Hiking/Running/Activities

Discovery Park is 534 acres. There are miles of trails that lead to beautiful bluffs, open fields (perfect for laying out or kite flying on windy days), the beach and even a lighthouse. It has tennis and basketball courts, a playground and cultural center.

Sightseeing

The Ballard Locks is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Seattle. It’s where the fresh water of Lake Washington meets the salt water of Elliot Bay. Several species of salmon use the fish ladder to breed. It’s a great place to see lots of wildlife (seals, blue herons, bald eagles, etc.) and watch the boats being raised and lowered into each body of water. It’s all only a short walk away.
