  • Lesley and Ed’s place was perfect for us. The cottage is well equipped, spacious and comfortable. Lesley, Ed and Bill are super friendly and we loved the fresh eggs. Our kids had a great time, there is huge garden with the secret tree house ...

  • We had a fantastic stay at Oak cottage, which exceeded our expectations. The cottage was extremely clean, spacious and well equipped. The children thoroughly enjoyed the vast space outside to run around and play, including playing hide and seek in the enclosed woodland and finding the hidden tree house. Thank you to Ed and Lesley and Bill and Janice who had thought of everything, including providing some outdoor game equipment for the children. They were on hand to help with any queries we had and happily helped to fix our car when we found we had a flat tyre one morning! The wi-fi wasn't working very well when we were there but we were assured that it was about to be upgraded. We would definitely recommend Newton Meadows Cottages.

  • A great little apartment, we only had a one night stay but wish it was longer. Everything we needed was there and it was comfortable and clean. Loved the croissants for breakfast too!

    Nancy2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were spending the weekend in the area and needed a place to stay. Nearby hotels seemed a little overpriced so we decided to look on Airbnb and found this little converted barn. The Wright family were very friendly, hospitable and easy to get in touch with any questions. The place was clean, tidy and had all the amenities we needed for the night. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a nice and quiet stay away from the city!

    Elis2019-09-15T00:00:00Z

Our cottage is just outside the pretty village of Malpas; a handy gateway for exploring Chester, Shrewsbury, North Shropshire and North Wales. Ideally positioned for events at Bolesworth Castle (15 mins) and Cholmondeley Castle (15 mins). Or for the quieter time, beautiful country walks and cycle rides can be started from the front door.
Set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside, with breathtakingly beautiful and uninterrupted views to the Welsh hills, this is a place for peace and quiet and to get away from it all.
We are close to popular wedding venues - Iscoed Park (3 miles) and Combermere Abbey (11 miles) Famous event venues: Bolesworth Castle (7 miles), home to Bolesworth International Horse event & Carfest North. Cholmondley Castle (6 miles), home to Tough Mudder and many other national events Many other great places to visit are within easy distance from our door step including: City of Chester (18 miles) Shrewsbury Town (29 miles) Llangollen (20 miles) Ironbridge (41 miles) Snowdonia National Park (55 miles)
  • Caroline and Andrew have been extra-ordinarily welcoming for during our stay with them. The cottage is a lovely little spot in the country side and has some lovely lanes and fields to walk through. We have had a wonderful stay.

    Dan2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great , just like other times

    André2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, more spacious than it looks in the pictures. I loved the bedrooms in particular. The living area is really big. The only thing I would change would be a bit of outside space with a table in the summer (we were there in winter pouring with rain). Also I would take bikes to get to the pub which was quite a trek. The walk from the house is worth doing but again do it when its dry as it was a quagmire (~Storm Dennis).

    Anthea2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is the sort of place where you wake up in the morning and spend a half hour looking at fields in the doorway with your morning coffee. It’s an actual cottage off a bigger house, not a conversion: the log burner is nice, the cottage easily sleeps 4/5 (one double bed) and has a decent L-couch which is always a deal sealer for me. As to location it’s real countryside and you come across the odd horse or two in the lanes (drive slowly), but there is a village high street with a co-op and a good chippy less than 10 mins drive away. I hear the bakery is also good although I didn’t try. Great place to get away from it all for a week with proximate amenities.

    Patrick2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a few nights away stayed here for work but will definitely be returning with the wife for a few nights

    Luke2020-01-24T00:00:00Z

  • Great value, cosy getaway. Would stay again :)

    Jamie2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Great communication and the cottage is nicely set out. Nice setting, ideal for exploring the area. Great for the dogs to.

    Darryl2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Piggery Cottage was ideal for our short stay. My one concern was warmth, but the little heaters worked really well and we were as warm as toast. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen provided all we needed for a simple meal. The shower cubicle is a generous size and the electric shower was perfectly adequate. Connecting to wifi was straightforward and worked well to stream music and also Netflix via a FireStick. So all in all it was a little home from home and very relaxing. We didn't meet Hilary but the key arrangements were seamless and we had plenty of privacy given that the cottage is adjacent to the owner's house. We visited Ironbridge and took a bit of a road trip as far as Snowdonia. A very good base for a very wide area, no shortage of scenery and places of interest. The nice touches such as bread, butter etc etc have often been mentioned, but we also appreciated other "basics" that are often lacking in cottages, such as washing up liquid, loo cleaner, sufficient loo roll and shower gel. We would definitely stay here again, many thanks Hilary.

