Places to stay in Isle of Wight
My place is 1 mile from the beach and a mile from the river. You’ll love my place because of the warm reception and help you get. You are welcome to help yourself to toast and cereal for breakfast. If you need to use the kitchen in the evening, please try to finish by 6.30 pm. I have two other double rooms listed, one upstairs and one downstairs...
  • My stay at Danielle’s was perfect - outstanding in every way. I was sad to leave and certainly will rebook next time I come to the bicycle Isle.

  • My third stay at Danielle's this summer, this time 8 days for Cowes Week. Despite the wet and windy weather I received the usual very warm welcome.

  • What a brilliant home to stay in, was an absolute pleasure and a great delight. Good, clean rooms with an amazing garden to relax and enjoy the fresh air. The bedroom contained a kettle with tea and coffee for your own leasure, breakfast was always ready, bathrooms are spotless. Great local insight and advice. A true Elvis Presley fan with a variety of memorabilia to show and stories to tell. Throulogy enjoyed the private tour. All in all, it was a great stay, the host is amazing who goes beyond the extra mile. Words do no justice. Looking forward to my next visit!

    Abbas2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's house is very clean and comfortable. I would 100% recommend a stay here. Tea, Coffee and biscuits in the room was a nice touch. A bath with shower over was nice after I had a long day sailing around the Isle of Wight.

    Terence2019-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle is a wonderful host. Her place is value for money. What you advertised is what you get, even better.

We are situated on the North coast of the Island, within 5 mins of both major car ferries, it is really easy to get to by car, taxi or by bike, and we have plenty of parking, and safe places to put your bikes. We are in a great location on the edge of the village of Wootton, where there are shops - mini Tesco, pharmacy, petrol, Majestic, etc ! It is just 3 mins drive to the High Street. We are also only about a 7 min drive down to East Cowes, where there is a Waitrose. And 4 mins from a lovely farmshop with cafe/restaurant. So you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere - in lovely rural peace and quiet - but you are really not far from civilisation at all ! And it's a great starting point for visiting places all over the Island , where there is a huge variety of things to do for all ages and preferences ! We can send you our special recommendations of 'Things To do' and great restaurants to try .
  • As interesting as it sounds, and everything in very good condition. Really comfortable bed, and a very cosy living room with the fire. We were well looked after. A very pleasant long weekend.

  • The Treehouse is a really magical place to stay- especially if you have kids. It was a cosy, comfortable and well appointed place - it had everything we needed and more. Fiona gave us a warm welcome and so much helpful information about the island. It was an unforgettable place to stay- especially having the gentle sway of the treehouse rock us to sleep each night.

    Claire2020-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • My 5 friends and I had such a great stay at this amazing place. The beds were very comfy after chilling in the main space with a wood burner going and some glasses of red wine. An Outdoor bbq, table tennis and games means there is plenty to keep yourselves entertained in a peaceful part of the IOWight. Only a 5-10min drive from the ferry if you head to Fishbourne which was great. Fiona was a fab host! 5 stars!

  • Amazing, we spent Xmas in the tree house, well worth every penny!

    Kate2019-12-27T00:00:00Z

    Aimee2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • The treehouse is fantastic. A unique experience, for sure. It rocks you to sleep at night, which is just so lovely and there’s ping pong to be had, if you fancy it too. Mr 11 was absolutely delighted by all of it. Only wish we could have stayed longer. We’ll be back for sure 😊 Thank you

  • Elizabeth’s place is as described on the website, everything clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent!

    Kate2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I cannot rate this property and the host Elizabeth enough. From the minute we arrived Elizabeth was extremely pleasant and so helpful. We found the property to be beautifully presented in THE most stunning location. The attention to detail was so pleasing and the property was set out for ultimate luxury and comfort. We felt like we were having a real treat the whole time we were there! The breakfast was scrumptious and the effort that had been put in to everything was really so evident. I am not often surprised by things at my age, but really - this left me speechless for a mo here and there! We had mixed weather but the as the property was so pleasant it really did not matter we were happy in our bedroom and in the fabulous breakfast room.

