Just below the Singing Ship is a viewing deck and boardwalk that makes up part of the ANZAC Memorial Walk. The boardwalk hugs the coastline and features information on the First World War’s many major battles. At the lower end of the walk are several commemorative art installations and a gatehouse that honours locals who fought in World War One.

The park is home to several iconic events each year like ‘Oktoberfest’ and the ‘Festival of the Wind’, as well as monthly markets. Catch a ferry from Roslyn Bay and make sure you pack your snorkeling gear. Great Keppel is well worth a visit when up this end of the world. We love the Hideaway Bistro for a bit to eat and maybe a sneaky cocktail or two. The guided snorkeling tours are well worth the extra spend, you get to learn about the wonderful reef and how to look after it. We were so lucky to swim with turtles, sting ray, clown fish, barracuda just to name a few.

This is an amazing spot on the Yeppoon foreshore. Just 20 minutes from Emu Park, this 2500 square-metre resort style lagoon pool with a stunning infinity edge is free to use, has a shallow children’s play area and lifeguards on duty. It is set in a lovely garden setting where you can take your own food for a picnic or buy some delicious snacks from the cafe or surrounding eateries in Yeppoon. It is definitely worth the visit, just a heads up, some parking bays are paid parking, so make sure you read the signs to avoid any unnecessary surprises.

A great way to start the morning is to head down to the Surf Club Coffee Window called Honey Bee Collective. The coffee is great, the view is amazing and the kids gave a big thumbs up to the milkshakes as well. Cushions and rugs are put out over the grassed area for customers to use, We love the use of the planet friendly coffee cups as well, Genius!

Our first ever stop in Emu Park involved a visit to Ocean Brew Cafe. We were heading back from a holiday on Great Keppel and decided to go the scenic way, that is when our family discovered Emu Park. After a bit of an explore around the little village we decided it was time to have a bite to eat. The menu was extensive, lots of choices and delicious options, Even the fussiest of family members were spoilt for choice. The staff were friendly and we loved that it was pet friendly as well.
