This was an industrial wasteland and sea of mud when I moved to Wales 30 years ago. Its a fabulous regeneration project with an eclectic range of buildings, eateries and things to do.

This whole stretch of coast, from Aberthaw to Porthcawl, is fantastic. Vast beaches (at low tide!), dramatic cliffs, fossil beds, historic sites. Visit the Centre for more information adjacent my favourite beach.

Chocolate box village of thatched cottages with beautiful church, and close to the huge sand dunes. The photo attached is Ogmore castle, nearby, but accessed via ancient stepping stones across the River Ogwr (can be treacherous around high tide).