  • A wonderful place to stay in IoW, with lots of thoughtful touches. Elizabeth is one of the nicest hosts I have stayed with. My wife and I had a superb time at her place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to couples and individual travellers. Expect nice breakfasts, very comfy rooms and A* hospitality.

  • Excellent host in a great location, perfect base for exploring anywhere in the Island. Very clean accommodation and an amazing breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, cereals and pastries.

    Martin2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed with Elizabeth for three nights over the August bank holiday weekend and it was just perfect. From the minute we arrived we were greeted in such a friendly way - to the moment we sadly had to leave it was faultless. Elizabeth has a very beautiful home with views you can look at for hours on end. Beds comfy, rooms are lovely and light and the peace and quiet is just what you need when you escape a big city. The hospitality is more than 5 stars! Breakfast has so much choice, with fresh rolls, pastries, eggs, fruit - we were certainly fuelled up and ready for exploring the island. The weekend was very hot so the added bonus of endless cold bottled water available to guests in an accessible fridge was handy. Elizabeth’s house has many thoughtful touches like this for guests which makes the stay even better. Thank you to Elizabeth (and Daisy the friendly dog) for making our special weekend just what we wanted!

    Kelly2019-08-26T00:00:00Z

West wing of a 19c. Rectory next to Queen Victoria's local Church in Whippingham. Views over the surrounding countryside and river, but only two miles from East Cowes, and four from the county town, Newport. The house is still undergoing repairs and decoration. We are currently awaiting permission to replace the first floor windows. As the window in this room is in a bad way and now relies on secondary glazing to properly close it, the room price has been reduced accordingly.
SECOND BEDROOM - We also have another room available (including the master bedroom); please click on my profile picture to see it. One bathroom for all airbnb guests. * Wifi Internet Included * Breakfast Included * Gluten-free Friendly This is an incredible opportunity to stay in a character-filled Victorian rectory frequented by the eponymous Queen and her husband Prince Albert. Situated on a hillside, the views up and down the Medina valley are some of the finest on the Isle of Wight. We currently have two rooms available to let; the master bedroom and a second bedroom. This listing is for the second bedroom, which has a double bed and a window that fills with sun in the morning; the perfect place from which to view the garden and up the Medina valley to Newport. Eating: Your hostess, June, will provide a delicious breakfast each morning which can be taken in the dining room or garden (weather permitting). There is also a tea-making kit in the bedroom so you can enjoy a lovely cup in the morning whilst enjoying the magnificent views from bed. Breakfast can be either a continental or, for a modest extra charge, full English - whichever you prefer. At the moment the window in Room 2 cannot be opened, as it was badly damaged in a winter storm. Two panes of glass were broken, and cannot be replaced as the frame holding them was also damaged. Fortunately, there is slide across secondary glazing, which can be closed. The casement cannot be opened, however, We are currently seeking permission to replace the window, which is taking far longer than I had realised, as this is a listed building. For this reason there is a ten pound reduction in the price per night. You are welcome to use household kitchen to prepare lunch and dinner, or there are many excellent pubs and restaurants around the island (the closest of which is "The Folly Inn"; 15 minutes walk down a footpath). The Old Rectory has two acres of beautiful woods, ponds and lawns to enjoy. The woods are a natural habitat for badgers, red squirrels, rabbits and many other species. It is lovely to walk around them first thing in the morning with a fresh cup of coffee, or to relax on the sun loungers during a hot afternoon. A Royal Connection: When Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stayed at their Island home (Osborne House – barely a mile away), they would visit St. Mildred's church on Sundays. After the service, the Queen and Prince would often join the vicar in the rectory for tea. Local Sights / Activities: St. Mildred's Church : St. Mildred's is next door to The Rectory. It is a beautiful little village church, and the loving care it received from Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and so many other members of the Royal Family quickly becomes apparent, from its design and building to the many beautiful features