    Alison2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly as advertised. Small, efficient, clean, cozy space providing a great stop off for amazing walks or exploring cities.

    Adam2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at The Granary! The whole experience was so easy and so relaxing. From the lovely accommodation, to the huge book of tips for the local area and information we might need, the whole trip was just perfect. The spa was so relaxing, and it was amazing to be able to go for a swim everyday. It wasn't busy at all, and we had the pool to ourselves most of the time, managing to share it with the other guests on site. The location is perfect, and only 20 minutes outside of Shrewsbury. We will definitely be back again!

    Ellen2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place in a spectacular rural setting, close to many attractions. The on-site spa is a wonderful extra. Rachel could not have been more hospitable, the cottage and its contents were spotless and everything necessary was provided. The whole experience was a model of how great airbnb can be at its best. Just one note: the Granary (one of the three cottages on site) is up a steep flight of outdoor steps and would be difficult for anyone mobility impaired.

We are situated in the picturesque countryside outside the market town of Wem. It is very peaceful and a perfect holiday location with many fascinating locations nearby to explore; the busy county town of Shrewsbury with its river life and independent shops and plenty of places to eat out, the Wilfred Owen birthplace at Oswestry and also the world heritage site of the Pontcysllte Aquaduct at Llangollen to name but a few.
The Stableroom offers you a private living space with both a double bed and a single bed. It has a roomy en suite shower room. There is a TV, DVD player and a selection of DVD's plus a radio cassette with tapes. Tea and coffee making facilities and a microwave are available for your use. You can also cook on the BBQ. There is also an outdoor table tennis table and a beautiful garden in which to relax. A further double room is available in the house for bigger groups and for visitors who only want a one night stay.
Our house is on a country lane near the little market town of Wem where there is a supermarket and plenty of smaller shops such as greengrocers, butchers, grocers to buy provisions. There are also several cafes and tea rooms plus take-aways and a fish and chip shop. The Castle Hotel on the main street has an evening menu (excluding Sundays) and there are a number of restaurants and take aways. It takes only 20 minutes to walk into Wem on the Shropshire Way across the fields and therefore is popular with those guests who want to take a walk with their dog. The area is full of lovely places to hike both in the hills and along the Shropshire Union Canal and by the meres at Ellesmere and Colemere.
  • Lovely place and really cosy for a couple to use as a base to explore the beautiful surroundings. Gabrielle and Tim are so helpful and I would highly recommend. We will definitely use again when we are up this end.

  • Cosy room in quiet location. Easy to find with friendly hosts. Gabrielle responded quickly and we were able to book at short notice. Great place for a short break. Only a mile into Wem for food and shops.

  • Had a lovely welcome at the Stableroom and really enjoyed our brief stay, which was perfect for our needs. Gabrielle and her husband were great hosts who'd even thought of a bottle of milk for the mini-fridge. We'd already planned our onward travel, but the local tips were great and I've filed them in the brainbox for another time in the area; and I've been inspired to grow fennel next year.

    Daniel2019-08-03T00:00:00Z

Very spacious and on one level, It has one bedroom with twin beds or a super king size bed ( please let us know which beds you would like made up)with a TV and en suite wet room. Victorian style main bathroom with claw feet bath. The lounge has a double bed settee, electric fire ,TV with DVD player. Externally there is a patio over looking the fields with a BBQ and a free large car park and free WiFi
This listing is unique because of its space and the wow factor it has.
We are only 2 miles from a picturesque village Bangor-on Dee which is set on the river Dee and has 2 country pubs, Hairdresser’s, shop and a race course. We are only 10 minutes from the market town of Wrexham which offers lot’s of thing to do, 20 minutes from Llangollen and 40 minutes from the historic town’s Chester and Shrewsbury.
  • This place is amazing, by far the best Airbnb I have stayed in so far. It’s huge for a 1 bed place, no expense spared on fittings and fixtures and very comfortable and cozy. My 1 little niggle is the Wi-Fi is very hit and miss and phone signal is virtually non existent. They quality of the place out weighs this though and the homemade Victoria sponge Tracey leaves is OMG.

