Sightseeing

Hike across the dunes to Holywell Bay - much of Poldark was filmed here. Find the holy wells in the caves at low tide. On the way to Holywell (on the back road from Perranporth to Cubert) there is an excellent pub called the Smugglers in a lovely setting with outdoor seating.

Cornwall’s little cathedral city has many coffee houses, restaurants and pubs with outside eating. We would recommend the Hubox and The Old Grammar School. Truro has criss-crossed cobbled streets, ideal for browsing the local shops. It also has a cinema, museum and bowling alley. Nearby there are walks along the river by Malpas. The Heron Pub has great views down the valley and good food.

The Beacon is one of our favourite places. It offers amazing views along the Cornish coast; St Ives to the west and Trevissick head in the east. There are some interesting gift shops and good places to eat. Tapas bar, The Canteen and Green Room. The beach and Blue Hills bay is great on a calm day to swim around and jump from rocks. Near by is a small village called Mithian. The Miners Arms offers a good range of food.

Another beautiful beach. Stunning walks around the headland to a tiny quiet cove called Porth/Polly Joke. The Jam Jar restaurant is worth a visit, with locally sourced cakes, bread, an outdoor pizza oven and bar.