and memorials within it. Church Hall - Local History Exhibition: Learn more about the rich history of Whippingham and it's royal connections. Osborne House – Queen Victoria's holiday home - 1 of 2 English Heritage Premier Visitor Attractions: "It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot" - such were the words of Queen Victoria after her first visit to Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. No trip to the island would be complete without a visit to this royal seaside palace where Queen Victoria lived with her beloved Prince Albert and their nine children. Take an intimate glimpse into Queen Victoria’s family life as you tour the nursery and private rooms of Victoria and Albert. Marvel at the magnificence of the Royal Apartments including the sumptuous drawing and dining rooms and the richly decorated Indian-inspired Durbar Room. Admire the stunning view from the terraces across the Solent – said to remind Prince Albert of the bay of Naples and stroll through Osborne’s extensive grounds. Don’t miss the miniature Swiss Cottage, built to teach the royal children the art of household management! Paddle in the sea at the private beach where she swan with her children. Riverside Walk to Newport : This is a wonderful 3 mile footpath to the Island's main town, Newport. It can be a little muddy so decent footwear is recommended! Lots of lovely vistas and plenty of wildlife to see. The Local Pub: The Folly Inn is our local pub, perched on the banks of the river Medina. It is a 15 minute walk over the fields down a footpath, and is warm & welcoming offering a hearty selection of food and drink. Afterwards it is a short walk back up the fields to The Rectory. Saturday night features live music and the infamous dancing on the tables! It is popular with yachtsmen and women in the warmer months due to it's private jetty. The Rest of the Island: There is plenty to see and do on the Isle of Wight, and we recommend visiting the tourist board website for more details. Here are a few ideas to start you off: The Needles & Alum Bay Cowes Week - One of the world's premier sailing events The Isle of Wight Festival Ryde Carnival Godshill The Mod Scooter Rally - largest in the world Bestival Blackgang Chine Havenstreet Steam Railway Shopping: There is a large Waitrose supermarket in East Cowes (just over a mile away), and a small convenience store selling basic groceries fifteen minutes walk up the road. Getting Around: It is best to visit The Rectory with a car, although not essential. There are many car rental companies on the Island, or you can buy weekly or daily passes for the bus service which is a very enjoyable way to see the Island. The top deck of a bus winding down a country lane allows you to see for miles! If you're feeling active, cycling and walking are also great ways to see the Isle of Wight. The nearest bus stop to The Old Rectory is a ten minute walk away. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
In the heart of the conservation area of Whippingham, so very quiet as a rule, but within a few miles of the 'bright lights' of the Island. Cycle track and footpath network accessible from here, and only a mile from the major heritage destination of Queen Victoria's Osborne House.
  • We loved our stay at June and Tobin! The house is beautiful and very well located on the heights of Cowes, 5 minutes by bike or 20 minutes walk. Full of charm and authenticity, we felt good immediately. The room is very comfortable with a nice view of the surrounding countryside. Finally, and most importantly, the quality of the welcome of the hosts alone deserves the detour. We arrived without much time and Tobin welcomed us with a smile. We left early the next day (5:30 pm), and so a 3-star breakfast was waiting for us, shared with June, who made us the pleasure of his conversation. To recommend without hesitation for those who seek a true room "at the inhabitant".

  • A lovely place, with good access and a very welcoming host

    Arthur2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing historic building, with lovely views across the river. Very comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. A great selection of fresh fruit cereals yoghurts, cold meats and cheese, warm croissants, toast, excellent coffee and a selection of jams etc. There was a mini fridge in our room so we could have real milk in our early morning cup of tea. We were made to feel very welcome.

    Catherine2019-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Me and my girlfriend had a lovely stay! Very quick response as we booked on the day. Really nice house, clean and tidy. Very friendly family that make you feel very welcoming. The breakfast was incredible, laid out beautifully and a feast! Views are incredible and would defo recommend this stay to anyone. Thank you June and everyone else!