A cosy cottage in the idyllic market town of Ellesmere. A short walk from the mere itself and the park, together with all the town's amenities and the canal. Several pubs, restaurants and cafes are within a 10 minute walk. The location is ideal for exploring the north and West of Wales together with Cheshire and Shropshire. This property is conveniently situated close to the town's main bus stop providing links to Shrewsbury and Gobowen railway station. A lovely area to explore.
A cosy cottage with a well equipped galley kitchen, a separate dining room with work space and a comfy chair ideal for curling up with a book and a living room equipped with a television, a selection of DVDs and books and a record player - bring your own records or listen to our collection.
Ellesmere is a quaint English market town near the Welsh border. It is a quiet town but there are often events going on especially on the weekends. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within walking distance of the property and a visit to the nearby Cremorne gardens, by the Mere, is a must. Ellesmere is a fantastic place for walking and cycling - and leaflets recommending routes are kept in the cottage.
  • Great stay lovely place

  • A lovely cosy cottage. Great situation with everything you could need for a great stay.

    Stephen2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful venue. A beautiful little cottage, situated only a short walk from the centre of Ellesmere and the Mere itself. Well equipped house, particularly for those with small children. Nice little touches, like the selection of teas provided as well as cooking basics. The very responsive host even replied to my questions late at night quickly. The only drawback I can think of is that the drive is a bit narrow; there is, however, on-street parking nearby if you struggle to get your car in. A thoroughly pleasant stay and a great host. Thank you!

    Adam2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little place with everything you need for a comfortable stay and a very helpful host. We really appreciated Pip's flexibility with our potentially changing plans. The parking space is a little tight, but we managed it in one go with Ford Fiesta :)

  • Very well equipped including baby facilities; toys; board games; radios. Very efficient central heating. Great size shower cabinet. Separate dining room. Pretty, quaint location within 'olde worlde' small town by the beautiful Mere RSBP (Water fowl)with play area, Visitors Centre and choice of cafe and excellent restaurant.

  • We loved our stay at Charlotte's Web, the cottage is cosy with a great well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds and everything we needed for our short stay. We met Pip in her shop where we popped in for some lovely tasty treats, and she was super lovely and helpful. Thanks to her top tips we finally mastered (in in one!) the parking space on our final night!

    Roz2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is warm and cosy, with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Shower is good and strong.

    Clare2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Charlotte's Web is a clean, cosy cottage close to all amenities. Pip was very helpful and welcoming. We had a lovely couple of days away and would recommend Ellesmere to anyone visiting Shropshire. Beautiful walks, friendly people and great places to eat. Do pop into Moolah, a shop containing delicious produce and a few locally made crafts.

Cosy and comfortable cottage in the heart of Ellesmere. Plenty of character with the original part of the building dating back to the late 1700's but with all the modern amenities you could wish for. Beautiful surroundings with Mere and canal walks close by. Ellesmere has pubs, eateries and independent shops as well as being served by supermarkets to cater to all your needs. Shrewsbury, Chester and glorious North Wales are all within easy driving distance.
A real home from home, Apple Tree Cottage will be entirely yours for your stay. A welcome pack is provided of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits along with some other useful items and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need to cater for yourselves. There is a washer/dryer for your convenience and if you are staying longer than a week, fresh bedding and towels will be provided. One parking space at the bottom of the garden but there is a public car park very near with very cheap rates.
Ellesmere has the largest mere outside of the Lake District with many others locally. Moscow Island on The Mere is a famous breeding place for Herons. The Shropshire Union and Llangollen canals also provide wonderful walks and cycling opportunities. The cottage is a stone's throw from the historic White Hart Inn. The Boathouse restaurant and cafe at The Mere is perfect for lunch or just a coffee overlooking the water.

  • Great stay at Beverley’s. The place was warm and cosy and had great added touches like blankets and essentials. All very clean and tidy and plenty of space for all of the stuff we brought along. Comfy beds and good sheets, all seemed lovely quality. She left the heating and a light on for us for arrival which was perfect. Really quick communication as I had left it a little last minute for a few things. I would definitely stay here again, we all had a great stay.

    André2020-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place to stay and had a really relaxing time for 10days. The area is really friendly and everything you need. Beverley is very helpful and she added little touches to the place that makes it special.... flowers, tea, coffee, new soap, bread, butter etc... It's also nice to see that owners aren't using the cheapest things to fill the house but treat it as if they are living there, that's what Beverley has done. Outstanding. Thank you again, I will definitely stay again and reccomend!!

