Parts of this pretty road are closed for Bicycle Sunday in the summer, May through September. It's beautiful to walk on and there is good views and beach access.

Neighborhoods

My house is on the border between Columbia City and Hillman City. If you cut through the Orca school (if not in session), go a block and turn left, go down the hill about 5 blocks, you will be on Hudson St, Columbia City, Royal Room on the left, Tutta Bella on the right (great pizza, gelato, salads, coffee).
This neighborhood used to be a city of its own until it annexed to the city of Seattle in 1906. It has some great stores and restaurants as well as a movie theater that used to house a fraternal organization. Columbia City Theater and the Royal Room are both places to hear live music.

My house is equally between Hillman City and Columbia City so check out both if you have the time. Hillman City has a cafe, a few bars, a brewery owned by women, Amy's Merkato which is a store and a restaurant, the Collaboratory which is a community space and will have the "Wildly Popular Doughnut Pop-up" The Flour Box. It also has the expensive small restaurant (Filipino cuisine) Archipelago.

This park has a Food Forest, a playground, a golf course, and is a good place to take a walk (although walking on Beacon Ave is a bit scary with the RV encampments). Restaurants going north on Beacon Ave including the Perihelion.

Easy place to shop, expensive but lots of good food, salad and hot bar, take out sandwiches, and a bathroom (you have to ask for code)!

You can walk to the Link is 20 minutes (it's downhill!). The Link is $2.50 (I think) and is honor system. It will take you downtown or the University district or the Northgate area.