  • Lovely house and very nice family

    Stefan2019-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find! June's house is tucked up in the lush countryside, but so easy to access all points of the island from. You can feel the history of the house--from the embroidered table runners in the bedroom to the painting-filled, coral parlour that opens onto the gardens--every aspect is considered and delightful. Plenty of books to read, a soft bed, a huge bathtub, beautiful surroundings, plus Wi-Fi! June and her sons did their utmost to take care of us and offer helpful suggestions for our stay, we felt very well looked after. There was an enormous and varied breakfast every morning, we didn't eat again until evening, then tea fixings and biscuits if we felt peckish. I would unreservedly recommend June's home to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, interesting place.

    William2019-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful house that wears its heritage lightly on its sleeve. Atmospheric, authentic and relaxed. June is a delightful host and her family welcomed me warmly. If you’re used to predictable, uniform, vanilla homes then this isn’t that. I had a hoot and will be back very soon.

Perfect location only 5 minute walk to the nearest bus station and 10 minute walk to the fairy. Loved staying there and Glenn is definitely a super host 👌🏻

Tradewinds is located within a very quiet waterside Marina development, just off the Medina River and close to wonderful unspoilt riverside walks and countryside. This four-bedroomed yachtsman house at Island Harbour is perfectly located for exploring the Island due to its central location and is within walking distance of two great pubs. • Tradewinds is a lovely little terraced cottage on a fairly modern marina development. The area is peaceful with some fabulous walks, fairly close to Newport and whilst it is certainly more convenient to have a car, it is only a short walk to a bus stop. The house itself is well stocked and is comfortable and as we stayed during winter, I'm delighted to say it was cosy and warm and the kids certainly appreciated it having run around outside.

Whilst staying at the house you have full use of our communal areas, we take well behaved dogs, but are an adult only establishment. This room overlooks our wooded front garden. Lisle Court is the ideal base for cycling, walking, sailing, golfing or simply exploring the history and beautiful scenery the Isle of Wight has to offer. You can even fish from our private jetty!
  • Eileen’s place is fantastic. If you love Victorian style, this is your place. The room and the bathroom is huge. It’s very clean and complete with tea and some shortbread. Very comfortable. Eileen is very accommodating of what you need. The breakfast is also great, lots of choices and with a great view of the water. The place and the breakfast is so worth the money. I would stay again at her place when I’m back in the island.

  • To write this it to let you into a secret! Shhhh what an amazing historic property with a thoughtful host who cannot do enough. Everyone becomes friends of the host because thats how you are made to feel. A pleasure from when we arrived. If like us you were hesitant then dong be the secret is worth every penny x

  • Stunning location, beautiful old house in lovely grounds that slope down to the banks of the creek. Thoughtful touches from Eileen making the stay comfortable and enjoyable. I only wish I had more time here to relax. Would definitly stay again and recommend.

  • The feeling and air of a manor house, the history, creaking floors and bits of history everywhere are what drew us here. The hospitality of being welcomed into such a neat house and with such warmth was really appreciated. the views over the inlets and smell of wilderness, with birds singling reminded me of my childhood excursions to remote family islands. If one is lucky to be there on a sunny day the beach house brings the best of the sea. While no matter when to accept the full English Breakfast will leave you well filled and delighted. Best of England. Best of Isle of Wight.

A beautifully presented Victorian Fishermans Cottage in Cowes, Isle of Wight. A single room available within a charming Victorian Cottage within easy walking distance to Shephard's Wharf marina and only a few minutes walk from the town centre. The living area leads into the kitchen making downstairs spacious. The cottage is located in a quiet street and within a few minutes walking distance into Cowes town centre. Cowes is a vibrant area for shopping, with many boutique stores mixed in with nautical stores and quirky gift shops, and it is easily navigated along the pedestrianised High Street. The parade which sits to the west of the town front is a great place to take a stroll, and makes for an easy scenic walk along to the neighbouring village of Gurnard. Sailing is a very popular pastime, and if you are visiting there are several rib and yacht charter companies where you can hire a vessel. Cowes offers a variety of different cuisines when you are looking for places to eat. • Great place to stay, highly recommended. The hosts were extremely nice and went out of their way to make you feel at home. The room had everything you needed as well as great extra touches such as tea and coffee making facilities and it’s own fridge. The hosts even put out a large spread for breakfast every day. The neighbourhood was very quiet but still close enough to the city centre. We stayed whilst we attended the Isle of Wight festival and it was a perfect location for getting in and out of the festival. Highly recommend, would definitely stay again.

