Civil war

This was part of the civil war defenses erected around the Capitol and its only 2 blocks away. Now part of the “fort circle parks”
It’s a bit overgrown but has US Civil War significance. We were delighted to discover it after we moved to Brookland. It has several trails up the hill and deer and foxes can be sighted there.

Food scene

Always great food & local atmosphere. When there was a storm and we lost power & water our server sent us home with a tequila bottle full of water! So neighborly!

Neighborhoods

It’s almost suburban, lots of single family houses, long term residents. But so much new development and new businesses as well.
