your own little private space with a yard. It is serene and peaceful and highly recommend this place based on the location and view.

  • This place is amazing. The view is incredible and peaceful. The beds are super comfy too. Paul is a great host and always communicated very quickly. I had to extend my stay a few times, and he was very accommodating and understanding. This has to be, by far, my favorite Airbnb I have ever stayed at, and I've been a client, and frequent traveler, since the beginning. Excellent everything in this home. Never wanted to leave. Small private room with a twin bed and shared bath. There is another room across the hall that we also sometimes rent to one or two guests. Both rooms have doors that lock from both the inside and out, so privacy and safety are not a concern. There is a separate entrance via an outside staircase. ***PLEASE NOTE THE STAIRS ON THE OUTSIDE PICTURE OF THE HOUSE. THIS STAIRCASE IS USED TO GAIN ENTRY TO THE ROOM.*** There is also a mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in the hall that is shared.
Our home is located a couple of blocks from downtown Grass Lake. It is an easy walk to most amenities. The house was built in the late 1800s and has a lot of character.
Grass Lake is a quiet village located near Chelsea and is a short drive to Jackson, Ann Arbor, and Lansing.
  • The room and accommodations were as expected based on the information on the website. It was quiet, comfortable, and just what I needed for a weekend visit for a wedding. I also appreciated that I was greeted for check in to make sure all of my questions were answered.

  • The place is very clean and spacious with enough bedrooms to meet the needs our big family. Danny is a friendly and attentive host who took care of any problems that came up, including making sure farm fresh eggs were available for breakfast. We had a great stay.

    Robin2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Danny was an incredible host. He went above and beyond to make sure things were comfortable for me, he knew everybody in town and gave me a tour of the place, and provided absolutely everything I needed for my stay - including a delicious breakfast! I honestly didn't know what to expect when I got to Gregory and had just had a really stressful few days, but all of that went away during my stay at this B&B. Everything was beautifully set up/provided, and super clean. The location was pretty awesome too - right near a beautiful trail and super close to the local Country Pub and market. I can go on and on about this place lol .. Highly recommend. Thanks Danny for making me feel at home :)

    Pardes2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Danny was a great host and the house was perfect for our group of six. He was able to accommodate us coming in a little early and was very pleasant to chat with. We weren't at the house very long, but it was great while we were there. Would definitely recommend his place for large groups.

    Douglas2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Cozy space. Great hospitality. There was a big, inviting porch in a quiet neighborhood. Great for enjoying your morning coffee.

    Cheryl2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were bicycling across Michigan - and Danny's place was right off the bike trail in Gregory, Michigan as well as mid-point Between Owasso and Detroit. We only needed one room and bath but Danny opened the whole house to us - really loved the big front porch with a good breeze plus the pond with duck. Plenty of hot water for showers, good matress, coffee and milk in the am, chilled bottles of water and we were on our way. Would definitely stop with Danny again.

    Mary-Rose2019-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Danny is an excellent host and made sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Everything was very clean and the room was comfortable. Next time I’m doing a race in the area this is where I will stay. Very happy.

  • Mully and Deb were excellent hosts. They were flexible, friendly and helpful. Their homemade breakfast served at the time of our request was delicious. In fact, sipping tea/coffee in the morning while enjoying the beautiful view of the forest was one of our favorite parts of the weekend. We also loved that the trails were right next to the cabin, allowing us to conveniently go for walks. We would recommend this place to others and hope to return at some point ourselves.

  • Absolutely relaxing, warm, and beautiful space with gracious hosts who are truly keeping the spirit of service alive and well. We only stayed one night for a new year retreat but we are already planning on returning. A perfect place to get away from it all.

    Kelly2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Comfort. Warmth. Attention to detail. Relaxing. Quiet. Rejuvenating. All I needed for a true retreat from responsibilities for a couple days to focus on me.

Private bedroom with a queen bed and shared bathroom (one other person). There is another room across the hall that we also sometimes rent to one guest. Both rooms have doors that lock from both the inside and out, so privacy and safety are not a concern. Bathroom has a shower, no tub. Seperate entrance for your convenience and privacy. ***PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE STAIRS OUTSIDE ...SEE PICTURE. THAT IS THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROOM.***
There is staircase that leads directly to the upstairs so you have your own private entrance. The bedroom has a queen bed and three large windows. The bathroom has been freshly painted and has a stall shower. There is wireless internet available. There is a mini-fridge, microwave, electric kettle, and basic dinnerware. We provide an assortment of teas, bottled water, and simple breakfast items.
Grass Lake is a great community. There is a convenience store about a block away as well as a quaint downtown area. There is a nice gazebo and old train depot within two blocks. There are also two diners in town; a couple of pizza places; a nice public lake with a playground; and plenty of friendly people. It is only about a 30 minute drive to Ann Arbor, so this a nice alternative when attending games or other events there.
  • This was my second time staying at Kelly's while traveling for work, and both stays have been great. The room is comfortable, clean, and quiet, and Kelly is a friendly and accommodating host. I've also enjoyed that the house is within waking distance to a nice park by the lake. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

    Levi2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kelly's place was perfect for the value and what I needed in a place to stay. The location is fantastic in a quiet small town, with awesome local eats. A few minutes away from Jackson and from Michigan International Speedway, I was able to get everywhere I needed to without much hassle or wasted time.