  • Danielle was a very thoughtful host, who provided great help throughout our stay and was extremely welcoming. The room had everything we needed, was spotless and was a good size. Helped us to have a great trip and would be our top choice to stay again if returning to the island.

  • A lovely house with friendly Andrew.

    Haoman2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew is a superb host and his place is exactly the kind of place one would want to crash-in after an eventful day of sightseeing at Isle of Wight. The best things about this place are - (1) Proximity to the bus stop (house is just opposite the bus stand) (2) The Cowes area is just 15 minutes walking distance from this place (3) The place is well kept and clean (4) It's economical and last but not the least (5) Andrew - He is an intelligent, well read and well travelled man with a lot of stories / experiences to share, he is quite responsive and helps you with a lot of details about the island. We completely enjoyed our stay there !

    Deepa2019-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect host! Had a lovely stay and Andrew was very helpful in giving directions and informations. The house is right at a bus stop that connects directly with the main line to the ferry and Newport. Next supermarket is just 10 min walk. Room was super spacious, clean, warm and cozy. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own food. Will come back :)

    Fi2019-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew is a very welcoming and friendly host and we enjoyed a lot our stay. The accommodation is in a nice part of the IOW. Very nice coastal and rural footpaths. Aldi market nearby, good pub in Gurnard and 20 min walking to the center of Cowes. Easy to visit the island by bus - very good public transport and day/week bus tickets for a good price. Bus stop on the side of the house. The place is very clean and neat, the kitchen had all needed and we had our own shelf in the fridge. The photos on the site are exactly as the room looks. The Island of Wright is a very beautiful and pleasant place. Super recommended!

Very helpful friendly hosts when staying there for 5 days with potential to achieve so many more holiday experiences at another time or had we stayed longer. A very comfortable suite for two within the historic town of East Cowes. In a quiet residential setting, it is only a short walk from Queen Victoria's seaside home, good pubs and restaurants and other attractions. This is perfect retreat from which you can explore the whole Isle of Wight.
At the top of a town house in historic East Cowes, this pretty room is tucked under the eaves. The suite has a private bathroom and has views across to the world-renowned yachting destination of West Cowes and the Solent. The room comfortably sleeps 2 and in the dressing area there is room for a travel cot or child's travel bed if needs be.
The house is within easy walking distance of ferry connections to Southampton as well as being close to the chain ferry link to West Cowes and all its shops, yachting, restaurants and nightlife. There is a branch of Waitrose close by if you are choosing a self-catering option. It is easy to get out and about from this location, with frequent bus services running from the end of our road. This makes it no trouble at all to connect to island-wide links, so exploring the whole island is easy from here. Quarter of an hour's walk away is Queen Victoria's holiday home, Osborne House, with its private swimming beach, stately home and exquisite parkland. There are also coastal walks and cycle paths within easy reach. East Cowes, recently voted fifth best place to live in England, is a small, quiet town, providing a restful location with plenty of open space and sea air, and local amenities such as a riverside pub to enjoy at the end of busy days.
  • Erica and her family made me so welcome. It's a relaxed and friendly home, stylishly decorated and peaceful with all the autonomy you could want and you really couldn't ask for more. Absolutely wonderful

  • Perfect place to stay, really nice and super clean appartement. This was the nicest place I've ever stayed at on airbnb, the hospitality and responsiveness of hostess. Lovely breakfast in early morning was surprisingly! Suggest this place to stay in East Cowes 100%!