    Joel2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Clare’s place is great and highly recommended - we had a fab weekend! It’s a brand new converted roof space above the garage so away from the main house with a private entrance. The room is spacious, light and beautifully decorated with a comfy king bed and lovely sofa and 3 windows with great views. Superclean separate bathroom with excellent shower. TV & Wifi. Tea/Coffee/Croissants/Jam (kettle & toaster) were provided and we ate breakfast on the table and chairs in their fabulous garden. Loppington is a tiny pretty village with a very nice pub. They weren’t serving evening meals over bank holiday but there are lots of lovely villages a couple of miles away so plenty of choice (tho need to drive really) – we ate at Junoon Indian restaurant in Wem, the Sun Inn at Welshampton & the Red Lion at Ellesmere and would recommend all of them. Loppington is a great base to explore Shropshire – we did loads of easy walking in picture perfect countryside and alongside canal. Thanks Clare! Would definitely return.

The Snuggery is a cosy getaway within the grounds of my family home. With its own front door, it has been recently refurbished to a high standard and overlooks the garden and Wych Valley. There is a French style king size bed along with a separate kitchenette and shower room. The shared driveway is secure with electric gates. We are located in beautiful countryside on the the borders of Cheshire, Shropshire and Wales, less than a mile from Iscoyd Park and very accessible, just off the A41.
The hamlet of Higher Wych is a very rural, yet very accessible place to stay. The Snuggery is located at the back of my family home and is fully private with its own front door to allow you to come & go at your leisure. It has a small kitchen but please note that there is no oven or hob. However there is a kettle, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer etc. On arrival I will provide milk, eggs & bread and other basics such as toilet rolls, soap & washing up liquid. I can also provide a continental breakfast hamper with homemade fruit compote, granola, yogurt, pastries and juice at an extra cost of £5 per person on request. Within the bedroom there is a French style king size bed, hooks to hang your clothes & a small table from which to relax or work. The shower room has towels provided along with other essentials such as a first aid kit, sewing kit, shoe polish & even spare tights & cufflinks!! If you are attending a local wedding they all could be needed!! This is a no smoking property and although the policy is no pets, I do have an outdoor kennel on request. There is also secure storage for bikes if required. We have various well behaved (usually!) animals on site including our donkeys, Josh & Wendy, chickens, Ember the Labrador & Big Puss!
I live in the small hamlet of Higher Wych, a beautiful rural location with rolling countryside on the Cheshire, Welsh, Shropshire borders. My property overlooks the valley through which the Wych Brook flows. Local tourist attractions include Chester Zoo, Erddig & Chirk National Trust properties, Bolesworth Castle (inc Carfest), Cholmondeley Castle & the soon to be open BeWILDwood Cheshire. If you would rather a more relaxing break, there are many walks and cycling routes from the front door. We were travelling with two young children so it was great to have room for them to play in the apartment and lovely green space outside. Our three year old son loved the swing and trampoline. This place is amazing, we stayed for 2 nights & only left the place for a good walk & fresh air...we took all our own food & drink so why would we need to leave this stylish comfortable home. It's a must visit & the views are amazing. We will definitely return in the future.

  • Gabrielle and Tim gave me a very warm welcome. It was a real pleasure staying with them and they couldn’t have made me feel more welcome and at home. My room and bathroom were clean and tidy .The room was quiet with tea making facilities and I had a view from my comfortable bed over the fields. I had a very good breakfast which included home made bread and fresh eggs from their chickens which set me up nicely for a day’s cycling. I certainly recommend them to anyone passing near by.

    Robert2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Gabrielle and Tim in their cottage is an enjoyable experience. They made me feel very welcome after a long day’s cycling with tea and refreshments and willingly put themselves out for me. I had two comfortable night’s sleep there and could look out over the fields from my quiet bedroom. I had a cereal for breakfast in their kitchen which included eggs from their chickens. Wem station is in easy walking distance along local footpaths enabling me to visit Shrewsbury on a rest day from cycling. For me, Gabrielle is definitely a super host.

  • We had a wonderful stay with Roz and Phil, they were so friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The work they've done to build such a unique place is incredible. Perfect for anyone looking for peace, tranquillity and a bit of quirkiness. We will definitely be back.

    Luke2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great quirky place with fabulous hosts Roz and Phil. Roz and Phil were always there if needed, they also charged my phone and iPad for me. They have so many interesting stories to tell and love showing you around the place. We stayed in the silo, it was basic but comfortable. The separate kitchen and bathroom facilities were clean and basic but with everything you needed. The accomadation was stocked with games and books for a rainy day. This place is secluded and rural, so remember to stock up on food and other supplies or be prepared to drive. When Roz and Phil can help they are most obliged to give you charcoal and fire lighters if they have them also wood is available to purchase from them to use in your own private fire pit! Very relaxing and chilled weekend. I had a crochet lesson with Roz, I'm happy I can now crochet with the basics but with Rozs book 'Crochet for beginners' I will be knitting scarves in no time! Thanks for a lovely weekend we will definitely be staying st some point over the school holiday.

