Our favorite public beach access

We prefer to ride the bikes to the far N. end, and there’s a bike rack at public beach access #4. Then about a 100’ walk to a more secluded, quiet area.

Public Beach Access

Main public beach entrance is on Beach Rd 2 blocks from our house. Easy walk. Public beach is a people watching kinda place and the closest so that’s fun. The concession stand is good, bathrooms are nicer than not, bike racks, shelter, lifeguard stands, etc. they do sell margaritas at the concession area!! :)

City advice

Don't miss

Beach Walk/Run

If you walked from our place thru the public beach entry and take a LEFT, went all the way down to the wall, that’s about 2 miles, then home makes it about a 4-mile walk. If you do the opposite and walk to the RIGHT after entering the public beach and go to the American Flag and back that’s about 3.5 miles round trip or if you are up for it do the entire length of the beach and back to the house for a total, I believe of around 7.5 miles. It’s great for the soul at any time of day.
Getting around

Grocery Shopping

Publix is your best bet for groceries, if I were you, I would stop before crossing the bridge and get whatever you want. It’s at state route 41 and Stickney point. Once you cross the bridge into siesta key, my opinion is there’s no reason to leave the key and go back to mainland. Crossing the bridge(s) can be slow and once you are at siesta, there’s no reason to drive again and just relax. You can ride bikes or walk to anything you need. You can ride bikes to the village daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, a cute lil grocery store, awesome mini donut stand, and a liquor store.