    Max2019-11-08T00:00:00Z
  • Erica and James and their family were so welcoming, I feel as though I’ve been to stay with some old friends. It really was a home from home. I would highly recommend them. The location was perfect for me, walkable from the ferry port (not that I actually walked it as they picked me up) and also close to the wedding venue I was going to (not that I actually walked that either as they dropped me off!). Room was great, breakfast superb (fresh bread both mornings), I can’t think what else one could ask for!

    Annes2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Erica and her family were very warm indeed offering us wine and a tasty homemade pear tart on our arrival. The attic room was cosy and tastefully furnished with an en suite for our own personal use. The breakfast was a good choice of cereals and fresh fruit and home made bread and a selection of very nice home made jams and marmalade. Erica is a generous and fun hostess who obviously enjoys welcoming guests into her home. Recommended.

    Gina2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Erica's place is well situated for both East and West Cowes, within walking distance of Osborne House, and the bus stops for both Newport and Ryde were on the same street. Erica looks after her guests very well, and you feel like part of the family. Big thanks to Erica for accommodating our latish request for an early start pn the day we left.

  • This little hut is amazing if you are looking for a reasonably priced stay. It has absolutely everything you could ask for. Ten minutes' walk from the town centre, this little treasure is tucked away at the back of Dan and Sarah's house. It is a Shepherd's Hut, so you do only have limited space which suited me fine, as I Iike to lie on the bed and watch TV. Right next door is another hut which is your own private bathroom. Huge bath but no shower. I suggest bringing a pair of flip flops to save you taking your boots or shoes on and off each time you go to the loo. There were 2 lovely plush bath robes as well. Huge choice of teas and coffees with your own fridge, which the hosts had thoughtfully stocked up with milk and pots of jam; there was also a selection of cereal and even Lindt chocolate balls 🤗 You are also in invited to use their kitchen for cooking and eating your meals. I would liken this hut to glamping and for the price you will not find a better accommodation anywhere. Thank you Dan and Sarah

    Irene2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is perfectly priced, if you're looking for an adventurous and different stay on a small budget this is great! It is a kitted summer house/ Shed in the garden with a nice seporate bathroom 10 feet away. Heating is good and definitely required in the winter. Don't expect 5 star accommodation for the price. You get exactly what you pay for and I would definitely stay again if I needed somewhere on the island. Thank you

Stunning house in a stunning location on the Marina, and the breakfast was divine! Highly recommend staying with Elizabeth! Thanks again

  • This is an exceptional place to stay and Elizabeth took care of us very well - thank you for letting us share your home. The location is very quiet. The room and separate bathroom were comfortable and clean, all our needs provided for. The robes and slippers were a nice touch. The breakfast is amazing, so much choice. Could not ask for more. Coffee, teas and biscuits and bottled water available all day too. To sit on the balcony watching the sun set is a perfect way to end the day.

Lisle Court is the ideal base for cycling, walking, sailing, golfing or simply exploring the history and beautiful scenery the Isle of Wight has to offer. You can even fish from our private jetty!
  • A fantastic place to stay if you like space, peace and quiet and a bit of history with it. Eileen is an excellent host and the breakfast was wonderful.

  • Eileen is a fantastic host. Her beautiful home was beyond our expectations. Our room was super large, with a massive en-suite with a separate bath and shower. It had the most stunning views and is really magical. Eileen is is gracious and kind. Her thoughtful touches like tea/biscuits and chocolate treats didn’t go unnoticed. Highly recommend staying here!

  • Fiona's place by far the best Airbnb I have ever stayed. The setting of the cabin is so dreamy, you are literally in the woods isolated from the rest of the world. The wood stove in the common cabin is amazing, not to mention the hot tub outside. It wasn't clear for us but, although it's worth it, hot tub hire is optional with extra charge. We spent the New Year's there, and couldn't be happier with our choice.

  • A great hideaway for couples or family!!! All is provided you need, cosy logfires keep you warm. Space to eat outside in sunshine. You see trees everywhere and there is a gameroom as well. A great space of natural beauty and a good location to explore the Island!!! We will be be back again .

