Rutland Water

Rutland Water is within walking distance from the cottage and has a wide range of activities around its shores. These include fishing, watersports, cycle hire, a climbing wall and sailing (all with tuition available). It also has the largest AquaPark in Europe in the Summer and is home to the British Birdwatching Fair. For family entertainment, there's an adventure playground, mini golf and Bugtopia Zoo.
There are two cycle hire stores at Rutand Water's North and South shores - Whitwell and Normanton. Hire bikes include mountain bikes, electric bikes, tandems and kids’ bikes. Helmets and route maps are also provided. The range of bicycles available to hire means that it is available for all abilities and includes motorised bikes, tandems and toddler buggies. The cycle paths are all off road and well maintained. Should you want to circumnavigate the whole lake, you have two lengths to choose from....either 17 miles or (if you include the Hambleton peninsula) 26 miles.