  • Absolutely fantastic accommodation and facilities. Has everything you could need for a peaceful getaway. Great that there is an additional private kitchen and Toilet\Shower. If you are after privacy and seclusion in a beautiful spot then this is the place. Phil and Roz were very welcoming and were on hand to answer ant questions etc. We had a lovely peaceful weekend and would definitely recommend The Acorns.

    Jon2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Had such a fantastic stay in the silo/gypsy caravan! Roz and Phil are some of the nicest, most interesting people we've met, which most definitely made the experience even better. If you are looking to escape and competely get back to nature, then this place will give you that and more. The silo is so unique and fun, with a lovely pound view. The separate kitchen area is a great space, we loved the glass windows Phil had made. Thank you once again for the great hospitality and the marrow/jam, they were delicious. Xx

  • Great place to stay. The room is very very well equipped for everything you need and it's in a really nice location. And it has underfloor heating which was nice! I came with my dog, there were lots of nice dog walks nearby and a short walk into town, but it is a £10 charge for pets. Would definitely recommend though and would stay there again, and Nicky is a really nice host and check in check out, and communication was perfect.

  • Great location and facilities for single use. (note-the room can be linked to adjacent accommodation). The room was comfortable, clean, and cosy during this cold spell. I was impressed with Nick’s choice of ground coffee offered in the accommodation.

  • Nicky’s place was easy to find, even at night. Check in and check out was straight forward too. The property is self contained and very comfortable indeed. The space is spotlessly clean and well equipped. There is parking and I felt safe within the property. I recommend Nicky’s place a 100% 👍🏽

    Rose2018-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great little studio, has everything you need and very clean. Nicky is lovely and she was on hand when I needed help. Only downside was a £10 charge for a dog and a small bed, but made up for by the excellent location. It’s next to the mere and walking distance to town, and easy to travel by car to other local lakes and walks.

We had private use of the very large clean hot tub, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had no negative experiences at all, and were very well supported by Keith with any queries. Fabulous location close to explore Snowdonia, the historic town of Shrewsbury, where Medieval buildings abound, Ellesmere & the Meres & Mosses. The area has stunning walking, terrific pubs & canoeing on the Severn. Our gorgeous barn between Loppington & Burlton with own driveway. Upstairs are 2 beautiful bedrooms & a lovely bathroom. Downstairs is a small sitting room (TV/DVD) & a bright, well-equipped kitchen opening onto a stunning little private garden with far-reaching views.
We converted this section of our barn in 2012 and since then it has been lovingly used. It is light and airy and has such a lovely feel about it. The views in all directions are of unspoiled countryside. The kitchen is a little vertically challenged so be careful of the centre beam if you are very tall but upstairs was built for giants. One bedroom is bright light and airy with huge views and big windows. The other is large with twin vintage beds and a deep and sumptuous feel. There is a collection of stunning original works of art and curious to admire.
There are great local pubs in all directions - The Dickin Arms in Loppington (1 mile) has just been totally renovated and is one of the best country gastro-pubs in the area. The New Inn at Baschurch, The Red Lion in Middle, The Burlton Inn in Burlton and The Boathouse at Ellesmere are a short drive or taxi-ride away. Shrewsbury is a little known and totally adorable town filled with medieval history, architecture and home to Darwin. In the evenings there are wine bars and restaurants overlooking the river, Theatre Severn and music clubs. There are fabulous walks including Grinshill, the Cliffe, along the Long Mynd, around Colemere and onwards to Llangollen and Snowdonia. You can hire canoes on the River Severn and spend the most memorable time paddling down the river, passing swans and kingfishers along the way. You can rent bikes in Llangollen or take a narrow boat on the Shropshire Union Canal The area packed with things to do.
  • This beautiful quaint barn was absolutely perfect for us - 3 girls exploring Shrewsbury. It has everything you need including a games room. Ideally located for lots of walks and only 20 minutes from the pretty town of Shrewsbury. Sasha was such a wonderful host, we felt so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. I can highly recommend staying at the Malt Barn and we will certainly be staying again!

  • Simply gorgeous. Kind host, helpful notes in the cottage, beautiful setting and easy to get around to many lovely towns in Shropshire. One of the best AirBnBs we've visited!
