Beach day

Parking can get busy during peak season, a field is opened for summer- payment is via honesty box. £2 low season £4 high season. Wonderful beach hut cafe serving reasonably priced food & drinks with plenty of choice. Stunning views, and a must for swimming- life guards present during the summer. We especially enjoy the coastal path from Perranuthnoe- walking towards St Michaels mount, with a secret cove pebble beach along the way.

Stunning and quaint little harbour full of charm and my (Stephs) favourite place on earth! Even the drive through Penzance and Newlyn is exciting, with a real old fishing village feel. Wonderful for swimming without the waves, sandy surround to the harbour is excellent for sandcastles and ice cream stops! Lovely little local cafe called "The Pilchard press" - serves great mackerel pate with toast! Have a wander around, do some seal spotting and sit back against the stone walls for a bit of sun and relaxation. Car park next to harbour- however does get full quickly, further parking located at "The Rockpool cafe".

Perfect for a full day out soaking up the sun, sea and sand.Around 20 min drive- National trust parking (free for members) Have a walk around the headland and look down on the seal colony beach- remember be to be super quiet so as not to disturb them. Wonderful sandy beach, let the children run loose and burn off some energy while you sit back and admire St Ives bay. We've been fortunate to spot dolphins and seals during our visits.

Sightseeing

Another close beach with plenty of amenities: Toilets, cafe and play park. Parking can get exceptionally busy, if you're planning a summer beach day- get there early! We enjoy paddle boarding here in the summer as low tide goes for ages - firm fave for a local family beach day. Cafe can be a little pricey so we like to take a picnic, stunning views over St Michaels Mount.

Hidden Gem

Hidden gem! Off the beaten track so usually quiet and secluded. When we first discovered this cove we felt as though we had travelled to a distant tropical shore- wonderful for natural pools to explore with caves to peek in and great for a wild swim! Please note: downhill to reach with a Little bit of rock scrambling, may not suit very small children as the climb back up might tire little legs!

An absolute treasure- we go every few weeks. This sanctuary provides life saving work for our local seals, rescuing many through the Autumn/Winter and releasing them when they're recovered, also providing a long term home for those animals that are too injured/unwell to be released. The underwater viewing is so magical and its mesmerising to watch the seals swim and play underwater. Tickets last for a whole year- so come back within 12 months and you'll be able to enjoy it all again.
