The historic Eastern Market is the oldest continually operating food market in the city. Completed in 1873, the historic brick exterior is a jewel in the neighborhood and the center of activity. On Saturday and Sundays throughout the year, 7th Street, in front of the market, is closed off for a farmer's and artisan market. Inside, you'll find a dozen various food vendors. We are a big fan of the rotisserie chickens from the vendor on the south end - we get them every week!

The largest of the Capitol Hill parks, this is the gathering place of the neighborhood. Great for people watching, you will catch locals picnicking on blankets, people reading on benches, dogs galore, and kids running around the playground. There is always something going on!

The Nats are our favorite local team and we are big baseball fans! We love catching games with our family and Rob and Torrey always try to make Opening Day. The Navy Yard neighborhood around the ballpark is filled with tons of dining options for before and after the game, as well.

The country's first modern art museum housed in a former Gilded Age mansion in Dupont Circle. Off the beaten path from the galleries and museums on the National Mall, this place is really special.

The National Arborteum is off the beaten path and definitely a favorite of our family to visit. They have tons of different trees, plants, and flowers to admire, as well as a crazy collection of bonsai. This is a wonderful place to see the cherry blossoms if you don't want to deal with the crowds around the Tidal Basin.

Such a fun place to hang out with friends or family! Tons of outdoor space and so many food vendors that there is an option to fit anyone's palate. This was DC's real first food hall that first opened in 2010 and has inspired many copycats!

Best bagels in the city (and this is coming from someone who grew up in the NYC suburbs!). The cacio e pepe cream cheese is to die for and you can’t go wrong with our other favorites like the Pastrami Sun City and The Royal Palm. Order ahead — always a long line, especially on weekends!

Best ramen in the city in a funky upstairs space. People waited for hours to slurp up soup for years after this spot opened. Wait times are a little more reasonable now, but the ramen is still just as delicious.

La Casina is a great neighborhood restaurant for "pinsa" which is a type of pizza with unique combinations. Their other outpost is in Rome (the owners are Italian), so you know this place is authentic. We also particularly enjoy the Aperol spritz on tap.

This is a great brewery with tons of outdoor seating (and heat lamps in cold weather) in an old industrial building. Also super family friendly and you can bring your own food or order from an array of restaurants in the neighborhood.
