City advice

Getting around

Best application for getting around is CITYMAPPER

You'll see all the different ways to travel to your destination, time, ticket prices.
Ways to save

Uber is cheaper than Black Cab

Although it's very "London like" to catch a black cab on the street, Uber will be safer & cheaper.
Ways to save

For a Thames cruise use "Thames Clippers"

No need to buy an expensive Thames cruise ticket (usually around £20 per person) - instead pay with your topped up Oyster card before boarding and use Thames Clipper. This is the official Transport For London river boat that will cost you only £7-12 depending on what route you want to take. You can see their route map & timetable on the Citymapper application also.
Getting around

Don't buy travel "Day tickets"

Cheapest is to pay-as-you-go. If you only travel around by buses that day, you'll be capped at £4.50 (3 bus rides) and after that you ride the buses for free that day. Also there's a 1 hour "Hopper fare" in London - within one hour you can take as many different buses you need to get to your destination, and you'll only be charged for one fare £1.50 (This only applies to bus travel, not mixing bus & tube) If you mix bus& tube travel, still cheaper to pay as you go instead of a "day ticket".
Ways to save

Enjoy FREE walking tours

London offers loads of free walking tours (themed ones about Jack The Ripper, or Harry Potter, or famous rock music places) - you need to google & book in advance though. After the free tour you'll usually have the opportunity to give a cash tip to the tour guide.