The beds were so comfy and the showers very powerful which was surprising. The hosts were very helpful and we would love to come back in the summer when the weather is better.

  • Our stay at the Isle of Wight was made an enjoyable and memorable one thanks to the Hideaway. Fiona and her husband were both very accommodating, welcoming and attentive which we all appreciated, and staying in the Hideaway was a great, unique experience. The place was cosy, comfortable and homely, the hot tub was a lovely touch and having Tess (their dog) greet us each day was an added bonus! We appreciated the provided welcome pack detailing places around the island we could explore too. All in all, it was a great place to stay and we thank you for your wonderful hospitality!

We have a room to rent in our cottage, close to Cowes and near to the Medina estuary. It’s a lovely country home next to an old church. We live here with our German Shepherd Archer, who is friendly, but if you’re allergic to dogs, this may not be for you. Surrounded by fields, and close to a forest and the Medina estuary, the cottage is a three bedroom house, rustic with country charm of mixed stone and brick. You can feel at home and be private, or communal - it's up to you.
We have fully decorated the room and replaced everything with new including carpet, bed, chair and curtains. The room doesn’t have a TV, although I have a spare available. Breakfast and evening meal is available on request, with shared cost. It’s north facing, although you can see some sailing masts from boats in the estuary. You have full access to the living room, kitchen-diner, utility room (with a washer and dryer), conservatory and garden. The bathroom is a shared downstairs bath, shower, toilet and sink, it's the only bathroom. There is access to an iron, hair dryer and straightener. Smoking is permitted outside. The cottage is our home, so there are photos etc around. It also means that every DIY tool and cooking item you should ever need is available. My wife Sharon and I have travelled a great deal and have stayed in many Airbnb places from a large villa in the Alps, to a converted derelict bus and tepee in France, so we’re used to the Airbnb way. The cottage is surrounded by fields with many foot-paths and a main cycle-route from Cowes to Newport. We have a wood burning stove which is great for chilly nights, although we also have full gas central heating.
We bought our cottage for the location - it's surrounded by fields, forests and the estuary. The island is a wonderful place. We love Cowes and the sailing vibe, but wish to retreat to our cottage for peace and quiet.
  • Stayed here to attend the Isle of Wight festival weekend , bus stop very close and easy to get to and from. Sharron was very kind and gave us a lift to the ferry terminal at the end of our stay. Lovely home and dog :)

  • Homely and awesome kitchen if you love food and cooking your own meals, Sharon's kitchen has everything and we chatted alot about cooking, recipe books and she made it so comfortable it was great to eat some home cooked food on our biking trip. They both great hosts, we were out on the island all day, so coming back to base with fire place and kitchen just perfect. Thank you again.

  • Martin and Sharons home was perfect for a short weekend break. Set in the countryside away from noise and bright lights it was great to relax and get away from it all (and play with Archer the bear like dog). Close to the old railway and cycle paths with a frequent bus 3 mins walk away. Thanks both for welcoming us into your home!!

    Nathan2019-04-22T00:00:00Z

  • Sharon and Martin were both very hospitable! They were extremely prompt with their responses when I sent messages. I also arrived later in the evening, and I appreciated that they let me eat dinner with them. The house is easy to access by bus, with the bus stop located at the top of the lane way!

  • Having visited previously, we were pleased to find the lodge as cosy and relaxing as before. Beautiful setting, back to nature, loved the dogs, peacocks, cat and all other wildlife! Just can't help but relax here with the quiet slow pace. Jim and Sue were as friendly and hospitable as ever, we will be back!

  • If you want to get away from the workaday world and enter a different, better place, come here. The orchard, the animals and twinkling lights at night, wood burner chugging away and the wafting smoke from the garlic smoker will totally transport you. It is a dreamlike place with all the warmth of a family giving you a big hug. Magic!

