Hiking and Sightseeing
The hiking trails at Ponca State Park are excellent! They can be anywhere from 1-4 miles long, and have beautiful, forested views throughout. Here is a list of the specific trails and their lengths: http://outdoornebraska.gov/poncatrails/. Here is another place to find out about all their activities and attractions: http://outdoornebraska.gov/ponca/. It's also fun to bring a picnic lunch and eat at one of the many picnic tables at the bottom of the trails. Make sure to stop by the information center to get a map before you go. The information center also has a small museum showing the original peoples and animals that inhabited the space. You can also go by the river--it's a great place for kids to find "treasures". I go there on my own, and also take my family. Fantastic for everyone!

Sioux City, IA - This is a lake with 3 miles of bike paths/running paths around it. Leashed dogs are welcome! Really peaceful and lots of forested area around the trail makes it quite private as well. One of my favorite walking spots.

Yankton, SD - Such a beautiful lake. I grew up coming here and boating. You can rent a boat, canoe, jet skis, etc. There are fantastic bike trails and decent beaches here. Beautiful scenery. Great restaurants around the area too!
