Food Scene

Tide Cafe is run by a talented and friendly guy called Sam Lomas who worked/apprenticed with Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall, and he produces delicious meals using quality local ingredients and baked goods to be enjoyed on the outside seating area looking out over the menai straits and the mountains. Great coffee and amazing sourdough pizzas on Thursday and Saturdays! pre-order on his website and pick up to eat by the seashore.

My favourites beauty spots

My favourite place on the planet! Amazing sandy beaches stretching for miles with the stunning llandwyn island to explore, not to mention the forest with all the different tracks, great for cycling around. There is usually a charge to enter the car park (£5) however right now ( end of july) I believe they allow 400 cars into the car park for free, and then shut the gates. If the car park is full you could drive further on to the forest car park and cycle or walk (long) to the beach.

Great place to go for a walk, the ogwen valley or nant ffrancon is a thing of beauty, the natural shape created by the glaciers back in the day. Walk around Llyn ideal, swim, climb higher or just feast your eyes. Also, the beginning of some more serious mountain climbs begins here, like Tryfan or Pen or ole wen.

wild swimming

Wild swimming in the river! It is not the caravan park that I am recommending but the swimming spot just next to it, a gem Cold, refreshing, amazing. Get in!