    Marcia2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time visiting Fernhill Meadow. It is a beautiful place, we stayed in the log cabin in the orchard and it was extremely peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was well equipped and there were so many thoughtful touches, with a hamper waiting for us when we arrived with cheese, wine, homemade chutney and marshmallows for the fire! The setting was beautiful - the orchard was full of apples and pears, there was a little pond and our daughter was fascinated by the peacocks wandering around. Jim and Sue were very welcoming and happy to help with any questions we had. We would very much recommend a trip to Fernhill Meadow.

    Charlotte2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with Jim was great at the point of booking and just before arrival. We met at the agreed spot - so I could be directed down the right lane. The cabin was in a lovely secluded spot - it certainly allowed me time to sit quietly and enjoy the wonderful surroundings. The two dogs were brilliant and not forgetting the rest of the menagerie. Sue and Jim had left a wonderful welcome hamper in the cabin and it certainly came in handy. Would recommend people to stay here if you want peace and quiet.

  • Stayed here whilst visiting the Isle of Wight Festival. This airb&b isn’t far from the festival site and is about a 10 minute bus ride. Also really easy to get to from Cowes. The room was clean and comfy, and Pamela’s hospitality was outstanding. The shower was also really good and an amazing breakfast is provided each morning, convenient for those that are both busy and like a lie-in - a variety of cereals, spreads for toast, fruits and yoghurt. My house is a short distance from the beach, the river and the Isle of Wight ferry terminal at East Cowes. There is a bus stop not too far away and I`m happy to collect foot passengers from the ferry at East Cowes, if I can.. I also have a single (Upstairs ) and a double room to let (downstairs)
I will be around to greet you when you arrive and make you comfortable in your new surroundings.
  • Danielle is the most hospitable host I've met, and the rooms offer some of the best value on Airbnb. A real pleasure to stay here.

  • Stayed there for the second time. My good impression from the first time has not been changed. Looking forward to my next stay.

  • Excellent hospitality. Our original plan was to camp at the site close to this listing. We chose this due to its convenient location on the cycle path between Newport and Cowes, and to save us the bother of cycling with camping equipment. Views over the river are stunning. hosts are very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

  • I received a very warm welcome from Wendy and on arrival was immediately offered a hot drink, my personal preference being tea. and was soon given a pot so plenty for two cups. My room was large with a very comfortable bed so had a very good night's rest after a busy day. The location is very peaceful and is located on a quiet section of the River Medina near to Newport. A good choice of options for breakfast and had the main cooked breakfast which set me up for the day. If this way I would certainly seek to stay again here.

  • Both Wendy and Phil are amazing host, they have a great place and even better hospitality. Big thumps up

  • Sayed 2 nights to visit the IOW festival! A 20 min brisk walk from Newport town centre with beautiful views across the River Medina. Just loved the full English Breakfast each day. Will be back hopefully next year!

  • Wendy and Phil were making me feel welcome right from the start of my stay. Their house is located between the two vestas facilities along the medina river. Breakfast was delicious and I learned a lot about the island. I have no suggestion for improvement but will definitely consider coming again.

Ryde Town Ryde is the largest town on the Isle of Wight, and with its prominent position along the seafront and hovercraft and passenger ferry links it is little wonder it is often referred to as “The Gateway to the Island”. In addition to an expanse of sandy beaches which stretch right along the town, Ryde has a great selection of boutique shops, museums and galleries for you to visit along with lots of other things to see and do along its esplanade. Ryde offers a great variety of things to do which will interest all ages, not least of which are the hovercraft and catamaran ferry from which you can travel to and from the mainland. Hovertravel are the world’s oldest hovercraft operator and operate the last remaining hovercraft passenger service in Britain, whereas a trip on the Wightlink catamaran service will take you down Ryde’s recently restored early 19th century pier, which carries both vehicular traffic and train services. Head along Ryde esplanade and you will encounter a number of great places for family entertainment, including the Superbowl and LaserQuest. Further along there is a fun fair for young children and a very popular canoe lake which leads on to Ryde’s sandy beaches. At low tide the sea goes out a long way making it a popular place for sports and outdoor activities, and a regular venue for beach soccer tournaments.
  • All good - lovely spot, very peaceful and well located to visit different parts of the Island
