Highland Bakery has an excellent brunch- our favorites are the sweet potato pancakes and the fried chicken benedict! This restaurant also doubles as a cafe bakery, and there are many enticing goodies at the front.

We love Park Tavern, especially in the evenings, because you get a fantastic view of the city while you eat/hang out! It's a great spot to watch an Atlanta sunset. We like the food a lot, and the menu is varied enough to suit any mood or diet. Sometimes they have live bands, which are fun- for some big events a ticket is required in advance to go. Connected to Piedmont Park, Park Tavern is an easy place to wrap up your time exploring. Also, if it rains they do $2 drafts.

Pittypat's has some of the best fried chicken we have ever found. Aside from that, there is a smorgasbord of Southern sides set up salad-bar style to accompany your meal. (Note, this isn't a "cheap" restaurant, entrees are $20-$30).

Even though Cypress is better known for its bar and $3 house beers, we like to go for happy hours on Fridays (5-7 pm) to make a dinner out of the half-price apps.

This is one of our favorite spots! Walking distance from our place, this local brewery has awesome food (the Wu Fries and burgers are excellent). Not only is Torched Hop a great restaurant/brewery, but it is a fun place to hang out- bocce ball, Nintendo 64 Mario Kart, shuffleboard, board games, etc.

Sightseeing

Commemorating the 1996 Olympic Games held in Atlanta, Centennial remains a local hotspot. It is a central point to many tourist attractions, like the Aquarium, World of Coke, and the ferris wheel. There's a little fountain show set to music that goes off every few hours. This place also has a giant Christmas tree in December!

Everything Else

Ponce City Market has everything, so it can't be confined to one category! The first level has shopping and some restaurants, the second level is full of pop up dining with cuisine from all over the world, and the rooftop is modeled after Coney Island! Whether you want to shop, eat, grab a drink, or play putt putt and carnival games while overlooking the city, PCM is your place!

Krog Street Market is a neat place to visit due to its atmosphere. It has several nice restaurants, more casual "pop up" dining spots, ice cream, and a bar serving local beer. Scattered around Krog Street are several local shops as well. Krog Street is also right off the Atlanta Beltline.

Parks & Nature

Piedmont Park is on the Atlanta Beltline, and there is always something going on here! It's huge, and attracts joggers, photographers, tourists, etc. If you've seen "What to Expect When You're Expecting" you may recognize the scenes from the dads' walking group ;) (Note, the map keeps pulling up "Piedmont Park Greystone," which is the conservatory. We haven't been there, but Piedmont Park is so large this address would still get you to the area).
