Sightseeing

Ripley Castle makes for an enjoyable visit - inhabited by the same family for generations, lots to see and do. I particularly like the kitchen garden and the guided tour around the castle is excellent. The village is also owned by the family and is very attractive; it was rebuilt to look like a French village and even has its own Hotel de Ville. Also famous for ice creams - apparently world famous. It's a must!

Great stately home and has an excellent guided tour. If you are into your flowers, then the deep borders here are superb. Cafe, miniature railway, dolls house exhibition and teddy bear collection.

Spa town surrounded by acres of grass called The Stray. Beautiful town with shops and restaurants to visit. A must is Bettys and you have to have their afternoon tea - it is an institution!

Full of independent shops and the world's oldest sweet shop (as verified by the Guiness Book of Records!) Very near to your holiday venue and a good starting place for walks up and down the dale. Fancy seeing lead mines? How about Nidderdale Museum, full of so much historical artefacts about Nidderdale? A great little place!

Food scene

You could walk to this pub - 45 minutes across a footpath near the Nidderdale Glamping car park and then join the road to Fellbeck. Particular favourite is lasagne - tasty!

Lovely pub and good food - work up an appetite and walk across the fields to it. Leave yourself about an hour to do it.