Secluded and quiet but outdoor activities abound. Located in the Waterloo Recreation area, but only minutes to downtown historic Chelsea and 25 minutes to downtown Ann Arbor. Surrounded by over 30 miles of trails for hiking, biking, running, horse back riding and x-country skiing. Paradise for the active or quite relaxed getaway. Room to dock your boat at our dock. Feel free to use our kayaks and paddle board. Fire pits for your evening pleasure and comfort.
The house was completely renovated to maintain the cottage ambiance while providing an open floor plan with 180 degree views of the lake and modern conveniences of new kitchen, baths, electrical, lighting, ceiling fans, etc.
About half the lake frontage is State owned recreation area land which limits lake usage and makes for a very quiet all sports lake. If you have a boat, there is a boat launch available for your use. About half the houses are full time residents and the other half vacation homes for weekend seasonal use.
  • We enjoyed our stay at Timothy’s home. His home is clean and has everything needed for a wonderful stay. The view of the lake is very nice from the spacious living area downstairs. He’s a great host.

    Rebecca2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful cottage to spend some downtime in! It is very comfortable, clean and relaxing.

    Tom2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great space and quite relaxing. Pictures accurately portray the home, which is clean and has a great view of the lake. The lake is quite shallow which makes it warm, but also the water at the dock is only a few feet deep. Lake was quiet with minimal motor boats. Stairs down to the dock could be a little dangerous for young children, but we didn't have a problem.

  • Timothy was a wonderful host. Before booking the house he was very quick to respond to all of my questions and concerns giving me confidence that this was the right spot for our vacation. Shortly before arriving Timothy even went out of his way to stock a couple additions to the kitchen supplies after I inquired about their availability. This house was indeed the right spot. Perfect for our two families (adults, children and an infant) with space to spread out both indoors and out. Well stocked, clean and a fantastic view!

  • Cathy’s place was super clean and gave us access to many different things. Most people clean out every cupboard they have before letting someone stay in their home; however, that was not the case with this cottage, i felt right at home.

    Christen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place was immaculate. Beautiful and comfortable space. The kitchen was fully stocked and the bathrooms had everything we could possible need. Right on the lake, enjoyed watching the ice fisherman :). Would love to come back in the warmer months to enjoy the lake and all the amenities the house offers. Very close to Jackson, yet away enough on the lake to feel like you’re out of town. Great hosts!!!

  • We were in town for the wedding of my nephew and the house was a great location. There were 2 adults on most days with 2 extra adults on a few other days...the space is very comfortable for 4 adults. Cathy was prompt with answering questions and was extremely accommodating with a few other requests. I am a frequent traveler and rent houses often, Cathy's home is now one of my top 5 for modern interior, cleanliness (I'm super picky), and amenities. We would like to travel back during the summer. I would highly recommend this location to family and friends.

There is a nice brick patio in the rear of the house also. 2 bathrooms both with showers, very clean and well stocked. Kitchen is lovely, open and airy and well decorated. • We had an amazing weekend in April’s RV, BOB! A beautiful property and such a fun and unique experience. On top of that, April was an outstanding host! Thank you for such a wonderful stay!

    Jenna2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • April parked BOB in a field with a great view for us. It felt like we were a million miles away from home, so scenic and beautiful. BOB itself is so charming and vintage. Our bonfire under the stars was a great way to spend an evening and April brought us French press coffee in the morning. Couldn't recommend BOB enough, will definitely come back.

    Sandra2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • We found BOB after much frustration trying to find accommodations on a University of Michigan game day. Hotels that I have stayed at before in Ann Arbor were $400 per night and even hotels 20 miles away were $250 per night. April is a dream host and she even brought BOB to Ann Arbor on Saturday morning so we could use it all day for tailgating. That value at $95 per night is ridiculous and the experience far outweighs anything else. BOB is a classic. Where else can you explain to your kids what an 8-track tape is, or a CB radio? Yes, April has updated BOB with wifi, so those of us who can't be disconnected for a weekend are able to stay connected. April will allow you to stay in BOB on her property which is handy and cheap, but it also gave us the chance to experience Chelsea, Michigan which is nearby. We ate at a truly amazing restaurant called The Common, which is owned by the chef and Jeff Daniels, the actor who is most famous for Dumb and Dumber (in case he's reading this). I only wish we had more time to experience the live theater in Chelsea, but I will save that for the next visit. In summary, BOB is a treasure that you should consider sharing with your inner child or your real-life children, or both. On game days, this is the go-to solution. Every other day, it's just a great idea! Thanks so much, April!

    Curtis2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We wanted to spend a weekend out in nature with our dog and found the perfect AirBnb venue in April’s Big Orange Bus! We could not have asked for more beautiful views. The outdoor space was breathtaking while the inside was super cozy and comfortable! April even gave us options for different mattresses before we arrived. BOB, a Colorado hipster, was providing us with everything we needed for our camping weekend and April even got us a fire pit and wood so we could stay outside longer. Our dog Lily loved the long hikes through the woods! So many trails to explore on the property and in the park down the road! We’re already looking forward to our next camping weekend with BOB!
