Sightseeing

This is a good 1/2 hours walk from the cottage or 10 minute drive. This is New Zealands 2nd most visited place. Seeing the rock formation up close from the result of the 2016 earthquake is quite picturesque.

Alway a very special event to see the Whales. Do take sea sickness tablets before hand if you aren't one of the worlds best sailors. Or take them in with a helicopter or plane trip instead - Available at the local airport.

Who wouldn't want to swim with Dolphins, You can see them playing quite often from our front deck or lounge window. But you can't replace up front and personal. Everyone enjoys this experience. Why don't you?

Just to the left of the cottage is the Pier Hotel. Moved from the original place at the old wharf, it is very popular for their meals and idealic setting. Make sure you book as they get very busy!

This is the place for morning tea! Lots of homemade goodies and a lovely restful garden to sit in at the back while you take a moment from the hustle and bustle of the main street.

City/town information

Kai meaning food, and koura meaning crayfish. Kaikoura is a quaint town, not quite caught up with modern day. And I mean that in the best way. Its very friendly and everyone who lives there loves their town. Fabulous sea food where every you go!

Useful Shopping

Anton and Janine will welcome you with a smile and a bit of banter when you enter their amazing shop. If you need anything - fishing, clothing, hunting related - they will help you find it. And if they haven't got it, they will order it in for you. I'm pretty sure they do fishing trips as well??!
