In the very heart of the county town, towering over the River Eske, stands Donegal Castle. Red Hugh O’Donnell himself built it as his personal fortress in the fifteenth century. Tours available.

Fintra beach is a beautiful Blue Flag awarded sandy beach just a couple of kilometers outside the fishing port of Killybegs. It is approached by a steep road down to it which offers stunning views of both the beach and Donegal Bay as far as Benbulben mountain in County Sligo. There is a car park beside the beach with portaloos and a few stone steps leading down to the beach.
