St Michael de Rupe is our main parish church – and is one of the iconic landmarks of West Devon. Founded in 1130 by the local landowner Robert Giffard, St Michael’s is the fourth smallest parish church in the UK, and is, we believe, the highest working church in England. Regular service of sung Evensong here at 6pm in the spring and summer, and occasional services all year round. Stunning panoramic views - a nice stop if you are traveling from Lydford to Tavistock.

With over 730 acres of water, Roadford Lake is a spectacular lake set on the edge of Dartmoor between Okehampton and Launceston offering a wide range of activities both on and off the water. There is plenty to do at this scenic lake including miles of walks, cycle trails, a children's play area and an interactive visitor centre. https://www.swlakestrust.org.uk/pages/site/activities/category/roadford-lake

The remains of the largest castle in Devon, in an outstandingly picturesque setting on a wooded spur above the rushing River Okement. Begun soon after the Norman Conquest as a motte and bailey castle with a stone keep, it was converted into a sumptuous residence in the 14th century by Hugh Courtenay, Earl of Devon ,much of whose work survives. After the last Courtenay owner fell foul of Henry VIII in 1538, it declined into an allegedly haunted ruin. Okehampton Castle is set within extensive grounds that encompass three fields, woodland and a river. There is a woodland walk with a self-guided walk leaflet available, as well as much interesting wildlife to spot (including birds of prey, hedgehogs, butterflies, lizards, grass snakes, foxes and deer). https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/okehampton
